Fun fact: Of the pro teams in the four major U.S. sports only seven have a nickname that does not end with the letter s, and none of them are football teams. Baseball has the Boston Red Sox and Chicago White Sox, hockey has the Colorado Avalanche, and basketball has the Orlando Magic, Miami Heat, and Utah Jazz.
Lol ... Remember him? Shaquille O'Neal - former LA Lakers player who starred in select movies too - Steel (1997), Kazaam (1996), Blue Chips (1994). Shaquille O'Neal is regarded as one of the most dominant athletes and arguably the most gregarious personality in sports history. He wrote an autobiography (Shaq Talks Back), preserves an online presence for his fan base and produced a number of albums (Biological Didn't Bother, Shaq-Fu: Da Return, etc.), and starred in select movies (Steel (1997), Kazaam (1996), Blue Chips (1994)). He has played for 4 NBA teams: the Orlando Magic, the Los Angeles Lakers, the Miami Heat, the Phoenix Suns, and currently the Cleveland Cavaliers. O'Neal graduated from Louisiana State University and is the only current NBA player with an MBA (Master of Business Administration). Shaq is also one of the few NBA players in history to reach the NBA Finals with three different teams. His charisma on and off the court helped create a worldwide reputation as "Godfather of the NBA." As a ...
HELLO ON A WEDNESDAY EVENING: Layne Sours with you on a rainy cool night here in Coldwater Michigan, how is your week going? Sure everyone heard the scoop on the Detroit Pistons? Stan Van Gundy former Miami Heat, and Orlando Magic coach signing a 5 year, 35 million contract today to become the Pistons team president, and new Head Coach. Pistons owner Tom Gores was not going to settle with s lesser name in this hire, and went all out securing Van Gundy. This hire sent vibes throughout the NBA, many applauding Gores hire of Van Gundy, while Charles Barkley NBA announcer attacked the hire, saying the Pistons were low lifes of the NBA, and why Van Gundy would bother to take on such a mess. Gores hired Van Gundy knowing several teams were after his services, other organizations were looking to hire Van Gundy as only a Head Coach, so Gores went all out in this hire giving Van Gundy pretty much full control over player personal. Pistons once a proud organization, but have suffered through hard times for the last ...
Let's break down Stan Van Gundy history for those who are unfamiliar. People seem to want to clown this man for his last two coaching stints. In the words of EverybodyHatez Kris and Chayse E. Walker, allow me to direct some of yall to the kitchen. The first team he inherited, he had some players that wouldn't play for him. He had a DIVA center in Shaq. He took them to the Eastern Conference championship and they lost against the Pistons, the defending champs. He was fired by Pat Riley, who eventually took over the job and won the title. I don't think ANYONE should be condemned for that. Pat Riley of all people is the won who took that Miami Heat to a title, not some random coach. In his second coaching stint , he went to the NBA finals with the Orlando Magic and lost to Phil Jackson and the Lakers. I do not think I need to explain anymore right there. He also had ANOTHER DIVA center in Dwight Howard, one who was trying to get this man ushered out of the building. Stan Van Gundy coaches BOTH offense and de ...

Here are our FREE NBA tips and analysis for Thursday! Orlando Magic – 3.5 – Sportsbet - $1.91 - 1.25 Stakes The Orlando Magic (8-17, 5-6 home) are matched up against the Utah Jazz (6-21, 3-11 away) at home in the Amway Center, Orlando. Jameer Nelson has been productive as of late averaging over 6 assists per game whilst fellow teammate, Aaron Afflalo has been scoring 21.6 points per match. The Utah Jazz have no significant injuries to report on and the Orlando Magic will be without PF Glen Davis in today’s match-up, however welcoming back Tobias Harris at the 4 spot should see increased production on both the rebounding and defensive ends of the floor. We don’t see this being indicative of how the overall result will be end up though. The Jazz are coming off a hard loss to the Miami Heat and prior to that the San Antonio Spurs. Gordon Hayward has stepped up his game and as of late is averaging 16.9 points this season. Look for PG Trey Burke to be aggressive early on in game coming off a 3 point, . ...

