Time to take a look back at our top 5 videos of 2014. Coming in at No. 5 — the Moto 360 versus the LG G Watch R. For Andrew and Phil, it was their first look at the round LG watch after spending few days with the (also round) Moto 360. Fun fact: This was in the middle of a 10-day marathon of travel, for the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Note Edge in New York, to Chicago for the Moto 360 and Moto X, and then to Las Vegas for the Super Mobility Week conference, where we met up with LG and the G Watch R. Both of these watches are available now. For more on the LG G Watch R, visit: for more on the Moto 360, see

Being with him, Least favourite moment? Eating at Mandalay Bay fish and chips were awful. Thank you God for the wonderful memories.I will share photos and yes lot's of them.

My son Sashi and his friend Pablo Andrés just landed back home after a month and a half, and 10,000 mile of exploring this vast country of ours. Along the way, they picked up their friend Kaiser. They started in Santa Cruz, and explored Portland, Washington, Kansas City, Salt Lake City, Boulder, Chicago, Pennsylvania, New York, Georgia, Florida, including the Keys, New Orleans, Austin, Sedona, Zion, The Grand Canyon, (including, I'm told, Bedrock City "Yabadabadoo"), Las Vegas and Joshua Tree. They did it all in a tent, on couches (thank you Joel Davis and Meg Walsh ) a couple hostels, and cheap motels. ($!7 each a night to stay on the strip in Vegas). They landed at our place in East Hollywood last night, still smiling, and still liking each other. Amazing! Welcome home guys!

Knicks First Take Tired of Waiting for Melo? Here's a possible Explanation Carmelo Anthony has been really pushing for Lebron James to join him in New York and with that, is the cause for Phil Jackson's trade talks with Philadelphia and other teams to make cap room. According to the New York Post, it is Carmelo's dream to play with LeBron in NEW YORK. Not Miami. Not Los Angeles. But to play in Madison Square Garden. Phil has been in talks with teams trying to ship out the expiring deals of both Andrea Bargnani and Amare Stoudemire without taking any contracts back. Melo has been holding out with the faint hope that Phil can pull off the miracle or miracles, meanwhile LeBron is scheduled to meet with Pat Riley and Miami Heat Officials today in Las Vegas. According to Chris Broussard, the meeting is set to to include Head Coach Erik Sploestra, Owner Mickey Arison & Dwayne Wade. Chris Sheridan of Sheridan Hoops has reported that its a 90% chance that LeBron will return to Cleveland. Sources below:
International Climate Skeptics Gather in Las Vegas by Jack Nelson International Climate Skeptics Gather in Las Vegas By Alan Caruba From July 7 to 9, the ninth International Conference on Climate Change will convene in Las Vegas in a dramatic demonstration that “global warming” was a huge hoax and the claims that “Climate Change” is responsible for everything are a continuation of that fraud. As a policy advisor to The Heartland Institute, a Chicago-based free market think tank, I attended its first Climate Change conference held in New York in 2009 to dispute the “science” advancing global warming. I have been writing about the hoax that gained momentum since James Edward Hansen testified before congressional committees in 1988. From 1981 to 2013 Hansen had been the head of the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies. Along with other government agencies like the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, NASA has been producing data that routinely tampers with climate statistics to ma ...

An air traveler won't face criminal charges after his agitated behavior led a JetBlue Airways pilot to divert his New York-to-Las Vegas plane to Detroit:
A New York flight bound for Las Vegas had to make an emergency stop in Detroit because of an unruly passenger. It happened Saturday morning when the man stood up on his seat and started shouting.
A hollering, agitated passenger who ignored pleas to calm down spurred a pilot to divert a New York-to-Las Vegas JetBlue plane to Detroit over the weekend, according to the airline and a passenger's video.
Martin Murray's team try and tempt IBF middleweight boss Sam Soliman into October showdown News 'Substantial' offer made to bring Soliman to Monte Carlo RODNEY BERMAN has contacted IBF middleweight champion Sam Soliman’s camp about potentially matching him with highly-rated Martin Murray in Monte Carlo in October. He says he has made a “substantial offer” to the Australian, who beat Felix Sturm for the title last month. Murray fights Max Bursak for the WBC Silver belt in Monaco next weekend, but plans are already afoot to land a bigger prize later this year. “The middleweight division is very fluid right now and Martin is a big part of that,” said the Golden Gloves promoter in South Africa. “He’s proven himself in major fights and he has huge pulling power.” WBC champion Miguel Cotto is the hot man of the division after his dominant performance against Sergio Martinez last weekend, but Berman believes he will opt for more established names who would be big draws in New York or Las Vegas. Riding Across America By Weronika Kwapisz Translated by Triumph of Westchester (Adriana Scarpelli) Entry Three: The West One month has passed since I started my journey in the saddle of a Triumph Bonneville - wandering throughout the wild prairies of North America. Each state is a new surprise to me. As Europeans we are familiar with the more well known places such as New York or Los Angeles, but states such as Colorado, Utah and Arizona are less familiar…and that is a pity. In particular, Colorado and Utah knocked me to my knees with spectacular views and wonderful trails that run through the National Parks. In contrast, Arizona tried literally to knock me down, welcoming me with thunderstorms and winds that forced me to drive at a sixty degree angle…nice, right?! With that, brisk temperatures hit below 41 degrees F. Pure bliss, isn’t it? But here’s something to laugh at, Las Vegas is 102 degrees F...in the shade!! And at such a temperature I began to yearn for the cold! I’m glad the Bonnie c . ...

Money Goes To Church A well-worn one dollar bill and a similarly distressed twenty dollar bill arrived at a Federal Reserve Bank to be retired. As they moved along the conveyor belt to be burned, they struck up a conversation. The twenty dollar bill reminisced about its travels all over the county. "I've had a pretty good life," the twenty proclaimed. "Why I've been to Las Vegas and Atlantic City, the finest restaurants in New York, performances on Broadway, and even a cruise to the Caribbean." "Wow!" said the one dollar bill. "You've really had an exciting life!" "So tell me," says the twenty, "where have you been throughout your lifetime?" The one dollar bill replies, "Oh, I've been to the Methodist Church, the Baptist Church, the Lutheran Church ." The twenty dollar bill interrupts, "What's a church?"

