Last night I was asked the hardest question of my life. Who's worse: Nick Swisher or Mark Teixeira? There's no answer.
Switch hitter Nick Swisher homered from both sides of the plate for the 13th time in his career, tying a major-league record shared by _. a) Mickey Mantle, b) Reggie Smith, c) Eddie Murray, d) Mark Teixeira, e) Oprah.
Without John Tortorella, Nick Swisher, Brian Boyle and Mark Teixeira on this planet life would be very boring.
TAMPA, Fla. -- The words spilled out of Joe Girardi's mouth, quickly and disgustedly. Mark Teixeira will miss 8-10 weeks with a strained tendon in his right wrist, the Yankees' manager said.
BREAKING: Yankees get even more injured. Mark Teixeira out 8-10 weeks with wrist tendon injury.
BREAKING: Mark Teixeira will miss 8-10 weeks, according to multiple reports. Story coming on WFAN.com.
"No Nick Swisher. No Russell Martin. No Curtis Granderson for April. No Alex Rodriguez for who knows how long. A declining Mark Teixeira and an aging Derek Jeter trying to return from a broken ankle. Two outfielders in Ichiro Suzuki and Brett Gardner with little power. Oh, yeah, you're also playing in the toughest media market in the sport, coming off a postseason in which you hit .075 and playing for a huge contract as an impending free agent. Enjoy the season, Mr. Cano." By David Schoenfield. Baseball should be fun to watch this year
YANKEES-Robinson Cano planted the kiss of death on the Yankees as he becomes a free agent at the end of the year. Cano is letting it be known that his next contract is all about money. Meaning get out your checkbook Mr Steinbrenner. ( just a thought, perhaps the Yankees who seem to have been holding back on contracts for its players this year, are saving their money for Cano.) The Yankees who have no leverage in the negotiations for Cano may lose their chance of re-reigning Curtis Granderson and Phil Hughes next year if Cano's negotiators stick to their $189million ceiling. Cano, 30, is in his prime is the hub of the Yankees' lineup. Alex Rodriguez who has been disgraced, is invisible, Derek Jeter turns 39 this year. Nick Swisher is gone, so are Raul Ibanez and Russell Martin. And Mark Teixeira is in a slow, steady decline. Cano is the one offensive player who is in the sweet spot of his career making him irreplaceable. Cano is a Boras client, which means their intent is to maximize the negotiating mark . ...
In real life, Ken Davidoff wrote in the NY Post that he would rather have Nick Swisher than Mark Teixeira. No big deal.
Four years ago this very day – two days before Christmas, 2008 – the Yankees agreed to terms with free agent first baseman Mark Teixeira, having already made agreements with free agent studs CC Sab...
Yankees player says team was rocked by booing during Game 2 of ALCS With Alex Rodriguez, Nick Swisher, Curtis Granderson, Mark Teixeira and Robinson Cano all struggling, fans in stands at Stadium turned on them, and at least one player says that played a role in playoff failure NEW York Daily News
I can tell you Tony La Russa would find a way to get Mark Teixeira, Robinson Cano, NIck Swisher and A-Rod on...
The Yankees are just made up of the worst postseason hitters of all time with a few exceptions: Curtis Granderson: .231 Mark Teixeira: .227 Nick Swisher .167 Robinson Cano: .226 and Alex Rodriguez: .265 And for those players that bash A-ROD non stop he was honestly the only reason the Yankees won in 2009 hitting .365 while Mark, Cano and Swisher didn't even hit over .200 Honestly i am more embarrassed than in 2004
This very well could be the Yankees run coming to a crashing halt. For the last 15+ years, the Bombers knew EVERY spring that their cornerstone SS and lockdown Closer would be ready to go. That is no longer a guarantee. When ANDY F'ING DIRKS has a higher batting average than Robby Cano, Curtis Granderson, Alex Rodriguez, Mark Teixeira, Nick Swisher, and others in a postseason series, it's time to go back to the drawing board. The only ace you have just got torched in his biggest spot. Leave the memories alone, Yankees. Time to look up to the Orioles and Rays for a little while.
If they blow it this year.we should protest them next year dont go to none of there games till. Girardi, Cashman, A-rod,Kevin Long, Larry Rothschild,Curtis Granderson, Nick Swisher, Ichiro, Cano, Mark Teixeira
So here's the lineup the Yankees will use for tonight's climactic Game Five against the Orioles: Derek Jeter SS Ichiro Suzuki LF Robinson Cano 2B Mark Teixeira 1B Raul Ibanez DH Nick Swisher RF Curtis Granderson CF Russell Martin C Eric Chavez 3B CC Sabathia P A-Rod has been benched, replaced by Chavez, and Ibanez will get the start at DH and bat fifth. In my mind, those are absolutely the right moves. I would have taken it a step further and benched Granderson, replacing him with Brett Gardner, one of the few Yankees who doesn't swing for the fences and might actually work out a walk or two. What are your thoughts on Joe Girardi's lineup?
Also, I just realized that probably my three least-favorite MLB players play in sequential order on the New York Yankees- Alex Rodriguez, Nick Swisher, Mark Teixeira.
Nick Swisher not stressed about .154 postseason batting average. Also, Andruw Jones not on roster for Orioles; Mark Teixeira's Baltimore memory lane.
Now is the time for Mark Teixeira, Nick Swisher and A-Rod to step up
Mike Francesa just said that Mark Teixeira is a much bigger star than Nick Swisher. I beg to differ. Swisher is a fan favorite.
A new postseason means a fresh October for like A-Rod, Nick Swisher and Mark Teixeira.
My lineup in the postseason: 1. Derek Jeter 2. Ichiro Suzuki 3. Robinson Cano 4. Curtis Granderson 5. Nick Swisher 6. Alex Rodriguez 7. Mark Teixeira 8. Raul Ibanez 9. Francisco Cervelli Just because they are paid the most should not affect where the bat in the lineup if the goal is to win games. Dont know how thats arguable
New York Yankees trivia: In 2009 the Yankees set a club record with seven players hitting 20 or more home runs in the season: Robinson Cano, Johnny Damon, Hideki Matsui, Jorge Posada, Alex Rodriguez, Nick Swisher and Mark Teixeira.
There's a lot of things I like about Boston. The Red Sox are not among them. Yankees 6, Red Sox 4. Nick Swisher switch-hit home runs - that's one batting left, one batting right. 12th time he's done it. The record? It's 13, by another Yankee. Mickey Mantle? Nope, he did it "only" 10 times, the old record. Mark Teixeira. A non-Yankee, Eddie Murray, did it 11.

