the biggus dickus scene from Monty Python's Life of Brian, never seen it?
Have begun to read rather a good book about life in the 70s, the main point of the book being how grim it all was. I am enjoying the nostalgia but is it just that I was too superficial to know differently, as I thought it was a really good time to be a teenager. I know we had Camp Coffee, instant potato, Watneys Red Barrel and My Ding-A-Ling but we also had the two best football teams I have ever seen (Brazil 1970 and Holland in 1974), some of the greatest rugby players of any era (Barry John, Gareth Edwards, JPR), two of Dylan's (or anybody else's) all time great albums (Blood On The Tracks and Desire), Dark Side of the Moon, some of the best Stones' tracks (Angie, Tumblin Dice), Monty Python, Fawlty Towers and Felicity Kendall. The 60s was obviously a more exciting time but my old colleague Ian Marshall used to say that the problem with being a teenager then was that you thought you should be having more fun than you really were. As for the 80s, I remember one lad a but younger than me saying that, for ...
We did the show in Fergus, and from the audience reaction, it was great. March 8, 2008: Monty Python meets mammalian biology: The BBC reports that a castle in Doune, Scotland featured in the film "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" has become a field lab for studying migratory bats. Dear friends I ask for your help. Today's homeschool lunch conversation has brought us to an impasse of opinion. Which movie is more quotable. The Princess Bride, or Monty Python and The Holy Grail?

Great Wednesday Boot Camp. Do you remember the Monty Python where two funeral processions met as they were both headed for the same cemetery and it was believed that the first one buried in the cemetery went to heaven? Today two groups of four Boots ended up at the same exercise station and only four Boots can exercise there and we had 25 seconds to figure it out. As they argued, I thought, "How would John Cleese handle this?"
As a bit of an aside, we've been asked to share this with you: The Melbourne *** Film Festival is on from the 14th-24th of March, and amongst this year’s program is "A Liar's Autobiography - The Untrue Story of Monty Python's Graham Chapman in 3D." And now for something completely different! That catchphrase from Monty Python’s Flying Circus works perfectly for the MQFF’s very first 3D session and is also the overriding philosophy behind the late Graham Chapman’s autobiographical film. Completely anarchic, revealing and as expected very funny, these series of sketches executed in 15 different animation styles, attempt to tell the life story of Chapman - comedian, actor, rugby fan, pipe smoker, alcoholic and *** man (or 70% *** as his self-conducted survey revealed), amongst other things Based on Chapman’s famous false memoir A Liar's Autobiography (Volume VI), the 3D film version is a chaotic and often hilarious ride through Chapman’s version of his life well lived before dying of lunch canc . ...

Thank god Monty Python's Spanish Inquisition had only figured out part of the torture equation
"AND NOW," as they used to say on Monty Python, "IT IS TIME FOR SOMETHING TOTALLY DIFFERENT!" Puns for the educated... Still... mostly groaners! 1. King Ozymandias of Assyria was running low on cash after years of war with the Hittites. His last great possession was the Star of the Euphrates, the most valuable diamond in the ancient world. Desperate, he went to Croesus, the pawnbroker, to ask for a loan. Croesus said, "I'll give you 100,000 dinars for it." "But I paid a million dinars for it," the King protested. "Don't you know who I am? I am the king!" Croesus replied, "When you wish to pawn a Star, makes no difference who you are." - 2. Evidence has been found that William Tell and his family were avid bowlers. Unfortunately, all the Swiss League records were destroyed in a fire, and so we'll never know for whom the Tells bowled. - 3. A man rushed into a busy doctor's surgery and shouted, "Doctor! I think I'm shrinking!" The doctor calmly responded, "Now, settle down. You'll just have to be a li ...

Lesson number one: Do NOT run out of Dry Cat food the night before because god knows they begin whittling away to skin and bones while starving to death right before your very eyes. Trust me on this. Caco has been relentless. Lesson number two: Always remember when starving your Cat (i.e. not having a full food bowl at all times), said Cat will make you pay dearly for this. For example. I was sound asleep (which is a rarity) when I heard the LOUDEST HORKING NOISE in my life thus causing me to jump out of bed, which is not an easy feat for me since I can barely walk, run through said house chasing said Caco, as he makes LOUD HORKING NOISES, praying like *** I catch him before HORKING SESSION explodes. After finally looking like Monty Python stumbling through the woods, I catch said CACO, who amazingly enough has ENOUGH STRENGTH to RUN, throw him outside, my heart is ready to explode from pure adrenaline. I look to him outside and I swear to you he looked back with an evil grin and said, "that'll teach you ...

