Man City striker Sergio Aguero should return following a knee injury against Arsenal this weekend Manchester City play host to Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League on Super Sunday. And the champions head into this much-anticipated encounter in red-hot form, with Manuel Pellegrini’s side currently unbeaten in their last 12 league contests, a run that includes nine wins – however they have drawn two of their last three games. Jamie Redknapp joins Ed Draper to preview the Super Sunday clash between City and Arsenal Meanwhile, the visitors also arrive in the north west on an impressive run of late having managed nine victories in their last 12 games in all competitions. And key to that have been the eye-catching displays of Chile international Alexis Sanchez, with the forward having been involved in more goals than any other player in t ...
Chelsea and Man City held, Arsenal beat West Ham Chelsea were held to a 1-1 draw at Southampton as their three-match winning run came to an end. Southampton took the lead on 17 minutes when Sadio Mane lifted the ball over Thibaut Courtois, but the Blues hit back through an excellent solo Eden Hazard goal in first-half stoppage time. The Blues pressed for a winner and Saints lost Morgan Schneiderlin to a second yellow card in the final minutes, but they held firm to frustrate Jose Mourinho's men. That result would have allowed Manchester City to close within a point of the Blues at the top of the table, but they threw away a two- goal lead in a 2-2 draw with Burnley at the Etihad Stadium. David Silva opened the scoring as he swivelled in the box before slotting home, and Fernandinho doubled their advantage with a stunning strike from the edge of the area. However, Burnley hit back through George Boyd in the second half shortly after the restart, and Ashley Barnes fired them level on 81 minutes as City's ru ...

The A-Z of Manchester derby. Here i look at the history and yet another to be created tomorrow when Man City host Man United It's the derby which has everything - two sides with a simmering rivalry, rich histories and, in recent years, a similar appetite for trophies. When Manchester City and Manchester United meet on the football pitch, there's generally plenty of goals, drama and even the odd 'Why always me' T-shirt. The two teams clash at Etihad Stadium on Sunday, and BBC Sport has compiled an A-Z of one of English football's biggest games. A is for Ardwick The club now known as Manchester City. What about United? Well they were known as Newton Heath. Those teams met for the first time in the league on 10 October 1891 at Newton Heath's old home in Clayton - which is actually just 700 yards from where the Blues now play at the City of Manchester Stadium. The score in October 1891? 3-1 to Newton Heath. Newton Heath did draw Ardwick in an Fa Cup first qualifying round tie seven days earlier and won 5-1. B ...

Man City v Chelsea: Didier Drogba relishes Frank Lampard reunion Chelsea striker Didier Drogba says he is eager to be reunited with his former "partner-in-crime" Frank Lampard when the Blues take on Manchester City on Sunday. Drogba and Lampard were team-mates at Chelsea from 2004 to 2012, winning three Premier League titles together. "I will be happy to see him," Drogba said. "I think he still belongs to us." "He is a Chelsea player, for what he did. For me, he is part of the history of the club," he added. Chelsea's record goalscorer Lampard, 36, left Stamford Bridge in the summer after 13 seasons. He signed for New York City FC before he was loaned to Manchester City in a six-month deal. Meanwhile, Drogba, 36, rejoined the Blues on a one-year deal after leaving Turkish side Galatasaray. The Ivorian says Lampard is guaranteed to receive a warm reception if he plays in Sunday's game at the Etihad Stadium. "The supporters know what he gave for the club," Drogba said. Stoke City registered their first Premier League victory in Manchester as Mame Biram Diouf's fine solo effort stunned the champions. Man City 0-1 Stoke Diouf 58′ The Senegal international and former United striker raced 70 yards before slotting under Joe Hart. The hosts could have had a late penalty but Yaya Toure was booked for diving. Stoke had lost all 12 previous league matches at the Etihad Stadium and Old Trafford and manager Mark Hughes will savour this victory at his former club. The odds were stacked against the visitors who had not even scored at Manchester City in the Premier League By contrast, Manuel Pellegrini's men had failed to hit the net in just one of their last 70 home matches and the Chilean started with Sergio Aguero, who had taken just 23 seconds to score off the bench against Liverpool, up front. The Potters had failed to keep a clean sheet in their last 12 league matches but a resolute performance from Hughes's side saw them do just that and Diouf's second-half strike capped a . ...