San Antonio's victory ensured they stayed ahead of the Portland Trail Blazers in the Western Conference as the latter also won, knocking off the Golden State Warriors 113-101. Pacers, Warriors have six each on All-Star ballot The Indiana Pacers and Golden State Warriors each have a league-high six players on the NBA All-Star ballot released Friday. Indiana’s six are guards George Hill and Lance Stephenson and frontcourt players Paul George, Danny Granger, Roy Hibbert and David West. Granger has yet to play this season due to injury. Golden State’s six are guards Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson and frontcourt players Harrison Barnes, Andrew Bogut, Andre Iguodala and David Lee. Barnes is a sixth man. There is just one rookie on the ballot, and it’s not Philadelphia 76ers guard Michael Carter-Williams. It is Orlando Magic guard Victor Oladipo, who was the preseason choice of many media members for Rookie of the Year but does not start on his own team. The only teams with three guards are the Miami Heat and Los Angeles Clippers. Eight teams have five players. More significantly, 13 teams have just three, including the Los Angeles Lakers and Oklahoma City Thunder. The 120 play ...

Daily trivial knowledge: Out of the four biggest sports in the US (NFL, NHL, NBA, MLB), there are only 9 teams whose names don't end in the letter "s". Shaquille Rashaun O'Neal (/ʃəˈkiːl/ shə-KEEL; born March 6, 1972), nicknamed Shaq (/ˈʃæk/ SHAK), is an American retired basketball player, former rapper and current analyst on the television program Inside the NBA. Standing 7 ft 1 in (2.16 m) tall and weighing 325 pounds (147 kg), he was one of the heaviest players ever to play in the NBA. Throughout his 19-year career, O'Neal used his size and strength to overpower opponents for points and rebounds. Following his career at Louisiana State University, O'Neal was drafted by the Orlando Magic with the first overall pick in the 1992 NBA Draft. He quickly became one of the top centers in the league, winning Rookie of the Year in 1992–93 and later leading his team to the 1995 NBA Finals. After four years with the Magic, O'Neal signed as a free agent with the Los Angeles Lakers. He won three consecutive championships in 2000, 2001, and 2002. Amid tension between O'Neal and Kobe Bryant, O'Neal was traded to the Miami Heat in 2004, and his fourth N ...
Lebron James Disagrees With Michael Jordan’s Scouting Report on Him Three months ago, Michael Jordan famously told the world that the only way to slow down Lebron James is to force him left and hope he shoots a jumpshot. The Indiana Pacers tried this strategy last night in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals, and well, things didn’t quite work out for them. James says MJ has it wrong, and the numbers back LeBron up. Per ESPN: “‘So if I have to guard him,’ Jordan said. ‘I’m gonna push him left so nine times out of 10, he’s gonna shoot a jump shot. If he goes right, he’s going to the hole and I can’t stop him. So I ain’t letting him go right.’ That reached James’ ears and, simply, he doesn’t agree. Within days of the story coming out, James won a game by driving to his left and getting to the rim with 3.2 seconds left to beat the Orlando Magic for what then was then the Miami Heat’s 16th consecutive victory. James did it again Wednesday night, when he drove left as Indiana ...

(GMT+1) 01:30 h Basketball » USA » NBA » Miami Heat - Orlando Magic TIP : Lebron James under -27,5 @ 1.90 q. on : 4/10 info : Two days ago, I was also given a prognosis related to under Lebron James, given the opponent I decided to try one more time. In Minneapolis, he played 35 minutes during which he scored 20 points with 9/16 shot of the game, and collected, ten rebounds and four assists. Did not act as if it too bothered by a knee injury, but I'm sure that would have played a lot less that the Heat had a better result. True, James was the first match this season with the Magic finished on 36 points, but he played 48 minutes (overtime), and I do not think tonight's game will be so uncertain. Heat can certainly do a record 16th consecutive wins without James big parties, at least as far as points. Against inferior opponents is more devoted and most such playoff game ends in near triple-doublea type 20 +10 +10. How Spoelstra has at its disposal all the players expected to grant to sit their best playe ...

Must-See Matchups for today: -Miami Heat at Orlando Magic- The two Florida teams clash right now. The Heat look to get back on track, while the Magic seek some consistency. -Atlanta Hawks at Houston Rockets- The frontcourt of Al Horford and Josh Smith will be important for the Hawks tonight. The backcourt of Jeremy Lin and James Harden is vital for the Rockets. -Brooklyn Nets at San Antonio Spurs- Deron Williams and Tony Parker, two elite Point Guards, will determine the outcome of the game. With so much talent on both rosters, this game is a must see before the year ends. Have a happy and safe New Year's Eve! -Jordan23

Utah Jazz , Orlando Magic , Miami Heat && Oklahoma City Thunder are the only teams in the NBA that DO NOT HAVE A "S" ! STOP ADDING IT
If i was to pick a nba team based on states i have been to it would be among Miami Heat, Orlando Magic, Chicago Bulls, Charlotte Bobcats, New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets. Been to New York the most mainly Brooklyn so i would naturally become a Brooklyn Nets fan. Why am I a Kobe Laker fan? Was a Michael Jordan Chicago Bulls fan, MJ retired then everybody compared Kobe to MJ so i became a Kobe Laker fan. So that justifies everything. Still want to visit Los Angeles one day.
