GREAT FOOTBALL BUT RED DEVILS DROP POINTS AGAINST 10 VILLAINS.CITY JOIN CHELSEA ON TOP! Man Utd dominated possession but were held 1-1 at Aston Villa. (Better to win without playing well!) Christian Benteke scored a beauty after 19 minutes but Radamel Falcao starting for the first time since October 5 equalised through a brilliant header off a fabulous cross from Ashley Young. With 25 minutes remaining, Gabriel Agbonlahor was controversially and harshly sent off by referee Lee Mason for a foul on Young. Angel Di Maria was introduced but did little to change matters on the field. Earlier, noisey neighbours Man City moved to 39 points and only goal difference separates the Citizens from Chelsea after a 3-0 victory over Crystal Palace. Super David Silva struck twice while stand in skipper Yaya Toure added the cherry on the cake. Looks like the title is gone for this year unfortunately but Brendan Rodgers and the players have given us a team to be truly proud of, and it's been a long time since I've been able to say that. The club is back where it belongs in the Champions League, we have lit up the Premiership with our attacking football and have taken the title to the last day. Its been an unbelievable season and considering few people gave us a chance of 4th back in August. Congratulations to Man City, they are a credit to the league and some much needed credit to their city. I have great respect for their players Yaya Toure, Kompany, Aguero and David Silva. Absolutely no shame in losing the title to players of that quality and looking forward already to fighting for the title with them again next season. As for us, I hope the boys goes out on Sunday and beat Newcastle, take the standing ovation and lap of honor they deserve. Give Rodgers a new contract, get a few new signings on and use the experience of this season and number ...
Now my thoughts on the 3 title contenders and fight for top 4 for this season; 1) Liverpool 80 2) Chelsea 78 3) Man City 77 4) Arsenal 73 5) Everton 69 6) Tottenham 63 Going into this weekend matches, i will have to say that Man City are the favorite to win the title, tomorrow they travel to Goodison Park to take on Everton and then a midweek game against relegation threatened Aston Villa at home and finally hosting West Ham on the last day. With the return of Yaya Toure and David Silva, i think Man City will be hard to beat even at Goodison Park, where City's record had not been good, this time round i think City will come out winners and they should take all points from out of form Aston Villa and inconsistent West Ham at the Etihad and with 86 or even 84 points Man City (with their superior goal difference) should be crowned champions. Liverpool face a tricky trip to Crystal Palace and based on their performance from their last few games, the way they conceded goals to the opponents, i think Liverpo ...

