What would have happened if Ninoy did not expose Operation Merdeka? Is it still heroism to sacrifice National Interest over selfish political ambitions to become President? While China is firm on its resolve to claim Scarborough Shoal by virtue of historical title even if it is a hundred legions far from its shore, the Philippine Government is lame on pressing its claim on Sabah which by the way has a very strong legal basis. What will this situation make of us? What message will this convey to the world?
The U.S. and its allies won't always have a monopoly on drone use, writes Paul sanders in the National Interest. And "the administration's dramatic expansion in drone strikes – and their apparent effectiveness – will only further shorten Washington's reign as the drone capital of the world by increasing the incentives to others eager to develop, refine or buy the technology." "Have Obama administration officials given any thought to what the world might look like when armed drones are more widespread and when Americans or U.S. allies and partners could become targets? To an outsider, there is little evidence of this kind of thinking in the administration's use of drones."

Administration Official Provides Insights on U.S. Congo Policy Last week (Monday, February 11, 2013) at the Brookings Institution, outgoing Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, Johnnie Carson, presented an outline of the Obama Administration's policy position on the situation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). The purpose of Ambassador Carson's presentation- titled "Finding a Lasting Solution to Instability in the Democratic Republic of the Congo-" was twofold: discussing why efforts should be redoubled to bring stability to the Congo and laying out a framework for "moving forward." He outlined four main reasons for action: 1. The moral imperative to respond; 2. The consequences of Congolese instability for U.S. National Interest; 3. The fiscal and financial imperatives calling for attention to the situation; 4. The contention that failure in bringing stability to DRC is not an option for the world. Ambassador Carson asserted in clear terms "that the international community has .. ...

BIAFRA: The Untold Story print Published on February 19, 2013 by pmnews Secret American diplomatic dispatches, spread over 21,000 pages, provide previously unknown information about the Nigerian Civil War Early in the morning of 1 July 1967, Nigeria’s young head of state, Colonel Yakubu Gowon, was feeling uneasy in his office at the Supreme Headquarters, Dodan Barracks in Lagos. The unease was a result of his being ceaselessly pressured to authorize a military invasion of the breakaway Republic of Biafra. Thirty officers had been recalled from courses abroad. Trains and truck convoys, bearing fuel, supplies and men, were still leaving Kano and Kaduna for the south of River Benue. Colonel Mohammed Shuwa of the First Area Command had moved his command headquarters southwards and set it up in Makurdi. The 2nd Battalion was already headquartered in Adikpo. Schools and private homes had been commandeered for the use of Major Sule Apollo and his 4th Battalion in Oturkpo. They were itching for action. The sam ...
OneBro Pgbi GREETINGS TO ALL BROTHER GUARDIANS.   The Christmas Season is upon us, it reminds us of the events on how our Saviour came to earth. After knocking on several doors and being rejected, the Holy Family ended up in a lowly manger where our Lord Jesus Christ was born. The greatness of things to come can indeed start from hardships and simple beginnings.  As we celebrate the feast of the Epiphany our 1BRO-PGBI faces the year to come with a new hope, and with that a new challenge. We have not come this far without a struggle, and our struggle goes on for what we believe is right, for what we believe is our calling, for what we believe is our responsibility for our brotherhood, for our Nation for our society. We need to be active participants in shaping the future of our County. We can no longer be passive observers while powerful politicians continue to expand their dominion and turfs and transform themselves as monarchs who can simply pass on their leadership to family members and cronies. Please read and share. This is so well spoken. I am not one who seeks or intentionally brings attention to myself. I am one who participates, but does so from the rear of the crowd. I call Tom Lorey a friend. I understand and agree with his philosophy and I’m motivated by his passion. NYTimes: Equal Opportunity Our National Myth "an economic, and not only moral, interest in saving the American dream"
Our government have spent billions of naira over time to promote a positive image for Nigerians everywhere. Regrettably, the popular perception of the Nigerian character remains that of greed, self-interest and other such ingenious criminal escapades. The promoted brand of 'Good people, Great nation' never really took off, it has become clear that neither catchy slogans nor sexy packaging can change public perception of what is intrinsically a bad product.

India's shame Mohammad Afzal is due to hang for his part in the 2001 attack on India's parliament building. But was he only a bit player? And is the country trying to bury embarrassing questions about its war on terror? By Arundhati Roy . Five years ago this week, on December 13 2001, the Indian parliament was in its winter session. The government was under attack for yet another corruption scandal. At 11.30 in the morning, five armed men in a white Ambassador car fitted out with an improvised explosive device drove through the gates of Parliament House. When they were challenged, they jumped out of the car and opened fire. In the gun battle that followed, all the attackers were killed. Eight security personnel and a gardener were killed too. The dead terrorists, the police said, had enough explosives to blow up the parliament building, and enough ammunition to take on a whole battalion of soldiers. Unlike most terrorists, these five left behind a thick trail of evidence - weapons, mobile phones, phone nu ...

