Stoke City registered their first Premier League victory in Manchester as Mame Biram Diouf's fine solo effort stunned the champions. Man City 0-1 Stoke Diouf 58′ The Senegal international and former United striker raced 70 yards before slotting under Joe Hart. The hosts could have had a late penalty but Yaya Toure was booked for diving. Stoke had lost all 12 previous league matches at the Etihad Stadium and Old Trafford and manager Mark Hughes will savour this victory at his former club. The odds were stacked against the visitors who had not even scored at Manchester City in the Premier League By contrast, Manuel Pellegrini's men had failed to hit the net in just one of their last 70 home matches and the Chilean started with Sergio Aguero, who had taken just 23 seconds to score off the bench against Liverpool, up front. The Potters had failed to keep a clean sheet in their last 12 league matches but a resolute performance from Hughes's side saw them do just that and Diouf's second-half strike capped a . ...

From our local columnist : THE PATH TO GLORY – PART I The air surrounding the upcoming Barclays Premier League isn’t the coolest of air to breathe, especially when one visualizes the strengths of the teams at the friendlies. It’s very rare here in Cameroon seeing a fan not supporting the Premiership trophy for his team (even if you know it is impossible for AFC Wimbledon, it is the Barclays, we all know anything can happen), but a common voice roving all around “Arsenal, Chelsea, Man City, Man Utd, Liverpool”. Who will it be? Who has that jet fuel to propel an almost invincible victory at such a peak period in the history of football? My views expressed here are not based on the fact that I have blue blood running in my arteries, but from consistent study and evaluation, examining all positives and odds. If you ask me even on the last day of the League with Chelsea at the bottom, I’ll still say, “The Blues gotta win it”. Why? The very imagination surrounding players, fans, members of the p ...

End of an error; Here comes Van Gaal. Old Trafford; the Theatre of dreams. Since time immemorial, it has been a fortress. It commanded fear, respect, or even both. Opponents never left unwounded. They used to be goliaths; then David (Moyes) came. The 2013/2014 season was a disaster, right from the friendlies to the Champions League. Out of 7 pre-season friendlies, United won only 3, against mediocre opponents. Moyes was never tactically fit. The way United would play Sunderland is the same way they would play Man City: no changing tactics. Winning a game at Old Trafford was so hard, even United couldn’t. Furthermore, Moyes’ training methods were a joke. Players always missed games due to injuries in training. Anyway, at least he brought out the best from Adnan Januzaj, an exciting young prospect. Now Louis Van Gaal has come. This man is a football genius. He always gets his tactics right. He has coaching swagger. His touchline antics are what United really need. As far as the 5 high-profile pre-season ...

TRANSFER TALK # BPL A day ago, Bacary Sagna was thought to be a shoo-in to move to Manchester City. But the deal won't be completed anytime soon if Manchester United have anything to say about it. Multiple newspapers are now reporting that the Red Devils are interested in bringing the French defender to Old Trafford. United could bring Sagna in to compete against Rafael, but the 31-year-old right-back isn't convinced he will leave Arsenal, saying, "I don't know. ... I've been talking with the club for a long time and we'll try to find a solution." City moves Speaking of the Premier League champions, a few other bits to note. Meanwhile, The Sun says James Milner is also set for a new deal, but The Mirror disagrees, saying the 28-year-old midfield ...

At the end of 2011/2012 season we played Sunderland and beat them and we thought we had won the league but that Aguero Moment came and Sunderland fans despite them having half of the players on the pitch being former United players and most of our United loanee playing for them, they did a POZNAN (Man City) celebration in mockery to us as Man United. Someone should warn Sunderland as we welcome them to Old Trafford on Saturday that we have not forgotten. Its their battle of relegation.

