TY3 will be bringing its unplugged country acoustic sound to the outdoor patio of Miller's Ale House on the Parkway Friday, June 20. The group, made up of singer-songwriter Tony Young, lead and slide guitarist Neal Goree and rhythm acoustic guitarist and backing vocalist Aaron Sorin, will be performing 7:30 - 10:30 p.m. The event is free and open to all ages of the public, and will also be the location for the unofficial high school reunion of Lincoln's class of 1984, which Young is a part of. TY3 plays several of Young's originals that he recorded in Nashville, as well as covers by Lynyrd Skynyrd, Allman Brothers, Eagles, Delbert McClinton, Hank Williams, Pink Floyd, Brad Paisley, Travis Tritt, John Anderson, Allan Jackson, ZZ Top, Jimi Hendrix, Charlie Daniels, CCR, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Elvis, Johnny Cash, Blake Shelton, Waylon Jennings, Kenny Wayne Sheppard, Led Zeppelin, BB King, Marshall Tucker Band and John Cougar Melancamp.

Skeeter Creek will be opening up the show! We just received the following from Bret Michaels team: "Regrettably Bret Michaels will not be able to performance tonight at the Times Union Center due to continued illness and diabetes complications related to the Nora flu virus. His apologies to all the fans. His team is hoping that this will all be under control and Bret will be better in the next few days." Refunds will be available at your original point of purchase as long as your ticket is not scanned. If you enter the concert, you will not be refunded. We hope to see you tonight as we support our Veterans!
Sad. Ann & Meaghan are gone to the TUC for the Charlie Daniels/Brett Micheals/Marshall Tucker Band minus Brett Micheals concert. First, I'm mad. It's a concert honoring veterans and it's NOT sold out. Why? I don't care if it's Pee Wee Herman singing it is giving money to the Veterans Association to help our Vets. Second, Old Brett was "assisted" off stage last night in NH or NJ with low blood sugar. Now I've been diabetic 46 years and it's never taken 24 hours to get over a crash. Think old Brett wanted a night off. Third, MTB ain't MTB. It's studio musicians backing up Doug Gray. I'm a studio musician for Gods sake. But Charlie. Charlie Daniels is one of 3 great Americans and I can't name the other two. Listen to him talk about freedom and veterans and such. Plus to be his age and still touring and playing that fiddle. Man I wish I could have made it to my seat. It's gonna be a good time. Street festival before the show and then some down home stomp your feet CDB music. LOL I wish I could see the tour bu ...

I just made a "work on your thesis" playlist. It is, to say the least... eclectic. We could go from The Smiths to Mos Def to Procol Harum to Byzantine to Elton John to the Space Ghost Coast-to-Coast theme to Thomas Dolby to the Marshall Tucker Band to Chuck Berry to Pantera to Chicago to Mighty Mighty Bosstones to Massive Attack to Elliot Smith to Lynyrd Skynyrd to Rob Zombie to House of Pain to Dio. This is just a taste of the madness I have assembled.

To all my FB friends: I have had many events throughout 2013. I have travelled to St. Louis, went up in the Gateway Arch, visited the Museum of Transportation, celebrated my 38th birthday at Power and Light in Kansas City, attended the 20-yr reunion of my class from Benton HS (St. Joseph, MO), visited the zoo and UP 4-8-4 in Omaha, travelled to Sioux Falls and Mitchell, SD (Corn Palace), seen the Marshall Tucker Band in concert, visited the Truman Library and Museum in MO, spent time with my family and welcomed Kimberly and Luke into Guilford, MO. I have BIG plans for 2014, which includes a trip to Eureka Springs, AR, a ride on the Midland Rwy (in Baldwin, KS) with Jason and Brandi, plus my nieces, watching the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band in concert in Albany, MO and, THE highlight of my yr, a flight to Boston. I am very excited!! Everyone, wish me luck!!
"It was the show on this tour, it was Savannah, Georgia with Marshall Tucker Band and Dana Fuchs," guitarist Devon Allman explains on a snowy December day before a show in Cleveland. Touring across the world with his solo project or with the Royal Southern Brotherhood band with bandmates Mike Zito, Yonrico Scott, Cyril Neville and Charlie Wooten, he's been thrilling audiences across the world with his rapidly ascending star. But it was a particularly special concert outside of Savanna, Georgia, not far from the home of his father, the legendary rocker Gregg Allman, that the lives of both Allman and a young, aspiring guitar player would be changed. "I come downstairs to get into the ride, and this kid is waiting for me. I'm thinking, 'wow, they sent a kid to get me...'" he chuckles as he looks back at the moment. "So I reached my hand out, said, 'I'm Devon Allman and you must be my driver.' Yeah man, I'm Matt Dylan. An exhausted Allman was in the middle of a long tour, having been on the road nonstop and i ...