"The United States is freer than most nations. With the exception of Switzerland, which has no interest in letting Americans move there permanently, the United States is freer than any large nation in Europe. The Isle of Man is a very free society and a separate nation. But most Americans are not going to move to an island in between Ireland and Great Britain. So, the alternatives are minimal as far as moving east is concerned. I see no particular advantage of Australia over the United States, especially in the area of gun ownership. This is also true of New Zealand." - Gary North, "Is There a Case For Leaving the U.S.?"
The situation the US now finds itself in - is one of economic collapse - total economic destruction. I believe that it was always the plan to destroy America economically. This shadowy group who control money and the nations of the world have a history of invading a hoist nation and like a parasitic infestation, they suck the wealth out of a country/nation and then when the nation is no longer of financial use, they move onto their next victim - The real International travellers. [My euphemism]. Look at history and you will be able to trace this group being expelled from nation to nation around the world; causing untold misery through usury and control of the monetary system of a country and bankrupting a country by their demands - for example, fighting wars on their behalf. This time however, they have managed to drag the rest of the world into their game of destruction by duping nations to utilise their worthless currency as the basis of international trade; effectively spreading their debt around the . ...
Two days after the surrender of Confederate General Robert E. Lee's army, a jubilant crowd gathered outside the White House, calling for President Lincoln. Reporter Noah Brooks wrote, "Outside was a vast sea of faces, illuminated by the lights that burned in the festal array of the White House, and stretching far out into the misty darkness. It was a silent, intent, and perhaps surprised, multitude." "Within stood the tall, gaunt figure of the President, deeply thoughtful, intent upon the elucidation of the generous policy which should be pursued toward the South. That this was not the sort of speech which the multitude had expected is tolerably certain." Lincoln stood at the window over the building's main door, a place where presidents customarily gave speeches. Brooks held a light so Lincoln could read his speech, while young Tad Lincoln grasped the pages as they fluttered to his feet. The speech introduced the complex topic of reconstruction, especially as it related to the state of Louisiana. For the ...
I NEED A NEW TOUCH “O LORD” Am always joking with my friend in Lusaka that our colleagues from Copperbelt have rebranded themselves from being called ‘jerabos’ to ‘ kopala squad’ while us from Lusaka remain kabovas running around in nice ties and jacket on the streets of Lusaka looking for something to eat. I have always liked Copperbelt even if I did not grow up from Copperbelt. I like Copperbelt because it is a place where a lot of innovations are found. Copperbelt although, has not been declared officially as a reservoir for innovation it has tried to bring a lot of innovation in the nation. It is always a source of inspiration to many Zambians. In politics, a politician who has a strong base in Copperbelt wins the presidential election. For instance, all the republican presidents ensured that they dominated Copperbelt by winning hearts of everyone from Copperbelt. The innovations from Copperbelt have propelled Zambia to greater heights. Our colleagues from Copperbelt have never been ...
LP, not merger, can check PDP —Activist FEBRUARY 19, 2013 BY SUNDAY ABORISADE 7 COMMENTS Labour Party National Chairman, Chief Dan Nwanyanwu | credits: The Executive Director, Egalitarian Mission Africa, Mr. Kayode Ajulo, has said the current merger of political parties aimed at challenging the powers of the Peoples Democratic Party will not achieve the desired result. Rather, he said the coming together of progressives under a single umbrella of an ideological political party, which will have as its core objective the welfare of the people, remained the best strategy to tame the PDP. Ajulo stated this in Akure on Monday in an interview with journalists after he received an award from an amalgam of Ondo State youth associations. He said the merger would not work because the dramatis personae shared different ideologies. According to him, the alternative to PDP at the moment is the Labour Party, which is currently in power in Ondo State, because the party has an ideology. He said, “When you look at its ...

Regarding the so-called-militant (whoever they are) in LD, i would like to share this quote from a very respectable person. "When we do good things, they never applaud us and the police have never worked on the criticism or the applause from the opposition from before, whether it is Bersih, whether it is terrorist, whether it is street crimes, I have never seen the opposition say good things about what we have done but criticise us" Let them do their job. They're in a position to do so. They know exactly what they're doing. The less we could do is stop talking as if we have talked to the perpetreator.

1 OF 2 WHO REALLY OWNS YOU? IT IS TIME FOR YOU TO THINK, REALLY By Lyndon H. LaRouche, Jr. February 10, 2013 It appears currently, that in Washington, D.C., as also in the British world empire, for example, the expected practice among some high-ranking interests today, is, to bury any unwanted truth under a virtual manure-pile filled with a combination of “talking points” mixed with that pile of monetarist fraud called “quantitative easing.” After which, truth can be more readily, first muffled, and then buried: all done with the presumed assurance that no intelligent historians would be so rude as to bring the evaded subject of truth up again. What follows from that, is the following: The clearly evident intention behind that currently rampant, monetarist fraud, is, first to flood the world with an implicitly worthless avalanche of an intrinsically worthless mass of “quantitative easing,” as is being done now; and, then, very soon, to turn about and repudiate all of that infinite debt of Be . ...
Can We Abolish the People? Tuesday, 19 February 2013 / Engagements By Chidi Amuta, Thisday In the relationship between government and people in Nigeria’s curious democracy, there is an assurance of reciprocal bad blood. The broad masses of Nigerians hold the government and those who drive it in irredeemable disdain. Government in our midst is like the village witch. The easiest way to hang a witch is to accuse him of responsibility for multiple calamities. So, in our polity, government is responsible for every negativity ranging from flood disasters to harmattan haze and rising instances of testicular cancer in middle-aged men. Or miscarriages among destitute women! The other side is no better. Our governments, at nearly all levels, are at best embarrassingly indifferent and condescending to the people. In the parlance recently made popular by President Goodluck Jonathan himself, government people ‘don’t give a *** about the people. In their view, the people complain too much. You cannot satisfy ...

GDP to take Rs 15,000-20,000 crore hit from strike: ASSOCHAM New Delhi, While sharing some of their concerns like rising prices, ASSOCHAM today appealed to the central trade unions to call off their two-day strike as the country’s economy will take a hit of big hit of Rs 15,000-20,000 crore from the nation-wide disruption in economic activity. “The national economy, battling slowdown can ill-afford this situation. In fact, the strike would aggravate the price situation because of disruption in the supply line of essential commodities”, said Mr. Rajkumar Dhoot President ASSOCHAM. Mr. Dhoot further said the strike would cripple mostly the services sector like banking, insurance and transport, besides the industrial production. Even the agriculture would be affected as the movement of vegetables, highly perishable items, would be disrupted. The ASSOCHAM has estimated the national loss figures based on the daily erosion of about 30-40 per cent to the country’s Gross Domestic Production (GDP) for two . ...

This was the position of the Federal Government as articulated Monday by the National Coordinator of Counter Terrorism and Insurgency in the office of the National Security Adviser (NSA), Maj.-Gen. sunil kumar You have recently sent a defamation notice to a number of TV channels. Their “crime” is that they aired the press conference held on the 31st October 2012 and 9th November 2012, by Prashant Bhushan and me, live. In our press conference, we presented before the country how you had illegally pressurized the government into increasing gas prices. We also told the country that your associates and your companies have accounts in Swiss banks where black money had been stashed away. Many TV channels aired our expose live. All these TV channels have now received defamation notices from you. I find it quite perplexing. If you felt that you have been defamed by what Prashant Bhushan and I said, then we are the real culprits and, if you had to send a defamation notice, it should have been to us. The TV channels merely broadcast what we said. Despite this, instead of sending us the defamation notice, you have sent it to the TV channels. It is evident that your sole purpose of sending this notice was t ...

