WASHINGTON, Jan 4 (Reuters) - The U.S. State Department on Monday renewed its call for leaders in the Middle East to try to calm tensions
American investigative journalist Wayne Madsen says Americans are targeted by terrorists who are trained by the United States government. “We’re targeted because we’re training the people that target our own citizens,” he told Press TV on Saturday. He made the comments after the US State Department warned Americans residing worldwide to prepare for "terrorist actions and violence," following Paris attacks. In a statement on Friday, the department said the recent terrorist attacks serve as a reminder that American citizens need to maintain a “high level of vigilance” and “take appropriate steps to increase their security awareness.” It said that US-led airstrikes against the ISIL terrorist group in Iraq and Syria made American nationals and interests a target for reprisals, "especially in the Middle East, North Africa, Europe and Asia." Madsen noted that the US is definitely not serious about “cutting off” ISIL. “At the end of this month, the CIA is going to start training the use of ...
WASHINGTON’S SECRET AGENDAS The public continues to fall for the lies One might think that by now even Americans would have caught on to the constant stream of false alarms that Washington sounds in order to deceive the people into supporting its hidden agendas. The public fell for the lie that the Taliban in Afghanistan are terrorists allied with Al Qaeda. Americans fought a war for 13 years that enriched *** Cheney’s firm, Halliburton, and other private interests only to end in another Washington failure. The public fell for the lie that Saddam Hussein in Iraq had “weapons of mass destruction” that were a threat to America and that if the US did not invade Iraq Americans risked a “mushroom cloud going up over an American city.” With the rise of ISIS, this long war apparently is far from over. Billions of dollars more in profits will pour into the coffers of the US military security complex as Washington fights those who are redrawing the false Middle East boundaries created by the British a ...
What makes up the near exact center of the Muslim Levant? Israel. ISIL stands for the Islamic State of Iraq and Levant. Now, to us Westerners we don’t really make much of a distinction, do we? No, honestly from our perspective it’s all about the same. But how would a Muslim living in the Middle East view it? Just what is the Levant anyway? Let’s take a look. The geographical term LEVANT refers to a multi-nation region in the Middle East. It’s a land bridge between Turkey to the north and Egypt to the south. If you look on a map, however, in the near exact middle of the nations that comprise the Levant, guess what you see? Come on, guess! It’s Israel. When Barack Obama refers over and over to the Islamic State as ISIL, he is sending a message to Muslims all over the Middle East that he personally does not recognize Israel as a sovereign nation, but as territory belonging to the Islamic State. Now you know why Obama says that he has no plan, no goal, and no stated aim for dealing with ISIS. But he ...
BREAKING NEWS Sunday, September 14, 2014 9:58 AM EDT Arab Nations Offer to Conduct Airstrikes Against ISIS, U.S. Official Says Several Arab countries have offered to carry out airstrikes against militants from the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, a senior State Department official said Sunday. The offer was disclosed by American officials traveling with Secretary of State John Kerry, who is approaching the end of a weeklong trip that was intended to mobilize international support for the campaign against ISIS. “There have been offers both to Centcom and to the Iraqis of Arab countries taking more aggressive kinetic action,” said the State Department official, who used the acronym for the United States Central Command, which oversees military operations in the Middle East. The Dispensable Nation g5hl96. k4m4tr8r9 rk6qh6. See details here: cb3ym3oo4 Former State Department advisor for Afghanistan and Pakistan and bestselling author Vali Nasr delivers a sharp indictment of America's flawed foreign policy and outlines a new relationship with the Muslim world and with new players in the changing Middle East. In this essential new book, Vali Nasr argues that the Obama Administration had a chance to improve its relations with the Middle East, but instead chose to pursue its predecessor's questionable strategies there. Nasr takes readers behind the scenes at the State Department and reveals how the new government's fear of political backlash and the specter of terrorism crippled the efforts of diplomatic giants, like Richard Holbrooke and Hillary Clinton, to boost America's foundering credibility with world leaders. Meanwhile, the true economic threats, China and Russia, were quietly expanding their influence in the region. And a second Arab Spring is brewing--not a hopeful clamor ...

Patches and the best news and despite the rejection of the U.S. State Department said Washington plans proposals to recast the borders of the greater Middle East, including Pakistan, along ethnic and religious lines. Kenyans who migrate in search of employment in other East African countries as well as in Europe, the US and Middle East may be exploited in domestic servitude, massage parlours and brothels, the report states. “Kenyan women are subjected to forced prostitution in Thailand by Ugandan and Nigerian traffickers,” the State Department observes. *** and bisexual Kenyan men are lured from universities with promises of overseas jobs, only to be forced into prostitution and sex trafficking in Qatar and the UAE,” according to the report. US Department of State Document confirms regimeagenda in the Middle East...
So here are three indisputable facts that disprove the Republican innuendo of intentional wrongdoing or cover-up: Fact one: The CIA, not the White House or the State Department, was the originator of the now controversial phrase in the "talking points" that the attack was "spontaneously inspired by the protests at the U.S. Embassy in Cairo." Protests in Cairo and elsewhere in the Middle East were indisputably in reaction to an anti-Muslim video posted online by an American. We know that this exact phrase was in the first sentence of the first of 14 versions of the talking points drafted by the CIA on Sept. 14, 2012, at 11:14 a.m. and never changed through the last version, dated Sept. 15, at 11:36 a.m. We also know now, with the wisdom of hindsight, that the phrase, especially the word "spontaneous," turned out to be wrong. It was a mistake made by the CIA in good faith and based upon contradictory and uncertain intelligence at the time. The CIA deputy director at the time, Mike Morell, also told Congress ...

