In Steve Rowley's first Summer as a junior scout at Arsenal he found Tony Adams, David Rocastle, Martin Keown and ... Gus Cesar.
Tony Adams & Martin Keown is one of the best partnerships I've seen and I don't think either was world class.
Paul Scholes to Arsene Wenger “They (Arsenal) capitulated at Chelsea and it seems to be a similar theme that happens when they play the top teams. For one reason or another players go missing. The players like Arteta, Cazorla, Rosicky and Ozil, it seems like they go on the pitch with no discipline. “There are no leaders like Patrick Vieira, Tony Adams or Martin Keown. When these players go 2-0 down they just carry on what they are doing they have a walk up front, lose the ball, play a nice little one-two and not even bother running back. “It’s Arsenal fans I feel sorry for because it is the same every year. They get a sniff of the title then they go to Chelsea and do nothing. The fans expect Arsenal to be going for the league but they’re a million miles away in my eyes. They need characters and leaders. “Jack Wilshere came on the scene and looked a top young player but he has never really gone on. He needs the characters like Vieira next to him to take him to the next level. He doesn’t look ...
Bould, Martin Keown, Tony Adams, Frank MCclintock, Bob Mcnab (who put in 1 of the worst tackles I've ever seen( & I said, that's the thing
“There’s no leaders within them. There’s no Patrick Vieira, no Tony Adams, no Martin Keown."- I have to agree with u, Paul Scholes :(
In high moments at Patrick Vieira,Tony Adams or Martin Keown provided leadership.
Sol Campbell . What a *** . " If I were white I`d have been England captain for more than ten years". The fact is he won 73 caps for England - 3 of which he captained the side. The list of players who captained the side when he played is as follows: David Platt, Tony Adams, Alan Shearer, Paul Ince (also black ), Stuart Pearce, David Seaman, Martin Keown, David Beckham, Michael Owen, Steven Gerrard and John Terry.Every single one of these players was infinitely more qualified than Mr.Campbell to captain the national side and for him to suggest otherwise is a grave insult to his fellow professionals. It also sets back the kick it out campaign who are trying to address more serious racial issues. A character aligned to ability makes a captain Mr. Campbell and signing for Notts County and quitting after a single defeat shows exactly what you were made of. Now grow up and be thankful that a ten a penny centre half such as yourself even got to make a living at the game !!!
Gunners im out,,,i woke up feeling as if i had a hang over due to our loss to bayern, im good now, as the gunner i am, i remain positive and passionate to my team, I urge all u fellow gooners and goonerettes to not envy others but wait for our glory for when we conquer we will be remembered as they still remember the Invincible era of Viera, henry, Berkgamp, Seaman , Ljungberg the fresh upcoming still there fabregas.the gone by days of Nigel Winterburn, Martin Keown, Tony Adams...Love my team Arsenal, Love my Gooner family ..Take care
Tony Adams was the regular starter, as there was a rotation between Martin Keown & Steve Bould. And David Seaman the GK
Kallstrom 31 Klose 35.. Has Wenger lost his touch.. They'll be getting Tony Adams and Martin Keown out of retirement next
Personally I dont support the Gooners but I have just picked a piece of history that may work to their avantage this season. They signed Pascal Cygan a central defender from Lille in 2003 to fill the voi created by the departure of Tony Adams,Steve Bould and Martin Keown.but he was always playing out of position and appeared confused every time he defended,Strikers came to know his weakness and tried they did to use the weakness to his disadvantage but Arsenal went on to lift the title.he even scored a personal feat ,staying more than one season in a dreadful environment as a player. This season they have a similar situ in Giroud.ask every Gooner they will tell u he doesnot qualify to be Gooner, but with players of his calibre Arsenal are leading the pack.So what Arsenal is making may not be noise after all.Watch the space they will be Champions come end of season
A documentary looking back at Thierry Henry's glittering career at Arsenal was released this week with a special premiere screening at Emirates Stadium. The former Gunners striker was joined by Ian Wright, David Seaman, Sol Campbell and Martin Keown to celebrate the release of 'Arsenal Legends – Thierry Henry', in which the FIFA World Cup winner tells the story of the key moments and goals that marked his eight-year spell at the club. "Even though I arrived here as a world champion, I was nobody" Thierry Henry He also talks about his arrival at Highbury, which followed a chance meeting with Gunners manager Arsene Wenger on a flight to Paris, as well as how he had plenty to prove when he signed for the north London club from Juventus in 1999. "You don't arrive at Arsenal football club when you have the likes of Tony Adams, Martin Keown, Lee [Dixon], Nigel [Winterburn] and Ray Parlour," said Henry in the documentary. "Before I arrived, those guys won the double. "Some of them were part of the team that wo ...
