NHL - Maple Leafs exercised compliance buyout on D Mike Komisarek (1 year left on his 5-year, $22.5 million contract)
The Toronto Maple Leafs had a great season as they surprised many by making the playoffs for the first time in nine years. Not only that, but they took the Boston Bruins to seven games in the first round. So with that, it’s time to move on and focus on the off-season as the Leafs will have the opportunity to gain more cap space by using one or both of their compliance buyouts. Depending on who you believe, the biggest Roberto Luongo trade rumour that swirled across the country came out of Toronto last summer, where the Maple Leafs were rumoured to have offered a package of young players that included Nazem Kadri and Tyler Bozak heading to the Canucks for the services of Luongo. The proposed offer was also rumoured to have included a bad contract (ie.Mike Komisarek) or a draft pick heading back to Van-City, but that’s neither here nor there. The keys to the deal for Toronto were . ...