Abdul Razak leaves West Ham after unsuccessful loan: Ivory Coast international Abdul Razak has left West Ham United after an unsuccessful loan from Russian Premier League side Anzhi Makhachkala. The 21-year-old midfielder began his career with Manchester City and has been capped five times by Ivory Coast but he has failed to make anny impact at Chadwell heath. In 2011 age 17 Razak was given a surprise debut for Man City first team coming on as a substitute for David Silva in the final minutes of the Premier League game against West Bromwich Albion on 5 February. His second game for the Manchester City first team was against Wigan Athletic on 10 September 2011 after he was substituted on for Yaya Touré in the 80th minute of the match.Razak has also spent time on loan at Portsmouth, Brighton and Charlton while with Manchester City and was previously part of the Crystal Palace youth setup. I hear unsubstantiated claims that Razak was regularly late for training and lacked good discipline. Razak was Sam Alla ...
If you're anything like me then you're on a rollercoaster of feelings, thoughts and emotions. I have gone from believing that we can't do it, to its our destiny to win it, to now not knowing whether we can beat Man City, let alone Chelsea. At the end of the day with 6 games to go we are top of the table and we control our destiny, and we didn't think we would be at the start of the season. Whatever happens from here we can now believe that we can compete with the best. All this talk about us not having as many games as others I don't buy into that much, it depends on your squad and players discipline. I don't think it will be harder for us next season, if anything we are now more likely to attract some great players at a reasonable price compared to a year ago. Players like Aspas, Borini, Assaidi, Coates, Jones will leave to make way for much better players. With players like Sterling breaking through and looking more like David Silva than Jermaine Pennant, world class players like Suarez staying, St ...
TOP TEN EPL PERFORMER THIS SEASON 10. David Silva (Man City) The usual level of brilliance from the pint sized Spaniard, assists aplenty and plenty more besides. Always capable of a defence splitting pass and if Man City win the title then Silva will have played a pivotal role. 9. Aaron Ramsey (Arsenal) It's no coincidence that Arsenal's Premier League title push has faded since the Welshman suffered a thigh injury that has kept him out of action since Boxing Day. The fact that he features on this list despite that length of time out says just the level of form he displayed before injury. 8. Seamus Coleman (Everton) Republic of Ireland wing-back has been in inspired form this season and his attacking forays have greatly aided Everton's efforts in the final third and he's been calm and assured at the back to boot. 7. Steven Gerrard (Liverpool) The Anfield veteran is displaying his best form in years. Goals galore, regular assists have been a feature of a season that has seen Gerrard adopt a more withdrawn ...
Flamini restore Gunners pride against Manchester City Arsenal restored some pride after a difficult week with a hard-fought 1-1 draw with Man City at the Emirates on Saturday evening. The tribulations of the Chelsea defeat and the late draw with Swansea were clearly evident in the Gunners' first half performance. They looked like a team that lacked confidence and belief, and it's fair to say that City controlled the game for the most part. Certainly, in terms of chances, the visitors were on top and although their goal had a touch of good fortune about it, Arsenal were punished again for losing the ball high up the pitch. This time Lukas Podolski was careless in possession and City's quickness of movement left Arsenal exposed at the back. Edin Dzeko's 18th minute shot cannoned back off the post and David Silva bundled it over the line. The goal affected Arsenal throughout the rest of the first half, as the weight of the previous poor results bore down on them. Unlike the game against Chelsea though, they ...
TEAM NEWS: David Silva back for Man City but Sergio Aguero misses Arsenal trip
Here my take on the season so far.. At the rate we're going i would dare say I'm very delighted the way Liverpool FC perform a top 4 in the Champions League would be a huge reward for us..WHY?? Firstly, from 7th to top 3 shows there's an improvement made, credit goes to Brendan Rodgers.. Secondly, it modern football $ talks for e.g Chelsea Man City we dun haf $ at our disposal to splash on big names such as Yaya Toure,Navas,David Silva, Kun Aguero, Eden Hazard, Oscar, Ramires, Juan Mata..In fact we haf to make do with limited budget n remember no one was brought in during the January transfer Window.. Thirdly, we haf the most number of English player in the first XI & some are merely young lads learning players like Flanno (Flanagan) & Sterling. Lastly, We might not haf top class manager like Jose Mourinho Pellegrini, Wenger but we have Brendan Rodger n Liverpool fans have faith in Brendan Rodgers..Can he emulate the late Shankly only time will tell.. nudge Mohd Ismail Im a happy Liverpool Fan.
Hart set for Man City exit as Blues close in on Barcelona goalkeeper? Manchester City are close to reaching an agreement to sign Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes in the summer, according to French newspaper L’Equipe. The highly decorated 32-year-old, who has won a string of major honours at Barca, will leave the Catalan club when his contract expires in June. And it seems as though he is edging closer to the Etihad, where he will link up with international team-mates David Silva, Jesus Navas and Alvaro Negredo. The goalkeeper will also reunite with City’s director of football Txiki Begiristain, who previously held a senior role at the Nou Camp. It was reported earlier this season that he had agreed to join Monaco, although it is claimed he can break that agreement to sign for another club if they pay a compensation fee to the Ligue 1 side. Joe Hart came under fire earlier in the season but has bounced back well and is now considered one of Manuel Pellegrini's senior squad members. But he could be on ...

10 men? No worries for Man City. David Silva's goal and assist set the pace in a 2-0 win over Hull City.
Manchester City recovered from the early sending-off of Vincent Kompany to beat Hull City 2-0 at the KC Stadium and return to winning ways after a disappointing week. Having bowed out of the FA Cup and UEFA Champions League in the past seven days, Man City's Premier League title hopes were in danger of suffering a dent when Kompany was given his marching orders after just 10 minutes. Best of the match Man of the match: Curtis Davies was excellent at the back for Hull but it has to go to the mercurial David Silva. Goal of the game: It was a belter from David Silva to open the scoring as he curled in a sublime effort from 25 yards. Save of the match: Great block from Allan McGregor, who raced off his line to smother Edin Dzeko bearing down on goal. Moment of the match: George Boyd going down in the Man City area after nicking the ball around Joe Hart, but Lee Mason said no penalty Attempt of the match: A superb volley from the edge of the area by Pablo Zabaleta that rattled the woodwork and just failed to c ...