These are the pieces of the global stories that most US citizens usually miss. The attached article will explain Victoria Nuland, (Yes, our STATE DEPARTMENT), in Moldova handing out millions of dollars trying to whoo foreign leaders to the EU side of the table. This is exactly what has happened in Ukraine and all of the Middle East!! Next will come street protests as the populations want nothing to do with the failed EU. Then an uprising. Then a Prime Minister or president overthrown. Yadda, Yadda, Yadda. BUT IT BEGINS WITH AMERICA TRYING TO BRIBE FOREIGN NATIONS INTO WESTERN TRADE AGREEMENTS!! Why can't Americans see this? US funded anti-Morsi protests last year: Documents Newly revealed documents show senior Egyptian opposition leaders who called for the overthrow of Mohamed Morsi, Egypt’s first democratically elected president, had the financial backing of the US. US President Barack Obama had claimed that Washington did not take sides in the Egyptian political crisis that ousted Morsi in July last year. According to Aljazeera TV channel, a review of dozens of US federal government documents obtained by the Investigative Reporting Program at UC Berkeley shows that Washington quietly funded opposition groups in Egypt that worked against the Morsi government. Washington channeled the funding through a State Department program which is part of a wider effort to try to stop the retreat of pro-US secularists and defeat the Islamic movements in the Middle East. The program was dubbed by US officials as a "democracy assistance" initiative. The move is in contradiction to the US government regulations that ban the use of taxpay ...
Egypt Tries to Find Its Place in a Changing Middle East March 26, 2014 | 0107 GMT The United States on Tuesday condemned an Egyptian court's death sentence for 529 members of the Muslim Brotherhood, just the latest sign of strain on the U.S.-Egyptian relationship that for decades was the bedrock of regional stability. U.S. State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf called the verdict, handed down a day earlier, "outrageous, shocking, unconscionable" and warned Cairo that the manner in which it proceeded with the trials and the sentences would have a direct bearing on future U.S. aid to the world's most populous Arab state. The reaction from the United States occurred as the Arab League summit in Kuwait is being held under the shadow of a dispute between Saudi Arabia and Qatar, a dispute that to a great degree centers on Doha's support for the Brotherhood. It is not clear if the controversial ruling was issued on direct orders from the highest levels of the Egyptian regime. However, Cairo wants to break the m ...

What Neocons Want from Ukraine Crisis by Robert Parry March 2, 2014: Where a coalition of neocon operatives and neocon holdovers within the State Department fanned the flames of unrest in Ukraine, contributing to the violent overthrow of democratically elected President Viktor Yanukovych. The neocons – along with Israel and Saudi Arabia – had hoped that Obama would launch military strikes on Syria and Iran that could open the door to more “regime change” across the Middle East, a dream at the center of neocon geopolitical strategy since the 1990s. This neocon strategy took shape after the display of U.S. high-tech warfare against Iraq in 1991 and the collapse of the Soviet Union later that year. the neocons began believing in a new paradigm of a uni-polar world where U.S. edicts were law. Iraq was first on the neocon hit list, but next came Syria and Iran. The overriding idea was that once the regimes assisting the Palestinians and Hezbollah were removed or neutralized, then Israel could dictate . ...
The US Ambassador added that Washington is aware that Tehran supports terror throughout the Middle East. The US congratulates Israel on Wednesday’s operation, he said. Israel captured the ship near Port Sudan early Wednesday with Israeli officials saying the naval operation followed heavy intelligence work tracking the missile shipment from Damascus to Iran and from there to Iraq before being captured en route to Gaza. US Ambassador to Israel Dan Shapiro (photo credit: Flash90) State Department spokesperson Jen Psaki said the Pentagon had made its own plan of action to interdict the Klos-C vessel, though Israel ended up carrying out the operation on its own. “Soon after becoming aware of the imminent movement of the suspected vessel, the White House directed the Department of Defense to monitor the vessel and to develop concepts of operation for a range of options in order to be prepared to take unilateral steps if necessary,” Psaki said in a press briefing Wednesday. “This is part of, of course, ...
As a military face-off intensified in Ukraine’s Crimean region, President Obama on Monday warned Russia it would face costly sanctions unless it ends its occupation. “We are examining a whole series of steps, economic and diplomatic, that will isolate Russia and have a negative impact on their economy,” Obama told reporters after a meeting in the Oval Office with Israel’s Prime Minister, Bejamin Netanyahu, to discuss frozen Middle East peace efforts. Shortly before the president spoke, a State Department official told reporters the U.S. is closer to imposing penalties on Russia unless the country withdraws its military forces. Some 6,000 Russian soldiers reportedly have fanned out across the large southern peninsula and Ukraine officials claim Russia threatened to seize some of its warships. Russia denied making any such threats. Secretary of State John Kerry plans to fly to Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, for a visit on Tuesday to express U.S. support for the embattled new government that took over ...
As documented by Profs. Mordechai Nisan and Walid Phares, persecution of Christians in the Middle East is the elephant in the Human Rights living room. Egypt Rejects Collaborator of Al-Qaeda [choice of mr u-punkedus] To Be The Next US Ambassador To Egypt! An excerpt from, "U.S. Ambassador to Syria Robert Ford to retire: sources" Reuters, February 4: Ford had been expected to become U.S. ambassador to Egypt, according to several sources, but Egyptian government officials had objected because they regarded him as too close to Islamist parties in the Middle East. A former State Department official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said it was his understanding that the Egyptian government had made clear it did not want Ford to go to Cairo to serve as U.S. ambassador. Under diplomatic practice known as "agreement," a country typically contacts another country before sending an ambassador to ensure the choice is acceptable. In this case, Ford's candidacy did not even get that far, said the former U.S. official, who has spoken to Egyptian officials about the matter. "The Egyptians didn't want him. My understanding is that there is an informal query before ...