Seriously guys, we're watching Monty Python in Van Zant's class
I just watched a film called 'Holy Flying Circus.' It's about the events following the release of Monty Python's 'Life of Brian' in Britain culminating in the now infamous "debate" in which John Cleese and Michael Palin attempted to explain the film, but the Christian Right chose simply to scold them for being naughty schoolboys making jokes at the back of the class. Still, despite all this negative publicity, 'Life of Brian' was a tremendous success and is now regarded as a classic. By that same token, despite centuries of bad press, the Catholic Church remains the single most successful multinational corporation on Earth. That proves something, but I'm not sure what.
Humor To Go! (My mind went straight to the scene where King Arthur outwits the Bridgekeeper in Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Anyone else?)
So I score 28 albums on the internet and I go pick them up, not sure of the titles I'm getting. It's a mix of music and comedy albums. When I get them I find a Wayne and Shuster, Col Elliott, Austen Tayshus and a couple of Bob Newhart albums, then I get to two Monty Python albums and a George Carlin live LP from 1972!! Musically I get an Amy Grant album, Seseme Street Fever and a War Movie music hits then find Stevie Nicks Bella Donna, War Of The Worlds ( with the inner book in mint condition!) a couple of Clannard, an Enya, Best of Warren Zevon ( yes it has Werewolves on it ) Peter Gabriel and a double Judas Priest.not to mention Phantom of the Opera, U2 and Poison. Not bad for free lol

You take a cruise so you can go on a personal tour of the engine room. In college, you thought Spring Break was metal fatigue failure. The salespeople at the local computer store can't answer any of your questions. At an air show, you know how fast the skydivers are falling. You can quote scenes from any Monty Python movie. You can type 70 words per minute but you can't read your own handwriting. You sit backwards on Disney rides so you can see how they do the special effects. You have saved every power cord from all your broken appliances. You know what http:// stands for. You look forward to Christmas so you can put together the kids' toys. You see a good design, and have to change it. You spent more on your calculator than you did on your wedding ring. You think that people yawning around you are sleep deprived. You window shop at Radio Shack. You've already calculated how much you make per second. You've tried to repair a $5 radio.
With Shane and the girls at Wagner Noel performing Arts Center watching Monty Python's Spamalot.
What is up with Groundhog Day? I thought it was a decent flick; the movie industry talks about it as if it were "The Godfather" of comedies. My Godfather of Comedies is Monty Python's Holy Grail, but I am a bit of a niche customer.
I notice that on FB serious topics get little attention, so trying to focus on the (not so ) trivial..lunchtime conversation in the family was top 5 comedy acts/shows (now don't get pretentious and say Monty Python, we all know only about 10% was actually funny) Mine are; 1) The Two Ronnies 2) Ali G 3) Ross Noble 4) Dads Army 5) Rod Hull and Emu also rans are Jack Dee Al Murray Tommy Cooper Laurel and Hardy NOTE all but last are English and so was Stan Laurel! Music comedy, complaining and world domination..UK still top!
My friend Keith Olson got to the bottom of the Vets being deemed incompetent. He just returned from some meetings in DC. He is a Veterans Service Officer working for the state of Montana. He says the following: Okay, so I've been in D.C. and I have tried to respond to the reports of the letters that veterans have been receiving concerning gun ownership. This has been the case for years. Moreover, this whole "controversy" just does not "smell right", maybe I need to add another layer to my tinfoil hat, but pretty soon I'm going to have a helmet like the Black Knight from the Monty Python and the Holy Grail. It would not surprise me to learn that this is a "plant" from the Left Wing Red Diaper Doper Babies, knowing that true freedom loving people would grab a hold of this and it would spread like wildfire. Anyhoo, this is my $.02 on the subject. I hate to break it to you, but these letters have been around for years. Normally it deals with a Veteran/Widow that is receiving some sort of money from the VA (Co ...
Ben Fogle: I acted out Monty Python sketches and tried to jump out of a window while on an accidental LSD trip
Watched some of Monty Python's "the meaning of life" on Netflix with some friends. It was glorious.
It would be remiss of me not to note the passing last week of the Reverend Canaan Banana, and not just because he has a funny name. It is, of course, deplorable to make cheap gags about a fellow because of his handle (I seem to remember a Monty Python thing from years ago announcing that “Mr Arthur…
Although might be silly walk to receive 'em, should Monty Python team be on Birthday Honours list? It's Chinese Year of Python?
Come along a tribute to the best of British. Everything from music of The Beatles and Queen to the comedy of Monty Python and Rowan Atkinson... Let Me Entertain You as I impersonate Robbie Williams and pay special tribute to the worlds most successful stage show 'The Phantom of the Opera'.
Cassandra and I finished the night with Monty Python and the Holy Grail and The Big Lebowski. Quality entertainment!
The other day, Alex was a bit tired of the Harry Potter movies, and was sorting through one of my boxes of DVDs. And pulled out "Monty Python Live", which he proceeded to watch, over & over, for the next 24 hours or so. It has 2 parts, "Live at the Hollywood Bowl" circa 1982, and a special interview from the late 90s hosted by Robert Klein. From scenes in the latter, Alex asked if I have "the movie with the Black Knight", which - of course - I do. So he spent the rest of the day watching Monty Python & the Holy Grail, which he now loves. I'm a very proud father. ;)

