Mel Brooks & High Anxiety
Mel Brooks (born Melvin Kaminsky; June 28, 1926) is an American film director, screenwriter, composer, lyricist, comedian, actor and producer. High Anxiety is a 1977 comedy film produced and directed by Mel Brooks, who also plays the lead. This is Brooks' first film as a producer and first speaking lead role (his first lead role was in Silent Movie)./5

Except that the trope dates back before that, to Mel Brooks' "High Anxiety".
High Anxiety. Basically any Mel Brooks movie. Cloris Leachman is hysterical.
Yes, James Stewart and Kim Novak. Also check out High Anxiety, Mel Brooks parodies Hitchcock films and it's hilarious
"High Anxiety" leads to poor investment decisions.
High Anxiety was a great blend of Hitchcock and that classic Mel Brooks comedy. It's a shame it's the only Madeline Kahn movie on Netflix.
Mel Brooks tells story of working with Alfred Hitchcock on the script for "High Anxiety." Genius.
Just watched Mel Brooks in the 1977 film "High Anxiety" about an anxious psychiatrist. My dad was psychiatrist, made the film even funnier
yo you need to see High Anxiety that's my favorite of the Mel Brooks movies
Gotta say not a Mel Brooks fan nor of most of his troop of actors he uses. But should see "High Anxiety" I guess
And don't feel bad about being behind on Hitchcock. I saw Mel Brooks' High Anxiety before I ever saw Vertigo! xD
Another reason to love Mel Brooks: "ABC News Radio later asked Brooks how he wants to be remembered 100 years from now. He replied, 'I don't want to be remembered at all, but I'd like my work to be remembered. I'd like The Producers to be remembered. I'd like The Twelve Chairs, Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles, High Anxiety, I want those to be remembered. I don't care about myself, really. Because it's only a work that lives after you.'"
Haven't seen High Anxiety in such a long time. Mel Brooks films are the best!
The CPR follows the advice of Mel Brooks in High Anxiety to negotiate with the Visionistas.
Luv her ty Elaine Castaldi I loved her Mel Brooks movie High Anxiety shes a pisser :)
So the airlines made up for only giving me a $7 voucher for food by giving me an awesome hotel room at the Hyatt Regency O'hare! This Hyatt has a very similar design, with the terraces and such, as the Hyatt in San Fransisco where the Mel Brooks movie "High Anxiety" was filmed.
So I got off work early today and it's my Friday. I've got nothing going on and I've finished reading Divergent..so... What's a girl to do? Mel Brooks marathon and a GIANT glass of wine :-) first up. High Anxiety :-)

A friend of mine's current post says, "Describe your last fart using only a movie title." As I was commenting on it, I came to the realization that almost every Mel Brooks movie title could describe a fart. Here are just a few: The Producers, Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, History of the World Part I, Silent Movie, High Anxiety, Space Balls, Life Stinks, Dracula – Dead and Loving It. Glad to be able to share this important realization with you all today. I know it has enriched your lives beyond words.
So, my dreams last night were full of Mel Brooks, the comedian and director, best known for The Pink Panther movies, History of the World, High Anxiety...funny, funny man. So, he represents an aspect of myself, my internal comedian, my life is a comedy ATM. Could be worse, it could be a tragedy, lol. He was definitely in charge and directing events last night.
Awesome nap. Fantastic dream, and I saw people I wouldn't usually see together hanging out. Reheating the leftover Chinese food (thanks again, Michelle Scott and Amanda Salvador!) then some cool lime sherbet, while watching Mel Brooks' "High Anxiety". Bye.
"Ghost Adventures" Marathon or "Young Frankenstein"? Well I have "Young Frankenstein" on dvd so I can watch that anytime... I am getting "Ghost Adventures" series from Amazon when my refund check comes, and "High Anxiety" too. Mel Brooks and Gene Wilder that's a better combo than any two people in the White House. Yeah you can quote me on that...
Blazing Saddles (1974) Movie Info Vulgar, crude, and occasionally scandalous in its racial humor, this hilarious bad-taste spoof of Westerns, co-written by Richard Pryor, features Cleavon Little as the first black sheriff of a stunned town scheduled for demolition by an encroaching railroad. Little and co-star Gene Wilder have great chemistry, and the delightful supporting cast includes Harvey Korman, Slim Pickens, and Madeline Kahn as a chanteuse modelled on Marlene Dietrich. As in Young Frankenstein (1974), Silent Movie (1976), and High Anxiety (1977), director/writer Mel Brooks gives a burlesque spin to a classic Hollywood movie genre; in his own manic, Borscht Belt way, Brooks was a central player in revising classic genres in light of Seventies values and attitudes, an effort most often associated with such directors as Robert Altman and Peter Bogdanovich . Some of this film's sequences, notably a gaseous bean dinner around a campfire, have become comedy classics.
Favorite lesser Mel Brooks film? Mine is "High Anxiety", which is more of a lesser great Brooks film.
Hitchcock and Mel Brooks? . i think i feel some High Anxiety comn on! Yes please!