Obama To Cut Middle East Democracy Programs The administration has informed aid groups that it plans to decrease the budget for pro-democracy assistance in Arab Spring countries. A planned decrease by the Obama Administration in funding for democracy promotion and election support in the Middle East is prompting alarm among activists. They say cuts are likely to be more severe than first realized and that the White House appears to be giving up on democracy in the region and downgrading its advancement as a policy priority. In the run-up to Christmas, State Department officials briefed American non-profits funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) about cuts in funding. They were told no money was being earmarked for democracy and governance assistance programs in Iraq and that, for Egypt, the administration was adopting a wait-and-see approach until after a January 15 referendum on a newly-drafted constitution. No extra funding for democracy promotion is being earmarked for Libya, w ...

Anyone who thought the Obama Administration is concentrating so much on its push for détente with Iran that it can’t simultaneously launch a new push for Israeli concessions to the Palestinians was wrong. As the New York Times reports this afternoon, a former U.S. commander in Afghanistan that is currently serving as an advisor to Secretary of State John Kerry is heading to the Middle East to brief the Israelis on a detailed plan for the West Bank that the U.S. envisages will be implemented in the wake of a peace agreement. Though President Obama has repeatedly pledged that he would not seek to impose a U.S. plan on the parties, the Times’s friendly sources at the State Department say retired Marine General John Allen will be bringing with him a specific scheme for the future of the West Bank. The sources say it won’t be presented to the Israelis as a take-it-or-leave-it proposal. But there’s little question that the general’s arrival must be seen as part of an effort to strong arm the Israelis ...

Sanctions forced Iran to the negotiating table. Now is the time to increase our leverage, not decrease it, for the next critical step: Iran dismantling its nuclear weapons program. We must do all we can to ensure that Iran, the world`s leading state sponsor of international terrorism, ends its nuclear weapons program. With nuclear weapons capability, Iran would pose an existential threat to Israel, spur nuclear arms proliferation in the unstable Middle East, threaten Europe, endanger the U.S., and could subcontract nuclear devices to its terrorist proxies worldwide such as Hezbollah. The threat of new sanctions is critical because Iran may not comply with . ...
Truman had long taken an interest in the history of the Middle East, and had read many books on ancient history and the events related in the Bible. He was sympathetic to those who sought a Jewish homeland in Mandatory Palestine. As a senator, he had assured Jewish leaders of his support for Zionism, and at a 1943 rally in Chicago had called for a homeland for those Jews who survived the Nazi regime. A Jewish homeland in Palestine was widely popular in the United States, and Jewish support could be key in the upcoming presidential election. However, State Department officials were reluctant to offend the Arabs, who were opposed to the establishment of a Jewish state in their midst. Secretary of Defense James Forrestal warned Truman of the importance of Saudi Arabian oil in another war; Truman replied that he would decide his policy on the basis of justice, not oil.[92] Furthermore, when diplomats were called home from the Middle East to advise Truman and promoted the Arab point of view, Truman told them h ...

' International New York Times! ' Middle East. November 7, 2013. Kerry Takes a Personal Approach to Mideast Peace! ' AMMAN, Jordan — Traveling around the Middle East with Secretary of State John Kerry, particularly for a reporter whose last State Department tour was with Hillary Rodham Clinton, is a seat-of-the-pants experience. Itineraries are notional. Improvisation is the rule. In the last 24 hours, Mr. Kerry’s aides warned that he might fly back to Israel after his stop in Jordan, then minutes later said that was a false alarm. The next morning they confirmed that he would, in fact, travel to Tel Aviv on Friday for breakfast with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu after dinner here with the Palestinian president, Mahmoud Abbas. And after that? Who can say? Mr. Kerry seems perfectly willing to upend his schedule based on his instinct that staying a little longer, holding another meeting, flying to another capital, can nudge forward peace negotiations between the Israelis and the Palestinians. Another British agent was Allen Dulles, a member of the U.S. State Department. He supported British and French imperialism. He once argued that America would be hurt if Britain and France gave up their territories in the Middle East. (Page 535) During the Second World War, Dulles became a member of OSS. He was “strongly influenced” by Royall Tyler, another OSS official who also happened to be a British secret agent. (Appendix II, Page 2 of the Park Report) In 1953, Dulles became the director of the CIA. He would stay in that position for eight years, until 1961, which made him the longest serving CIA director in history. While at the CIA, Dulles continued to defend British interests, particularly when it came to Iran. The Iranians knew that the British were taking their oil without adequately compensating them. And so in 1951, Mohammed Mossadeq, the Iranian Prime Minister, seized all of BP’s assets in Iran. The British were furious. They tried to convince America to remove Mossadeq but America refus ...

