THIS IS ONE FIGHT YOU CANNOT AFFORD TO MISS OUT ON! Floyd Mayweather’s potential mega-fight with Manny Pacquiao could take place in the Middle East. Reports have claimed that a group of investors in the United Arab Emirates have put around £70million up to help facilitate hosting the fight in Dubai. Mayweather and Pacquiao are currently searching for their next opponents, with both fighters expected to return to the ring in 2015. A deal that would have set up a match between the two men in 2010 fell through over concerns regarding division of the fight’s purse and pre-fight drug testing. Pacquiao addressed the possibility of a 2015 match after his victory over Algieri on Nov. 22. “The people deserve that fight. It’s time to make that fight happen. It’s been a long time. I want that fight. They’re always denying the fight. I think the fight has to happen,” he said, according to ESPN. “We’re tired. Everywhere we go they ask when is it going to happen? When are they going to fight?” adde ...
Even a spade will call a spade a spade, but in the Politically Correct States of America, don’t you dare call a spade a spade. It’s a… (well, we can’t use the word black)… so it’s a… (and we can’t say ‘pointy thing’ for someone might feel threatened)… well, we’ll call it a civic organization. The Council on American-Islamic Relations, also known as C.A.I.R. as well as the Muslim American Society (M.A.S.) were both labelled by the United Arab Emirates this week as ‘terrorist organizations.’ That’s right! The Arabic state of U.E.A. directly located in the Middle East, has labelled these two U.S. homegrown “civic groups” as terrorist groups, putting them on the same list with the likes of Al Qaeda and the Islamic State (I.S.). The question the U.S. State Department has is why? Let us look at ten key points, historical facts if you will, about C.A.I.R. and we’ll answer that question, giving us all, from this point forward, permission to call this spade a spade: 1.CAIR was c ...

Qatar's Ties to Terror Groups Worry US Saturday, 11 Oct 2014 01:40 PM By Sandy Fitzgerald Qatar's continued ties with some of the most powerful Islamist groups in the Middle East could cause serious difficulties for the Obama administration's international coalition to fight the Islamic State (ISIS), U.S. and Arab officials believe. The wealthy nation has links with Nusra Front, which is the main Al Qaeda affiliate in Syria, reports The Wall Street Journal, in addition to Hamas and the Taliban, and diplomats from Washington's closest Arab allies say Qatar is publicly supporting U.S. policies while still aiding its enemies. Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Jordan have all been pushing Washington to reprimand Qatar over the relationships, but the country is considered a vital part of anti-ISIS efforts. Its al-Udeid Air Base is being used to launch airstrikes on ISIS targets in Syria and Iraq, and the country is one of five that are formally taking part in the coalition against the militants. Australia to send 600 troops to UAE to combat IS Australia says it is sending 600 troops to the Middle East ahead of possible combat operations against Islamic State (IS) militants in Iraq. Prime Minister Tony Abbott said the deployment, initially to the United Arab Emirates, was in response to a specific US request. Nearly 40 countries, including 10 Arab states, have signed up to a US-led plan to tackle the extremist group. France is hosting a regional security summit on Monday. US Secretary of State John Kerry arrived in Paris late on Saturday after a four-day tour of the Middle East trying to drum up support for action against IS. Last week, US President Barack Obama presented a strategy to fight the group in both Iraq and Syria. Speaking on Sunday, Prime Minister Abbott said Iraq had made it clear that it would “very much welcome” a military contribution to restore security. He said the force, which will also include up to eight Super Hornet fighter jets, was part of “an international coalition ...