Rodwell in Man City warning Jack Rodwell has warned youngsters contemplating a switch to Manchester City that such a move is not always the best option. Last Updated: 09/08/14 at 11:27 Post Comment Jack Rodwell: Found regular football hard to come by at Manchester City The 23-year-old midfielder can speak from experience having recently contemplated a £10million move from the reigning Premier League champions to Sunderland. Rodwell spent two years at the Etihad Stadium, but saw first team opportunities limited by injuries and fierce competition for places. He admits he would now think twice about making a similar jump in the future and believes up-and-coming talents attracting interest from top flight heavyweights should put regular game time above personal gain when weighing up their options. Asked what advice he would give those being courted by City: “I would probably say don’t sign now, I’d say get as much football as you can. "The first thing I’d ask is, ‘how good are you?’ You just ne ...

Photo: PA Man City boss Manuel Pellegrini has declared his happiness with the club's summer Transfer Window dealings so far - and confidence that they have all been above board. Over the last few days the spotlight has been on City's recruitment of Frank Lampard and Bacary Sagna following comments made about both signings from Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger. Former Chelsea midfielder Lampard has arrived at the Etihad Stadium on loan until January from New York City FC - Manchester City's American sister outfit, who the 36-year-old England international signed for earlier this summer. The Barclays Premier League champions were in May hit with sanctions from UEFA for breaching financial fair play rules, and when asked about the Lampard deal, Wenger said: ''Is it a way to get around the fair play? I don't know." The Frenchman has also subsequently suggested that his compatrio ...

Iheanacho and Nwakali both impressed with Nigeria’s under-17s at the 2013 Fifa World Cup in the United Arab Emirates and were duly snapped up by City. A 2-3 defeat at Liverpool was followed by a 2-2 draw at home to Sunderland to all but sound the death knell on City’s title charge this season and the two Nigerian youngsters have expressed sadness at the situation. “I have to feel bad (at the recent bad results) because it’s my team. I however know that if the league title is destined to be won by Man City, we will certainly win it,” Iheanacho said. Nwakali also spoke about City’s recent poor run of results, noting that he had been confident all along that the title was headed to the Etihad Stadium.

LINK UP VIDIC WANTS MAN CITY ACE TO FOLLOW HIM TO Inter Milan Vidic wants Man City ace to follow him to Inter Milan.Nemanja Vidic is hopeful that Manchester City’s Edin Dzeko will follow him to Inter Milan this summer, according to reports from La Gazetta dello Sport. The ex-Manchester United man recently announced that he will join the San Siro giants once his contract expires at the end of the season, as a part of the Italians’ big transfer plans. Among the host of names being linked with the club Dzeko has featured prominently, with the Bosnian said to be growing frustrated by a lack of playing time at the Etihad Stadium. Vidic is rumoured to be keen to link up with his current local rival, and is ready to persuade him to make the switch. The Serbian is known to be an influential figure and is respected in the game due to his achievements, which could be enough to convince Dzeko to choose Inter over the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Valencia. MAN CITY PLAN TO SIGN CHELSEA STRIKER.. Etihad Stadium boss Manuel Pellegrini is set to offload Bosnian forward Edin Dzeko and summer signing Stevan Jovetic, who has suffered with injuries all season, could be sacrificed as the Chilean looks to conduct a summer shake-up. Sergio Aguero and Alvaro Negredo will still act as Pellegrini's first choice strike-pairing but the Man City boss will look to supplement the pair with experienced Spaniard Torres. The 29 year old cost Chelsea £50m and has come nowhere near justifying the British transfer record outlay and is now something of a bit-part player under boss Jose Mourinho. Torres has started just 13 Premier League fixtures this term and his overall tally of 19 goals in 102 top tier appearances for the Blues is fairly woeful and one would imagine a Stamford Bridge exit is on the cards. However it seems more likely that the former Liverpool man would seek a move to a club that could offer him regular first team football and a move back to La Liga seems more li ...

