Ditch Tax Update, Please read the below from taxpayer and Hammonds Plains resident Ken Donnelly, he has appealed his Ditch Bill only to find out that nobody from Halifax Water actually made a field visit to his residence to inspect his property based on his appeal. He was then sent a form letter stating his appeal was rejected. Listen to Ken and Pamela Lovelace on News Radio 95.7 FM, the Rick Howe Show, on Monday at 12:30 noon. Thank you all for your support. Ken Donnelly I have received an unsigned form letter from Halifax Water saying that they have investigated my issue (my appeal) and determined that stormwater from my property goes into the ditch on my road and I have to pay. After raising a stink on social media last night about the fact that they had not come out and met with me to look at the property, they called today and said they would review... the review, I guess. Veep Star Talks Emmy Possibility, Hypothetical Crossover with Game of Thrones The third season of the HBO series Veep ends on Sunday night. One of its stars, Matt Walsh, is hoping the hit comedy is in the mix when the Emmy nominations are announced next month, though he's not dwelling on the possibility that he could get an acting nod. Walsh, who plays communications director Mike McLintock, tells ABC News Radio it would be nice if Veep were to win the Emmy for best comedy series, because its writers put in a lot of work. He adds, "I would love if I got nominated or won, of course, but I don't think about it." Last year, Veep's top star, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, collected the Emmy for lead comedy actress. Walsh doesn't think he has the name recognition that she does. He jokes that he's known as "that guy from Veep," or for his role as the doctor in The Hangover. As a satire of D.C. politics, Veep is often considered to be the comedic opposite of Kevin Spacey's Netflix drama, House of Cards. But Walsh tells AB ...

Recently on Fox News Radio, Dr. Ben Carson called out Obama on not releasing his records. "Don't you think it is reasonable for people who are seeking public office or are in public office to allow people to see what they're getting and to expose their past record," asked Carson. “What you said is fair,” Fox host Alan Colmes replied. “But you just said a few moments ago, would you have the same reaction were it a white person versus a black person; no white president has ever been asked to produce a birth certificate.” Carson again asked: “But has there been anybody else who has had a shroud of secrecy around their records like this?”

1 ON 1 Exclusive: Jordin Sparks Says Music's Not on Back Burner; Hoping for Album in Fall What were you doing back in May of 2009? was releasing her hit single, "the title track of her second album, which came out that July. As her fans are no doubt aware, she hasn't released an since -- but she aims to change that this year. "Five years, right? It went by so fast," Jordin tells ABC News Radio about the length of time it's been since she put out that single, which was co-written and produced by Ryan Tedder. Since then, of course, Jordin hasn't just been sitting around: she's launched an acting career. "I've been able to do Sparkle and [The Inevitable Defeat of] Mister & Pete and I've got Left Behind coming out later this year with she says of her "And it's been so fun to be able do it 'cause I love all things creative." But the former American Idol champ hasn't given up on her music career -- not by a long shot. "Music: not on the back burner!" she insists to ABC Radio. The delay, she says, is not d ...

Carlos Santana Says Tour with Rod Stewart Will Be "a Natural Party" Tonight, Santana and Rod Stewart kick off their joint tour, dubbed The Voice, The Guitar, The Songs, with a concert in Albany, New York. The dates for the outing are interspersed with those for Santana's trek in support of its first-ever Spanish-language album, Corazon, and are scheduled through an August 23 show in Atlantic City, New Jersey. As its title advertises, the tour brings together one of the rock world's most lauded guitarists and one of its most distinctive singers. But can fans expect to see Carlos Santana and Stewart sharing the stage at the same time? Carlos tells ABC News Radio, "I believe so, yes." Santana adds that the plan is for him and Rod to work out "a variety of different songs that he can sit in with me or I can sit in with him and just have a natural party." Santana is known for his cosmic, Latin- and jazz-infused sonic explorations, while Stewart leans more toward pop and soul sounds, but Carlos insists that ...

Following a report in a Japanese paper stating that Paul McCartney had been hospitalized due to the illness that caused him to postpone a string of tour dates, his spokeswoman has now issued a statement confirming that the former Beatle, was, in fact, admitted to a hospital in Tokyo. "Since contracting a virus last week that led to the postponement of tour dates, Paul received successful medical treatment at a hospital in Tokyo," said the statement issued to ABC News Radio. "He will make a complete recovery and has been ordered to take a few days rest. Paul has been extremely moved by all the messages and well wishes he has received from fans all over the world." Asked if McCartney was still in the hospital, or if he's now been discharged, the rep added that she couldn't "confirm either" one of those scenarios. As previously reported, McCartney postponed several concerts in Japan and his first-ever show in Seoul, South Korea due to his virus. He offered apologies to fans.
Heard Christine Milne on ABC News Radio yesterday - she sounded so together, so compassionate, so reasonable and honest. No ugly political speak, no spin, no emotional blackmail. I've never really been a big fan of her (though I vote Greens) but was really impressed and hopeful. Then heard Joe Hockey talk about how the budget is tough "because I want my children to enjoy the same quality of life as I do". That right there is the problem. You earn $230,000/yr. You and your family enjoy an incredible quality of life. What about those from whom you have just attempted to strip the last vestiges of any sort of quality of life from? What about those families and those children? You will only look after yours and your own - your ideology is sickening - Thatcherism & Reaganism at its finest . But guess what? Everyone see's through it - even your own party members are turning on you and Abbottoir with much vitriol. See those people in the street? They're coming for you...