Leaderless Arsenal can't win ugly.says Viera, according to the former gunner captain,Arsenal lacks Leaders on and off the pitch such as formers club legends as Tony Adams,Martin Keown,Sol Campbel who can win them match even when they are not playing well,DO YOU AGREE WITH HIM?
The former Gunners captain has dismissed the north London side's title chances on account of a perceived "lack of leadership" within Arsene Wenger's ranks Patrick Vieira does not believe that former club Arsenal will win the Premier League this season because they cannot "win games playing badly". The Frenchman, who now coaches Manchester City's Under-21 side, lifted the title three times during his nine-year spell in north London. Arsenal have not won any silverware since Vieira converted the winning penalty in a shootout against Manchester United in the 2005 FA Cup final, though, and the 37-year-old believes the Gunners still lack the ability to win ugly. “When you look at Arsenal, they play fantastic football. But sometimes you need to win games playing badly, and I don't think Arsenal are capable of that at the moment,” the Frenchman told the Daily Mirror. "Maybe there is a lack of leadership - they don't have a Tony Adams, Martin Keown or Sol Campbell. These are players who can be leaders on or o ...
There is something about Arsenal’s defence this season that reminds me of that famous back four of Lee Dixon, Steve Bould, Tony Adams and Nigel Winterburn. Perhaps it is the pace and bite of Kieran Gibbs, and his constant limproving positional sense, of which Winterburn was a master in his peak; or the towering height and limited mobility of Per Mertesacker, who wins everything in the air just like Adams. Even a benched captain Thomas Vermaelen, in his good days, brings memories of a fearsome Bould ,now of course Arsene Wenger’s No.2 . Perhaps it is the total lack of fear in his tackling, or the poise with which he carries himself, or his spectacular jumping headers. Or is it Laurent Koscielny’s resemblance of style to the tenacious and formidable Martin Keown, or the fact that Bacary Sagna can be just as decisive as Dixon on the flank. If these petty reasons seem unsubstantiated, then it must be the undeniable chemistry that I sense among them.
I'm sure if he could Lee Dixon would take Tony Adams, Martin Keown and Nigel Winterburn to the World Cup!! You're stuck in the dark ages pal, it's that backward thinking and attitude that's lead to England been the most overrated and underachieving team in the last 20 years nearly!!
Arsenal legends I have met: Lee Dixon, Pat Rice, Martin Keown, Tony Adams and now also Charlie George.
Wenger - Current crop like famous trio Arsène Wenger says his current centre-back options remind him of when Tony Adams, Martin Keown and Steve Bould were all in the Arsenal squad. The Gunners welcomed Thomas Vermaelen back on Saturday after injury, and he is competing with Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny for a starting spot.
- Wenger bigs up skipper’s return. Arsene Wenger believes Thomas Vermaelen is on a par with teammates Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny and claimed that picking between the centre-back trio poses him the same challenge he had when Martin Keown, Tony Adams and Steve Bould were on the books at the start of his Arsenal tenure.

I had a dream last night that I had to dispose of Tony Adams & Martin Keown because they'd turned into zombies & it was either me or them.
Today on Cazorla on the new season and Tony Adams on Laurent Koscielny
Toure will join Martin Skrtel, Daniel Agger and Sebastian Coates as the senior centre-backs at Liverpool, and he knows he'll have to fight for his place. "I am used to competition," he said. "When I came into Arsenal the competition was Sol Campbell, Martin Keown, Tony Adams - it was hard competition. "The only way to improve a team is to make players fight for their place." Toure: "More talking, for sure! I like to lead when I'm on the pitch, I like to speak to the players and organise things. "I know Jamie Carragher left the club and that's the reason why I'm here. He was massive for this club, he was a great professional and a great example for me. I will try to do what he did but I think that's going to be really difficult. "It adds pressure because it's always hard to replace a big, big player like Jamie. I'm looking forward to that because I like challenges." Toure: "I want to try and help Liverpool win trophies this season." Toure: "Liverpool have given me the chance to show that at 32 I'm still on ...
need new blood in boardroom. Both Tony Adams and Martin Keown would be perfect. Passion, role models and loves the club.
