Manhattan Garden City Updated about 6 months ago Manhattan Garden City!!! (Cubao Araneta Center) The Manhattan Garden City at the Araneta Center in Cubao, Quezon City is your key to a life of fun in Metro Manila. They claim to be the country’s first transit-oriented development (although other Philippine property developers may contest that), linking all of its 20 residential condominium towers to the metro’s fast, traffic-free train system. The Araneta Center is at the meeting point of two train systems: the LRT2 along Aurora Boulevard, and the MRT3 along EDSA. The Manhattan Garden City is the first and only residential project connected to both lines. In other words, you are just a quick stroll away from transportation that will bring you to major destinations north, south, east, and west of Metro Manila. The LRT2 links you from Santolan, Pasig to Recto Avenue in Manila. The MRT3 runs from North Avenue to Taft Avenue along EDSA. Both lines connect with the LRT1 which travels from Monumento in Calooc ...

GMA NEWS: NOV. 27, 2013 POEA resumes serving OFWs in Yolanda-hit Tacloban Good news for overseas Filipino workers who are from Tacloban City, one of the areas hit hardest by Super Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan)—the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration has reopened its office there. POEA administrator Hans Leo Cacdac on Wednesday said the POEA office in Tacloban managed to process four OFWs on Tuesday, the first time since Yolanda devastated the city last Nov. 8. POEA's Tacloban City office was forced to stop operations since Nov. 8, when Yolanda battered the Eastern Visayas and Southern Luzon, leaving over 5,500 people dead and thousands more displaced. While the POEA office in Tacloban City was closed, OFWs in Eastern Visayas were asked to have their documents processed in at least seven of the agency's other offices, including in Legazpi, Cebu, or Metro Manila. Disaster officials had earlier said businesses have normalized in Tacloban City, noting that 12 banks have resumed operations and public-ut ...

MANILA (22 Nov 2013) – Philippine National AIDS Council (PNAC) wishes to inform partners in the national HIV and AIDS response that the 2013 HIV Summit will be rescheduled in the first quarter of next year. The gathering of national and local, public and private sector leaders was originally set on 13 December. The Summit was deferred after the issuance of Department of Health Memorandum 0329-2013, which suspended trainings, seminars and conferences in order to mobilize health officials and personnel to aid relief and recovery efforts in the wake of Super Typhoon Yolanda (international codename: Haiyan). The Memo followed after declaration of a national state of calamity under Proclamation No. 684, series 2013. The tropical cyclone also affected Metro Cebu, Bacolod and Iloilo, which are major urban areas in the Visayas prioritized in the Fifth AIDS Medium-Term Plan (AMTP), the 2011-2016 Philippine strategy to halt the spread of HIV. These together with Metro Manila, its Southern Tagalog neighbors, ...
Finally back in Metro Manila. Flight was delayed with all the air traffic related to the relief operations for the survivors of super typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda). Even traffic on the streets near the airport was bad, since the NAIA 3 is so near Villamor Air Base where both evacuees and relief goods are processed. Nina Dacanay, Carlo Diño, and Nina's parents--our companions in Dumaguete who went home to Metro Mana three days earlier--had their flight diverted to Clark Field all the way in Pampanga. But these small inconveniences we gladly suffer if it means giving way to relief efforts in the disaster zone.

A SPECIAL REPORT International Press Release By: (name of proponent withheld) Metro Manila , Philippines HYDROGEN from Water was predicted by Jules Verne in 1874 to be the fuel of the future. During World War II, Germany used V-2 Rocket Bombs propelled by HYDROGEN. Now, Dr. Jacob Bigeleisen discovered that at room temperature or under atmospheric condition, DEUTERIUM ATOMS are electrolyzed naturally out of water in the form of HYDROGEN gas. This natural phenomenal process needs no expensive electric power consuming electrolysis to artificially separate HYDROGEN from OXYGEN in Water. What is DEUTERIUM? Deuterium is HEAVY WATER or HYDROGEN WATER without oxygen. This is obtained from the deep trenches of the World and the World’s largest DEPOSIT OF DEUTERIUM is IN THE PHILIPPINES – A big deposit of 868 miles long, 52 miles at widest point, and 3 miles at deepest point, replenished by nature 24 hours a day after Deuterium traveled more than 12,000 kilometers from Central America to the Philippines through ...

