Financial Legerdemain Can't Revive Economy By The New Indian Express 18th February 2014 Finance minister P Chidambaram on Monday presented the interim budget for the fiscal year 2014-15 to cover expenditure until the government’s term ends in May. Except for cutting indirect taxes on cars, capital goods and consumer durables, he didn’t go for any change in direct taxes. Ahead of elections, he also announced a subsidy scheme on education loans taken before March 31, 2009, and acceptance of “one rank, one pay” principle for defence forces. The finance minister’s budget speech sounded like a farewell to the people. Beyond presenting a report card on 10 years of UPA rule, he gave no road map for how the UPA planned to revive the economy if voted to power. If the objective of excise duty cuts on automobiles, capital goods and consumer durables was to boost manufacturing and growth, it was a case of too little, too late. Chidambaram’s claim of having brought down fiscal deficit to 4.6 per cent—wel ...

Dispel darkness to succeed When we observe riots, wars and battles that take place in the name of religion, it makes us ask, "Do we need something called religion at all?" Many raise this question with pain, concern and an element of doubt. All destructive arsenal such as the nuclear bomb, hydrogen bomb and biological warfare are the result of scientific developments, aren’t they? Diseases are many because doctors are plenty. Like the manifestation of truth in the above statements, there is also truth in the practice of religion. Imagine this. There is no light in a house because of which it is completely dark. If one enters the house, he is bound to tumble on various items of furniture. But throwing the furniture out of the house will not be the solution, because the actual cause for the trouble is darkness. It is only when we light the lamp that darkness will disappear along with our problem. Religion was never created to cause riots and confusion. It was created to provide peace. Religion was not mea ...

In the last few years it has become a practice for the players not to reveal the seconds or trainers until the match is completed. Anand broke that news when Ashok Venugopal of the New Indian Express asked both players for team members. New Indian Express is a media partner for this world chess championship. The names revealed by Anand were Krishnan Sasikiran, Sandipan Chanda, Peter Leko (Hungary), and Radoslaw Wojtaszek (Poland).
‘The Sangh training that saved hundreds of lives’: The New Indian Express In an honorable exception, the New Indian Express of Chennai printed on its page 1 on October 28 a few good words about RSS. Read on: “It could have been a stampede if BJP leaders had not adopted a tactical strategy to meet such an emergency. “We immediately came to know about the blasts taking place at regular intervals. We kept announcing that *** had exploded,” said BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi. He added that all speakers, including Narendra Modi, avoided mentioning the blasts as it could have caused a stampede. An expert felt the rally was managed in a difficult situation due to the cadre’s training in the RSS and Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad.” As an instant reaction to the news of blast in the Patna rally, several towns in Tamilnadu witnessed BJP workers hitting the road to protest against violence of the jihadis, following the statement of the State Unit Chief of BJP, Pon Radhakrishnan, that two days p ...

Tamil Nadu refuses water to Bandipur By Yathiraju - MYSORE (Indian Express) 20th February 2013 08:03 AM The inter-state dispute between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu over the sharing of Cauvery water has not spared the fauna of the region. In a major setback to the state, the Tamil Nadu Forest Department has declined to give water from its Moyar river passing through the Mudumalai National Park to quench the thirst of wild animals in Bandipur Tiger Reserve, which is reeling under severe drought. Mudumalai is a continuation of the Bandipur National Park and river Moyar divides the two states. After some wildlife experts objected to supplying water from borewells to the tiger reserve, authorities thought of using the natural flowing water from the river, stream and reservoirs to quench the thirst of animals. Sources in the Forest Department told Express that when the authorities of Bandipur Tiger Reserve approached the Field Director of Mudumalai National Park, around 10 km away from Bandipur, to get fresh wate ...

