Edin Džeko: I'm there when Man City need me Edin Dzeko is planning to be the City goal hero in Rome. And the Bosnian Diamond, who has form for coming up with vital strikes, hopes he can help the Blues complete an unlikely Champions League escape, despite losing top scorer Sergio Aguero. The Blues HAVE to score, and better CSKA Moscow’s result at Bayern Munich, to grab second place in their group. But the loss of Aguero, out with knee ligament damage, was a severe blow, especially as Dzeko and Stevan Jovetic are both coming back from injury. Dzeko has been the City saviour many times, not least on the final day of the incredible 2012 title race, when he scored the “other” added time goal that set up Aguero’s immortal winner. He id it again last season, coming into the team when Aguero and Jovetic were injured, and Alvaro Negredo’s form had nosedived, and bagged crucial goals at Crystal Palace and Everton, and in a nervy home win over Aston Villa. Now City will look to him again, either as a star ...

EPL: Week Seven Preview HULLY CITY vs. Crystal Palace Venue: KC Stadium Date: October 4th 2014 Kickoff: 16:00 Referee: M. Dean TAKE: After seeing their cornerback knocked off by a resolute Man City side last week, Hull City boss, Steve Bruce would hope for a more fruitful outing against Crystal Palace who beat Leicester City in a ruthless version last week. Neil Warnock must be cracking his head on how his team will cope when captain Mile Jedinak leaves in January for the Asian cup games. The powerful Australian was in his usual combative best last week and palace’s hope of getting anything from the tigers will rest solely on him. Abel Hernardez and Mo Diame would surely pose dangers fro the visitors which is why Delaney and Scott Dann would have to be on their toes through the go minutes. This is a game that can go either way as both teams have shown they can score goals which is what I expect to see. Once again in this encounter, but Palace’s better organization at the back would make them edge thi ...

El Cashico - Manchester City vs Chelsea As the Barclays Premier League champions, Manchester City prepare to host league leaders, Chelsea, this Sunday afternoon(16:00 BST or GMT+1) up at the Etihad, Manuel Pellegrini and Jose Mourinho have been previewing the football action in their respective pre-match press conferences. Whilst the City boss has confirmed that Chelsea legend Frank Lampard, who's currently on loan with the Citizens from New York City FC, will be part of his 18-man match day squad as well as injury concerns for Stevan Jovetic (hamstring), Fernando (groin) as well as Edin Dzeko(back, though expected to be fit by Sunday); the Chelsea gaffer has no such concerns to report as he confirmed that star striker and league top- scorer, Diego Costa will start. So the stage is set for what is this weekend's marquee fixture, a classical of sorts. With that in mind then, Vital Chelsea brings you a few stats - as supplied by Opta - to mull over. Stephen Keshi deserves credit The truth of the matter is that all pundits, bloggers and analysts of the beautiful game are just there to theorise and guess. The coaches and the players who do the job are the best placed to make comments, predictions and judgements. Say what you like, Stephen Keshi knows his job. He has been very successful at his job as head coach of the Nigerian national team. He has the stats to back up his achievements thus far. A solitary strike by Osaze Odemwigie, following some strong play down the right by the battering ram that is Emmanuel Emenike, was enough for Nigeria to beat Bosnia-Herzegovina. That win knocked out the European side from the group, gave Nigeria four points and broke Nigeria's record of no World Cup win since France '98. A favourable line call had denied Bosnia's Man City striker Edin Dzeko a clear goal but that was probably evened up when the same player clearly handled the ball as he controlled it and turned to take a shot in injury time. FOUR Star City A DRAW AWAY FROM TITLE! Liverpool prayed for a miracle. Aston Villa were the supposed messiah. For an hour Cystanbul looked possible. Then Edin Dzeko opened the floodgates of a football heaven at Eastlands. By the time, Yaya Toure was hammering the final nail in the coffin of the Villains, the Red side of Merseyside must have been in death silence. Dzeko had got his brace and Stevan Jovetic had got on in the act. 4-0 it finished. Liverpool still praying for a miracle. Can West Ham be the new saviour? Man City now need only a draw to be confirmed champions of the English Premier League. The title has taken a short trip to the blue of the City. So it appears. Jose Mourinho said West Ham employ 19th century football, in perfecting the Portuguese art of packing the bus at Stamford Bridge, to get a draw. Even that artistry may not prove enough to derail Manchester's march to the third title in as many years. A draw will hand Manuel Pellegrini's men the title. Sunday is the decider. Miracles do h ...