Orlando Magic won last night against Detroit Piston and Miami Heat won too. Miami Heat and Orlando Magic is good game :)
Eight blocks by the Miami Heat tonight. Eight blocks by the Orlando Magic on Friday night. And eleven blocks by the Sixers on Halloween.
Out of the blue got a call from a Los Angeles radio staton wanting to talk about the history of Canadian hoops in realtionship to NBA. Every so often various media outlets contact me for such as yours truly is considered a Canadian basketball historian and have written on such for the NBA over the many years. They caught me off guard with one question though, asking to name the current eight Canadians ready to suit up in opening night action tonight in NBA. Forgot one of the eight listed here: Joel Anthony, Miami Heat; Samuel Dalembert, Milwaukee Bucks; Cory Joseph, San Antonio Spurs; Kris Joseph, Boston Celtics; Steve Nash, Los Angeles Lakers; Andrew Nicholson, Orlando Magic; Robert Sacre, Los Angeles Lakers; Tristan Thompson, Cleveland Cavaliers But a quick question. The game has not happened yet so is it part of history? So in that I forgot, I never really knew yet as it did not happen?
The Miami Heat is awesome and the Orlando Magic ***

Oklahoma Thunder, Orlando Magic, Miami Heat. Only teams with no S at the end of the name.
Oh, Yea! NBA coming to this season next month. First of all, Miami Heat got first preseason against my old favorite team Orlando Magic. Until, who i gonna choose my favorite team? and I choose, my favorite Miami Heat :)
All you dumb people who don't know crap about the NBA, shutup. The Lakers won't win 2012-2013 just cause they gy Steve Nash or Dwight Howard. They are crap. Have they won a ring or MVP? NO. well Steve Nash maybe once. This is why Dwight has haters now for frickiing leaving the Orlando Magic. I hate this. Dwight your gonna be a third wheel in the Lakers just like Bosh was a third wheel in the Miami Heat. (no hating on bosh ur great) Thanks Nash and Howard for messing up the NBA. Oh yes and Ray Allen good job coming to the Heat. You knew that you would win a Championship with us! Thaaanks Dwight, Ray, and Nash. •~•
I dont want to be like the Orlando Magic! All Miami Dolphins had to do was keep Brandon Marshall..Bring in Chad Johnson...So now you have 2 Game Changer receviers on both sides of the field or how ever you want to use them. You have Reggie Bush as running back. It would of been nice if Miami Dolphins would of had Ricky Williams but no you used him all up all these years and never got him any help. You Currently have a young QB in tenahill and others all you got to do is wait till next draft and get a Game Changer.. And then for the next 2 years work on Offensive line and Defensive line. Must I be the Miami Dolphins Coach myself or do you need Pat Railey to show you how to Make a team. Why be like Orlando Magic and why be like Charlotte Bob Cats. Reggie Bush is not going to be around for that long Miami Dolphins Management. Lets step on the gas and lets get back to winning..The Miami Heat will be Best team in NBA for the next 3 years. Learn from the Miami Heat!
Teams I hate in the NBA: 1. Miami Heat 2. New York Knicks 3. Los Angeles Lakers. Note to the Orlando Magic: You are no longer on this for you no longer have Dwight Howard. Congratulations.
Teams in order of best to worst in Florida. Miami Heat, Tampa Bay Rays, Florida Panthers, Miami Marlins, Tampa Bay Lightning, Miami Dolphins, Orlando Magic. Must suck to be the worst team in Florida eh Magic?
The US team had been hit by a recent rash of injuries to several leading candidates, including Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls, Dwight Howard of the Orlando Magic and the Miami Heat players Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh.
This Year 2013 That my frist time team Miami Heat, I watch Orlando Magic all time and Bulls too
Miami Heat just offered Orlando Magic Norris Cole, Joel Anthony, Rashard Lewis, and 2 future first round picks for Dwight Howard! OMG!