May 7, 2014 Dear Representative Huizenga, Dear Senator Levin, Dear Senator Stabenow, On September 11, 2012, America was under attack by radical Islamic jihadists. The result of this attack was not only the burning down and ransacking of American consulates and embassies throughout the Middle East. The end result included the atrocious, violent deaths of 4 Americans. Stand with us in fighting for these 4 men who gave all. Despite asking for reinforcements to help the consulate that was under attack, the Obama Administration denied the requests. Then, within hours of learning about these attacks, President Obama went to party and campaign in Las Vegas, New York, and Hollywood. Although time and emails would prove that not only did Obama know about what happened, he and his team watched it in the Situation Room. But, there were no campaign pictures of that scene released. Instead, Obama attempted, poorly, to hide the truth of what he knew from the American people because the truth was an inconvenience to his ...
The book today is Goldfinch by Donna Tartt. This Pulitzer Prize fiction book is over 700 pages and well worth the read. Narrated by 13 year old Theo whose life is suddenly changed by a tragic event, we experience his loss and journey with him as he grows up and makes his way through life struggling to find meaning. Tartt is a great character builder and a vivid descriptive writer. We meet one of my favorite characters, Hobie, when he opens the door of his cluttered antique shop dressed in an ankle length robe. This kind, wise man becomes a mentor and friend to Theo. A red-headed young girl, Pippa, who was injured in the tragic event, is being nursed back to health by Hobie. Theo has a special place in his heart for Pippa and her story is woven with his though-out the book. Life begins for Theo in New York and the story takes him to the outskirts of Las Vegas, back to New York and ends in Amsterdam. This is a complex book, layered with many characters and stories. Goldfinch, a rare painting, is ...

There was a lovely memorial service for my Mom at her church this morning. Part of it was a time for friends and family members to say things. Here's what I said. When my Mom was in the Coast Guard in W.W. II she was stationed in New Orleans and she met a handsome sailor and married him. That was my father. He was a good fellow, from all I've learned. The problem was that he had a girl back home he really wanted to go back to. So the marriage ended. I wound up being raised by my Mom's parents. They were wonderful people and they were very good to me. Too good to me, probably.. In any event when I was growing up with my grandparents and my Mom was raising her Davis family in Mentor-On-The-Lake I didn't see her all that often and never got to know her very well. Years went by. In the late 1990's I was in San Francisco making my living as a sidewalk banjo player. A friend of mine in New York wanted to meet me in Las Vegas. At the same time my Mom was going to Las Vegas for the purpose of seeing t ...
Fifty years ago this week the World's Fair opened in New York City. A few weeks later I was on one of the buses full of classmates, all primed for our senior trip, as we pulled out of the school parking lot headed for the Big Apple. Soon after checking into the Henry Hudson Hotel some details became sketchy and a few will go with me to my grave. Long before Las Vegas began using their popular tag line, which they stole from the Class of '65, my classmates vowed that what ever happened in New York would stay in New York. I had never been that far from home and the entire trip was outstanding. My first two trips to the fair, which was actually located in Queens, was to visit every pavilion and view each exhibit. Subsequent trips were solely for the Belgian waffles that were covered with fresh whipped cream, powdered sugar and sliced strawberries. They sold 2,500 a day and were inhaled like a prisoner's last meal on death row. My most memorable exhibit was Michelangelo's Pieta on display in the Vatican Pavi ...
Caesars Making Bid for Casino in Upstate New York By CHARLES V. BAGLIAPRIL 22, 2014 For more than two years, the major Las Vegas gambling companies have resisted Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo’s call to consider building a major casino resort in New York and help him revive an upstate economy wracked by unemployment and declining opportunities. But with applicants required to post a $1 million application fee for one of the four available licenses by Wednesday night, Caesars Entertainment has entered the contest, with plans for an Entertainment Complex worth more than $750 million, about 50 miles north of Midtown Manhattan. Caesars, which operates 53 casinos worldwide, including four in Atlantic City, is proposing a hotel and casino complex with shops, restaurants and an entertainment hall on a 120-acre parcel in Orange County, N.Y., next to the Metro-North Railroad train station in Harriman. The site is a short distance from Woodbury Common Premium Outlet, a mall that attracts more than 11 million visitors a yea ...

ST. LOUIS (AP) — At 88, blues guitarist B.B. King is a living legend, a Rock and Roll Hall of Famer with his own satellite radio channel and a string of blues-themed restaurants in New York, Las Vegas and several other cities. Slowed by age and infirmity, including diabetes, King continues to tour — with sometimes painful results. In St. Louis, some fans are singing the blues after an erratic weekend performance led to a stream of audience catcalls and early departures. Concertgoers said King's rambling Friday night set at the Peabody Opera House featured just a handful of complete songs amid meandering musical snippets, long-winded soliloquies, an 8-piece backup band that missed its cues and a 15-minute sing-along of "You Are My Sunshine." "Is he a living legend? Absolutely. Do I love his music? You bet," said digital marketing executive Larry Goldstein, who paid $150 for a pair of tickets plus parking. "But when you're paying that type of money, you expect to see a show." The experience at King's co ...

ladies please be careful!! A New York woman allegedly kidnapped and forced into prostitution in cities across America has finally been freed by police in Utah. The unidentified 23-year-old was allegedly grabbed in Manhattan by Jean Joseph and Tara L. Pinnock, who took her on a nightmare road trip across the United States. The victim was knocked almost unconscious by Joseph as she stood on a Manhattan street near the busy midtown Port Authority Bus Station, police said. He dragged her into his car and then drove out of state stopping at Chicago, Grand Junction, Colorado, Denver and finally Salt Lake City. At each stop, she was forced into prostitution and Joseph twice sexually assaulted her in Chicago, according to police. Pinnock placed prostitution ads for the victim and arranged the sex between clients and the victim over the phone, police said. After several attempts, the woman finally made her escape after several weeks when she rang the emergency services from a Salt Lake City hotel car park in the a ...
The last time I did a whole CD album for the Philippine market was in the late 90’s when I recorded/arranged and co-produced an album with DAVID POMERANZ and we came up with a big hit, “BORN FOR YOU”. It’s been awhile not doing any recordings so when my friend Ms. CECILE AZARCON asked me if we could help out a Filipino group from New York record her original compositions and produce an all OPM CD, I said yes right away. The group is called SOM (SOUNDS OF MANILA). They perform all OPM songs. I arranged and recorded the tracks in Las Vegas, while Cecile took care of the vocal dubbing in Northern California. The group is launching their CD entitled SOM SINGS CECILE AZARCON this coming April and it coincides with Cecile’s 35 years in the music industry as a songwriter. Check them out, buy the CD and listen to Cecile’s beautiful lyrics and melodies.

