This is why it's great to be part of the Auburn Family and Great to be an Auburn Tiger! It really is about so much more than football. - Nosa Eguae's Open Letter to the Auburn Family Justin Hokanson AuburnSports.com Managing Editor AUBURN | Nosa Eguae signed with Auburn in 2009 following Gene Chizik's arrival on the Plains. Eguae may not have been a part of the Tigers' program if not for Chizik and Co.'s arrival. What a ride it's been. Eguae was injured his first season and redshirted. He became an important cog in Auburn's defensive line during the Tigers' 2010 title run, notching four tackles and a tackle for loss against Oregon in the 2011 BCS National Championship game. Eguae finished his final season where he finished his first playing season - back in the BCS National Championship. And Eguae again made an impact against Florida State, recording two tackles and one sack. Game Combined Average for BCS Bowls Up 10 Percent from 2013 ESPN’s “BCS Megacast” coverage of the VIZIO BCS National Championship – No. 1 Florida State over No. 2 Auburn 34-31 on Monday, Jan. 6 – averaged a 15.7 overnight rating across ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNEWS (the additional eight production variations do not receive overnights). The ESPN-only telecast averaged a 15.3 overnight rating. This metered-market rating – the highest for all of cable television since the January 2013 BCS National Championship on ESPN – helped drive the network’s five-game BCS average to a 9.9 metered market rating, marking a 10 percent increase over a 9.0 rating for last year’s five games. The game was also the highest-rated program on Monday, helping ESPN win the night among all networks. Birmingham led all markets for the telecast with a 55.8 rating, marking the third highest-rated bowl game on ESPN in the market behind the 2011 and 2012 BCS Championships. TOUGH LOSS: Auburn lost to Florida State in Monday's BCS National Championship. The final score was 31-34. The lead changed hands four times in the game. Here's a recap: It's the first time in a BCS title game that a team leading at the half didn't win. It also ends the SEC's streak of 7 straight wins. What are your thoughts on the loss? On Auburn football's future? We'll share some comments during WHNT News 19 This Morning!

Florida State and Auburn deliver possibly one of the greatest BCS National Championship games EVER! Watch the highlights below!
Happy New Year everybody. Just finished watching Jameis Winston and Florida State beat Auburn for the National Championship. I'm right again over my man (Ha). But what a great game. Maybe the best Nat'l Title Game I've seen since Vince Young and Texas beat Reggie Bush and USC. Now that we've gotten that out of the way, I feel the need to reiterate a couple of points I made on ESPN First Take this morning regarding Cincinnati Bengals Coach Marvin Lewis and Lousiville Coach, Charlie Strong. Marvin Lewis: I hope no one expected me to apologize for saying Lewis needs to go because I'm not about to. For one, the man has been to the playoffs just 5 times in 11 years. Secondly, at no time has he ever -- and I do mean, EVER -- won a playoff game. Lastly, regardless of how much I root for African-American coaches to succeed, how in God's name can I legitimately say anything about the Jason Garrett's or Mike Shanahan's of the world and give Lewis a pass when he's suffered similar results, but has done so over the c ...
Brent Musburger literally just said Florida State's National Championship was "fitting because Jimbo Fisher modelled their entire team off of the SEC" Really? Off the entire SEC? What a ridiculous comment.

With it being National Championship game day (and a snow day for my kids), I was reflecting on my only Auburn v. FSU game. In 1990 at 18 years old, my wonderful mom let my younger brother and I drive to Auburn for the game. Auburn came in ranked 5th and FSU was ranked 7th. We had 30 yard line seats on the Auburn side. Not surprisingly, there were lots of Seminoles in the crowd and two of them sitting right beside us. They did that same chop thing all game (this is before the Braves stole it). It drove me crazy!! I hated it!! This was all they did... No words, no nothing, just the same thing over and over. The game was back and forth with Auburn taking an early 7-0 lead in the 1st quarter and then Florida State scoring 17 points in the 2nd quarter alone to go into the half with the 17-7 lead. We were on our feet the entire game. We sat down at half and went and got a $1.50 coke in a plastic cup and watched all of the students pour their airplane bottle of JD into theirs. But this was serious comm ...

As collage football closes out Monday night between Florida State, and Auburn who ever wins, it's been fun. We have the two best teams in the National Championship I sure believe. We watched Mac Brown try to make everyone believe the disappointing season wasn't his fault, (Yea right Mac) But thank the Lord the UT. Board of Regents were tired of your blame games too. It almost cost the School President his job. For the people who says poor ole coach Mac Brown, he didn't deserve being forced to step down as coach? Well kiss a frog in the rear folks! No one says poor ole Will Muschamp, or Gene Davis in 2009 the last time Texas was in the National Championship, and lost to Alabama due to lets see' oh what was Texas' wuss of a QB Colt Mccoy? Will Muschamp was Texas' coach in waiting, and wanted to be the Coach. Old has been Mac Brown sent the team, and assistant coaches on out to Pasadena while ole good coach Brown stayed behind and begged for a new contract and raise and got it. Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher has officially signed a new five-year deal with the Seminoles through the 2018 season, the school announced Tuesday. The deal, agreed to during the season, is worth $21 million. It also includes a buyout that is not expected to result in an increased payment if Fisher were to leave, a source told ESPN's Joe Schad. Fisher has guided the No. 1 Seminoles (13-0) to the Vizio BCS National Championship against No. 2 Auburn on Monday. "We are extremely pleased with the direction of our program and believe that this new contract will assure that Coach Fisher is in place to lead the Seminoles for a long time to come," FSU athletic director Stan Wilcox said in a statement released by the school. "Coach Fisher enjoys the full support of the leadership of the university and we look forward to the continued success of our football program on the field and in the classroom." The new contract does not eliminate Fisher from contention for any other job openings, including Texas, which is ...