Miami Heat are killin' it with their roster revamp!! I'm convinced that Orlando Magic are the Bizarro Heat
I am following the NBA Free Agency & all seems that Dwight Howard from the Orlando Magic would become New York NETS ( which sounds better than Brooklyn Nets by the way). I hope that this deal goes through. Good Luck Nets in this endeavor. Poor New York Knicks now besides the Miami Heat & other teams, now you have to worry about the Nets. So, Sorry NY Knicks! It seems that your journey towards the NBA PLAYOFFS gets harder & harder every year.
Jordan Hill is being courted by the Los Angeles Lakers, Golden State Warriors, Minnesota Timberwolves, Miami Heat, and Orlando Magic.
Sports update for today... The Brooklyn Nets and Orlando Magic are discussing a deal that would send Dwight Howard to the Nets for Brook Lopez, MarShon Brooks, Kris Humphries and the Nets' first-round picks in 2013, 2015, and 2017. [ESPN] The Phoenix Suns are considering entering an offer sheet to New Orleans Hornets guard Eric Gordon worth $58 million over 4 years. [ESPN] The Brooklyn Nets hope to have a decision on Point Guard Deron Williams' future within the next 24-48 hours. [Yahoo! Sports] The Phoenix Suns have reportedly offered Point Guard Steve Nash a two-year, $12 million deal. [KTAR Radio] Miami Heat owner Micky Arison says the team will likely lose money this year, despite having won the NBA Championship. [CNBC] Orlando Magic general manager Rob Hennigan says that centre Dwight Howard has re-issued his trade request. Howard says that he will only sign a long-term deal with the team he is traded to if it's the Brooklyn Nets. [Yahoo! Sports] The Atlanta Hawks have agreed to trade forward Marvin ...
The Miami Heat have ceased to be the hot basketball topic in Florida now that a report has surfaced indicating Dwight Howard once again wants to leave the Orlando Magic. FREE FOR ALL The NBA's top 10 free agents include some all-time greats. Howard's preference is a trade to the Brooklyn Nets, according to ESPN. That's the same team that was presumed last season to be in the lead for his services, either through Free Agency or a trade, before Howard opted in on the final year of his deal with Orlando on March 15. The Magic confirmed Howard, 26, met with new general manager Rob Hennigan on Friday but did not offer details of the substance of the conversation. The ESPN report said Hennigan was noncommittal when Howard asked to be traded to Brooklyn. Howard is recovering from season-ending back surgery in April. He averaged 20.6 points and led the NBA with 14.5 rebounds a game last season. He has spent all eight years of his NBA career with the Magic, who drafted him No. 1 overall out of high school in 2004.
Dwight Howard is a punk. Dangling himself as a sort of supernatural (Superman is somehow his nickname, though Shaquille O'Neal has the Superman tattoo, 4 championships, an MVP season, and is bigger and better than Dwight will ever be) . Franchise piece. costing a wonderful Orlando Magic organization two years of wishy-washy, flippy floppy energy. The team built around him to reach the NBA finals 3 years ago... and have committed everything to keeping him. The fans have loved him. He was possibly the best player in that young organization's history. Now Orlando is left with nothing, as MR Howard chooses the Bright Lights (are you kidding?) of Brooklyn... (nuff said) to pair with Deron Williams, another veteran guard who can't get near a championship. Those new "Brookyln Nets" ... complete with a Jay-Z ownership (Oh No.. ) and a brand new arena (Your hardwood is nicer than ours...) Won;t do squat next season. As a lifelong fan a basketball, I assure you. They are akin to the 2010 Miami Heat. Yet not even ...
I'll kick ya *** wit Miami Heat or the 94'-95' Orlando Magic wit Penny on 2k any day.
While the Miami Heat are celebrating, the Orlando Magic are starting the foundation of assembling a championship caliber organization
Giving a shout out to the Miami Heat for winning the NBA title. But, must coment that OKC gave up when they had a chance to tie or take the lead. They are just young but they will be back. Now if only the Orlando Magic could win one then Florida would rule. I am just saying.
Call me a hater but I hate the Miami Heat as much as I love the Orlando Magic. Wonder how the Heat would have done if Derek Rose or Dwight Howard had not gotten hurt. Won't be watching EPSN for a few days. BO HEAT!
