CHELSEA PICS: Manchester United fans: "Shinji Kagawa is better than Eden Hazard."
The Scot brought the Japan international to Manchester United in 2012, and believes the record signing from Chelsea was the decisive moment of his time in England Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson says Shinji Kagawa "gave up hope a bit" after Juan Mata signed for the club in January. Ferguson brought Kagawa to Old Trafford from Borussia Dortmund in 2012, but the playmaker moved back to Germany in August after two difficult seasons in England. David Moyes, like his predecessor Ferguson, often used Kagawa on the left of midfield rather than in his preferred central role, and made Mata, also a No.10, the club's then record signing at £37 million. Louis Van Gaal, who later replaced Moyes as manager, made the decision to let Kagawa go shortly after taking the reigns in Manchester, but Ferguson believes the decisive moment was the signing of Mata. "Every manager has his own philosophy. When Moyes signed the Spanish superstar Mata, Kagawa felt that he no longer was the first choice, and gave up ...

Sir Alex Ferguson admits Manchester United needed a "big injection" of talent this summer and praised Louis Van Gaal for the six "quality" signings he made. United spent 153 million pounds -- the most ever paid by an English club in a transfer window -- to bring in Angel Di Maria, Radamel Falcao, Luke Shaw, Ander Herrera, Marcos Rojo and Daley Blind. And their most successful manager believes the Dutchman had to overhaul the squad -- which largely consisted of Ferguson's own signings, some of whom were sold or loaned out as Javier Hernandez, Danny Welbeck, Shinji Kagawa, Tom Cleverley, Alexander Buttner , Wilfried Zaha and Nani were among those Van Gaal allowed to leave. The Scot never spent more than 62 million pounds in a single transfer window during his 26- year reign at Old Trafford, which ended with his retirement in 2013. In contrast, Di Maria cost a British record fee of 59.7 million pounds when he joined from Real Madrid, and Ferguson told MUTV: "I think when you can identify ability like that ne ...
Alex Ferguson reveals why Shinji Kagawa left Manchester United "MOYES" Sir Alex Ferguson believes his successor, David Moyes, caused Japan international Shinji Kagawa to leave Manchester United for Borussia Dortmund in the summer. Speaking to German newspaper Bild, the United legend said that Moyes’ decision to spend a club-record fee on Spanish playmaker Juan Mata in January effectively signalled the end of Kagawa’s brief spell at Old Trafford. "Shinji is back in the environment in which he feels right. And he has with [Jurgen] Klopp a coach who gives him the necessary self-confidence,” Ferguson commented. "I was very pleased with Shinji. He had settled in well with me, and I also had the feeling that he felt comfortable with us. " "Every coach has his own philosophy. As Moyes preferred the Spanish superstar Mata, Kagawa has felt that he is no longer first choice and was a bit resigned."

Came across this in another group. Whoever wrote this, couldn't have said it in a better way. I really feel bad about how we handled him during his time at the club. Open Letter to Shinji Kagawa from a Manchester United fan .. Hello Shinji, I called it destiny when you arrived at Manchester United. I call it injustice when you have left just two years later. Every United fan was genuinely excited when you arrived. Having watched you tear it up for Dortmund, we were sure we had signed a world class player who would transform the club. You were going to be our number 10. United had been famous for wing play, crosses and mainly the 4-4-2. We believed that you will bring about the modernization of the club, change the way we played. We were licking our lips at the thought of you and Rooney linking up. I still vividly remember watching the first game of the 2012-13 season against Everton. On a night when everyone else struggled, you caught the eye by nonchalantly putting Javier Hernandez through on goal twice. ...
Report: Shinji Kagawa returns to Borussia Dortmund on permanent transfer German outfit Bild is reporting Manchester United have sold Shinji Kagawa back to Borussia Dortmund after two miserable seasons on the sidelines at Old Trafford. Fellow German paper Kicker is corroborating that story. According to Bild, Kagawa has signed for his former club Dortmund for $10.5 million on a four-year contract. It would be a great bit of business for Dortmund, who sold their playmaker to United for nearly triple that value just two summers ago. The report says Kagawa has postponed his medical with a few financial details still to iron out in his deal, but that the medical should be completed “quickly.” The report says the deal will be completed by tomorrow. Kagawa was a creative force at Westfalenstadion before his move to Manchester United, but he spent his two seasons at Old Trafford largely on the bench, if that. He made just 38 Premier League appearances for United as Sir Alex Ferguson, David Moyes, and Louis v ...

Manchester United will complete their fifth summer signing with a £14million move for Daley Blind - subject to a medical and personal terms. The 24-year-old, who plays his club football with Ajax, impressed under United boss Louis Van Gaal at the World Cup and has made no secret of his desire to link up again. Ajax boss Frank de Boer admitted the player would move on, should his price tag be reached and United have now done so. The Dutchman is expected to fly to England today and be unveiled tomorrow, before returning to his homeland for the international break. Blind's versatility makes him an ideal recruit for Van Gaal who is desperate to bolster his squad before Monday's deadline. United have already brought in Luke Shaw and Marcos Rojo - both left-back's - this summer and it is thought Blind could well be deployed in a holding midfielder role. Meanwhile, Van Gaal is eager to cut his squad down and offload another five players after Wilfried Zaha's departure. England striker Danny Welveck remains a ta ...
It’s looking increasingly likely that Japanese star Shinji Kagawa will leave Manchester United to return to Borussia Dortmund before the transfer window closes on August 31st. German paper Der Westen are reporting on Friday that, whilst United and BVB are yet to finalise terms, Kagawa has agreed to make the move back to the Westfalenstadion. Der Westen add that the “evidence is mouthing” that the Kagawa deal will happen, and that “Dortmund and the Japanese star are already agreed” on the deal. Looking further afield, reports are swirling that Dortmund will re-sign Kagawa, whom they sold to United for €17 million, for just over €10 million plus a possible €2.5 million in add-ons. That would seem like a brilliant bit of business for Jurgen Klopp’s outfit. Other tidbits relayed by Der Westen include the fact that BVB’s Kevin Grosskreutz called up Kagawa this week to convince his old teammate to return to the Bundesliga club.