MYTH: The Palestinians are now ready to make peace with Israel. FACT In his first comments as America’s new Secretary of State, John Kerry said that pursuing Israeli-Palestinian peace would be one of his top priorities. "So much of what we aspire to achieve and what we need to do globally, what we need to do in the Maghreb and South Asia, South Central Asia, throughout the Gulf, all of this is tied to what can or doesn't happen with respect to Israel-Palestine. And in some places it's used as an excuse. In other places it's a genuine, deeply felt challenge."290 Kerry's statement was alarming because it represented the long discredited State Department view that the Palestinian issue is the root of all Middle East problems and ignored the turmoil in the region unrelated to the Palestinian issue, including threats from al-Qaeda, unrest in Iraq, ongoing fighting with the Taliban in Afghanistan, new terror threats in North Africa, Syria in flames, Egypt on the verge of chaos, and most important, Iran nearin ...

Under Obama, There is No American Leadership President Obama has pursued a Middle East policy that has emboldened America's enemies, alienated its allies and made the risk of conflict in the region greater. In 1976, President Anwar Sadat broke Egypt’s long-standing ties with the Soviet Union to begin a relationship with the U.S. He said America held “99% of the cards” in the Middle East. No one would say that today. According to the Wall Street Journal, "In Egypt, a country where the U.S. has wielded enormous influence for the last four decades, the most striking aspect of the current upheaval is that Washington appears to have relatively little left. . . "The U.S. responses so far appears to have left those in Cairo’s streets confused over whether Washington is still backing President Mohammed Morsi, who was embraced by the Obama Administration after he came to power in 2011."   Iraq and US Foreign Policy When we are talking about regime change in Iraq, you believe that the US did this for oil. But at the same as you know the US gets oil from other Gulf countries, South American countries, and Norway. How do you explain that? The primary issue is not access but rather control. That is clear both from internal documentation and from the historical record. The US followed the same Middle East policies for decades when it was not using a drop of Middle East oil, and even now, intelligence projects that while controlling the Middle East for the traditional reasons, the US should rely on more secure Atlantic Basin reserves: West Africa and the Western hemisphere. Hence the kinds of considerations you raise are of only limited significance. Over 60 years ago, the State Department described the oil reserves of the Gulf as "a stupendous source of strategic power" and "one of the greatest material prizes in world history." Iraq is at the heart of the region, and is its ...
Al-Amoudi’s case is perhaps the best example, because he was the conduit through much of the U.S. government outreach that was conducted following the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. Not only was he asked by the Clinton administration to help train and certify all Muslim military chaplains (his organization being the first to certify such),[13] he was later appointed by the State Department in 1997 as a civilian goodwill ambassador to the Middle East, making six taxpayer-funded trips.[14] Further, with the assistance and encouragement of then-First Lady Hillary Clinton, al-Amoudi arranged the first White House Iftar dinner in 1996, personally hand-picking the attendees.[15] Thus, he was regularly invited to the White House during both the Clinton and Bush (II) Administrations. In 1992 and 1996, al-Amoudi’s American Muslim Council hosted hospitality suites at both the Democratic and Republican conventions.[16] It is fair to say that during this period, Abdul Rahman al-Amoudi was the most prominent and ...

Elizabeth Cheney, the daughter of *** Cheney, is an outspoken and controversial proponent of hardline U.S. foreign and domestic policies on the “war on terror.” During the George W. Bush presidency, Cheney worked in the State Department overseeing Middle East policy. After the election of Barack Obama, she became a standard-bearer for the militarist agenda pursued by her father during the Bush years, founding a right-wing lobbying group called Keep America Safe and serving as a go-to pundit on conservative media outlets like Fox News. Shortly after it began operations in late 2009, Keep America Safe, which Cheney cofounded with the Weekly Standard’s William Kristol and support from conservative donors like Melvin Sembler, became a lightening rod for controversy. In February 2010, the group released a video that questioned the loyalty of Justice Department lawyers who had defended terrorism suspects. Defending the video, Michael Goldfarb, an adviser to the group, recklessly claimed that the lawyers . ...
OBAMA ~~ Worst leader in nations histroy. The failure to take action in Benghazi, Libya – before and during the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2012 – will one day be considered one of the most detestable failures of leadership in our nation’s history. I believe that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is largely responsible for the debacle in Benghazi. According to a recently released State Department report on the Middle East, there were eleven terrorist attacks in Libya prior to the 9/11/12 attacks, and six of those were in Benghazi, including the very facility to which then-Secretary Clinton assigned Ambassador Christopher Stevens. Yet, Mrs. Clinton and other State Department officials failed to take action on numerous urgent requests for further security at the poorly defended facility. Because of her apparent failures at the time of the crisis and her clearly deceptive answers during her Capitol Hill testimony on Benghazi, Clinton’s approval ratings have dropped 12 points, which do ...
Feds say Iran’s support for terrorism growing Iran’s support of international terrorism has reached levels unseen since the 1990s, but the top cadre of Al Qaeda leaders have largely been decimated in Afghanistan and Pakistan, the State Department said Thursday in its latest report on worldwide terrorism. “Iran’s state sponsorship of terrorism and [its ally Hezbollah‘s] terrorist activity have reached a tempo unseen since the 1990s, with attacks plotted in Southeast Asia, Europe, and Africa,” the State Department said in its analysis, pointing to attacks last year in India, Thailand, Georgia and Kenya in which Iran was implicated. The report also said the Islamic Republic “provided financial, material, and logistical support for terrorist and militant groups in the Middle East and Central Asia” and outlined how the Tehran-based Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-Qods Force is the Iranian “regime’s primary mechanism for cultivating and supporting terrorists abroad.” Tehran’s considera ...