Our view which we have repeatedly made public is that the question of accession in any disputed territory or state must be decided in accordance with wishes of people and we adhere to this view.” (Telegram 402 Primin-2227 dated 27th October, 1947 to PM of Pakistan repeating telegram addressed to PM of UK). 2. But the question is: has China bitten more than it can chew? Is China playing with fire?"
Will Chennai Express Flare or Fizzle? A heavy duty film, involving some big shot heavyweight names, Chennai Express is loaded with masala, entertainment and oodles of South Indian maneuvers blended into one cool story, from the romantic angle. While audiences are already going oo-la-la about the film’s first looks and the lungi adorned SRK-Deepika combo, the question that arises is will Chennai Express live upto its expectations? The first time coalition of Rohit Shetty and Shah Rukh Khan also marks SRK’s first liaison with the Ronnie Screwwala headed UTV banner. While Rohit and his lucky mascot Ajay Devgn have gone on records to score super-hits one after the other, all eyes are set upon this excitingly new and refreshing director-actor pair to deliver huge at the Box Office. The Bengali Language Movement, also known as the Language Movement was a political movement in former East Bengal (today Bangladesh) advocating the recognition of the Bengali language as an official language of the then-Dominion of Pakistan in order to allow its use in government affairs, the continuation of its use as a medium of education, its use in media, currency and stamps, and to maintain its writing in the Bengali script. When the Dominion of Pakistan was formed by the partition of India in 1947, it was composed of various ethnic and linguistic groups, with the geographically non-contiguous East Bengal province (that was renamed in 1956 as East Pakistan) having a mainly Bengali population. In 1948, the Government of the Dominion of Pakistan ordained Urdu as the sole national language, sparking extensive protests among the Bengali-speaking majority of East Bengal. Facing rising sectarian tensions and mass discontent with the new law, the government outlawed public meetings and rallies. The students ...

India: Domestic grape market becoming more attractive A cold spell has delayed the start of the Indian grapes by around 15 days, but according to Nina Patil from Fresh Express the upcoming season looks promising, "harvesting has started slowly but steadily, quality is good with a brix of 17-20 and volumes should be comparable to last year." Fresh Express export to The Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland and Russia. Nina explains that normally only around 10% would go to the domestic market, "but now with the domestic market maturing and offering good prices, there is a shift by most growers to prefer the domestic market." 30% of Fresh Express' produce now supplies the domestic market. According to Nina the recent rise in shipping costs have made them look for new ports with less transit days and so new destinations also they are using lesser known but nevertheless reliable shipping lines which are offering competitive prices. Steer clear of populism to revive economy - The New Indian Express via budget 2013
Aimed at India, Narendra Modi budget woos youth, women, farmers: The Rs 1,14,450-crore Gujarat budget for 2013-14 proposed by Finance Minister Nitin Patel in the Assembly on Wednesday, the first of Chief Minister Narendra Modi's newly-elected government, sought to tell the Gujarat growth story vis-a-vis India's and achieve the five-year dream in the first year itself. As Modi said in a release, "The new budget would build new confidence among people and showcase state's potentialities before the world." Focussed on youth and farmers, it announced new missions and schemes, referring to India as one of "the youngest nations". The budget announced skill development corporations and foreign language courses to be taken up by the education department. A press statement by Modi said, "Even as the Central government earmarks just 35 per cent of the Union Budget for development work, Gujarat spends 65 per cent of its budget on development work." He added, "Although the state government was elected for a five-year ...
New Holland plans cotton picker ‘designed for India’ After sugarcane harvesters, New Holland Fiat is planning to launch mechanical cotton pickers in India, hoping to cash in on rising costs and scarcity of farm labour in the countryside. “We are field-testing a prototype specially designed for the Indian market. It should be ready for introduction in 2-3 years’ time,” said Gerald E. Salzman, Senior Director at Case IH, part of the $ 19.4-billion, Illinois-headquartered CNH Global that also owns New Holland. The proposed cotton picker is “completely different” from the Case IH Module Express machines currently being sold in the US, Australia and Brazil, Salzman told Business Line. While these are self-propelled with the capacity to harvest the seed-cotton (kapas) from six plant rows at a time and simultaneously compact them as ‘modules’ for delivery to ginners, the picker developed for India is tractor-propelled and tailored specifically for the much smaller farms here. The Modi and secular media tussle is a fight between Bharat supported by the common man and India supported by the Nehruvian Network! I had too busy a schedule and was not planning to watch television when the Gujarat election results were supposed to be declared. But my colleagues insisted that I must watch at least some news channel, even if just for entertainment! So I sat in front of the TV; and while surfing channels, I saw a lot of important journalists and analysts on Times Now and decided to stay there for a while. Honestly, I could not but help a Bangla expletive escape my mouth when I heard what some experts were saying. One was saying that Narendra Modi and his electoral victory was against the Constitution of India. Another was saying how the Gujarat verdict goes against the spirit of India and how the Idea of India is in danger. I always thought free and fair elections were a celebration of the Constitution, democracy and the Idea of India. So what was all this nonsense talk all about? The mo ...