Kevin Kilbane, at KC Stadium for BBC Radio 5 live sports extraHALF-TIME - Hull 0-1 Man City "For the first 10 minutes Hull were the better team, forcing the issue and putting Manchester City under player. But as soon as Vincent Kompany was sent off Man City stepped it up, with their big players looking to be counted. And it was a great goal from David Silva.
Half Time It's Hull 0-1 Man City at the interval. Jose Mourinho will have had a cigar on when Vincent Kompany was sent off early on, but David Silva's sumptuous strike gave 10-man City the lead, which they almost doubled when Zabaleta's effort hit the underside of the bar. Will City's toils against Barcelona wear them down in the second half? Stay tuned to find out...
UPDATE: Crazy first 30 minutes for Man City vs. Hull. They had Kompany sent off in the 10th minute for a last man foul but are now leading 1-0 thanks to David Silva's 14th minute goal. Watching the game? Thoughts on the red card? Should Kompany have been punished? (Find out where to watch, score updates HERE:
The whole rubbish that took place in last night's UEFA championship fixture b/w Barca and Man City vis a vis,the over protection of some players against others and the deliberate killing of a fly with a sledge hammer must be condemned in all entirety. The culprit in question was the controversial referee, Jonas Eriksson, who refused to acknowledge the foul on Navas, a hiccup that gave Messi undue advantage b4 he was brought down by Demichelis, JUST outside the penal box. The controversy here is, one, a penalty shouldn't have been awarded but a free kick, two, if at all, you are giving a penalty (as unjust as it was), why give Demichelis a red card? A good referee should see all players as equal irrespective of the names. David Silva was fouled several times, but the ref showed little or no interest, but when it comes to Messi, he was always licking the whistle like a sweet and dishing out cards at will. Of course, the deficit of one man led to the destabilisation of the Man City side and all the rest that ...
PREVIEW/Analysis/Discussions Man City Vs Barcelona | Etihad Stadium | 19:45hrs. Live Text Commentary to follow at 19:30hrs. Following Jose Mourihno's comments that Man City will face the worst Barca side in recent times, we take a look at the teams' chances below: Barcelona had scored 100 this season by February, the only team in Europe to have bettered that is Man City with 115 goals. Alvaro Negrodo and Sergio Aguero who will miss this game have managed 49 goals between them. Fernandinho has passed fitness test and likely to partner Yaya Toure as double pivot in a 4-2-3-1 formation that is likely to see Samir Nasri in a central role with David Silva at the left. Stevan Jotevic will likely operate in the middle of attack, Jesus Navas at the right wing and Negredo leading the attack. Barcelona is likely to deplore their favorite 4-3-3 set up for another night of passing and possession game of tiki taka. Jordi Alba will contest with Adriano at the left back position with Adriano being a favorite due to his ...
Man City Vs Fc Barcelona thought It will be an entertaining game yet a free scoring one!! Pique Vs Kompany Key components at the heart of both defenses Barca have conceded just 17 goals in the league so far this campaigne however they face a team that has scored over 117 goals this season, with City having lost just twice at home (Bayern & Chelsea), they have the extra edge of their rivals and i expect a free scoring encounter today! Toure Vs Sergio Busquets The African player of the year and City's Midfield power house will be looked up to pull the strings against a wealthy attacking Barca side.along with Javi Garcia, David Silva and Jesus Navas. on the other hand Busquets will be charged with a task of stopping the Man City inter-passages of play especially their little one-two touch passes and sublime movement. However Yaya Toure like we have witnessed this season can always charge forward with those unstoppable powerful runs upfront and shots. So I expect the two to play disciplined roles for the side ...
Man City vs Barcelona key match-ups. City and Barca full-backs loves to bomb forward. Draw here. Both defence could be partnered by 30s something. Also draw. 4 midfielders against 3 plus Yaya Toure keen to show what Barca had been missing. City win. Javi Garcia job to track Xavi, Iniesta and co. So too Busquets against David Silva, Jesus Navas or James Milner. Without Aguero is huge, but Dzeko, Jovetic and Negredo shld more than make up for the Argentine absence. Messi must be shackled. Subs, Nasri and Neymar could be pivotal also.
Man City's £600m investment is paying off - bursting their bubble is Mourinho's biggest challenge since returning to Chelsea One of the most interesting figures in Manchester City's recent accounts showed that the club has spent more than £600million on incoming transfers since the Abu Dhabi takeover of 2008. Robinho, Emmanuel Adebayor, Carlos Tevez, Craig Bellamy, Sergio Aguero, David Silva, Yaya Toure. It is an astonishing list of talent. Tonight at the Etihad Stadium is the reason City have invested so extravagantly. A Barclays Premier League game against Chelsea and Jose Mourinho. Second plays third and City have the chance to go top. Is it a shootout for the title? Not quite but it feels like it. City will be without Aguero, who is injured. But their back-up is stellar quality. Alvaro Negredo – The Beast – and Edin Dzeko will threaten Chelsea's defence. As the graphic above from WhoScored.Com shows, City's strikers are streets ahead of their Chelsea counterparts. Silva – who could choose any ...

