CONFIRMED MISSION - Thu, 22 May 14 LTC William E Hattaway, 81, US Army, Retired, Vietnam Veteran, OF Kempner, TX The family of Lieutenant Colonel William Hattaway has requested the presence and participation of the Patriot Guard Riders at the Funeral Service and Interment of their Loved One. William was drafted into the Army in 1953. Following graduation from Officer's Candidate School in 1954, he spent the next two years as a fixed wing pilot in Korea, returning to Ft Rucker, AL, where he earned his helicopter pilot training and was selected to serve as a instructor in the Department of Rotary Wing. In 1960, he attended the Advanced Course at Ft Benning, GA, and soon transferred to Nuremberg, Germany, serving in the 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment as a patrol pilot on the Czechoslovakian/East German border. In 1964, he received his Bachelor of Science Degree at the University of Nebraska, and subsequently assumed command of Headquarters Company 512 AIB, Ft Hood, TX. United States Navy Vietnam Veteran Jacksonville National Cemetery – 18 April 2014 The family of Jim Odom has requested the Patriot Guard Riders stand in silent respect for their hero. Jim joined the Navy in 1955 and served in several squadrons where he utilized his engine repair skills on C-1, C-2 and P-3 aircraft, including a tour as flight engineer for Admiral, Seventh Fleet. He served aboard aircraft carriers in the Gulf of Tonkin, serving as primary shuttle between Vietnam and those ships with C-1 and C-2 shipboard carrier borne transport aircraft. He received an honorable discharge in 1977. During his service, he earned the Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medals. The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited by the family of fallen US Army veteran James 'Shag' Cooper to participate in his funeral, escort and interment service. Mr. Cooper lost his life Sunday, April 6 following a motorcycle accident. The funeral will take place at Smith's Funeral Home, Fallon, NV Friday, April 18 at 10:00 AM. Following the service the Patriot Guard Riders will escort Shag Cooper, his family and friends from Fallon to the Northern Nevada Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Fernley, NV for a 12:00 Noon service during which the PGR will stand a flag line. Spec 4 Shag Cooper honorably served with the Combat Engineers from 1966 to 1968 in Vietnam. Honor Mission - Roger Allen Miller, 74 - USN, Re - Danville, IL - 21 FEB 14 Mission Details The family of Roger Allen Miller has asked the Patriot Guard Riders to stand in Honor of his service. Roger was born in 1939, he served in the United States Navy for 28 years. There will be a Flag Line only at Danville National Cemetery. During his career Roger was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Award with one Silver Star, SSBN Deterrent Patrol Insignia with two Silver and one Gold Star, Meritorious Unit Commendation and the Navy Expeditionary Medal. Roger was inducted into the Holland Club in 2008. He served aboard the USS Triton under Captain Edward Beach, Jr. when it completed the world's first submerged circumnavigation of the earth on 10 April 1960. Ronald Phillip Ladouceu, 64, USA, Vietnam Veteran, Holly, MI, 27 SEP 13 The family of Pfc. Ronald Phillip Ladouceur has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to stand in honor of his service to his country. Mr. Ladouceur was born in Highland Park, Mich. 4/6/1949 passed 9/10/2013, he was 64 yrs. of age. Son of the late Phillip and Jeannine Ladouceur, he is survived by his brothers Stephen and Robert, sisters Dianne, Julie, and Yvonne. Pfc Ladouceur served in Vietnam from 8/7/1969 to 10/1/1970 as an armored personnel carrier driver and machine gunner with the 1st Cav., 23rd Infantry Division near Chu Lai. He was awarded a Purple Heart Bronze Star, National Defense Service Medal , Army Commendation Medal with First Oak Cluster, Republic of Vietnam Civil Actions Medal, First Class Unit Citation Badge, and 2 Overseas Bars. It is with a deeply saddened heart that I must announce that the State of Tennessee is in mourning as we have lost another hero. Chief Larry T. Symons, Sr. passed away while living in Hawaii, and has been transported back to the Knoxville/Maryville area to be buried here in East Tennessee State Veteran’s Cemetery – John Sevier. The family has asked that the Patriot Guard Riders be in attendance and help the family show honor to their fallen hero. It will be our honor to do so.
