Heavy fog blankets Lower Manhattan, including the now-open One World Trade Center. Julio Cortez/AP One World Trade Center, or the "Freedom Tower," as it was formerly known, soars above New York City, finally filling a void left by the 9/11 terror attacks. The brilliant blue-silver facade glints no matter where you are in the city—nothing less than a "beacon of hope, just like the Statue Of Liberty," says the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which runs the site in a joint venture with real estate giant the Durst Organization. The tower is now the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere. And it's also supposed to be one of the greenest—a first on its scale to aim for the US Green Building Council's LEED gold certification, a coveted prize for sustainable building design. One World Trade Center features lighting that reacts to sunshine, rain harvesting, and a state-of-the-art onsite fuel cell installation, one of the largest of its kind in the world. In 2008, then-New York Gov. David A. Pate ...
This isn't Florida, but I thought I would share. I was standing in line to get into the 9/11 Museum in New York City and noticed the clouds reflecting on the new Freedom Tower. Shot with the iPhone 6 in HDR Mode.
TB ton one of the best moments of my life... New York City, and seeing the freedom tower
Suzanne Harvey has challenged me to provide 5 days of full color photos! So I have waited to the last hour after sifting through some of my favorites and I selected something very colorful! The "Freedom Tower" at One World Trade Center in New York City taken in July of 2013, the building was lit up in the USA's colors of red, white, and blue! Tomorrow I will show my second photo and challenge a few others to this!

What's This? Image: Dana Edelson/NBC/NBCU Photo Bank via Getty Images By Jonathan Ellis2014-11-02 05:43:30 UTC Chris Rock is a comedian who pushes boundaries, and that was certainly true when he returned to Saturday Night Live as host this weekend. See also: SNL star Michael Che doesn't understand street harassment In his opening monologue, Rock, who was a cast member on the show from 1990-93, made jokes that touched on the 2013 Boston Marathon bombings and the 2001 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center. While some of his edgy material drew laughter and applause from the studio audience, there were portions that were met only with nervous chuckles. Boston Marathon "Tomorrow's the New York City marathon," Rock, who last hosted in 1996, began. "What could go wrong there, right?" He then assured the audience that New York would be fine, "just like Boston's fine after the marathon." "That was probably the most frightening, sadistic terrorist attack ever," he said, describing the strain on the competitor ...

This is utterly crazy footage of B.A.S.E. jumpers diving off the Freedom Tower. Officials in New York City were less than thrilled and have filed charges against four individuals.
Justin Casquejo! You're my kind of a Daredevil! WTC! Yeah! This boy managed to sneak into the top 104th floor of the One World Trade Center or Freedom Tower in New York City (remember 911?) undetected by the building's tight security.

The new Freedom Tower in New York City is projected to be 1776 feet tall. God Bless America
My flight from Las Vegas arrived in New York City on a path that took us right over Manhattan with a gorgeous aerial view -- the Freedom Tower, nearly finished; the Empire State Building, handsomely dressed in my favorite (and rare these days) white; Times Square, bright as the sun; and Central Park, a great, dark rectangle looming. What an awesome reminder of why I love this gorgeous, steel jungle. It is all things, and all mine. Home, sweet home.

WOW! I just discovered on Google Earth another massive buried megalopolis with many pyramids, giant edifices, and structures, particularly a vast urban spread of buried buildings and complexes, even towers and all kinds of edifices. This vast city is in the Greenland Sea between northeast Greenland and Svalbard Island (Norway) and is roughly 180 miles northwest of the seaport village of Longyearbyen, Svalbard. The undersea megalopolis covers an area of 60 miles by 60 miles square (3,600 sq. miles), which is equal in size to the entire land areas of the cities of New York City, Los Angeles, Houston, Chicago, Dallas, Phoenix, Nashville, Indianapolis, and San Antonio all combined. It is located at -13,700 to -11,000 feet below sea level. The tallest edifice is a tower about 1,600 feet tall (1,593’ to be exact) which I call the “Greenland Tower”. It is 183’ less (about 12 stories less) than the height of the new 1776’ tall “One World Tower” (Freedom Tower) in NYC's WTC Ground Zero; yet 193 ...
Rhode Island today...awesome fall colors on drive...saw the Freedom Tower skyscraper that is replacing the WTC Twin Towers in New York City yesterday. Looks like its almost finished.
What a beautiful day! Left at 8am on a van tour of New York City. Went by Harlem and along the Hudson River. Then went to Times Square and walked about including some shirt shopping. Wish the sales people could speak English. Drove through more of NY and then down to the area of Ground Zero. Couldn't ses the reflection pools as we did not have reservations for that. Did see where they are building the new Freedom Tower and South Tower and the fire house where all the firefighters were killed. Ate NY pizza and a hot dog from the street vendor. Bought another sweatshirt from a street vendor 50% cheaper than before. More touring and then out to Ellis Island by ferry and then to Liberty Island and the Statue Of Liberty. Both very impressive. We found a bunch of Schenks but no Voges who came through Ellis Island. Drove through New Jersey and then back to the campground at 6pm. On to Gettysburg and to Hershey tomorrow. Mary Beth we'll be calling you!!!

I'd like to share something I never knew and I live in New York City. On my way home from New Jersey I saw the Freedom Tower completely lit in red, white and blue lights. This is different from how the Empire State Building does it. The whole building was lit. I hope they keep that.
Here's my letter re 9-11 printed today in the Dallas Morning News: On this, the 11th anniversary of Sept. 11, my mind wanders back to an early visit this summer to New York City, when, approaching Lower Manhattan on the Staten Island Ferry and taking in the million-dollar view of the Big Apple, I was heartened by the sight of the beautiful Freedom Tower under construction at the World Trade Center site. The tower’s construction had just reached its full height, and it is truly a wonder to behold. Filling the void left by the fallen towers, the Freedom Tower speaks loudly and proudly, “We’re back! You can’t keep us down”. However, along with great pride, a tiny nagging doubt intruded into my thoughts. It could become a perfect target. I pray not. Never again. Polly Shaw, Argyle

While skirting the edge of New York City along the Hudson River I could see the new Freedom Tower being constructed high abovethe New York City skyline. Still nothing seems to be as majestic as the Empire State Building which was a world wonder and king of skyscrapers for decades before. Wish I was able to get a pic to share, but traffic was intence
One World Trade Center, the so-called Freedom Tower currently under construction in Lower Manhattan, technically became New York City's tallest building on Monday, as workers erected steel columns on the 100th floor, 1,271 feet above the street, to make it stand 21 feet higher than the Empire State ...