Friday was our 6 year Anniversary of the day we met. We had a wonderful time. Went to Mohegan Sun Casino. We did not win, not in the terms of money, we won in terms of the heart. We ate at Timbers Buffet and it was awesome. At this time we talked and we decided that next March, 2015 we are going to Las Vegas and we are getting married. It is something we have talked about doing, but now we are making it official. We never decided when but now we have. March is the month we met and it just so happens that NASCAR will be in Vegas in March also. Our choices of hotels are these: Circus Circus, MGM Grand or New York, New York. We will get married at the Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel. We will see shows and just enjoy the whole Las Vegas experience. We are happy and very excited about this and we hope all that reads this will be happy for us and send us your best wishes. This is the right time and we know we are meant to be together forever. This will make our lives complete. Thank you for lettin ...

"Time" magazine just did a study to figure out the cities where people take the most SELFIES. They analyzed the cities where people posted the most selfies on Instagram in January, and divided the number of selfies by the city's population. But obviously that doesn't factor in TOURISTS. Anyway, here are the top 10 cities in the U.S. with the most selfies . . . 1. New York . . . specifically Manhattan. 2. Miami. 3. Anaheim, California . . . probably because of Disneyland. 4. San Francisco. 5. Boston. 6. Newark, New Jersey. 7. Honolulu, Hawaii. 8. Las Vegas. 9. Washington, D.C. 10. Oakland, California. Worldwide, the city with the most selfies is Makati City, in the Philippines.

This Day In Crime History Mar 9, 1997: Rapper Notorious B.I.G. is killed in Los Angeles Christopher Wallace, a.k.a Biggie Smalls, a.k.a. the Notorious B.I.G., is shot to death at a stoplight in Los Angeles. The murder was thought to be the culmination of an ongoing feud between rap music artists from the East and West Coasts. Just six months earlier, rapper Tupac Shakur was killed when he was shot while in his car in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas. Ironically, Wallace's death came only weeks before his new album, titled Life After Death, was scheduled to be released. Wallace was the most prominent East Coast practictioner of "gangsta rap," peppering his song with profane, violent and misogynistic lyrics. His 1994 record Ready to Die sold millions. That same year, Shakur, the West Coast's leading rapper, was shot several times in a robbery at a recording studio in New York. Shakur claimed that Wallace was partially responsible and later taunted Wallace on one of his songs. He claimed to have slept with W ...
Home.. Home Sweet Home.. After getting 5 hours of sleep in Denver, I finally got back to Las Vegas yesterday. The worst part of the trip is my body is NOW trying to figure out what the heck time it is. I mean a week ago I was in Hawaii time -2 hours different then Las Vegas time and then I suddenly switch to New York time +3 hours different, which is a 5 hour difference between the two states, to now back to Las Vegas time. So my body is going *** time is it now? So I slept several hours yesterday after getting home and then went to work in the office for a few hours. Today I need to take care of business for Celestial Comics since I have been away for about two weeks and to start getting ready to head to Sacramento this weekend. The submission deadline for several shows is quickly approaching so I need to get some last minute info out to people. With a SUPER signing with Walking Dead's own Governor (David Morrissey) and Michonne (Danai Gurira) coming up and time is running out to get books ready. So it i ...
What are the most popular tourist attractions in the world? Nine of the top 10 are in the United States. The world’s most popular tourist attraction is the Las Vegas Strip with nearly 40 million visitors every year. Coming in next is New York’s Times Square with just over 39 million visitors. They’re followed by New York’s Central Park, Washington’s Union Station, and Niagara Falls rounding out the top five. The rest of the top 10 are Grand Central Station in New York, Boston’s Faneuil Hall, Disney World in Orlando, Disneyland in California and the only foreign tourist attraction in the top 10 - Beijing’s Forbidden City.
In case you cared: the Las Vegas Strip isn't in Las Vegas, and the Statue of Liberty isn't in New York.
I recently Interviewed Jole, the greatest Abstract Impressionist Painter of the 21st Century since Monet & Salvador Dalí for "Sandy Kastel & Friends." In his interview he shared his thoughts on the differences between the art community in Las Vegas to New York. When looking for a gallery to show his paintings he was often told "Your paintings are too large. You need to be at the airport." Jole did find a gallery - Artistic Lifestyles Art Gallery located at 2758 S. Highland (south of Sahara) where he is showing 16 of his oil paintings Saturday March 29th from 6-9PM I asked him why he asked me to be a part of his art show and his statement to me was "Your sculptures are unique in design. They move me deeply and I feel they compliment my paintings." So, on March 29th you can see my bronze sculptures and my masterpiece 24K Gold Plated Egyptian Princess. These are limited edition one of a kind sculptures which have been purchased by private collectors for many years. This is a Red Carpet/Black Tie Event with ...
RECAP OF OUR FEBRUARY 23RD SHOW BY THE ATLANTA BOXING EXAMINER: SUNDAY NIGHT FIGHTS RECAP 2.23.2014 - PAIN & PLEASURE EDITION Star studded, action packed, world class event is how this writer would objectively describe the February 23, 2014 version of Route 30 Promotions' Sunday Night Fights. This is the first time this writer has covered this series. Two words, highly impressed. The card, scheduled to start at 7:00 pm local time, commenced closer to 8:00 pm. No big deal, this writer has been to fights promoted by Golden Boy that got off to late starts. Plus, there was plenty of good music playing, eye candy walking around and important people to meet that would cause the best of us to lose track of time. Surveying the crowd, there's no question Route 30 Promotions is seeking long term gain instead of short term profits. From the fighters to the ring card girls, they partnered with all the right people to give this card an international flare you would actually see in Las Vegas, L.A. or New York. My crede ...

Despite competitive dance’s relatively young age when compared to other major competitive sports, its hard not to have discussion about who is the greatest trainer of all time in the industry as of this point. While “greatest of all time” (hereinafter referred to as GOAT) discussions are always a matter of opinion, there are several compelling reasons for why Abby Lee Miller is indisputably the top trainer in the world of competitive dance. Everybody already knows about the multitude of national titles she has captured over the past two years in the Starbound & Energy Dance promotions, and we’ve all heard about the army of alumnis who have graduated from her elite programs to move on and grace the stages of Broadway, Hollywood, Las Vegas, New York, Tokyo, and other respectable theatres all around the globe. However, what often gets lost in her resume of achievements are the small things she does on a weekly basis. Over the past two competition seasons, Abby has been choreographing a brand new grou ...