LONDON EVENING STANDARD Arsene Wenger believes Arsenal have never benefited from the same help that Chelsea have received from the Premier League and television companies in their bid to win the Champions League. At this stage of the season some players are already dreaming of their summer holidays but Andros Townsend is determined to show the football world he is feeling invincible again. MANCHESTER EVENING NEWS A massive new kit deal could soften the blow of United missing out on the Champions League and boost David Moyes' attempts to lure the biggest names to Old Trafford. Former Man City boss Roberto Mancini has hit out at French midfielder Samir Nasri for wasting his talent. LIVERPOOL ECHO Everton have rewarded Tim Howard's fine form this season with a contract extension which will see him remain a Blue until 2018. Man United's new line-up? How the club could look if they land these transfer targets David Moyes is going to be a busy man this summer along with partner in crime Ed Woodward. The Man United manager, and Old Trafford chief executive, are planning on bringing in a number of new faces in an attempt to get the club back into the top four and, eventually, reclaim their place at the top of the Premier League. This is all good news for supporters and if the reported transfer targets join, United will have a pretty terrifying team next season. Reports have claimed that Moyes has been in Portugal to check on Porto stopper and Man City target Eliaquim Mangala, but, as well as competition with City for the French ace, Napoli boss Rafa Benitez will rival him for Benfica centre-back Ezequiel Garay. Nemanja Vidic is leaving in the summer and Rio Ferdinand is expected to follow him out of the exit door, so new defenders are a requirement. Southampton and England left-back Luke Shaw has been heavily linked with a move, ...

Mourinho rounds on Man United fans over Sir Alex Ferguson Jose Mourinho has rallied to support his old adversary Sir Alex Ferguson, following the bitter reaction the ex Man United boss faced from some fans in midweek. Ferguson was subjected to taunts from the stands during the derby against Man City at Old Trafford – a game United lost 3-0 - for having chosen David Moyes as his successor. Moyes is rapidly falling out of favour after a disastrous start to his tenure. The Chelsea boss says Ferguson does not deserve such a reaction. “He had the career,” Mourinho said. “He made Man United. He decided to retire. "When somebody retires, especially a person like him, he deserves to retire and enjoy his life and now he’s responsible for what? “Man United lose and it’s his responsibility? Man United struggling is his problem? Rooney misses a goal and it’s his fault? “I think he can be blamed for one thing – making Man United the club it is. Let him retire in peace
Man United's pathetic capitulation at home to Man City was just too much for some fans to take. The 'Chosen One' banner came under threat of removal and had to be protected by Old Trafford stewards.
April is a massive month for the red half of Merseyside. With Manchester City AND Chelsea coming to town, Brendan Rodgers side will have a massive say in who wins the Premier League and who finishes second. Chelsea's trip to Anfield on 27th April could become THE pivotal moment in both of our seasons. I firmly believe that Man City are in pole position and the so our focus is now finishing second. Whatever happens for both of our clubs, it has been a monumental season for many reasons. Let's all be honest here, none of us would have had Liverpool finishing inside the top four this season after Arsene Wenger spent £42m on Mesut Ozil on deadline day. There had been plenty of debate about the holes within the framework of Wenger's side but with Ozil coming in, Arsenal were flying. Sitting top of the league, scoring goals and winning games for fun, it seemed that Arsenal were destined for the top four. No one could have imagined what is happening at Old Trafford. You would have had them up there in contentio ...
Man United are preparing the ground for the shock return of Sir Alex Ferguson as they look to replace under-fire boss David Moyes. CaughtOffside understands that Man United’s American owners are ready to bite the bullet and will sack Moyes in the coming weeks with the Scot’s only hope of retaining the position in charge of the club being an unlikely win over all conquering Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-finals. Moyes bought himself some time with Man United’s 3-0 victory over Olympiakos but the result has been seen by many as merely papering over the cracks and the club’s senior players are said to have given up on the Scot and there is a sense within Old Trafford that it’s only a matter of time before the former Everton manager’s time in charge comes to an imminent end. Recent thrashings at the hands of arch rivals Liverpool and Man City may well act as the final nail in David Moyes’s managerial coffin and the Glazers are ready to call time on his brief reign as Man United ma ...
Scholes takes a dig at Arsenal - 26 March 2014, 13:12 Once one of Arsenal's chief tormentors on the pitch, Paul Scholes dissected the Gunners with a withering verbal assault after a home draw with Swansea City on Tuesday ended any hope of a late Premier League title charge. The former Manchester United midfielder was known for letting his boots do the talking during a glittering Old Trafford career but when asked to pick over the pieces of Arsenal's season, he held nothing back. "It was a typical week for Arsenal really," Scholes, who was working for Sky Sports as a pundit, said after the Gunners drew 2-2 with Swansea City, three days after a 6-0 drubbing at the hands of Chelsea in Arsene Wenger's 1 000th game in charge. "They capitulated at Chelsea and it seems to be a similar theme again at the top teams. "It happened at Liverpool. They conceded six against Man City and for one reason or another players seem to go missing... "It seems like they go on the pitch with no discipline. "It's as though four, f ...
Moyes' 'Aspiration' to Be Like Man City Is Music to the Ears of Blues Supporters In the aftermath of Manchester United's 3-0 defeat to rivals Manchester City at Old Trafford on Tuesday, David Moyes said his side must "aspire" to play like their local rivals. He told Sky Sports: I think we've played a very good side and it's the sort of standard and level we need to try and aspire to get ourselves to at this moment in time. I think we need to play better. We're needing to come up a couple of levels at the moment and we're not quite there. It's a comment which has only served to increase the hostility currently being displayed toward Moyes by certain sections of United's support after a season which has seen them lose 10 of their 31 league matches. They currently find themselves seventh—26 points worse off than they were at the same stage last year. It's been a remarkable decline for a side who won the title by 11 points last season under former manager Sir Alex Ferguson. City, meanwhile, have the title . ...