Jurgen Klopp's side is keen to take the Japan international on a season-long loan with a view to a permanent move after he was told he is not wanted at Old Trafford Borussia Dortmund is in talks to re-sign Manchester United forward Shinji Kagawa. The Japan international was an integral part of the Dortmund side that won back-to-back Bundesliga titles, prompting a 21.4 million euro million move to Old Trafford in 2012. Kagawa struggled to acclimatize in his first season despite contributing towards United’s 20th league title, while injuries allied to a chronic loss of form and confidence saw him restricted to making just 30 appearances in all competitions under David Moyes last season. After running the rule over his squad in preseason and the early part of the Premier League campaign Louis Van Gaal has deemed Kagawa, who is likely to have made his final United appearance in the embarrassing 4-0 defeat against MK Dons in the Capital One Cup on Tuesday, surplus to requirements. Manchester United legend Paul Scholes agrees with new manager Louis Van Gaal that the squad he inherited from former boss David Moyes is unbalanced. Van Gaal recently described his squad as a quality group of players, but insisted they had been left “broken” by their failings under Moyes last season. And speaking at an event in Oldham to promote prostrate cancer awareness, Scholes told Sky Sports News he agreed with the Dutchman's assessment, adding the loss of left-back Patrice Evra is a significant one. "He said it himself and the squad looks unbalanced to me,” Scholes said. “They have a number of number tens, with Juan Mata, Shinji Kagawa and Adnan Januzaj, and Ander Herrera looks more like a number ten than a central midfield player. “Tom Cleverely you could argue is a number ten as well, so there is a lot of them type of players but they are struggling a little bit for defenders. “Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Jonny Evans are the only recognised defenders. Louis Van Gaal maintained his unbeaten record as Manchester United boss following a penalty shootout win over Inter Milan in Washington DC. All five United penalty takers found the net in a 5-3 showdown that followed a 0-0 draw after 90 minutes. United only registered one shot on target in the first half, but they upped their game after the break. Substitute Wilfried Zaha, making his first appearance of the tour, was particularly impressive playing as a striker, as was Luke Shaw. Zaha, and Tom Cleverley were unlucky not to be awarded penalties in normal time at the FedEx Field. David De Gea only had one save to make during the match and he watched Marco Andreoli hit the bar from 12 yards, which allowed Darren Fletcher to fire home the winner. The ex-Bayern Munich chief prefers to play with one playmaker behind the main striker, and with Wayne Rooney his obvious choice behind Robin Van Persie in attack, Mata could be sacrificed to raise funds ...
Odds and ends • Didier Drogba could make a sensational return to Stamford Bridge as Chelsea battle AC Milan for his signature. The 36-year-old has confirmed his intention to leave Galatasaray in the summer, and the Daily Star reports that Jose Mourinho would love to be reunited with his former charge. The Blues boss faces losing Eden Hazard, however, with the Mirror claiming Paris Saint Germain have made the Belgian their number one target at a cost of 50 million pounds. For their part, Chelsea have repeatedly said they won't sell. • Good news, Manchester United fans -- Shinji Kagawa hopes to stay at the club despite being linked with a transfer back to Borussia Dortmund. "Shinji will play the World Cup now and then see what the new Manchester United manager's plans are," Kagawa's agent Thomas Kroth told Kicker magazine. "Right now, it is rather unlikely that he will leave the club in the summer."

The Woods World Cup Countdown 24th : Japan This is a fifth consecutive World Cup for Japan, but they are yet to progress beyond the round of 16. Last time out in South Africa, they were beaten on penalties in the R16 by Paraguay after progressing through a relatively soft group. The Samurai Blues sauntered through AFC qualifying, but given the confederation's status as the weakest in world football, that is hardly an achievement. In a group Colombia, Ivory Coast and Greece, Japan will simply be overmatched in all three games and I expect the best they could hope for would be a tie against either Ivory Coast or Greece, though the prospect seems unlikely. Player to watch: Shinji Kagawa. Known to most watchers of the Premier League, Kagawa has so far failed to nail down a spot in an overcrowded Manchester United attack. Despite this, Kagawa certainly has the ability and tenacity to unlock a defence and win a game.

Man United Make Barcelona Midfielder Cesc Fabregas Transfer Priority Number One. Having failed with multiple bids for Barcelona star Cesc Fabregas one would have thought that Man United would have opted to consider other possible midfield targets but according to the Guardian the Old Trafford side will once again attempt to lure the Spanish international back to the Premier League. Read great Manchester United stories in Indonesian Bahasa! Manchester United berita. Man United could well do with freshening up their midfield and the likes of Darren Fletcher, Michael Carrick, Tom Cleverley and Shinji Kagawa may all be fighting for their futures at the club and as such a move for reinforcements in the area make a great deal of sense. Whilst it’s true that Fabregas is often hauled off and does occasionally fail to make it into Gerardo Martino’s starting eleven for key games the simple fact is that the Former Arsenal man has played more football for Barcelona than any other outfield player and is the club ...
Ryan Giggs era began with Manchester United way, aka SAF way in terms of formation, tactics, substitution etc. The difference is Ryan Giggs in the hot seat, instead of SAF. It's a smart way by GIGGSY11, with which David Moyes! did not even try, he used his own way. One thing for sure, players especially Patrice Evra have finally stepped up and really worked so hard tonight for GIGGSY11, because he is Ryan Giggs, one of the most respected person in Man Utd at the past and presence. This is a safe and entertaining match, there will be more in the future?.at the expense of the partnership of Jones and Smalling, Adnan Januzaj, Alexander Buttner, etc??...and as usual, Shinji Kagawa has to play as left winger.quite familiar situations in SAF era.who said we need revamp..who said we have problems to solve...importantly the fear factors are back and the same old cheers come from fans.can we buy back our captain Nemanja Vidic? can we extend Rio & Evra contracts?