Man City go top, Fulham and Cardiff relegated (AFP) Saturday 3 May 2014 Share Manchester City claimed top spot in the English Premier League and took a significant step towards the title by coming from behind to edge Everton 3-2 at Goodison Park. Ross Barkley's stunner put hosts Everton ahead in the 11th minute, but Sergio Aguero quickly equalised and a brace from Edin Dzeko secured victory for Manuel Pellegrini's side despite Romelu Lukaku reducing the deficit. City now lead previous leaders Liverpool on goal difference -- +59 to +50 -- and will therefore be practically assured of winning the title if they win their two remaining games. Chelsea and Liverpool each have opportunities to take over at the summit over the next two days, but if City beat Aston Villa on Wednesday and win at home to West Ham United next weekend, they are unlikely to be caught. Everton's defeat, meanwhile, means that Arsenal are guaranteed to finish at least as high as fourth, guaranteeing them a place in next season's UEFA Champ ...

Flamini restore Gunners pride against Manchester City Arsenal restored some pride after a difficult week with a hard-fought 1-1 draw with Man City at the Emirates on Saturday evening. The tribulations of the Chelsea defeat and the late draw with Swansea were clearly evident in the Gunners' first half performance. They looked like a team that lacked confidence and belief, and it's fair to say that City controlled the game for the most part. Certainly, in terms of chances, the visitors were on top and although their goal had a touch of good fortune about it, Arsenal were punished again for losing the ball high up the pitch. This time Lukas Podolski was careless in possession and City's quickness of movement left Arsenal exposed at the back. Edin Dzeko's 18th minute shot cannoned back off the post and David Silva bundled it over the line. The goal affected Arsenal throughout the rest of the first half, as the weight of the previous poor results bore down on them. Unlike the game against Chelsea though, they ...