How ‘wanjiku’ finances Uhuru’s campaigns ( From LEMO NEWS AGENCY) I have no intention of reviewing how the Kenyatta’s acquired their enormous wealth, especially the hundreds of thousands of acres that they ‘own’. That is common knowledge. I also do not want to talk about how Chinese billions funding Jubilee campaigns or even how much Ruto managed to ‘hustle’ from Mama Ngina in order to sell Kalenjins to GEMA/TNA I am just surprised that the Kenyatta’s are not content to merely spend their billions. No. They instead, have devised truly ingenious schemes to get the extra buck from long-suffering Wanjiku. I will only explain two such. In the last few weeks, Kenyatta’s brookside dairies have increased the price of milk by more than 20/= per liter… and counting. Brookside deals with millions of litres of milk daily. So do the maths on how much more money 20/= per litre means to the bottom-line. Farmers, many of whom have been tied up in unfair contracts with Brookside (Brookside always re ...
Yesterday, I had an opportunity to speak to students of Kings College, Budo at the their campus. And my message to them was a simple one. They can have the most dedicated teachers, the most supportive parents, the best school in the country but none of it will matter unless they, individually fulfill their responsibilities, they show up in class on time, they pay attention and listen to their teacher, administrators and other adults and put in the hard work it takes to succeed. That's what they need to focus on today; the responsibility they have for their education/future. Where you are right now doesn't have to determine where you'll end up. No one will write your destiny for you, you write your own destiny. You make your own future.

Reality Check for Eritrea A few years ago, according to Wikileaks, a whistleblower, an American Ambassador to Eritrea described the persona of President Isaias Afewerki as having an exaggerated sense of self-importance and fantasies of unlimited success, as well as behaving contemptuously towards others, believing that others were envious of him, and of Eritrea, and that both he and Eritrea were special and that the normal rules do not apply. As this behaviour is not special to him, many in the know about the People's Front for Democracy & Justice's (PFDJ) history attribute the eerie nationalism of the President and colleagues to the secretive and manipulative nature of the Front. Speaking about the secretive nature of the PFDJ, the acclaimed commentator on the Horn, Dan Connell, once likened it to Russian dolls called Matryoska, alluding to the difficulty of pinning down the decision making set up of the organisation. Regimenting the rebels and the populace was achieved through zero tolerance to dissent ...

Gov. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi to power as the Governor of the State. The first stop was the thanksgiving service on 23rd October, where the Governor described the Supreme Court Judgement that brought him to power as an Act of God. EXPLANATION OF VERSE [Quran 39:7] *That is, "Your disbelief cannot cause any decrease or deficiency in His Kingdom. He will be God if you believe in Him, and He will still be God if you deny Him. He is ruling over His Kingdom by His own power; your believing or denying Him does not affect His Sovereignty in any way." According to a Hadith. Allah says: "O My servants, if all of you, the former and the latter, the men and the jinns, become like the heart of a most sinful person among you, it will cause no deficiency whatever in My Kingdom. " (Muslim). *That is, "He does not approve, not for any interest of His own but for the interest and benefit of the servants themselves, that they should disbelieve, for disbelief is harmful for them." Here, one should bear in mind the fact that AIlah's will is one thing and His approval and pleasure another. Nothing in the world can happen against Allah's will, but many things can happen against His approval, and arc happening day and night. For example, the dominance of ...
BACK IN 2003 THIS IS WHAT THE NPPS LORD COMMEY SAID THE NATIONAL organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Lord Commey, has said that in order for the government to bring the economy back on track and also revive the banks that are on the verge of collapsing, the NPP needs to bite the bullet by increasing the fuel prices. He said most banks in the country are collapsing due to C50-C70 billion which is being used to pay off interest on accrued debt at Tema Oil Refinery (TOR). Speaking to the Chronicle in an interview, Mr. Commey condemned the reactions of the main opposition party NDC, saying their criticisms are an " act of gross dishonesty". He noted that the NDC knowing very well and being aware of the circumstances which led to the accumulation of the indebtedness of the TOR to a whopping sum of o4.5trillion failed to give concrete criticisms and alternative measures. He contended that, as a matter of urgency, to have a vibrant development in the country, the NPP needs a pragmatic and the realist ...

OPINION THE FAILURES AND ACHIEVEMENTS OF THE COALITION GOVERNMENT– A STREET ANALYSIS The Monday Afternoon Tea shared by the three former arch-rivals has indeed become the stabilizing point in this tiny but divided Southern African country. It took the efforts of friendly neighbors and in particular President Mbeki to produce magic which gave birth to the coalition government sometime in the heat of September 2008. Without doubt the coalition government brought hope to the multitudes and indeed set the country on a painful but worthwhile trajectory which like any other experience deserve an analysis not only from the hand of the professionalized journalist or from the so called political analysts whom we all know are biased but an analysis from the ordinary person on the street is worth the moments. THE CHALLENGES The political order never gave the tripartite creature of President Robert Mugabe, Prime Minister Tsvangirai and Professor Arthur Mutambara chance to succeed. This mentality paralyzed Governmen ...
This is Murtaza Ali Haider. He was shot dead today morning along with his father, Dr. Ali Haider, in Lahore. Why? Because they were Shia. The genocide isn't restricted to Quetta or Peshawar or Gilgit or Karachi. It has spread to Lahore. Mark our words, if you don't stand up today, you WILL be next!
Sweden, home to Europe’s safest banks, says the key to avoiding the next financial crisis is to ignore calls for harmonized capital rules and apply individual regulatory standards to match national risks.   The Financial Supervisory Authority in Stockholm, which requires Swedish lenders to adopt more rigorous capital rules than those set by the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision, says industry demands to target uniform requirements don’t take into account the lessons of the most recent financial crisis.   “It would be silly, and negative, to have exactly the same rules in all countries,” FSA Director General Martin Andersson said in an interview. “While we should have minimum levels in all countries, different nations should be able to go above those minimum levels -- otherwise we delete the experience we have made in the past few years that we sometimes have to do more to remove imbalances in individual countries.”   Banks in Sweden -- a AAA rated nation struggling to contain reco ...

REBELS NOW LEFT WITHOUT PEOPLE AND ARMY THE ONLY WEAPON THEY HAVE LEFT IS ONLY A BAD MOUTH! Ethiopian Rebels threaten Canadian oil company? THIS IS NOTHING February 18, 2013 (ADDIS ABABA) - An Ethiopian rebel group on Monday issued fresh warnings against a Canadian oil firm, urging the company to refrain from oil exploration activities in the country’s eastern region. In a statement extended to Sudan Tribune, the Ogaden National Liberation Front (ONLF) accused the Canadian-owned Africa Oil Corporation (AOC) of conspiring with the government to exploit the region’s oil resources. ONLF further said the Ogaden region is unsafe due to ongoing fighting and that the AOC must urgently halt its operations until the rebels reach a peace agreement with the central government. “ONLF calls upon African Oil to desist from paying blood money to Ethiopia until a just settlement of the conflict is achieved and the people of Ogaden are in a position to be masters of their wealth and interest,” said the statement. ...