ATTENTION: Secretary Dinky Soliman Department of Social Welfare and Development There is an Exodus of people to Metro Manila which was devastated by Super Typhoon Yolanda from the provinces of Leyte, the Samar provinces, Iloilo, Capiz, etc. They are looking for jobs, majority of them are farm workers, some are fishermen, they have nowhere to go, they have no relatives in Metro Manila. Thanks to the Philippine Navy ships and other means who brought them here. As I do my daily exercises and brisk walking at the baywalk this morning at 4:30 AM, I saw them and I even talk to them, and I pity them. Do you want to see them? THEY ARE SCATTERED IN BAYWALK Roxas Boulevard, they sleep there, they beg for food, they eat there. Oh my God, the stench will drive you crazy. Pictures will be posted tonight. Defining moment SKETCHES By Ana Marie Pamintuan (The Philippine Star) | Updated November 15, 2013 - 12:00am That image of people scaling a warehouse of the National Food Authority in Alangalang, Leyte looked like a scene straight out of zombie movie “World War Z.” Eight people died in that stampede for rice. The image will haunt the Aquino administration, which is smarting from criticism that its response to Super Typhoon Yolanda or Haiyan and its aftermath has been as disastrous as the disaster itself. To be fair, the weather bureau gave sufficient warning several days in advance. PAGASA couldn’t predict the storm surge (who can?) but it did track the maximum wind speed of Haiyan. Those who choose to ignore a tropical cyclone barreling toward their communities at 315 kilometers per hour must live with the consequences. For perspective, consider the wind velocity of some of the worst typhoons to hit Metro Manila: Ondoy moved at 167 kph max, Milenyo at 232 kph and Yoling (November 1970) at 200 kph. A ...

Feed The Hungry, Inc. Description: FtH became a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that reached out to street children in the Philippines and provided them a good meal during the Christmas holidays. As the program progressed each year with the help of a group of Filipino-American volunteers residing in the metropolitan Washington, D.C. area and a number of World Bank Group and IMF Filipino staff doing fund-raising events within the community, FtH evolved into an organization with programs geared not only to feeding malnourished children and giving gifts, but had expanded to include educational programs providing scholarships and books including textbooks, livelihood and infrastructure programs building classrooms, and calamity relief and emergency medical assistance. Today, Feed the Hungry, Inc. volunteers are involved in numerous projects that have assisted over a million program beneficiaries in all of the provinces in the Philippines and Metro Manila. I keep on asking myself this question: are we too Manila-centric? In the past when Ondoy unleashed its wrath in Metro Manila, we saw live TV coverage for days. We saw how Kris Aquino, Boy Abunda, Mel Tiangco, and other personalities call on different corporations, organizations, and government agencies to act and help the victims. We saw how a primetime telethon by the country's two biggest networks raised hundreds of millions. Back then, we didn't wait too long to act. Compare that to the current situation: (1) yes, we have telethons on TV, but the big guns were not brought in; (2) yes, we have coverage, but only in selected areas and as disappointing as it may seem--in Mikaela Papa's words--the media is business as usual, it almost seems like they're just there to cover and nothing else; (3) it's the 4th day and the victims are still not given the help they so badly need. Most of my friends are in Metro Manila, and I know we can't all go to the affected areas to help, but I hope we can use social media ...

I'm just so thankful to God that Metro Manila was not that affected by the typhoon. I just can't imagine what would happen if it hit us.🙏🙏
Yes Tito, all good in Metro Manila. Not so much affected as the Visayas. We feel bad for our countrymen.
More than 905,253 families or 4,082,104 individuals in 36 provinces were affected by Typhoon “Yolanda” (international codename: Haiyan), prompting President Aquino to order the creation of command posts outside Metro Manila to oversee relief operations.
Metro Manila, we have been spared. It’s time to give back to those who werent. You know what to do.
It was very heartbreaking to see people who are very sad and crying when they are being interviewed by the reporters, the man who is carrying his deceased daughter , the dead ones who is being recovered, I don't know, all I know is that i can't watch the television anymore :'(, I can't watch the victims of that catastrophic event anymore :'( I'm just thankful to God that Yolanda did not landfall near in the vicinity of Metro Manila. but still my prayers will be sent to the victims, hope that you/we will rise again just keep your hopes and prayers and God will do the rest "BAGYO KA LANG PILIPINO KAMI !"
As I watch TV about the aftermath of typhoon Yolanda, I had mixed emotions. although I reside in Metro Manila, still, I could feel sorry for myself because I could not do anything except to pray or to donate...