Assassination 6 month report: As Ambassador Stevens was telling the State Department that he believed that he was targeted for the Assassination. As the State Department knew that we'd be hit somewhere in the Middle East on 9-11: the White House and State Department pulled 2 Security teams from Libya, leaving me with the question; "Why did the State Dept want the Ambassador killed or kidnapped?" Harsh question? I'm sorry, but I haven't been this angry about anything political since Watergate. They left in Libya, where the British abandoned their embassy in July for safety reasons, the same security as Switzerland. Then they spent 2 weeks saying the assassination was due to a movie trailer for a movie that didn't exist (and spent $120,000 of taxpayer money on a media apology blitz for the movie through the middle east). Then, instead of sending in the military to secure the area and investigate, they sent in the FBI eighteen days after the attack. What the Senate investigations uncovered: 1) The attack was ...
I spent 2 hours this afternoon meeting with 21 judges from 21 different countries from Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and South America. They were part of the State Department program for international visitors. I talked about the difference between Anglo-American common law and the civil law and how this worked in Louisiana. It was great fun and I had my secret weapon...my friend David Gruning from Loyola Law School, whose knowledge of the subject is staggering. One of the judges (from Croatia) told me that she received her Phd from the London School of Economics and that our presentation today reminded her of the best classes at the LSE.
Terror Threat: USA Issues Worldwide Advisory Samaylive (India) (02/20/13) The State Department has issued an international travel alert warning of an increased risk of attacks from terrorist groups including al-Qaida, the Taliban, and Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba. Other groups that could be planning attacks include Harkat-ul-Jihad-i-Islami, Harakat ul-Mujahidin, Indian Mujahideen, and Jaish-e-Mohammed, the State Department says. Recent intelligence indicates that al-Qaida and its affiliates are currently planning attacks against American targets in Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. Expected tactics in the attacks may include suicide operations, assassinations, kidnappings, hijackings, and bombings with conventional or non-conventional weapons. Although both public and private targets are possible, citizens are asked to be wary at locations such as sporting venues, residential areas, and business offices, particularly during the holidays.
Iran has almost total control over the Strait of Hormuz. Hormuz is the tight waterway that connects the Persian Gulf to the Mediterranean. Over 17 million barrels of oil have to pass through Hormuz every day. That's 40% of all the oil shipped in the world. And 90% of all the daily oil shipments from the entire Middle East. With Hormuz alone, Iran could cripple the world overnight. Today, Iran backs Shia militants in Iraq. They give them money and guns. They've even helped Shia politicians take over the Iraqi government. Why? Because gaining control in Iraq takes the Iranians one step closer in their twisted plot for secret revenge. For another one of those steps, just look further south to Yemen. The Pentagon has just tripled its budget on Yemen. Top U.S. General Patraeus just had a not-so-secret meeting with Yemen's president. And our own State Department calls Yemen a “threat... to global stability.” What gives? Even ABC News just called Yemen the next "top target" in the terror war and a "near-per ...

Why Today’s American Foreign Policy is So UnRealistic Posted on Fri, February 1, 2013 at 13:03 pm CET . Email | Print | RSS | Comment | RubinReports | By Barry Rubin President Barack Obama delivers a speech on Middle East and North Africa policy at the State Department in Washington One of the main features of this misguided contemporary foreign policy debate is the corruption of the concept of Realism. In some ways, the school called Realism was simply a way of teaching principles long regarded as obvious in Europe to Americans, whose idealism about the world had both good and bad implications. Both isolationism and the idea that America’s mission is to spread democracy are typical non-Realist patterns of how American exceptionalism plays into foreign policy thinking. That’s why the concepts that made up Realism were introduced to the United States by Hans Morgenthau, a refugee from Germany, and most clearly practiced in office by Henry Kissinger, ditto. But American policymakers — with notabl .. ...

Today on the Sean Hannity Show 3:05 p.m.--Former House Speaker NEWT GINGRICH on Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's testimony to the House Committee regarding the terror attacks in Benghazi. Who should be held accountable and what fault, if any, is the State Department taking for the security breach at the US Embassy? 3:35 p.m.--SEN. RON JOHNSON (R-WI) & SEN. JEFF FLAKE (R-AZ) on the heated moments between Hillary Clinton and members of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee during today's much anticipated Benghazi hearing. 4:05 p.m.--BEN SHAPIRO, editor of Breitbart.com and author of Bullies: How the Left's Culture of Fear and Intimidation Silences America, & DR. Marc Lamont Hill, host of "Our World with Black Enterprise" will debate geopolitical issues in the Middle East including Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood, events in Libya and the looming threat of Iran.
America should be proud of Hilary Clinton’s testimony today in the face of an arrogant Republican criticism. Republicans offered nothing but a vicious and partisan attack led by the likes of John Mccain, while Mrs. Clinton, clearly accepting her responsibility for the tragedy in Benghazi made it clear, (in her words to the senator): "It is our job to figure out what happened and do everything we can to prevent it from ever happening again”. "Nobody is more committed to getting this right," she said. "I am determined to leave the State Department and our country safer, stronger, and more secure." I doubt that Republican are much interested in “working together” to solve anything other than securing their own agenda, control over this nation, and wield a “big stick dominance” over the Middle East in spite of their noble platitudes and boisterous posturing. While leaders old and new within the Republican Party may relish trying to diminish the exemplary service of Secretary Clinton, I think it ...
Very profound - hopefully, our leaders may learn this, someday. By Major General Jerry Curry, USA, Ret. Published: The Great British poet Rudyard Kipling, who understood today’s situation in Afghanistan better than our State Department wrote. I have eaten your bread and salt. I have drunk your water and wine. The deaths ye died I have watched beside. And the lives ye led were mine. There are two points the President and the Secretaries of State and Defense may want to keep in mind as they evaluate future problems in the Middle East and how to successfully address them. Both are easiest illustrated by real life happenings. Many years ago I attended the Infantry officer Advanced Course at Fort Benning, Georgia. Probably ten percent of the students attending that ten month course of instruction were from foreign countries. For about half of the course my table mate was an Arab. We studied together, completed homework assignments together, got to know each other’s families and generally enjoyed each other ...

