Lionel Hollins hired as New Jersey Nets head coach. Jason Kidd hired as Milwaukee Bucks head coach. Meanwhile the Los Angeles Lakers have legend Byron Scott on pause.
On Tuesday I return to work at my volunteer job at the Closter Borough Hall. Tomorrow is the first day of July. Tomorrow afternoon the United States World Cup Soccer Team faces off against Belgium in the Knockout Round. It is a win or go home match. After reaching a deal to let Jason Kidd become the coach of the Milwaukee Bucks, the Brooklyn Nets have set up a meeting with their top candidate Lionel Hollins. Hollins has emerged as the Nets focus in what could turn out to be a brief coaching search, sources said. He will meet with Nets officials in New York within the next 24-48 hours, sources said. Hollins had been a strong consideration for the Nets when Kidd had gotten off to a sluggish start to the season and there was discussion about replacing Kidd in late December, sources said. Hollins brings a strong playoff, disciplinary and defensive track record from his five years as the Memphis Grizzlies coach. Hollins has interviewed for the Los Angeles Lakers coaching vacancy and is still considered a final ...
Throwback jersey of the night: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar 1974 Milwaukee Bucks tank top. Yes kids, Kareem played for Milwaukee and even won the 1971 NBA Championship with them before he was traded and won 5 championships with Magic Johnson the Los Angeles Lakers.
more like the wrong guys to have traded... but who is to say the chemistry with that team would have worked...? History has shown us that in some trades, one of the two parties can be greatly benefited while the other party will be a big loser. We’ve seen several such deals in the history of the NBA. Let’s break down which are the Worst 10 trades in the history of the league. No.1: Charlotte Hornets trade Kobe Bryant to the Los Angeles Lakers Some trades are meant to change the entire history of a franchise. The Hornets received Vlade Divac, who was a solid starter at that time. But Kobe turned out to be the next big thing in the NBA. A definite loss for Charlotte. No.2: Milwaukee Bucks trade Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Yet another time the Los Angeles Lakers were the big winners of a trade. This time it was Kareem Abdul-Jabbar who came to LA to change the course of the franchise. The Lakers gave away Dave Meyers, Junior Bridgeman, Brian Winters and Elmore Smith but they never were able to meet the expectati ...

On January 9, 1972, 24-year-old Kareem Abdul-Jabbar leads the Milwaukee Bucks in a 120-104 victory over Wilt Chamberlain and the Los Angeles Lakers, breaking the Lakers’ record 33-game winning streak, the longest of any team in American professional sports. Coached by former Boston Celtics star Bill Sharman and led by future Hall of Famers Wilt Chamberlain, Jerry West and Gail Goodrich, the 1971-72 Lakers began their historic run of victories on November 5, 1971 when they beat the Baltimore Bullets in Baltimore, 110-106. They set a new NBA record with their 21st win on December 11, beating the Atlanta Hawks 104-95 and surpassing the 20-game winning streak the Bucks had put together the previous year. The defending National Basketball Association (NBA) champion Bucks got their revenge on January 9, when a keyed-up Abdul-Jabbar scored 39 points, outplaying Chamberlain (15 points) with more rebounds (20 vs. 12), blocked shots (10 vs. 6) and assists (5 vs. 2). Abdul-Jabbar’s dominance, combined with a "ge ...

NBA Lakers Assistant is New Bobcats Head Coach Associated Press CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Charlotte Bobcats have hired Los Angeles Lakers assistant Steve Clifford to become their new coach. Two people familiar with the situation said Clifford had agreed to a three-year contact. They spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the announcement has not been made public. Clifford replaces Mike Dunlap, who was fired after going 21-61 in his only season as coach. Clifford has worked as an assistant in New York, Houston, Orlando and Los Angeles, but has never been a head coach at the NBA level. He has worked under both Jeff and Stan Van Gundy. He becomes the sixth coach of the Bobcats since 2006-07. Out of the blue got a call from a Los Angeles radio staton wanting to talk about the history of Canadian hoops in realtionship to NBA. Every so often various media outlets contact me for such as yours truly is considered a Canadian basketball historian and have written on such for the NBA over the many years. They caught me off guard with one question though, asking to name the current eight Canadians ready to suit up in opening night action tonight in NBA. Forgot one of the eight listed here: Joel Anthony, Miami Heat; Samuel Dalembert, Milwaukee Bucks; Cory Joseph, San Antonio Spurs; Kris Joseph, Boston Celtics; Steve Nash, Los Angeles Lakers; Andrew Nicholson, Orlando Magic; Robert Sacre, Los Angeles Lakers; Tristan Thompson, Cleveland Cavaliers But a quick question. The game has not happened yet so is it part of history? So in that I forgot, I never really knew yet as it did not happen?
The former New Jersey Nets and Milwaukee Bucks small forward has signed onto a training camp spot on the Lakers roster.
Just a little Monday trivia info that I didn't know (I love trivia.could be the answer to a million dollar question some day...well, probably not but I love learning new stuff!! LOL) The biggest armadillo has such a mundane name. The Giant Armadillo is over 3 feet long without the tail, and can weigh up to 132 pounds. Sadly, this is another endangered animal, as it can damage crops, and half of the population has been lost in the last 10 years. Alcindor played for the Bruins from 1967-1969. He officially changed his name to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar on May 1, 1971. In the NBA, he played for the Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Lakers. He made his jersey number 33 famous.
Jodie Meeks had larger offers from the Washington Wizards and Milwaukee Bucks, but signed with the Los Angeles Lakers to compete for title.