I'm glad that Metro Manila had clear skies earlier and good thing that my area is clear. I have not stocked on food in my pad but drinking water. Now on to the more interesting stuff, just did a little grocery for some instant food and I am going to have a lock down, lazy Sunday and stay focus on Ms. Universe tomorrow.
My heart is breaking while watching todays news, the typhoon Yolanda's aftermath had brought so much destruction to the lives of our kababayan in the Visayas region. Churches built on rocks, supposed to serve as refuge for many, were even damaged. People were trapped and died in their own houses. Even the members of the media, were emotional while sharing their stories. Lord you showed me how fortunate we are, that you spare Metro Manila from this catastrophe. My heart goes to all my beloved fellowmen. God be with us all.

Count down 3days to go. We never meant to be a couple... no courtship actually happened...yah you heard it right! He never courted me! He is not sweet remember. More of constant arguments and debate...about work, life, people..and anything and everything that can be argued about... I remember when at one point he got mad at me thinking I failed to record a certain news program and he thought I forgot and dropped the tape on my table with force... I got so angry that when I saw that it is the wrong tape... I threw it back to him saying " kasi hindi po yan yun ni record ko" and walk out of the office decided to resign right there and then...I did the next day...but he did not accepted and apologize for his temper. That is when we agreed to be civil to one another and be more professional and not let our differences affect our work... The year 2009 was the year of reckoning in our country in terms of dealing with extreme weather events brought about by climate change. It was on Sept 26, 2009 when Ondoy, internationally known as Tropical Storm Ketsana, brought a month’s equivalent of rain in just 6 hours. Those 6 hours of rainfall overwhelmed flood control facilities and brought unimaginable chaos in Metro Manila. The damage was estimated to be close to US$4 billion or equivalent to 2.7% of our GDP based on a World Bank study, making it the costliest disaster thus far. This brought the level of discussion on climate change to the steps of Congress and on that same year, the Climate Change Act was passed and signed into law in December 2009. Despite this, people still asked: Why did this happen? How can these happen? And will this happen again? Almost a week after Ondoy, a category 4 typhoon called Pepeng, internationally known as TS Parma, approached the country. Even before we could make sense of what just happened, the country wa ...

pls take time to read PRAY IT WON'T HAPPEN List of fault line in Philippines The United Nations is advising the Philippines to be ready for an upcoming big earthquake. A quake with a magnitude of 7.2 or higher on the Richter scale is sure to hit Metro Manila, they say, but the bigger question is when exactly this will happen. The Earthquakes and Megacities Initiative (EMI) report published in 2004 predicts that an earthquake with a high magnitude will surely occur because of the Philippine Fault Zone (also called the Marikina Valley Fault System), but experts can't predict when this disaster may happen. According to the report, the death toll may reach about 35,000, some 145,000 people may be injured while around 175,000 buildings will be damaged. Where exactly is the West Marikina Valley Fault Line? It lies northeast of Manila and traverses Marikina, Pasig going to Muntinlupa down to the south. Instead of being afraid and all panicky, we should make sure we are ready should an earthquake happen. And fo . ...

HISTORY OF DWNE 20th of October year 1982 was the marker of the start of DWNE Radio Station when the late former Provincial Governor Eduardo “Tatang” Joson bought the station, at that time, DWNI Radio Station along with its license of franchise and the permission to broadcast from the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) under the representation of Fiorello B. Estuan, the NIA Administrator that time. Before the transaction happened, the NIA-UPRIS (National Irrigation Administration – Upper Pampanga River Irrigation System) under the Public Affairs and Information Services, made the DWNI Radio Station an elusive instrument in spreading the progressive news pertaining to the agriculture in the form of the programs that meets the need of the farmers in the province, one of the programs was heard not only by the farmers of Nueva Ecija but also by the farmers living in the near – provinces in Central Luzon and in various parts of Metro Manila. The smooth operation of DWNI was affected by the short ...

