QPR manager Harry Redknapp: “I’d like to see Liverpool win League; Chelsea and Manchester City have won it; and last week was the most emotional in a long while there, and with the anniversary of Hillsborough, it would be fitting.”
Here's a question for debate. Is it money that makes a manager successful or is it all down to good management? I'm just asking this question because for years David Moyes whilst at Everton used the ''Pauper card''. However he's not exactly pulled up any trees having spent 64 million net this season. That's second to Manchester City on 85 million. That's 46 million more than Brendan Rodgers spent net at Liverpool. 18 million net. The realty is, Rafa Benitez at Valencia and Jose Mourinho at Porto, spent a fraction what Moyes did at Everton and were successful. In fact, Rafa Benitez at Chelsea won the Europa League having spent a mere 7 million in his 8 months. Moyes had 11 years at Everton, you would think he would have won the Carling Cup at least once if he was as good a manager as he thinks he is. Steve McClaren, Mark Hughes and Alex Mcleish who are poor managers managed that. Even the tactically inept Harry Redknapp won the FA Cup. All in all, it's good management that makes managers successful. That's ...

17/02/2014 By David McIntyre Out-of-favour QPR winger Shaun Wright-Phillips has snubbed a possible move to Charlton. The Former England international has not started a match since September and will be pushed further down the pecking order at Loftus Road by the loan signing of Ravel Morrison from West Ham. Charlton expressed an interest in a loan deal but Wright-Phillips, 32, indicated that he was not keen on the move. His brother Bradley had a two-and-a-half-year spell with the Addicks, who face Rangers at The Valley on Saturday. Shaun Wright-Phillips moved to West London from Manchester City in August 2011. He signed a three-year contract which expires this summer. QPR manager Harry Redknapp last month told West London Sport he doubted Wright-Phillips would leave on loan.
West Ham could allow midfielder Ravel Morrison to join Championship side QPR on loan, Press Association Sport understands. Although the Transfer Window for Premier League clubs is now closed, temporary deals can still be done in the lower divisions. He’s a player that I really want to bring in on a free. We are pushing for that one.” -Zeeshan
It’s going to be a very interesting summer for QPR as Harry Redknapp looks to rebuild his squad. Rangers fan Dean Spencer suggests some possible targets. Wayne Bridge - left-back - 32 (Manchester City) Former England International Bridge has just ended his successful year-long loan at Brighton from Manchester City. Now people may think that this is just another player coming to the end of his career only after one last pay cheque. However, Bridge has proved that at Championship level there isn’t a better left-back, with him being named in the team of the season. Adam Smith - right-back - 22 (Tottenham) Signing a right-back would be my priority this summer so we don’t have to see Jose Bosingwa in a QPR shirt again. This is a player that I feel would be a perfect fit for QPR. The former Spurs trainee and England U21 international is a ball playing full-back who also has shown a lot of promise this season in the Championship on loan at Millwall. We need players with something to prove and the ability t ...

QPR 0-2 Manchester United: Van Persie blow sourscomfortable victory for runaway leaders Goals from Rafael & Ryan Giggs establish 15-point advantage at thetop of the table ahead of Manchester City'sclash against Chelsea on Sunday. The full-back slammed a stunning half-volley into the top corner from 25 yards to put United ahead in the 23rd minute on a cagey afternoon in West London. Ryan Giggs sealed the points for the league leaders 10 minutes from time as he beat QPR’s offside trap to sweep the ball home. The only concern for United will be the apparent back injury that forced top scorer Robin Van Persie off five minutes before half-time after a collision on the touchline. QPR manager Harry Redknapp recalled much-criticised defender Jose Bosingwa for the first time since December 9with Fabio ineligible against his paren ...
Sir Alex Ferguson insists he will take the trip to QPR just as seriously as the Champions League ties with Real Madrid. The manager locks horns with old adversary Harry Redknapp again at Loftus Road with the West Londoners battling to avoid relegation. United can stretch the lead at the Barclays Premier League to 15 points with Manchester City not in action until Sunday and the challenge is there for the Reds to maintain the title push and erase the memories of last season's final-day agony. "With Harry's experience and his ability to judge players, he will have a better chance that most in that situation [battling to avoid relegation]," Sir Alex stated at his pre-match press conference. "We're going down there to win, though. That's what our job is. There is an absolutely brilliant spirit in the place at the moment and a good determination about us. We have to treat these games as we would Real Madrid or anyone else. It has to be won. We want to win. "We have a problem picking teams at the moment but tha ...
Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp remains optimistic that his struggling side could pick up a surprise result against Premier League leaders Manchester United this weekend. - Blog: Queens Park Rangers blog QPR face United at Loftus Road on Saturday with the club bottom of the table and seven points adrift of safety following their 4-1 loss against Swansea City. Redknapp, though, is hopeful of securing a positive result, with the Englishman highlighting January's unlikely win at Chelsea and also the draws achieved versus Tottenham and Manchester City. "You can't predict results," Redknapp told the Fulham Chronicle. "We're playing Chelsea away on the back of being smashed to pieces by Liverpool. What's the score going to be you might ask? 3-0, and 4-0 to them? I was surprised as you were. "We then play Tottenham at home who've beaten everybody away and have scored in all away games - and they don't score against us. "Against Man City who are champions, we get another great point and then another at ...