Hundreds of crows high up in the treetops, cawing and squawking at the edge of the forest, right by the bus stop. Kelden and I share a laugh about Mel Brooks running from the birds in High Anxiety.
We would be having "High Anxiety" if we hadn't seen 'Mel Brooks: Make a Noise' yet! Watch it here:
Update: My rabbit also enjoys watching Mel Brooks movies, except for High Anxiety and certain parts of Young Frankenstein.
Watching Mel Brooks's 'High Anxiety' in lieu of taking Lexipro.
Mel Brooks, in Cinema Retro mag, says that Alfred Hitchcock helped him write "High Anxiety." I had no idea. Awesome.
C/o Malcolm Dome @ Classic Rock Magazine 2012. (C) THE JANET MACOSKA TRANSCRIPTS Glasgow rock icon Alex Harvey could have led the way for Zakk Wylde and Slash into making horror movies if he hadn’t passed away in 1982. And in a long-lost interview one of the most theatrical rock frontmen of all time revealed hopes of working with comedy director Mel Brooks, creator of Blazing Saddles and High Anxiety. Come on in to find out more. The acclaimed leader of the Sensational Alex Harvey Band died of a heart attack on tour on February 4, 1982, a day short of his 47th birthday. US-based photographer Janet Macoska, a long-time friend of Harvey’s who received her first professional commission from SAHB in 1974, discovered her interview transcripts while she researched a photo book which has been published to mark the 30th anniversary of Harvey’s death. The conversation reveals an artist approaching the absolute height of his powers. SAHB had already impressed critics with 1973 album Next and were doing the sa ...
Mel Brooks has directed more than twenty films, yet he is known primarily for only three of them: The Producers, Blazing Saddles, and Young Frankenstein. People should remember a fourth Brooks film, High Anxiety. High Anxiety stars Brooks as a psychiatrist preparing to take a new job running a sanitarium. Brooks manages to create some wonderfully funny parodies of several Hitchcock films (including Psycho, Vertigo, Spellbound, and North By Northwest), as well as Antonioni's Blow Up. Many of the sequences are beautifully funny, catching the feel of the source material perfectly. The cast is extraordinary. It features many of Brooks' favorite actors including Harvey Korman in a twisted, and sexually bizzare role, Madeline Kahn as the leading lady, and Cloris Leachman in a creepy Nurse Ratched role. Some parts of High Anxiety are a bit slow, and as with all of Brook's films the majority of the gags fall flat; but they keep coming so quickly that you barely notice all the unfunny bits and focus on the funny o ...
Mel Brooks and Harvey Korman in the former's, "High Anxiety" ~ too funny for words!
Watched a special on PBS on Mel Brooks last night. They showed a clip from the movie, "High Anxiety." Harvey Korman plays the head of a psychiatric hospital; Mel asks him, 'Can you tell me your success ratio?" (In a bad accent) Harvy says,"Yes, I can figure that." (Gets out a calculator, and computes furiously, then looks at Mel, and gives him the answer . . .) "Once in a blue moon."
I'm feeling a Mel Brooks binge coming on. just watched The Producers now I'm watching High Anxiety. I think Blazing Saddles should be next.