No less than ELEVEN first teamers at Manchester United could be offloaded in the summer. Three members of the Glazer family - expected to be co-chairmen Joel and Avram Glazer and director Bryan - will meet with executive vice- chairman Ed Woodward today following the bitter fall-out of David Moyes' axing. The Daily Express says United are prepared to ship out a number of players to make way for new additions. Veteran defender Nemanja Vidic will join Inter Milan on July 1, while there are question marks over the futures of Rio Ferdinand, Patrice Evra , Nani, Anderson, Javier Hernandez , Alex Buttner, Tom Cleverley , Shinji Kagawa, Danny Welbeck and Robin Van Persie.
From GiveMeSport.com: "Shinji Kagawa, Javier Hernandez, Rio Ferdinand, Tom Cleverley, Darren Fletcher and Ashley Young were all linked with moves away from the club during Moyes' time at Old Trafford after falling out of favour during periods of the season. Gary Neville believes that David Moyes needs to use Juan Mata in his natural No. 10 position more often at Manchester United to allow his partnership with Shinji Kagawa to grow. In the win over Newcastle, Mata and Kagawa set the pitch alight with their fluid football and it was no coincidence that we did so with Mata operating behind the striker in his No. 10 role. With Kagawa running past him, Mata was able to dictate and dominate while Kagawa’s intelligent runs opened up spaces that Mata was able to exploit. Many saw Mata’s arrival as a nail in the coffin for Kagawa’s career at Old Trafford but in contrast, it has been the kiss of life as their natural style of football compliments each other. Now that there is nothing to play for, Moyes should try to show us footballing philosophy (if he has one) and Neville believes both Mata and Kagawa can be crucial to that. Do you think Gary Neville is right?
Bayern Munich 3-1 Manchester United: Guardiola uses his full-backs in midfield, but Bayern better with a standard system April 10, 2014 The starting line-ups Pep Guardiola played an unusual system, but it didn’t help Bayern break down Manchester United. Guardiola fielded Toni Kroos in the pivot role, with Thomas Muller in midfield and Mario Mandzukic returning upfront. David Moyes brought Shinji Kagawa and Darren Fletcher into his midfield, and recalled Patrice Evra and Chris Smalling at the back. The pattern of the game wasn’t significantly different from the first leg, and the major talking point was Guardiola’s use of his two full-backs. Lahm plays two positions It was surprising that Lahm was seemingly deployed as a right-back, considering Guardiola was without both Thiago Alcantara and Bastian Schweinsteiger from his midfield zone, and therefore Lahm was surely required in the holding role he’s occupied for most of this season. However, moving Lahm to right-back also made sense considering Ma ...

David Moyes suggested Wayne Rooney would be fit to play and true to the Manchester United manager's word, the striker is in the starting XI. Rio Ferdinand drops to the bench, with Chris Smalling taking his place in the side. Patrice Evra, Darren Fletcher and Shinji Kagawa come in for Alex Buttner, Marouane Fellaini and Ryan Giggs respectively. Meanwhile, defender Dante, midfielder Mario Gotze and forward Mario Mandzukic come into the Bayern Munich side. There is no place for right-back Rafinha, with Philipp Lahm taking up his position.
Manchester United's team for the game against Bayern Munich appears to have leaked, according to the Daily Mirror, with Rio Ferdinand dropped from the side. Chris Smalling takes the place of the veteran defender at centre-back, while Phil Jones is at right-back, and Shinji Kagawa starts in the hole, with Antonio Valencia and Danny Welbeck out wide. There is also a place for Darren Fletcher, who partners Michael Carrick in midfield. The reported team in full: De Gea; Jones, Smalling, Vidic, Evra; Carrick, Fletcher; Valencia, Kagawa, Welbeck; Rooney.
Manchester United's attempts to sign Borussia Dortmund midfielders Ilkay Gundogan, 23, and 24-year-old Marco Reus will be boosted by the German club's willingness to re-sign Shinji Kagawa, 24, who Red Devils boss David Moyes is prepared to let go.

A lacklustre first half came to life in the 39th minute when Mata curled an exquisite free-kick past Rob Elliot and into the top corner, and the Spaniard then showed great composure to make it 2-0 five minutes into the second half after being found in the box by Javier Hernandez. Hernandez added a third with a predatory finish from Shinji Kagawa's pass and Mata provided another moment of magic to set up the fourth as a clever back-heel allowed Adnan Januzaj to fire home and complete the rout. Moyes’ accidental Kagawa master-stroke and its effect on Bayern Munich Vincent Ralph22 hours ago 30 22 8 0 David Moyes was forced to bring on Shinji Kagawa earlier than expected for Manchester United on Tuesday, but it worked brilliantly. £25 free bet with WINNER: Bet on Man Utd to win Four wins from four matches – that was Shinji Kagawa’s outstanding record against Bayern Munich during his time at Borussia Dortmund. But when the German champions came to Old Trafford, the Japanese play-maker found himself back on the bench, much to the annoyance of a portion of Manchester United fans. But following an injury to the evergreen Ryan Giggs, Kagawa found his way on to the pitch perhaps earlier than David Moyes would have envisaged, only to have an impact that should not be understated. The sight of Kagawa standing on the side-lines ready to take to the field would have had an unnerving effect on some of those Bayern players who knew what he was capable of. Manchester United roared back from conceding first to Aston Villa thanks to a brace by Wayne Rooney, Juan Mata's first goal for the club since his record move from Chelsea and Javier Hernandez's late effort. David Moyes' men made a disappointing start and fell behind when David De Gea was unable to keep out Ashley Westwood's powerful free-kick on 13 minutes. Yet Juan Mata and Shinji Kagawa switched positions regularly to good effect and both were involved in the move that led to the equaliser as Rooney expertly headed past Brad Guzan. Rooney was on the scoresheet again with an emphatically-taken penalty just before the interval, after Leandro Bacuna chopped down Mata as he dragged the ball back inside the area. Christian Benteke missed a sitter when miskicking and allowing substitute Michael Carrick, on at centre-back, to clear. The muscular striker also headed over a Marc Albrighton cross moments later. However, Alex Büttner's brave header led to Marouane Fellaini supplying a touch inside the area and t ...
A letter from a Fan 29 March 2014 Dear, Manchester United's Manager David Moyes I would like to say congratulation for the W today. I'm glad to see Shinji Kagawa play alongside Juan Mata and Wayne Rooney. But, There is something you have to concern about a Tactic to play with FC Bayern München in the Champions League. There are some player that you ask him to play didn't play well enough as we saw, So here is my comment. I would like to see the "3 Number 10" Tactic in the future which I built and tried it in Football Manager and it worked so well ! The 3 Number 10 plan works on a basic 4-2-3-1 tactic which you need 3 fantastic number 10 players playing behind the 9. And those 3 fantastic number 10 players are Shinji, Juan and Wayne. First, We should see Javier "Chicharito" Hernández play as a Striker instead of Danny Welbeck. Because, Javier is simply better than Danny in Finishing and Finding a space and of course, Off the ball skills which Danny who has a more pace but lack of keeping ball skills shou ...

