(EMAIL SENT TO ALL US BNSE PERSONNEL on 9/11/2014) Hello everyone, Thirteen years ago I was driving to work and heard on the radio an airplane had crashed into the World Trade Center. Didn’t think much of it as New York City has a long history of airplanes crashing into buildings including a B-25 that crashed into the Empire State Building at the end of WWII. Shortly later I saw the second attack live on television. Declared or undeclared, the United States of America has been at war ever since. Our service here in this remote theater is little recognized and overlooked amongst the history sweeping around us today: Ukraine, ISIS, Syria, Yemen, Ebola and Princess Kate is pregnant again. People are fickle consumers of news. That is to be expected; peacekeepers and nation-builders are unheralded and soon forgotten. Yet what we do here is vitally important to victory in the greater war on terror. This region has been at the heart of world conflict for 3,000 years. Only 100 years ago the Balkans ignited WWI ...

Using her brush to seamlessly camouflage their body into the world behind, she’s been painting her mostly nude subjects in front of famous landmarks like the Brooklyn Bridge, Guggenheim Museum, Empire State Building, Central Park and the New York City skyline.
Today I sent the following statement to the Empire State Building behalf of residents of my district, New York City, State and the world, I am writing to urge your consideration of the Empire State Building lighting up in Gold one night during the month of September in conjunction with National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Thank you for your consideration in advance.

New York City: Land of Waiting in Lines. Enjoyed the time with the family. Went to the 86th floor of the Empire State Building. Saw dinosaur bones and gems at the Museum. Talked to a policeman on horseback. Had a perfectly done steak at Bubba Gumps. Loved hearing my grandson laugh. Altogether an enjoyable time. Now back to reality.

New York -- Three nights ago, in the first inning of the first Red Sox-Yankees game of 2014, Derek Jeter was standing on second base, teasing Dustin Pedroia for making a sensational diving play to steal a hit from friend-turned-foe Jacoby Ellsbury. Then, ever so briefly, he glanced over his right shoulder and locked eyes with Xander Bogaerts. The symmetry was undeniable.Jeter, who turns 40 in June, is in the final season of a Hall of Fame career that has spanned two decades. He has won five World Series and collected 3,326 hits, ninth on the all-time list. As the Yankees' everyday shortstop since 1996, he ranks with the Empire State Building and the Statue Of Liberty as the most recognizable New York City icons, so much so that when manager Joe Girardi made the sensible baseball decision to rest him for Saturday's matinee after a game the previous night, he had to answer for fans who would feel cheated that Jeter wasn't in the lineup."I wasn't hired to put on a farewell tour," Girardi said.Bogaerts, 21, is ...

Ten Tallest NYC Landmarks Empire State Building The Empire State Building is the best-known symbol of New York City. It was the final and most celebrated product of the skyscraper frenzy produced by the economic boom of the 1920s. Its completion in April, 1931 on the former site of the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel, marked the transformation of midtown from New York’s preeminent residential area for the social elite into the commercial center of the metropolis. The landmarked first floor interior contains modernistic details, such as the aluminum silhouette wall, an aluminum mezzanine bridge, and zig-zag ribbed ceilings. All of these symbolically suggest the technological future foreshadowed by the creation of the world’s tallest building. Photos: (1) LPC (2) MCNY (3) MCNY

Brilliant day and a half in New York City- Saw Times Square, wondered around beautiful Grand Central Station with a slice of pizza in my hand, had a yummy burger at Ruby Tuesdays, got a yellow cab, went to the top of the Rockefeller and saw the most fantastic views, strolled in the sun around Central Park for hours while eating a large pretzel, had a tasty Chinese in china town, wondered around soho and Little Italy, got cheesecake near Madison square and finally walked up broadway past the Empire State Building! My neck hurts from looking up so much, but so worth the pain- good bye New York, its been delightfully splendid 😄 x