. Gaza Attack ; A Joint Arab-Israeli War On Palestine : CNN A major US media network has emphasized in a news analysis that the brutal Zionist onslaught on the besieged Gaza Strip is a "joint Arab- Israeli war against the Palestinians.” Quoting a veteran reporter and analyst of Middle East events, Ali Younes, CNN further described the Israeli war on the Palestinian territory as “unprecedented in the history of the Arab-Israeli conflict.” "Most Arab states are actively supporting Israel against the Palestinians -- and not eve ashamed about it or doing it discreetly," said Younes in a Sunday news program. He went on to describe the massive military operation on Gaza as a "joint Arab-Israeli war consisting of Egypt, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia against other Arabs -- the Palestinians as represented by Hamas.” One of the outcomes of the fighting will likely be "the end of the old Arab alliance system that has, even nominally, supported the Palestinians and their goal of establishing a Palestinian state," ...

Arab leaders, viewing Hamas as worse than Israel, stay silent CAIRO: Battling Palestinian militants in Gaza two years ago, Israel found itself pressed from all sides by unfriendly Arab neighbors to end the fighting. Not this time. After the military ouster of the Islamist government in Cairo last year, Egypt has led a new coalition of Arab states — including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Jordan — that has effectively lined up with Israel in its fight against Hamas, the Islamist movement that controls the Gaza Strip. That, in turn, may have contributed to the failure of the antagonists to reach a negotiated ceasefire even after more than three weeks of bloodshed. "The Arab states' loathing and fear of political Islam is so strong that it outweighs their allergy to Benjamin Netanyahu," the Prime Minister of Israel, said Aaron David Miller, a scholar at the Wilson Center in Washington and a former Middle East negotiator under several presidents. "I have never seen a situation like it, where ...
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Millions of Muslims across the world celebrated the first day of the Eid al-Fitr holiday Monday, which marks the end of the monthlong fast of Ramadan. The three-day-long Eid al-Fitr holiday is a time to celebrate the completion of Ramadan, a month devoted to worship and repentance during which observing Muslims abstain from food and water from sunrise to sunset every day. But the mood was dark for millions of people affected by the Syrian civil war, the Gaza war and the militant advance in Iraq. Many were just too busy trying to survive to observe the holiday. Beyond the Middle East, the few remaining Muslims in the Central African Republic's capital city ventured out to a mosque under the watchful guard of armed peacekeepers. Others like Aminata Bary stayed at home, still too fearful to venture out for fear of attack from Christian militias who drove thousands of Muslims from the capital this year. In the Philippines, an insurgent group attacked people traveling to ce ...

If there is any one statement from the Bible that has been the central inspiration for United Research, it has been what Jesus said in the Sermon on the Mount: "Ye are the Light of the world." We have taken this to mean that each one of us has the Light of God within us and that we have a responsibility for planet Earth. It is our responsibility to use the Light to increase that which is Good in everyone and everything. If we look at this world that we have responsibility for, we see many hurting people. Probably the densest area of hurt is the Middle East. For decades, for centuries, for millennia, this has been an area of anger, hatred, and revenge. Seemingly since the beginning there has been hatred of the Jews. Now we see hatreds between Muslim Sunnis and Muslim Shiites. The region is aflame. Syria is several years into a civil war. Iraq is disintegrating under an assault from extremists. Libya is a fragmented, weak state. Stronger countries in the region are threatened by the chaos around ...

The EU Offers a Model for Unifying the Middle East By Ed Husain June 19, 2014 Financial Times Not long ago, Europe was a continent that resembled how the Middle East looks today. It was bursting with dictators and stalked by political extremists. Its intolerance of minorities led to the horrors of the Holocaust. Perpetual contests over its national borders triggered two world wars. This depressing picture is being repeated across the region, from Morocco to Syria to Yemen. The rise of religious sectarianism in Iraq and Syria, like the repression of Islamists in Egypt, produces the magnetic narratives of radicalism that find adherents among Europe’s young Muslims. Many see the region as a desperate case. Yet there is reason to hope Europe’s past and present can inform the Middle East’s future. Just as a warring continent found peace through unity by creating what became the EU, Arabs, Turks, Kurds and other groups in the region could find relative peace in ever closer union. After all, most of its pr ...

