Jonathan, Tambuwal disagree on polls’ credibility By: Joseph Jibueze, Goodluck Jonathan and House of Representatives Speaker Aminu Tambuwal yesterday disagreed on the credibility of recent governorship elections. To Tambuwal, the polls were more like those conducted by the military regimes and were not free, fair and credible. The Speaker said the elections had been characterised by intimidation, which is undemocratic, causing apprehension among voters. But President Jonathan insisted that the elections in Ondo, Anambra, Ekiti and Osun were not only credible, but demonstrated that electoral reforms were working. They spoke at the opening ceremony of the 54th Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) in Owerri, the Imo State capital, with the theme: “Nigeria, a hundred years after”. Jonathan, represented by the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mohammed Bello Adoke (SAN), said the government focused on the reform of the country’s electoral processes t ...
FG Withdraws Charges Against Abacha The Federal Government yesterday withdrew the criminal charge its filed against Mohammed Abacha, son of the late General Sani Abacha. The Government announced its decision to withdraw the charge during yesterday's proceedings before Justice Mamman Kolo of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Wuse Zone 2 Abuja. The Fed Govt had through a private lawyer, Daniel Enwelum, filed the charge of nine counts against Mohammed, accusing him of “dishonestly receiving stolen property” and “voluntarily assisted in concealing money," belonging to the state and estimated at N446.3billion. Efforts by the government to arraign Abacha on the charge was unsuccessful as he failed to attend court on two occasions when the case was earlier mentioned. Yesterday, Abacha was in court. He mounted the dock when the case was called, shortly after which Enwelum informed the court about the directive he got from the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF),Mohammed Bello Ad ...

Northern govs stealing their people's money -Aso Rock not birthright of the North -APC is an expired drug Foremost Ijaw leader and President Goodluck Jon athan's kinsman, Chief Edwin Kiagbodo Clark has descended heavily on the North and its governors accus ing them of stealing their states blind. For the North, Clark said the region has to heal itself of the mentality that Aso Rock presi dential villa is its birthright. He said at his age he would say the truth no matter whose ox is gored. Mohammed Bello Adoke, Hon Attorney- General of the Federation to give keynote speech on Terrorism Law in Nigeria, 14 June, London
THE VERDICT By OLUSEGUN ADENIYI; olusegun.adeniyia recent conversation on the Boko Haram menace with a friend, an Ijaw man who is close to the current administration, I was taken aback when he suddenly blurted: “Honestly, the problem oga (President Goodluck Jonathan) has is his Attorney General. I don’t know how a president can surround himself with people who do not mean well for him.” Surprised by such a remark that I imagined was probably borne out of a personal grudge against the Justice Minister, Mr. Mohammed Bello Adoke (SAN), I decided to be sarcastic: “You mean Adoke has also joined APC (the opposition All Progressive Party) or is he now one of the people funding Boko Haram?” His response was even more shocking: “Who knows? For all you care Adoke could be both an APC member and a Boko Haram sponsor; afterall, what is the difference between the two?” When we got to discussion, my friend gave me the full detail of what transpired at a recent Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting when ...
State Of Emergency: Jonathan Ill-Advised – Clark — June 4, 2014 Elder statesman and Ijaw leader, Chief Edwin Clark has said that the minister of justice and Attorney General of the federation, Mohammed Bello Adoke (SAN), failed in his responsibility to give appropriate advice to President Goodluck Jonathan on the declaration of the state of emergency in the three North-eastern states of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe. While addressing the media in Abuja yesterday, Chief Clark said that Adoke should have advised the president to suspend democratic structures in the states when state of emergency was declared in the states. Clark cited the submission from some quarters that the president lacks power to order a full scale state of emergency based on a Supreme Court judgement in a suit filed by a former governor of Plateau State, Senator Joshua Dariye that the constitution did not give the Federal Government such power to suspend democratic structures in any state where state of emergency is declared. He submitt ...
How 45 Directors At The Ministry of Foreign Affairs Colluded With Nigeria’s Attorney General And Minister To Reverse Their Retirement Some 45 directors at the federal ministry of foreign affairs have colluded with the highly corrupt Attorney General of the federation, Mohammed Bello Adoke and the supervising minister of foreign affairs, Professor Viola Onwuliri to frustrate their retirement from plum foreign ambassadorial positions in a situation that may yet redefine retirement of federal civil servants in Nigeria. The AGF interfered in their retirement after receiving hefty sums of bribe money from the career civil servants. AGF Adoke, who is one of the most remarkably corrupt ministers in the cabinet of President Goodluck Jonathan, issued a memo to the president requesting that 45 directors who are currently acting as ambassadors in several foreign missions who had earlier retired in December 2013 after completing an 8 year tenure be recalled to continue as directors. The directors had been asked to ...

Judiciary workers begin strike today Moses John | Mar 11, 2013 | 0 comments Mohammed Bello Adoke,Minister of Justice Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) has directed all its members in federal courts across Nigeria to stay at home from today following the Federal Government’s failure to issue a circular for the implementation of Consolidated Judicial Salary Structure (CONJUSS). A 21-day ultimatum issued by the union had since elapsed without any feedback from the government despite several correspondence between the two sides. The National President of JUSUN, Comrade Marwan Mustapha Adamu, lamented to Blueprint that government is merely paying lip service to the question of industrial harmony in the justice sector. He said the workers had resolved to “fight to the finish” this time around because their demand for a document from the National Salaries, Income and Wages Commission for the implementation of CONJUSS “has been foot-dragging since 2009.” Adamu added, “We don’t want federal go ...

Ex-convict! **Is it not clear now that, President Jonathan isn't interested in fighting CORRUPTION. This is another reason to reject Goodluck & PDP in 2015.14 years of CORRUPTION is more than ENOUGH! He doesn't want to fight INSECURITY! He doesn't want to fight UNEMPLOYMENT! He doesn't want to fight CORRUPTION! But he desperately wants to hold onto POWER in 2015! Prince Rasak Sunday, 27 May 2012 Nigeria's Attorney General Adoke Lies, Misleads Nigerians In Reaction To N155billion Malabu Oil Block Scandal-PREMIUM TIMES AGF Mohammed Bello Adoke After days of keeping mum and in an effort to cover-up the scam and absolve itself of any complicity, the Federal Government, through the Attorney General of the Federation, Mohammed Adoke, Sunday claimed that it only played the role of “facilitator of the resolution of a long standing dispute,” in the N155billion oil block scandal involving it, two multinational companies, and Malabu Oil, largely owned by former petroleum minister, Dan Etete.