David Moyes: We owe our fans a performance when Man City come to Old Trafford
On Tuesday night when the Red part of Manchester host the Blue part of Manchester at Old Trafford it'd be a lively atmosphere. We're out of the Title race, will we reach top 4 I think not, but if we do manage to beat Man City, that'd be a good thing for Liverpool :/ Now, I'm in two minds- do I want us to win/draw (which will help Liverpool) or lose (so that Liverpool don't get an easy ride towards the title) These are my thoughts, I'm not being disrespectful to anyone. I just don't like Liverpool that's it, neither do I like City but my dislike for Liverpool is greater and will always remain than any other team. -AB
Man Utd as big as 5/2 to win a league match at Old Trafford v Man City. Is this their biggest home price in Premier League history?
Right, not giving up hope yet. However, this is what could happen: HIGHLY UNLIKELY: If we beat Swansea and Man City (Both at The Emirates) and Chelsea lose to Crystal Palace at Selhurst park, we still have a chance. Although we also need Man Utd to beat City at Old Trafford and Liverpool to lose to Spuds and Sunderland at Anfield. LP9

MAN CITY TO BE WITHOUT AGUERO FOR UNITED DERBY CLASH Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini has admitted top scorer Sergio Aguero is out of next week's derby against Manchester United with a hamstring injury. Pellegrini said: "We don't know yet, but maybe next week he will start working with the squad. When asked directly if the Argentinian, who scored the winner at Old Trafford last season, could face United, Pellegrini said: "For United, no, no chance." Pellegrini was also asked about fresh rumours linking Aguero with a move to Barcelona. "It is exactly the same as I respond to all the other links during the whole year. "We cannot talk every week about the players that are coming here to Manchester City and the players that are going out. "He is a player of Manchester City, he is very happy here and the club is very happy with him also."

