Uyu abaya kwasara Gorowa Igesund fired The South African Football Association has announced that they will not be renewing the contract of Bafana Bafana head coach Gordon Igesund. The SAFA powers-that-be met this afternoon and announced that they have agreed to part ways with Igesund after two years in charge. That means the goalless draw against New Zealand in Auckland last Friday was the former Manning Rangers, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns coach's last game in charge of the national team. And despite all the rumours linking Carlos Queiroz with the job, SAFA president Danny Jordaan insists no decision has been made on a replacement yet. "The process for finding a new coach will start immediately after this press conference," Jordaan said, before adding: "Wait until we make the announcement and then you can tell us if we made the right choice." In a later press release, Jordaan is quoted as saying SAFA are "looking for a candidate who will take Bafana Bafana back to the glory days. He should be s ...
First time i went to wAtch soccer was Kaizer Chiefs vs Manning Rangers on 1992. First time i saw Khungwane. He scored from a corner kick.
RIP to former Kaizer Chiefs,Manning Rangers player and Bafana Bafana and member of the Fat Cats family Isaac 'Shakes' Kungoa…
SAD NEWS: Supersp6rt Biltz:Former Kaizer Chiefs and Manning Rangers midfielder and Supersport analyst Isaac *Shake* kungwane has passed away after a short illness
083 Sportswith Robert Marawa wrote: After being in ICU for the past two days it's really sad to have to announce the sad passing away of a brother & colleague RIP Shakes Kungwane. Born Isaac "Shakes" Kungwane, he was amidfielder who played for Kaizer Chiefs, Jomo Cosmos, Pretoria City and Manning Rangers. During his spell at Kaizer Chiefs he wore the legendary number 11. Recently he was a popular commentator and presenter on SuperSport. Shakes was married to Precious in 1990. The two have three children
There's a particular football game that has remained beautifully etched on my mind. On that Saturday afternoon circa '96 Iwisa Kaizer Chiefs mauled Manning Rangers by 9 goals to 1. Shakes Kungwane was magical on that day. He caressed Miss Round, he stroked her gently, he made love to her. She ooohd and she aaahd! He did it so nonchalantly, so naturally. He was colossal on that day. That's my wonderful memory of Mshege. See, on my school-holiday sojourns to Alex, I used to see him as he'd come by and have a beer quart or two, (Ok, it was more than that). His footballing skills were legendary then but I just couldn't believe that this chubby guy downing Castle beer was being courted by Chiefs. He just didn't cut the cloth in my young and naïve mind. And then I saw him on TV strutting his magic... Farewell Shakes.
Mamelodi Sundowns...2013/2014 PSL Champions!!! Thnx 4 baby sittin our cup for 6 years!!! Now the records wil read... Mamelodi Sundowns with 6 championchips, Orlando Pirates 4, Supersport United & Kaizer Chiefs with 3, Santos & Manning Rangers with 1 each... Catch us if u can...fight for Nedbank instead!!!
good because he failed dismally with the Under 23, Manning Rangers, Platinum Stars, Free State Stars he's a loser.
I remember when South Africa beat Brasil in the Olympic Games a few years ago and I was listening to the Robert Marawa show on Metro. Instead of giving the team plaudits, listeners were complaining that the coach Shakes Mashaba was playing too many Coloured players. A few years later Carlos Queiroz was accused of the same thing. Some of these incidents are vital factors why people from other communities are not taking soccer seriously and why we have a lost generation of "non racial"players.Yes, we cannot field a multi racial team now because of that lost generation. The only way we can improve football in this country is to revive "non racial"football at grassroots level. After all didn't we win AFCON with a multi racial team..didn't Durban City, Cape Town Spurs, Manning Rangers and Santos win the leagues at the advent of "integrated" football !!??
Sundowns outplayed in Zambian warm-up clash Mamelodi Sundowns were beaten 3-2 by top Zambian club Power Dynamos in the first of their friendly matches on tour in the Copperbelt, where coach Pitso Mosimane has taken his side to toughen up for the re-start of the Premier Soccer League campaign. The Brazilians were caught out by a last minute winner for their hosts at the newly-built Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on the outskirts of Ndola after being level 2-2 at half-time. Sundowns were participating in a four team tournament also involving Zesco United and the Congolese club CS Don Bosco, who SuperSport United eliminated from the African Confederation Cup last year. Sundowns’ two goals came from Wayne Arendse and Cuthbert Malajila. Kombe Chipeta, who is on trial at the Zambian club, scored the decisive goal for Dynamos were coached by Tenant Chilumba, who spent much of his career in South Africa at Free State Stars and Manning Rangers. Sundowns next play CS Don Bosco in Ndola on Wednesday and then Zesco United ...