The ex-Manchester United man recently announced that he will join the San Siro giants once his contract expires at the end of the season, as a part of the Italians’ big transfer plans. Among the host of names being linked with the club Dzeko has featured prominently, with the Bosnian said to be growing frustrated by a lack of playing time at the Etihad Stadium. Vidic is rumoured to be keen to link up with his current local rival, and is ready to persuade him to make the switch. The Serbian is known to be an influential figure and is respected in the game due to his achievements, which could be enough to convince Dzeko to choose Inter over the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Valencia. Manchester City recovered from the early sending-off of Vincent Kompany to beat Hull City 2-0 at the KC Stadium and return to winning ways after a disappointing week. Having bowed out of the FA Cup and UEFA Champions League in the past seven days, Man City's Premier League title hopes were in danger of suffering a dent when Kompany was given his marching orders after just 10 minutes. MAN CITY PLAN TO SIGN CHELSEA STRIKER.. Etihad Stadium boss Manuel Pellegrini is set to offload Bosnian forward Edin Dzeko and summer signing Stevan Jovetic, who has suffered with injuries all season, could be sacrificed as the Chilean looks to conduct a summer shake-up. Sergio Aguero and Alvaro Negredo will still act as Pellegrini's first choice strike-pairing but the Man City boss will look to supplement the pair with experienced Spaniard Torres. The 29 year old cost Chelsea £50m and has come nowhere near justifying the British transfer record outlay and is now something of a bit-part player under boss Jose Mourinho. Torres has started just 13 Premier League fixtures this term and his overall tally of 19 goals in 102 top tier appearances for the Blues is fairly woeful and one would imagine a Stamford Bridge exit is on the cards. However it seems more likely that the former Liverpool man would seek a move to a club that could offer him regular first team football and a move back to La Liga seems more li ...
Bosnia striker Edin Dzeko will be up against his Man City teammate Sergio Aguero at the World Cup. Who will win?
Posted on: Sat 15 Feb 2014 Summary We exit the FA Cup at the fifth-round stage having not matched the performance level of the league win on this ground earlier in the month. It was a deserved win for Manchester City who this time found a way to stop Chelsea's counter-attacking threat, and were able to restrict the visitors to no attempts on target during the 90 minutes. Stevan Jovetic in the first half and Samir Nasri in the second scored the goals that did the damage after well-worked moves. Man City's display was not packed with attempts on goal, although Petr Cech saved well from Edin Dzeko before the break, but they had enough to end our run of 12 games unbeaten, stretching back to the Capital One Cup exit at Sunderland. Team News There was good news before kick-off with Gary Cahill fit to start following his calf injury in the closing minutes at West Brom midweek. It meant Jose Mourinho was able to name the same side as the one that did so well in the league game here, bar one player. With David ...
GOAL - Man City 1-0 Chelsea - Stevan Jovetic (16 mins) Stevan Jovetic had hit the bar just a minute before as Petr Cech spilled Yaya Toure's shot, but makes no mistake when offered a second bite of the cherry. Man City's £600m investment is paying off - bursting their bubble is Mourinho's biggest challenge since returning to Chelsea One of the most interesting figures in Manchester City's recent accounts showed that the club has spent more than £600million on incoming transfers since the Abu Dhabi takeover of 2008. Robinho, Emmanuel Adebayor, Carlos Tevez, Craig Bellamy, Sergio Aguero, David Silva, Yaya Toure. It is an astonishing list of talent. Tonight at the Etihad Stadium is the reason City have invested so extravagantly. A Barclays Premier League game against Chelsea and Jose Mourinho. Second plays third and City have the chance to go top. Is it a shootout for the title? Not quite but it feels like it. City will be without Aguero, who is injured. Game preview: THIS GUY FROM Sky Sports JUST GOT ME SITTED UP! By Paul Merson, Sky Sport. Chelsea are capable of going anywhere and grinding out a 0-0 draw. Eg manu game. But surely with all the attacking flair Chelsea have got they can do better than play for a draw at city. So surely Mourinho won't go to the Etihad and defend. For a start they've got no Sergio Aguero and Man City are a completely different beast without him. I've been lucky to watch a lot of Man City this season and they are nowhere near the same team when he's not up front. The two strikers - Edin Dzeko and Alvaro Negredo - will really suit John Terry and Gary Cahill. They will play up against them, rather than dropping off into the hole like Aguero does. They are top- drawer players, but it will be much easier for the defenders because they won't be turning and running at them. I really like Nemanja Matic in midfield and I don't understand why he didn't play against West Ham over John Obi Mikel, who slows the game down. I think Matic . ...

Rumours from Italy: Mirko Vucinic to Arsenal? Edin Dzeko to Juventus? This is a possible combination according to Silly Season as Vucinic is a target right now and in that case Dzeko would be a possible replacement for the old lady in Turin, Italy. Étienne Capoue to SSC Napoli? (50-50 for this to happen) Jorginho to Liverpool? (probably not during this winter window) Cristian Zaccardo to West Brom? (low chance) Johnny Heitinga to Fiorentina? (why not) David Pizarro to Man City? (very likely, but depends on many other transfers before this can happen... so likely if things plays out for different teams) Demba Ba to AS Roma? (Demba Ba is a target for many teams and Silly Season thinks this might not be what the player is looking for. And working with Totti isn't the optimal balance for AS Roma). Arsenal interested in Lucas Biglia Ishak Belfodil to West Ham? (Very Likely to happen) Chelsea interested in Fredy Guarín Fredy Guarín to Spurs? Man City to Launch Astonishing £40m Plus Player Swap offer for Liverpool Striker Etihad Stadium to register big money offer for Anfield ace. Man City are set to launch an astonishing bid for Liverpool striker Luis Suarez according to Sports Direct News. The Etihad Stadium side will offer £40m plus £20m rated Bosnian forward Edin Dzeko in return for the 26 year old Anfield hot-shot. It’s an offer that is sure to receive short shrift from Liverpool who will have no intention of selling Suarez and should they feel forced into considering offers for the former Ajax man they will surely only think about selling to non-Premier League sides. Suarez has been in fabulous form this season, netting 14 goals in ten Premier League fixtures and the chance to line-up the Liverpool man alongside Sergio Aguero is no doubt incredibly tempting for boss Manuel Pellegrini it seems like it may prove a bridge too far for the big spending side. 7-0 City earned an emphatic 7-0 victory over as seven different players scored in their biggest-ever win. The hosts’ goalkeeper Costel who earned his first start of the Barclays season, had little to do as his outfield team-mates comfortably secured the points. A Bradley Johnson own goal set the ball rolling, before further first-half efforts from David Silva, Matija Nastasic and Alvaro Negredo put the hosts firmly in control. Yaya Toure, Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko added goals five, six and seven after the break as the match lived up to its goal-rich reputation, with 25 having been scored in the previous four top-flight meetings between the two sides. In addition to Pantilimon replacing Joe Hart as goalkeeper, Negredo replaced Javi Garcia in the only other alteration to the Man City side that started a 2-1 defeat at Chelsea last Sunday. Man City v Wigan (1945 BST) Both Manchester City and Wigan are fighting on four fronts this season, and it's reflected in the starting line-ups. Only Fernandinho remains from the City side which hammered neighbours United at the weekend, but their forward line of Edin Dzeko and Stevan Jovetic still cost them the best part of £50m. As for Wigan, there's no place for FA Cup final hero Ben Watson as they make nine changes from their last match - only Leon Barnett and Thomas Rogne keeping their places.

