Confederacy of Dunces? From the president on down, they are in resolute denial about radical Islam. - By Victor Davis Hanson, National Review, 23/9/14. The military effort against the Islamic State hinges on a successful threefold approach involving intelligence, Homeland Security, and diplomacy. Unfortunately, the Obama Administration does not have much past history in these areas to warrant confidence. Director of National Intelligence, James Clapper, just announced that the U.S. has underestimated the Islamic State. Clapper was probably correct, if unwise in apprising the world of U.S. incompetence, but he left out of his apologia any mention of why the U.S. has continuously downplayed the dangers of radical Islam. The answer is largely found among the Obama team, of which Clapper is a key part, and which has constructed its assessments to fit preconceived political directives. The over-riding belief of the Obama Administration is that there is not really a radical Islamic movement that seeks to destro ...

20 years in prison. That’s the penalty you could face for travelling to a country the President has labelled to be “of concern”. Sending any form of monetary assistance to people in the country merits further steep penalties. Recently introduced in Congress, ‘The International Conflicts of Concern Act’ gives the President the power to ban travel to certain countries with the flick of his pen. And the only way around the ban is by applying to the Treasury Department for a special license. A travel license to leave the country? These kinds of ‘people controls’ are synonymous with regimes like North Korea and Cuba—the latter of which has of course largely been off limits for US citizens for decades. So far the first country they’ve chosen is Syria, where Director of National Intelligence, James Clapper, warns that terrorist cells are using the country as a training ground to radicalize foreign nationals. Their logic? Apparently US citizens might go to Syria and learn to be terrorists. So it ...

Hart calls on Obama to fire CIA director, open full investigation by Bob Hart for Congress March 14, 2014 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Hart for Congress Committee The CIA is out of control. The spy agency has admitted to conducting a covert hacking and file destruction operation against the Senate Intelligence Oversight Committee that was investigating allegations of prior illegal CIA acts. The CIA’s conduct constitutes a blatant and unacceptable act of intimidation against the critical civilian oversight of its operations. As CIA Director Brennan has confessed to hacking the Senate Oversight Committee computers, probable cause exists to believe the CIA has engaged in criminal and unconstitutional attacks on the very core of our representative government. This is unacceptable. President Obama should decisively address this constitutional crisis by firing both CIA Director Brennan and Brennan’s boss, James Clapper, the Director of National Intelligence (DNI). Security clearances for both men should be revoke ...

HOUSE JUDICIARY COMMITTEE MEMBERS CALL FOR DOJ INVESTIGATION OF NATIONAL INTELLIGENCE DIRECTOR CLAPPER FOR LYING TO CONGRESS WASHINGTON. D.C. – Today, Representatives Darrell Issa (CA-49), Jim Sensenbrenner (WI-5), Trent Franks (AZ-08), Blake Farenthold (TX-27), Trey Gowdy (SC-04), Raul Labrador (ID-01) and Ted Poe (TX-02) sent a letter to U.S. Attorney General Eric H. Holder, Jr. urging an investigation of the Director of National Intelligence, James Clapper, for lying to Congress while testifying before the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence in March of 2013. “Director Clapper’s willful lie under oath fuels the unhealthy cynicism and distrust that citizens feel toward their government and undermines Congress’s ability to perform its Constitutional function,” the Members write in their letter to Holder. “There are differences of opinion about the propriety of the NSA’s data collection programs. There can be no disagreement, however, on the basic premise that congressional witnesses mu ...

Obama’s Director for National Intelligence, James Clapper, has declassified new documents that reveal how the NSA was first given the green light to start collecting bulk communication data in the hunt for Al-Qaeda terrorists after 9/11. President Barack Obama’s administration has for the first time publicly confirmed, "the existence of collection activities authorized by President George W. Bush," such as bulk amounts of Internet and phone metadata, as part of the "Terrorist Surveillance Program" (TSP). The disclosures are part of Washington's campaign to justify the NSA’s surveillance activities, following massive leaks to the media about the classified programs by former NSA contractor Edward Snowden. Clapper explained on Saturday that President George W. Bush first authorized the spying in October 2001, just weeks after the September 11 attacks. It was revealed that President Bush issued authorizations every 30-60 days. Each authorization required, "the minimization of information collected conc ...

Yet he gets charged - big trail. I don't know if he was guilty or not, really don't care. In my humble opinion Congress has a lot more to worry about than athletes and steroids. I guess if you are associated with the Obama Administration, you can lie your *** off and nothing happens.

Tonight, CBS put John Miller, an ex NSA exec on a double-fifteen minute approach to open the can of worms named NSA, and guess what, the worms had gone to Bermuda. My dog is not in this race, that is the one for NSA credibility, but I’ve always thought of 60 minutes in terms of Don Hewitt and Mike Wallace – folks who dig down to discover the truth despite any embarrassment those on the opposite end might experience. What bothers me about this thing, tonight, is not what NSA does, but the often smirky, white-washed bias they use in responding to inquiries. Gen Alexander, its head, is Mr. Roberts as he explains they only protect the neighborhood, and his boss, James Clapper, Director of National Intelligence, has actually lied in front of an oversight Senate Committee with his statement that NSA does not collect data on American citizens. Of course when called on this, he said he’d “misspoke.” 60 minutes has done, in the past, genuine investigative reporting that occasionally changes things for th ...