Mambas ready for Bafana showdown Bafana Bafana's opponents tonight Mozambique have declared their readiness for the 2014 African Nations Championship (Chan) opener at Cape Town Stadium. READ: Khune impressed by Bafana rookies Following an intensive two-month training camp, The Mambas feel they stand a fair chance of upsetting their fancied neighbours, who they have never beaten in all four previous meetings. "We have had almost two months of preparation playing Namibia, Swaziland and Zimbabwe in friendly games so I feel we have prepared well," Mozambique assistant coach Helder 'Mano-Mano' Muianga, who has played and coached in South Africa, tells KickOff.com. "With the players that we have I feel we have a good team ready to compete against anyone including Bafana Bafana. We will definitely be playing to win." The former Manning Rangers, Black Leopards and Jomo Cosmos defender adds that they have no injuries in their camp with all their selected players ready to do duty. Mano-Mano and head coach Joao Chis ...
Tico-Tico helps young Mozambique team Former Jomo Cosmos star Manuel 'Tico-Tico' Bucuane is working as an ambassador to the national team of Mozambique at Chan 2014 and says he is doing what he can to encourage the young Mambas squad. Mozambique face Bafana Bafana in Saturday's opening game of the 2014 African Nations Championship (Chan) and Tico-Tico is adding support to a technical team that sees Helder ‘Mano-Mano’ Muianga as the country’s assistant coach. Mano-Mano was once an important player for Manning Rangers and, like Tico-Tico, enjoyed a successful career in South Africa. He also played for Black Leopards, Dynamos and Jomo Cosmos. “My role is to help our young squad at CHAN and encourage the players. We have some talented players in the group but it is a very young side,” Tico-Tico said. “I am not part of the coaching staff, but I am here to lend support and a helping hand wherever I can.” Asked about the era where he, Mano-Mano and the likes of Tomas Inguana all enjoyed careers in ...
Komphela has bounced back quickly into management and was appointed on Monday as Maritzburg United’s new coach. He is the third coach of the season for the struggling KwaZulu-Natal club, who saw Ernst Middendorp go to Bloemfontein Celtic in October and then fired Clinton Larsen after just eight games in charge. Komphela had been sacked by Free State Stars last month but is now in charge of his fifth different club. His coaching career, which included a stint in charge of the South Africa’s under-23 side, has seen him work as head coach at Manning Rangers (two stints), Dynamos, Free State Stars (two stints) and Platinum Stars. The 46-year-old has signed a two- and-a-half year contract with The Team of Choice. He took his first full training session with the team on Monday.. Komphela’s first task will be to try and restore confidence in a squad that has just a single win in their last 11 matches and currently sits one place above the relegation playoff position on goal-difference. Maritzburg have also ...
Steve Komphela is set be named the new Maritzburg United after Clinton Larsen was sacked by the Team of Choice. Larsen was only in charge for nine games since joining Maritzburg after resigning from Bloemfontein Celtic earlier this season, but could only manage one win in his time in charge, while losing six. Komphela was at Free State Stars for over three seasons before he was let go just over a month ago. It was his second stint at the Bethlehem club Our sources say that the former Bafana Bafana captain will return to Maritzburg for his second stint, having previously coached them in the 2006-2007 season. Komphela who has also coached at Platinum Stars, Manning Rangers and Dynamos, was caretaker coach of Bafana Bafana before Gordon Igesund took over, and was a front-runner for the head coach position at one time. He was also coach of the South African under 20 and under 23 teams.