Students does not care much about who knows politics the most in the SRC, they care less about who connect better with who in the SRC, it does not matter to them who is respected and who is not within the SRC. All they want to see is a collective team of their representatives working together to defend their interests as students. It just becomes a cherry on top if those people happened to be their comrades in majority. 2010 we had 100% SASCO in office, those comrades were hard and smart workers, we were proud of them when we see their, we honored them when we meet them in corridors, they were appreciated by all students. Those comrades most of the times they were disagreeing on many issues political and otherwise but they were able to hide their differences for the first semester to masses, students just saw united force of their representatives. Just after their division was exposed to students they were no longer respected, they were no longer honored and appreciated. Hence they were voted out of offic ...

Come along and help if you can.

Characteristics of the Islamic community Each community of communities land properties that characterize all other communities, and the Muslim community properties are rare does not exist in a society other, and we mean society Islamic society in which God wants to be the people, the community, which holds the highest values that were absent in many parts of the earth today and that does not mean the community what it day of deviation from the approach of God, and if you find some good properties in our Islamic society that today, this is little for what should be the community. The constitution of dear Nation Nigeria 1999 as amended granted individual or corporate bodies to register political party provided such party can meet the recquirement stipulated therein in the constitution so therefore new parties re allow to come in but for the sake of a heathy Democratic system, Nigeria need a viable Opposition Party that has vision and interest of the masses at heart to curtail the urgly trend
It is a sad day to be a Nigerian; if it is true that Lagosians' public money worth US$500k was paid to bring an American celebrity to Lagos for a mere two words of expression in a muscial feista. Outside not getting value for their money, it is no wise way to spend public money. I have always said it, I will continue to say it over and over again that governance in Nigeria and Africa by extension is not a reflection of true democratic principles. I will challenge His Excellence, the Governor of Lagos- Fashola to an open public debate to justify his decision for this "elaborate watse" under the disguise of promoting tourism. Let the truth be known, public business in Nigeria is all about "man-know-man" rather than what is perceived in the overall interest of the public. It is the same government that rendered thousands of youths unemployed through the abolishment of the popular okada without a public consultation or provision of alternatives. Nothing surprises me when it comes to the actions of elected off ...

Dual Loyalties? While recent news stories have given some an opportunity to raise the old canard of "dual loyalties", here's a piece I wrote on the subject some time ago. On what day is Australia’s national flower, the Wattle, celebrated? Where is the heart (as opposed to the hide or skeleton) of Phar Lap, the champion racehorse, to be found today? (See answers below) It was the responses to questions such as these that I was desperately trying to learn a few weeks ago as I prepared for the Citizenship Test, to be taken by all prospective Australians. In the end the exam was not too arduous, and I am now on my way to becoming a fully-fledged Aussie. But curiously, the most obvious question was omitted – “which team do you support for the Ashes?” That was fortunate, because I would have had to answer “England”. Despite my affection for my newly embraced home, and my increasing sense of connection to all things Antipodean, I have to confess that during the recent series, it was for Flintoff and ...

NDIC And Depositors Of Failed Banks: Between Facts And Obscurantism (2) Tue, 19/02/2013 - 3:10am | Bashir Hassan Therefore, it amounts to sheer naivety for anyone to accuse the NDIC of being not proactive towards the payment of guaranteed sums to depositors of the failed banks. After all, the NDIC Act requires the Corporation to effect the payment of insured sums to depositors of any failed bank within 90 days of the revocation of the bank’s operating licence by the CBN. It is on record for who cares to monitor that NDIC has been able to keep pace with this provision, in fact sometimes beating the deadline. Delays only arise if the affected banks challenge the CBN in courts over the revocation of their licences. Bulk of depositors who have not claimed their deposits are usually those who have since abandoned their accounts even before the liquidation of the banks, which is a phenomenon called: Dormant Accounts. Should anyone blame the Corporation for the attitude of such depositors who in any case, ofte ...

APC And Matters Arising Tue, 19/02/2013 - 3:11am | S. K. Mazawaje The spontaneous ecstatic reaction of the general public to the recent merger moves of opposition political parties underscores the relevance of opposition in any democracy. Opposition is to democracy, what oxygen is to the human body. Democracy without opposition is at best sham democracy, because such government that is without opposition can easily slide or descend into autocracy, dictatorship or even anarchy. Opposition provides people with alternative options and choices. It helps in providing the necessary checks and balances associated with democratic governance. Opposition is necessary for good governance. The merger of the opposition political parties is coming at a time when people have started asking fundamental questions that impinge on good governance or lack of it, hence the euphoria that greeted the emergence of the proposed consolidated political party the APC. But beyond the euphoria, is it truly Uhuru for our democracy? How ...

A revolution is eminent! I will welcome it cos Politicians keep foolin us!!!
ASO vs ABE In Japan, Aso stated that Tokyo wasn't considering buying foreign bonds or altering the BoJ Act. The former statement, if true, means that an avenue of policy easing to the BoJ and, in turn, possible yen weakness has been eliminated. Also, leaving BoJ law unchanged means that the bank will retain its independence from the government. Both of these statements, however, go against what PM Abe said yesterday. Abe stated that both of those options are still on the table, which led to a bout of yen selling. Today's comments from Aso saw the yen retrace some of these losses, before it started to fall later in the session. The differing comments from Aso and Abe appear to be their way of showing support for their respective candidates for BoJ governor. Abe appears to support Iwata, who is pro foreign bond purchases, and Aso's policy politics fall more in line with Muto, who is opposed to foreign bond purchases and changing BoJ law. USDJPY sunk below 94.00 on the back of the finance minister comments. ...

