Celebrity Jewelry: Forget Bling, Bring Back Pearls! Call me old fashioned, but Ill take glamorous stars like Marilyn Monroe, Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn and Elizabeth Taylor over spoiled pseudo-celebs like Paris Hilton, Ashlee Simpson, Nicole Ritchie and their ilk any day of the week. Whereas Old Hollywood oozed class, sophistication and mystery, todays overexposed starlets lack graceand sometimes even talent! Take the way they present themselves: Todays stars walk the red carpet barely clothed, dripping in outrageous, tacky bling, yammering on about their personal lives. Yesterdays iconsJackie O and Lady Diana come to mindprojected a glamorous elegance one would actually strive to emulate. They dressed with flair, accessorized with style and kept their private lives private. Whats more, many of the Old Hollywood elite wore my favorite gem, the pearl, whose ladylike, demure reputation is so fitting for these elegant women. Luckily for me, and the rest of the world, pearls are making a big comeback. Lets h ...

Heres my Remediation Study - note Im a Novice Prosumer- - a remediation of song "Diamonds are a girls best friend" - Breakfast at Tiffany's - Also for interest's sake Quoting - "Author Truman Capote envisioned Marilyn Monroe in the part of Holly Golightly. Monroe was originally cast as Golightly, but her drama coach, Lee Strasberg, told her that playing a call-girl was not good for her image. The film went on to be a huge success, with Monroe's replacement Audrey Hepburn receiving Golden Globe and Academy Award nominations for Best Actress." Apparently Hepburn was paid $750,000 for the movie, making her the second highest paid actress after Elizabeth Taylor , Monroe received a weekly wage of $500 for her performance in "Gentlemen prefer Blondes - her female Lead Co-star - received $200,000 for the movie! I cant even remember her name. Duped!

Could fashion’s obsession with being thin have led to the launch of the stiletto heel back in the early 1950s? That’s one theory offered by Bruno Frisoni, creative director of luxury French accessories brand Roger Vivier, whose namesake founder was one of two creative footwear geniuses linked to its inception. The other was his competitor, Italian shoemaker Salvatore Ferragamo, known as the ‘shoemaker to the stars’, with Marilyn Monroe, Gloria Swanson and Bette Davis among his clients. “We will probably never know who was the first. It’s a bit like the debate over who invented the miniskirt – Courrèges or Mary Quant?” says Frisoni. Vivier, who for his part shod the likes of Marlene Dietrich, Elizabeth Taylor and Catherine Deneuve, took an architect’s approach to his art, creating shoes meant to ‘redesign the feet’, like the role of the corset in fashion. He designed his first-ever stiletto heel to be ‘very fine with a slight curve’. It was all about the silhouette, Frisoni say ...

"PALOOKA & MYSELF : It's Us Against the World' Sensation" - By Torrie Venus - I went to sleep Sunday night extra early and woke up not too long ago, thinking it was nearly that time for Palooka to 'rise and shine' for work preparation. I've been wanting to watch the two part "Bonnie & Clyde," so lo and behold, there is time to do just that. Palooka has no fascination nor slightest interest in the historic of the notoriously criminal bank heist couple, Bonnie Parker & Clyde Barker. I've always been somewhat intrigued by couples of a "renowned" celebrity : John Lennon & Yoko Ono, Sonny & Cher, Elizabeth Taylor & Richard Burton, Courtney Love & Kurt Cobaine, Johnny Cash & June Carter, Lucille Ball & Desi, Hillary & Bill Clinton, Syd & Nancy, Marilyn Monroe & Joe Demagio, Ike & Tina Turner, Marlon Brando & Wally Cox, Antony & Cleopatra - and Bonnie & Clyde. In the serious relationships I've had in my life - including the dramatic, hot and hilarious nature of Palooka & myself, there has always been an aspect . ...

Audrey Hepburn, Natalie Wood, Elizabeth Taylor, Olivia Hussey, Marilyn Monroe and many others. Actresses of 20th century were much more beautiful than the stupid fake Barbie dolls we see now, just like Pamela Anderson and Paris Hilton.
James Dean Myth-Debunking on September 30th: James Dean was not speeding when he was killed. He was observing the speed limit and obeying traffic laws. The other driver was at fault. If the local kid hadn't been protected by local police, the other driver would have been open to prosecution for vehicular manslaughter. James Dean was probably bisexual. To quote his best friend, William Bast, who is *** "To say Jimmy was *** is ridiculous. He slept with most of his female friends." Elizabeth Taylor's "bombshell" that Dean was molested as a child by a youth pastor is well known. The pastor was the fabled Reverend DeWeerd who was quite possibly a pederast. He did not know Marilyn Monroe -- at all. To anyone heading out to Fairmount today or any day, please keep in mind James Dean's home he was raised in is still the private residence of Markie and Mary Lou Winslow. These poor people have had Bob Dylan pound on their door at three in the morning. They're always gracious, but let's not push it, okay? B ...