Nicolas Retsinas: Several factors are generating a tailwind for the recovery, although it varies from market to market. In large measure it has to do with improvement in the economy as a whole, household formation (that is, children moving out of their parents' home in an improving job market), and abnormally low interest rates. Supply and demand, of course, always have an impact, with an additional element in select markets such as Phoenix, Las Vegas, and Southern California, where prices fell by half or more after the downturn and where financial firms like The Blackstone Group have been buying large numbers of single-family detached homes that they then rent, hoping to eventually sell them as an exit to their investment. This kind of institutional buying, however, is not happening as much in markets like Boston and New York, where prices did not fall so far and where there are not large numbers of foreclosed single-family homes. But all things considered, there is evidence that we may have turned the c ...

What does an American Chinatown look like today? Going from New York to Southern California, Austin to Las Vegas, reveals the answer: It all depends on where you are.
There is still plenty of time left before kickoff at Super BowlXLVIII in New York and the odds are sure to change by the minute, but early lines for the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks showdown favor the AFC. Peyton Manning and the Broncos are getting just a little bit more admiration from Las Vegas linesmakers as Vegas Insider has Denver as a 2.5-point favorite in what should be a frigid environment in MetLife Stadium. The best offense against the best defense is what the hype is all about but I don't believe they are considering the Experience Factor. With vice president of the Broncos John Elways clutch offensive mind and experience paired with Peyton Mannings unparalleled off the charts record breaking status quo, It is a sure mistake to over look this dynamic duos proven Super Bowl experienced winning minds. I believe the Broncos will have Seattles defense guessing the whole game on what's coming next. If the Broncos can play up to there full potential, Denver could blow Seattle out...If I was a ...
Filipino icon Manny Pacquiao and welterweight titlist Timothy Bradley Jr., whose June 2012 fight will go down as one of the most controversial decisions in boxing history, will meet again. Bradley agreed to terms on Saturday, a week after Pacquiao did the same, to set up their sequel, which will take place on April 12 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Top Rank promoter Bob Arum told ESPN.com. "I finished the deal with Pacquiao last week and [Top Rank president] Todd [duBoef] finished with Bradley [Saturday]," Arum said. As part of the deal, Bradley, due to become a promotional free agent at the end of the year, extended his contract with Top Rank, duBoef told ESPN.com. Arum said that the formal news conference to announce the fight is scheduled for Feb. 4 in New York with a second news conference to be held in Los Angeles either the next day or two days later. Arum said Pacquiao will be guaranteed $20 million -- a $6 million cut from the first fight -- and that Bradley would receive $6 million, a $1 million ...

Happy Birthday we love and miss you Aliyah ... Singer and actress Aaliyah Dana Haughton was born on January 16, 1979, in Brooklyn, New York. Raised in Detroit, Michigan, the young singer competed unsuccessfully on the television program Star Search at age 11. Later that same year, she performed with R&B legend Gladys Knight, the former wife of her uncle and manager, Barry Hankerson, at a five-night stand in Las Vegas. Brooklyn-born Aaliyah Dana Haughton started voice lessons shortly after she learned to talk. Determined to be a star, she signed a contract with Jive Records at the age of 12 and came to popular acclaim in 1994. In 1994, at the age of 15, Aaliyah catapulted onto the R&B charts herself with her debut album, Age Ain't Nothing But a Number. Produced by the successful singer R. Kelly, the album quickly sold a million copies and eventually earned platinum status based largely on the success of two hit singles, "Back and Forth" and "At Your Best (You Are Love)." Later that year, tabloid reports su ...

United States of America Travel Guide = “Oh beautiful, for spacious skies, for amber waves of grain, for purple mountain majesties above the fruited plain.” The beloved patriotic song “America the Beautiful” hints at some of the country's diverse, majestic landscape, which is certainly one of many reasons to visit the US but there are so many others. From its vast plains, snow-covered mountains, deep forests and strange rock formations, to soaring skyscrapers and a thunderous cultural scene, the USA is a collage of extremes. Nothing can prepare you for your first glimpse of Manhattan's unforgettable skyline, your first ride in a yellow cab, the ubiquitous hamburger joints, yawning expanses of prairie, the sweet strains of New Orleans jazz, or the neon-lit excesses of Las Vegas. When it comes to the natural landscape, you’re hard pressed to find an area more diverse. Marvel at the thunderous spectacle of 12,000 year old Niagara Falls in northern New York, or seek an antidote to urban chaos amidst ...

Is Courtney Love Reuniting Hole? Courtney Love performs in Las Vegas. Ethan Miller/Getty Images December 30, 2013 12:25 PM ET Are Courtney Love and Hole ready to live through another reunion? A new photo suggests they are. The alt-rockers led by Love – who rose to fame in the early Nineties with their debut, Pretty on the Inside, and their hit follow-up Live Through This – haven't recorded with their most famous lineup since 1998's Celebrity Skin, which sold over 1.4 million copies. Drummer Patty Schemel left the group that year, and bassist Melissa Auf der Maur departed for the Smashing Pumpkins in 1999. Three years later, Love and founding guitarist Eric Erlandson officially disbanded the group in an online statement. Hole reunited for one set in New York in 2012, in celebration of a documentary about Schemel, but have been dormant since. Follow Nirvana's Road to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Love reformed Hole with new members in 2009 and released Nobody's Daughter the following year, to Erlandson ...

The following is extracted from the Heathers chapter of Nigel's biography of Christian Slater published in the UK in August 2005 and just released as an Ebook edition...   Three weeks before Heathers was due to open on 31 March 1989, Christian and Winona Ryder are about to appear at a promotional screening at a New York adult-school film class. The mostly suburban middle-aged audience is clearly troubled by the movie and its light-hearted treatment of diabolical themes, and many walk out midway, muttering their disapproval, shock and disdain.   Backstage, Christian and Winona are worried. She has an idea and whispers it to Christian. When the screening ends, they come out from behind the curtain and sit in chairs on stage holding hands, where they announce, they have just got married, the previous week in Las Vegas. Some class members applaud, others looks befuddled, but Christian and Winona never drop the act, or the conceit. Calling each other “honey” and their charm overpowers the critics.   A . ...