Wayne Rooney on the half line takes control of the ball and smashes the ball from his shoelaces as he finds the goalkeeper off his post and what do you know, it's Wazza's day as the ball calmly bounces into the net and Manchester United are ahead! It was Wayne's day as not only did he score the goal which probably is Premier League's goal of the season but he also etched his mark in United's history as the third highest goal scorer displacing the legendary Jack Rowley :) It was also wonderful to see Juan Mata play in his preferred position and Shinji Kagawa making a start. Rooney doubled the lead and sealed 3 points for David Moyes! All in all 'Wazza day it was!' GGMU :) PS: Get well soon, Robin Van Persie.

Well well, we have had a nice weekend. Manchester United back with a bang and Manchester City yet again loses to Wigan Athletic. Next week we face Liverpool who does not have any match this week. So they are probably more rested and likely to be strong. But that ain't a problem. We as a whole team have improved and found a new pair in Phil Jones and Chris Smalling. Also, with Fellaini our mid field has improved. Juan Mata , Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie lead the attack. However, David Moyes in the recent Press Conference stated that Shinji Kagawa will be given more playing time. This is a good news to all of us. The lad gave a cameo against West Brom. Meanwhile, Michael Keane, the promising centre back is loaned for rest of the season to Blackburn Rovers.

Moyes and his Manchester United players decamped on Wednesday night to Umezushi on Mirabel Street in an attempt to rebuild morale after their Champions League defeat to Olympiakos. But the evening took an uncomfortable turn when Moyes consistently ignored Kagawa’s attempts to explain the various exotic foodstuffs on offer, instead asking England winger Young for his thoughts on the relative merits of inarizushi and gunkanmaki. “It was really awkward,” a Manchester United player, speaking on condition of anonymity, “Shinji’s mid-way through explaining that the negitoromaki might be a better bet than the funazushi on account of the latter being made with fermented carp, when the gaffer turns his back on him and asks Ashley for his thoughts on natto maki. “When Ashley says he doesn’t know what natto maki is, we all assume he ...
Diabolical United lose to Olympiacos Champions League, Karaiskakis Stadium - Olympiacos 2 (Dominguez 38’ Campbell 54’) Manchester United 0 Manchester United appalled their way to a 2-0 defeat at Olympiacos. United struggled to put a pass together in the opposition half, and Olympiacos exploited the obvious lack of competence and confidence. Their best chance came when Tom Cleverley flashed a chance wide from a corner. Olympiacos’ first goal came when Joel Campbell’s shot was blocked, and drifted out to an unmarked Giannis Maniatis, whose poor shot was heading wide until Alejandro Dominguez flicked it in the opposite direction, past the stranded David De Gea. United’s similarly poor second half performance was duly punished when Campbell scored a fantastic goal, curling the ball around Rio Ferdinand from 25 yards. Cleverley and Antonio Valencia, poor but not the only poor United players, were replaced by Shinji Kagawa and Danny Welbeck, but it made absolutely no difference to an alarmingly pathet ...

Man United ace set for £15m move Turkish giants Besiktas are preparing a £15million move for Manchester United outcast Shinji Kagawa, according to the Daily Star. The 24-year old Japan international has not lived up to the £24million fee Sir Alex Ferguson paid for the midfielder in 2012. But Juan Mata’s £37.1million arrival from Chelsea in January means Kagawa has been pushed further down the Old Trafford pecking order, with Besiktas reportedly willing to end his Premier League nightmare. Borussia Dortmund are also interested in brining Kagawa back to the Bundesliga, a move that is thought to be preferable to the Japanese midfielder. David Moyes is hoping to recoup as much of the original fee paid for him as possible but may propose a deal that would see Ilkay Gundogan go the other way. Manchester United transfer boost as Borussia Dortmund show interest in Shinji Kagawa, opening door for Gundogan swoop …
Manchester United are in no doubt in need of a system overhaul. They have been losing focus, fading and have looked like nothing like the big team previously feared by many. They currently sit 15 points behind the league leaders and frustration in the Red Devils' dressing room must be high. With the summer transfer window a few months away, the rumour mill is now churning and it seems like David Moyes could be planning to bring some big names to the club. All in all, that would be great news for the fans but not so great for some of the players. Players such as Javier Hernandez, Danny Welbeck and Tom Cleverly spring to mind. Although they have each tried to prove their worth, they must be getting fed up at the lack of chances to play. One such star is energetic Mexian striker Chicharito. When he came to the club in 2011, he had so much promise and even lived up to his hype. But ever since Robin Van Persie's arrival, starting berths have been hard to come by. Shinji Kagawa was brought in to hopefully act a ...

Juan Mata is linked with a move to Manchester United. David Moyes is reportedly considering a £40million bid for Juan Mata – that’s Chelsea’s asking price. Strangely, Juan Mata is possibly the last position that needs to be strengthened. The Daily Mail make the tenuous link between chances created vs Manchester United’s current central midfielders. They, quite simply, cannot be compared in this fashion. Juan Mata is a number 10. United already have Shinji Kagawa and Wayne Rooney for that position. Simple as that. The Daily Mail suggest that Mata –Chelsea’s two-time player of the year – is desperate to leave the Blues. Given Mata’s possible Spain World Cup squad exclusion without first-team football, it is little wonder that stars empathize with the former Valencia man. Mourinho prefers Willian, Oscar and Hazard ahead of Juan Mata. United need a central midfielder alongside Carrick and that, simply put, is not Mata
HALFTIME VERDICT: David Moyes has been punished for dead. Why change a winning outfit? Two key changes Ashley Young and Jones for Shinji Kagawa and Daren Fletcher are were unwarranted. The two haven't justified their inclusion in the side. Why would Moyes for instance rush Jones who has been sidelined due to injury and keep Fletcher who had steadied his game with Carrick at the heart of the midfield? Two goals down against Jose Mourinho and you have one half to play, Moyes and his team will require magic to turn this around. Big decisions required! Chelsea 2-0 Manchester United