Politics students at The Sixth Form College, Solihull were recently treated to a visit to New York City to explore US political institutions. The visit saw some students return for a second year. Second year A level student Joe Rogers commented, “Last year’s trip was so informative and enjoyable that some of us were eager to make a return visit.” Included in the visit was a tour of the United Nations, the World Trade Centre site, the East Side Tenement Museum and the Empire State Building. They had a guided tour of Central Park and saw the Statue Of Liberty, took a stroll along the recently developed Highline elevated walk and saw other famous landmarks amid wintry conditions in the Big Apple. Assistant Curriculum Leader, Mike Pattison said, “Each year we try to experience something different which is relevant to the A level curriculum. This year we visited New York’s Supreme Court, which was fascinating. Students were able to observe evidence being presented in a firearms trial.” The students ...
Seeing as it's the 30th anniversary of the TalkBack album this year and Nile Rodgers recently cleaned up at the Grammys with Daft Punk, here's an excerpt from my Spoons Story about how we first met. I'd already done the Empire State Building, the tallest in New York City at the time, and all the other tourist duties with my family on a short trip there when I was younger. But that was mostly a blur now. This time was completely different. We were there for business; to in any way possible leave our little mark on arguably the greatest city in the world. When we finally hit the stage that night we were, as expected, more tied up in knots than usual. This was one show we needed to absolutely nail to the wall. The audience was jammed right up to the edge of the stage, eager to get their first glimpse of Boy George, primed for something to happen. Because of New York's reputation in movies and the special tour we'd gotten of mutant-town the night before, we assumed anything could happen. And it did. The light ...

The other night I saw the pilot - first episode - of the Lone Ranger and have enjoyed others since. Comcast channel - COZI TV. I remember listening to the radio show every afternoon sitting on the kitchen floor in the farmhouse, along with other classics such as Straight Arrow, The Shadow, Green Lantern, Hopalong Cassidy. Every summer they took a break, to return in the fall. I was devastated. We got our first TV in 1954 - no picture, but the two channels had clear voices and what we called "snow" - a black screen covered in pulsating white flecks. We actually lay on the floor and listened to the shows. Then my father got an antenna that rotated on the roof. For each channel one would stand in the living room and yell to him in the attic to let him know when he'd tuned-in an actual picture one could discern. And this was sixty miles from the strongest TV signals in the world - the Empire State Building in (pathetic) New York City. Later Desi Arnaz and Lucille Ball owned the company that developed the firs ...

CitiBike is a little more than six months old in NYC and it is a phenomenal success. Check out these amazing stats. The City also released an updated statistical fact sheet card for Citi Bike’s first 5 million miles: Estimated miles traveled to date: 10.08 million, the equivalent of 404 trips around the Earth; roughly a third of the distance to Mars; nearly four times the length of all paved roads in the United States; and nearly eight times the total miles run by all 50,000 New York City marathoners last weekend. Number of trips (as of 9 a.m. November 8): 5,172,616: more rides than the populations of Brooklyn and Queens combined; more than the populations of 28 states; one million more riders than annual visitors to the Empire State Building and equal to the annual visitors of the Natural History Museum; more than twice the annual ridership of DC’s Capital Bike Share, the nation’s second largest system, which took nearly three years to reach 5 million rides. Seth - The Eternal Validity of the Soul - Chapter 1 "You cannot understand yourselves, and you cannot accept my independent existence, until you rid yourself of the notion personality is a "here and now" attribute of consciousness. Now some of the things I may say about physical reality in this book may startle you, but remember I am viewing it from an entirely different standpoint. You are presently focused entirely within it, wondering perhaps what else if anything there may be outside. I am outside, returning momentarily to a dimension I know and loved. I am not in your terms a resident, however. While I have a psychic "passport," there are still some problems of translation, inconveniences of entry I must contend with. Many people, I hear, have lived for years within New York City and never taken a tour through the Empire State Building, while many foreigners are well acquainted with it. And so while you have a physical address, I may still be able to point out some very strange and miraculous psychic ...

“Many people think they can break the Ten Commandments right and left and get by with it. That reminds me of the whimsical story of the man who jumped off the Empire State Building in New York City. As he went sailing by the fiftieth floor, a man looked out the window and said to him, ‘Well, how is it?’ The falling man replied, ‘So far, so good.’ That is not where the law of gravity enforces itself. Fifty more floors down and the man will find out, ‘So far, not so good.’ The interesting thing is that a law must be enforced to be a law and therefore God says in Ezekiel 18:4, ‘The soul that sins, it shall die.’ The Law must be enforced and the breaker of the Law must pay the penalty.” J. Vernon McGee