An extraordinarily gifted child, who became an accomplished painter and musician, she had many inner experiences from early childhood on. In her twenties she studied occultism in Algeria with Max Theon and his English wife Alma, who was a highly developed medium. After her return to Paris, the Mother worked with several different groups of spiritual seekers. Meeting Sri Prem AurobindoShe first heard of Sri Aurobindo from her friend Alexandra David-Neel, who had visited him in Pondicherry in 1912; and in 1914, along with her second husband Paul Richard, she was able to travel to Pondicherry and meet him in person. Putting peace on fire Thursday, February 21, 2013 - The recent deadly flare-up over the military Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir has not only pushed back thepeace process between Pakistan and India but has also deeply affected the Indian image. India though dramatically crafted story to blame Pakistan for the whole episode of LoC infringement but it was astonishing when no country seemed interested in Indian story of ‘Pakistani soldiers beheading Indian soldiers’ at the UN Security Council session presided by Pakistan. For assertion that Pakistani troops killed two Indian soldiers, Pakistan had complained to the UN observer force that Indian troops allegedly crossed the LoC and raided a border post. United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) said it would conduct an investigation in accordance with its mandate however India rejected Pakistan’s proposal for a UN investigation into the LoC confrontation. This Indian approach has also been criticized by Indians themselves. ...

The Gili Islands (Indonesian: Tiga Gili [Three Gilis], Kepulauan Gili [Gili Islands]) are an archipelago of three small islands — Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno and Gili Air — just off the northwest coast of Lombok, Indonesia. The islands are a popular destination for Western tourists looking for a remote island experience. Each island has several small resorts, usually consisting of a collection of huts for tourists, a small pool and restaurant. Most local inhabitants live on Trawangan in a township stretching along its east side just inland (which is also where most recent development is taking place). Automobiles and motorized traffic are prohibited on the islands by local ordinance, so the preferred method of transportation is by foot and bicycle or the horse-drawn carriage called a cidomo. Diving in and around the Gilis is also popular due to the abundance of marine life and attractive coral formations.[1] Etymology The name "Gili Islands" is a misnomer, because Gili simply means "small island" in Sas ...
Operation Functioning of the rack and pinion. Rack seen between the two tracks The NMR track is 1,000 mm (3 ft 3 3⁄8 in) gauge and the railway is isolated from other metre gauge lines. Between Mettupalayam and Coonoor, the line uses the Abt rack and pinion system to climb the steep gradient. On this rack section trains are operated by 'X' Class steam rack locomotives manufactured by the Swiss Locomotive and Machine Works of Winterthur in Switzerland. These steam locomotives can be used on any part of the line (either with or without the rack section),but the newer diesel locomotives can operate on the entire section, between Mettupalayam and Udagamandalam. This signals the beginning of the process to phase out the coal-fired vintage Swiss engines that took scores of passengers on the rack and pinion track to Coonoor and Udhagamandalam, covering 41.8 km, 108 curves, 16 tunnels and 250 bridges Hence, the Southern Railway decided to replace the coal-fired locomotives. The work was entrusted to Golden Rock W ...