At Notre Dame, George Atkinson sends a text during a team meeting and gets suspended from playing in the bowl game. Everett Golson cheats on an exam and gets suspended for a semester. Meanwhile, at Florida State, Jameis Winston allegedly rapes someone and is given the Heisman and a spot in the National Championship game. Winning is much easier when ethics and integrity don't mean a *** thing.

Auburn's Gus Malzahn named AP coach of year Eds: APNewsNow. Will be updated. With AP Photos. By JOHN ZENOR AP Sports Writer AUBURN, Ala. (AP) - Auburn's Gus Malzahn is the Associated Press coach of the year. Malzahn received the honor Monday after directing one of the biggest turnarounds in College Football history. He has led the second-ranked Tigers into the National Championship game against No. 1 Florida State. They have gone from 3-9 to 12-1 in his debut season. Malzahn says the honor is "very humbling" but awards like this are a team accomplishment. He received 33 votes from AP Top 25 College Football poll voters to beat out Duke's David Cutcliffe. Cutcliffe received 17 votes after leading Duke (10-3) to its first 10-win season. Florida State's Jimbo Fisher and Michigan State's Mark Dantonio each received three votes. Malzahn is the second Auburn coach to win the award, joining Tommy Tuberville in 2004.

This is it, the final go-round for the BCS. The much-maligned system for determining College Football's national champion will be mothballed after this season, replaced by a four-team playoff next season. As finales go, it's hard to argue too much about the final title-game participants. Florida State was the only major-conference team to finish undefeated and Auburn had the best resume of the one-loss teams. That's the big one, but of course there are 34 other bowls, starting with four on Saturday, that will feature plenty of other good teams, star players and interesting match-ups. To get you ready, we've got a rundown of what to look for: ___ TOP GAMES BCS National Championship, Florida State vs. Auburn, Jan. 6, Pasadena, Calif. Duh. Sugar Bowl, Alabama vs. Oklahoma, Jan. 2, New Orleans. Two storied programs that fell short of their national-title aspirations are still pretty good. Orange Bowl, Ohio State vs. Clemson, Jan. 3, Miami. Teams that are a combined 45-5 since the start of last season and amon ...

Congrats to Jameis Winston from Florida State on winning 2013 Heisman (3rd person from Fla State Charlie Ward in 93 n Chris Weinke in 2000) now its on to Pasedena n win BCS National Championship
So Kiddies what have we learned this week? Wow what a weekend of football college and Pro respectively. Florida State and Auburn in the National Championship. They both took interesting paths to get there but they both made it. Ohio State is who we thought they were. Duke gave it their all and made it interesting for a quarter. Auburn and Missouri embodies everything I love and hate about College Football in its current state. I still hate the spread. The Patriots just keep on winning. Just remember more than any other team they get judged solely by what they do in the postseason. The Falcons and Vikings have been gifted lately in the art of stealing probable defeat from the jaws of certain victory. The 49ers, Saints, Bengals, Broncos, and Seahawks are looking pretty strong these days. Cam Newton and the offensive braintrust in Carolina may want to get the ball out of his hands to more of his teammates. Cam left, Cam right, Cam up the middle, is going to have Cam make an early exit out of the playoffs. Do ...
Florida State, the team that lost the first BCS National Championship game, and they will be the team to lose the last one
I can't lie, I'm still a little "salty" that Florida State played such weak competition, yet still playing in the National Championship. If that had to play the weakest S.E.C schedule, they most definitely wouldn't be undefeated.
I am glad to see an SEC team in the National Championship game. I am even more glad that this is the last year for the BCS. In a playoff scenario, we would get to see match-ups among Florida State, Auburn, Alabama, and Michigan State. I have nothing against Oklahoma; but it seems to me the Sugar Bowl could have found a more competitive opponent for the Mighty Alabama Crimson Tide. I'm just saying.lol.
Florida State and Auburn to play for National Championship as final BCS ... - New York Daily News: New York Da...