Dear Friends & Family. Just wanting to let you know that it's great to be back home after spending several days in New York City on business, meeting with a customer from England and picking up new suppliers for exporting of their products... Joan & I also had the opportunity to spend some time site seeing (crazy city!) Central Park, Trump Towers ('the Donald' sends his regards), Empire State Building, Statue Of Liberty, and of course, (a humbling experience...where nothing really mattered...not business, or anything material), "Ground Zero", the "9/11 Memorial. In reflection, America is still the "greatest nation" in all the earth. The expressions of the folks visiting this site from around the world said it all.. We are still "the land of the free and the brave"... May God (continue) to bless us all... Happy Birthday America!
JOSEPH RAVITTS SPEAKING: On January 28, 1937, Mrs. Gladys Havens Scudellari, Irish wife of an Italian architect named Erman Scudellari (who had laid the foundation of the Empire State Building), gave birth to what was to be her only daughter out of five children. Mary Cecilia Anne Scudellari grew up on Long Island, played basketball in high school, then became a nurse and worked at the famous Bellevue Hospital in New York City. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 1965, a time came when Mary felt that God was calling her to move west. Making it as far as Necedah, Wisconsin, she lived for a time with a couple named Zimmer, who raised goats, so she helped them raise goats. Then she moved south to Rockford, Illinois, where she performed in-home care for two or three elderly women in succession. At the passing of one of these women, Mary was one of three or more witnesses who heard an unexplainable sound of movement in the room -- just as the dying woman sat up with a beaming smile, looking toward the unseen sour ...

1947 SPORTS (BOXING) The first televised heavyweight boxing championship bout was between Joe Louis and Jersey Walcott (Arnold Raymond Cream, 1914-) on December 5 from Madison Square Garden. My flight from Las Vegas arrived in New York City on a path that took us right over Manhattan with a gorgeous aerial view -- the Freedom Tower, nearly finished; the Empire State Building, handsomely dressed in my favorite (and rare these days) white; Times Square, bright as the sun; and Central Park, a great, dark rectangle looming. What an awesome reminder of why I love this gorgeous, steel jungle. It is all things, and all mine. Home, sweet home.
Four hours ago, I visited New York City! Commonly known as The Big Apple. But I'd rather call it as the "City that Never Sleeps'. First, I went to Statue Of Liberty. I was really fascinated by how it was built. I can't believe that I saw it with my two eyes. For real! Because before I've only seen it in one of the cigarette's commercial. I took some pictures of it. I'll upload it later. Then after that, I went to Empire State Building where King Kong managed to go to the top of it. So I went inside and I was on the elevator from the ground floor up to the 73rd floor. Well, to tell you you honestly, its a bit tiring to stand . An act of ignorance. XD. And then after that, I decided to visit Fulton Ferry Pier (near Brooklyn Bridge) and have some fresh air there. Its quite relaxing there. Then, one of my colleagues told us to go to Cafe Habana just to try the famous coffee there. And it's not a big disappointment to go there. Their coffee is really good compared to coffee here onboard. :D. Finally, we visit ...

When I saw the text, I literally had to squat down to keep from fainting! I was about to board the 2nd of 3  legs on my way to Philly to take COMLEX PE (the DO version of the USMLE CS exam) and I got a text that my last leg had been canceled!! My initial thought was PANIC!!! Then I settled down, took a moment to pray (and texted my wife to pray!) and set about re-arranging my travel for the day.   It turned out that DC was getting snowed in so I couldn’t fly from Dulles to Philly that night. I ended up flying into LaGuardia and driving from New York City to Philly. I got a GPS for my rental car, which kept getting confused so I ended up getting to see Macy’s, Madison Square Garden and the Empire State Building all lit up at night as well as driving through the Mid-Town tunnel AND the Holland tunnel. A nice tour of NYC, granted, but I was in a bit of a rush!   All-in-all, it took me an hour to get out of NYC, then two hours on the New Jersey Turnpike and another half-hour in Pennsylvania before I ...
I'll give Babyface Credit ...Who needs Hollywood then you can Blow-up the planet at Home and then You-tube it as True History in the making...LONG LIVE KIM San Francisco -- YouTube said Thursday that a North Korean propaganda video showing New York City under attack had been removed from the site over a copyright complaint by the makers of the “Call of Duty” video game. The video posted by North Korea, which is poised to conduct a nuclear test, was shot as a dream sequence, with a young man seeing himself on board a North Korean space shuttle launched into orbit by the same type of rocket Pyongyang successfully tested in December. As the shuttle circles the globe — to the tune of “We Are the World” — the video zooms in on countries below, including a joyfully re-unified Korea. The focus then switches to a city — shrouded in the U.S. flag — under apparent missile attack with its skyscrapers, including what appears to be the Empire State Building, either on fire or in ruins. “Somewhere in ...

