The best movies were made when Judy Garland, Clark Gable, Mickey Rooney, and Marilyn Monroe were the stars in every one 😍
Why is it people assume Marilyn Monroe was the image up on the screen in her real life? We don't think Angelina Jolie is really a witch,a spy or a drug addict. Nobody assumes Julia Roberts was really a prostitute,a law clerk or a thief. But women like Marilyn,Joan Crawford,Jean Harlow,Marlene Dietrich and Judy Garland often if not always have screen characters and the qualities of fictional roles they play ascribed to them as actual people. Was it because at the time those women were famous, we knew a lot less real information about their personal lives? Did the roles these women played fit them so well that we can't help but think the actresses were playing themselves? Is it art imitating life?

Status Update By Ana Tomical I was born and raised in Seattle. The first celebrity death that really impacted my generation was the death of Kurt Cobain. I never really understood why he was honored as some kind of rock god or hero, as I was never a fan of Nirvana's music nor was I ever a fan of suicide. I made a friend in 7th grade, a boy who spoke of self-chosen end-of-life scenarios so much that eventually, at barely 18, he chose to end his own life out of anger and looked up to Kurt Cobain as some kind of hero. To be in this city and hear the 20-year mark of Kurt Cobain's death on the radio, all over the news, without a single mention of what a person can do to prevent suicide from happening to them or their friends, or to be pointed in the direction of a place to seek help, or given a phone number, or a website, or a name of a doctor, ANYTHING, really sickens and angers me. Kids to this day still hear about celebrity suicides like Ian Curtis, Kurt Cobain, Marilyn Monroe, and Judy Garland and actually ...
I was just thinking about Mickey Rooney this past week. Him and a few others like Doris Day who turned 90 this past week, and Clark Gable, James Garner, Bob Hope, Judy Garland, Danny Kay, Ben Cosby, Fred Astaire, Betty Grabble, Marilyn Monroe, Jack Lemon, Jane Russell, Rita Hayworth they don't make movie stars like these any more.

Patty Duke wears a different version of Billy’s pleated Marilyn Monroe dress as she acts alongside Susan Hayward in the cult classic film, “Valley of the Dolls.” Billy’s beaded pantsuit, which Hayward wears, had to be remade after Judy Garland was release from the same role. Garland loved the outfit so much she pleaded with the studio to let her keep it. Judy wore it during her first concert after being fired from the film.

The complex had a private beach and offered seaplane service to downtown Chicago. During its lifetime, the hotel served many famous guests including Marilyn Monroe, Frank Sinatra, Judy Garland, Charlie Chaplin, Bette Davis, Tallulah Bankhead, and Nat King Cole, and U.S. Presidents Franklin D. We all have""ONE"" thing in Common. We all want to be ""LOVED"" It is our most Basic and Natural Desire and Need. For Some of us... ...That most Basic need was never met...So Some have tried to Achieve this desire by becoming Famous, Powerful and Rich. spent my Saturday night so far watching documentarys on Marilyn Monroe,James Dean, Elvis Presley,Judy Garland&the Rat complaints👌
My favorite celeb bio films as far as actor transformation thru makeup and/or thru their performance. 1. Judy Davis as Judy Garland in "me and my shadows: life with judy garland. She's simply a powerhouse in this. Her nervous energy, self doubt and willingness to devour scenery are pitch perfect for Garland. She also manages the fragility and pathos that makes Garland endearing, much like the real Judy. Top notch lip synch and pacing. 2.Mira Sorvino as Marilyn Monroe in "norma jean and marilyn". Sorvino moves, looks, and even SOUNDS like Marilyn. Even her "real" speaking voice is spot on. She's a tidalwave of glamour, pills, lost little girl, siren and woman on the edge. Especially love her "these are my real friends" speech about pills. 3. Caroll Baker as Jean Harlow in "Harlow". Not a great film. Suffers from fictionalization and glossing over. Very little fact in it. But something about Baker's Harlow is perfect. As a girl who's so sexy she can't hide it and yet is scared of sex and the loss of control sexua ...
Okay, people keep giving me numbers and I try to get out of it by telling them I did this already, but I am giving in. Here are some more random facts about me. Why not take advantage of the opportunity to talk about myself with people actually wanting to hear it. 1. My favorite super hero is Captain America. I grew up a military brat so you kind of end up bleeding red, white, and blue. I think the new Captain America movies and the new character is really cool, but I grew up with comics and as far as live action this is the Captain I remember: Yep, I ended up riding motorcycle when I got older. 2. I grew up watching classic movies. Bob Hope, Bing Crosby, Cary Grant, The Rat Pack, Jerry Lewis, Abbot & Costello, Sophia Loren, Laurel & Hardy, Rock Hudson, Gregory Peck, Ingrid Bergman, Jack Lemmon, Audrey Hepburn, Elvis Presley, Lauren Bacall, Jimmy Stewart, Doris Day, Ava Gardner, Greta Garbo, Spencer Tracy, Paul Newman, Judy Garland, Henry Fonda, and many others, and of course Marilyn Monroe. Those are man ...
Today I went to Gun Wharf Quays in Portsmouth, I went into Crabtree & Evelyn and I bought Lily of the Valley - eau de toilette, body lotion and home fragrance spray, then I went into Burger King and I had a double cheese and bacon burger, large fries, onion rings and a large coke. After lunch I went into HMV and I bought 4 dvd's and a cd, the dvd's I bought are 'Carefree' with Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, Disney 'A Christmas Carol' with Jim Carrey, 'The Polar Express', and Double Feature 'Lara Croft : Tomb Raider' and 'Lara Croft : Tomb Raider : The Cradle Of Life', the cd I bought is 'Katherine Jenkins - This Is Christmas'. Then I travelled by train from Portsmouth Harbour to Portsmouth and Southsea station, and I went into Waterstones and I bought 2 books, 'Get Happy - The Life of Judy Garland' and a book about Marilyn Monroe, then I went into Costa and I had a hot apple drink. It was raining in Portsmouth today, it was an opportunity for me to wear my raincoat, and I brought my woolly hat with me, . ...