Yaya Toure (Manchester City) £25m Ivorian has been on a hefty £250k a week deal with Man City for the past four seasons but rumours that he earned another million for every successful pass completed against West Ham during the club's 6-0 thrashing of the Hammers are thankfully for the Etihad Stadium side, baseless. Man City v Barcelona: Pellegrini says referee was 'not impartial' By Phil Mcnulty Chief football writer at Etihad Stadium Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini said Swedish referee Jonas Eriksson favoured Barcelona in the Spanish side's 2-0 victory at Etihad Stadium. Eriksson awarded Barcelona a penalty and sent off City defender Martin Demichelis as the visitors won the Champions League last-16 first-leg tie. Pellegrini claimed Eriksson was "not impartial to both teams". The Chilean added: "The referee decided the game. He was on Barcelona's side from the beginning until the end." Uefa will await reports from the referee and match delegate before deciding whether to charge Pellegrini with misconduct for his comments. Demichelis was sent off for a 54th-minute foul on Lionel Messi, who converted the resultant penalty to break the deadlock. PREVIEW/Analysis/Discussions Man City Vs Barcelona | Etihad Stadium | 19:45hrs. Live Text Commentary to follow at 19:30hrs. Following Jose Mourihno's comments that Man City will face the worst Barca side in recent times, we take a look at the teams' chances below: Barcelona had scored 100 this season by February, the only team in Europe to have bettered that is Man City with 115 goals. Alvaro Negrodo and Sergio Aguero who will miss this game have managed 49 goals between them. Fernandinho has passed fitness test and likely to partner Yaya Toure as double pivot in a 4-2-3-1 formation that is likely to see Samir Nasri in a central role with David Silva at the left. Stevan Jotevic will likely operate in the middle of attack, Jesus Navas at the right wing and Negredo leading the attack. Barcelona is likely to deplore their favorite 4-3-3 set up for another night of passing and possession game of tiki taka. Jordi Alba will contest with Adriano at the left back position with Adriano being a favorite due to his ...

Vanguard Fa Cup : Man City defeat Chelsea 2-0 on February 15, 2014 / in Sports 8:33 pm MANCHESTER – Stevan Jovetic and Samir Nasri scored as Manchester City reached the Fa Cup quarter-finals with a potentially significant 2-0 victory over Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday. City manager Manuel Pellegrini had been outdone by Chelsea counterpart Jose Mourinho in the two league meetings between the clubs this season, both of which ended in victories for the London side. But a convincing Fa Cup win redressed the balance, especially as the important second goal was scored by Nasri within moments of the fit-again Frenchman’s introduction by the City manager. Given the war of words between the rival managers in the wake of Chelsea’s 1-0 league win at the Etihad last week, it was no surprise that the game opened in cagey fashion. James Milner was charged with nullifying Chelsea’s chief playmaker Eden Hazard, with Nemanja Matic performing a similar task on City’s Yaya Toure. But the tie opened ...
Manchester City exacted their revenge on a Chelsea side that has beaten them twice in the Premier League this season with a convincing win that puts them in the quarter-finals of the Fa Cup. Stevan Jovetic and Samir Nasri scored the goals that keeps City's dreams of a quadruple alive and the winning margin might have been even more emphatic on a miserable night for Jose Mourinho's men. If Mourinho's previous visit to Etihad Stadium - a 1-0 victory at the start of February - was a tactical triumph for the Blues boss, then this was something similar for his City counterpart Manuel Pellegrini, who enjoyed only his second success in 10 managerial meetings between the pair. Analysis Image of Danny Mills Danny Mills Former England & Man City defender "I think Chelsea will be very disappointed with their performance. In the end it was a comfortable win for Man City, who were much, much better. They were solid and denied Chelsea time and space throughout. You have to say, City thoroughly deserved their victory." ...
Chelsea predicted line-up vs Manchester City: Fa Cup clash sees big guns retain places Adam Davies 11 Hours Ago Chelsea's expected starting XI to face Man City in the Fa Cup at the Etihad Stadium as Jose Mourinho attempts to win at Etihad Stadium for the second time in 2014. Schwarzer Mark Schwarzer is Chelsea's cup goalkeeper, having played both the Blues' Fa Cup and Capital One Cup7 games, as well as a single match in the UEFA Champions League. The veteran Australian has only conceded once in his six matches this season, and despite the immense calibre of Chelsea's opposition, Jose Mourinho should keep faith. Azpilicueta After sporadic appearances last season, Cesar Azpilicueta has become a first choice full back under Jose Mourinho this term, with England star Ashley Cole being dropped over the Christmas period. He should start at right back at the Etihad Stadium. Branislav Ivanovic With John Terry still a doubt due to injury, Branislav Ivanovic may shift into central defence. The Serbian scored the wi ...