IPL’s credibility needs rebuilding Sun, Apr 13, 2014 09:24 IST In three days, it’ll be time for some off-shore cricket action as the Indian Premier League begins in the United Arab Emirates. By all accounts, the excitement over masala club cricket coming to Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah is high. This has been vouched for by Sunil Gavaskar, BCCI president for the IPL, as well.At a time when the general elections in India are in full swing and voters are turning out in large numbers across several states, the hardcore IPL fan does feel a bit dejected that the first leg of the tournament is not being held at home. Yet, to be fair to the Indian government, it has done well to allow the return of the IPL after a fortnight in the UAE. Even as the teams stepped up their preparations before leaving for the Middle East, the Supreme Court also kept the IPL in the news. As far as players, coaches, team management and franchises are concerned, they would do well to realise that the seventh edition of the IPL is un ...

Still in Development: A Film Culture in Dubai DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — When the heiress Paris Hilton traveled here in June and July to audition female friends for her show “My New BFF,” her producers had access to state-of-the-art studios and a government eager to import a touch of Hollywood glamour to the Middle East. But to adhere to the region’s Islamic norms, many of the ingredients in reality TV were taboo: there would be no drinking, no cursing, no dramatic displays of affection. The producers thought about filming a scene at a water park, but passed on the option of dressing the contestants in religiously appropriate swimwear. dubaipost.info Dubai, its rival Abu Dhabi and other Persian Gulf cities face enormous hurdles as they try to diversify their economies by fostering creativity and becoming entertainment capitals. THREE ARAB COUNTRIES BAN NOAH FILM: A torrential downpour of Muslim bans has Paramount Pictures' "Noah" bogged down in the Middle East prior to its March 28 release. Qatar, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates have already confirmed they will ban the film in their countries. Other Muslim countries including Jordan, Kuwait and Egypt are expected to do the same. The ban boycotts the depiction of Noah, who survived the Flood by building an ark according to G-d's word, as related in the Torah. The blockbuster Biblical epic is directed by Jewish-American Darren Aronofsky, and features a star-studded cast of Russell Crowe, Anthony Hopkins, Emma Watson, and Jennifer Connelly. Nevertheless, Egypt's leading Sunni Muslim religious institute released a statement Thursday renewing "its rejection to the screening of any production that characterizes Allah’s prophets and messengers and the companions of the Prophet (Mohammed)." It is worth noting that Mohammed reportedly lived around 1,500 years ago, whereas Noah wal ...

On August 23, 1996 , the cargo ship, Uniceb – en route from Fremantle to Jordan – burst into flames soon after an explosion in the engine room. 640 km (400 miles) north-east of the Seychelles , the crew abandoned ship with the loss of one human life. Cast adrift on the Indian Ocean , the cargo of 67,000 closely confined and panic-stricken sheep was abandoned to suffer the horrors of heat stroke, suffocation, or prolonged death by burning or drowning. The 20,884 ton Uniceb, with its eight cargo decks, had shipped 5 million sheep annually to destinations in the Middle East over the last 14 years, including Jordan , the United Arab Emirates , Saudi Arabia , Oman and Bahrain . Earlier, the International Transport Federation (ITF) had been advised of tensions between the crew of the Uniceb and the owner's representative on board. While in Fremantle a crewman with a broken collar bone approached the Australian Maritime Union "visibly shaken but too terrified to tell what had happened". The ITF reported that ...