I want Olympiakos to eliminate us, Westham to beat us away, Man City to thrash us at home, a draw with Aston Villa at Old Trafford, and two defeats away to Newcastle and Everton sothat Moyes gets the SACK. He is inept and his tactics stink. Welcome Jurgen Klopp or Diego simeone or Louise Van Gaal or worse still Roberto Martinez - at least he has won a trophy and plays a passing attacking football - Murray Onyango. I say give moyes one more season to prove (murray is a die hard fan of Man Utd, a friend who really supported wen moyes came in and a football pundit).
Three Arsenal stars make starting XI after North London Derby victory With another exciting weekend of Premier League football over with, BBC pundit Garth Crooks has put together his 'Team of the Week'. Impressive wins for Aston Villa, Liverpool and Arsenal mean that some of their players have taken a role in Crooks' team, and here is his full starting XI. GOALKEEPER - David Marshall (Cardiff) David Marshall's performance at Goodison Park was so impressive it looked like Everton were never going to beat the Scotland international. Everton peppered his goal and Romelu Lukaku, Gerard Deulofeu and Kevin Mirallas all brought brilliant saves out of him in the first half. DEFENDER - Jon Flanagan (Liverpool) This time it was at Old Trafford in Liverpool's 3-0 win over Manchester United and again I saw young Flanagan cope with another big occasion. At no stage in the game did Flanagan look nervous or overawed. United even got Adnan Januzaj to swap wings in order to try to get at the full-back but he got no change ...
Flanagan: United game is what Scouse lads dream about “It would be my first game against United for the first team and I can't wait for it,” Flanagan told the ECHO. “To walk out as part of a Liverpool side at Old Trafford, it doesn't get much bigger than this for a Scouser. “It's a huge game and we all know what it means to the supporters. “We're going there on the back of a great run and it's vitally important we keep it going. We can't afford to take our foot off the gas.” Flanagan knows all about the importance of keeping your cool during derby matches. He learned his lesson last May when he was sent off late on in Liverpool Under-21s' defeat to United at Old Trafford for kicking the ball at Adnan Januzaj. Ten months on, Flanagan's Reds career has been transformed and he has made seven successive starts since returning from a hamstring injury in January. “We were getting beat and I lost my head,” he recalled. “It was silly and I shouldn't have done it. “But I'd like to think I've ch ...

The Turkish international signed a contract extension with the Spanish club earlier this season that saw his release clause increase from £20m to £33m. And while that figure has seen clubs reluctant to pursue a move for the 26-year-old, reports in Turkey suggest that City are ready to activate the clause in the summer. That could see Liverpool, in particular, make a play for the former Galatasaray star before the end of the January window. Manchester United made a play for Turan at the end of the last transfer window, even reportedly agreeing to pay the £20m that would have forced Atletico to let the player leave, only to see complications with paperwork scupper a move. But despite David Moyes saying he is continuing to work on bringing in new faces at Old Trafford, the Red Devils seem unlikely to splash out aga ...
Breaking news. According to the Namibian newspaper for today " A drunk Man United fan called 999 demanding to speak to Sir Alex Ferguson after the club's semi-final defeat to Sunderland. Greater Manchester Police said the man, from Crumpsall, was distraught after the team were knocked out of the Capital One Cup by Sunderland. Police said they knew it could be sad and depressing when a football team loses a game but asked the public to remember that 999 is to be used for emergencies only. United missed out on a Wembley final with rivals Man City when they lost on penalties in the semi-final at Old Trafford under new manager David Moyes. The man opened the call-which has been uploaded onto You Tube- by asking to speak to Mr Ferguson. He then told the call handler " The result is all wrong, they had extra time and it was a total and utter load of Rubbish". After being asked if he needed to report a crime, the caller replied " yes, a crime I want to report a crime, the crime is that Manchester United were ab ...