Well since I'm the only person I know whose two favorite College Football teams are the Florida St Seminoles and the Auburn Tigers, I'd like to officially hand out a "neener, neener, neener.." to anybody who pulls for any other teams. Next, I'd like to give my official National Championship analysis: It's going to get ugly for Auburn. I hate to say it; I'm an Auburn fan, I've rolled Toomer's tree(s) many times, and I've got tons of Auburn apparel.. but it's true. Florida St. goes about 1,300lbs on that Dline and they have the fastest (Yes, I said fastest, Alabama fans) defense in the country. Not to mention, I wouldn't be shocked at all if Florida St. never attempts a punt. The game will be nothing like the Missouri "shootout," yesterday. I do believe Auburn will make some plays.. face it, they're the "miracle team," but the Heisman Trophy winning Jameis Winston will, more than likely, look like Peyton Manning out there. And I don't want to hear the "ACC *** " argument because Florida State is more "SEC . ...
OSU and MSU benefitting from each other By Kevin Lange Believe it or not, Ohio State and Michigan State came to be beneficiaries of one another after their Big Ten Championship showdown. In full understanding, the Buckeyes would choose to negate this presumption, but the opinion stands firm in a foundation of proof. From Michigan State’s standpoint, Saturday’s Big Ten Championship was a win-win scenario for them, regardless of the outcome. Had they lost to the ranked Buckeyes, the Buckeyes would’ve held on for dear life to their rank, setting them up for the National Championship with Florida State. Ultimately, it would’ve bumped up the second place Spartans to the Rose Bowl to fill the spot for the Big Ten team. Obviously, that’s not the case. The fact that Michigan State won now has the carpet thrown down for them to waltz to the prestigious Rose Bowl with the quintessential defense and immensely improved offense. Right now, they’re flourishing about as well right now as their player personn ...
Arkansas athletics has become a soap opera of "what might have been". Bill Self, who wanted the job, could have been hired to replace Nolan Richardson, but no, we hired Stan Heath and then John Pelphrey. Self has since won a Big 10 Championship at Illinois and nine straight Big 12 and 1 National Championship at Kansas. And then there's Gus Malzahn, who we could have hired to replace Houston Nutt, but no, we hired Bobby Petrino. Malzahn helped Auburn win the 2011 BCS National Championship as their offensive coordinator, and as head coach, just won the SEC and will be playing Florida State for another National Championship. But we've got great fans and great facilities - right???
Florida State v Auburn... ACC v SEC for National Championship braggin' rights! Gonna be good ole fashion shootout!
The football gods are fickle, and they have memories. Urban Meyer abandoned Florida because of his health, but his problems were miraculously cured when he was offered the Ohio State job. He was a lock to play Florida State for the BCS National Championship (despite the fact, or perhaps because of it, that the Buckeyes played a creampuff schedule), but then the football gods stepped in … Suddenly find ‘the cure’, and then play a Florida team for the National Championship? The football gods said ‘No way!’ and sent as their avenging angel one that they had used many times before to hand out football judgment: Michigan State. There will be no BCS Championship game for Meyer; instead the ‘too sick to coach Florida but well enough to coach Ohio State’ Urban will play a game against Clemson, and if I was him I’d watch out: The football gods might not be finished with him yet! And of course the football gods also saw to it that FSU would play an SEC team for the Championship, and if I was ...
Auburn SEC Champs vs Florida State ACC Champs for the National Championship. Gonna be a great game! Hiesman? Think that's gonna be a toss up.
Goodnight my Demon Mafia Family an Night Walker Clan y'all stay safe for me ok an grtx to my boi's Florida State for stomping Duke tonight y'all in the nation I hope yall go to the National Championship :)
Worst thing about being a sports fan is disappointment! Don't even know what to say.it's easy to 2nd guess play calling but I will still say no one should have had the ball but Hyde! Also, if Fickell is on the coaching staff next year, I will not watch 1 game! OSU is twice the team of Florida State but they're playing for the National Championship.what a joke!
After all the dust has settled on the College Football games on Saturday, Lou Holtz stated that he feels it will be Florida State vs. Alabama in the National Championship game..gotta love that crazy old man...
See you in Pasadena, Florida State! The Seminoles punch their ticket to the National Championship game with 45-7 rout of …
TIDE NATION start praying for justice to be done tomorrow. We need Auburn to lose to Missouri (which they will) and Michigan State to beat Ohio State (which they will), so the two best teams can play for the 2013 B.C.S. National Championship . The two time defending Champions Alabama Crimson Tide (who should be right now not considering who was on Ohio State's schedule) vs. the Florida State Seminoles. Roll Tide.
If the Seminoles and Buckeyes meet in the BCS National Championship, our projected spread would be: Florida State (-10) vs Oh…
My birthday wish,. Duke over Florida State, Michigan State over Ohio State, and an Iron Bowl rematch for the National Championship!! Roll Tide!
So tomorrow is the day for Jameis Winston. The same office that got Casey Anthony acquitted and rushed to prosecute the Trayvon Martin case is going to release their findings which will greatly impact the lives of two young people and much less importantly, the National Championship landscape. One thing is for certain, even though Florida State's dictates that a student-athlete is suspended from game action if charged with a felony until the charge is resolved "absent extraordinary circumstances as determined by the administration." Florida State can not allow him to play if he is arrested. After what happened at Penn State, Florida State can not risk the public affairs disaster that would come with placing it's football program, and those in it, before the welfare of its general student population. If you want to deal with what Penn State has been dealing with for the last 2 years go right ahead and let him play if he is arrested. Personally, I think that they are allowing Winston and his attorney the .. ...