When The Times of India asked about the film fetching a whopping Rs 1.05 billion, co-producer of the film Siddharth Roy Kapur refused to comment. He comes from a remote village in Kupwara district of strife-torn Kashmir and studied in a village school. Eight years ago, his father was gunned down by militants. But Dr Shah Faisal, a 26-year-old MBBS, has fought the odds and won. On Thursday, Faisal became the first Kashmiri ever to top the civil services exam. "I don't have words to express how I feel, I am not able to speak. I just wish I was with my family. I am just waiting to hug my mother," Faisal, who came to the capital before the results to "get away from the stress of waiting", told TOI. Even through the elation, Faisal gets emotional at the mention of Kashmir. Describing himself as a victim of conflict, he says, "I have watched the bloodshed in Kashmir very closely. I was devastated when my father Ghulam Rasool Shah was gunned down. It is him that I miss the most today. He used to dote on me and taught me English and maths when I studied in school," he says. In Srinagar, his mother Mubeena Begum, thrilled beyond words, says, "Faisal has mad ...

IAF wants 50 swift & sure Sudarshan LGBs from ADE | Scientists at it to get CEP within 3-5 meters Bangalore: After series of flight trials, the Indian Air Force (IAF) has asked the Aeronautical Development Establishment (ADE), to make 50 laser-guided bombs (LGBs) -- Sudarshan. These dump bombs (Mark 11 N bombs), hitherto part of IAF’s vintage ammunition, is getting a life-extension with ADE’s help, with an improvised range and strike capabilities. The ADE won the project for developing an LGB seven years back and subsequently successfully demonstrated the capabilities to the IAF during differed flight trials in 2010. It was also dropped from a Jaguar as part of the user trial in Pokhran, the same year. “Our mission was to develop an advanced laser guidance kit for 1000 lb class dumb bombs, so as to improve the accuracy. We demonstrated the same and now the IAF has asked us to make 50 Sudarshans,” ADE director P S Krishnan told Express on Tuesday. Krishnan says the laser-guidance seeker, fitted on ...
Just had to get this off my chest: The political points being made about what a "true Harlem Shake is" are quite off target. At no point did anyone propose that a mob of crazy people doing random actions are "dancing". Random actions are random actions. that's it. What happened is that a song that was inspired by the original harlem shake dance and is called the "Harlem Shake", has managed to inspire its listeners to express themselves in a unique and creative way. Because the song was called Harlem Shake, the videos in response to the song were also called Harlem Shake as well. Harlem Shake now represents both things: a) the original cultural phenomena (the dance) b) the new cultural phenomena (the song and the videos it inspired). Culture works this way all the time. CASE IN POINT: Roti in india is a type of bread. Roti in Trinidad is Dhalpori, channa, chicken, pumpkin etc (a full meal). Should Indians now "get on baddd" because their original food was reinterpreted? your call.

“I have firmly resolved within me to dedicate myself forever to His service. May the dear Lord give me strength and power to carry out my intention and protect me on life's way. Like a child I trust in His grace: He will preserve us all, that no misfortune may befall us. But His holy will be done! All He gives I will joyfully accept.”   This was Nietzsche’s prayer when he was 17 year old. The man who is touted as the loudest voice against the ethos of Christianity in modern western philosophy was born to a devout pastor and was raised in an acutely theosophical Christian family.   Before I begin describing my understanding of Nietzsche, take a few moments and try to figure out what must had went wrong to that young boy of 17 that his faith would take a turn of hundred and eighty degrees. How much had he must suffered to go from submitting to the Lord to claiming that He is dead. After you have given it a thought, read on.   Firstly I shall start with why Nietzsche? Well, to be honest, his dark de ...
TOM FLANAGAN COMING TO UNIVERSITY OF LETHBRIDGE, 27 Feb. The speaker, Tom Flanagan, was Stephen Harper's mentor and co-author when the current PM was a graduate student at the University of Calgary. Flanagan has made a specialty of promoting US-style termination policies directed as First Nations. In his book, First Nations? Second Thoughts, Flanagan refers to First Nations as immigrants from Siberia. He wants the munipalization and privatization of reserves, in other words the end of reserves as part of the the collective heritage of First Nations groups. In other words, Prof. Flanagan promotes various forms of cultural and institutional assimilation of First Nations. Ultimately he is an advocate of the extinguishment of Aboriginal distinctiveness. Prof. Flanagan is definitely one of the key strategists behind Omnibus Bills C-38 and C-45. I believe he is one of the key advisers on Harper's illegal changing of Canada's constitution through legislative initiatives. Harper tried to move Alberta politics far ...