West monitors funding of jihadists in Syria KUWAIT: Western countries have a plan to monitor movements of funds in countries which support jihadists in Syria, including Kuwait. This was reported yesterday by a local daily quoting a European official who indicated that funding comes from individuals “and governments have nothing to do with it.” “Saudi Arabia has a clear direction with regards to dealing with Syria,” the official said, adding that Arab Kingdom’s main goal is the removal of Syrian President Bashar Al-Asad “which is something that the West agrees on as well,” said an unnamed European official speaking to Al Rai newspaper’s correspondent in Brussels. He also identified Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates as countries which share the same goal and at the same time have previously been accused of supporting global jihad. “We are completely aware of the activity of some individuals in the Middle East who provide support to extremists in Syria behind their governments’ backs, ...
Dubai police seize record $31m drug haul Police have seized a record $31m worth of amphetamine-like stimulants in Dubai, the local press said. Dubai's police chief, Major General Khamis Mattar al-Mazeina, told the Khaleej Times newspaper that the operation, codenamed "nine ball," dealt a major blow to drug trafficking in the United Arab Emirates on Monday. Five people of different Arab nationalities were implicated in the shipment of some 4.6m Captagon pills. Captagon was originally the brand name for fenethylline, a synthetic stimulant. The black market version of the drug has become popular in the Middle East and often contains amphetamines and caffeine, according to a 2011 UN Office on Drugs and Crime report. So far three people have been arrested.

By John Bolton Published: Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013, 9:00 p.m. Under Barack Obama, American influence in the Middle East has sunk to levels not seen since before World War II. From Israel to Saudi Arabia, from Egypt to the United Arab Emirates, our friends are shaking their heads, wondering why we have seemingly taken leave of our senses. Across this vital region, Obama is effectively empowering our opponents and turning his back on U.S. supporters and allies. He has openly courted implacable adversaries like Tehran's ayatollahs and the Muslim Brotherhood, allowed Chinese penetration to reach unprecedented levels and restored Russian clout to pre-1979 proportions. And Obama is far from finished. The U-turn he is engineering in America's international influence is global in scope but its most visible manifestations are emerging in the Middle East. Two long-standing U.S. allies — Egypt and Saudi Arabia — seem determined to separate themselves from key U.S. policies unless Obama reverses course. And if thes ...
Energy of mahindra:- Mahindra & Mahindra entered the energy sector in 2002, in response to growing demands for increased electric power in India.[38] Since then, more than 150,000 Mahindra Powerol engines and diesel generator sets (gensets) have been installed in India, offering standard proper quality power, as do most larger companies, in areas with arguably less relliable grid electricity. The inverters, batteries, and gensets are manufactured at three facilities in Pune (Maharastra), Chennai (Tamil Nadu), and Delhi; and 160 service points across India offer 24-7 support to most key markets. Powerol is present in countries across Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia—and expanding into the United Arab Emirates, Bangladesh, and Nepal.[38] Mahindra Powerol's energy services consist mostly of power leasing and telecom infrastructure management.[39] In 2006, it became a major market leader in the telecom segment (and in 2011, its market share passed 45 percent). In 2007, it won the F ...

Although not being one of the current top water polo countries in the world, that doesn't mean things are running slow in the United Arab Emirates. In fact, the federation is working hard and the game in the Middle East shows promising signs of development. Not only with a couple of national youth leagues but also in encouraging local schools to participate in the sport by including the sport in their programs and setting up school teams for U14 and U12 age categories that will form a national youth school league. But there's more; an Emirates Cup (Final Four) tournament for the best four national youth teams in each category to play for the championship and an International Aquatics Festival in April, 2014 with coaching clinics from the legendary Croatian former head coach Ratko Rudic. Most of it staged in the mighty Hamdan Sports Complex, holding one of the most impressive swimming pools in the world in a facility that can accomodate up to 15,000 spectators. As icing on the cake for enthousiasts from th ...