There's so much debate on whether Ohio State should play for the National Championship or should Auburn or Missouri. My opinion? Doesn't matter because as long as Jameis Winston isn't suspended for sexual abuse charges, Florida State is going to beat all of those teams. The fact that FSU wouldn't have to play a Nick Saben defense practically guarantees a win there. Winston is 2013s Cam Newton. We saw what happened when he played in the National Championship.
I'm trying to see the debate that Auburn has to be ahead of Ohio State or Florida State. Ohio State hasn't lost in two seasons. Florida State has been dominant. Yes...Ohio State almost lost to Michigan. But Auburn shouldn't have beaten Alabama. OSU & FSU National Championship. Let's go.
Just suppose.that Ohio State was beaten by Michigan State and just suppose...that Duke pulled out an unbelievable upset of Florida State and just suppose...that Auburn wins against Missouri; and just suppose...that Alabama and Auburn had a rematch for the National Championship. Just supposing.
Ohio State fans and players immediately grasped the significance: the Buckeyes are one win over Michigan State away from playing Florida State for the national title (and no, not even the SEC champ is jumping an unbeaten team from a power conference with master BCS-politicker Urban Meyer around). (The Noles need to down Duke as well, but let's pencil that one in.) And the rest of the bowl picture was shaken up as well. New projections here. And yes, I had Auburn in a BCS game last week and now in a non-BCS game, despite the Tigers just ending Alabama's dynasty. Allow me to explain below. Bowl Matchup (Not always tied to conference standings) Team Team 1/6/2014 BCS National Championship (Pasadena) BCS 1 vs. BCS 2 Florida State Ohio State 1/3/2014 Orange (Miami) Florida State replacement vs. At-large 1 Alabama Clemson 1/2/2014 Sugar (New Orleans) SEC 1 vs. At-large 2 Missouri UCF 1/1/2014 Rose (Pasadena) Ohio State replacement vs. Pac-12 1 Michigan State Stanford 1/1/2014 Fiesta (Glendal ...
For Auburn or Missouri to have a chance to play for the National Championship, either Duke has to beat Florida State (not likely), or Michigan St to beat Ohio (little better chance). Even then, who knows what the pollsters will vote for. Latest projections have Ole Miss vs Marshall in the Liberty Bowl, Vandy in the Music City Bowl, and Miss State vs either Rutgers or Houston in the Compass bowl.
Is it possible for Auburn and Alabama to play in the National Championship game? If Ohio State and Florida State lose in their conference games?
You SEC AKA AUBURN fans need to get over it, the SEC won't win the National Championship this year, it will be Ohio State or Florida StATE deal with it
So I just woke up and seen that alabama got beat by auburn yesterday so that means if we beat Michigan State next Saturday night then we will go to the National Championship game and play Florida State. Oh how I love my buckeyes! it's 7:05 a.m. and guess what? MEchigan Still ***
It was fun to watch Alabama lose in what probably was the most amazing finish to a College Football game ever! That being said, I wanted to see Florida State play and beat the best in the nation for a National Championship. Ohio State is NOT the team in the nation despite what the BCS says tonight. Things could still sort themselves out since Ohio States toughest game of the season will come in the Big 10 Championship next week. Hey Urban Myer…Maybe its time to start faking chest pain again because after next weeks games you'll have the attention of the sunshine state once again.
Listen to this scenario. Florida State loses to Duke. Ohio State loses to Michigan State. Auburn wins the SEC championship. And BAM! Iron Bowl rematch for the BCS National Championship game!
Look at it like this Florida State beat a 4-7 Florida, Ohio State beat a 7-4 Michigan, Florida State will play Duke in the ACC championship, Ohio State will play Michigan State, if Ohio State beats Michigan State and has a 13-0 record how can anyone justify leaving them out of the National Championship?
Thank you Jimbo Fisher and thank you Florida State keep it up. Let's get that BCS National Championship. Go Noles
Okay, College Football fans, here are my fearless predictions that explain how Auburn University will make it to the National Championship game. I'm posting it now before my hopes have a chance to be dashed. I will say that everything in this hypothetical series of events is very possible. Here's what could happen: Baylor is upset by Oklahoma State on 11/23 Auburn upsets Alabama on 11/30 (OF COURSE!) Auburn beats South Carolina in SEC championship game (South Carolina’s bid thanks to Missouri losing to either Ole Miss or Texas A&M). Ohio State is upset in Big 10 championship game by Michigan State (their first REAL test of the year). Florida State wins out, beating Florida and winning ACC championship game over Duke. Auburn’s strong schedule and recent wins over Alabama and South Carolina vault them past Pac-12 champs Oregon in BCS standings (who will barely get by Arizona St. in P12 championship game). Final BCS top 10: Florida St., Auburn, Oregon, Alabama, Oklahoma St., Baylor, Michigan St., Ohio S ...
UCLA Bruins played amazing smash-mouth football by beating Washington meow meows 41 to 31!! Awesome win UCLA! and The Atlantic Division Champions Florida State Seminoles had little to no trouble crushing the Syracuse Orange men 59-3!! ACC Championship is next and after that the BCS National Championship! Go UCLA!!! Go FSU!!!