Golly, I still love Bachman Turner Overdrive, just as much as I did when I was a kid. BTO, KISS, Styx, Aerosmith (before they sold out to pop), Elton John (before he sold out to pop), Robin Trower, The Who, AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne, the Eagles, John Cougar, Bryan Adams, Electric Light Orchestra, Jerry Reed (yes, Jerry Reed), Gary Stewart, Gordon Lightfoot, 10cc, April Wine, Atlanta Rhythm Section, Marshall Tucker Band, Bad Company, Eddie Money, Billy Idol, Billy Joel, Van Halen (David Lee Roth), Charlie Rich, Pink Floyd, Charlie Pride, Dan Fogelberg, Chicago, The Commodores, Grand Funk Railroad, Boston, Meatloaf, Prince, Linda Ronstadt, Don Henley, Donald Fagan, Earth Wind and Fire, ZZ Top, Paul Rodgers, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Gilbert O'Sullivan, Heart, Heatwave, and thousands more it seems, were all a huge part of my world when I was growing up. I hope you read the name of a band or two that brought back good memories for you too. Now, go listen to some classic rock!
WEDNESDAY'S PICK: FIFTH ON THE FLOOR AT THE WELL Thanksgiving is tomorrow, and what better way to prepare for the niceties of family and the stress of the holiday than to blow it all out on tonight? We’ve got just the event for you to do that: Fifth on the Floor, performing at 9 tonight at The Well, 4620 Kingston Pike in Knoxville. A rock ‘n’ roll band from the heart of Kentucky, Fifth on the Floor worked with outlaw rocker Shooter Jennings on the group’s most recent album, “Ashes & Angels,” and the boys have toured with Shooter, Unknown Hinson, Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers, Lucero, Wanda Jackson, the Marshall Tucker Band and more. The album even found its way onto the Billboard country charts, practically a miracle considering the absence of Auto-Tune and the lack of a song about a truck on it. According to the band’s website, “their songs are an effort in American music, owing equally to blues and country, good times and bad times, whiskey and wine.” They’ll perform at The Well wi ...

There are still 15(ish) bands to go but I'm already sure there is fun to be had.

Great Article by John Pfeiffer from The Aquarian on The October 5th show this coming Saturday At The Cutting Room in NYC with Slim Chance And The Gamblers And Glen Burtnik. Thanks John! SLIM CHANCE & THE GAMBLERS DOUBLE DOWN ON THE BIG APPLE - THE CUTTING ROOM – OCT. 5 Slim Chance & The Gamblers is a band that’s been featured here in Shoreworld over the last couple of years. During their relatively short time, they have raised the notability bar here in the Garden State. Paired with well- known rockers such as John Eddie, Marshall Tucker Band, Dave Mason and Southside Johnny, they’ve demonstrated excellent overall appeal to folks looking for old school, blue collar rock and roll. But when you take a look at the combined experience, you can see the focus of what years on the road and time in the studio can do to expedite a great band. Slim Chance & The Gamblers is a large undertaking and consists of lead vocalist/guitarist Mario Casella, keyboardist/vocalist “Rockin’” Randy Ledet, guitarist Eric ...