Manchester United version 2013-14: Simply not good enough By AlexThanopoulos, Picture this: Tottenham and manager Andre Villas-Boas, coming off a 6-0 battering at the hands of Man City, have Man United next up at home. AVB and Co., still licking their wounds, find a Manchester United team sheet that consists of Danny Welbeck, Tom Cleverley and Antonio Valencia partnering Wayne Rooney and Shinji Kagawa in attack. Throw in a defence that leaks more than Julian Assange, and all of a sudden you have a team that can believe that can be up against the reigning Premier League Champions and think “this doesn’t look a daunting task.” Quite frankly it isn’t, and it wasn’t. They drew 2-2. We all know that David Moyes’ Manchester United are struggling. Loses to the hands of Manchester City and Liverpool are not rare in United’s dominant history. Manchester United boss David Moyes has confirmed Shinji Kagawa is a doubt for Saturday's Premier League encounter with Newcastle. The Japan playmaker has picked up a sickness bug and was ill immediately after Wednesday night's 1-0 home defeat by Everton. "Shinji has a sickness bug," said Moyes. "We need to see how he is on Saturday but he wasn't too good after the game." With Wayne Rooney suspended, Moyes could do with Kagawa being available as Robin Van Persie has been missing for a fortnight with groin and toe problems. And the United boss refused to say whether the Dutchman could feature against Alan Pardew's men. "You can ask, that doesn't mean I will answer," he said. "Like every club we have a few injuries. Some have a chance and some don't." Everton's first victory at Old Trafford since 1992 has led to a storm of criticism being unleashed on Moyes, who attempted to brush it off as he spoke at the Aon Training Complex. "It's football isn't it?" he said. "It can happen at any club and it has happened ...

Everton captain Phil Jagielka believes his former boss was not adequately supported by the Old Trafford hierarchy during the close-season, and Moyes wants to go in search of new talent again next month. "The club has always thought about strengthening," Moyes told reporters. "You do that every transfer window. We will try and make that happen." United lost 1-0 at home to Everton on Wednesday as they lost further ground on table-toppers Arsenal - the gap now 12 points - and will have to do without the suspended Wayne Rooney for this weekend's visit of Newcastle, while Shinji Kagawa ...
BREAKING NEWS Kagawa in 999 scare: Paramedics rush to his home as United winger suffers breathing problems after Everton defeat An ambulance was called to the home of Manchester United star Shinji Kagawa on Wednesday night when the midfielder complained of breathing difficulties hours after his appearance in the champions' defeat to Everton at Old Trafford. The 24-year-old was substituted 58 minutes into the game, but later began to feel unwell on returning to his apartment in leafy Alderley Edge, Cheshire. It is understood that concerned neighbours were alerted to the Japan international's distress and quickly called for an ambulance. Paramedics rushed to the home of Kagawa.

Manchester United boss David Moyes is planning a swoop for Borussia Dortmund pair Marco Reus and Ilkay Gundogan and is prepared to offer Shinji Kagawa as part of the deal.
Man Utd: Kagawa could be used in deal for German: Manchester United could offer Shinji Kagawa for Marco Reus
Tottenham shook their goal-scoring struggles to twice take the lead, but they could not shake the visitors as a double by Wayne Rooney gave Manchester United a share of the spoils at White Hart Lane by a 2-2 scoreline. Both sides began early working their right offensive flanks. Shinji Kagawa for United and Lennon for Spurs saw the most work in their respective midfields in the first 10 minutes. The game’s first shot didn’t come until the 11th minute, when Lennon popped off a low effort comfortably saved by De Gea. The opener for Spurs didn’t come from open play, but they’ll certainly take it. After a late challenge by Jonny Evans on Paulinho on the edge of the penalty area, Kyle Walker bagged the goal in the 18th minute as he cannoned a low free-kick below the United wall and past De Gea. Just before, Everton goalkeeper and guest NBC commentator Tim Howard had urged De Gea to trust his wall and cover the far end of the goal, but his wall got it wrong as they all jumped above the low blast by Wal ...
Tottenham 0-0 Man United Danny Welbeck has started in a wide left role, with Shinji Kagawa the closest to Wayne Rooney for Manchester United. Chris Smalling is perhaps fortunate not to be booked for a clumsy challenge on Jan Vertonghen as the two makeshift full-backs clash.
The Japanese playmaker forged a fine partnership with Wayne Rooney in the 5-0 win at Bayer Leverkusen, though the return of Robin Van Persie will give the manager a tough decision COMMENT By Tom J Doyle "It's the best we've played in my time here and there's more to come." That was David Moyes 's appraisal of Manchester United's emphatic 5-0 drubbing of Bayer Leverkusen , but those words could just as easily have been reserved for Shinji Kagawa , who served up a timely reminder of his worth to the Scot with a fine display. It is tempting to fixate on Wayne Rooney's four assists or Ryan Giggs' evergreen performance in the middle of the park, but Kagawa's intelligence and ability to open up space for his team-mates was integral to United's ability to retain their shape and ruthlessly exploit Sami Hyppia's side on the counter-attack time after time. He has struggled to make a name for himself so far at Old Trafford, thanks in the main to Rooney and Robin Van Persie's blistering partnership, and recently made ...

