Bacall dead at 89 Legendary actress captivated Hollywood By Ryan Parker and Dennis McLellan Los Angeles Times LOS ANGELES — Lauren Bacall, the smoky-voiced movie legend who taught Humphrey Bogart how to whistle in “To Have and Have Not,” has died at the age of 89, according to her family. Details of the location and the cause of her death were not immediately available. Her death was confirmed by Robbert de Klerk, the co-managing partner of the Humphrey Bogart Estate. Her daughter, Leslie Bogart, said no other information was available. Bacall launched her career with the 1944 film that turned “Bogie and Bacall” into one of Hollywood’s legendary couples on screen and off. She was born Betty Joan Perske on Sept. 16, 1924, in New York. Bacall was a fledgling New York stage actress and a model whose pictures in Harper’s Bazaar came to the attention of director Howard Hawks, who placed her under contract and cast her opposite Bogart in the wartime drama “To Have and Have Not.” Bogart and Bac ...
My favorite Lauren Bacall movie would be "How to Marry a Millionaire" with Betty Grable and Marilyn Monroe. I loved her in "The Shootist" with John Wayne as well.
One of the reasons I wanted to live in Manhattan from an early age was Lauren Bacall and the girls - Marilyn Monroe and Betty Grable - who lived in that fabulous Sutton Place apartment in "How to Marry a Millionaire." RIP Betty!

Marilyn Monroe, Betty Grable and Lauren Bacall. We'd love to know what they're laughing about!
Its so sad. While other girls have had Peggy Lee, and Marilyn Monroe, and Audrey Hepburn. I've always had Lauren Bacall. She was so intelligent, so strong, and cool. Her beauty wasn't at all about her looks for me- it was all about her strength.
Listen to this great 2006 interview with Lauren Bacall. She reminisces about her long career, working with Marilyn Monroe, idolizing Bette Davis, and being "Bogey's wife."
Can't wait to move to Toronto and learn about classics like Marilyn Monroe, Betty Grable, Lauren Bacall, Audrey Hepburn, & Bette Davis 😍

I had to factory reset the latest Roku that I had bought months ago. Couldn't figure out why it wouldn't let me log in to Netflix. Then, I found the problem. Even though it came in a box that APPEARED to be unopened, it actually was registered to someone else! That was really strange! So, it's all good now, and playing away happily in the kitchen. However, after the stress of all the bad weather, and an already-long week, I wanted something PLEASANT to watch. Silly me to think that a French movie set in Paris called "Lovers on a Bridge" would be pleasant. No... it was very depressing. At least the first 15 minutes were. Switched over to "How To Marry a Millionaire", with three beautiful women. Lauren Bacall, Marilyn Monroe, and Betty Grable. Enjoying it so far. :-)

I just finished reading some not-very-flattering-but-candid impressions of several "divas" male and female - including Katherine Hepburn, Lauren Bacall, Anne Sothern, Ginger Rogers, Burl Ives, Warren Beatty, Tom Jones and Marilyn Monroe. Who did these revelations come from? I won't say her name - but she lived "in a bottle" for several years... xxoo

Okay, people keep giving me numbers and I try to get out of it by telling them I did this already, but I am giving in. Here are some more random facts about me. Why not take advantage of the opportunity to talk about myself with people actually wanting to hear it. 1. My favorite super hero is Captain America. I grew up a military brat so you kind of end up bleeding red, white, and blue. I think the new Captain America movies and the new character is really cool, but I grew up with comics and as far as live action this is the Captain I remember: Yep, I ended up riding motorcycle when I got older. 2. I grew up watching classic movies. Bob Hope, Bing Crosby, Cary Grant, The Rat Pack, Jerry Lewis, Abbot & Costello, Sophia Loren, Laurel & Hardy, Rock Hudson, Gregory Peck, Ingrid Bergman, Jack Lemmon, Audrey Hepburn, Elvis Presley, Lauren Bacall, Jimmy Stewart, Doris Day, Ava Gardner, Greta Garbo, Spencer Tracy, Paul Newman, Judy Garland, Henry Fonda, and many others, and of course Marilyn Monroe. Those are man ...