Man City's £600m investment is paying off - bursting their bubble is Mourinho's biggest challenge since returning to Chelsea One of the most interesting figures in Manchester City's recent accounts showed that the club has spent more than £600million on incoming transfers since the Abu Dhabi takeover of 2008. MAN CITY STILL TITLE FAVOURITES ~ Petr Cech Chelsea GK Petr Cech has echoed the words of his manager by claiming that Man City remain title favourites. The Blues edged a heavyweight tussle at the Etihad Stadium on Monday to draw level on points with City. A 1-0 win on the road means both clubs are now 2points adrift of leaders Arsenal in the battle to land the top-flight crown. Chelsea would appear to be very much in that hunt, but Jose Mourinho has claimed that his side are outsiders to prevail in a three-horse race. Cech agrees, with the experienced shot-stopper refusing to read too much into one result with there still 14 games to come. He told his personal website: "If we had lost, they would have been 6points in front of us. This way it's level. "In my opinion,City are still the biggest favourites to win the title. "Arsenal are 2points above them but for us nothing changes. We are carrying on&need to confirm this win with another in the home match vs Newcastle." While reluctant to let emotions run wild ...

CITY'S TITLE TO LOSE? - Swansea v Man City (1245 GMT) It's not just Phil Mcnulty who believes it is Manchester City's title to lose. Jose Mourinho, perhaps playing a few little mind games, said the same thing after his side's victory over Liverpool at the weekend. However, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is not convinced that Manuel Pellegrini's side deserve to be classed as favourites. "Do you believe him (Mourinho) that City are favourites? Not more than Chelsea, for me, or Man United," said Wenger, whose side were thumped 6-3 at the Etihad Stadium on December 14. "They have the squad, yes, they have a squad of names who can pretend to win it, but at the end of the day, it is down to what we do on the pitch. "Are they, at the moment, completely unbeatable? Not for me."