Had an absolute amazing day today at the Hollywood Costume Exhibition! It was simply mind-blowing to view the very original costumes that the world famous actors and actresses wore such as Judy Garland (The Wizard of Oz), Marilyn Monroe, Austin Powers, Johnny Depp, Superman, Batman, Arnold Schwarzenegger and many more past and living legends! Mannequins were custom made and scaled to fit the exact body shape and height of these actors and were dressed in the very costumes the legends wore. I was told that the garments cost millions of dollars! I was particularly fascinated by the fact that Dorothy (Garland) was only 5 foot tall, a tiny little girl dwelling in the Land of Oz. I could not take my eyes of those precious Ruby Slippers. I stood there gazing at them for about 5 minutes in astonishment. I wish I could have stolen those beautiful ruby sequins! Brought back major childhood obsessions with those *** shoes that I so longed for! lol What also fascinated me was the fact Marilyn Monroe was practically ...

The legend of the Hollywood casting couch coincided with the rise of the studio system in the 1910s. Moguls such as Darryl F. Zanuck, Howard Hughes, Jack Warner, Sam Goldwyn, Louis B. Mayer, Harry Cohn and Joseph Schenck were all rumoured to have been enthusiastic practitioners and actresses such as Joan Crawford, Jean Harlow, Judy Garland, Lana Turner, Ava Gardner and Marilyn Monroe attained stardom via this route.
Yeah, Peggy Lee, Tallulah Bankhead, Elizabeth Taylor, Bette Davis, Joan Crawford, Judy Garland and Katharine Hepburn were better than that *** Marilyn Monroe. But Lucille Ball had them all beat. You can thank no one but Lucille Ball for any TV period!
I am still asking the question: Who is your favorite pinup or glamorous old hollywood actress? I wanna know. So far our list is in abc order by first name as follows: Audrey Hepburn, Brigitte Bardot, Doris Mayday, Gene Tierney, Hazel Court, Judy Garland, Lana Turner, Marilyn Monroe, Rita Hayworth, Sophia Loren, Vivien Leigh, & Yvonne De Carlo. from Dancentre South: 'Matt Mattox was a jazz dance pioneer who lived and worked in Perpignan, France. Mattox used his background in ballet technique to create his own technique for jazz dance. He is one of the founding fathers of jazz dance and will be missed by so many of us. Matt Mattox always said, "I will continue until my last breath," and he held true to that statement. His elegance, energy and style marked the world of dance and his influence will remain forever. Heaven will have an amazing concert when he and Gus get together! Mattox was born in 1921, and received a strong foundation in ballet before becoming a leading dancer in Hollywood from 1946-1953. As a dancer, his leading film accomplishments include Seven Brides for Seven Brothers , Gentlemen Prefer Blondes , and The Bandwagon. Some of his partners have included Judy Garland, Cyd Charisse, Mitzi Gaynor, Marilyn Monroe, Gwen Verdon, and Jane Russell. It was in 1948 that Mattox was first hired by choreographer Jack Cole for the Broadway sh ...
Think of famous people like Ernest Hemingway, Marilyn Monroe, Judy Garland, and Elvis Presley. They were people who, in spite of wealth and fame, could not find true happiness. Their fortune and fame could not give them the joy and happiness that only God can give. They tried to find it by drinking, smoking, drugs of overeating until finally they destroyed themselves. They never discovered the true source of happiness, because their dreams were outside God's eternal purpose for their lives.

