On March 3rd a benefit concert will take place in Vicar Street in Dublin for guitarist and singer Henry McCullough who suffered a heart attack in November 2012 and has suffered permanent damage. In 1971 Paul McCartney asked Henry to join his post Beatles band Wings and his ad lib solo on the song My Love is considered one of the great guitar solos. Henry spent 2 years in the band but quit Wings in 1973 and went on to play in The Frankie Miller Band before recording his first solo album for George Harrison’s Dark Horse label. Sessions with Marianne Faithfull, Donovan, Spooky Tooth, Eric Burdon and Dr. Feelgood, among many others, followed. In the mid 80’s Henry returned to Dublin and joined The Fleadh Cowboys before resuming his solo career and writing and recording a number of records. His song Failed Christian was covered by Nick Lowe. Up until his heart attack Henry was gigging regularly with his band from Northern Ireland and The Ed Deane Band in the South.

A great and often over looked artists Mr Peter "Ry" Cooder (born March 15, 1947) is an American guitarist, singer and composer. He is known for his slide guitar work, his interest in roots music from the United States, and, more recently, his collaborations with traditional musicians from many countries. Well, yesterday saw the conclusion of the 2012 SCSS kart racing series. The quality and skill of many drivers didnt go un-noticed as drivers as young as 10 years old battled the conditions and showed great professionalism on the track! BADBOY RACING in particular have had a very good season, Liam Oconnell came 6th overall, Aaron Tooley came 4th overall and Mikey Oconnell came 3rd overall!! Great driving and results when it mattered! WELL DONE LADS YOU DID US PROUD!!! Many thanks go out to all of the stretton team that make the SCSS possible. Thanks to Nick Lowe in particular for taking on the headache of stats, results and complaints department ;) 2013 Championship. . .watch out for the BADBOYS!

Today marks a sad yet bittersweet day for my familY. It has been six months since my dad has passed away. He passed at home with his loving family surrounding him till his very last breath. He was a extremely thoughtful, generous and loving man to so many people. My dad was not only father of five amazing kids. Recently stumbled on a great show that's been on the Internet since 2007 when "Live from Daryl’s House" was picked up by the Palladia network. Just watched the episode with Joe Walsh. Fantastic. Daryl also has a lot of new bands on that, frankly, I've never heard of - but I enjoy those episodes too. I admit I fast forward through the cooking segment each show but the music segments are awesome. Check it out. First encounter: Freshman year at St Olaf, introduced to to the VU album by Curt Cvikota and Eric Solmonson. Quite different from the New Romantic stuff was into at the time -- but it felt right.