Man City to Launch Astonishing £40m Plus Player Swap offer for Liverpool Striker Etihad Stadium to register big money offer for Anfield ace. Man City are set to launch an astonishing bid for Liverpool striker Luis Suarez according to Sports Direct News. The Etihad Stadium side will offer £40m plus £20m rated Bosnian forward Edin Dzeko in return for the 26 year old Anfield hot-shot. It’s an offer that is sure to receive short shrift from Liverpool who will have no intention of selling Suarez and should they feel forced into considering offers for the former Ajax man they will surely only think about selling to non-Premier League sides. Suarez has been in fabulous form this season, netting 14 goals in ten Premier League fixtures and the chance to line-up the Liverpool man alongside Sergio Aguero is no doubt incredibly tempting for boss Manuel Pellegrini it seems like it may prove a bridge too far for the big spending side. Top 5: Future Premier League striker legends 5. Sergio Aguero A second season blighted by injury was a disappointing follow up to a first that ended with his now legendary last second contribution to claim the title. However, when Man City keep him fit he is possibly the most dangerous goalscorer in the Premier League and continues to find the net regularly. If the Citizens can keep him at Etihad Stadium for a few more years, there is a good chance he will fire them to more trophies and break all kinds of scoring records. 4. Robin Van Persie Arsenal fans are unlikely to see the Dutchman as such since his defection to Man United, but pretty much everyone else may find it difficult to deny once his career in the Premier League comes to an end. Three seasons of astonishing goalscoring culminated in leading the Old Trafford club to a record 20th title last season and he is back to goalscoring ways this year after a stuttering start. With the kind of quality Man United have and can attract, there is little cha ...
Man City goalkeeper Joe Hart is facing an exit from Etihad Stadium as the club line up a move for Barcelona's Victor Valdes
Stamford Bridge side want Etihad Stadium ace. Chelsea are reportedly ready to challenge Bayern Munich in the pursuit of Man City striker Sergio Aguero according to TuttoMercato. The West London side are being linked with a stunning 50m (£42m) bid for the in-form Argentine as Jose Mourinho looks to address his stuttering Stamford Bridge strike-force. Mourinho's current quartet of strikers, Demba Ba, Samuel Eto'o, Fernando Torres and Andre Schurrle have scored just three Premier League goals between them this year, indeed loaned out Belgian Romelu Lukaku has outscored them by managing five in five appearances for Everton. Pep Guardiola is apparently keen on bringing 25 year old Aguero to the Allianz Arena but Mourinho may have other ideas though one wonders if Man City would consider any offers for such a pivotal player, especially one who has only recently been tied down to a long term contract. The former Atletico Madrid man has been a massive success since making his £38m move to the Etihad Stadium bac ...
Man City Ready Move for £10m Stoke City Keeper Asmir Begovic after Joe Hart Horror Show Etihad Stadium side keen on Britannia Stadium custodian. Another error from Man City keeper Joe Hart has reportedly led to Manuel Pellegrini readying a bid for Stoke City custodian Asmir Begovic according to Sports Direct News. Pellegrini is running out of patience with England international Hart and is looking to make a move for £10m rated Bosnian Begovic in the January Transfer Window. The former Real Madrid boss has previously been linked with a move for out of favour Spaniard Iker Casillas but the Etihad Stadium side have been scared off by the prospect of having to fork out up to £50m to cover the player’s contract demands as well as the fee needed to lure him away from the Bernabeu. Former City boss Roberto Mancini had looked into bringing in Begovic before he was axed and now the 26 year old Britannia Stadium man is back on the Man City radar. Begovic may well be tempted by a move to join Man City where he ...
Man City new boy came close to ending up a Chelsea player Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho has revealed that he was on the brink of signing for west Londoners Chelsea before he arrived at the Etihad Stadium. The Brazilian was quoted in The Metro, saying: “It is a complicated story about my transfer to England. There was contact with Chelsea before City came in for me. Nobody told me about this in Shakhtar until after. I don’t know what happened with Shakhtar and Chelsea in the negotiations, but nobody told me.” However, the 28 year old has avoided any unwanted speculation by making it clear that he is pretty happy in Manchester and that he has no regrets about failing to land a move to Stamford Bridge. Fernandinho joined the Citizens in June this year, courtesy of a £30m switch from Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk. He has since then made 11 appearances for the club, scoring a solitary goal and providing two assists. Meanwhile, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho will certainly rue missing out on th ...

