SONGFACTS! Mariah Carey's Hero claims this was intended for the 1992 Dustin Hoffman movie, also called Hero. The producers of the movie used Luther Vandross' "Heart Of A Hero" instead. Walter Afanasieff explained in Fred Bronson's Book of Billboard that the original intention was that Gloria Estefan would be asked to sing the title theme. He was recording the Music Box album with Carey at the time, and during a break he, "was sitting at the piano and told Mariah about this movie. Within two hours, we had this incredible seed for this song, 'Hero.'" Afanasieff added: "It was never meant for Mariah to sing. In her mind, we were writing a song for Gloria Estefan for this movie. And we went into an area that Mariah didn't really go into - in her words, it was a little bit too schmaltzy or too pop ballady or too old-fashioned as far as melody and lyrics." When it was nearly finished, they played the song to the president and COO of Sony Music Entertainment and Carey's fiancé Tommy Mottola, (later her husband) ...

Had a 75 minute thunderstorm playing on You Tube, then some smooth jazz, Mandy Moore a little bit, a lot of Bridgit Mendler, now some more smooth jazz. Just been trying to relax and check out my GameInformer magazine and chat. Kind of feel like going for a short walk, but it's 2:30 in the morning. I could walk a little more than a few blocks and turn back, but that's okay, I'll wait for another time. Right now, Luther Vandross and Mariah Carey are singing "Endless Love". After this I don't know what I am going to do. I still have my new Super Mario game that I haven't played yet cause I have been just chillin. I might play that then got to bed.

Grammy winning bassist and producer Marcus Miller has been in Studio "A" producing and cutting tracks for Alex Han's new album. Cue Recording Studios staffer Ken Schubert is at the engineering helm. Pictured are Marcus Miller, Alex Han and Corey Fonville on Drums. Marcus is well known for his work with Miles Davis, Mariah Carey, Michael Jackson, Herbie Hancock, Aretha Franklin, Donald Fagen, Elton John, Frank Sinatra, LL Cool J, Chaka Khan, Dr. John, David Sanborn, Luther Vandross, and Bill Withers. He was a mainstay in the Sunday Night Band during the "Sunday Night" show on NBC. He also wrote "Tutu" for Miles Davis. What a career! His previous band in the late 90's "Legends" featured himself, Eric Clapton, Joe Sample, David Sanborn, and Steve Gadd. The above notwithstanding, Marcus is super nice guy! We wish him and his artist Alex Han the best success with their new project!
If you find yourself at Walgreens or CVS before 5am, I promise you will hear music by either Mariah Carey or Luther Vandross.
Patti Labelle, Toni Braxton, Whitney Houston, Anita Baker, Mariah Carey, Peabo Bryson and Luther Vandross will have you feeling some type of way when you're in your chest.
It used to be back in the day when you listened to music on the radio you heard the dj mentioned the name of song and the artist who recorded the song.Nowadays these radio stations hardly ever do that if at all and what makes it worse is that you cant tell these modern so called artists apart.Theyre like cookie cutters of one another sounding all the time. when artists like James Brown,Micheal Jackson,Whitney Houston,Chaka Kahn,Aretha Franklin,Luther Vandross,Stevie Wonder,Toni Braxton,Stephanie Mills,Earth Wind and Fire,Janet Jackson or Mariah Carey were played on the radio you could tell them apart. In 2013,thats not the case anymore and all the music companies seem to want to make a fast buck at the expense of the musical quality. My theory is that there was a time when the quality and the money making potential mattered and now its just money and greed.

Big Band Chronology - Jan 26 Jan 26 On January 26, 1934, the Apollo reopened as a black-oriented theatre, nearly twenty years after it originally opened. The first black performance was an “all-colored review” called Jazz a la Carte. Billing itself as a place "where stars are born and legends are made," the Apollo became famous for launching the careers of artists such as Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, James Brown, Diana Ross & The Supremes, Gladys Knight & The Pips, The Jackson 5, Patti Labelle, Marvin Gaye, Luther Vandross, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Ben E. King, Mariah Carey, The Isley Brothers, Lauryn Hill, and Sarah Vaughan. One unique feature of the Apollo was "the executioner" a man with a broom who would sweep performers off the stage if the highly vocal and opinionated audiences began to call for their removal. Drummer Kenney Clarke, 71, dies 1985. Clarke helped to define bebop drumming. He was the first to shift the time-keeping rhythm from the bass drum to the ride cymbal, an innovat ...