The Life and Administration of Abraham Lincoln” “THE LIFE AND ADMINISTRATION OF ABRAHAM LINCOLN.” Presenting his Early History, Political Career, Speeches, Messages, Proclamations, Letters, &c. By G. W. BACON. Sampson Low, Son, and Marston; Bacon and Co., 64 Paternoster row. Jul 29th 1865 IT is yet too early to look for a full and satisfactory biography of one who in the pages of American history will occupy a place second only to Washington, both for services rendered to his country and for the integrity and simple-hearted devotion with which he served her. The life before us, as well as the earlier lives that have supplied it with much of its material, are little more than memoirs pour servir to that fuller record of the private and public life of Abraham Lincoln which, on the cooling down of party strife and the clearing away of party prejudices, we shall hope to receive from some competent pen. Mr Bacon puts forward no higher claim for his book than that of being a careful compilation, from genu ...
The Great Banking Deception Have you been cheated? In order for any contract to be valid, there must be 'full disclosure', 'good faith', 'valuable consideration', and 'clean hands'. Here is what the banks advertise: "Come to our bank. We have money to loan you." Is this really what happens? Did you really get a loan when you contracted to borrow money from the bank to pay for your home? Or was it just an exchange (your note for cash), but the bank called it a loan? Or did two loans occur? When you entered into a loan contract with a bank, you signed a note or contract promising to pay the bank back, and you agreed to provide collateral that the bank could seize if you did not repay the loan. This contract supposedly qualified you to receive the bank's money. But did the bank provide 'full disclosure' of all of the terms of this agreement? Read the following and decide for yourself if the bank was acting in 'good faith', that you received 'valuable consideration', and that your 'signature' on that ...

Colorado House passes Anti-Gun Legislation... In the face of tens of thousands of gun owners, sportsmen and shooting enthusiasts, anti-gun zealots leading the rights-infringing charge in Denver passed a package of anti-gun bills in the state House seeking to undermine the Second Amendment in Colorado. House passage of the bills below should be a wake-up call to everyone across this diverse and freedom-loving state. Your rights are under an all-out assault by those who see you and your way of life as a problem that needs to be fixed. House Bill 1224 – Bans magazines with a capacity greater than fifteen rounds. (Passed 34-31) House Bill 1226 – Repeals current law allowing individuals with a concealed carry permit to carry a firearm for self-defense on a college or university campus. (Passed 34-31) House Bill 1228 – Imposes a “gun tax” for a background check when purchasing a firearm. (Passed 33-32) House Bill 1229 – Criminalizes the private transfer of a firearm. (Passed 36-29) The votes taken t ...
What hurts me is the NDC sees no evil and hears none. The NPP sees no good in anything. And the citizenry only take entrenched political stands and play blame and counter blame. None of the smart people i know have made any comments on how to salvage a nation. They either mock ei dey be k3k3 or try to pretend the suffering will soon pass. Nobody has even tried to start a discussion on how to solve the problem. We all pretend the other side is the problem. The earlier we all see ourselves as part of the problem and part of the solution the earlier we get to the spot of reducing our hardship. Posterity will judge us on doing nothing about the problem not on pretending we know who can solve it. For me it all starts here. either u want to join us find answers or u are just a statistic. We wont join the bus of looking for who to blame next. God bless Ghana

STEPHEN GOWANS: Is North Korea’s recent nuclear test, its third, to be welcomed, lamented or condemned? It depends on your perspective. If you believe that a people should be able to organize their affairs free from foreign domination and interference; that the United States and its client government in Seoul have denied Koreans in the south that right and seek to deny Koreans in the north the same right; and that the best chance that Koreans in the north have for preserving their sovereignty is to build nuclear weapons to deter a US military conquest, then the test is to be welcomed. If you’re a liberal, you might believe that the United States should offer the DPRK (the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, North Korea’s official name) security guarantees in return for Pyongyang completely, permanently and verifiably eliminating its nuclear weapons program. If so, your position invites three questions. • Contrary to the febrile rhetoric of high US officials, the United States is not threatene ...

And I will not be surprised that if the long queue of visitors begins to shorten, Oga JM will start a "Thank You Tour" from Axim to Bongo. And by the time he finishes and settles down to work, campaign for 2016 elections will be knocking at his door. Then you and I will get a not too new slogan: "Still Edey Biii k3k3!"

NATURAL RESOURCE CURSE It is universally acknowledged that oil and mineral discovery could lead to significant economic transformation of a country. A point well noting is the fact that the same discovery could lead to poverty, war etc.The latter phenomenon popularly known as NATURAL RESOURCE CURSE is evident in some countries around us.The natural resource curse also known as the paradox of the plenty existed as far back as the period of Adam Smith. It refers to the situation where countries with an abundance of natural resources especially point source non-renewable resource like minerals and fuel, tend to have less economic growth and worse developmental outcomes than countries with fewer natural resources. The most cited examples of countries suffering from this phenomenon is “Nigeria whose incredible oil wealth has failed to generate growth and has actually increased the number of people living on less than $1 a day from 30% before oil was discovered to the current rate of 70%.” (www.pbs.org/newshou ...
Let us just think about this for a moment. If SANCTIONS are imposed on Kenya: 1. You will be unable to withdraw money from ANY ATM countrywide because visa will have shut down. 2. If you work for an NGO there will be no money for you because they will have closed shop. 3. There will be a shortage of cash because the people who print our money are Signatories of the ICC. And even though they stay, our money will have no real value. 4. NO PETROL. Look at the companies that ship in our oil. 5. And finally even though the Chinese are our "FRIENDS" they too need THE USA for their economy. it cannot function without the US DOLLAR.

Got this in the email... What Will ‘Debt Jubilee’ Look Like? Jeff Nielson The economies of the West (with few exceptions) are all hopelessly insolvent. Globally, debt-levels have reached such an extreme, bloated magnitude that outside of the banksters’ derivatives casino this is our new “biggest bubble.” For reasons which will be made clear shortly; many readers are unaware of the severity of this global debt-crisis. Let’s review the facts. Virtually all Western nations are sitting with their highest debt-loads in history, meaning their debt-to-GDP levels are their highest ever – and most are well past the level which constitutes an official “debt crisis.” Worse still, all of these debtors have debts which are increasing at a much, much faster rate than economic growth (and this gap continues to increase). In other words, those nations which are already insolvent have no rational hope of ever becoming solvent again; while those nations which are merely “nearly insolvent” have no rati ...