Well, well, well, Thunder lost :( LeBron finally won a ring. I must say, he played his *** off this season. The man is nice; played much better than previous years. So with that being said, CONGRATULATIONS to the Miami Heat. 2011-2012 NBA season was indeed AMAZING. Can't wait til next year. The ORLANDO MAGIC & Oklahoma City Thunder will be back BETTER!!! (:
Well Lebron, Dwayne, Bosh, Miller, Chalmers all had terrific games. Miami Heat are now the 2012 NBA Champs. So proud of the way they played. Of course I don't know what I'll do if Orlando Magic makes the playoffs next year.(They will have to change a lot for that to happan). Anyway great job Miami - enjoy the victory!
I was wondering where all these Miami Heat fans have been coming from over the past few years. Than I realized, they've been here all along, they were just disguised as Orlando Magic fans.go thunder.
I don’t have a favorite NBA team. Haven’t for about 10 years now. My aunt(who got me into sports), was a fan of the Orlando Magic, led by Point Guard Anfernee “Penny” Hardaw...
Miami Heat won, the Celtics are too old to play...and the Orlando Magic don't have a prayer of being in the playoffs in the near future. Oh, well, I'm ready for some football!
95% of the Orlando Magic fans whos Hating on the Miami Heat sreaming Boston. SMDH.
to all you Miami Heat fans out there, SUCK IT Which brings to light an interesting and very humorous topic in my eyes. the lack of imagination associated with the naming of the sports teams in Florida. Miami heat, hot in Miami? duh. Orlando Magic, the MAGIC of disney? FSU Seminoles, Florida Gators, Florida Marlins, Miami Dolphins, tampa Bay Bucaneers, Miami Hurricanes. just goes to show that the Floridian imagination needs some expanding. not like those georgians who named thier baseball team after a group of people that were forced from thier homes and made to walk thousands of miles! now thats sensativity ;)
Pacers are officially in the post season. Great year! The Pacers finished the regular season as the number 3 seed in the Eastern Conference with a record of 42-24 (.636), the fifth-best winning percentage in franchise history. In the first round of the playoffs, they defeated the Orlando Magic by a tally of 4 games to 1. In the second round, they took a 2 games to 1 lead over the Miami Heat before eventually falling in 6 games.
Ok good evening all, Im going off the political topic today, but the Divas them being the Miami Heat won Game 4 all cause Jester Wade and Queen James decided to show up and play today. Im hoping the Spurs take out the LA Clippers tonight so another piece of my square can be booted out of the playoffs. The first part of the square is gone that was the other Diva laced team in FL the Orlando Magic. With or Without Dwight Howard the big Diva there folllwed by his sidekick the other diva himself Jameer Nelson..
On Mike & Mike On ESPN radio today they were discussing the possibility of the Dwight Howard going to play for the Miami Heat. If they did this the Heat would give up Dwayne Wade & Chris Bosh for Dwight. They would only do this if they can't win a championship this year. So the question is: Would you rather have Lebron James & Dwight Howard, or D Wade, James and Bosh. I think having Howard in the middle would be invaluable, so I would tend to go with Howard and James talent wise, but they both have questionable character. They are both self-Centered egotistical jerks. I used to think Dwight Howard was a great loveable guy, but the way he screwed over my Orlando Magic this year trying to decide to stay with the team or not, I have a whole new opinion of him. In the end I hope Indiana trashes Miami in the playoffs! They are up 2-1 in the series so far! :-)
Congratulations to the Indiana Pacers after they knocked the Orlando Magic out of the playoffs and advanced to the second round tonight. I really like this team. Next up: Lebron James, Dwayne Wade and the Miami Heat (probably). Being the underdog can be good. GO PACERS!

Eastern Conference: 1 seed Bulls vs 8 seed Philly 76ers (Bulls in 5 games); 4 seed Celtics vs 5 seed ATL Hawks (Boston in 6 games); 3 seed Indiana Pacers vs 6 seed Orlando Magic (Pacers in 4 games...it's a sweep!); 2 seed Miami Heat vs 7 seed NY Knicks (Miami Heat in 6 games) I know some experts are picking the Knicks as the upset special of the first round.but I don't see it. I believe the Heat getting to finals to face the Spurs. We shall see though.it's the best time of year for me. Can't wait!!
I have committed a sin today. As a full Orlando Magic fan, i went to a Miami Heat game and had fun. However I was the only one in the arena who got excited when Courtney Lee (former Magic player) blocked Lebron but they called it a foul.