does anyone think kane chronicles and percy jackson and the olympians take place in the same time/place because in kane chronicles 1.Amos states that Manhattan has its own set of gods and that they must be kept separate from Egyptian gods. He says this while looking at the Empire State Building, the current home of Mount Olympus. 2.When the Egyptian goddess Bast needed a portal she said that "I try to avoid Manhattan, but this is an emergency." She presumably wanted to avoid Manhattan because she knew that Olympus is there. 3.Later in the book, Thoth mentions that the Greeks confuse him with Hermes, something he takes offense to as Hermes is apparently of a very different person. 4.In the second book, The Throne of Fire, Carter catches a glimpse of a winged horse flying around Manhattan, and recalls what Amos said about Manhattan and its gods. It is unknown however if the pegasus was Blackjack, the original Pegasus, or simply a pegasus that lives around New York City. 5.Nico di Angelo mentions having trav ...

Hotel Manager: Admiral General, welcome to New York City. And while you’re here, I highly recommend a visit to the Empire State Building, before you or one of your cousins takes it down. h
New York City what an experience! Wall Street, Statue Of Liberty, Katz Diner, Grand Central Station, Central Park, The Empire State Building, 9/11 Memorial, Rays Pizza, Times Square, Rockefeller Center, Queens. The traffic was like nothing I had ever experienced cars, taxis, bicycles, skate boards etc. all in the street. Our driver was great dropping us off at each attraction. As a retired Police Officer he had a permit that allowed him to park just about anywhere.
I'd like to share something I never knew and I live in New York City. On my way home from New Jersey I saw the Freedom Tower completely lit in red, white and blue lights. This is different from how the Empire State Building does it. The whole building was lit. I hope they keep that.
List of things/places I want to go in New York City so far: Empire State Building (I want to go up it, Mum doesn't lol) Statue Of Liberty (including going in the head xD) 9/11 Memorial Site American Museum of Natural History Times Square
New York City, Empire State Building (1985). Painting of New York Skyline with World Trade Center, in phosporescent acylic paint on canvas by Thomas Bacher, purchased from Harris Gallery. 42"x 60".
Two New York City cops shot ten people outside the Empire State Building this morning. One of them was Jeffrey Johnson, a laid-off accessories designer who allegedly killed his former boss with a handgun. Johnson apparently pointed (but didn't fire) his gun at police; the officers opened fire, killing Johnson and shooting or grazing nine other people. Again, Johnson shot only his intended victim. All of the bystanders were hit or grazed by police bullets.

My precious wife is taking Jaycie, our 16 year old Granddaughter to New York City for her birthday! They leave in the morning - coming back Saturday. They are staying in Times Square area, seeing 'Phantom of the Opera' and 'The Lion King', visiting Ground Zero, Empire State Building, Statute of Liberty, American Doll Store, Central Park and the Apple Store at Central Park. Boy are they 'stoked' and ready to go - taking large suitcases with very few clothes - what does that mean??? NYC is our favorite place to go! Have fun Girls - Popie loves YOU! Happy Birthday jaycie!
With the beauty of the Empire State Building and Chrysler Building in sight, one thing is for sure...Upon visiting The Kitano New York, "Manhattan's finest boutique hotel," your enthusiasm and excitement for New York City, will soar to new heights!
In Starbucks at Macy's department store, New York City on my way to the Empire State Building. Went to a Broadway show and then enjoyed Times Square- the people and the colors until after midnight! Set sail for the Caribbean tonight!
New York City is known for museums, Central Park, the Empire State Building, great pizza, and…
This morning, I stood 32 floors above the city and looked towards the Brooklyn Bridge. Above, the moon hung around after daybreak. And at my right, The Empire State Building pointed upwards. Perhaps pointing to the thousands lost when my city changed. I miss my old skyline. I miss the Towers and the pride I felt when I said, "I've been there before." Behind me is the uptown scene. Morning glows in an orange hue against the glassy skyscrapers. Below, I can hear the streets begin to hustle as delivery trucks make their early stops. And slowly, bodies emerge from the subway systems and head to their daily gigs. There's no place like New York City. There's nothing like Central Park or the fountain at Columbus Circle. Lately, my hours have been crazy. The other day I walked to Lexington but passed through some of the theater streets for a touch of inspiration. I may not have much in this crazy corner of mine. But I do have dreams I have some ideas and a pen to write them down I have this city ...and I have you ...
HOMELAND SECURITY FUNDED STUDY LISTS PEOPLE ‘REVERENT OF INDIVIDUAL LIBERTY’ AS ‘EXTREME RIGHT-WING’ TERRORISTS Add me to the list with my other fellow Liberty Lovers please. Interestingly, in an oversight that is not explained, the report barely mentions radical Islam. But there seems to be some data missing when it comes to known Islamic terrorist incidents in New York City and Los Angeles. The study shows no religious terrorism in Manhattan during the 1990s. How about the 1993 World Trade Center bombing? Or the 1994 Brooklyn Bridge Jewish student van shooting by Rashid Baz that killed 16-year-old Ari Halberstam after Baz heard a fiery anti-Jewish sermon at his local mosque? Or the 1997 Empire State Building Observation Deck shooting by Ali Abu Kamal that killed one tourist and injured six others before Kamal took his own life? And then there was the 2002 shooting at the Los Angeles Airport El Al counter by Hesham Mohamed Hadayet that killed two and wounded four others. The FBI and Justice Depar ...