Man City expected to abandon move for Malaga’s Real Madrid target Isco ! Manchester City will end their pursuit of Malaga playmaker Isco according to The Independent. City were hoping to lure the 21-year old to Eastlands but it looks as though they will leave Real Madrid to make the £25million play for his services. Manuel Pellegrini had been handed the task of landing Isco’s signature as his first move as new City boss but will not put too much work into his Andalusia apprentice following the arrivals of Jesus Navas and Fernandinho prior to him stepping into the Emirates Stadium hot seat.
Man City fear secret scouting database could have been HACKED by employee of Premier League rival Investigation: But Manuel Pellegrini isn't thought to have been told about the breach Denis Doyle By Steve Bates In the murky world of big business, corporate espionage has always been a weapon used by the unscrupulous to make surethey stay ahead of rivals, writes Steve Bates of the Sunday People. But Manchester City’s shocking discovery that their worldwide scouting database could have been hacked by an employee of a rival Premier League club will rockfootball to its core. With new boss Manuel Pellegrini set to take charge, City believe their online Scout7 performance analysis system – holding detailed scouting reports of every player they have targeted at homeand around the globe – has been infiltrated. STURRIDGE It is safe to say that the January Transfer Window was a resounding success for Brendan Rodgers. In Coutinho and Sturridge, Rodgers turned our strikeforce that was incredibly youthful and over-reliant on Suarez into a more dynamic, clinical outfit. Sturridge could not have had a better start to his Liverpool career. Scoring on his debut, Premier League debut and Anfield debut, all tied up neatly in a bow with a five-fingered salute at Old Trafford. Against Man City at the Etihad Stadium in early February, Sturridge gave what was in my opinion one of the best centre-forward performances I have seen in a red shirt. Sturridge was positioned right on the shoulder of the centre-backs, always central, always an outlet for his teammates. No matter what kind of ball came at him, Sturridge's fabulous footwork and movement was enough to make him hold up possession and bring other players into play. Seeing Sturridge master this art with his trickery completely dismissed the preconceived ideas that you need ...

Man City on alert as AC Milan open to striker sale AC Milan have admitted they could be willing to sell Manchester City target Stephan El Shaarawy. The 20-year-old, who scored 18 goals in all competitions last season, is regarded as one of the hottest prospects in world football. City have earmarked the Italy international as a potential signing this summer, while new Napoli boss Rafa Benitez is also understood to be eyeing a move. El Shaarawy said earlier this week that he is flattered with reports linking him with a switch to the Etihad Stadium but played down talk he could leave the San Siro. However, Milan chief executive Adriano Galliani has suggested the Serie A club may cash in on the young striker if the right offercomes along. He said: "El Shaarawy? We never said he is not for sale. Napoli? Askthe president Aurelio De Laurentiis."

Out-of-favour Man City man could become Mourinho’s new Drogba Returning Chelsea boss will move for Edin Dzeko before returning to native Portugal for additions As Chelsea supporters laud the return of Jose Mourinho to Stamford Bridge, their mouths salivate at the prospect of the potential signings that will follow his arrival. And The Special One is wasting little time in identifying his chief summer targets, with moves for several high-profile players across the continent mooted. Perhaps his most surprising potential addition at first glance though, comes from fellow Premier League challengers Manchester City, in the form of imposing striker Edin Dzeko. Dzeko was utilised as little more than a fringe player during Roberto Mancini’s reign at the Etihad Stadium, but maintains an impressive scoring record nonetheless, notching 40 goals in 109 appearances across all competitions for the Sky Blues, with whom he is 3/1 to remain beyond this summer. The powerful Bosnian started only 62 of those matches, but ...
Man City lead Maher race Manchester City are in pole position to sign playmaker Adam Maher from Dutch side AZ Alkmaar, amid much Premier League interest. The 19-year-old has also attracted attention from Arsenal and Chelsea with his eye-catching performances in the Eredivisie in the past two seasons. City director of football Txiki Begiristain has held talks over a move for Maher and the Netherlands international has been invited to attend a game at the Etihad Stadium. He is seen as a potential replacement for Samir Nasri, who Goal.com revealed last week could be sold by the Premier League champions if they receive a bid in the region of 18 million pounds. Maher, who supported Ajax in his childhood, turned down a move to City when they tried to sign him as a youth player. He is under contract until 2015 and was rewarded for his impressive form with a substantial pay rise in October, as AZ looked to fend off interest from around Europe. Dutch rivals Ajax and PSV Eindhoven are also battling for Maher’s si ...