Top 5: Future Premier League striker legends 5. Sergio Aguero A second season blighted by injury was a disappointing follow up to a first that ended with his now legendary last second contribution to claim the title. However, when Man City keep him fit he is possibly the most dangerous goalscorer in the Premier League and continues to find the net regularly. If the Citizens can keep him at Etihad Stadium for a few more years, there is a good chance he will fire them to more trophies and break all kinds of scoring records. 4. Robin Van Persie Arsenal fans are unlikely to see the Dutchman as such since his defection to Man United, but pretty much everyone else may find it difficult to deny once his career in the Premier League comes to an end. Three seasons of astonishing goalscoring culminated in leading the Old Trafford club to a record 20th title last season and he is back to goalscoring ways this year after a stuttering start. With the kind of quality Man United have and can attract, there is little cha ...
A review of Sunday's action in the Barclays Premier League, including shock defeats for Man City and Tottenham. Robin Van Persie downed old club Arsenal to blast Manchester United back into the Premier League title race with a 1-0 victory at Old Trafford as David Moyes enjoyed his biggest win as Red Devils manager. Van Persie rose unchallenged to guide home Wayne Rooney's 27th-minute corner to spark scenes of jubilation at Old Trafford and silence the taunts of the visiting fans. On another amazing weekend, in which Chelsea's home draw on Saturday was followed within 24 hours by shock defeats for Tottenham and Manchester City, United have now closed to within five points of Arsenal, who suffered their first league defeat since the opening day of the season. Indeed, six points now separate the first eight in the table, with Liverpool and Southampton now Arsenal's closest pursuers.
Well done to England for their victory over Fiji in the Rugby League World Cup. Today it's all about the footie. First up we've got Spurs v Newcastle Utd at 12 noon. Then it's Sunderland v Man City at 2pm. And then it's the biggie - Man Utd entertain Arsenal at Old Trafford at 4pm. Get down here & watch it all live. Footie & pizza - who could ask for more? ( except, maybe all you Rugby fans!!)
Fantasy365 EPL Betting and Fantasy preview Match Round 11. Safe Multibet. Odds courtesy of Bet365 (correct at 5pm Nov 7th) Swansea to win at home against Stoke @ $1.85 Everton to win away against Crystal Palace @ $1.57 Under 2.5 goals scored Norwich v West Ham @ $1.72 Combined odds = $5.00 Notes – Swansea had a tough derby loss against Cardiff and will be looking to bounce back. Stoke, with the exception of the two goals they scored at Old Trafford, struggle to hit the back of the net. Their goalkeeper Asmir Begovic is tied at the top of their goal scoring charts! Swansea on the other hand have scored against Man Utd, Liverpool and Arsenal and should have no dramas picking up 3 points here. Crystal Palace are struggling at the bottom of the EPL table whilst Everton’s road form has been exceptional with only Man City being able to take the 3 points when hosting the Toffees. Norwich and West Ham have only managed to score more than 1 goal in a match 3 times between them this season, we predict to see a ...
What happened to Aldrine Nsubuga Snr's best strike partnership of Daniel Sturridge & Luis Suarez at Emirates last evening? Aldrine should have known better as a respected football pundit that, early season form does not last beyond match day 10 in EPL history. History has it that the Club that carries its early season form to match day 11 & wins it goes ahead to win the Premier League. So if Arsenal can beat Man Utd at Old Trafford, the title is theirs but otherwise a draw or loss will mean that, the title is between them (Arsenal) & the 4th placed Team (Man City). So my brother, form is temporary but class is permanent.
Phuket Brookies Sports Bureau.boos and jeers.and cheers. So it came as no big surprise in F1...Vettel duly clinched his 4th World Title with victory in India GP last Sunday. His record is impressive, having won 10 of the 16 races so far, and the last 6 in a row. But he is not popular with many F1 fans, having been booed at 6 races. And a fall out at Mercedes.Ross Brawn is leaving at the end of the season. And there were boos at Old Trafford at the weekend.all is not well as the Reds struggle to find form. But the fans were probably cheering last night as United crushed Norwich in the Capital 1 Cup. Other Cup results saw a seemingly easy win for Chelsea at Emirates, Burnley could not fight off The Hammers whilst Fulham manager Martin Jol will be back in the spotlight after being turned over by Leicester; and with just 3 Premier League wins this season he may be off soon. Could be an interesting Cup game on Tyneside tonight with Man City. Reckon there will be boos for Newcastle United after The Magpies los ...

Oh... Man Utd fans.. what's happening?! Surely they will put it right this weekend at Sunderland in the Saturday tea time game on Sky. Saturday lunchtime on BT Sport sees Man City take on Everton, a big game for Man Utd fans too, for different reasons! Make it a full afternoon and compare Manchester teams, plus David Moyes's current and old teams, while slowly sipping a pint. You could even squeeze in a bit of Manu Tuilagi and the Leicester Tigers v Northampton Saints match in the Aviva Prem - always a great battle and usually a good scrap somewhere along the line! Sunday's early game is Norwich v Chelsea, followed by Arsenal's trip to West Brom, who must be confident after last week? Elsewhere, the Super League season draws to a conclusion on Saturday as Wigan Warriors take on Warrington Wolves in the Grand Final from Old Trafford. Hope to see you soon!