Good News: Shinji Kagawa has trained with the team today, hopefully David Moyes plays him in the No.10 position behind Rooney. :-) Rio Ferdinand urges Manchester United to finish of the job in the coming Champions League match.
United 1 Arsenal 0 Robin Van Persie's superb header accounted for Barclays Premier League leaders Arsenal and catapulted Manchester United firmly into the title race on a tense afternoon at Old Trafford. In a game of few chances, the Dutchman's first-half header from a Wayne Rooney corner made the tangible difference between champions and pace-setters, but the foundations for success were built on a magnificently dogged defensive display from David Moyes' men. The United manager opted to field Phil Jones in a withdrawn central midfield role alongside Michael Carrick, safeguarding against the Gunners' advanced midfield threat, and the move almost totally stifled the visitors' creativity in central areas. A forward four of Van Persie, Rooney, Antonio Valencia and Shinji Kagawa, meanwhile, offered United plenty of attacking menace. A cagey opening to the game yielded plenty of possession for United, but the clear mutual respect shared by the sides meant a dearth of chances. When United forged ahead, it was w ...
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho remains a fan of one-time target Shinji Kagawa, and could be ready to offer one of his main playmakers in return to Manchester United to land the Japanese star. The Blues boss revealed earlier this month in an interview with a Japanese publishing company that he was interested in signing Kagawa from Borussia Dortmund during his time as manager of Real Madrid, though the presence of Mesut Ozil and other creative players at the club meant he did not pursue this option. Kagawa eventually went to United, though he has not managed to establish himself as a regular at the club and is looking to move this January, with his old club Dortmund among those keen to snap him up. However, SportsDirect News can reveal that Mourinho may look to bring him to Chelsea, as he senses an opportunity to sign him again. Although his side are again stocked with similar players, he has not been altogether impressed by the likes of Juan Mata and Eden Hazard so far this season, and could offer one of th ...

Robin Van Persie missed a penalty and Javier Hernandez shot over from point-blank range as Manchester United had to settle for a 0-0 draw away to Real Sociedad. David Moyes' side knew victory in their UEFA Champions League Group A clash in San Sebastian would put them on the brink of qualification for the knock-out phase and eliminate the Spanish strugglers. But they failed to take advantage of the few opportunities they created in an often lacklustre display, with Hernandez somehow blazing over the bar from six yards out with the goal at his mercy after the chance was put on a plate by Shinji Kagawa early in the second half. Moyes sent on Ashley Young and Van Persie in place of Wayne Rooney and Hernandez and in seconds the duo combined for the Holland international to fire against the post from a tight angle after a low cross. And Van Persie then struck the same upright from the penalty spot in the 70th minute after Markel Bergara had been very harshly penalised for bringing down Young, who made the most ...

Wolfsburg would welcome the chance to sign Manchester United's Shinji Kagawa and Chelsea attacker Kevin De Bruyne.
WISE WORDS MANCHESTER -- Three thoughts from Man United's 1-0 win versus Real Sociedad at Old Trafford. Come on, David Moyes. Play like Fergie's boys. "I always took risks. My plan was: Don't panic until the last 15 minutes, keep patient until the last quarter of an hour, then go gung *** " Sir Alex Ferguson's philosophy, as described in his newly published autobiography, is in danger of already becoming a memory to Manchester United. New manager David Moyes' caution is costing him both points and the patience of supporters. The Glaswegian gambler has been swapped for a safety-first Scot. At present, the Moyes masterplan looks to be to hang on grimly. Of course, Moyes is not helped by an under-performing group of players. Wayne Rooney's renaissance rarely lasts a full 90 minutes, while a change of management has not brought Antonio Valencia from his slump. Rooney, without Robin Van Persie to get in his way, had centre stage, yet looked too eager to prove himself. The wrong pass was chosen rather too often ...
Jurgen Klopp said he was in tears when he saw the way Manchester United were wasting the talents of Shinji Kagawa
United must back-up wins: Carrick Michael Carrick has admitted Manchester United must meet the challenge of maintaining their midweek momentum. It has been a repeated failing of David Moyes’ side this term that they have done well in cup competitions, only to fall away the following weekend. The puzzle explains why United find themselves within a win of sealing a place in the Champions League knockout phase after only three matches, yet also staring up at the Premier League from an unaccustomed eighth position, eight points adrift of leaders Arsenal. Once more, the Red Devils feel they are moving forwards following Wednesday night’s 1-0 win over Real Sociedad. But Carrick knows they cannot falter again when they face Stoke at Old Trafford on Saturday. “The frustrating thing is we have had moments in certain games of when you think ‘this is it, we’re on the up’,” said the England midfielder. “Then in the next game for some reason it doesn’t go how you would expect. “That is the challeng ...
Manchester United's David Moyes praises Wayne Rooney and Shinji Kagawa after win over Sociedad
David Moyes believes Shinji Kagawa produced his best performance this season in Manchester United's 1-0 win over Real Sociedad on Wednesday night.
The reasons behind his Manchester United failure Why Shinji Kagawa is yet to replicate his Borussia Dortmund form at Manchester United For all his legendary success, Sir Alex Ferguson’s transfers represent a mixed bag. There were inspired investments like the £12 million import of young and relatively unknown, Portuguese starlet, Ronaldo. There were embarrassing gaffes such as the £7m gamble on young and relatively unknown, Portuguese starlet, Bebe. Alongside these, lies another group of players, who despite their apparent talent failed to fit into United’s system or starting XI. This rare breed earned cult status amongst fans but left little tangible impact on the history books other than their transfer fees. The likes of Diego Forlan could now be joined by Shinji Kagawa. Signed in summer 2012, Kagawa was Sir Alex Ferguson’s solution to a long term lack of creativity in his side. The agile and intelligent Japanese playmaker had been a genuine star for Dortmund in the Bundesliga and was set for a ...
Real Sociedad coach Jagoba Arrasate conceded that his side merited no more than their 1-0 UEFA Champions League defeat to Manchester United. Heading to Old Trafford on the back of consecutive Group A defeats, Sociedad suffered the worst possible start when Wayne Rooney's shot came back off the post and Inigo Martinez put through his own net after just two minutes. The visitors eventually rallied and Antoine Griezmann and Alberto de la Bella both struck the crossbar as United suffered some nervy moments, but had any of the late chances that fell to Rooney, Antonio Valencia, Shinji Kagawa and Ashley Young been converted it would have leant a more accurate slant to the scoreline.
David Moyes saluted Shinji Kagawa for what he deemed the Japan international's best display during his reign as Manchester United beat Real Sociedad 1-0. Kagawa has struggled to get in the United team this season and made only his fourth start for Moyes, initially on the left wing before spending the final few minutes operating in a central role just behind Wayne Rooney. " Jolly: Old stagers lead the way And the United manager was delighted with the 24-year-old's work rate and defensive efforts as the Premier League champions recorded their second win in Europe this season. Moyes said: "I thought he was really good, his effort when we didn't have the ball was fantastic. Everyone tells me about Shinjis ability and what hes got, but tonight was the first time I have really seen Shinji. I thought he played really well. "When we put him in the No. 10 role, I thought he was very good off Wayne and off the left, he plays off the left for Japan, but I thought off the ball he was terrific [with] his attitude and ...