EXCLUSIVE•RAFA WAR(ANOTHER TRAINING GROUND BUST-UP?)!! Rafa Benitez was involved in a training ground bust-up with Chelsea's shell-shocked squad on Monday. Less than 24hrs after they were beaten 2-0 by champions Man City, the Spaniard told his players that their attitude had cost a series of managers the sack, then lectured them on their failure to grasp tactics&a lack of effort. But interim manager Benitez was stunned when 1 senior player suggested he might be at fault, given the club's success in winning the Euro Cup last May. 'We won the Euro Cup with this team,' the player said. A furious Benitez also accused the squad of under-performing since he replaced Roberto Di Matteo in November. Sportsmail understands skipper John Terry, who has been overlooked since recovering from injury, then made a passionate case on behalf of the players, even though he wasn't even on the pitch at the Etihad Stadium. City manager Roberto Mancini has been promised a marquee summer signing by player recruitment bosses Ferran Soriano and Txiki Beguiristain after missing out on top target Robin Van Persie last year, says the Daily Express. Cavani, Atletico Madrid’s Radamel Falcao and Liverpool’s Luis Suarez are the hit men in his sights. But it’s Cavani who is more likely to end up at the Etihad Stadium, with City prepared to shatter the British record £50m which brought Fernando Torres to Chelsea. Falcao appears destined for Chelsea while Liverpool would not give up Suarez without a fight.

Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini says he is fed up with the treatment he receives from certain opposition managers after a touchline spat with Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert. - Blog: Blips and bumps for City - Man City crash out to Villa - Jolly: City self-destruct - Delaney: West Ham hammered - Capital One Cup Gallery The pair were involved in a heated exchange as City were dumped out of the Capital One Cup after a 4-2 defeat by Villa at the Etihad Stadium. Mancini complained to the fourth official about a tackle by Joe Bennett on Gareth Barry, to which Lambert took exception, and the Italian believes the altercation is typical of the attitude many opposition managers have towards him. Man City Plan Triple Barcelona Raid city keen on Nou Camp youngsters. Ferran Soriano, the new Manchester City chief executive, is planning a triple raid on former club Barcelona, RSI REPORTS. Soriano, who spent five years at the Nou Camp between 2003 and 2008, ended City’s 11-month search for a chief executive when he arrived at the club in August. Despite his knowledge of Barcelona and close relationship with certain players, Sorriano is aware that it will be tough trying to sign some of the Spanish side’s top stars, including Lionel Messi, and he has instead set his sights on luring some of the club’s brightest young prospects to Etihad Stadium. City are believed to have targeted Cristian Tello, who was linked with Liverpool earlier this summer, midfielder Sergi Roberto and winger Gerard Deulofeu. Arsenal take the opportunity to cast an eye over a Man City player Nigel De Jong has fallen out of favour at the Etihad Stadium during the club’s Premier League winning campaign last term and now reports in the media have surfaced about potential interest from Italy with Inter Milan looking to bring the Dutchman to the San Siro. The former European Cup winners will face a serious threat from Arsenal, if reports are to be believed, as the London based club are looking to line up a move in order to bring some bite to their midfield. De Jong was a staple member of the Man City midfield since his arrival from Hamburg for 18 million pounds in 2009. The player is known as the lawnmower for his ability to break down the play of the opposition while sitting comfortably in his slot, in front of the defence. The Dutchman usually plays alongside a midfielder in the holding role which helps increase his impact on the team’s performance. For Arsenal, De Jong will be able to provide a concrete cover for a defence t ...