Harry Redknapp must decide which of his new faces his thrusts into first-team action as he prepares to tackle Norwich at Loftus Road. Former captain Ryan Nelsen made his farewell appearance in the 0-0 draw with Manchester City in midweek, but the void he leaves in defence will be filled by the considerable presence of club-record signing Christopher Samba. Yun Suk-young could come into contention, while Jermaine Jenas and Andros Townsend add to Redknapp's midfield options following the deadline day departure of Alejandro Faurlin to Palermo on loan. Norwich boss Chris Hughton must decide whether to hand new signing Luciano Becchio a start against QPR or stick with the players on duty against Tottenham. The Canaries claimed only their second point from the last 21 available in the 1-1 draw with Spurs in midweek in a much-improved display when only Gareth Bale's superb late leveller denied them victory. Hughton's only other piece of January business was to bring in Sierra Leone forward Kei Kamara on loan fro ...

LONDON: Manchester City started what seems certain to be life without Mario Balotelli with a frustrating goalless draw at Premier League bottom club Queens Park Rangers on Tuesday.   Balotelli was missing as he concluded the details of his move to AC Milan after City had accepted the Italian club's reported £19 million offer for the striker earlier in the day.   And without the controversial forward, Roberto Mancini's champions missed out on the chance to close the gap on leaders Manchester United to two points.   But the draw left QPR within four points of safety.Balotelli's departure this month has been predicted for some time and the Italy international has been out of favour with Mancini, scoring just one league goal this season.   But the 22-year-old's unpredictable talents might just have made the difference in a stalemate at Loftus Road that will give West London club QPR hope they can avoid relegation. Harry Redknapp's side remain unbeaten in the league since the turn of the year -- although ...

Harry Redknapp looks set to solve some of his central defensive issues, as Queens Park Rangers chase a deal for Porto defender Rolando. With Ryan Nelsen now set to depart for Toronto FC after Tuesday's match against Manchester City and the club already lacking in that area, Redknapp has been working hard to bring in the right centre-half since arriving at the club. Rolando, 27, has won 18 caps for Portugal and has attracted interest from a number of Serie A clubs. He has also told Porto that he wants to leave. As such, it is understood that the Superliga club's financial director met QPR representatives on Wednesday night to discuss terms. Rolando himself, however, is still unsure of whether he wants a move to England or Italy. Redknapp still has around £12 million to spend in this window and retains an interest in Blackburn Rovers' Martin Olsson, despite seeing a bid for the defender rejected earlier this month, as well as the Swede's team-mate, Scott Dann. QPR have also been weighing up whether to take ...
Redknapp hopes his triple threat of Taarabt, Remy and Zamora will fire QPR to safety Harry Redknapp believes Loic Remy, Adel Taarabt and Bobby Zamora, returning from injury, can provide a triple attacking threat to fire QPR to Premier League survival. Remy, the £8million signing from Marseille, scored with his only real opportunity against West Ham and showed instant understanding with Taarabt, but Redknapp knows Rangers need a physical presence up front to hold the ball and sees 32-year-old Zamora as the perfect foil for the Frenchman. Zamora has been out since damaging his hip in mid-November but could be back for the FA Cup tie against MK Dons on Saturday and then the match at home to Manchester City a week Tuesday.Triple threat: QPR boss Harry Redknapp (right) believes Adel Taarabt (left), new boy Loic Remy and Bobby Zamora, who will soon return from injury, will fire his team to safety in the Premier League ‘Remy’s movement is good, he’s quick and he’ll score goals for us I’m sure,’ Redk ...