Liquefaction feared in Metro Manila WEAK buildings and houses along coastal areas in Metro Manila and nearby provinces may disintegrate or cave in due to liquefaction after a massive earthquake, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) once again said. Liquefaction is the process by which wet sediment starts to behave like liquid. It occurs because of the increased pore pressure and reduced effective stress between solid particles generated by the presence of liquid. It is often caused by severe shaking, especially that associated with earthquakes. Phivolcs director Renato Solidum Jr. has again reminded Filipinos, especially those living in liquefaction-prone areas to build strong houses and buildings for this could happen after a massive earthquake. Solidum issued this reminder after the 7.2 magnitude earthquake hit the cities of Tagbilaran and Cebu, killing more than a hundred and displacing thousands of people. Considered prone to liquefaction are coastal areas in the cities of ...

UK's entry for best foreign language film in next year's Oscars is ''Metro Manila'' YUN OH! :))
Movie Wednesday! Watched three movies today. A veritable triple feature. "Arthur Newman", "Escape Plan", and "Metro Manila". Firstly lets talk about "Metro Manila", as it felt like the standout film out of the three. As per my fears, there were no subtitles, which was a hard sell since I know only a tiny bit of Tagalog. But the actors acted this movie well enough, so I got a sense of what the plot was about. Oscar (played by Jake Macapagal) is a farmer from the province, who left the city life to raise a family. With his crop not producing enough money for his family (Something like "You want more money, or a place to live?), he decides it's time to return to the city to support his wife and two children. After getting swindled into illegally squatting, getting evicted by the government, and his wife finding a job as a GRO (Guest Relations Officer, or more commonly known as a "bargirl"); he finds himself a job as a rookie armored car guard under the care of Ong (John Arcilla). But Oscar sees that not ever ...
Mother's milk is still best for babies specially for those who suffer poverty and no resources to buy formula. Sorry for the formula. There are two functions of the breast of a woman number one is for feeding the babies and number to is for "pahiyas" like decoration only the father appreciates it.The essence of a woman is to bare a child and bring a new born baby into the world. You see after giving birth the pain and the stress disappear and the feeling of new experience starts. God created man in His on image and He let Adam have dominion over all those created living things INCLUDING HIMSELF. When God said "humayo kayo at magpakarami." God did not stop there, continue reading and He said "at kalatan nyo ang lupa."Like in Metro Manila its over populated and you see crimes increased and pollution and traffic so forth and so on. We have plenty of lands available, move out and scatter and lets maximize our resources. Family planning or the Reproductive health bill is on Supreme Court hand, so it up to the . ...

Our rich and fertile lands in thousands of hectares are left abandoned with no farmers tilling it and only tall useless grasses grow where snakes, insects hide. Aging farmers are left to cultivate farms because their young sons and daughters go to cities to seek greener pastures only end up living under bridges and squatter areas in Metro Manila. Yet many are hungry and some even dying due hunger and malnutrition and diseases because they have no food to eat because they can't afford skyrocketing prices of rice still buy sibuyas, kamatis, luy-a, tanglad, sibuyas, atsal etc. when they can plant it in their backyards. Our educational system don't even teach modern farming and the love of farming because they teach Pinoys to become good looking and neat and desente like Piolo Pascual, Anne Curtis, Tom Babauta, Angel Locsin etc.

In the Philippines, the Philippine ZIP code is used by the Philippine Postal Corporation (Philpost) to simplify the distribution of mail. While in function it is similar to the ZIP code used in the United States, its form and its usage is quite different. The use of ZIP codes in the Philippines is not mandatory, however it is highly recommended by Philpost that they be used. Also, unlike American ZIP codes, the Philippine code is a four-digit number representing two things: in Metro Manila, a barangay within a city or city district (as in the case for Manila), and outside Metro Manila, a town or city. Usually, more than one code is issued for areas within Metro Manila, and provincial areas are issued one code for every town and city, though there are some rare exceptions, one example is Dasmariñas, which has 3 ZIP codes, 4114, 4115, and 4126. This article provides a list of Philippine ZIP codes. Cities that have become independent of the province are listed under the province they used to be part of (as ...