7/18/12: Mark Teixeira sends a homer into the bullpen in center, chasing in Nick Swisher to pad the Yankees' first-inning lead
The stark contrast in the Mark Teixeira deals is mind-blowing. And the Nick Swisher deals, too.
The New York Yankees defeated the New York Mets 6-5 at New York(Mets) last night. RA Dickey had a 44.67 innings streak of not allowing an earned run in the 3rd inning on a Mark Teixeira sacrafice fly. Nick Swisher hit a 3 run homer off Dickey in that same inning. Dickey's streak is the longest streak without allowing an earned run since Orel Hershier finished the 1988 season by pitching a MLB record 59 consecutive scoreless innings. Hershiser was an ESPN analyst during this game. It was ESPN's Sunday Night Baseball game. The Mets record for consecutive innings without allowing an earned run is 49. Dwight Gooden did that in 1985 in his 2nd season before his career declined due to his use of cocaine. Gooden did help the Mets win the 1986 World Series. Gooden pitched a no hitter for the New York Yankees in 1996.
My NY Yankees did it again last night...This time, A-Rod stepped up his game. Alex Rodriguez had his 23rd career grand slam and tied Lou Gehrig for the all-time lead in that category and helped send the Yankees to a 6-4 victory over the Braves at Turner Field!!! How did it start? When A-Rod came to the plate, the bases were loaded with one out on singles by Derek Jeter and Curtis Gran...derson and then a walk by Mark Teixeira. We were down (score was 4-0). A-Rod took the fourth pitch for a called strike, fouled off two more, then lined his 10th homer of the season into the front row of the left-field seats. Rodriguez tied it. Robinson Cano then singled and Nick Swisher followed with a two-run homer off Cory Gearrin that gave the Yankees a lead they would keep. Seven batters up, six runs. All at once. Yankees style! :-) Stats: Alex Rodriguez now has 639 homers, 21 behind Willie Mays, who is fourth on the all-time list. But somehing tells me that with all of the milestones A-Rod has reached, last night's re ...

A nine-run deficit through five innings didn't deter the Yanks, who plated seven in the seventh and seven more in the eighth, riding 15 unanswered runs to an emphatic win that was fueled by six RBIs apiece from Mark Teixeira and Nick Swisher.

Jeter and/or Rivera are standard answers, but other than them I love Nick Swisher and Mark Teixeira. Good luck to your Rays!