Redknapp: Mancini could lose respect 6 January 2013 Roberto Mancini's training ground bust-up with Mario Balotelli could lose him respect at Manchester City, QPR boss Harry Redknapp warned. Roberto Mancini has 'no regrets' over Mario Balotelli confrontation but wants to sell Manchester City striker Roberto Mancini has insisted he does not regret the training-ground confrontation with Mario Balotelli which has left the Manchester City Manager prepared to sanction the forward’s sale during the Transfer Window. Despite publicly insisting on Friday that he was prepared to give the 22 year-old “100 more chances” and that he would fight to keep Balotelli at Manchester City, it is understood that Mancini has made it clear to the club that he will not object to him being sold this month. AC Milan, who could now fund a bid for the Italy striker after completing the £12 million sale of Alexandre Pato to Corinthians, remain the likeliest destination for Balotelli, but the player’s £170,000-a-week wages will be an obstacle to any deal being done quickly. Yet despite the negativity generated by images of Mancini grappling with Balotelli on the training pitch, the City Manager insisted he did no ...
HARRY REDKNAPP slammed Mario Balotelli AND Roberto Mancini over their training ground tear-up. QPR boss Redknapp reckons Manchester City striker Balo “crossed the line” and showed a lack of respect by grappling with his manager. But he also says Mancini should have handled the situation better and not allowed himself to get involved in the bust-up with one of his players. Redknapp, 65, said: “He’s a top manager but you can’t get like that with players now. You can’t be doing all that shouting and screaming at them. “It probably used to happen years and years ago, managers would be throwing cups and all that. But those days are long gone, you don’t get any anywhere behaving like that towards players now. You lose their respect.” SunSport revealed yesterday how Mancini lost his rag when Balotelli tackled team-mate Scott Sinclair during training. Redknapp added: “Do I think that Balotelli crossed the line? Yes. The boy’s a pretty good player but his attitude is obviously very difficult. ...

Premier League Round Up 8-9 December 1. It’s well known that Manchester City have money to throw around, but coppers aimed at Rio Ferdinand’s eye is taking things a bit too far. Bound to fall foul of the Financial Fair Play regulations. 2. Fernando Torres is scoring goals and smiling. That makes at least one person at Stamford Bridge who’s delighted by Rafa Benitez’s arrivals. 3. Robin Van Persie has probably now repaid his transfer fee. Fergie banked on him being the difference between United and City this season, and that could scarcely have been better illustrated than by yesterday’s winner. 4. West Ham came unstuck against Liverpool thanks to the success of their academy. Goals from former first-team players Glen Johnson and Joe Cole, and ex-trainee Jonjo Shelvey, saw the Hammers defeated. Restrained celebrations were the order of the day. 5. Not so at Goodison Park. Steven Pienaar showed that if you’re scoring against a former club for the team you left to join them (and subsequently rejo ...
We may be a minus a match this week due to Chelsea's participation in the Club World Cup in Japan, but that doesn't mean there is a shortage of quality in the Barclays Premier League. Southampton were due to play the Blues so they are also not in action. The weekend kicks off with Newcastle against Manchester City at St James Park as the Magpies seek for a home win over the defending champions, looking to bounce back from derby defeat. Elsewhere today, Liverpool host struggling Aston Villa, Manchester United are looking to make further ground at the top of the table when goal-shy Sunderland make the trip to Old Trafford, in-form Norwich- seeking a response from their midweek Capital One Cup quarter-final defeat, take on Wigan at Carrow Road, Queens Park Rangers look for their first win of the campaign and under Harry Redknapp against a resurgent Fulham while a defensively-solid Stoke side put their fantastic home form on the line when hosting Everton in a chilly Staffordshire.
Alan Pardew: We've got to go and attack Man City by Lee Ryder, Evening Chronicle Alan Pardew will make his feelings crystal clear to his players this week as he looks to address Newcastle United's alarming form. The Toon boss has demanded a response from his troops after a worrying run of just one win from the last 10 games. And although the next two fixtures are against wounded Premier League champions Manchester City - still reeling from their last-gasp 3-2 derby loss against Man United - and then recovering Queens Park Rangers, who have been boosted by the appointment of Harry Redknapp, Pardew is still bravely targeting six points from the next two games. Pardew will have home advantage on his side as well as influential playmaker Hatem Ben Arfa fully fit after he emerged unscathed from the 2-1 loss at Fulham. But while Pardew has laid off his players during the poor run of form this season, he was quite rightly feeling let down by the sloppy defending which led to Hugo Rodagella's winner at Craven Cot ...
Harry Redknapp: "THERE’S a lot of talk of Manchester City’s two-year unbeaten home record. Lots of suggestion that Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson will be *** bent on wrecking it in today’s derby. I don’t think he gives a stuff about the record. Fergie will just be so desperate to win. He won’t care whether City have not lost at home for the past one, five or ten seasons. What’s eating him up is that Manchester City won the Premier League last season — and he won nothing. That’s the record burning inside Fergie. Watching City lift the title after his team caved in at the end of the season is his driving force for today’s meeting. But while we are on about records, here’s one to throw at Manchester City. Roberto Mancini will NEVER be the manager Alex Ferguson is. He’ll never get the chance to win as many cups because he will not be given the time to build an empire like Ferguson has at Old Trafford. A treble of Premier League, European Cup and FA Cup in 1999. Now that’s a r ...