This is long overdue. A culmination of writing during my first week of induction into Schlumberger. As of now, I am in my last month of 14 week PEPTEC-0 & 1 (Open Hole) Wireline Field Engineer training school in MLC, Abu Dhabi. School has been intensive but it has been a thoroughly enjoyable experience.     Monday, 11 March, 201312:38 AM   I touched down at Abu Dhabi airport at quarter to 1am together with my friend Muhil. Though I have transited in Doha before, it felt like the first time arriving in the Middle East. Greeted by custom officers in the full head to toe robes as uniforms, men in white dishdasha and women in black abaya, it suddenly dawned upon me that this was the start of my journey as a Schlumberger employee. A half hour long bus ride took me to the Middle East Learning Centre (MLC), a purpose built Schlumberger facility. It was, by then, already close to 7 am in Malaysia, 4 hours ahead of United Arab Emirates (UAE). Snooze.   Reporting time was 8.15 am for induction and the start of ...

Arsenal dismiss takeover claims after reports of Middle East interest Arsenal have dismissed the possibility of owner Stan Kroenke selling his majority stake in the Gunners following reports that a Middle East consortium could make a £1.5bn offer for the club. The Sunday Telegraph has reported that an unnamed group is set to move for the Emirates club. But Arsenal have denied the claims. "Mr Kroenke is committed to Arsenal FC for the long term and has no intention of selling," Arsenal communications director Mark Gonnella told BBC Sport. "There has been no contact from any consortium regarding a takeover." The reports claim that the potential investors, from Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, have requested a meeting with Kroenke. The story also says that the group would put up significant funds for new players as well as lowering ticket prices at the Emirates Stadium. Arsenal have not won a trophy since 2005 and Kroenke has faced criticism from fans following the sales of key players Cesc Fabregas, Sa ...

Middle East is new global travel crossroads DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — It's 1 a.m. and the sprawling airport in this desert city is bustling. Enough languages fill the air to make a United Nations translator's head spin. Thousands of fliers arrive every hour from China, Australia, India and nearly everywhere else on the planet. Few venture outside the terminal, which spans the length of 24 football fields. They come instead to catch connecting flights to somewhere else. If it weren't for three ambitious and rapidly expanding government-owned airlines — Emirates Airline, Etihad Airways and Qatar Airways — they might have never come to the Middle East. For generations, international fliers have stopped over in London, Paris and Amsterdam. Now, they increasingly switch planes in Dubai, Doha and Abu Dhabi, making this region the new crossroads of global travel. The switch is driven by both the airports and airlines, all backed by governments that see aviation as the way to make their countries b ...

Qatar seeks a bigger role in Middle East Join our daily free Newsletter MENAFN - Arab News - 13/02/2013 In the center of Cairo, young men hold up a burning flag for the cameras to show their fury at a nation they believe is meddling in their country and the wider Middle East. It's a familiar image. But it's not the US flag they are waving, it is that of Qatar, the country that has used its billions to spread its influence in the wake of the Arab Spring. For most Western governments and officials, the influence of Qatar government is seen as broadly positive. Qatar's neighbors are uneasy, however. In Egypt, Libya and Syria, where Qatar tried to play a role post-Arab Spring, it finds itself blamed for much that has gone wrong on a local level. Close ties to Egypt's new leaders, the Muslim Brotherhood, have alarmed countries like the United Arab Emirates, where the group is banned and which in January said it had foiled a Brotherhood-linked coup plot. Senior officials in the UAE have long believed Qatar has ...