Strange PSL facts: *Siyabonga Nomvethe is the only PSL player to win PSL Player of the Season award twice. *Swallows is the team that has produced the highest number of PSL top goalscorers but they have never won the PSL *In their 7 seasons in the PSL, Maritzburg United has never finished in the top 8. Infact their best position ever is 11 * Neil Tovey is the only former Bafana player to win the PSL as head coach *No player has ever won PSL top goalscorer twice. *2 former PSL winners have since been relegated. That is Santos (1st div) & Manning Rangers-the 1st ever PSL winners (defunct) *Mabhuti Khenyeza is in the top 4 highest PSL goalscorers of all time with 100 goals behind Tico Tico (104), Mambush & Bhele tied now via Nokia 3310

17. Benedict Saul McCarthy BIOGRAPHY INFO: Benni McCarthy was born in Cape Town and grew up in Hanover Park on the Cape Flats, an area notorious for its high unemployment rate and gang violence. His older brother is Jerome McCarthy, a former professional footballer who played for both Kaizer Chiefs and Manning Rangers among other clubs, whereas; his younger brother Mark played football at Franklin Pierce University in the United States. McCarthy started playing at a local side called Young Pirates which was managed by his uncles, and then he joined the youth structures of a local amateur club called Crusaders. Under 16 Div 1 New Ross Celtic 0 Gorey Rangers 0 The under 16s were desperately unlucky not to get the 3 points in this one.The team that started was Eoin Cummins Darren Rowe Ritchie Gill Sean Duffy Eoin Doyle Brandon Gardiner Paul Manning Thomas O Connor Michael Kelly Conor Hennessy and Jack Power. The boys started superbly with brilliant play from Michael Kelly down the right and from Jack Power having a few long range shots and had chances from corners. With some solid defending from Sean and Ritchie Gorey never looked threatening, and with Thomas O Connor controlling the midfield the boys looked comfortable. The first real chance fell to Paul Manning,he picked the ball up on the edge of the box and made his way into the box but the keeper was equal to his shot. The second half started and the boys were right back in control with some great passing and tenacious defending. The boys had a great chance when Paul Manning played a ball over the top to Michael Kelly whose shot beat the goal keeper but a Gorey def ...

Training of 30 new SANParks armed field rangers completed 30 Nov 2012 07:27 South African National Parks (SANParks) has 30 new armed field rangers after a passing-out parade held on 23 November 2012 at the Weltrac Training Centre, situated in the Welgevonden Game Reserve near Thabazimbi in the Limpopo Province. The 30 graduates are part of SANParks environmental monitors from Kgalagadi, Mokala, Addo Elephant and Kruger National Parks. Antionet van Wyk, SANParks general manager for Infrastructure and Special Projects, said the main reason for training the field rangers is to complement the parks existing staff for area integrity management in various national parks. They will be a support to conservation staff and perform duties that will enable SANParks field rangers to attend to critical functions such as law enforcement. The keynote address was given by Johan Kruger, technical manager at Kgalagadi National Park. "We are very proud of our new graduates and their eagerness to build on their skills portfol ...

South African legend of the day goes to Isaac "SHAKES" Kungwane. Played as a midfielder for Jomo Cosmos, Kaizer Chiefs, Pretoria City, Santos, Manning Rangers, SA City Pillars. His career was sadly cut short due to injury. A great footballer with a bubbly personality, never a dull day when Shakes is around.

Stolen status. An emotional story of reclaiming Gloria My name is Kaizer Chiefs from Phefeni but currently staying in Naturena. I am 42 years old. I got married to my lovely wife Gloria in 1974 and we enjoy the best of 1976, 1977, 1979, 1981, 1984 together under National Professional Soccer League. Thereafter we broke apart for five years and remarried in 1989 under the National Soccer League. We had the b est of 1991, 1992 under NSL but we broke up again for a record 11 years between 1992 to 2003. What broke my heart was that in 1994, Gloria was married by my nemesis Orlando Pirates. 1994 was the most difficult year as Orlando Pirates with the undying support of Gloria later won the African Championship Cup for the first time in the history of Mzansi Diski and also the history of Southern Africa football. It is the highest accolade achieved by Southern African team and the Orlando Pirates record of 17 years achievement is still unbeaten. Let's just say if Nickel's boots ebeyi football club, they'd be Manning Rangers :/
I wonder what is wrong with all Bafana Bafana coaches, especially Igesund. The man has successful history in local football, he won league with Manning Rangers for crying out loud, he took Moroka Swallows from drowning to top 2 in the last season. Now that he got the Bafana job, he wants a team with International experience. Has there been any European team that when it was about to play an African team, it wanted its players to have an 'African' experience. There is no way to beat Europeans while faking their original game play. He should use local players and play kasi football
When I started out in radio journalism, I never thought that I would read the line "Bafana Bafana coach, Gordon Igesund" in a current affairs show. 15 years later, a former Manning Rangers coach is leading the country's boys. It IS possible. Anything is possible, everything is . For this, we must have faith.