"Party Hard" singer Andrew W.K. will travel to Bahrain on a State Department-sponsored trip to promote partying and good times in the Middle East.
frank rich: For the good of the country, it’s time to fetch a butterfly net for McCain. At a moment when the Middle East is on fire, you have a United States Senator threatening to hold our State Department hostage for no coherent reasons other than to exercise his temper and to satisfy his insatiable desire for television coverage. It’s a measure of the fallen state of the GOP that this bitter, ever-more-incoherent hothead is now the party’s only elected official with a voice on Foreign Affairs — unless you count his boot-licking Sancho Panza, Lindsey Graham. (The saner Republican foreign policy hand in the Senate, Richard Lugar, was defrocked earlier this year when the crackpot Richard Mourdock, the now-vanquished tea-party favorite, ousted him in Indiana’s Republican primary.) McCain is so out of it that he even suggested that Bill Clinton be sent to the Middle East to broker negotiations — apparently forgetting that there actually is another Clinton in place in the cabinet to do that job.
Obama on Israel-Palestine Noam Chomsky chomsky.info, January 24, 2009 Barack Obama is recognized to be a person of acute intelligence, a legal scholar, careful with his choice of words. He deserves to be taken seriously -- both what he says, and what he omits. Particularly significant is his first substantive statement on Foreign Affairs, on January 22, at the State Department, when introducing George Mitchell to serve as his Special Envoy for Middle East peace. Mitchell is to focus his attention on the Israel-Palestine problem, in the wake of the recent US-Israeli invasion of Gaza. During the murderous assault, Obama remained silent apart from a few platitudes, because, he said, there is only one president -- a fact that did not silence him on many other issues. His campaign did, however, repeat his statement that "if missiles were falling where my two daughters sleep, I would do everything in order to stop that." He was referring to Israeli children, not the hundreds of Palestinian children being butche ...
The universe unraveling The Anti-Empire Report November 1st, 2012 by William Blum The Southeast Asian country of Laos in the late 1950s and early 60s was a complex and confusing patchwork of civil conflicts, changes of government and switching loyalties. The CIA and the State Department alone could take credit for engineering coups at least once in each of the years 1958, 1959 and 1960. No study of Laos of this period appears to have had notable success in untangling the muddle of who exactly replaced whom, and when, and how, and why. After returning from Laos in 1961, American writer Norman Cousins stated that "if you want to get a sense of the universe unraveling, come to Laos. Complexity such as this has to be respected." 1 Syria 2012 has produced its own tangled complexity. In the past 18 months it appears that at one time or another virtually every nation in the Middle East and North Africa as well as members of NATO and the European Union has been reported as aiding those seeking to overthrow the re ...
copied this: Two of the four Americans killed in Tuesday’s attack on the US consulate in Libya were former members of the elite Navy Seals; Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty, US officials said. Doherty had been working on a mission to track down shoulder-launched surface-to-air missiles in Libya, according to ABC News. Woods served multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, providing security at US diplomatic posts in Central America and the Middle East. The two former SEALS, Tyrone Woods, 41, and Glen Doherty, 42, were not employed by the State Department diplomatic security office and instead were what is known as personal service contractors who had other duties related to security, the officials said. They stepped into action, however, when Stevens became separated from the small security detail normally assigned to protect him when he traveled from the more fortified embassy in Tripoli to Benghazi, the officials said. God Bless these men and their Families. Their oath meant something to them and their co ...