Breaking News » Fallout on US spying scandal spreads to Capitol Hill DEBKAfile October 29, 2013, 10:43 AM (GMT+02:00) Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif) said Monday that the Senate Intelligence Committee which she heads had not been informed of “certain surveillance activities” for more than a decade, she was “totally opposed to collecting intelligence on leaders of US allies – including France, Spain, Mexico and Germany” and would initiate a major review of the NSA operation. Sen. Feinstein said the White House had informed her that “collection on our allies would not continue.” However, administration officials later stressed that a final decision on the matter has not been made. National Intelligence director James Clapper is expected to face questions when he testifies before the House Intelligence Committee on Tuesday. A large delegation of European Union lawmakers is in Washington to discuss the allegations. The LA Times reports anger in NSA and other U.S. intelligence agencies over Pres ...

Secret US court, unrestrained by privacy concerns, confirms NSA surveillance powers US federal court tasked with monitoring spy agencies confirmed the NSA’s authority for bulk collection of phone metadata. The extension of the agency’s digital spying revealed by Edward Snowden has triggered a major debate on privacy. The National Security Agency is believed to have requested authorization from the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC) for a dragnet data collection roughly every six months since 2006. The practice was first made public after a June publication in the Guardian, based on classified documents leaked by Snowden, a former NSA contractor. Public outrage over what many consider a gross violation of privacy does not seem to have changed the mind of the judges sitting on the secret court. The latest NSA request to confirm its authority was granted, the office of James Clapper, Director of National Intelligence, revealed Friday. “DNI Clapper has decided to declassify and disclose pub ...

Daily Paul Liberty Forum DP Original Let's take another trip down the rabbit hole, shall we? Lost in the Edward Snowden debate is a critical look at his former employer, the company doing the spying on Americans in the first place: Booz Allen Hamilton. Booz Allen Hamilton is a government contractor, with 99% of its revenue coming from the US government. Not only does it receive money from the NSA, but also the US Army, US Navy, US Air Force, US Marine Corps, Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, the FBI and ... the IRS. In addition, Booz Allen is heavily connected to the CIA. Among the individuals involved in running the company, we have: James Clapper - current Director of National Intelligence (DNI), head of NSA, the man who lied to Congress about the fact that NSA is actively spying on Americans, is a former executive Mike McConnell - a current executive of the company, had Clapper's job (DNI) during George W. James Clapper, EU play-acting, and political priorities Fixations on denouncing Edward Snowden distract, by design, from the serious transgressions of those who are far more powerful By Glenn Greenwald "The NSA revelations continue to expose far more than just the ongoing operations of that sprawling and unaccountable spying agency. Let's examine what we have learned this week about the US political and media class and then certain EU leaders. The first NSA story to be reported was our June 6 article which exposed the bulk, indiscriminate collection by the US Government of the telephone records of tens of millions of Americans. Ever since then, it has been undeniably clear that James Clapper, the Director of National Intelligence, outright lied to the US Senate - specifically to the Intelligence Committee, the body charged with oversight over surveillance programs - when he said "no, sir" in response to this question from Democratic Sen. Ron Wyden: "Does the NSA collect any type of data at all on millions ...
"It was seeing a continuing litany of lies from senior officials to Congress - and therefore the American people - and the realization that that Congress, specifically the Gang of Eight, wholly supported the lies that compelled me to act. Seeing someone in the position of James Clapper - the Director of National Intelligence - baldly lying to the public without repercussion is the evidence of a subverted democracy. The consent of the governed is not consent if it is not informed." - Edward Snowden

Sources: James Clapper's Office Made The Controversial Edits To Susan Rice's Talking Points —Ace We've suspected this for months. Now people are saying it was indeed Clapper. Actually they're saying it was his office -- the Director of National Intelligence -- and any of several people might have made the changes. But I will stick with Clapper. He's proven himself to be a perfect Obama appointee, by which I mean incompetent and eminently malleable in his claims according to Obama's political needs. Furthermore, we are speaking here of the deaths of four Americans, including an ambassador. We are talking about Talking Points prepared by the CIA to be given to the US Ambassador for wide dissemination on television. And the US Ambassador was appearing on TV at the order of the White House (which I imagine means the President). As very senior people are involved on all ends of this, I doubt very much the edit job was done by a convenient subordinate. I would imagine another principal-- Clapper himself -- ma ...

DNI James Clapper Tells Congress Syrian Terrorists Are Al Qaeda May 6th, 2012 • 12:18 PM James Clapper, the Director of National Intelligence, said in a Senate hearing on May 3 that the recent attacks in Damascus and Aleppo, "had all the earmarks of an al Qaeda-like attack," in that they were targeted at security and intelligence buildings in its choice of targets. "We believe that al Qaeda in Iraq is extending its reach into Syria," said Clapper. EIR will review the transcript when it is available. This is not the first time Clapper has said that al Qaeda is engaged in the terror attacks across Syria. This al Qaeda terror wave has escalated over the past days, with three powerful terrorist bombs detonated in Syria this morning — one in Aleppo which killed at least five civilians at a car wash, openly claimed by the Free Syrian Army, and two in Damascus which destroyed nine cars. The car wash was reported by the terrorists to be "used" by pro-Assad militia. Earlier in the week, there were bombing targ ...