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Judy Garland's blue and white gingham dress from "The Wizard of Oz" sold for $480,0 at a Beverly Hills auction on Saturday, while a slice of Prince William's wedding cake fetched $1,375. Julien's Auctions said the price for the pinafore dress and white puffy-sleeved blouse that Garland wore throughout the 1939 film classic was in line with estimates. But it was well below the sky-high figures paid last year for Hollywood Costumes worn by Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn, and a similar dress worn during tests for "The Wizard of Oz" that fetched $910,000 in 2011. Auctioneer Darren Julien said the price difference was due to the fact that only a few test dresses were made for "The Wizard of Oz," while there are about seven versions of Garland's signature gingham pinafore. The buyer of the Judy Garland dress, made by MGM Costume Designer Adrian, was not identified.
Let's think outside the box. Why disappoint everyone with cancellations. In the powerless unlit night, Knicks and Nets play at the West 4th Street playground, while thousands of marathon runners follow a 26 mile course through lower Manhattan followed by platoons of men on roller skates dressed as Marilyn Monroe, Joan Crawford, and Judy Garland.
Still to come...Bobby Darin, Marilyn Monroe, Judy Garland, Peggy Lee...and a beautiful long live Lionel Hampton number to round things out.

More on Frances Farmer's, Hollywood Actress, persecution under Jews. I've already said of Marilyn Monroe's murder under Jew's care, Vivien Leigh's nervous breakdown with Jewish producers, here's Frances Farmer's story into a "mind *** with Jews." There are many more stories of Jews conning the women they hired for $$. Madonna is part of the Jewish mysterious cult, the Kaball. Stories of how Jews conned White women actress and cheated them out of $$ like Judy Garland, Debbie Reynolds, Doris Day. I've been writing about this for about 7 years, and if they are on "good" behavior, I must have struck a raw nerve. A truthful nerve. I'll post my own video of powerful Jewish doctor raping me in Chicago, then threatening me for life. And my cleavage I wear today is of "breastfeeding" and not sexiness. Even the rape center said it doesn't matter how a woman dresses, there is "no" excuse for rape. When the poorer blacks rape that is terrible, but the richest religion and race in the world, the "Jews, raping their p ...

“Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius, and it's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring.” ― Marilyn Monroe “Always be a first rate version of yourself and not a second rate version of someone else.” ― Judy Garland "Only a man's character is the real criterion of worth." ― Eleanor Roosevelt Wise words from some wonderful women. ;)

"Legends & Icons" that is this years recital theme! Marilyn Monroe, Gene Kelly, Michael Jackson, Prince, Judy Garland, Frank Sinatra, Barbara Striessand, The Beatles, Elvis, The Rolling Stones, Christina Agulara, Whitney Huston . just to name a few. Would you agree they are all legends and or icons and who would you add to the list!?
I never thought I would one day be looked upon as someone who had lived back in the “before times” but dang here I am. It flabbergasts me when I hear “Who were the Beatles?” or “What are 45’s?” and my favorite of “You were born in the 1940’s!” always said with complete wide eyed disbelief that anyone could be so old and still live. But yes, yes and yes again when I was a lad the Three Stooges were still cranking out two reelers and I paid 15 cents to ride the bus into downtown Portland to watch their latest release. Laural and Hardy, the Marx Brothers, Abbott and Costello were all still alive and so was Marilyn Monroe, Clark Gable, Betty Davis and the entire host of Hollywood from the so called Golden Age of movies. When I was born The Wizard of Oz” and Gone With The Wind were still fairly recent movies and Judy Garland, Haley Mills, and Shirley Temple were still young girls so yeah I’m old. But for the last time I did not know Jesus or grew up when the Dead Sea was still only ...

It's that beautiful time of year again! The transition from spring into the steaming hot summer...and Gemini is ruling the sky! As I did last year, here is a list of famous Gem's! Bob Dylan, Stevie NIcks, Gladys Knight, John F. Kennedy, Clint Eastwood, Marilyn Monroe, Tupac, Kenny G., Prince, Nancy Sinatra, Johnny Depp, Jessica Tandy, Maurice Sendak, Judy Garland, Gene Wilder, Angelina Jolie, MC Escher, Boy George, Walt Whitman, Biggie Smalls and many more! Dream "Golden Age" 'GYPSY' film casting: Judy Garland as Rose; Marilyn Monroe as Louise; Gene Kelly as Tulsa; (older) Fred Astaire as Herbie
Jung states: The so-called civilized man has forgotten the trickster. He remembers him only figuratively and metaphorically, when, irritated by his own ineptitude, he speaks of fate playing tricks on him or of things being bewitched. He never suspects that his own hidden and apparently harmless shadow has qualities whose dangerousness exceeds his wildest dreams. As soon as people get together in masses and submerge the individual, the shadow is mobilized, and, as history shows, may even be personified and incarnated. Fate certainly plays tricks on Gemini, because this is an attribute of his own soul. The creative fertility of Hermes (Mercury) is reflected by the long list of Geminis who have left us a heritage of greatness, Wagner, Dante, Judy Garland, Marilyn Monroe and J.F. Kennedy to name only a few. But it is my feeling that the annoying 'accidents' of which Jung writes, and the conflicts with rivals which seem to be strewn across Gemini's path, can lead to a deep appreciation of the exquisite am ...