I wonder if Ed Schultz (the ED Show... or as I like to say, the "E.D." show) will talk AT ALL about what is going on in the Middle East or the State Department problems... or just talk about Big Bird and how Romney 'hates women'. (rolling my eyes) Say what you want about Fox News, yes it's a conservative company (and the most watched News Network in the country), but they do bring BOTH sides to the show and talk about the issues. MSNBC is 99.99% far left and basically a 24/7 Obama-TV ad.
This story I am about to pass along to you is so outrageous and unbelievable it simply saps the strength from me. I have harped and yelled about politics and current events for 5 years now until I am blue in the face and we continue a constant slide into abyss and it is as if no one cares. This story is simply beyond my strength. I have no idea how familiar you are with Christian organizations around the world. There are "pockets" of Christians sprinkled in everywhere on earth. For example, in Egypt there are what is known as "Coptic Christians" which is about 10% of the population. This is true all through North Africa, Middle East, Asia. For some time, Chrisitian entities have been being attacked, burned, destroyed and murdered. This is not new news. But what is new news is that the Obama Administration is spending millions and millions of dollars, funneled through our corrupt State Department, to rebuild Mosques and minarets in 27 different Islamic countries!! I hope you are as OUTRAGED as I am!! ...
Sheik Omar Abdel Rahman in '88. View Enlarged Image With the Middle East now more hostile to U.S. interests than ever, the "Arab Spring" has become a major political liability for the president. Try as he may, he can't distance himself from it. Betraying his frustration with Cairo's Muslim Brotherhood, which egged on U.S. embassy rioters, President Obama said, "I don't think we would consider them an ally, but we don't consider them an enemy." But in a May 2011 speech at the State Department, Obama essentially took credit for Islamists' rise to power as part of his broader Mideast strategy to help free them from the "repression" of despots, while ending their "suspicion" and "mistrust" of America from the war on terror. "That's why, two years ago in Cairo," the president expounded, "I began our engagement based upon mutual interests and mutual respect." The main beneficiary of his "engagement" was the radical Muslim Brotherhood, which has called for jihad against America and the destruction of Israel. The ...
The entire Middle East, North Africa, and much of the Far East are erupting because of failed Obama policy. Anyone who STILL thinks he deserves another four years needs a head examination!
Franklin Graham: The Muslim Brotherhood is very strong and active in our country. It's infiltrated every level of our government. My friend, Alan, offers this concise summary: "The word is out: You can roll America. Secretary Clinton is dissed in Beijing. (The ambassador's car was attacked today.) U.S. forces curtail patrols in Afghanistan after Afghan soldiers turn their guns against us. The Pakistani doctor who helped us find Bin Laden sits in jail while the Pakistani government continues to receive billions in U.S. aid. We refuse to specify any further actions against Iran, which is now sending troops into Syria. We respond to attacks on U.S. facilities across the Middle East by detaining an obscure California filmmaker, urging Google to "review" his trashy trailer, and assuring Egypt that more aid will be forthcoming. Now this from Vladimir Putin in Russia. 'In commenting on the decision Tuesday, Nuland, the State Department spokeswoman, was careful not to directly criticize Russia.'" And those who are thinking of keeping Obama in office wish to do so, why? I have never felt so unsafe under any president than I do under the one ...
Panetta: No Plans to Bolster Forces in Middle East September 17, 2012 Israel National News reports: “The U.S. military has no major plans to bolster its forces in the Middle East despite a week of violent protests targeting diplomatic outposts, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said on Sunday, according to AFP. With a substantial force already deployed in the region coupled with two U.S. Marine counter-terrorism teams sent to Libya and Yemen, the military has the ability to respond as necessary to protect American diplomats, Panetta told reporters before arriving in Tokyo on an Asian Tour. ‘We do have a major presence in the region,’ he said, adding, ‘Having said that we've enhanced that with FAST (Fleet Anti-Terrorism Security Team) teams and others so that if they are requested, they can respond more quickly.’ He said at the moment there was not a need for dispatching additional forces to the region beyond what was requested by the State Department to safeguard diplomatic outposts. ‘I don't ant ...
White House Out of Touch with Reality... Clings to Video Excuse No matter how ridiculous they sound, Barack Obama and his administration continue with the same talking points. Do they honestly believe that this wide-spread violence across the Middle East and Northern Africa is the result of a YouTube video? That's exactly what they are saying, and they also claim that the violence is not directed at the United States! This is a topic that needs to be driven home. ANYONE who believes that the violence that originally erupted in Egypt and Libya was some spontaneous protest over an anti-Muslim YouTube video is absolutely crazy. The attacks happened on 9-11. The murder of U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens is described by State Department officials and others as a planned, coordinated effort. Do people show up to spontaneous protests with RPGs? The video has been online for months, and it just so happens that two different groups of protesters in two different countries decided to strike on the anniversary of the ...
It is quite troublesome that the “the Middle East is burning” meme is still gaining traction. It is really putting a chill on Barry's celebrity fundraising season - which is just kicking into high gear as we draw close to the second coming. . .uh. . .reelection. Meanwhile, the administration's counter meme “It’s the MOVIE, stupid!” seems to be falling apart a little too fast. Now even the Libyans themselves seem to be blaming Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula for the attack on our consulate and the killing of our embassy staff. Maybe our State Department should start reading the Wall Street Journal for intelligence information. Or maybe our Ambassador to the UN could at least read Yahoo News where it is still possible to pick up a few choice clues, like this one, that give you some insight into what is really happening around the world: "Whoever comes across America's ambassadors or emissaries should follow the example of Omar al-Mukhtar's descendants (Libyans), who killed the American ambassa ...
A coordinated 9/11 terrorist attack on our Embassy in Libya which cost the lives of our ambassador and three other diplomats to Libya... Our own State Department had 48 hours warning of the impending attacks and never warned our embassies... Our embassy security personnel were not allowed to carry live ammunition with our State Department knowing these attacks were coming... Our embassy in Yemen in now on fire, and numerous other U.S. embassies have come under violent siege by radical Muslims in Yemen, Tunisia, Algiers, Egypt, Great Britain, and other African and Middle Eastern countries... President Obama SLEEPS through the first 8 hours of these attacks, and then his administration and subservient mainstream media begins to blame an online video for these uprisings, a video no one has even see and probably doesn't even exist... And with American embassies under siege, the Middle East and North Africa burning, and four of our diplomats murdered and their corpses drug through the streets by blood-thirsty ...
Here's the letter I wrote to the Oneonta Star this morning: It’s All Romney’s Fault It’s pretty obvious that Obama’s Islamic Outreach Program is, as conservatives predicted, a complete disaster. Apparently, throwing Israel under the bus and assisting in the overthrow of Mubarak and Gaddafi wasn’t enough to satisfy the jihadists who filled the vacuum. Arab Spring has now turned into Arab Winter and the tinderbox of the Middle East has exploded. That this began on the anniversary of 9-11 is an unlikely coincidence. We’ve since learned that Obama hasn’t taken the time to attend any of his daily National Security briefings. Moreover, that the State Department ignored credible warnings that our ambassador in Libya was in danger from the local branch of al-Qaeda. No precautions were taken, the envoy’s only security was provided by Libya reportedly in on the plot. Meanwhile, in Cairo, our embassy came under siege and the government, led by the Muslim Brotherhood behind the World Trade Center bomb ...
Riot After Anti-Islam Film: U.S. Ambassador to Libya Killed Sep 12, 2012 8:12 AM EDT Only two months ago, Chris Stevens wrote about how the atmosphere in Libya had changed for the better. People were smiling. Vivian Salama reports on the career diplomat killed in Benghazi. America’s ambassador to Libya, a career diplomat who dedicated much of his life to the Middle East, has died in a rocket attack on the embassy amid violent protests over a U.S.-produced film deemed insulting to Islam. President Obama confirmed the “outrageous” deaths. Chris Stevens, who was appointed ambassador to Libya in May this year, was killed in a rocket-propelled grenade attack near the consulate in the eastern city of Benghazi late Tuesday night, as were three of his State Department colleagues, according to witnesses and various news reports. In one account, Libya security forces allegedly attacked protesters gathered outside the consulate Tuesday, causing them to clash violently. Stevens, 52, was a native of Northern Cal ...