The 88 released Over and Over by Jermy Leeuwis, Editor on January 12, 2006 | genre: rock With their second album, Over and Over, The 88 refute the myth that art and the three-and-a-half-minute pop song can’t get along. While the new record shares the same rollicking spirit as its predecessor, Kind of Light, it also marks a sonic leap forward for the Los Angeles-based quintet. The buoyant melodies and general jollity that characterized album one infuse all 12 tracks of their sophomore release, only this time with an expanded sound, a result, no doubt, of the group’s artistic growth – and lots and lots of practice. Since Light debuted in early 2003, lead singer/guitarist Keith Slettedahl, keyboardist Adam Merrin, guitarist Brandon Jay, bassist Carlos Torres and drummer Mark Vasapolli have played practically nonstop throughout their native L.A., with tour dates in New York, San Francisco, Austin, Las Vegas, San Diego, Tucson and Washington D.C. Once word of The 88’s irrepressible harmonies and hoppin ...
Campaign 'slush funds' tapped for luxuries - Illinois' members of Congress lavish campaign money on ... themselves December 22, 2013 Ignore the cynical line that members of Congress don't do much. They're awfully busy raising and spending money. The Tribune's review of five years of campaign spending by Illinois' congressional delegation revealed Thursday how frequently its members essentially use campaign cash as slush funds: When they're not in session, they're hosting fundraisers, jet-setting and stuffing their bellies at private luncheons — all in the name of campaign activity, of course. Examples: Illinois' 18 House members (19 prior to 2010) and two senators spent about $500,000 from their campaign funds on meals alone during the last five years, the Tribune review found. Rep. Luis Gutierrez spent more than $130,000 on hotels and travel expenses to such destinations as Las Vegas, New York, Puerto Rico and Mexico. Rep. Aaron Schock spent more than $19,000 on hotel rooms and parties in Vail, Colo. H ...
MOTORCYCLE THEFTS DECLINE SLIGHTLY Your motorcycle could be stolen in a New York minute, especially if you live in NYC which is the nation's capital of motorcycle thievery (903 thefts), followed by swingin' Las Vegas (757), the National Insurance Crime Bureau reports. Next comes San Diego (633), Indianapolis (584) and Miami (535). Overall, just like when it comes to car thefts, motorcycle thefts have been dropping. In 2012, the year in which the NICB bases its analysis, they amounted to 46,061 ripped-off bikes, down 1% from the year before. Based on National Crime Information Center (NCIC) motorcycle theft data for 2012, Honda was the motorcycle brand stolen most often, with 9,082 for the year (representing 20% of all motorcycles stolen). It was followed by Yamaha (7,517=16%), Suzuki (7,017=15%), Kawasaki (4,839=11%) and Harley-Davidson (3,755=8%), rounding out the top five makes. When it comes to states, thieves appear to prefer warm weather -- just like all motorcycle riders. California was first (6,082 ...

of friends in New York.[4][5] Several explanations have been offered for the famous name over the years. According to one version, the group's original "Den Mother," Lauren Bacall, after seeing her husband (Bogart) and his friends return from a night in Las Vegas, said words to the effect of "You look like a *** Rat Pack."[4] "Rat Pack" may also be a shortened version of "Holmby Hills Rat Pack", a reference to the home of Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall[4][5] which served as a regular hangout. Visiting members included Errol Flynn, Nat King Cole, Mickey Rooney, and Cesar Romero. According to Stephen Bogart, the original members of the Holmby Hills Rat Pack were: Frank Sinatra (pack master), Judy Garland (first vice-president), Bacall (den mother), Sid Luft (cage master), Bogart (rat in charge of public relations), Swifty Lazar (recording secretary and treasurer), Nathaniel Benchley (historian), David Niven, Katharine Hepburn, Spencer Tracy, George Cukor, Cary Grant, Rex Harrison, and Jimmy Van Heuse ...
A Holy Life in an Unholy Place “Don’t be afraid, Mary,” the angel told her, “for you have found favor with God!” - (Luke 1:30) - If Jesus were born today, what city do you think He would come from? Maybe Jerusalem, Rome, London, Paris, or New York would come to mind. We wouldn’t expect Jesus to come from Buttonwillow or Pumpkin Patch. Or how about this? Jesus of Las Vegas. That has a negative connotation, doesn’t it? When people of Jesus’ day identified Him as “Jesus of Nazareth,” that is how it was perceived. There was a negative connotation. Yet in that ungodly place lived a godly young woman named Mary, who proved that you can live a Holy Life in an unholy place. In his second epistle, Peter described the world’s effect on two believers. Both lived in wicked cultures, yet one thrived while the other didn’t. First there was Noah. Things were so corrupt when he was alive that God was sorry that He had made man and was ready to judge the earth. Yet in the midst of this dark time No ...

Tupac Shakur was a prolific musician and actor. During his short career, he released four platinum albums and starred in six feature films. Wendy Day, founder of Rap Coalition, knew Tupac well and said he was charismatic, intelligent, funny, business-smart, warm and caring. Despite his success, Tupac couldn’t resist the lure of the streets. He was arrested eight times between 1991 and 1995 and served an eight month prison term for rape. In 1994, Tupac was shot five times and left for dead in the lobby of a New York recording studio. Amazingly, he survived. Given the reality of his criminal lifestyle, Tupac told friends that he never expected to reach his twenty-fifth birthday. His prediction was off by three months. On the night of September 7th, 1996, thousands of boxing fans flocked to the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas for a match between Mike Tyson and Bruce Seldon. Tupac Shakur was one of many celebrities in attendance that night. With him was Marion "Suge" Knight, the CEO of Tupac’s recording stud ...
Now that the Red Sox won the World Series Rudolph Giuliani must be in heaven.  His excuse for switching from the Yanks to the Red Sox was that they are both in the American League, but I know the real reason.  The real reason that Giuliani likes the Sox is that they both like to go out wearing ladies' dresses.     The Red Sox's secret strategy for beating the Yankees involves equiping all their batters with rubber fly masks to freak out Joba Chamberlain. Chamberlain is insisting that the Yankees install mosquito netting over the pitcher's mound.   Knicks owner James Dolan says that to improve the Knicks' shooting accuracy he is going to line the basket rim with hair.   A-Rod told the Dodgers that if he agrees to sign with them he wants them to build him a miniature New York like the one in Las Vegas, complete with a pop-up dummy of George Steinbrenner that he can run over with his own subway train.  Former Dodgers manager Grady Little said he left the team for personal reasons.  He woke up and fou ...

ere's the News Sentinel article in its entirety: Knox musician Scott Hinds takes on musical theater By Mike Gibson Special to the News Sentinel Posted November 30, 2013 at 1:11 p.m. Anyone who’s ever watched rockabilly stalwarts the Royal Hounds play a real gone show at a local club couldn’t help but take special notice of singer/stand-up bassist Scott Hinds. Tall, pompadoured, and handsome, ferociously accomplished on his axe and frenetically over-the-top in his presentation, he takes over a stage with ravenous aplomb. He sends notes flying off the neck of his bass in sheets and volleys, then leaps atop the body of the instrument, howling at the audience with his pomaded coif bobbing in the rafters. And now, after a lark audition in New York, Hinds’ singular talents are gaining him wider recognition. He was tapped this autumn as understudy to the Carl Perkins role in the Las Vegas production of “Million Dollar Quartet.” The show is a musical dramatization of a renowned recording session with El ...