Monty Python courtesy of suggestion from Mr. Brian Thompson (Opening Scene : A sitting room straight out of Lawrence. Mum, wiping her hands on her apron is ushering in a young man in a suit. They are a Northern couple.) Mum (Terry Jones): Oh dad, look who's come to see us. It's our Ken. Dad (Graham Chapman): (without looking up) Aye, and about bloody time if you ask me. Ken (Eric Idle): Aren't you pleased to see me, father? Mum: (squeezing his arm reassuringly) Of course he's pleased to see you, Ken, he... Dad: All right, woman, all right I've got a tongue in my head - I'll do 'talkin'. (looks at Ken distastefully) Aye... I like yer fancy suit. Is that what they're wearing up in Yorkshire now? Ken: It's just an ordinary suit, father. It's all I've got apart from the overalls. (Dad turns away with an expression of scornful disgust.) Mum: How are you liking it down the mine, Ken? Ken: Oh it's not too bad mum, we're using some new tungsten carbide drills for the preliminary coal-face scouring operations. Mum ...
Here's this art writer's advice for this weekend: Run, don't walk, to catch either "Twelfth Night" or "Taming of the Shrew" at the U-Mich Power Center. The two are staged by the all-male British ensemble Propeller. In the case of "Shrew," which I saw last night, they delivered a galloping farce full of Monty Python-esque hijinks that was also far darker than most interpretations on the subject of torturing your wife into abject submission. An astonishingly inventive performance. A feast for the eyes and ears. (Music! Lots of it.) Exhilarating. Elbow people out of the way if necessary to get your tickets.
Poni_Boy here's a few more Blazing Saddles, Clue, Monty Python and the Search for the Holy Grail,r9P
Am I the only one that thinks the grandest comedy on the planet came from Britain, mainly encompassed in Rowan Atkinson, and Monty Python? ~Sphinx
Piety, 'gunmen,' reportage, consistency, and wikipedia. I've long not liked where piety gets in the way of reporting -- consider Joyce's comments in 'A Painful Case,' 'The Dubliners' regarding a journalist who had been co-opted to suppress details over a probable suicide. So, it's often referred to with the Ecole Polytechnique that it was perpetrated by a pretentiously anonymized 'gunman'...'Monty Python' as to ''the Scottish play'...'you mean 'Macbeth?'' You mean Lepine? I was reading on wikipedia about Robertson Davies, and then John Irving. (Perhaps, what with my recent joke made about John Grisham, ambulance-chaser (?)...(cousin) Bill Clinton, skirt.?)...I then took notice of a mention of a woman named 'Amy Bishop' -- as related to John Irving. I typed her name into 'wikipedia.' It scrolls to the middle of an article. The header of the article though is on an infamous deed she's associated with. She has no independent existence as per the treatment. For-the-record, it's not the case that, with Ma ...
Watching a 007 movie and John Cleese (from Monty Python of course) is in it. He has the same wit!! Hasn't changed!!