Paddy’s EPL Football Preview There have been some very interesting things to happen to the league since my last edition. For one, West Brom – of all teams! – is in third place. This is the Baggies best record in the top division since 1953. In addition to being ahead of Spurs, Chelsea and The Gunners, the Baggies have only lost to Newcastle, a then-dominating Fulham, and Manchester City. There have also been some managerial changes near the top and at rock bottom. It seems as though Harry Redknapp has gotten bored sitting in his living room playing Football Manager as the England manager and decided to manage a real team that could work too. Also my man-love Roberto (champion) Di Matteo got the sack from that extremely wealthy bearded Russian man. Roberto Di Matteo was sacked less the 25 games after winning the Champions League and the FA Cup within two weeks of each other. MANCHESTER, England (AP) Manchester United fought back to beat Queens Park Rangers 3-1 on Saturday, provisionally reclaiming top spot while condemning the bottom-placed team to the worst start any Premier League side has made after 13 games. New QPR manager Harry Redknapp was watching from the stands at Old Trafford as Jamie Mackie gave the London club hope of a first win of the season by scoring the opener. But United responded with three goals in less than 10 minutes, leaving QPR roote to the bottom with just four points. Jonny Evans pulled the hosts level before Darren Fletcher marked his first league start in a year with a goal and Javier Hernandez scored a third. United went two points ahead of Manchester City, which is at Chelsea on Sunday. Initially, QPR had a sense of purpose and stuck to its defensive duties with diligence, even though the visitors were assisted by the lackluster nature of United's display. Stand-in manager Mark Bowen might even have had a goal to celebrate after Mackie converted ...
Harry Redknapp watched from the stands as Manchester United came from behind to beat his new Queens Park Rangers side at Old Trafford. QPR, who announced Redknapp as their new boss on Saturday morning, led when Jamie Mackie pounced from close range. Headers from Jonny Evans and Darren Fletcher, on his first league start for over a year, put United in command. Substitute Javier Hernandez stroked in the third as Sir Alex Ferguson's men moved top of the Premier League table. United's three goals in the space of eight second-half minutes puts the pressure firmly back on neighbours Manchester City, who know they can return to the summit by beating Chelsea on Sunday. QPR, who sacked Redknapp's predecessor Mark Hughes on Friday, stay bottom of the table as they remain without a victory in their opening 13 matches. But there will be plenty of positives for Redknapp to take from the match before he assumes control on Monday. Under the guidance of Hughes's former coaches Mark Bowen and Eddie Niedzwiecki, the hard-w ...