Sedona's Best Fine Art Destination Gallery: Check out this Amaaazing artist! "The Woman of Paris" series... Artist: Ted CoConis Ted was awarded a scholarship to the Art Institute of Chicago during his grade school years, but instead of working toward academic success, he abandoned his formal education, added a few years to his age and trained as a pilot with the US Air Force near the end of World War II. He was honorably discharged a year later when they found out he was underage, so he joined the Merchant Marines and ended up in Russian-occupied Romania. By the time he got back, Chicago seemed pretty tame, so he headed off to Las Vegas and then Los Angeles, finally ending up in San Francisco, where he landed his first freelance commission as an illustrator. On this day, in 1921: One-liner comedian Rodney Dangerfield (Jacob Cohen) was born to a vaudeville performer and his wife on Long Island on this date in 1921. Cohen got started in show biz at the age of 15, but his career tanked in the 1950s and early 1960s (“I played one club . . . it was so far out, my act was reviewed in Field & Stream,” he later said) until he developed the “Rodney Dangerfield” persona as man for whom nothing good ever happens. In 1967, Dangerfield was a last-minute replacement act on The Ed Sullivan Show and stole the show. He built a career in Las Vegas and on late-night television before launching Dangerfield’s Comedy Club in New York in 1969. In the ’80s, Dangerfield starred in a series of raucous comedy movies, including Caddyshack, Easy Money, and Back to School. As the host of HBO specials from his club, he helped cultivate the careers of many young comedians, including Jerry Seinfeld, Rita Rudner, Roseanne Barr, Jim Carrey, and numerous others. Cuomo looking to bring the Catskills back to its old glory. VOTE YES... Cuomo's casino push seeks to return Catskills region to past glory print Email By Freeman Klopott, Bloomberg NewsBloomberg 10:20 p.m. CST, November 3, 2013 ALBANY, N.Y. — Gov. Andrew Cuomo's push to amend New York's constitution to allow Las Vegas-style casinos may end a 59-year wait for Jackie Horner, whose story of her student "Baby" inspired the 1987 movie "Dirty Dancing." In 1954, the owners of the Grossinger's resort in the Catskill Mountains persuaded the dance instructor to move from New York City on the promise that there would someday be gambling to draw larger crowds from Manhattan. The casinos never came, and Grossinger's, like many resorts in the once-booming Borscht Belt, struggled and closed. Horner still lives nearby and continues to give lessons at the few hotels that remain. "It won't be what it was, when hundreds of stars were up here and this was their playground and it was fabulous," Horner, 81, said by telephone ...
Packer's Debts $2b and yet ticking: Never intended to invest in Sri Lanka- (Lanka-e-News-03.Nov.2013, 7.00PM) Kerry Packer was notorious for losing millions of dollars on the gaming tables of the world. But since his father's death in 2005, James Packer has been making far bigger, billion-dollar bets, building and buying casinos around the world. And so far every one has lost. The total damage to Mr Packer and his shareholders in Crown Limited, according to tonight's ABC1's Four Corners, comes to nearly US$2 billion. The bulk of this money, around US$1.3 billion, was lost in Las Vegas, but there have also been setbacks in Canada, the UK, Russia, Singapore and Macau. All Mr Packer's bets in Las Vegas were made at a time when America's sub-prime mortgage disaster was already under way and the global financial crisis was brewing. It was in July 2007 that two Bear Stearns hedge funds in New York went spectacularly bust from which Mr. Packer is yet to recover. So how smart was it to be buying back then? "It wa ...

Casino debate at SU ends with majority opposing referendum issue By Teri Weaver Syracuse, N.Y. — On the one hand, more casinos could end up costing New Yorkers in extra social costs, luring people who can't afford to gamble to lose their money. On the other hand, new casino resorts could inject new jobs into depressed Upstate counties and help lower property taxes across the state. But who in the New York casino debate has the upper hand? At a forum at Syracuse University's Maxwell School on Wednesday night, those against expanded gaming won over a crowd of about 50 people. On Nov. 5, voters will have the final say on whether New York changes its constitution to allow as many as seven new Las Vegas-style casinos in the state. Gov. Andrew Cuomo, a Democrat in his third year, has pushed for the gaming expansion. He says four initial new casino and resort hotels, combined with agreements he's made with Indian tribes already running gaming facilities, could create as many as 10,000 construction and permanen ...

So, I'm sure a lot of you have seen the tv show Person of Interest, or the movie Eagle Eye. If not, the concept is that the government builds a machine that is linked to security cameras, cell phones, webcams, phones, computers, and the internet and can watch your every move. In theory, by doing this, they can predict when crimes are going to happen before they happen. Well, it's not so much Sci-Fi as it is solid fact. TrapWire is a network of security cameras that can watch you everywhere you go, track your every movement, perform identity verification, take notes on your daily routines and patterns, etc. Sorry to tell you this isn't a tv show, it's actually real, and being used in major cities like New York, Washington D.C., Las Vegas and parts of Australia. It's all linked to a central brain that decides who to track and when to track them based on criteria that isn't clear to anyone but the government. PRISM is an NSA program that monitors social networks for "potential threats to national security." ...