Did I hear, "Officially we have power or energy crisis? And TOR (Tema Oil refinery) isn't operating since June 2012?" So, is the government aware? And we spend about 8 million dollars on the Black stars? Parliamentarians agitating for increment of salaries etc? What are our priorities as a nation? Do we have 'leadership crisis' too? These are pertinent issues that must be looked at and not the 'unnecessary cheap talk'.
Just heard this on Viasat 1: "If you are a young man looking to make money, there are three ways. Either you become a pastor, form an NGO or go into politics." I wonder whether that is true
Part A (Continued) Frank and Koni were sweethearts. They were all set to get married when Koni got cold feet and backed out. Koni discovered some serious shortcomings in Frank. He relished playing dirty tricks on her. And he would constantly butt in while she was talking. Then he would get up tight and bawl her out. Later he would simmer down, apologize, and promise to shape up. But his tirades wore thin. Worse yet, Frank had sticky fingers. One day, Koni discovered that he had made off with her money. When she confronted him, he shed crocodile tears and promised to go straight. Frank was always trying to make a fast buck, and he had a pipe dream about getting filthy rich. Koni had the gut feeling that Frank was into drugs. She was an early bird who came alive at the crack of dawn. But Frank was dead tired in the morning and sacked in until noon. He would make a date with Koni for lunch and fail to show up. Koni had a feeling he was spaced out. One day, she caught him smoking a joint of marijuana. ...

Stealing of public fund has become the order of the day, as if it was mandated in the constitution. Hence, i dare the national assembly to enact a law that makes one guilty of public fund either in government or private own establishment to face life imprisonment and confiscation of his property. This should be done as soon as possible to save our beloved country on the path of destruction by these evil elements who are killing nigerians daily with poverty. The national assembly must take action if they really love nigerians and they are ready to serve, except they have an intention of being victims in the nearest future of same crime. Otherwise, they should feel the pains like every common nigerian and act quickly to save our beloved nation. God bless nigeria!
The Armed Forces, …: The security issue The Armed Forces, the existence of Nigeria: The security issue THE Constitution of this country has established the prime value of the currency of Nigerian citizenry, and our politics instead of being the cultivation of the appreciation of Nigerian citizenry, has been and continues to be a process of a structured depreciation of the value of citizenry. The dictionary defines citizenry as citizens collectively. Citizenry is not an aggregation, it is the collective expression of that which is intrinsic in citizenship, an appreciation of the worth of each constituent of the citizenry, an exercise only possible and expressible in the collective. This is why the word, People, is so politically precious. The Constitution defines the Nigerian Citizenry as the source of all powers of government and the legitimation of its governance. “We the people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Having firmly and solemnly resolved; to live in unity and harmony as one indivisible an ...

Former head of state, General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) has said that only death will separate him from politics and 2015 presidential contest. General Buhari who was the 2011 presidential candidate of the opposition Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) that had just merged into All Progressives Congress (APC) said as long as he lived he would never quit politics. The three-time presidential candidate of CPC who spoke on Kaduna-based Desmin Independent Television (DITV) last weekend, which was monitored by Daily Sun added that he would willingly offer himself for the next presidential race if the APC members and his supporters decided to give him the opportunity again. He expressed the fear that if power was not wrested from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2015, individuals under the party would plunder the nation’s resources and pocket them for personal satisfaction. He said, “on the issue of my ambition to contest the next election or not. Many people, especially from my party, are really ...

Joshua Harris Research Paper HUMS 105C July 3, 2011 Homelessness In America Homelessness is a problem that effects each and every city large and small in the United States. The numbers are staggering. The National Law Center estimates that there are 3.5 million people in the United States that are without shelter. 1.35 million of the 3.5 are estimated to be children (National Coallition for the Homeless). This is an unacceptable statistic considering that the United States led the world last year in GDP or Gross Domestic Product (a highly used statistic of prosperity). It has also been found that that in almost every city in the Union, the number of homeless far exceeds the capacity of shelters and other sources of relief. At the advent of the 21st Century, homelessness will be one of major challenges as a nation and as people in general. The causes are varied in their origin. One of the main causes that has emerged recently is forclosure. Between April 12th, 2008 and April 12th, 2009, there was a 32% per ...

Former President Thabo Mbeki's famous speech: I am an African. I owe my being to the hills and the valleys, the mountains and the glades, the rivers, the deserts, the trees, the flowers, the seas and the ever-changing seasons that define the face of our native land. My body has frozen in our frosts and in our latter day snows. It has thawed in the warmth of our sunshine and melted in the heat of the midday sun. The crack and the rumble of the summer thunders, lashed by startling lightening, have been a cause both of trembling and of hope. The fragrances of nature have been as pleasant to us as the sight of the wild blooms of the citizens of the veld. The dramatic shapes of the Drakensberg, the soil-coloured waters of the Lekoa, iGqili noThukela, and the sands of the Kgalagadi, have all been panels of the set on the natural stage on which we act out the foolish deeds of the theatre of our day. We talked of Energy Efficiency. India it is time starts worrying about Energy Security also. A country that imports over 80% of the fossil fuel sourced energy and where the products like diesel, petrol and LPG are heavily subsidized coughs out billions of rupees by way of energy subsidy and yet cannot keep the energy prices under control. To rein in Price Rise and inflation requires taking harsh decisions. Sooner than the later. But then is our political system geared up for a change to talk in one voice on such issues of National Interest ? Defense, Poverty Alliviation, Foreign Policy, Internal Security, Health and Education are some examples which cannot mean differently to different political parties if they have National interest at the Heart. Unruly scenes in the parliament, ugly demonstrations on the Streets and Street Smart politicians exploiting such situations to their advantage even on delicate issues like terrorism or internal security is very common. It was stalled and opposed by an unruly MPs in Lok Sabha on 20 12 2012. Why this bill is opposed and stalled in the Parliament? Whether it has any illegal, unconstitutional and unethical interest to the National Interest, No. Is it because the so called upper Caste are unwilling to share the Higher Post to the so called lower castes. Savagery in the Savannah By Anthony Chuka Konwea, P.E. Bigotry and corruption are the two core existential threats confronting Nigeria in its stuttering march towards genuine nationhood. In a number of recent write-ups with general slant on nation-building, this writer has sounded the alarm on the danger which corruption in high and low places poses to the future of the country. Indeed such essays as ‘The Unholy Trinity – National Interest vs. Regime Interest’, ‘Who Is The Thief-In-Chief? - Parts (1), (2), and (3)’ and ‘To You Looters, Rejoice!!!’ have reflected extensively on the phenomenology of corruption in Nigeria. At first glance, bigotry and corruption appear to be completely unrelated. At a higher level of abstraction however we notice that there is indeed a connection between the two. My loot! My religion!! My children!!! My tribe! There you have it. The link between bigotry and corruption is ego and the celebration of self. It is the same self-enhancing ego which motivates the corn ...