Each of the five remaining couples will perform two dances set to music by famous American artists. One couple will be eliminated at night's end. Amy Purdy repeatedly used the word "surreal" while describing to ABC News Radio how it feels to have advanced to the semis. The 2014 Paralympian, who's partnered with Derek Hough, said, "There's been two really surreal moments, which is first, walking off...from Sochi, stepping onto the set. That was insanely surreal. And then to know how far we've made it is really surreal." EX-ARSENAL STAR PARLOUR RATES LIVERPOOL’S TITLE CREDENTIALS Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour believes Liverpool have put forward a very strong case for this season’s Premier League title. Parlour won three league titles with the Gunners during his extensive career in north London so is well-versed to know what is required to become champions. The Reds currently sit second on the table and although Parlour believes there is a main contender in the form of Manchester City, he is of the belief that the Merseyside outfit has what it takes to end the 2013/14 campaign at the summit of the standings. "The firepower that Liverpool have got with (Luis) Suarez and (Daniel) Sturridge – these youngsters are playing a lot better as well – they're playing really well,” he told Sky Sports Football Club on Sky Sports News Radio. Today marks the 50th anniversary of historic day that The Beatles invaded the U.S. The Fab Four took a Pan Am flight from London to New York City's John F. Kennedy International Airport, where they were greeted by thousands of fans. Prior to the band's arrival, U.S. radio had begun to saturate the airwaves with The Beatles' music, and by January 18 of 1964, the group had scored its first hit on the Billboard Hot 100, "I Want to Hold Your Hand." Beatles historian and author Bruce Spizer tells ABC News Radio that while some people have suggested that the reason so many people turned up at JFK for the group's arrival is that promoters had promised free Beatles T-shirts to kids who made it out to the airport, he thinks the real motivating factor was simply young fans' excitement about the band. "I think it pretty much was spontaneous in the sense that the radio let them know they were coming and they were eager to see their heroes," he explains. Shortly after touching down, the band they held a now-famous pre ...

Christine McVie is officially back with Fleetwood Mac. The band’s publicist, Liz Rosenberg, told ABC News Radio, "I can officially confirm that Christine McVie has rejoined Fleetwood Mac and we hope to have information regarding a potential tour with all the Macsters soon." Christine retired from Fleetwood Mac in 1998, but sat in with her old band mates during a couple of their shows in the U.K this past fall. Soon after those concerts, she told British newspaper The Guardian, "I like being with the band, the whole idea of playing music with them. I miss them all. If they were to ask me [to rejoin them] I would probably be very delighted." She originally joined the band in 1970 after marrying bassist, John McVie. Rumors about Christine rejoining the group began flying on Monday after a Fleetwood Mac fan attended a star-studded benefit concert in Maui, Hawaii, this past Saturday. According to the fan, who posted the news on the FleetwoodMac.net forum, *** Fleetwood was a surprise performer at the se ...

People with targeted disabilities are getting hired at the highest percentage in the last 17 years. The Office of Personnel Management announced in a news release that these historic benchmarks represent important steps toward the President's goals outlined in Executive Order 13548 - Increasing Federal Employment of Individuals with Disabilities. Ending fiscal 2012, people with disabilities made up 12% of the federal workforce. That was a 1% increase from the previous year. Of the 220,000 individuals with disabilities working in federal service, 18,000 had a targeted disability, such as blindness, deafness or an intellectual disability. Today's news from Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.): Spying on Americans: In the wake of a federal court ruling against domestic spying by the National Security Agency, Sen. Bernie Sanders said Congress must narrow the scope of a law used to justify the bulk collection of Americans' telephone records. “I voted against the Patriot Act. We've introduced legislation to curb what the NSA is doing,” Sanders told MSNBC's Thomas Roberts. Lawmakers supporting the vast domestic surveillance databases argue that collecting phone records and emails makes the country safer. NSA is 'Out of Control': The National Security Agency is "out of control and operating in an unconstitutional manner," Sen. Sanders said, according to The Nation, ABC News Radio, Vermont Public Radio and Common Dreams. Patriot This is all 100% factual and accurate. But Obama’s Kenyan connection goes well beyond simply being related to Raila Odinga or being a member of the same Luo tribe. To be precise, and according to a special 2008 ABC News Radio report, in 2006 then Senator Barack Obama violated U.S. Federal Law (the Logan Act, which specifically forbids interference in foreign elections and government policy-making by American politicians), as well as Kenyan law, by actively campaigning for his Muslim cousin, Raila Odinga. In fact, his blatant interference was such that the Kenyan ambassador, Ogingo Ogego, made a public complaint to the U.S. State Department, and Obama was then officially asked to leave the country by the Kenyan government. But his interference didn’t stop there. According to the African Press, secret emails between Obama and Odinga on “how to rig elections, cry voter fraud if losing, and then call for riots in the streets” were also exchanged. (Available on YouTube.) Then, in December 2007, ...

Yes' Steve Howe Says Band Is Loving Playing Full Albums In Concert Yes kicked off a new North American tour leg on Saturday with a show in Paso Robles, California. As they did on their previous few treks, the band is performing three of their classic 1970s albums -- 1971's The Yes Album, 1972's Close to the Edge and 1977's Going for the One -- in their entirety at most shows on their current outing. Guitarist Steve Howe says he and his band mates have really embraced playing these full albums live. Basically, we're loving it," he tells ABC News Radio. "To me, it will pale again if we ever go back and just do a set or sets that are just songs from albums. That will seem, somehow, a little bit hard to get used to again." Howe compares performing each album to being on "a long motorway drive," noting that when "you get to the end…you have a sense of celebration that you're at the end of this journey, and those records are a journey." He adds that The Yes Album, Close to the Edge and Going for the One " ...