Ok...Stanford loses making Baylor a clear If Alabama loses to Auburn, Florida State to Florida and Ohio State to Michigan, Baylor could walk into the National Championship as a team.
I predict the Baylor Bears to be in the National Championship game in January facing Florida State. They moved up one spot closer to that tonight, possibly two spots.
Watching FSU all year and I have this totally new take on my Bears: Don't resign Cutler this offseason. Cut the aging stars, go young, and go terrible. Tank next year. Tank it badly. Win 1 or 2 games. Then, in April 2015 the commissioner will approach the podium and say "With the first pick... in the 2015 draft... the Chicago Bears select.. Famous. Jameis. Winston. QB, FSU." If you haven't seen him play, do yourself a favor and watch a Florida State game. If you are just waiting for the National Championship game, fine, you'll see him rip holes in Alabama when he gets there. If you like watching Cam Newton, Colin Kaepernik and RGIII revolutionize football, Jamies is NEXT. I want him in a Bears uni. I want to be part of the revolution.
Hmmm, it appears someone BIG out there fears Florida State is a THREAT on the playing field to win the National Championship ..& doesn't want that to happen.
Looks like the Ole' Tide could be playing Florida State in the National Championship. Roll Tide to that.
Ok Florida fans we all have to root for Florida State now to bring the State a National Championship. Don't be a hater
The big upset of the week happened on Thursday night when BCS No. 5 Stanford defeated No. 3 Oregon. As as result, Florida State's position at second became more solidified. If the Seminoles keep winning convincingly, FSU will surely be in the BCS National Championship. It is tightly knitted betwee...
Projections Week 12: Florida State solidifies case for BCS National Championship - College Football Universe
After tonight's game, I have to say that Florida State has to be the most complete and unbeatable team in the nation and deserves to be Say good bye to the SEC's National Championship winning streak. Heck, I think Baylor, Ohio State or Stanford can beat Alabama. I was hoping that Bama would be a dominating force but, they showed us tonight that they aint it. Luck does not win Championships.SEC next year I guess.
f four or five teams stay unbeaten, we'd see an fascinating situation unfold. Based on regulations in place to foster the traditional Big Ten vs. Pac-12 matchup, Oregon and Ohio State would play in the Rose Bowl on Jan. 1. That's just five days before Alabama and Florida State would face off on the very same field in Pasadena for the national title. Since the BCS National Championship game was added to the slate for the 2006-07 season, the title game has never been played at the same site as the BCS bowl featuring the No. 3 team.
Florida State & Oregon would be a great game for the 3rd and 4th best team in the nation. Just wonder which pro team they would get to play Bama so we could see a good game for the National Championship with Bama. Yall can hate if u want but u know I aint lyin.
So if Oregon, Florida State, and Alabama all go undefeated who do you put in the National Championship
Look... I'm a die hard Auburn fan, but if Alabama stays at and makes it to the National Championship... they WILL lose to Florida State... no doubt in my mind at all!!!
I'm terribly disappointed he didn't select UK, but in the past few weeks I was sure he would not pick UK. UK will be just fine with the "Great 8" Recruits coming in next year (six (6) High School All-Americans). No other team has ever had six (6) HS All-Americans coming in one year. He can make Kansas great and with AWiggins, Kansas will be in cotention for the National Championship. I wish he had selected Florida State because I don't believe FSU would have been a major threat even with Wiggins. His brother goes to and plays for Wichita State which is about 1 1/2 hour from KU. Although he didn't say it, I believe that was a major factor in his decision. I've read that they are very close. I wish him the very best and hope he stays healthy (unlike Nerlens Noel).
Andrew Wiggins, the best prep basketball player in years, selected Kansas over FSU and Kentucky. What does this mean for Florida State?
The day of reckoning is upon us. A Canadian is about to change the Bluegrass for about 6 months if he signes with UK today. My bet is that he will not.I don't think he will want to share the spotlight. He can still win a Championship if he went to UNC, but his best friend went to Florida State. I don't see him going to FS. No matter how it plays out, I will take a veteran National Championship team over 6 NBA first round rookies. In 4 years I have only seen one UK first rounder live up to his potential.and that was Anthony Davis. BAM!! let the chaos reign!!
Black history moment: Let's take the time out to wish football Hall of Famer and current NFL network analyst Michael Irvin a happy birthday today! The 15th of 17 siblings, Michael Jerome Irvin (born 03/05/1966) was born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He first attended Piper High School then went on to become a football star at St. Thomas Aquinas High School and was heavily recruited by the University of Miami, one of the top collegiate football programs in the nation. With the University of Miami, under coach Jimmy Johnson, Irvin set school records for career receptions (143), receiving yards (2,423 - later broken by Santana Moss) and touchdown receptions (26). He was part of Miami's 1987 National Championship team, and made one of the most legendary plays in school history that year, scoring on a 73-yard fourth quarter touchdown pass from Steve Walsh that provided the margin of victory in Miami's triumph over archrival Florida State, which propelled them into the National Championship Game against the top ...