You know, I like all the West Midlands football teams to do well - fantastic result from The Baggies today - last time they won at Old Trafford (1989) was when Boney M were top of the charts (remember them ?) - and the Villa too - beating the multi-millionaires of Man City - well done ! Even The Blues - and I have blue blood in my veins - have progressed to host Stoke City in the next round of The League Cup, (or whatever it's called today). More overtime opportunities for some lucky people, 'eh ? AND, I hope the famous gold 'n black colours of The Wolves secure their promotion from the third tier of English football, come next Easter. Even Walsall had their day.and as for Coventry, you were always good to me too - even got my nose bloodied in an OSU fight with Pompey fans at Highfield Road in 1991 ! So, it's good to see all the West Midlands teams doing well - because if they do well - we all gain, in more ways than one.

Subplot: United might face former players John O’Shea, Phil Bardsley and Wes Brown at the Stadium of Light before welcoming ex-Reds striker Mark Hughes back to the Theatre of Dreams - the 1991 Cup Winners’ Cup hero is, of course, the new Stoke City boss after the Potters parted company with Tony Pulis. MUnitedand Trijay Elrphaim BlackJacob Spanish journalist Pepe Gutierrez appeared on MarcaTV today to confirm that Manchester United’s path to Thiago Alcantara is a lot clearer than expected. Alcantara stole the show as Spain retained their Euro u21 title, hitting a first half hattrick in a 4-2 win over Italy. Alcantara’s Barca future remains in doubt after the midfielder’s apparent displeasure at his lack of playing time at the Nou Camp, lead his father Mazinhoto claim that he may be seeking a move away this summer, and David Moyes is ready to pounce and bring the youngster to Old Trafford. Real Madrid had shown an interest but were ruled out of the running early on but that left Man City as well as Pep Guardiola’s Bayern Munich as competition for the starlet’s signature, but Guttierrez claims that both of these sides won’t prove a problem if United make a move for Alcantara, saying: “Tito (Vilanova) met Thiago beforethe EURO and asked him to be patient and stay at Barcelona.” “Due to c ...