Annual Super Bowl weekend UFC event moved from Las Vegas to New Jersey in 2014 The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) had previously mentioned tentative plans to move their annual Super Bowl weekend mega card out of Las Vegas, Nevada, for 2014, and now those plans are official. For the first time in a decade, the annual early February event will shift from "Sin City" and instead take place in Newark, N.J., according to comments made by FOX Sports employee Jay Glazer at the UFC Fan Expo on Friday (July 5, 2013). The unnamed fight card will take place at the Prudential Center in Newark on Feb. 1, 2014, and will coincide with Super Bowl XLVIII, which goes down on Feb. 2 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford. With FOX Sports hosting the 2014 Super Bowl and the UFC clearly having a major working relationship with the network, the plan is for FOX to "own" the weekend by giving sports fans all they can handle across multiple platforms. "We think that Super Bowl week in New York is going to be like anything els ...
Las VegaS (FOX5) - Thirty-two people were charged after a multi-state, four-year-long investigation into biker gangs in several states, including Nevada. Twenty-five of those people were arrested Thursday during what police are calling "Operation: Pure Luck." Las Vegas Metro Police say the name came about when the opportunity to investigate The Vagos outlaw motorcycle gang unexpectedly presented itself in 2009. Four years later, multiple state and federal law enforcement agencies joined forces to serve search warrants and make dozens of arrests. Many of the suspects are from the Las Vegas area, but spin-off investigations led to cities in California, Utah, Arizona, Texas, New York and Hawaii. The investigation required undercover infiltration of at least five motorcycle gangs or supporters of motorcycle gangs with histories of drug trafficking, violent behavior and criminal activity. "Numerous undercover operatives and confidential informants infiltrated multiple groups on multiple occasions," said Metro' ...
Hi everyone. Matt Baker here with a question: How did New York City lose its title as boxing mecca? For years, Madison Square Garden was the ultimate venue for boxing (though there were many great clubs and arenas where major boxing events were held, including Yankee Stadium). But, in the last few decades, Las Vegas has so utterly pervaded the boxing world, the sport has all but forgotten about New York. How and why did this happen? I'm seeking the opinion of anyone and everyone who may have the answer, or even part of an answer. Thank you.

Italian thoughts about HERITAGE: MASSIMO CONSORTIs BLOG (translated with google): "... To return to our heritage that belongs to humanity as it is our just because it is located on the territory of the most indifferent, apathetic and uncaring nation that exists in the world. My god, let's sell it! Let's start immediately. So, Pompeii dismantle and remount in Bavaria. Etna is easily transportable in Scotland, at least Lochness Lake will have scenery more appealing. The Medici villas we give an each to Denver, Baltimore, Oklahoma City, Reno, Las Vegas, Philadelphia (but only because it reminds us of the cheese), Chicago, Boston, New York, Honolulu, Los Angeles and San Diego. The Boboli Gardens plant them in Shanghai and the Tower of Pisa in Mumbai (makes pendant with the Taj Mahal). The Colosseum we could surrender to Berlin, while the Trevi Fountain could make his terrible figure in Innsbruck Center. I bet that the reputation in these countries and in these cities, with our monuments would raise the GDP of ...
I switch back to my night class again. This summer won't be easy as last summer such as going to Grad Night at Santa Anita Racetrack, New York, Canada, Watching Fireworks at Simi Valley, CSULA student orientation, Chilling at Shirish's house before he goes to NYU. I remember how the homeless at Las Vegas disrespecting me. It was during summer when I resigned as leader, and left Team Shawna Group 3. Watching the London Olympics, Passing my Early Start Math and DMV drive test, went to uncle's house, and stay for the night. Power went out at my workplace on the day I was going to watch a film at the AHS Lecturehall, Went to AHS to visit my teachers, Went to Las Vegas twice, and on the last day of longest summer break I saw a giant Ratzilla died on the mouse trap. Those were the best days of my life.

State Legislature passes bill allowing for Las Vegas-style gambling in New York
ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - New York's State Legislature completed its 2013 session by approving four Las Vegas-type casinos for upstate, tax-free zones to attract employers, and cameras to catch speeders in New York City. New York City would be allowed to set up 20 to 40 "speed cameras" in school zones to catch and deter speeders. Friday night's final passage of the casino deal means four casinos could be located in the regions around Albany, Binghamton and the Catskills-Hudson Valley area. Two casinos could be located in one region, and that would likely be in the Catskills. The Legislature also approved Gov. Andrew Cuomo's plan to give new employers and their employees 10 years of tax-free living if they locate on or near college campuses. The bills will become law when Cuomo signs them
James Gandolfini, a Soft-Spoken Hollywood Heavyweight Ron Onesti's Memories of James Gandolfini... A Teddy Bear Hollywood Heavyweight As the countless reports come in about the untimely passing of 51-year-old actor James Gandolfini, the term “a class act” appears in practically every one. I had the good fortune to work with Jim at a few Sopranos cast parties at the Borgata Casino in Atlantic City. I was managing the daughter of Louis Prima, Lena Prima at the time. We, along with the Lon Bronson Orchestra from Las Vegas and The Bronx Tale’s Louis Vanaria from New York, provided the musical element to the parties. He was such a soft-spoken, sweet guy, very generous with his time. I never saw him dodge a fan, even when walking through the casino floor. His true “Teddy-bear” personality was about as far from his alter-ego Tony Soprano as you could get. We were in a hotel elevator once in Memphis. It was the Peabody Hotel where the famed “Duck March” would occur twice daily. They are traine ...

Before pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Saul "Canelo" Alvarez meet to unify their junior middleweight world titles, they will hit the road for an 11-city, two-country media and fan tour to promote the year's biggest fight. They meet on Sept. 14 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas in the second fight of the 30-month mega-deal that Mayweather signed earlier this year for up to six fights. The tour is the biggest one mounted for a fight since 2007, when Mayweather and Oscar De La Hoya also hit 11 cities in the lead up to their junior middleweight championship fight, which set the all-time pay-per-view record with nearly 2.5 million buys. On Tuesday, tour manager Kelly Swanson announced the specific times and locations for each tour stop, all of which are open and free to the public on a first-come, first-served basis. Mayweather and Alvarez will come face to face for the first time on Monday, the same day tickets for the fight go on sale, in New York at 2 p.m. ET at the Pedestrian Walk in Times Square ...

Chris, Breanna, and I have just seen the latest Superman movie, "Man of Steel". We liked it. Well, most of it. It's a whole new reinvented Superman, with a terrific cast, and everyone did a great job, including me, by cheering and hissing at all the appropriate moments. Henry Cavill filled the role admirably, but undoubtedly made thousands of mere mortals (guys) a bit self-conscious about all the six packs we've packed on. He plays a more introspective, tormented, serious Superman who, initially, seems a bit bummed-out by his circumstances on Earth. After all, he didn't come hurtling in from Krypton and land in some exciting place like Las Vegas, New York, or Monte Carlo. It's a farm, in Kansas.. and his new blue suit doesn't even have a zipper. I'd be bummed-out, too. But, the film was great fun, although it did get a bit long. Glad the seat was comfortable, and I'd visited the restroom first. It's a little-known fact, but when I was a kid, I WAS Superman. I was also, occasionally, Robin Hood and Davy Cr ...

