On the eve of the late Adam Yauch's birthday, Beastie Boys fans can celebrate the life and legacy of MCA with a Beastie-centric walking tour of New York City. Happening Saturday (August 4), the tour will visit over a dozen different locations that relate to the Boys and their musical history.

Terrible news from the music world, especially when you are a long-time fan of a group. RIP Adam Yauch (MCA) of the Beastie Boys. The Beastie Boys is personally my favorite "hip-hop/rap" group of all-time. Adam was 47 years old. He had lymph node cancer and hadn't performed with the group since 2009. He wasn't able to be there when the Beastie Boys were inducted to the rock and roll hall of fame last month. All of the members being from the New York City area, the Beastie Boys was formed by Adam. High school friend Mike Diamond ( Mike D) also was in it. They started out as a punk band with an album out in 1979- "Same ole Bull*". When Adam Horowitz (Ad Rock) joined the group they developed into a hip-hop band. After a very successful debut hip-hop album "License to Ill" and 2nd album called "Paul's Botique", they started doing what they had done when it was a punk band- played their own instruments.