Owen: Moyes will get it right Michael Owen insists David Moyes will come through the rocky start to his Manchester United career and prove to be the right choice to replace Sir Alex Ferguson. United have suffered three defeats in their opening six Barclays Premier League games to leave Moyes reeling. Some fans have been critical of his team selection, in particular his use of Shinji Kagawa and decision not to give new boy Wilfried Zaha any time on the pitch. Others acknowledge the squad Moyes inherited is nowhere near as strong as last season’s 11-point title win indicated, a fact the Scot himself has seemed to endorse over the weekend. In addition, Eric Steele has claimed Moyes went against the advice of Ferguson by dispensing with the services of the former goalkeeping coach and senior coaches Rene Meulensteen and Mike Phelan in the summer, denying United the continuity that could be invaluable at the present time. It has created a pretty unhappy backdrop ahead of Wednesday night’s Champions League ...
Monday Moan: Players share Moyes blame Manchester United: Beaten again at the weekend £10 completely free bet Mark Holmes says Manchester United's players must take a share of the blame for their poor start, but questions David Moyes' defensive demands. Moyes' defensive demands not helping One of the main questions asked of David Moyes' ability to manage Manchester United was whether his approach was attacking enough to meet the club's long-standing values. As it happens, there have been as many defensive problems as there have been offensive ones (albeit United have not scored from open play in the Premier League since the Opening Day) during the early part of Moyes' reign, but his use (or rather lack of) of Shinji Kagawa goes some way to explaining what the Scot expects of his players. Sir Alex Ferguson also did not use Kagawa a great deal, of course, but he always found a way to allow his most creative players plenty of freedom to play on instinct. It is a common privilege for top players at top clubs ...

David Moyes defends use of Shinji Kagawa in Premier League David Moyes says the main reason why some players have only had limited roles so far this season is that their international commitments have made it difficult. Japanese midfielder Shinji Kagawa has been restricted to a seven-minute substitute appearance for Manchester United and admitted earlier this week that he was frustrated at being left on the sidelines, saying: "Please ask David Moyes why I'm not in the side." "There are quite a lot of players who have not featured yet," he said. "But if you look at it most of them were late back from international duty after the Confederations Cup, then they were away for a friendly international and a long-haul flight, then they were away again for another international. "If you look at the reasons why people haven't played, it is more to do with them not being available for that to happen

So apparently Manchester United are lining up another bid for Baines. time for my rant. Michael Carrick was without at least our second best player last season. At the Manchester United awards ceremony late last year, Carrick won the players' Player Of The Year award. Shinji Kagawa is just beginning to find his Dortmund form and has shown that next season he will be one of our best players, as every week he learns more and more about English Football and continues to adjust his game to it. Wayne Rooney, late last season, took over a deeper midfield role and has shown he can play there just as well as he plays as a striker, as shown by his beautiful assist to Robin Van Persie's Aston Villa volley that was voted goal of the season last year. Rafael was our most improved player last season. He showed that he is one of, if not the best RB in the EPL and that he is the future of the Brazilian defence line. Phil Jones has shown us that he can play anywhere in the pitch whether it be a fullback, centreback, or i ...

MANUTD UPDATE... Friday July 5 2013 is the date hundreds of sports journalists and millions of football fans have been anticipating for several weeks, the first time David Moyes will face the press officially as Manchester United manager. The Scotsman has had a busy week, appointing his new coaching staff, which includes former Red utility man Phil Neville, and 39-year-old Ryan Giggs as player coach. Moyes has also been busy attempting to get on top of the Wayne Rooney situation, with the England striker so far giving little away publicly on his future. All will 'hopefully' become a little clearer when the usually very straight talking Moyes gets to have his say, giving supporters an inside line of information as to what is going on, rather than them having to rely on whispers from the tabloids. The Press Conference has taken on extra significance too, because of the club's transfer dealings. United are usually busy movers in the month of early in the window, which last year saw them land Shinji Kagawa in ...

Brazil 1-0 Japan - Improved play from Japan though as Manchester United man Shinji Kagawa beats two men with a delightful shimmy of footwork in the centre circle, he has the pace to run away from a defender as well before finding Shinji Okazaki on the right with Keisuke Honda only volley over the top at the back stick. Japan are struggling to keep the ball high up the park so far and are unable to build any pressure as a result.
Whom should Manchester United buy? Manchester United won their 20th league title, primarily by outscoring their opponents. However, it is becoming clear, that without a squad strengthening, the chances of another title are far lesser than before. Manchester United have always relied on two things: wings, and a high-tempo passing game. As the "positional interchange" of René Meulensteen and Sir Alex Ferguson takes shape at both youth and senior levels, David Moyes must use this to his favour, and try to narrow down the attackers' game. Tom Cleverley is the best exponent of the positional interchange, and high-tempo passing(at Man Utd). Keeping him fit and in form is crucial to the success of the club in the coming seasons. He is by no means a greatly prodigious talent, buy he has worked hard to come to where he is. What Manchester United require, is to channelize the diamond prototype that was worked with, in the beginning of last season. The ideal player for the tip of the diamond would be Shinji Kagawa. ...