Well, final full day in NYC...we hit Macy's, Empire State Building, met up with our good friend Rachel Smith again, who helped us some more as we went to the World Trade Center Memorial site, and the construction site of the now tallest structure in the U.S., the new World Trade Center...then it was back to Times Square, where we ate at the Planet Hollywood ON IT'S LAST NIGHT IN Times Square FOR ONE YEAR! Caught our bus for our night tour, and then got stuck in a horrendous traffic jam, because apparently, President Obama's motorcade was going through Times Square. New York City may never sleep, but I'm about to give them a lesson!
If you were going to New York City for the first time with your husband and 13 year old daughter and had two days for exploring, what would you do? (We already have plans for two Broadway shows and Empire State Building.) Ellis Island, museums, what? And we'll have our 16 year old with us for only half a day - what should we save for her to do with us? I don't know where to start.
While skirting the edge of New York City along the Hudson River I could see the new Freedom Tower being constructed high abovethe New York City skyline. Still nothing seems to be as majestic as the Empire State Building which was a world wonder and king of skyscrapers for decades before. Wish I was able to get a pic to share, but traffic was intence
While some are in a high rise hotel in New York City viewing the Empire State Building from the 30th floor others of us are viewing a 2year old pulling the tail of a dog and thinking its funny. If not for the 16 hour Amtrack ride I would be there. At least they are flying back on Friday thru O'hare to Cedar Rapids.
20 more days before I will be in New York City celebrating my big 40th birthday! Staying in a hotel right in the heart of Times Square; super excited!!! Will be checking out a Broadway show to getting me some candy at Dillon's Candybar. Ground Zero Memorial, Statue Of Liberty, Harlem (Gotta eat at Ms. Sylvia's restaurant), FAO Swartz (so I can step on the giant piano...hehehe), Shopping on 5th Avenue, Madison Square Garden, Yankee Stadium, Empire State Building and the Museum of Natural History (ok yeah that one is for my lil' guy).

According to the Restaurant Ware Collectors Network website:. Longchamps Restaurants were started in 1919 by Arnold Rothstein and Henry Lustig at 78th and Madison in New York City. The chain grew to several New York establishments and, with the repeal of Prohibition, designers were hired to create a high-class atmosphere in their restaurants. At Longchamps, tipping was strictly forbidden; instead a ten percent surcharge was added to the bill. Salient colors of red and gold were almost trademarks of the interior decoration and noted entertainers performed at their locales. One location was inside the Empire State Building. At one time there were fourteen Longchamps, which had the reputation of being the most expensive yet the most elegant place to dine and perhaps be seen. In Billy Wilder's "The Apartment," when the secretary admits an affair to the betrayed wife, it happens at Longchamps. Lustig, who had allegedly been skimming profits for year and covering this with a hidden set of books, was hit in 1946 ...

Here it is, heart of New York City, Times Square. Named for the good times you have when you're in it. Most people when they come to New York, they go straight to the Empire State Building, that's pretty touristy. I come here. Great places to eat. [points] We have Bubba Gump Shrimp, Red Lobster down there. Ya know. This is, this is the heart of civilization, right here.