Man City go top, West Ham frustrate Chelsea (FIFA.com) Wednesday 29 January 2014 Share Man City go top, West Ham frustrate Chelsea © Getty Images Free-scoring Manchester City swept to the English Premier League summit with a 5-1 victory at Tottenham Hotspur, but Chelsea lost momentum after being held by West Ham United. Arsenal's 2-2 draw at Southampton on Tuesday had given their two closest rivals a glimpse of top spot, but while City seized the opportunity, Chelsea were left in third place after a 0-0 draw at Stamford Bridge. City had crushed Tottenham 6-0 in the reverse fixture in November and they wasted little time asserting themselves again amid pouring rain at White Hart Lane. Having already struck the post, Sergio Aguero broke the deadlock in the 15th minute when he scuttled onto David Silva's pass and slipped a delicate shot past goalkeeper Hugo Lloris. Michael Dawson thought he had equalised in the 36th minute when he volleyed home from Christian Eriksen's fierce free-kick, only to be adjudged ...

7-0 City earned an emphatic 7-0 victory over as seven different players scored in their biggest-ever win. The hosts’ goalkeeper Costel who earned his first start of the Barclays season, had little to do as his outfield team-mates comfortably secured the points. A Bradley Johnson own goal set the ball rolling, before further first-half efforts from David Silva, Matija Nastasic and Alvaro Negredo put the hosts firmly in control. Yaya Toure, Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko added goals five, six and seven after the break as the match lived up to its goal-rich reputation, with 25 having been scored in the previous four top-flight meetings between the two sides. In addition to Pantilimon replacing Joe Hart as goalkeeper, Negredo replaced Javi Garcia in the only other alteration to the Man City side that started a 2-1 defeat at Chelsea last Sunday. Chris Hughton also made a double change to his Norwich side from last weekend’s goalless draw with Cardiff City, bringing Johnson and Steven Whittaker in for injured ...

Man City V Reading (22 December 15:00 GMT ) Champions Manchester City will be heavy favorites when they host struggling Reading on Saturday. The English champions are six points behind the table toppers but are confident to clinch three points at home against the Royals who are currently on a run of six losses. Reading are yet to win on the road this season, and have managed just one win altogether - a 2-1 victory over Everton in mid-November. So must be an easy peasy Man City win right? So we picked out Yaya Toure last week, this week we’re going for Carloz Tevez. Right now you must be thinking Tevez started last weekend with Aguero so there must be rotation this weekend? Yes the risk is there, but with Balotelli unwell for tomorrow. We’re pretty certain Tevez will start once again with Aguero. If the gamble pays off and Tevez or starts, then the rewards could be quite significant for those that have them. If you’re not the risky type go for David Silva as he looked back to form last weekend agains ...

In the footy world, what can you do with money? You can sign new players, extend contracts, and so on. Everyone does that. But then there's Man City. It all started when Mark Hughes left, and Sheikh Mansour came. They won the FA Cup, and reached the Champions League. The last time they won a cup was... umm... and the last time they finished 2nd was NEVER. Never. So it deserved a celebration. Then out goes wright-phillips. And out goes some other good loyal and young city players. In comes the first signing; Kun Aguero, 35 million. After that, comes the problems with Arsenal. Three clubs battled it out for young star Samir Nasri. Chelsea, United, and City. Chelsea gave up on him in the middle, so it was United and City. The young Arsenal maestro was about to join United, until City’s monster bid took over. IT was all over. Samir Nasri, number 19, City winger. Then came Clichy. So footy came again, in the Community Shield, FA Cup winners vs. Barclays Premier League winners. City vs United. Lescott opened t ...