Today is the birthday of Jon Bon Jovi, Karen Carpenter, Mikhail Gorbachev, and Sebastian Janikowski. Jon is 51 todauy. She, along with her brother Richard, formed "The Carpenters." On September 12, 2011, he kicked a 63 yeard field goal, which tied the NFL record.
Still feel Florida State wont be National Championship contender in the end, still cannot trust the ACC, Emmanuel is overrated at QB IMO
I am a proud ACC fan. Did I think Bama was gonna win last night and root fer them over Notre Dame absolutely. I know the ACC has been down now sice the late 90's and the great run that Florida St, UVA, Clempson, Georgia Tech. People ferget that Georgia Tech won a National Championship in early 90's and knocked off the team in the Nation (UVA) to do it. Yes I said UVA was in the nation and consistently top 15 and 20 all thru the 90's. Florida State was consistently top 5 and Clempson dominated the 80's into the 90's Nationally. I do not like Northeast teams in the ACC and I have said it before and I will continue to say it!! Syracuse, Pitt and Boston College brings us NOTHIN to the table in football, they are good basketball teams nationally and they are absolutely irrelevant in baseball!! The ACC has gone North to get teams, and the only benefits we will get is a powerhouse basketball conference like no other!!
The BCS National Championship game SUCKED! Until the NCAA implements a playoff system, you will continue to get blow outs like tonight. Congrats to Alabama, but it would have been more interesting to see them play Oregon, Florida State, Stanford, South Carolina or even rematch with Texas A&M or Georgia! The system needs to be overhauled. High school and the NFL participate in playoffs, why not College??
It's going to be a long time before another football team from the Midwest is invited to play the SEC for the National Championship. Texas, Oklahoma, Florida State and Miami (FL) will move heaven and earth to join the SEC. Big Ten fans of Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, and of Notre Dame will have to be satisfied with "The Granddaddy of Them All," except when the SEC wants to use the Rose Bowl for their championship series. And please, ESPN, please find another announcer to call the games. Mike Patrick is one of the best, use him. If I hear Brent Musberger tell me about one more high school I might throw a tennis shoe at the TV like I used to do back in the 70's watching Monday Night Football.
National Championship game tonight! Who or what are you rooting for: Notre Dame, Alabama, or stadium imploding? I'll take the latter! FSU has beaten both of these teams the last time they played! In fact the last time Notre Shame lost a game was to Florida State.
BCS Standings 2012: Complete Week 14 Rankings Released BY PATRICK CLARKE (FEATURED COLUMNIST) ON NOVEMBER 25, 2012 60,290 reads 413 Use your ← → (arrow) keys to browse more storiesNext Notre Dame's No. 1-ranked defense put a stranglehold on USC Saturday night in Los Angeles and in turn crushed the BCS National Championship hopes of a handful of contenders. The Fighting Irish survived the Trojans, 22-13, to finish the regular season undefeated for the first time since 1988. Behind them, the other top eight teams in action all won in Week 13, making for a much less chaotic weekend than the previous one. Alabama, Georgia, Florida and Oregon all blasted their rivals on Saturday. The Crimson Tide won 49-0 over Auburn in the Iron Bowl, the Bulldogs shellacked Georgia Tech 42-10, the Gators reeled off 24 fourth-quarter points to win 37-26 at Florida State, and the Ducks doubled up Oregon State on the road in the Civil War, 48-24. LSU, Stanford and Texas A&M round out Week 13's Top 8 winners. Week 13's result ...
Friday night UNC Tarheels vs Stanford 8pm at USD Toreros Stadium. Gonna be a tough game! Go Hels! hel yea! Winner will play the winner of Penn St vs. Florida State for National Championship on Sunday 1pm
is trying 2 tell y'all, that when it comes 2 College Football, the S.E.C. is the best & toughest conference.HANDS DOWN! The S.E.C. has 6 teams n the BCS Top 10! & the unfortunate part about it is that sum of those 6 teams might get left out of sum good BCS bowl games. Think about it, the winner of the Stanford/UCLA game will play the winner of the Nebraska/Wisconsin game n the Rose Bowl.& nobody wants 2 c that game.(LOL) Then winner of the Big East gets an automatic bid, & whoever that might b will probably get destroyed, & we just hope that Florida State beats GT so that we can avoid having a 7-6 team n the Orange Bowl. I just hope that the remaining S.E.C. teams left after the National Championship game is decided don't end up playing against each other n the bowl games cuz besides Florida St., Kansas St. & Oregon.who else out there can give us a good game against a S.E.C. team?
College Football was awesome today! -Florida-Florida State is finally the rivalry that it used to be and they both played an awesome game. Props to the Noles for a good game! -Gators are National Championship worthy, yet they most likely will not play in it. (Can't wait for playoffs) -Speaking of playoffs, an Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Oregon playoff would be SICK! -USC fought hard but let me and all of the Gator Nation down. -BYU should have started Lark 3 years ago. smh. -Notre Dame has an awesome defense (a ton of goal line stands against USC), but I don't think they will beat Alabama/Georgia. They have yet to go up against an SEC defense and I don't think their offense will be effective. So for 7 straight years the Nat'l Champ will be from the SEC. -And possibly 4 of the last 6 Heisman winners will be from the SEC (Johnny Football). -All in all, I LOVE College Football!!!