Jose Mourinho Draws Up Seven ManWish-List Ahead of £100m Chelsea Spending Spree Stamford Bridge side set for a busy summer. Returning Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is ready to spark a ‘flurry’ of transfer activity as he seeks to begin a Blues spending spree that could pass the £100mmark according to the Daily Star . The 50 year old Portuguese bosswill look to bring in FC Porto centre-back Eliaqium Mangala and Vitesse Arnhem youngster Marco van Ginkel, capped as senior national team level for France and Holland respectively, moves that could set the West London side back around £28m, but that will just be the beginning of what could prove to be a very busy summer for theformer Real Madrid boss. In order to strengthen his Chelsea attack Mourinho has set his sights on a number of high-profile targets with Napoli ace Edinson Cavani, Zenit forward Hulk, Fiorentina striker Stevan Jovetic, German international Andre Schurrle and Man City man Edin Dzeko all on his wish-list, with the Blues manager looking to ...
If you thought the days of big-money transfers were over with the arrival of Uefa's Financial Fair Play regulations, the signing of Fernandinho might make you reconsider. FFP is all about sustainable business models: what that looks like varies from club to club. It's about balancing the books, not restricting spending levels per se. As long as Man City, or any other club that's signed up to Uefa's rules can earn enough from gate receipts, TV revenue, advertising, merchandising, player sales and prize money to cover wages and transfers, they're OK. That's a simple view of the system but in City's case, it's expected they'll sell on a number of players who'll bring in substantial transfer fees, including Edin Dzeko. Of course, the unexpectedly large uplift in the latest Premier League TV deal has opened up a fair few chairmen's wallets too. Gordon Farquhar BBC sports news correspondent
Jose Mourinho may not see the need to overhaul the Chelsea squad he has inherited too much, but the Portuguese has already stepped up his pursuit of at least 4 big-name signings ahead of the start of the new Premier League season. Chelsea have already agreed in principle to sign Andre Schurrle from Bayer Leverkusen, but Mourinho has expressed his need for another striker,&there is keen interest in Man City's Edin Dzeko as well as Fiorentina forward Stevan Jovetic. Benfica midfielder Nemanja Matic&Porto defender Elaiquim Mangala are also on Mourinho's radar,as are Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi&Shakhtar Donetsk playmaker Fernandinho.
Out-of-favour Man City man could become Mourinho’s new Drogba Returning Chelsea boss will move for Edin Dzeko before returning to native Portugal for additions As Chelsea supporters laud the return of Jose Mourinho to Stamford Bridge, their mouths salivate at the prospect of the potential signings that will follow his arrival. And The Special One is wasting little time in identifying his chief summer targets, with moves for several high-profile players across the continent mooted. Perhaps his most surprising potential addition at first glance though, comes from fellow Premier League challengers Manchester City, in the form of imposing striker Edin Dzeko. Dzeko was utilised as little more than a fringe player during Roberto Mancini’s reign at the Etihad Stadium, but maintains an impressive scoring record nonetheless, notching 40 goals in 109 appearances across all competitions for the Sky Blues, with whom he is 3/1 to remain beyond this summer. The powerful Bosnian started only 62 of those matches, but ...
please Help us by share this post \(^.^)/Rafa’s reign at Chelsea ends with second friendly defeat to Man City in New York goal glut \(^.^)/ Friendly: Manchester City 5 Chelsea 3 Rafael Benitez quietly slipped out of Chelsea as the Europa League winners ended their season with a friendly loss to Manchester City at Yankee Stadium. The Londoners failed to satisfy their American fans as City, days after launching a Major League Soccer franchise in New York, showed a determination to make their mark in the Big Apple. A well-taken double by Samir Nasri and further goals from Gareth Barry, James Milner and Edin Dzeko secured victory but Chelsea contributed to an entertaining encounter with a Ramires double and Juan Mata’s free-kick. The final whistle brought to an end Napoli-linked Benitez’s tenure as interim boss and, having not spoken to media throughout the week-long post-season tour of the United States, the Spaniard made no public farewell. The club were unwilling to comment on reports that Jose Mouri ...
Ok guys and gals here is the 3rd and final part of my season review. hope you enjoy. LFC 24/7 News 2012/13 Season Review Part 3: FEBRUARY... The month would start with a trip to the Emirates and reigning Premier League champions Man City. We'd shown earlier in the season that we were more than a match for them. After going 1-0 down to an Edin Dzeko strike in the 23rd minute we turned the game on its head. A stunning left foot strike from the edge of the box from new boy Sturridge against the club where he started his career. As you would expect the celebration was minimal. 1-1 at half time. We came out 2nd half and took control of the game and in the 73rd minute Captain Liverpool himself, Steven Gerrard, Hit a stunning 30 yard strike past a flailing Joe Hart. But that lead lasted only 6 minutes, as a long ball into the right corner caused a mix up between Martin Skrtel and an out rushing Pepe Reina. And Sergio Aguero fried a shot right footed, from the most ridiculous of angles and it dropped in just insi ...