New York is stunning. We are both sunburnt despite sunscreen. We've been to all the 'to do' places and fly out tonight for Los Angeles. Very touched by the 9/11 memorial. From there we join another tour that includes San Fransisco, Yosemite, Las Vegas and more. Then Rick joins us again, (yes, yippee, awesome!!!) in San Diego for 3 days. From then it's back to Los Angeles for a couple of days before the long trip back home. I pinch myself every day just to be sure I'm not dreaming!
Still feel sick with jealousy that my folks have been sightseeing in New York & Las Vegas this week. "Hello, Esther Rantzen. Neglect?"
Someone asked me if I thought that I had lived a full life. My response was this: I have visited the Great Pyramids of Giza and did an archaeological dig in Egypt, saw the mosques in Turkey, went zip lining through the jungle and snorkeled in Costa Rica, did a pub crawl in London, went skiing in Aspen, learned how to fly on a trapeze and fly an airplane in the same week, went skydiving, rock climbing, drove through the cliffs they call streets in San Fransisco, presented at the Indiana Academy of Science for my research, climbed to the top of ancient ruins in Chichen Itza, got lost in New York during a hurricane, got a tattoo in Las Vegas before a Motley Crue concert on Valentine's Day, went waive running during a tropical storm, worked as a forensic pathology assistant for the coroner's office, randomly drove to Miami in a convertible to celebrate my birthday, hung out with celebrities, learned how to shoot guns and ride horses, sang in a band, pierced my eyebrow and dyed my hair every color under the s ...

What is your background? I grew up in Portland, Oregon in the United States. I graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a degree in Soil Sciences. I then went to the University of Maryland to work on my Master’s Degree while working in research at the Agricultural Research Center in Washington, D.C. How did you wind up in the UAE? I was bored to death working in the research laboratory when I happened to look up and see an airliner taking off from the nearby airport. I immediately answered an ad in the newspaper for a job as a flight attendant based in New York. The company was involved in all sorts of charter flying such as transporting asparagus farmers from Yakima, Washington to Las Vegas, Nevada, to month long, around the world flights. In the late 70s I took a four-month Hajj contract based in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. I enjoyed it so much that I joined Saudi Arabian Airlines just for the opportunity to be based all over the world. One day, while walking in the desert, I kicked over a rock ...
I've been watching a few trade shows and conventions. Las Vegas now is the biggest show which has attracted jewelers, designer and manufacturers from all over the world. There are many great exhibits at Vegas and I know a lot of my suppliers came there from various countries. I wanted to check who won the jewelry design awards.Las Vegas--Edgier designers ruled the evening at the Couture Design Awards on Saturday night, with two first-time exhibitors taking home a pair of awards each. London-based Tomasz Donocik won for the diamond jewelry above $20,000 as well as in the category of debuting at Couture. Alp Sagnak of Atelier Minyon, a New York-based designer, took home top honors in silver and the people’s choice award. This year’s Human Spirit Award went to designer David Yurman, who insisted he couldn’t accept the award by himself and called to the stage the woman he called his love and his muse, his wife Cybil. I'll get you the pictures of award winning pieces. Please watch this page.

But this newcomer has set his sights on multiple locations off-Strip and his controversial past includes a wake of serious charges and allegations. Conrad Gallagher is planning to open PoshBurger Bistro on March 15, in the same retail complex as Dom DeMarco's Pizzeria & Bar. Gallagher is a former culinary wunderkind, winning his first Michelin Star at age 25. In recent years his reputation has been dominated by a string of failed ventures in Ireland, New York and South Africa., directly affecting his restaurant workers, as much as optimistic investors. Reports of his financial impropriety on three continents abound. An arrest and subsequent acquittal for the theft of $13,000 in paintings became a tabloid cause célèbre. In July of last year, The New York Post gave an infamous zero star review of Gallagher's The Purple Fig. The restaurant closed amidst charges of not paying staff or suppliers and o ...

Explain something to me, Americans. Why are the major cities in America almost never a state capital? These days I was surprised when I saw on a map that the capital of Florida, for example, was nor Miami, nor Orlando, neither Tampa... but the never unheard of (to me) "Tallahassee". New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, New Orleans, Detroit, Seattle, San Francisco, Las Vegas... they're all very traditional worldwide known major cities, and none of them are capitals on their respective states. Is there any kind of pattern to chose a smaller city to host the capital, or every case has its own isolated background, and it's just all about a strange coincidence?
JIMMIE JOHNSON No Rest for the Wicked, but Still Wicked Awesome   HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. – It was a long week for the driver of the No. 48 Lowe’s Chevrolet fielded by Hendrick Motorsports in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. And while there was certainly no rest for the wicked after the five-time champion won the Daytona 500 last Sunday, Johnson wouldn’t deny that it was wicked awesome and well worth the chaos that ensued.   Highlights of the week: visits to the Late Show with David Letterman and Good Morning America, cupcake making in Los Angeles, stops in Las Vegas, Dallas and New York, a contract extension with Johnson’s longstanding sponsor, Lowe’s, and a late-night video that went viral with the 48 crew dancing on the front stretch of Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway and crew chief Chad Knaus popping wheelies on a dirt bike.   Now, a little rest is in order as Johnson gets back to his day job Friday morning at Phoenix International Raceway. His victory in the Great American Race has him ato ...
I heard "Is this the way to Amarillo" twice today. I thought this was strange, but I didn't realise it was the best selling song in the UK in 2005 until I looked it up just now. I get the impression that Americans enjoy singing songs about places in America. Just off the top of my head I can think of song titles that mention New York, Chicago, Alabama, California, Compton, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Brooklyn, San Francisco, Nutbush, Beverly Hills, La Grange, Kokomo and er Graceland. The only UK place mentioned in a UK song title that I can think of is the River Tyne. Oh, and that little old town in the south east mentioned in a song by the Clash. Not sure what my point is, I was just rambling, but feel free to remind me of British places in song titles if you like.
Ruby Hinds Mezzo-Soprano Biography Ruby Hinds newest project is her stunning one-woman multi-media show entitled See there in the Distance, which has enjoyed successful performances in California, Las Vegas and New York and on PBS. This one-woman show chronicles the life and accomplishments of legendary contralto Marian Anderson. Her most recent triumph as Marian Anderson in See there in the distance, took place at the Beverly Hills Playhouse for Camelot Artists and due to the overwhelming response the standing room only performances were extended “there were moments when one could, if he chose to close his eyes, almost envision Marian Anderson and her resonant voice as brought forth to the stage by Ruby Hinds.” The creation of new roles in 20th century operas and bringing new perspective to standard operatic heroines has been the hallmark of this artist’s career. Ruby Hinds garnered critical acclaim as a “graceful and seductive Venus” in her debut performance of Venus in Wagner's Tannhauser for ...
