Manchester City Secured Their Second Premier League Title Manchester City’s French midfielder Samir Nasri (L) celebrates with Manchester City’s Argentian defender Pablo Zabaleta after Nasri scored his team’s first goal during the English Premier League football match between Manchester City and West Ham United at the Etihad Stadium in Manchesteri am c Two strikes from Samir Nasri and Vicent Kompany were enough for Manchester City FC to secure their second English Premiership title in the space of two years! The home side defeated West Ham United two goals to nil in their last game of the season which was played simultaneously with nine other games across England. The Citizens of Manchester had received pressure from Liverpool FC but after the latter played a three-all draw with Crystal Palace in their 36th match, things looked easier for Manuel Pellegrini’s side. In 2012, Man City won for the first time the English Premiership title, edging out rivals Manchester United with just a point.
FOUR STAR CITY A DRAW AWAY FROM TITLE! Liverpool prayed for a miracle. Aston Villa were the supposed messiah. For an hour Cystanbul looked possible. Then Edin Dzeko opened the floodgates of a football heaven at Eastlands. By the time, Yaya Toure was hammering the final nail in the coffin of the Villains, the Red side of Merseyside must have been in death silence. Dzeko had got his brace and Stevan Jovetic had got on in the act. 4-0 it finished. Liverpool still praying for a miracle. Can West Ham be the new saviour? Man City now need only a draw to be confirmed champions of the English Premier League. The title has taken a short trip to the blue of the City. So it appears. Jose Mourinho said West Ham employ 19th century football, in perfecting the Portuguese art of packing the bus at Stamford Bridge, to get a draw. Even that artistry may not prove enough to derail Manchester's march to the third title in as many years. A draw will hand Manuel Pellegrini's men the title. Sunday is the decider. Miracles do h ...
Man City go top, Fulham and Cardiff relegated (AFP) Saturday 3 May 2014 Share Manchester City claimed top spot in the English Premier League and took a significant step towards the title by coming from behind to edge Everton 3-2 at Goodison Park. Ross Barkley's stunner put hosts Everton ahead in the 11th minute, but Sergio Aguero quickly equalised and a brace from Edin Dzeko secured victory for Manuel Pellegrini's side despite Romelu Lukaku reducing the deficit. City now lead previous leaders Liverpool on goal difference -- +59 to +50 -- and will therefore be practically assured of winning the title if they win their two remaining games. Chelsea and Liverpool each have opportunities to take over at the summit over the next two days, but if City beat Aston Villa on Wednesday and win at home to West Ham United next weekend, they are unlikely to be caught. Everton's defeat, meanwhile, means that Arsenal are guaranteed to finish at least as high as fourth, guaranteeing them a place in next season's UEFA Champ ...

Man City keen on Real Madrid starlet The Daily Express is reporting that Manchester City will keep tabs on Real Madrid’s talented defender, Raphael Varane, and might look to bring him to the Etihad Stadium in the summer transfer window. The Frenchman has earned a number of starts for the La Liga champions this campaign and showed how good he is in the Copa del Rey semi-final against Barcelona, scoring in the 1-1 draw. Unsurprisingly, this performance has caught the attention of some of the richest clubs in Europe, with Paris Saint Germain and City both keen on the 19-year-old. However, it looks as though the English Premier League outfit might be leading the way at the moment and Roberto Mancini does want to add to his back four in the summer. If Varane was to join, then Joleon Lescott might be allowed to leave the club and search for first-team football elsewhere. The defender might weigh up his options in the coming months though and if he wants to stay at Real, then it is likely he will as they are n ...

A bit of meaningful trivia from the English Premier League that should have all Liverpool fans sitting forward in their seats begging for more - if you were to take the results of the last six matches - LIVERPOOL would be FIFTH on the table behind Man City, Man Untd, West Brom and Norwich City being unbeaten having two wins and four draws. In 2007 I decided that I needed a team to cheer for in the English Premier League. I hate glamorous clubs and I despised man U so I chose a midtable club, Man City. They had Stephen Ireland, Darius Vasell, David James, Shaun Wright-Philips. I loved their sky blue unis and their rivalry with the Red Devils. Who would have known what would happen after that? I may not have waited 44 years, but I waited 5 and that is pretty long. And what an ending. Pure, utter fiction. A Hollywood scrptwriter could not have cooked it up any better. But they did. I have lost my voice for the first time in a Football match since Chris Greatwich's equalizer vs Singapore in the Suzuki Cup. I'm a City fan for life. And I would have said that even if they hadn't won tonight. Being a sports fan is about ups and downs. Tonight I savor one of the biggest ups ever!