-BALITANG OFW- MANILA, Philippines -- The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia remained the top market for Overseas Filipino Workers this year despite the temporary ban imposed on new domestic hires. Philippine Overseas Employment Administration head Hans Leo Cacdac said the oil-rich Middle East kingdom accounted for some 1.3 million of the 1,460,097 Filipino workers, 75 percent of these land-based, deployed overseas from January to November this year. Cacdac said the government signed 17 labor agreements with host governments this year in continuing efforts to protect the rights and welfare of OFWs, particularly domestic workers. These included agreements with Kuwait, Jordan and Lebanon, and a labor mobility communiqué with British Columbia, Canada. Other favored destinations of OFWs were the United Arab Emirates, Singapore, Hong Kong, Qatar, Kuwait, Taiwan, Italy, Bahrain and Malaysia. Ten Countries for U.S. Dollar Counterfeiting, Fiscal Years 2000‑2005 In 1994, the JIST members first visited wholesale banknote distribution centers in Europe and Asia to *** the reception that a newly designed $100 note might meet by the banks and other institutions involved in distributing U.S. currency internationally. Next, the JIST representatives visited the two countries that were believed to have the largest holdings of U.S. currency, Argentina and Russia, as well as Belarus, a neighbor of Russia. Then, in September and October of 1995, JIST representatives visited the Middle East, a region that historically had been a significant importer of USD. The countries visited on this trip were Turkey, Egypt, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and United Arab Emirates. After the 1996 legislation, ICAP teams made three trips to Asia to study U.S. currency usage in eight countries: Cambodia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Korea, the Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam. Nuclear Energy is on the revival today, as it is being considered as one of the energy sources to solve Climate Change/Global Warming. In addition, the Middle East is now in the direction of going nuclear, particularly the United Arab Emirates (UAE). I am posting here our Nuclear Training in the USA. This training was for the operation and maintenance of the first Philippine Nuclear Power Plant (PNPP-1) in Bataan. We are supposed to be the operating engineers of BNPP or PNPP-1. Unfortunately, the operation of the Nuclear Plant was stopped due to political reasons. It was mothballed ever since. It is hope that this album will give some glimpse and information about Nuclear Energy, and the capability of Filipinos to handle it.

"The U.S. has always had two predominant interests in the Middle East. The first was guaranteeing the flow of oil at the lowest possible price even when that meant supporting corrupt and repressive Arab regimes which would do America’s bidding. (Saudi Arabia’s King Faisal, in my view the first and the last truly great Arab leader of modern times, was assassinated because he was no longer willing to be an American puppet, a fact he demonstrated by, among other things, defying Henry Kissinger with his support for Arafat and the PLO). The second was to do with the fact that the Military Industrial Complex in all of its manifestations is the biggest single creator of jobs and wealth in America. It not only needed wars to guarantee the flow of tax dollars into its coffers, it also needed very wealthy Arab client states to buy its products. (In 2011 U.S. weapons sales reached a record high of $66 billion. America’s largest customer was Saudi Arabia, which purchased more than $33bn worth of weapons from th ...
One more little rant today and I promise I'll shut up. Is this irony or monumental hypocrisy or worse ?- On Monday, David Cameron was in the Middle East trying to sell (!!!) arms to the United Arab Emirates (wearing a poppy). Yesterday, he was filmed in Syria talking to the rebels and calling on the international community to intervene in the conflict (and we should, to put an end to it, I am still traumatised by the picture 2 weeks ago, of a little boy about two with blood on his mouth, tears in his eyes and and holding up his bloodied little hands to be picked up - that's war). Can Cameron not see what is wrong here? Or is he just emulating the Middle East Peace envoy - and starter of Iraqi war, Tony Blair?

Tell me Again...how "they" are jealous of what this country has again ? Qatar has the world's highest per capita GDP and proven reserves of oil and natural gas.[8] Qatar tops the list of the World's richest countries by Forbes. In 2010, Qatar had the world's highest GDP per capita, while the economy grew by 19.40%, the fastest in the world. The main drivers for this rapid growth are attributed to ongoing increases in production and exports of liquefied natural gas, oil, petrochemicals and related industries. Qatar has the second-highest human development in the Arab World after the United Arab Emirates. In 2009, Qatar was the United States’ fifth-largest export market in the Middle East, trailing behind the U.A.E., Israel, Saudi Arabia and Egypt. With a small citizen population of less than 300,000 people, the Qatar workforce comprises expatriates from other Arab nations (20% of population), the Indian Subcontinent (India 20%, Nepal 13%, Pakistan 7%, Sri Lanka 5%), Southeast Asia (Philippines 10%), and ...
