On February 15, 2013, Agents from the Washington County Major Crimes Task Force arrested four individuals involved or assisting in a Heroin distribution ring operating from a motel room in the 700 Block of Pike Street in Marietta.  Agents executed a search warrant at this location after receiving information Michael Von Richards, age 35, 1365 McGill Road, Vincent, Oh was there and selling heroin.  Richards had previously been arrested by Agents on 1/29/2013 for a Felony 3 Possession of Heroin after they executed a search warrant at 1110 Moody Ridge Road, Vincent, OH.  Richards had been released at that time on a Personal Recognizance bond.    While Agents were in the room, Samantha C. Lemon, age 31, 508 Sixth Street, Marietta, OH an employee of the motel arrived and indicated she had been asked by Abby Roach, girlfriend of Michael Richards, to go to this room and remove all drug paraphernalia they had left behind.  Lemon advised that Shawn Gill and Mike Richards had rented the room for the past week ...

After a first round bye, Wesleyan tore open Rhode Island College with a 35-7 victory and then reaffirmed Wesleyan’s status as the top dog among NESCAC schools by beating Williams College 24-12. In the final’s, Wesleyan squared off against Springfield College and the Sunday night fight came down to the last match. Today is the 28th of January...for me, it is a marker...my mother's birthday...had she lived longer than her 87 years she would be 100 today. But even more for me this day is another marker of sorts. 27 years ago the shuttle Challenger exploded, leaving a big whole in our space program, leaving families in despair and friends faced with an empty space in their friend book. Update on Mike (Dad) Had a good day with him. Doctor said he is doing better. Respitory said no more vent cause he is doing good breathing on his own, and they put the talk vale on him and he could talk to me for an half hour. Lung doctor said hopefully tomorrow they can take his trach down a size so he can learn how to eat again. And he starts physical and occupational therapy tomorrow at 11:30. Such a blessing to hear his voice again. He said to tell everyone to love one another every day cause you never know when you will speak your last words... Gotta love him!

Elvira “Vi” E. Walior Elvira “Vi” E. Walior, 85, Hibbing, passed away Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, surrounded by her family, in the Fairview Range Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born June 13, 1927 in Nashwauk, the daughter of Jacob and Mary Specht. Vi worked at the Hibbing General Hospital as a nurse’s aide on the pediatrics floor and other various positions at the hospital in her 30 year career. When the hospital changed locations and became the University Medical Center-Mesabi, Vi worked in the purchasing dept., until her retirement in the 1980’s.