FDR’s Failed Moral Leadership Roosevelt was no humanitarian, despite what presidential historians say. By JOHN R. MILLER A new book, Where They Stand, written by National Interest editor Robert W. Merry, shows that American historians consistently list Franklin Delano Roosevelt just behind Lincoln and Washington on their ratings of American presidents. A recent issue of Newsweek lists FDR as the top modern president. Years ago, the Schlesinger Presidential Poll even rated FDR first among all presidents. I believe these judgments cannot be sustained. Correcting them might help Americans clarify what kind of character they want in the presidents they elect. FDR was certainly influential. After all, even if economists on the right and left debate whether it was his stimulus policies or World War II rearmament that finally ended depression era unemployment, FDR certainly bolstered American confidence after the Depression and during World War Two, while greatly extending the scope of American government. My ...

National Interest: 1962, a different story Shekhar Gupta New Indian Express, Sat, Oct 20 2012 In the darkness of defeat on the east, let’s recall a bright, shining moment—of courage on the western front It is a sad but touching fact that nations and militaries tend to have stronger, more durable memories of their defeats than of their victories. Maybe because victories soon lose their euphoria in the inevitable economic aftermath of a decisive war, high inflation, arrogant, victorious establishments and so on. We have the post-1971 (Bangladesh War) turn of events in India, leading to 27 per cent inflation and the Emergency, as a sobering example. Maybe it is also because the pain of a military defeat sours our minds much more, leaving permanent scars that endure through generations. And it may just be that for generations, the loser wishes he could fight the same battle, the same war, again, this time with different results of course. How else do we explain the wide interest now in the war with China, ...

James Kitfield argues in "Mitt Romney's Neocon Puzzle," in the September/October 2012 issue of the National Interest, the following thesis: "To understand the foreign-policy narrative Mitt Romney is attempting to articulate, it's important to grasp the threads of foreign-policy thought that he and the campaign are drawing on."(p. 30) Drawing from the work of historian Walter Russell Mead's important 2001 work, Special Providence: American Foreign Policy and How It Changed the World, which traces the historiography of American Foreign Policy, Kitfield makes the case for a complex foundation undergirding that policy in its contemporary configuration. First, a little history. Prior to America's intervention into WWI under then President Woodrow Wilson, there was much discussion among the American public regarding the role of America in the world. As America became a global power, between the period of its success in the Spanish American war and its emergence from WWI as the greatest creditor nation in the wo ...

Will the MKO Go to the Good-Terrorists Side? By: Nejat Bloggers Printer Friendly Tags: Hot Topics | MKO's terrorist activities | Mujahedin Khalq- Terrorism | Paid advocacy for MKO September 18 2012 Only a few weeks are left to the deadline a US Court assigned for the State Department to make decision on the terrorist designation of the Mujahedin Khalq Organization. Whether the State Department will delist the group or not depends on the US government’s approach about terrorism. The US reaction towards terrorism has been propagandistic. “The common American tendency to view the outside world in starkly divided Manichean terms between friends, allies and good guys on one side and adversaries and evil-doers on the other side arises in many circumstances but seems especially marked in discussions of terrorism, writes Paul Pillar of the National Interest.[1] A few weeks ago the US black listed the Pakistan-based Haqqani network. National Interest: The caste of corruption Is there a caste or communal link to corruption and crime? Or, are your chances of being involved (and getting caught) in corruption cases higher as you go down the caste ladder? Nobody in his right mind would say yes to either of these. But let’s examine some facts. Why is there a preponderance of this underclass among those charged with corruption, or even targeted in media sting operations? Here is a roll call: A. Raja and Mayawati (Dalit), Madhu Koda and Shibu Soren (tribal), Lalu Prasad and Mulayam Singh Yadav (OBC), are all caught in corruption or disproportionate assets cases. Faggan Singh Kulaste, Ashok Argal and Mahavir Singh Bhagora, caught in the cash-for-votes sting, are all SC/ST; among the BSP MPs in the cash-for-queries sting, Narendra Kushwaha and Raja Ram Pal (who is now in the Congress) are OBC, and Lalchandra Kol a Dalit. Rachel Maddow's team should congratulate themselves tonight - they delivered a tight show, well-researched and corroborated, composed of multiple pieces that fit together to form a fuller picture of events at diplomatic missions in Egypt and Libya and reaction to them - one that proves revealing of character ... or the lack thereof. Of course, it's easier to be enthusiastic when the story supports their political leanings - but there is no denying that one candidate's response was premature, accusatory, reactionary, and mistaken, attacking embassy personnel at the very moment those same people were under physical attack, while the other candidate's response was measured, steadfast, and presidential. It's a volatile world - we don't need for president a bumbling bombast rattling sabers and acting against our national interest for his own political gain. I have reservations about the other guy, but his Foreign Policy has helped restore US dignity and made the world safer, and he does not deny scientific evi ...
Dozens of Egyptian protestors climbed the walls of the U.S. embassy in Cairo Tuesday, stormed the compound and tore down the American flag, replacing it with a black Islamist flag bearing the inscription "There is no god but God and Muhammad is his prophet." Promotion of National Interest is central to nation state..is the Nigerian Government really promoting/protecting the National Interest?
Jones seems to delight in the fact that Islamists halfway around the world erupt in violent outrage at his provocations. That’s despicable. But we’re not responsible for the evil, illegal actions others might take in response to our freely expressing our thoughts. Even if they’re ill informed, half-...
The murder of the US ambassador to Libya is a shocking reminder to Barack Obama that helping to overthrow dictators does not guarantee stability in the region
I ENDORSE GENERAL BUHARI. I HEREBY announce my support of General Muhammed Buhari as Nigeria next President. He is credible, and capable of changing Nigeria for the better. Is GMB an angel? No. Indeed, I have criticized him in the past. I have expressed my disappointment that PDP and there background act as if they are all that Nigerians has got by looting our Money! Which is not good for our country. Come2015 elections, however, he will be the best that Nigeria has got. Everyone will see that 2015 election will be the most free and faire in Nigeria’s history. It will show whether we have learned anything from our own history or not, and therefore whether we are determined to move forward or not. Of the lessons we have learned from the ruling party, the elections will show, most of all, whether we have learned what I call the David Hill lesson. As editor of the London Weekend, Mr. Hill wrote a column in which he considered the question as to why people would do the same thing over and over again but exp ...
Showing his true colors, Romney again chooses personal interest over national interest. Vote to re-elect President Barack Obama.
Tom Carter McCain is full of crap!!! He wants to continue to "help" Libya . let them die on the vine. Too much American money spent on them . we don't need their oil ... go to *** Letting those *** think we are afraid of them is a *** remark and that is why you lost the election in 08. Keep our 6th Fleet in the Med Senator McCain . remove all Americans from Libya and let them die a miserable death among nations of the world. It is NOT in our national interest to support a puppet government in Libya.
This month's Energy Express features two stories of national interest: learn about new wind turbines in Mass. and a massive solar array in Ariz.
Oh I see... it's not that what Obama/Clinton said about yesterday's events was defensible on its face; rather, it's that we are wrong to criticize them, or the Muslim Brotherhood, for the deaths of a measly four people when so many more die as a result of our evil, evil self/national interest. In other words, don't worry about that fellow behind the curtain. Despicable, vile tactic.
Kwani ilikuwa lazima Ongeri atravel 2 Somalia. Let this gvnt deal with issue of national interest first. Bure sana!
it is an absurd ..suggestion . ,,, wife and husband are equals in household and domestic bliss is for both of them . why the govt always tries to create unnecessary mess in such matters . why not take care of the national issues . and apply effectively UNIFORM CIVIL CODE IN INDIA IN NATIONAL INTEREST . ?
Raja Hari singh -J&K ne 1947 mein India ko join kiya tha . aur J&K india ka hissa bana .. is mei koi do rai nahi . par repeated lies become truth . after hindus and non -muslims are uprooted and driven out of this state .. with the connivance of Pakistan and muslims -fanatics in this side . and some wrong policies of the government time to time .. even the part called POK is also the part of India . but there after it is LOC which is being honoured . but what a misery it is that devil's repeated lies are shown as truth . we all must oppose . now no more division / partition . or compromises at the cost of National interest . it is time to rehabilitate Hindus and a few other s who are driven out and uprooted from the state . they should be given safe passage to return to the state and live happily . there ..the need is to scrap the article 370 for the sake of nation and people ..