Japan booked their spot at the 2014 World Cup finals with a draw against Australia last week but the Asian champions have a score to settle in their final qualifier on Tuesday and have no intention of going easy on Iraq in Doha. Iraq held Japan to a 2-2 draw in the Qatari capital 20 years ago in a game that denied the Japanese a place at the 1994 World Cup and was dubbed the "Agony of Doha" by the country's media. Two decades on, it is Group B basement dwellers Iraq who must beat Japan in Doha to give themselves any realistic chance of qualifying for Brazil next year. Japan are unlikely to show any sympathy, however, particularly with the Confederations Cup on the horizon. "In Japanese football history, this is a place we can't ever forget," Kyodo News quoted Shinji Kagawa as saying. "But we are taking the necessary steps to move on toward the future." 499th appearance for Paul Scholes. All under Manchester United and he replaces goalscorer Shinji Kagawa.
Shinji Kagawa completed a remarkable ascent when Manchester United signed him from Borussia Dortmund in June 2012, just three years after he has been playing in the Japanese second division. The Kobe-born playmaker's rise to the top began at just five years old with Marino Football Club before he took in junior spells at Kobe NK FC and FC Miyagi Barcelona, the latter of which acts as a feeder club for local professional side Cerezo Osaka. He signed terms with Cerezo aged just 17 and broke through into the first team in 2007, playing 35 matches in Japan's second tier. In 2009, he was top scorer in the division with 27 goals in 44 games and his performances attracted the attention of European clubs, with Dortmund eventually snapping him up for €350,000 in August 2010, halfway through Cerezo's first season back in the J-League. His international debut came in 2008, when he was also selected to play for Japan at the Olympics, though he missed out on selection for the 2010 World Cup. Kagawa did, though, go o ...

Second-half goals from Eden Hazard and Ramires ensured that Chelsea remains in the FA Cup as a comeback equaled first-half Manchester United goals from Wayne Rooney and Chicharito. The first half was dominated by the Red Devils as Chelsea endured a torrid first 10 minutes, with Chicharito opening the scoring with a header, before Rooney extended the lead with a fortuitous free kick. It was truly a tale of two halves though as Chelsea controlled the second period, eventually getting its just rewards with a stunning effort from Eden Hazard and a smart finish from Ramires The Blues were unable to complete the comeback despite some late pressure. Sir Alex Ferguson chose to retain the bulk of the side that fell to a disappointing Champions League exit on Tuesday, though he made four changes as Jonny Evans, Shinji Kagawa, Wayne Rooney and Chicharito came in, at the expense of Nemanja Vidic, Danny Welbeck, Ryan Giggs and Robin Van Persie. Rafa Benitez, meanwhile, made wholesale changes as only Petr Cech, David L ...
Manchester United and Chelsea will replay their FA Cup quarter-final after the Reds squandered a two-goal lead in the sides' meeting at Old Trafford. Goals from Javier Hernandez and Wayne Rooney had a dominant home side two ahead inside 11 minutes, but a second half fightback from the visitors spawned goals from Eden Hazard and Ramires to ensure the sides must meet again at Stamford Bridge. Sir Alex Ferguson's side looked to have buried the tie by the interval, but were punished for a lacklustre second half display as Chelsea deservedly fought their way back into the tie and would have won, but for a stunning last-minute save from David De Gea to deny Juan Mata. Sir Alex Ferguson made just four changes to the side which had exited the Champions League against Real Madrid, with Wayne Rooney, Chicharito, Shinji Kagawa and Jonny Evans returning to the Reds' starting XI. While the pre-match atmosphere at Old Trafford failed to replicate the unyielding din which had soundtracked last Tuesday's tie, it wasn't l ...

The 27-year-old will play behind Chicharito, who has scored in five of his last six appearances against Chelsea. Shinji Kagawa, hat-trick hero against Norwich last Saturday, also returns to the side .mashud.
Mar 8, 2013 Sir Alex Ferguson insists Wayne Rooney is staying at Manchester United. Ferguson left Rooney out of the United line-up for Tuesday's Champions League defeat by Real Madrid, since when it has been suggested the Red Devils boss would be willing to accept an offer for the striker this summer. However, speaking on Friday morning ahead of Sunday's FA Cup quarter-final with Chelsea at Old Trafford, Ferguson denied that was the case. "He will be here next year, you have my word on that," he said. "There is no issue between myself and Wayne Rooney. To suggest we don't talk is nonsense. "He understood the reasons completely. Tactically we got it right. We don't always but we did then. "There are no issues with the player and he will be involved on Sunday. "I left out Shinji Kagawa after he scored a hat-trick. I thought I would get more stick for that." Ferguson is still bitter about the circumstances of Tuesday's defeat, in particular the dismissal of Nani, on which the entire contest turned. "It is ha ...
It also looks like Nani has been included with Shinji Kagawa left out. If correct, that is a ballsy selection from Sir Alex Ferguson. Nothing official yet. 1840: Intriguing, Very intriguing. A cadre of Japanese journalists are domiciled in Manchester where their professional lives revolve around Shinji Kagawa. On Saturday they went into overdrive. It was back in May 2009 when Kagawa, then playing for Cerezo Osaka against Mito HollyHock, last celebrated a hat-trick but, nearly four years on, his repetition of that feat in a Manchester United shirt carried far greater significance. In becoming the first Asian player to score three goals in a Premier League game the midfielder made the most eloquent of cases for inclusion in Sir Alex Ferguson's starting line-up for Tuesday night's Champions League tie against Real Madrid at Old Trafford. Michael Carrick has warned that United must "play a complete game", against consummate counterattacking opponents and last summer's £12m import from Borussia Dortmund hopes to help them do so. "My hat-trick will be huge news in Japan," acknowledged Kagawa. "But they are really looking forward to the Real Madrid game; that's what I'm aiming for as well." With Ph ...
Cristiano Ronaldo is willing to take a massive pay cut to sensationally rejoin Manchester United. Mega-rich Paris Saint-Germain are ready with a package worth £130million to tempt him to France. But Ronaldo has made his advisors aware he would sacrifice the huge pay-day to move back to Old Trafford for HALF the amount. Alex Ferguson is still cautious about banking on Real Madrid’s Portuguese star returning to the club where he made his name. But the United boss, who sold Ronaldo for £80m in 2009, has met him a couple of times this season and has made no secret about how impressed he is. Fergie said: “Cristiano is mature now. He’s 28 and he’s at the peak of his career. “With the fitness he’s got — he never misses a game and he’s never injured — you expect him to play at his peak until 32 or 33 easily.” Fergie believes Ronaldo will receive a warm welcome from the Old Trafford faithful at Tuesday’s Champions League tie against the Spanish giants — before the game at least. He insist ...