PLANETFROM A TRUE GUNNER The Return of the British Core... Knowingly or not, Arsene owes a great debt to his predecessors, especially George Grahamwho nurture the roots of English at the squadhe inherited as boyband "Arsenal Famous Wonderwall" consisting of David Seaman, Martin Keown, Tony Adams, Steve Bould, Lee Dixon and Nigel Winterburn and midfielder energetic Ray Parlour...But soon the British Core dissapered and Arsene Wenger started recruiting French players who later won manytitles...Patrick Vieira in his first season, Nicholas Anelka and Emmanuel Petit (1997/98) and Thierry Henry - who was flop at Juventus - season 1999/2000... This was a breakthrough decision because this formula successfully brought many titles...The arrival of African Players changed the Premier League...This is what makes French connection base becoming crucial because the majority of African countries use French as their official language...CescFabregas in an interview once said that he was having trouble arriving at Arsenal ...
I can beat my chest proudly and say we have a new Martin Keown - Tony Adams central defensive pairing!!! Loving It
Whole new respect for Martin Keown, to be fair he hit that nail straight on the head!!
The Guardian: Arsène Wenger wants to sign Ashley Williams from Swansea City at the end of the season. He has identified the Wales captain as someone with the leadership qualities to control and organise Arsenal's defence and someone closer to a dominant figure such as Tony Adams, Martin Keown or Steve Bould. Williams, contracted to 2015, would cost in the region of £8m.
Smalling: “I was a fan of Afc. Tony Adams was a true leader. Him & Martin Keown’s relationship was very good at the heart of that defence."
Always been overrated, John Terry, Vidic, Tony Adams, Martin Keown all been a mile better!
we need Tony Adams or Martin Keown. They got stuck in!
Love this quote from the same story: "Tony Adams, Martin Keown and even Steve Bould can all be good managers, why not?"
Other players to add to that list are Ian Wright, David Seaman, Tony Adams, Martin Keown, Lee Dixon, Freddie Ljungberg
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has no doubts his current players have as much heart as the likes of Tony Adams, Patrick Vieira and Martin Keown.
Wenger : The current players care MORE about the club then Tony Adams, Martin Keown, Patrick Vieira and Thierry Henry
Not buying Wenger's quotes saying this Arsenal team of players care as much as Tony Adams, Theirry Henry or Martin Keown
Gary Bale, Martin Keown, Tony Adams, And Phillip (can't member his surname but his brother plays/played for Man U) they are all UGGERS
Arsenal legend Tony Adams: "I like Arsenal's standards. No person is bigger than the club. I agree with that 100 per cent. But that's not the issue. Even going back to Ashley Cole, Sol Campbell – these players left too early. So too Gaël Clichy, Samir Nasri, Cesc Fabregas, Alex Song, even Marc Overmars and Emmanuel Petit. I think you could have got two or three years out of them. Instead [with the exception of Campbell] they chose to take the money. Which was fine, I understand balancing books. "But Robin is not a football nor a financial decision. He will get the money back for you. If you drop out of the Champions League, you aren't going to get the £25m. Give that to Robin. And the manager is paying himself a few quid. That is what irritates the fans as well. Ivan [Gazidis, chief executive] is on a lot of money, Arsène is on a lot of money. The fans come to watch the players and think 'Hold on a minute, give him your money!' "I can see both ways. I understand the core values of Arsenal. I just thi ...
Tony Adams: Hopefully Arsène is giving Steve [Bould] access [to the defence] because Steve knows how to do it. Tony Adams: If I was playing alongside Steve one week and then Martin Keown, I could cope but it's different.
By virtue of the statue of him that stands outside the Emirates Stadium, you could say that Tony Adams's presence is felt at Arsenal every matchday whether he is there in person or not, but he has had special reason to be back there of late.