Can an engaged citizenry insist that the nation states to which we belong hold fast to the same dictates of moral responsibility that governs our lives as individuals or give them the levity to exceed the bounds of commonly accepted principles in the defense or support of national interest and sovereignty?
No say in the choice of leader September 11 2012 at 11:11am By Philani Mgwaba Our ruling alliance and many of its supporters look to authoritarian one-party regimes such as China and Cuba for inspiration and as role models to be emulated. Government ministers and ruling party heavyweights have racked up thousands of air miles to Beijing and Havana on economic study tours and to sign co-operation agreements. Some of them even get misty-eyed when talking about their ideological comrades in China and Cuba. Sure, China has helped prop up our tottering economy, buying up huge amounts of our mineral resources to fuel its growing economy. This has helped soften the slow-down of our economy and has perhaps averted a full-blown recession. But the Chinese, ruthless nationalists that they are, are not buying our stuff out of the goodness of their heart. They need our resources, perhaps more than we need their yuan. The Cubans, well, I am not really sure why it is in our national interest to give bail-outs to the Cas ...
"The statesman must think in terms of the national interest, conceived as power among other powers. The popular mind, unaware of the fine distinctions of the statesman’s thinking, reasons more often than not in the simple moralistic and legalistic terms of absolute good and absolute evil." - Hans J. Morgenthau

From the President Elect: Mr. Hussein Sh. Mohamud. "Thank you all for your support and for your congratulatory notes and messages. It's been indeed a difficult process but one that will Insha Allah (God willing) lead to positive change. With your help, we will Insha Allah take Somalia to the next level: a Somalia that we are all happy with. His Excellency promises that he will stick to his electoral promises. He believes there is need for reconciliation among the Somali intellectuals. You will understand that he cannot pick each and every call nor attend to each and every email message sent to him. He does, however, appreciate your support and best wishes. His sees today's victory as a victory for Somalia and for all Somalis. He does NOT have any affiliations whatsoever: whether political, religious or otherwise. He vows to work with everybody: Somalis and non-Somalis alike on the protection, defense and promotion of the Somali national interest. Also, he needs and therefore, requests your help, advice, a ...
"Many economists will argue that the market should be the mechanism used to determine compensation for maths teachers. They will rely on the theory of demand and supply. In that theory, where demand outstrips supply of maths teachers, all other things remaining constant, the cost of their services will rise, hence their compensation. But others will contend that education as a social good produced within the public system should not be made to conform to the theory of demand and supply in price determination." What do you say? After reading most if not all articles pertaining to Woolworths Employment Equity stance and the recently published EE report, I have decided to shop at Woolworths going forward for the below reasons; - Woolworth (Ww) has embraced a policy of national interest. - To replace the consumer boycotting Ww based on narrow and racist narratives. - Financially encourage Ww and other companies transforming companies to continue with the good work. - To make those companies refusing to transform aware that their resistance to implementing EE is likely to lead to financial under performance and subsequent down fall. I thus humbly request Africans, Asians, Coloureds, Indians and transformed White consumers to continue or start supporting Ww in the interest of advancing national redress.

defers discussion on Report, while C'Wealth Secretary General Sharma urges all concerned to respect CONI findings. MDP leaders working in UK to discredit Maldives are spreading false rumors that this deferral is a rejection by the Commonwealth of the CONI report. However, it is clear from Mr. Sharma's statement that Commonwealth has accepted the CONI report and is committed to assisting the Maldives in implementing its recommendations. In his statement on Aug 30, SG Sharma said, "I urge all concerned to respect the findings of the Commission so that, moving forward, all actions and reactions reflect the sense of responsibility and restraint necessary in the best national interest". "“Nation-building and institution-building are complex and long-term processes. I am convinced that through genuine dialogue and commitment, Maldives can build a foundation on which to advance both democracy and development. The Commonwealth will remain a willing partner in that quest.", he added. Referring to the resignation ...

Redefining “Conspiracy Theory” “The Middle East believes in conspiracy theories, anyway. If you think we believe in conspiracy theories in this country, in the Middle East it’s bread and butter.” – Former U.S. Counter-Terrorism Czar Richard Clarke. From an interview with HBO host Bill Maher, a few days after the scripted assassination of Osama Bin Laden in May 2011. The term “conspiracy theory,” has been amazingly effective in marginalizing dissent in Western culture for so long because it puts limits on free speech without giving the impression to the apathetic general public that its purpose is to limit free speech and kill free thought. Western governments use the term “conspiracy theory” to destroy intellectual liberty, hide their crimes against humanity, and keep their citizens in a state of mental slavery. In Islamic societies the boundaries of free speech end at the point when the legacy of Muhammad and the authenticity of the Koran are questioned. Muslims are slaves of a dead m ...