May 10, 2012 - As previously stated, the Muslim Brotherhood and various "hardline" sectarian political factions sweeping into power in the wake of the US-engineered "Arab Spring," have been feigning anti-Israeli and anti-Western sentiments in an attempt to swell their ranks with followers before ultimately forming a united sectarian-front against Iran. The creation of a united sectarian-front was noted by geopolitical analyst Dr. Webster Tarpley who has from the beginning stated that the various possible governments resulting from these engineered revolutions "could then be used to support the fundamental US-UK strategy for the Middle East, which is to assemble a block of Arab and aligned sectarian countries (notably Egypt, Saudis, Gulf states, and Jordan) which, formed into a front with the participation of Israel, would collide with the Iranian Shiite front, including Syria, Hezbollah, Hamas, and various radical forces." Just as the US State Department feigned shock and confusion at the "Arab Spring" it ...

ENERGY INDEPENDENCE.WE'RE STILL WORKING AT IT . President Obama is dedicated to moving America toward a more energy-independent future—one that not only protects our environment but also creates jobs. As part of his all-of-the-above energy plan, the President has encouraged responsible domestic oil production to lessen America’s dependence on foreign oil. Thanks in part to this focus, the nation’s reliance on foreign oil hit a 20-year low in the first part of this year. In fact, energy analysts predict that “America will halve its reliance on Middle East oil by the end of this decade and could end it completely by 2035.” The Wall Street Journal reports: By 2020, nearly half of the crude oil America consumes will be produced at home, while 82% will come from this side of the Atlantic, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration. By 2035, oil shipments from the Middle East to North America “could almost be nonexistent,” the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries recently pre ...
The Obama Administration in general, and the State Department in specific, has a vested interest in a successful outcome for nations that were involved in the Arab Spring.
Barack Obama has again betrayed another traditional ally of the United States. The State Department has renewed its call for the Falkland Islands, whose population is more than 95 percent British, to have their sovereignty negotiated between Great Britain and Argentina.
The biggest single new initiative in the State Department's $51.6 billion budget proposal for next year was a Middle East Incentive Fund -- $770 million in mostly new money to help State respond to the Arab Spring by supporting emerging democracies and their civil societies. But the House of Represe...

EDITORIAL: Obama embraces Islam If Islamism is OK for Egypt, why not America? By THE WASHINGTON TIMES - The Washington Times Wednesday, April 25, 2012 View results The Obama Administration is doing its utmost to promote the fortunes of the Islamist parties in Egypt. A State Department official declared that with the rise of these radical groups after the Arab Spring, "people who once might have gone into Al Qaeda see an opportunity for a legitimate Islamism." They see this as a victory. The problem is, so do the terrorists. Last year, the White House began peddling the line that the uprisings in the Middle East were a repudiation of the Al Qaeda model of seeking change through terrorism. The argument was that while America opposed violent extremism, the rise of nonviolent radical movements was just fine, and even commendable. Al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahri quickly dismissed this claim, saying that from the terrorists' point of view, it didn't matter whether an Islamist victory came through violence or n ...

summer 2011, Nuland became the State Department Spokesperson. She was declared a "consummate professional who proved that Foreign Service officers could be trusted to put professionalism over politics."[2] She was Ambassador of the United States to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization from 2005 to 2008. As NATO Ambassador, she focused heavily on strengthening Allied support for the Afghanistan war, on NATO-Russia issues, and on the Alliance’s global partnerships and continued enlargement. A career Foreign Service officer, she was Principal Deputy National Security Advisor to Vice President Cheney from July 2003 until May 2005, where she worked on the full range of global issues, including those relating to Iraq, Afghanistan, Lebanon and the broader Middle East.