ndia: Wahhabi preachers converting cultural Muslims to "purer form of Islam" As I have noted many times, jihadists and Islamic supremacists present their understanding of Islam as the pure and true version, the genuine article, pointing to the many violent passages in the Qur'an and Hadith to make their case -- and they gain recruits among peaceful Muslims by doing so. While Islamic supremacist groups and spokesmen in the U.S. claim that the "Islamophobes" agree with and validate the "extremist" Muslims, while ignoring and downplaying the vast moderate mainstream, it is they who actually ignore and downplay the fact that those whom they term "extremists" make headway among cultural Muslims by presenting themselves as the exponents of "pure Islam," and those who claim to reject this form of Islam have never mounted an effective comeback to this. Why they would do this is, I believe, obvious. "‘Wahabi’ Islam gaining ground in the country," by Neeraj Mishra for the New Indian Express, January 14 (thanks ...

The year 2012 spawned some unorthodox surprises at the box office. This year, 2013, promises more of the same with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and Prakash Jha returning to the marquee. Here's looking at the movies that might be worth their wait in gold. Krrish 3: Ideally, sequels, and sequels to sequels are a complete put-off, what with them relying more on nostalgia than intrinsic merit. Yet, Rakesh Roshan's next installment of the Krrish saga, scheduled for a Diwali release, promises to get bigger, brighter, and bouncier. While Hrithik Roshan has the super-hero role, Vivek Oberoi plays the super-villain. Ram Leela: Two years after the under-valued Guzaarish, master-creator Sanjay Leela Bhansali returns to his Gujarati roots for a Gujju rendering of Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet with oodles of colour, vivacity and flamboyance. Ram Leela is a feisty take on a love tale that refuses to get wrinkled. Deepika Padukone is 'Leela' Juliet and Ranveer Singh is 'Ram' Romeo. The film also stars s ...

Right to Education is the primary right of every citizen of India, whether a child resides in a high profile society or in a far away not so developed secluded village. Schools in rural areas are promoted to raise the level of education and literacy in rural India. The main aim of running these types of schools in India is to increase the rates of literacy in rural areas. More than 40 percent of India’s population is illiterate and cannot read or write. And schools in rural areas are inadequate and often equivalent to being non-existent. Thus, government’s initiative to set up schools in rural areas came into picture. According to Just Indian Schools the conditions of rural education in India, is improving steadily and the government is also providing full support and providing with many initiatives. The fee structure in these schools is also very low so that every child can study and afford it. Kuchipudi History Follows... - It is interesting that in Kuchipudi which is an exclusively male dancing tradition, such female parts as Satyabhama, Rukmini, Usha, Mohini etc. were the most outstanding. Strivesham with its transformation into a person of opposite sex is highly influential, and men dressed as women is the first and the most common association that comes to mind at the mention of Kuchipudi. Such great dancer as Vedantam Satyanarayana Sharma famous for his Satyabhama role in drama Bhama Kalapam did not allow his " female identification" be asleep even being engaged in such a trivial activity as regulating a microphone position before a comment to a famous scene (lekha) from Bhama Kalapam. Satyabhama’s stage portrait when she writes a love letter to her spouse Krishna is the most poetical moment of the opera. Bollywood Friday wars to take on new dimension in 2013 - There are only 52 Fridays in a calendar year and of course, the Big Daddies of Bollywood have been staking their claim to the most favourable ones — for example, Eid, Diwali, Christmas, pre-Indian Premier League (IPL), post-IPL, etc — well in advance, marking their territories, so to say. So, what happened this past Diwali — when Ajay Devgn clashed with Shah Rukh Khan — is likely to happen throughout 2013 as well. The year has barely begun and the trade is already sitting back to watch the inevitable clashes that will occur on 'chosen' Fridays. MUST READ.. Indian Inventions..! 1. Always order soup 1 by 2 (invented in India). That way you get more if you had ordered 1 soup with an extra bowl. 2. When ordering sugar cane juice, first insist on no ice cubes . However after the first few sips, ask for the ice cubes with a straight face. 3. Ask for extra puri when you are just finishing your bhel or sev-puri. It is absolutely ok ! 4. Ask for pani after finishing Gol-gappa. It is good for health. 5. Sample all the ice cream flavours free at Natural Ice Cream and then order Sitaphal. 6. When buying peanuts or groundnuts or Chana-Chor-Garam it is ok to keep on munching freebies from the display area till the time your order is getting packed. It is your birthright ! 7. At most Mughlai restaurants you can make a small meal with the free Papad, peanuts, onions, pickles and chutney so you can skip the starters. 8. It is absolutely ok to pocket the free toothpicks, mint packets and fennel seeds served at restaurants - to be used later while walking down t ...