Well, there should not be much doubt about the disscussion of ACC vs SEC football. It is evident to me that if Clemson and Florida State(the class of the ACC without question) would be 7th or 8th place teams in the SEC. There is just not any comparison. To add salt to the wounds, Florida State and Clemson were playing at home. That Georgia Tech team that was clobbered by Georgia is playing for the ACC championship. Give App State, Wofford or Georgia Southern the additional 10-15 scholarships allowed for D 1(fbs...I think that is correct) schools and they would contend for the ACC championship yearly, particular in the coastal division. I would add that the FSU loss today will probably result in them leaving the ACC. If so, then one would have to be curious of what Clemson would do. I also agree that the National Championship game is really this coming weekend. Any other football teams in the country playing a SEC schedule would have 3 to 4 loses.
Never thought that I would say this, but I am rooting for Florida State today in their battle against Florida. Florida Still has this dream of playing for a National Championship this year, and I really don't know why. Unless beating up on Division II schools qualifies you to become "make believe" contenders. Sorry Gator fans, but beating Jacksonville State, and Florida International don't make you a contender.
Johnny Football will win the Heisman Trophy... Alabama will win our 15th National Championship... My College World Series ring from Florida State is in the mail and the Yankees open in 132 days... Life is GOOD for this guy!
CBS bowl game projections currently has Notre Dame facing Alabama in the BCS National Championship. LSU is projected to have a 2003 rematch with Oklahoma in the Sugar Bowl. Texas A&M is projected to face in state rival Texas in the Cotton Bowl. Louisiana Tech is projected to be in the Independence Bowl against Duke as the SEC does not have 10 bowl eligible teams this year. The bowl projections for the remaining BCS games are as follows: Rose Bowl - Nebraska vs Oregon Orange Bowl - Florida State vs Louisville Fiesta Bowl - Kansas State vs Stanford
I have one question..I know this could be premature, but the BCS projected top 5 has Kansas State ranked 5th... How is it that all I ever hear is how Florida State can't move up in the BCS from 10th, which they been for the past three weeks with people above them losing including 3 SEC teams with two losses but Kansa State can get throddled by 5-5 unranked Baylor and they only drop to 5th..Jimbo Fisher is right 4 team playoff isn't going to fix anything either until it is changed on who picks the top 4 teams...Computers having to dictate who plays in National Championship game...are you serious...who is the partial pompass *** that configured this bogas computer program?
The National Championship will be up in the air. ND will lose to USC. Bama going to lose to Auburn because Aurburn doesn't have anything to play for. Georgia going to lose to Alabama. Florida going to lose to Florida State. LSU going to beat Arkansas. K-State going to lose to Texas.
IF... Notre Dame loses to USC next weekend, and Florida beats Florida State, there is a possibility the we could have yet another ALL-SEC National Championship game! Starring the winner of the SEC and Florida.
Hmm...interesting... Florida State plays Virginia Tech on Thursday...Who they played in the 1999 National Championship game...Who were QB'd by Michael Vick...who plays for the Philadelphia Eagles... who are playing in the Superdome tonight... the same Superdome where the 1999 National Championship game was played... and Vick (the VT QB) was just intercepted by Robinson (FSU DB). Thank you for reading... I thought it was neat.
1987 National Championship team video that debuted at halftime of Miami's homecoming game vs. Florida State
As I look over the rest of the College Football season I come to a conclusion that Alabama will be in the National Championship game. The only team that stands in their way is LSU and if they can come out that game it’s a wrap. The second team is a little tricky. You have Oregon, Florida, Notre Dame and West Virginia. Florida is a no go they have to play South Carolina and Florida State and I don’t think they will win either game. Then you have Oregon who let’s face it, have a heck of a gauntlet to run by facing USC and Stanford. You have to think the pressure will get them one time or another. The last two I feel with the easiest road if you want to consider facing three ranked teams easy. They are West Virginia and Notre Dame. Between the two WVU has the best chance just because of the schedule. They have to face Kansas St. who is rank 6 and Oklahoma which is rank 13. While ND have three tough games in Stanford # 17, Oklahoma and USC in their way to the big game. The wild card in this is the Soone ...
Florida State way to blow that National Championship NC State "keeping Florida State out of the running one year at a time"
Bears win again, GB loses, only if Florida State would have won it would have been a great weekend. I will take 3 out of 4. I still have hopes of Alabama winning the National Championship again.
Another year of a weak ACC conference trying to say that they are competing for a National Championship and the team in the nation cant beat an unranked ACC opponent N.C. State. Florida State pretenders not contenders...once AGAIN. Go SEC conference
So Georgia, LSU, TCU and Florida State lost yesterday. Who in the *** is going to play Bama in the National Championship now? Notre Dame?