Ex-Tottenham boss Redknapp: Arsenal won't survive Van Persie sale Former Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp believes Arsenal will struggle this season. Redknapp rates Manchester City favourites for the title ahead of Manchester United. Redknapp, who was recently appointed a Sky Sports Fantasy Football ambassador, said: "I suppose City will be favourites and then Man Utd, Chelsea and Tottenham again. "Arsenal will be in for a tough season this year if they lose Van Persie, I think they’ve got it all to do and Tottenham could finish above them this year. "[Sir Alex Ferguson] will want to win a trophy this year and they’ll push Man City all the way. "I think Liverpool will do better. People say there’s a long rebuilding process going on at the club, but they’ll be there. They’ve got fantastic players in my opinion – [Luis] Suarez, [Andy] Carroll, [Steven] Gerrard, [Jamie] Carragher, Glen Johnson, a great goalkeeper in Pepe Reina and some good central defenders. They should be pushing for the top four. ...

Man Utd discuss sensational double raid on Spurs for Modric, Bale Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is weighing up a sensational double raid on Tottenham for Luka Modric and Gareth Bale. The Manchester Evening News says Harry Redknapp's departure has cast doubt on Bale sticking around at White Hart Lane after another season out of the Champions League. Barcelona and Real Madrid are both admirers of Bale, while Ferguson and Manchester City's Roberto Mancini would also be expected to enter the bidding if given the slightest indication that he wants out. United are in the market for top class attacking options having tried and failed to land Eden Hazard. Bale was not expected to figure prominently in United's transfer business this summer, but they could be prompted into action if he looks set to move on. Of more immediate interest to Ferguson is the future of Modric – a player he has tracked for the past 12 months. He baulked at Spurs’ £32m valuation of the playmaker – currently on internation ...

Manchester City and Chelsea are facing competition from Juve for the signing of Napoli striker Edinson Cavani. Spurs supporters are complete knobs. Harry Redknapp took the scum from 2nd bottom, to two top 4 finishes and 5th and got them in the Champions League for the 1st time in their history. The fact that their fans are happy to see him go is a complete disgrace. Yes Harry shouldn't have encouraged the whole England job situation. However you could easily blame the FA and the media for creating that whole circus. To conclude Tottenham are not better then Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea or Arsenal. The fact you finish 4th, with a tight fisted chairman is a huge achievement. The greed of fans expectations in football was demonstrated in Harry's sacking last night. The only people that will be happy are Arsenal fans, when they crash and burn next season. FOYS. David Moyes is a good manager but will he do any better, highly unlikely.
Harry Redknapp's reign at Tottenham is over after the club announced his three-and-a-half-year tenure at White Hart Lane has come to an end. Everton's David Moyes and Roberto Martinez of Wigan are strong contenders to take over.
Less than a week after Chelsea’s famous win against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena, thoughts have already begun to turn towards next year’s competition. With Europe’s major domestic leagues already over, teams already know their fate when it comes to the premier club competition on the continent next season. As holders, Chelsea secured their automatic qualification into the group stages, knocking Tottenham Hotspur out of the qualifying play-off round in the process. Their fourth-place finish in the Premier League counts for the Europa League, and that’s scant consolation for manager Harry Redknapp. Manchester City, Manchester United and Arsenal all qualified automatically thanks to the Premier League’s high co-efficiency ranking (CHECK), meaning four teams from England will be competing in the last 32. Spain will enjoy the same luxury, providing Malaga can win their play-off match in August. The big-spenders in La Liga would join Real Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia on the big stage. In Germa ...

LONDON, May 13, 2012 (AFP) - Manchester City will be bidding to be crowned champions of England for the first time in 44 years when they face relegation-threatened Queens Park Rangers at Eastlands later Sunday. But with second-placed champions Manchester United behind on goal difference alone, Roberto Mancini's expensively-assembled City side will be aware any slip-ups could see Sir Alex Ferguson's men, away to Sunderland, pip them at the post. Meanwhile, places in the lucrative Champions League remain up for grabs, even if the Manchester duo have already snaffled the top two Premier League spots. Arsenal will guarantee themselves automatic qualification for the group phase if they win at West Brom, while Newcastle, away to Everton, will hope Tottenham stumble at home to Fulham as they seek to leapfrog Harry Redknapp's side into fourth place. But fourth spot, while usually securing a place in the preliminary round, won't be good enough for Champions League football next term if Chelsea beat Bayern Munich ...