Vincent Kompany has been rewarded for captaining Manchester City to its first Premier League title by being given a new six-year contract. Goal.com exclusively revealed more than two months ago that the 26-year-old - a key figure under Roberto Mancini and scorer of the crucial winner against Manchester United towards the end of the campaign - would be offered a new long-term deal at the club. The news also comes after it was revealed that David Silva will be offered a new deal, making him one of the club's highest earners in the process, and Kompany claimed he was delighted to be a key part of the "project" being undertaken at the Etihad Stadium. “For me if you are good somewhere then there is no reason to look elsewhere,” he told City's official website. “Man City as a project is not just a project of the owners or the people employed by the club; it is also my project. “I have been here since the beginning and I have seen everything at the club change inside and out. Less than forty-eight hours to the finale of a fantastic football season (the real kind where they actually use their feet) in Europe. In my beloved Germany Borussia Dortmund kept the Bundesliga title out of Munich for the second year running. Italy saw Juventus reclaim their crown after nine years without losing in league play all season. A battle Real all season long that saw Los Blancos dethrone Barcarole in Spain. And who can forget last Sunday's pulsating finish at the Etihad Stadium as Man City triumphed in the EPL! Now I'm geared up for Saturday to root like *** for Bayern Munich!!! Sorry Jim Carry but as you know a Bayern victory gets my Spurs into next year's Champions League. That trumps any loyalty to the EPL!
Wonders shall never end !!! On Sunday with my samsung digital camera,I took a compulsory trip to the Etihad Stadium to celebrate with the Man City fans, 100% confidence they are clinching the Premier League title that fateful day. Arriving the Stadium confirmed my predictions as City has just announced a thunderous volcanic supersonic sound that almost cost me deaf instantaneously, City has just scored through Zabaleta. The euphoria went on, not until I discovered strange sounds emanating from a strange position in the stadium,QPR has just equalize, and a couple of minutes I heard a repetition of this familiar sound, subconsciously I perceived things were wrong. After confirmation I took a stagecoach back to Picadilly at City Center and later to Oxford Road to avoid embarrassing my day. Watching on Screen in a Pub It was 90 min, Man City 1-QPR 2, and Sunderland 0- Man Utd 1. As a Football genius, I had given the title to Man Utd and I belief 99.9% of the world was with me, even Sepp Blatter, Platini or T. ...
What a spectacular finish to the football season.. I cannot remember one with such a smashing finish. I must declare that if I was a Man City fan I doubt whether I would of still been in the Etihad Stadium when Sergio Aguero finished QPR off. I would probabley of been walking out of the car park when Edin Dzeko got the second Man City goal.

After Joey Barton is sent off for QPR, Jamie Mackie puts the Londoners ahead against all the odds. Edin Dzeko levels for City but United are still leading and remain two points clear with just moments left. 90 + 5 mins: Man Utd win at Sunderland but City are still playing. Losing Premier League crown to Man City on goal difference would be agony, says Young Monday, 07 May 2012 13:08 | Written by skysports.com Ashley Young fears Manchester United's season will end in agony because their failure to score enough goals will allow rivals City to pip them to the title. Roberto Mancini's side are on course to land their first championship since 1968 after Yaya Toure's brace earned an impressive 2-0 win at St James' Park. And although United beat Swansea 2-0 at Old Trafford they need a miracle - a QPR win or draw at the Etihad Stadium - to retain the Barclays Premier League crown. Young is remaining positive, but understands just how tight the margin of defeat will be if United conceded their title. He told MUTV: 'It's disappointing we didn't score more goals as it looked like we could've done but we've still got to have faith QPR can do us a favour. 'It comes down to the last day now and of course it will be disappointing, especially if it goes down to goal difference, and we lose ...
