Van Cliburn died this week. If one enjoys music please listen to his recording of Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1 in 1958 with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. At the time he was a world famous superstar and this recording shows his command of the piano. Breathtaking.

I just learned from my friend Joshua Medrano, that Van Cliburn passed away today. Another iconic legend of the piano has passed on. He made history when he won the Tchaikovsky competition in the 60's amidst all the strife that was occuring. For an American pianist to win in Russia and to win a competition of their own legendary composer was Epic. Van Cliburn, You will surely be missed. Rest in Peace and forever be in God's presence.