India police to charge 5 with murder in brutal gang-rape, test 6th suspect to confirm age DELHI Indian police said Tuesday that they expect to formally charge five of six suspects with murder in the death of 23-year-old woman who was raped on a moving bus in New Delhi. The sixth suspect in the case that has outraged the country is under 18 and a juvenile. Police ordered a bone test for the sixth accused to confirm his age, according to a police officer who spoke on condition of anonymity as he was not authorized to talk to reporters. Under Indian law, a juvenile cannot be prosecuted for murder. New Delhi police spokesman Rajan Bhagat said Tuesday that a charge-sheet in the case will be filed in court on Thursday. The suspects face the death penalty if convicted. CBS News' Sanjay Jha says the charges will fill an estimated 1,000 pages, and name about 30 witnesses to the attack. The physiotherapy student died last week in a Singapore hospital where she had been sent for emergency treatment after the crime i ...

*A MUST READ* A little boy asked his mother, "Whyare you crying?" "Because I am a woman," she toldhim. "I don't understand," he said. His Mom just hugged him and said, "And you never will." Later the little boy asked his father, "Why does mother seem to cry forno reason?" "All women cry for no reason," was all his dad could say. The little boy grew up and became a man, still wondering why women cry. Finally he put in a call to God. When God got on the phone, he asked, "God, why do women cry so easily?" God said, "When I made the woman she had to be special. I made her shoulders strong enough to carry the weight of the world, yet gentle enough to give comfort. I gave her an inner strength to endure child birth and the rejection that many times comes from her children. I gave her a hardness that allows her to keep going when everyone else gives up, and take care of her family through sickness and fatigue without complaining. I gave her the sensitivity to love her children under any and all circumstances, ev ...

Real man do not rape? A massive protest was witnessed in New Delhi and in other parts of India against the recent gang-rape episode that resulted in death of a Delhi girl after battling for her life. People in a huge number poured out on to the streets to express their anguish against the culprits, and even against the authorities, which they feel are responsible for such an untoward incident. Now when, the girl gang-raped and severely beaten on a bus in New Delhi, has died in a hospital in Singapore, and the whole of India seems to be in a complete shock. However, while the courageous girl was fighting a battle between life and death in the hospital, and the entire Indian nation was trying to sympathize and console the victim, few more rape cases were reported in different parts of the India. Notwithstanding the positive response of people, nothing seems to be changing. People are on the roads, but they hardly knew the right path to nip the evil in the bud. Protesting and damaging public property is not ...
Remembering "Nirbhaya" By: Myron UJ. Pereira SJ I want to reflect briefly on this event which has shaken us all, and convulsed the whole country with anger and grief -- the rape, torture and the death of that young medical student from Delhi. “Braveheart” some have called her, or “Damini”. “Nirbhaya” (fearless) is the name I will use. There are many lessons from this event, but I will dwell on just four. The first lesson: Nothing changes in society without a change of mindset, a change of attitude. In spite of all our trappings of modernity, we still remain a largely feudal society, a society where the demands of patriarchy, caste and kinship take precedence over respect and merit. So my first question is addressed to both men and women, because even women can hate and vilify other women. Kabhi saas bhi bahu thi. As the records of dowry-deaths, female malnutrition and infanticide, and amniocentesis show, it is women in the family who feed and pamper the boy child, and starve and maltreat ...