My influence of old and new style of past and future influence, elegance and hip hops: Elizabeth Taylor, Marilyn Monroe, Tara Moss, Vivienne Westwood, Nom *D, Nike, Stella Mccartney, Kelly Osbourne, an underground of dark influence, too many to name, local op-shops, charity shops, friends, sales. I love Old Hollywood. I have an entire playlist of Marilyn Monroe & Mae West songs on my computer. Elizabeth Taylor & Audrie Hempburn were just amazing as well and in my opinion honestly deserved a little more than Marilyn. (Just a little. Marilyn was a foster child for *** sake. She lived a poor life as a kid.)

Open Letter to the mob with rocks pointed at Kim Kardashian: (Strap in, this is a long one) I don't dislike Kim Kardashian, to be honest, I don't think of her ever until I see her name on my feed followed by hateful words people feel comfortable saying because they fgure she will never see them. What I do pay attention to, is what the public reaction to her career means about the psychological state of our society. Whether you like her or not, she is the most polarizing and iconic figure of this generation of narcissism and 100 years from now her legacy will look very much like Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor. Here is why. I think it is inherently sexist that people feel the way they do about Kim K. I used to be well versed in Pop Culture. Kim and her family started appearing in the news well before her sex tape. I Remember watching E cover the Kardashians because their store was up and coming and Kim was friends with the first American "witches" Paris Hilton and Nicole RIchie (who turned out to be a ...
Yeah, Peggy Lee, Tallulah Bankhead, Elizabeth Taylor, Bette Davis, Joan Crawford, Judy Garland and Katharine Hepburn were better than that *** Marilyn Monroe. But Lucille Ball had them all beat. You can thank no one but Lucille Ball for any TV period!

Bettie Page, Elizabeth Taylor and Marilyn Monroe all look drop dead gorgeous!
I'm fairly sure that at some point in the lives of Marilyn Monroe, Sophia Loren, Bridget Bardot, Ava Gardner, Ingrid Bergman, Elizabeth Taylor, Natalie Wood, Angelina Jolie, or any other screen siren you can think of, somebody was probably looking at their modeling shots and thinking, "Hmm, this girl's got something. But can she act?" Well, friends, I had the "Hmm" moment four months ago, when my sister Becky Forbes sent me some of Samaria Nicole's photos. Last weekend, I auditioned Samaria for five hours in Atlanta--reading her for three different roles. And the resounding answer is, YES, Samaria can act!Just spoke to her today about the part I'm thinking of her for in FTF. She needs to talk it over with her mom and recover from the shock. She said she wasn't expecting this. Tomorrow we'll talk again, and then I hope to make a big announcement. This girl will be a star, if I have anything to say about it.
This girl has the voice between Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor, I am entranced.

ENJOYED LIZ AND *** LAST NIGHT.YES.I DID. It is truly a shame that Lindsay Lohan is getting crucified for what I thought was a very VERY enjoyable movie...We tuned in out of curiosity.for a good laugh.but found it extremely fascinating.I believe that the Media succeeded in tarnishing Lindsay's performance before the movie aired. And everyone (Us included) tuned it with that Pr... ejudice on our minds. It is Sad that people could not get past Lindsay's infamy and watch it objectively. Were we expecting a Meryl Streep performance?? NO.Was Lindsay AMAZING?? NO.But she was good...She really was. Lastly...Lindsay Lohan as Elizabeth Taylor was much more believable than Michelle Williams "Academy Award Nomination Worthy Performance" as Marilyn Monroe...!
Marilyn Monroe, Mae West, and Elizabeth Taylor are the pioneers of promiscuity.
Amazing Thank You Notes. What do Elizabeth Taylor, Roald Dahl, Marilyn Monroe, Neil Armstrong and Barack Obama have in common, besides being famous? Each of them wrote touching letters of gratitude, printed here in their original writing. For example, once upon a time (1989), a little girl named Amy sent a bottle of colored water, oil and glitter to Roald Dahl, who knew right away that this was a dream in a bottle inspired by his book, The BFG. In response, the author penned this short note to his 7-year-old fan: "I must write a special letter and thank you for the dream in the bottle. You are the first person in the world who has sent me one of these and it intrigued me very much. I also liked the dream..." (33174 reads) ""NCBP""