STURRIDGE It is safe to say that the January transfer window was a resounding success for Brendan Rodgers. In Coutinho and Sturridge, Rodgers turned our strikeforce that was incredibly youthful and over-reliant on Suarez into a more dynamic, clinical outfit. Sturridge could not have had a better start to his Liverpool career. Scoring on his debut, Premier League debut and Anfield debut, all tied up neatly in a bow with a five-fingered salute at Old Trafford. Against Man City at the Etihad Stadium in early February, Sturridge gave what was in my opinion one of the best centre-forward performances I have seen in a red shirt. Sturridge was positioned right on the shoulder of the centre-backs, always central, always an outlet for his teammates. No matter what kind of ball came at him, Sturridge's fabulous footwork and movement was enough to make him hold up possession and bring other players into play. Seeing Sturridge master this art with his trickery completely dismissed the preconceived ideas that you need ...
Top News C-Ron not to renew contract, Man United step up interest Jose Mourinho’s return to Chelsea may not be the hottest story of the summer if Cristiano Ronaldo follows his former manager to the Premier League. Expressing his frustration all season about being unhappy in Spain, Ronaldo has signaled his intentions to not renew his contract with Real Madrid, the Daily Mail reports. Madrid would be keen to recover part of the £80million they spent 4 years ago rather than see the Portuguese leave for free in 2015. The Sun also supports the story by claiming that Manchester United are looking to firm up their interest in bringing their former superstar back to Old Trafford. The Red Devils are prepared to offer £65million plus a player for Ronaldo, who is still loved by the United faithful. The Telegraph, Daily Mail, the Star and The Times All seem to agree about the big picture. Wayne Rooney is heading for the Manchester United exit door this summer. After being axed from the United squad of Tuesday night for the Champions League match with Real Madrid, whispers began getting louder that Sir Alex Ferguson has finally decided to get rid of Wayne Rooney. Rooney, who famously announced his desire to leave Old Trafford back in 2012 only to quickly renege in a public fiasco, now seems to be left out in the cold at Carrington. According to The Times, Rooney is said to be forcing the exit issue after being left “furious” at missing out in the Madrid game. James Ducker reports that Rooney has “failed to conceal his fury at his [Real] omission.” The Times go on to suggest that PSG, Chelsea and Man City will all look to sign Rooney, while Borussia Dortmund’s Robert Lewandowski is Sir Alex’s Ferguson’s prime replacement. The Star have a much more tabloid slant on the story claiming that ...
The History Of Old Trafford (1909-1999) In 1910 Manchester United moved from Bank Street, Clayton to Old Trafford. Built in 1909, for the then huge sum of £60,000 it was terraced on three sides with a seated main stand undercover. The stadium was designed by famous Scottish architect Archibald Leitch, who also designed stands at Hampden Park, White Hart Lane and Ibrox Stadium. In 1911 and 1915 it held the FA Cup Final and in 1920 it had its largest ever attendance of 70,504 for a league game against Aston Villa, the FA Cup Semi of 1939 of Portsmouth vs Grimsby would top that with 76,962.The stadium was heavily damaged in World War 2 and for a while United played at local rival, Man City's ground, Maine Road from 1946-49. Old Trafford was a venue for the 1966 World Cup and also held the 1970 FA Cup Final replay between Chelsea and Leeds. Roofed cover was later added to the other three sides of the stadium, however all these stands suffered from obstructed views because of old fashioned roof-post design. In t ...
BREAKING: David Villa spotted at Old Trafford, with Arsene Wenger, looking to sign for Liverpool, after completing a medical with Man City.
MAN CITY in for a tough ride until the end of the season. Man City V Liverpool Some people may say it is an easy game, but it won't be, Liverpool will want to bounce back after losing a 2 goal lead at the Emirates and with Suarez anything is possible. Southampton V Man City Southampton are looking a very tough team to beat, they restricted Everton's chance's in the 0-0 draw a week ago and they gave Manchester United a scare at Old Trafford with Sir Alex saying they was the best team to play at Old trafford this season based on their second half performance. Man City V Chelsea Chelsea will have Eden Hazard back and with Juan Mata inform Chelsea are more than capable of getting a result. Aston Villa V Man City Villa are down in the relegation battle and they will be battling hard, after seeing Man City draw 0-0 at QPR I'm sure Villa will fancy there chances of getting a point. Villa gave Man Utd a tough game aswell. Man City V Wigan Looks like a routine home win but with Wigan anything is possible, Wigan on ...

Sunday 27th Jan – Man Utd transfer gossip round up The bright lights of Old Trafford is proving to be a strong allure for Stoke keeper Asmir Begovic according to the Sunday Mirror, who claim that Manchester United is the favoured destination for the much sought after stopper. Stoke want a whopping £15m for the 25 year old, who is also a target for Man City, Arsenal and Liverpool. Sir Alex Ferguson recently rubbished the rumours surrounding David De Gea’s future but one feels that the veteran Scot would jump at the chance to bring in Begovic in the summer should Stoke be willing to cede. Sir Alex Ferguson is busy planning contract extensions for his veteran players and Goal.com report that Michael Carrick will be offered a one-year extension to his current deal which expires in 2014. The 31 year old midfielder has been in inspired form this season and it is only natural that United are seeking to tie him down for another couple of years at the end of the season. De Alm

I know it's long...but it is a Must READ ! The Manchester Derby has grown in importance over the past few seasons as Man City have grown in stature. As the magnitude of the game has grown so has the excitement, and the number of memorable moments it has provided. So here are 10 recent memorable moments from the rivalry between United & City. 10. ‘Why Always Me?’ As Man City cruised to a 6-1 win over United at Old Trafford last season, one moment stood out. Having hit the headlines in the build up to the game for all the wrong reasons, Mario Balotelli stole the spotlight with a simple gesture. After scoring the opener, the Italian lifted his shirt to reveal a vest emblazoned with the phrase “Why Always Me?” The image was beamed around the world and the phrase has now become synonymous with the game. 9. Gary Neville gives Carlos Tevez the finger. In the build up to this Carling Cup semi final first leg tie in 2010, Gary Neville claimed Carlos Tevez was not worth the estimated £47m Man City had paid ...