How Will Maring Floods Affect Real Estate in Metro Manila? The recent flooding brought about by tropical storm Maring has paralyzed the Philippine capital and businessmen are bracing themselves for its economic impact. Up until today, the business sector was very optimistic about the country's economy. With its record-breaking 7.8% growth during the first quarter, the Philippines has become the newest darling of global investors--with the robust real estate industry being one of its main drivers. However, with Maring's aftermath, many have raised concerns on its effect on the economy, specifically on the real estate sector. Will prices remain stable? Can floods deter the booming industry? Will positive forecasts still remain? Though it is still too early to say, here's a short preliminary analysis and rundown of plausible scenarios showing the effect of Maring on the industry. Commercial Market City flooding might not have a massive impact on all the office markets. Most of the buildings in the city are d ...
THE bad news: flu bug hits Petron. The good news: the Blaze Boosters have all the time in the world to rest and recover. Lady Luck seems to be finally smiling on Petron, a star-studded team that has underachieved for much of the season while being buffeted by one bad break after another. One case in point: star player Arwind Santos suffered from tonsillitis and had to skip practice for two days. The viral infection soon spread, affecting June Mar Fajardo, Jason Deustchman, and import Elijah Millsap. Fortunately, time is on the side of Petron which is in the middle of a 10-day break while waiting for the start of the PBA Governors Cup quarterfinals where it will be the top seed. The long break, in fact, got even longer when the playoff between Barangay Ginebra and Talk 'N Text was moved a day back to Tuesday due to the floods in Metro Manila, pushing back the start of the playoffs to Wednesday and Petron's quarterfinal outing to Thursday. “Nagkaroon ng ganung sakit `yung mga players namin. Si Arwind ang ...

Noynoy Aquino unfit to rule! August 31, 2013 | Opinion By NESTOR MATA MALAYA ‘President Aquino’s recent actions and inactions suggest a kind of character that’s deeply flawed, revealing utter lack of leadership in times of crucial crises.’ Noynoy.24PRESIDENT Noynoy Aquino was nowhere to be found in the wake of the deadly storm “Maring” that devastated, killed hundreds of people, and flooded Metro Manila and neighboring provinces. He was seen only days later, distributing relief goods to a small group of persons in nearby Cavite, as shown in propaganda photo-ops which appeared in front pages of newspapers, instead of making sure that immediate assistance was given to an estimated one million people rendered homeless and hungry and shivering from lack of food, water and clothes. Then Aquino was silent when news broke out about scandals in his own administration involving his very close relatives, friends and officials in the reported $30 million extortion attempt on the Czech company Inekon prop ...
The City of Makati in the Philippines, is one of the sixteen cities that make up Metro Manila. Makati is located within the circle of 14′40″ °north and 121′3″ °E right at the center of Metro Manila. According to tradition, the first Governor-General of the Philippines, Miguel López de Legazpi, while exploring a swamp near the Pasig River, asked for the name of the place but, because of the language barrier, was misinterpreted by the Tagalog people. Pointing to the receding tide of Pasig River, the Tagalogs answered, “Makati, kumakati na,” literally meaning ebbing tide. Makati literally means “ebbing tide”. In the 1570s when the Spanish began to take over the Philippines, Spanish conquistador Miguel Lopéz de Legaspi declared the city’s area as a worthless swamp. But in later years, the worthless swampland was turned into a social, economic and cultural area. When the Spanish colonizers gave up the country to the Americans, the Americans established Fort McKinley in the city. With its ...

MANILA - Eight days after being forced to take the Metro Rail Transit (MRT) at the height of a terrible rain-induced traffic jam on EDSA on the night of September 11, Kris Aquino on Wednesday took at least three modes of public transportation around Metro Manila for a segment on her television show. According to her crew, Aquino took a jeepney from the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City to the EDSA station of the Light Rail Transit (LRT), walked along the crowded walkway connecting MRT and LRT, and took a train ride to Roosevelt Avenue station in Quezon City, where she would then take a bus. LRT Administration personnel who coordinated the taping of her train ride said the President’s youngest sister went through the steps that regular train riders take: undergo security check, buy a ticket, and queue for the train. Kim Chiu, another television star, joined Aquino during the 20-kilometer train ride. Aquino talked to fellow passengers on the train. “Magkano *** binayaran nyo? Di ba *** napaka convenient? Al ...