There is only one word to say after Madonna's extravaganza, spectacle and concert Tuesday night: Respect. Madonna tore it up on the dance floor at the age of 54. She shot her dancers up in a dance sequence rivaling the video game "Call of Duty." She bared her butt - with "Obama" written across her back. But she is nobody's baby. For many women, she is the one, the beginning and possibly the end. Even rapper Nicki Minaj, in a video segment at the concert, acknowledged, "There is only one queen and that's Madonna." Madonna showed us that a woman didn't have to be nice to succeed, even as U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton continues to struggle with her icy image. Madonna had children and marriages but was never defined by her partners, unlike Elizabeth Taylor and Angelina Jolie. Madonna is a singer who became a brand. There have been many women who tried to imitate, but fell short: Britney Spears, J. Lo, Lady Gaga. Most importantly, she is a megastar who did not self-destruct, unlike Marilyn Monroe. So ...
If I had to choose between Elizabeth Taylor or Marilyn Monroe it would be Liz. She was a beast
It's 50 years since Marilyn Monroe died. Elizabeth Taylor survived her for almost half a century. Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor were the two most famous actresses in the world and regardless of their alleged rivalry, we love and cherish both of them.
Bridget Bardot, Sophia Loren, Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor all this size, these are average sized women, same as the ones in the pic. The twiggy anorexic look is not healthy and very few women have the body type to achieve it. Why don't we see women like these as fashion models?

Over the weekend, I drove south of town on 160, along the Sacramento River. That Eagles song, "Hotel California"- I had heard the hotel that song is based on exists along the river here. Called the Ryde Hotel, which has been sat out there since the 1920s. So I travelled past rivertowns like Freeport, Courtland, Locke and Walnut Grove. (Very pretty along the river, and many of the towns were small but quaint.) Finally, you cross a bridge at Walnut Grove and much further is the area called Ryde...and there it was: The Ryde Hotel! There were palm trees, just like on the cover to the Eagles' album! I went inside, and the hotel had a cool art deco look. The hallway had pictures of famous celebrities who had stayed there: Marilyn Monroe, Clark Gable, Elizabeth Taylor, Robert Mitchum, etc. It seemed a small place, but cozy. The area behind the hotel was gorgeous, with an old-style pool, grass and a tower. This hotel was very picturesque, though I'm not sure why it would have sparked Don Henley enough to write a ...

Everybody loves Marilyn Monroe, but personally Elizabeth Taylor is my girl, followed by Audrey Hepburn, then Grace Kelly.
Recent Celebrity Deaths DOLPHY In the Western world we have a strange fascination with celebrities in general. Those well known faces we know so well from our movies, TV shows, gossip news and magazine front pages. Such glamor. Such beauty. Such enchanted lives to be envied. Such opportunities for projections... This fascination with celebrities gets really interesting when our particular heroes and heroines die. Whether through accidents like Princess Diana, James Dean. Whether through overdosing on their particular choice of drugs as Jimmy Hendrix and and Marilyn Monroe. Or after a long and successful career like Elizabeth Taylor and Humphrey Bogart. The deaths of our beloved celebrities seem to serve a function in our modern day society: they allow us to grieve and mourn publicly. They give us the opportunity to express feelings that we would have a hard time sharing over our more private losses. The offer us the opportunity of not feeling alone in our grief for this beloved idol.

Who likes old movies like i do? With real stars like Elizabeth Taylor, Marilyn Monroe, Doris Day, Cary Grant, Tyrone Power, Gregory Peck.. How I wish I was born in those days!!
The picture of Kate Winslet standing on the edge of the Titanic's deck with Leonardo Dicaprio's arms wrapped around her is truly a legendary image. I place that image in the same basket with that of Marilyn Monroe, standing over a ventilated hub,the image of a young Elizabeth Taylor, playing Scarlett O'hara in Gone with the wind and last but not least.a sultry Halle Berry emerging from the ocean in a orange swimsuit, diver's knife attached to her hip,in the 007 flick,Die Another Day. *Truly legendary images*
Seriously Rush? You do realize that the states that have legalized same sex marriage and/or civil unions are among those with the absolute lowest divorce rates now, don't you? So you're going to hold up Larry King, Mickey Rooney, Elizabeth Taylor, Marilyn Monroe, Brittney Spears, Newt Gingrich, any participant in "The Bachelor" or "Who Wants To Marry A Millionaire?", ANY Kardashian, as poster children for "traditional marriage". You, Rush Limbaugh, are a hypocrite of the worst kind.

In the holidays, I'm gonna watch every single Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor and Audrey Hepburn movie there is.
I think Hollywood has lost it's mind...they've cast Lindsay Lohan as Elizabeth Taylor...that earthquake California felt was Liz rolling over in her grave. Uma Thurman as Marilyn Monroe..too skinny for one thing.