Was it against Man City at the Ethiad or maybe Man Utd at Old Trafford i hear you ask?. err, no! it was Wigan at home! D'oh! Worst start in 20 years, poor Kenny Daglish will be turning in his grave!
Short of displays of match-winning brilliance, few things elevate a footballer's standing like his absence when setbacks are suffered. Suddenly his attributes are apparent, his presence pivotal. Those who are sidelined for long periods can return with a sky-high reputation that can only be diminished by actually playing. Javi Garcia and Jack Rodwell Everton v Benfica PA PhotosJavi Garcia and Jack Rodwell have struggled to fill the void at Man City left by Nigel De Jong's departure But there is a separate group, of players whose status grows by the game at the place where they no longer ply their trade. It is less than a third of the way into the Premier League season, but the evidence is accumulating that several clubs are being made to regret the ones that got away: the players they sold. If it was blindingly obvious that, however Olivier Giroud and Lukas Podolski fared, Arsenal would find Robin Van Persie hard to replace after 30 league goals and a further nine assists in a campaign that earned him both ...
Clattenburg had gone 38 games without refereeing Manchester United. His previous United game was the 6-1 thrashing by rivals Man City at Old Trafford. He sent Johnny Evans off in a match that Alex Ferguson described as “the most embarrassing defeat of my career”. For 38 games, Clattenburg was not handed a single United game to referee. Not a single league game, not a single cup game. That stat alone tells us nothing: he’s also gone a while without officiating Arsenal or Liverpool games. His performance today, however, tells us a great deal. Clattenburg has now become the latest in an ever lengthening line of referees who have officiated a United loss, gone a long time without reffing them, then on their return give game changing decisions to Alex Ferguson’s side.
They say that you wait for ages and then something arrives like a load of buses at the same time. Well on Saturday night I believe I will witness a hatrick of title successes. After waiting a life time having watched paid and suffered, Lancashire cricket finally won the title last year, Man City the football Premier League and now I truly believe Warrington Wolves will be champions on Saturday at Old Trafford. In his career as a Premier League referee, Howard Webb has awarded 18% of penalties he has given to Man United. 18% to ONE club, in 9 years. Former Premier League referee Jeff Winter was not given another Man United game for 2 years after sending off one of their players. Mark Clattenburg has not refereed a Man United game since he oversaw their 6-1 defeat by Man City at Old Trafford. Chris foy won't be getting their game again then

Straight fight between Man Utd and Man City for Van Persie according to Sky News... Really hope he comes to Old Trafford.
Who knows where Robin Van Persie is heading?. Man City?, they have alot of strikers already, they need to move on 1 or 2 but nobody wants to leave bcos of the high wages they collect which no club is willing to match. Adebayor, Dzeko, Aguero, Balotelli, Tevez, Santa Cruz still receive Man City's pay. Juventus? The old ladies want him but RVP would certainly prefer a better league like La Liga. Man United? Personally, Old Trafford looks the most likely destination for RVP. It will be nice to play him with Rooney since Van Persie is considered better than Chicarito & Welbeck. Chelsea? The Blues dont need his style as a striker. Chelsea do not play 4-4-2 and they dont play 4-3-3 like Barca where the 3 front players play close to each other. I doubt if he can function as a lone striker like Drogba or Ibrahimovic. Real Madrid? They already have great strikers like Benzema & Higuian and they play one one of them in a match. Barcelona? Barca dont pay stupid wages for players that they can afford their alternati ...