The Babri morass: How did it all transpire (20 years after Babri demolition) By IANS, Dec 6 (Friday) will mark 20 years since the day a mob of Hindu 'karsevaks' (religious volunteers) brought down the centuries-old Babri Masjid in Ayodhya, triggering riots in the country as well as in neighbouring Pakistan and Bangladesh. A timeline of the dispute: April 21, 1526: Mughal leader Zahiruddin Muhammad Babar, a descendant of Genghis Khan and Tamerlane, defeats Ibrahim Lodhi, the last sultan of the Lodhi dynasty at the First Battle of Panipat. March 17, 1527: Babar defeats Rana Sangram Singh (Rana Sanga), the Rajput king of Chittorgarh at the Battle of Khanwa near Agra and solidifies his control over most of northern India. 1528: Mir Baqi Khan, a general of Babar builds a mosque in Ayodhya. Khan allegedly builds the mosque after demolishing a Hindu temple at the spot. The mosque becomes known as tMasjid Mir Baqi or the Babri Masjid. 1853: The first recorded communal clashes between Hindus and Muslims over the s ...
Dr. Fakir Naik: He supports Al Qaeda on his television channel: He says, “If he Osama Bin Laden is fighting the enemies of Islam, I am for him. If he is terrorizing the terrorists, if he is terrorizing America the terrorist, the biggest terrorist, I am with him. Every Muslim should be a terrorist.” He is a Muslim clergyman, Dr. Zakir Naik, who runs a huge organization, named Islamic Research Foundation. With the slogan,´’Solution for Humanity,´’ Dr. Zakir not only tries to project Bible, Torah and other Holy Scriptures as fake or changed; he also promotes the idea of jihad and Islamist aggressions. He recommends the death penalty for homosexuals and for apostasy from the faith, which he likens to wartime treason. He calls for India to be ruled by the medieval tenets of Shariah law. He supports a ban on the construction of non-Muslim places of worship in Muslim lands and the Taliban’s bombing of the Bamiyan Buddhas. He says revealing clothes make Western women “more susceptible to rape.” No ...

Bittersweet. The GREAT news is that thanks to 2 very generous ppl who topped us off, we have enough money for Sheilla's rent! The bad news is that Sheilla's human services case worker had her hospitalized this morning. The weight and grief of her situation has been bearing down on her like a freight train this week and I think she finally just broke. I think she feels like the loss of the yard sales took away the last of her independence and facing having to move out means if Lucy and Reese come home she won't be there, and it all really started to break her spirit. Combine that with how fragile her physical health is anyway and it's really surprising it hasn't happened sooner. She doesn't have any health insurance but our hope is that the dr's will overlook that and treat her anyway. I really feel like she needs access to medical care to get better so maybe this will provide that opportunity and she will get the medications and treatment she needs. She's supposed to call me later and I'll keep everyone po ...

WE AS LO HEADS ARE QUICK TO SAY AND POINT OUT WHEN OTHER FASHION BRANDS BITE OFF POLO BY RALPH LAUREN.YOU KNOW HOW YOU DO.LOL NOW IF I SAID TO YOU: A bit of knowledge most dont know, Ralph pretty much bit the whole sportsman line from what abercrombie was in the 60's. Check the old catalog covers, the frontpage knits literally are the covers but "abercrombie and fitch" is changed to polo sportsman. All the plaid, safari coats, wool hunting gear, fisherman style vests, all tooken from A&f, Orvis, L.L. Bean. That's where Ralph shopped and they stopped making it so he put it out himself. He bit the equestrian stuff from Hermes and made it more accessible. His womenswear was inspired by Yves Saint Laurent so much one year he got sued for it!