High Anxiety: the best Mel Brooks movie ever
I am listening to Marc Maron's *** podcast episode with Mel Brooks. Great interview, full of wonderful information. It is reminding me how much I love Mel and Gene Wilder and the rest of that gang. Watching Young Frankenstein, thinking about following it up with Blazing Saddles and maybe High Anxiety. Its a Mel Brooks kind of night.
Watched the often dismissed 1978 film of Henrick Ibsen's An Enemy of the People directed by George Schaefer this weekend. How exactly this production was ever seen as an failure I can't understand. It is formally quite remarkable with Schaefer's mise-en-scene, remarkably evocative art direction and sublime cinematography by the great Paul Lohmann (who shot California Split, Buffalo Bill and the Indians and Nashville for Robert Altman, Silent Movie and High Anxiety for Mel Brooks, the extremely visually innovative Looker for Micheal Chrichton and several of the best looking television films of the 1970's and 1980s). The performances are also top notch- Charles Durning as Mayor Peter Stockmann, Bibi Andersen as Catherine Stockman, Robin Pearson Rose as the young free spirited feminist Petra Stockmann, an effectively creepy Richard Dysart as Aslasken and an exceptional performance by the playwright Michael Cristofer as Hovstad. And yes Steve Mcqueen is fine as Dr. Peter Stockman. It seems like much of the cr ...

Now I know why there was gorgeous violin music echoing through the hall this morning. The Warsaw Philharmonic stayed at this hotel last night. And there they go on their bus. It reminds me of a scene from the Mel Brooks classic, High Anxiety. Does anyone recall the gag to which I'm referring?
In the mood for a Mel Brooks movie, so which one?!!! Blazing Saddles, Space Balls, High Anxiety or Young Frankenstein? So many choices.
i am feeling like a Mel Brooks movie - High Anxiety I dont like this feeling
I've decided it, High Anxiety is the best Mel Brooks movie
Watching Mel Brooks' "High Anxiety" from 1977. The opening film score sounds eerily similar to the score for Phantom of the Opera.
Here's an animated gif I put together of Mel Brooks' spot-on imitation of Sid Caesar in the movie "High Anxiety: more you let it run, the faster it goes
I'm a big fan of Mel Brooks films. My favourites are Young Frankestein, High Anxiety & Blazing Saddles.

Mel Brooks Joke. My dad was filming High Anxiety with Mel. I went to Paramount Studios to drop off my dad's motor home. My dad said Rich come here and meet Mel. He introduced me to Mel Brooks. Mel told me this joke. There's two Jewish guys that die and go to heaven when they get there St. Peter says hold on I think you're in the wrong place, so he goes and gets God. God says wait a minute were filled up here, let me call my friend down south and see if he has room. So God calls the devil, the devil says sure send them on down, so God sends the Jews to *** A few weeks go by and God gets a call from the devil, the devils frantic he says God you got to get these Jews out of hear! God says what the problem, the devil says they've held a fundraiser and they are putting in air-conditioning.

Awhile back I mentioned that I sometimes scat like Popeye in the shower. This afternoon I was singing "High Anxiety" by Mel Brooks in the shower. ...just when I thought my weirdness had peaked!!
"Here we go. Straight to the top." Thorndyke gasping) DENNIS: "Quite a view, isn't it? Here we are. Top floor. Top of the hotel. You can't get any higher. -We're pretty high." "-We know it. We know we're high. That we know. That part we know." (Gasps) - Mel Brooks et.al. in High Anxiety (1977).
Things Only I Would Do: I participated in a reenactment of a classic scene from Mel Brooks' "High Anxiety" when a bird decided to relieve the necessities of nature on me. The way things have been going I think that is a metaphor.
I love Mel Brooks. Watching High Anxiety. Love all his movies.