Monty Python should be a required subject in school, part of every child's basic education.
So I was watching "Yellowbeard" last night - for those of you not familiar . It's a pirate story starring Graham Chapman (from Monty Python) - and in one of the cabin scenes the British captain has one of his mates bring in Yellowbeard's wife . and the shipmate is . none other than David Bowie. Also co-starring John Cleese, Eric Idle, Cheech & Chong, Marty Feldman, Madelin Kahn, and Peter Boyle.
This is not an intended chain email... however, I felt that it was too well written and too important a statement to go unread. This is copied from the Center For Catholic Jewish Studies at Saint Leo. And like the second paragraph indicates, we, including myself, have laughed at the Saturday Night Live skits, and more importantly at performances of Monty Python, this skit pushed the limit of decency too far! Just my two cents... The Innocence of Christians "Saturday Night Live," the NBC comedy show that is nearing its fourth decade as one of this nation's iconic television programs, has created thousands of sketches, many of them parodies of real world events and personalities. We have all laughed at the often outrageous representations and treated them as part of the genius that has defined "Saturday Night Live" for generations. But last Saturday evening, on February 16, 2013, the fourth day of Lent, during the 40 days of Christian preparation for Easter, "Saturday Night Live" crossed a line that sep ...
So in that Monty Python reference Chris is meant to be the coconut clacker and Tony Abbott his knight in shining armour??
The British comedian Graham Chapman delighted in offending people. As a writer and actor with the legendary Monty Python troupe, he often pushed the boundaries of propriety and good taste.
my parents kinda remind me of the king on Monty Python whose castle kept falling over and sinking in the swamp hopefully the next one stays up, all that matters is that they are ok
When I die, there won't be a memorial. It will be a roast. Michael Sullivan will be the MC, Eric Keen will zombie smash anyone who cries, Martin Felshman will cater it, and it will close out with a gag reel of my life set to Monty Python's rendition of "Always Look On the Bright Side of Life".
This is it. GARTH's DARKPLACE. 24 minutes of awe construction. One of those things you're always looking for. No, not you that fear the familiar and are terrified of the mundane. This is for you that constantly seek that strange bookstore and underground movie, that weird gem, that League of Gentlemen, Monty Python, Kids In the Hall, Rocky Horror-- all BEFORE they seemed ordinary. Add a dash of Dark Shadows, Night Gallery, Tales of the Crypt... but present it like the Larry Sanders Show, nothing over the top or ha-ha-I'm-funny. I really like this. And it was found by extremely rare accident. So you KNOW it's special.
5 Comedies I Love 1. Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (One of my favorite British films, Def. my favorite Guy Ritchie film. It’s unique, fresh and hilarious.) 2. The Full Monty (Every time I watch this movie I can still hear my Mom dying with laughter and in turn it makes me laugh harder at it.) 3.Monty Python and The Holy Grail (The Holy Grail of comedies in my book.) 4. The Princess Bride (It’s a classic. I love this film so much and it isn’t even a great film. To me it’s a perfect film because it took the high road where absurdity hides.) 5. Raising Arizona (One of my favorite comedies. There is a scene where Nicholas Cage raises both his fists to attack John Goodman in his trailer home and he scrapes his knuckles on the particle celling. This scene slays me and my brother every single freaking time.)
Just to be sure you understand that RT: Eric Idle of Monty Python & Noel Fielding of The Mighty Boosh had tea together.
I need a Mel Brooks and Monty Python marathon in my life.
You're not dead yet! Live it up at Roger Rocka's Dinner Theater this Sunday. We’ve got great seats still available for Good Company Players' production of Monty Python's Spamalot. Click here for Brunch and Show: here for Show Only:
...In a very politically incorrect nature. Sort of Monty Python-esque. You know, "Kill your son for me, Abraham... PSYCH, lols."
Are you a huge Monty Python fan? Check out Nerdlocker's review of the Graham Chapman autobiography!
Warning! Warning! Warning! (See my initial post. It's Friday night, so beware.) I told you I might just turn this into a blog, so now I am a movie critic. I just watched "Seven Psychopaths." My wife abandoned me after 30 minutes but I pressed on. Great movie! But you must like gratuitous violence, quirkiness, irony, and black humor. Luckily, those are my favorites. It's like Tarantino does "Adaptation" based on a screenplay by Joe Orton with input from Monty Python. Great performances! Just keep looking at Colin Farrell's expressions. Have a nice weekend.
Brace yourselves: Monty Python references are coming. ~Turtles
A whole lotta Neil Innes: lyrics, audio, tour dates, pictures & info on Neil Innes of the Rutles, Bonzo Dog Band, Monty Python and his own solo stuff too many people don't know about.
As much as I would like to be one of the cool kids and be in love with Downton Abbey I have to confess.it looks like the biggest snooze in the world to me! I think the main problem is I cannot STAND shows or movies where everyone speaks with Britsh accents. I have no idea why but it makes my skin crawl. Now, if its a show and one character has the accent, it's not a problem for me. One hot actor with the accent? Yum. But all of them?? No way. Explains why I can't stand Monty Python. When Absolutely Fabulous was new - I tried - if those gals spoke with a Georgia accent or even a Jersey accent - it would be exactly my cup of tea. Just another of my weird quirks.