Borussia Dortmund are lining up a move for Man City striker Edin Dzeko

Borussia Dortmund are preparing a £25m bid for Man City hitman Edin Dzeko!
Carlos Tevez ensured Manchester City's flickering Premier League title defence stayed alive another week by scoring in a 1-0 win at relegation-threatened Aston Villa on Monday. Man City substitute Edin Dzeko dispossessed centre back Ciaran Clark in a contentious challenge in first-half stoppage time, dribbled toward the box before finding Tevez, who dummied to fool goalkeeper Brad Guzan and defender Nathan Baker before slotting the ball into the net at Villa Park. Clark complained he had been fouled by Dzeko, but referee Mike Dean ignored the protests to award the goal.

Man City planning massive clearout to make room for big money deals Manchester City are ready for a massive squad overhaul this season. The Daily Star Sunday says City will return to their big spending ways in the summer, though will adhere to UEFA's draconian financial fair play laws. They are planning to raise cash through sales and slash £50m from the wage bill. Mario Balotelli has already gone for almost £20m and the futures of Edin Dzeko, Carlos Tevez, Samir Nasri, Joleon Lescott, Micah Richards, Scott Sinclair and Maicon are all in doubt. In addition, Kolo Toure and two players out on loan – Roque Santa Cruz and Wayne Bridge – are out of contract. There could be other casualties, too. The message is loud and clear – stand by for a summer of stunning transfer activity at City.
Man City chief Txiki planning massive summer clearout Manchester City chief Txiki Begiristain is drawing up plans for a massive summer clearout. The Manchester Evening News says reports in Sunday's papers suggest big names Carlos Tevez, Samir Nasri, Joleon Lescott, Aleks Kolarov, Edin Dzeko and Scott Sinclair could be heading out of the Etihad. City's hopes of pulling off another miracle title race comeback look bleak after a poor performance in the 3-1 defeat at Southampton and new football director Begiristain could mastermind a major summer shake-up.

