So indeed Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin will be the Republican nominee for Vice-President. This means that the final verdict on the 2012 presidential campaign will involve, at least, an assessment that the campaign was about something substantive. Barack Obama is currently winning this election, or Mitt Romney is losing it, one or the other, and the latter seems more suspect at this point. According to attacks from the President's re-election team and their allies, Gov. Romney has personally sadistic tendencies, is eager to impoverish others for his personal gain, and even has a hand in the past in the unnecessary deaths of family members of his employees. I am consistently amazed at the fact that we are over three and a half years into the President's four-year term, and his re-election campaign involves so precious little mention of any accomplishments or record of his tenure.
