Washington (CNN) -- Republican Ted Cruz of Texas was still on the Senate floor talking Wednesday-- a dramatic step in defense of his high profile and controversial plan to prevent any funding for Obamacare. "I intend to speak in support of defunding Obamacare until I am no longer able to stand," he said Tuesday. "All across this country, Americans are suffering because of Obamacare. Obamacare isn't working." Cruz, who began speaking shortly after 2:40 p.m. ET Tuesday, was alone for nearly an hour before being joined by Sen. Mike Lee, a Utah Republican. The Tea Party allies engaged in an extended dialogue that was part stamina test for Cruz and part political theater for the rest of Capitol Hill. Cruz was later briefly joined by other Republican senators, Rand Paul of Kentucky, another Tea Party favorite, David Vitter of Louisiana, and Sen. Marco Rubio spoke as well. Sen. Washington • Sen. Mike Lee reached out to an HBO executive this week after an episode of the new hit show "The Newsroom" portrayed the Utah Republican as an extremist hellbent on tossing out a constitutional amendment.
Sen. Mike Lee predicted that the Supreme Court will strike down the individual mandate in President Barack Obama’s health care law. “This is something that for most Americans, offends their basic sense of freedom and this is not something they want,” the Utah Republican said Thursday morning on CNN’s “Starting Point.” Okay. get this through your thick skulls, people. If SCOTUS strikes down Obamacare, it's not going to have anything to do with how popular it is or how much people like it. SCOTUS doesn't allow/disallow stuff based on how awesome it is. They allow stuff that *** and they kill stuff that's great, because of whether or not it's Constitutional. THAT'S IT.
The goal of every Utah Republican should be preventing Tea Party *** wipe Mike Lee from seeking another term.