Arsenal haters, please lend me your ears just for a moment..!!Arsenal is a hotshot team that will, once again, qualify for the Champions League next season..!! What I really miss in the current squad is the killer instinct and never-say-die attitude of legends in the mould of Thierry Henry, Patrick Vieira, Tony Adams, David Seaman, Mark Overmars, Martin Keown,Emmanuel Petit, Dennis Berkamp etc ,etc. We have to strengthen the squad this January transfer window...the money is there; plenty of it..!! Arsenal is a lifestyle..!!!
Can we bring in Sol Campbell, Tony Adams and Martin Keown for defensive training?
We know our legends, Tony Adams is 1.Henry,Bergkamp,Ray Parlour,Martin Keown,TonyAdams etc all we know.Stewart Robinson is Mr.Nobody
Patrick Vieira, Martin Keown, Tony Adams, Nigel Winterburn, all, I hear, would love a coaching role at Arsenal. Madness , never offered it.
Why Arsenal are in decline... Arsenal FC are not even a shadow of the side they once were. Two to three times a week they are supposed to line up as a team, when in actuality they are closer to 11 individuals. They have no leaders. This season has merely confirmed that Cesc Fabregas, Samir Nasri, Gael Clichy and Robin Van Persie were all right to leave. Their performance last night was further proof, as if it was needed, of their shambolic decline. Usually when teams go out of a cup competition to a lower league underdog, they hammer the opposition. There are often some questionable refereeing decisions which go against them. The ball is cleared off the line, hits the post and the bar, but just won’t go in. There wasn’t enough of that against Bradford. Not one player, played like he wanted to progress into a cup semi-final. The likes of Patrick Vieira, Dennis Bergkamp, Martin Keown and Tony Adams would have given everything to try and prevent failure. Eight years ago this result would have been unthin ...
I sure hope Arsenal took the DNA of Tony Adams, Martin Keown, Patrick Vieira, Robert Pires and Thierry Henry!
he isn't the best though is he. Tony Adams, Steve Bould, Martin Keown...
Would you like to see guys like Tony Adams or Martin Keown manage Arsenal ?

Sol Campbell, Steve Bould, Martin Keown and Tony Adams were all better than Ledley King. And that's just Arsenal centre backs.
...generation of players including Tony Adams, David Rocastle, Michael Thomas, Paul Merson and Martin Keown. Please do it again Terry.
Martin Keown was the first guy who found the One Ring. He found it in a pond before killing his pal Tony Adams
England players are dropping like flies, Tony Adams and Martin Keown will be waiting nervously by the phones at this rate
The two best teams I faced in my career were Juventus (1996-1999) and Arsenal (1997-2000). It isn’t so much the individual flair and skill that stands out, it’s the mental toughness. Think of the characters: Angelo Peruzzi, Ciro Ferrara, Paolo Montero, Antonio Conte, Zinedine Zidane, Didier Deschamps, Alessandro Del Piero; David Seaman, Nigel Winterburn, Martin Keown, Tony Adams, Emmanuel Petit, Patrick Vieira, Dennis Bergkamp. You knew you would never break them mentally. If you have a core of characters like that, you win titles. -Gary Neville-
Arsenal substitutions : Robin Van Persie, Theo Walcott and Gervinho off for Tony Adams, Lee Dixon and Martin Keown.
Tony Adams, Lee Dixon, David Seaman, Martin Keown, Ashley Cole. A defence to be jelous of, unlike todays arsenal back four lool

Martin Keown and Tony Adams were doing that to each other in the tunnel, just to motivate each other. The game's changed.
From the times of Tony Adams,Ian Wright,Martin Keown,David Seaman,Dennis Bergkamp,Thierry Henry and now Mikel Arteta, this is the true Arsenal I have all along known!
Balotelli is a wild animal. I wish Tony Adams, Patrick Viera and Martin Keown were around to "deal" with him.
Hope we gets Martin Keown .. He's my top choice or Tony Adams my second choice
Who was the better centre defender, Tony Adams? or Martin Keown? solve a pub discussion we have been having
We are crying out for Martin Keown or Tony Adams to come into the coaching set-up to drill the defence and stop giving away soft goals IMO