Well, folks it's time again for my BIG College Football PICKS. Ladies and gentlemen, we got some good ones on Saturday. First up we got Clemson v. Georgia Tech. At the Pickens County Moonshine Distillery, Dabo and his Country Cats are looking for some revenge after the ATL Honey Bees ruined the Tigers' National Championship hope last year. Tech's Rambling Wreck is a Wreck this year and look for Clemson to put up some points. Final score, Clemson 38 Georgia Tech 10. (I hope you are happy, John, Andra, Latoya and Chaun.) Next, we have Arkansas v. Auburn. After last week when the Hogs were Cured and Smoked by Texas A&M, They are looking to get a win on the plain. Well the Babybacks might as well keep looking. Final score, Auburn 26 Arkansas 13. Next, LSU v. FLORIDA. The Swamp will be electric. The Tigers are looking for a signature win there. This will be a tough one. LSU 17 Florida 16, Next, Florida State v. N.C. State. Jimbo and his Flaming Spear throwing Braves will be in Raleigh trying to track a pack of ...
In case anyone missed it!!! The Florida State Seminoles monkey Stomped top 10 Clemson's *** . I like how LSU barley squeaked by the non ranked Auburn Tigers. As I have been saying 2013 National Championship game will be Alabama vs. Florida State. :-)
Ok everyone is just so ready to hand Florida State the National Championship. I will believe the hype if they come out and whoop our butts tomorrow. They have played no one. Savanna St 120th in total offense 120th in total defense Murray St 92nd in total offense 116th in total defense Wake Forest 90th in total defense 113th in total offense They don't give you those stats when there already crowning them for the National Championship. Just sayin
Florida State should not be able to contend for a National Championship with that weak *** schedule! Only play 2 ranked teams all year!
Stephen A. Smith has Alabama winning the National Championship against either Florida State or Oklahoma.
who do you think has a better shot of making it to the National Championship: West Virginia or Florida State?
For those of you following along at home, the new Top 10 have been announced. 1. Alabama 2. LSU 3. Oregon 4. Florida State 5. Georgia 6. Oklahoma 7. South Carolina 8. West Virginia 9. Stanford 10. Clemson Virginia Tech (was 13) dropped out of the rankings entirely, and USC fell to (told y'all it was coming). So here's the question, ladies and gentlemen. Will the world allow another SEC National Championship game? Alabama and LSU are still the two best teams in football. Personally I think Oregon will jump LSU when Alabama beats them in November, and the Ducks will go on to fall against the mighty Tide. But who's to say? Roll Tide.
Norte Dame to the ACC in all sports except football, but will play 5 football games against the ACC. Great move, especially for the basketball teams. The men's team has been steady in the last couple years. The women's program has been to the National Championship two years in a row. Playing 5 games against ACC teams like Florida State, Miami, BC, Syracuse, and Clemson will be AWESOME! And still play USC, Stanford, Michigan State, Michigan what and incredible strength of schedule.
Kirk Herbstreit just picked Florida State to win the National Championship over USC... this *** tripping!
With the Honey Badger deal today, it made me think of an incident with Florida Statte several years ago. Back in the 90's.. I think.. maybe 2001 or 2002 or so.. Bobby Bowden was head coach at Florida State. They were good and were playing for the National Championship in the Sugar Bowl. Coach Bowden had great teams for several years but always came up a game short of winning it all so, this game was a HUGE game for him and Florida State. He had a good kicker named Sebastian Janakowski (I think that was the name) who was also kind of a free spirit. Janakowski broke a rule or something.. I think during December after the conclusion of the regular season but before the bowl game. Bowden was being interviewed on National tv and someone asked if Janakowski was going to play? Bowden said he was and that he would discipline him after the bowl game. The media guy pressed Bowden and Bowden said, "Look, I'm not going to cut my nose off to spite my face!" lol I liked and still like Coach Bowden.
So I just heard that someone picked Florida State to win the National Championship...if this happens I know 4 people who will enjoy this simply because they know how much pain and agony it would bring me.
Last night, I am at the first night of Care & Prevention (mandatory class for high school athletic coaches) and we're going around the room introducing ourselves… I am toward the end, and there is a tall African-American guy sitting by himself at the table to my left, and he goes right before me… "Hi, my name is Tommy Polley. I went to Florida State and won a National Championship. I got drafted by the Rams and played in a Super Bowl, then I came to the Ravens and led the team in tackles the year Ray Lewis got hurt. I'm engaged with three kids and I am coaching football at Aberdeen High School." Then, the Facilitator points to me to go next and I'm like, "How the *** do I follow that?!?" LOL
Holgy needs to be sitting on the Penn St quad today and get a defense to secure a National Championship showdown vs Florida State
Now that the College Football National Championship has been set lets see how many times they put the likes of USC, Norte Dame, Michigan, Ohio State, LSU, Alabama, Miami, Florida, Florida State, Texas and any other major in this 4 team deal. Sorry Boise State!
Phil Steele, the famed College Football prognosticator, has picked Florida State University to win the 2012-2013 BCS National Championship. His website hasn’t released all his final rankings yet, but his magazine is out at bookstores now...

Florida State and Oklahoma battle in a top five showdown this weekend. Should the loser be eliminated from the National Championship picture? Is that fair?