David Beckham is set to make his debut for PSG next weekend. Man City stay in touch after seeing off Arsenal Manchester City closed back up on Barclays Premier League leaders Manchester United with a 2-0 win at Arsenal – where both sides finished with 10 men. After United’s 2-1 win over Liverpool earlier in the day, the pressure was on Roberto Mancini’s men to deliver or potentially fall out of the title race. Referee Mike Dean sent off Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny for wrestling Edin Dzeko to the floor, and although the Bosnian’s penalty was saved, via the post, City – who last won in the league at Arsenal in 1975 – took command with first-half goals from James Milner and then a tap-in for Dzeko. The Gunners, who lost more ground on the top four, regrouped after the break, but were not able to find a way back into the game, even when City captain Vincent Kompany was sent off with 15 minutes left for a two-footed tackle on Jack Wilshere. The game burst into life in the ninth minute, when Koscielny grappled Dzeko to the floor in the six-yard box, le ...

MERSE PREDICTS.Sunday: Arsenal v Man City 3.30pm, Sun, Sky Sports 1 HD & Sky 3D I don't see Man City winning this game at all. The worst way out for Arsenal is a draw in my opinion. I say that because there's no Sergio Aguero and no Yaya Toure. Despite all the millions of pounds Man City have spent over the years and the squad they've got, those two players will be sorely, sorely missed. I watched Aguero the other week against Stoke City, who have probably got the best defence in the league. Ryan Shawcross and Robert Huth are two of the best centre-halves around and I've never seen them get a complete and utter run-around like they did that day. I can't see Carlos Tevez and Edin Dzeko giving the Arsenal defenders a run-around like that. And without Yaya Toure they won't have the strength in midfield and that means we could see a game of "passy passy" in that area - and there's nobody better at "passy passy" than Arsenal. Santi Cazorla, Mikel Arteta and Jack Wilshere are great at that. Admittedly, Arsenal ...

Moyes Wants Sinclair On Loan? Reports in the British media suggest that Man City midfielder Scott Sinclair could be on his way to Goodison Park. Sinclair, who joined the English Champions this summer from Swansea, has been restricted to just a handful of sub appearances for Roberto Mancini’s side and the club are allowing him to leave on loan in January. City have a big squad and are set to let go a host of names in the new year as Mancini clears out some of his fringe players. Joleon Lescott, Edin Dzeko and now Sinclair have all been linked with moves away from the Eithad, and Everton are thought to be interested in all three. Sinclair proved his quality whilst at Swansea City under Brendan Rodgers but many were surprised City came in for him, especially with the clust of players they have at the club. Everton boss David Moyes is open to loan deals when the January transfer window opens next Monday and reports say Sinclair could be an option for the Toffees until the end of the season. -Gelo

I consider the EPL match between Manchseter City and QPR a weird and wonderful in the world of football. Queens Park Ranger having trailed by Man City 2-1 until the 93rd of the additional time failed to stop them.instead, City made it 3-2 by the header goal of Edin Dzeko and Sergio Kun Aguero to win the game in just two minures to end!!!
What a spectacular finish to the football season.. I cannot remember one with such a smashing finish. I must declare that if I was a Man City fan I doubt whether I would of still been in the Etihad Stadium when Sergio Aguero finished QPR off. I would probabley of been walking out of the car park when Edin Dzeko got the second Man City goal.

After Joey Barton is sent off for QPR, Jamie Mackie puts the Londoners ahead against all the odds. United, now three points clear with 24 minutes of normal time remaining, dare to dream. 90 + 2 mins: Lifeline for City. Edin Dzeko levels for City but United are still leading and remain two points clear with just moments left. 90 + 5 mins: Man Utd win at Sunderland but City are still playing. Man City, Though you are not the greatest team, you deserved to be the champion of BPL, as other teams are just not as good as you. You are the drama King!!! Even better than Man Utd when they clinched their Champions League way back in 1999. In the last match of 2011/12 seanson, you manage to slam all the fans hard to the ground, bleeding, deflated. Then, you quickly inflated them again during the last 5 minutes of loss time, lifted them up again to cloud 9. Great job and thanks to Edin Dzeko and Kun Aguero! You all finally end the boring domination of Man Utd in BPL. Thank you very much!!
