A little FYI for y'all: There has NEVER been anyone in the White House at any time who has created such an army of staffers whose sole duties are the facilitation of the First Lady’s social life. One wonders why she needs so much help, at taxpayer expense, when even Hillary, only had three; Jackie Kennedy one; Laura Bush one; and prior to Mamie Eisenhower social help came from the President’s own pocket. Yes, Yes, I know, The Canadian Free Press has to publish this because the USA media is too scared they might be considered racist. Sorry USA !

Appears to me the voting for the top 6 great first ladies was a little rigged--and was apparently asked to people who know little about history--Martha Washington was a very good First Lady--she backed her husband but in a quiet lady of the day fashion--and to back run-around George she had to be Wonderful. Mamie Eisenhower was another First Lady who was a gentle kind person whom most of Americans were very fond. Barbara and Laura Bush were Great First Ladies and not once did they embarrass the American People, Betty Ford was an outstanding First Lady and Pat Nixon suffered the most and said the least- Mrs. Carter was a very gentile lady and a true Southerner who knew what her role was as First Lady.
Who's classier, Laura Bush or Michelle Obama? I vote for Laura, but that's because Jackie Kennedy, Mamie Eisenhower, Lady Bird Johnson, Pat Nixon and of course Nancy Reagan weren't choices in the poll I found. Who's your fave First Lady?
Today is Tuesday, Jan. 21, the 21st day of 2014. There are 344 days left in the year. Today's Highlight in History: On Jan. 21, 1954, the first atomic submarine, the USS Nautilus, was launched at Groton (GRAH'-tuhn), Conn., as First Lady Mamie Eisenhower christened the vessel with the traditional bottle of champagne broken against the bow. (However, the Nautilus did not make its first nuclear-powered run until nearly a year later.) On this date: In 1648, Margaret Brent went before the Maryland colonial assembly to seek two votes in that body, one for herself as a landowner, the other as the legal representative of the absent Lord Baltimore; the assembly turned her down. In 1793, during the French Revolution, King Louis XVI, condemned for treason, was executed on the guillotine. In 1861, Jefferson Davis of Mississippi and four other Southerners whose states had seceded from the Union resigned from the U.S. Senate. In 1908, New York City's Board of Aldermen passed an ordinance prohibiting women from smoking ...

rense.com Confirmed - Obama Is Zbigniew Brzezinski Puppet Commentary By Webster Tarpley 3-21-8 Any lingering doubts about Obama's status as an abject puppet of Zbigniew Brzezinski and the Rockefeller Trilateral Commission ended this morning when the withered mummy of imperialism himself appeared on MSNBC's Morning Joe* to campaign for Obama, urged on by his own moronic daughter, Mika Brzezinski, an Obama groupie and sycophant. Zbigniew, a low-level Polish aristocrat whose life has been devoted to hatred for Russia, lauded Obama for his 2002 speech opposing the Iraq war, saying that he himself was the source of Obama's arguments back then - thus confirming Obama's long-term status as his puppet, which probably began in 1981-1983, when Obama was a student at Columbia University, and Zbig was directing the anti-Russian institute. The aging revanchist showed all the misogynism of his szachta origins with a scurrilous attack on Sen. Clinton as a mere housewife, a Mamie Eisenhower running against charismatic a ...
Think about our past First Ladies over just the past decades: Eleanor Roosevelt - Completely redefined the role of First Lady and made huge advances in civil rights. Bess Truman - Extremely private, with only one public interview Mamie Eisenhower -known to be a gracious hostess to foreign dignitaries and someone who was so fiscally responsible, she actually clipped coupons for the White House staff to use for groceries! Jackie Kennedy - Probably the individual with the most class in a social setting (even to the point of ignoring her husband's escapades). She had such charisma that even Nikita Khrushchev said that he would "like to shake her hand first" when asked to shake JFK's hand. Lady Bird Johnson - her description of impact and top First Lady was best described by Gerald Ford, a political adversary to her husband: One of America's great First Ladies, she claimed her own place in the hearts and history of the American people. In councils of power or in homes of the poor, she made government human w . ...

60% of our National budget goes to the Military for the Dept. of Defense, Veteran's Affairs, and our Nuclear Weapons programs. "Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, signifies in the final sense a THEFT from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed." A quote from Dwight D. Eisenhower. He was the last Republican president who had a lick of sense, and he sure knew what he was talking about when it came to funding our military ideology and the harm it would eventually do. Read some of his speeches and you will see a genius at work, and the thoughts of a great man who cared more about his country than any poilitical machine.

I have kept a running tab on our present administration since it took office. please take a moment to read this if you're seriously considering a vote for our current President to stay four more years in our White House: President Barack Hussein Obama is the President who has done these things: •Apply for college aid as a foreign student, then deny he was a foreigner. There is documented proof of this. •Have a social security number from a state where he has never lived. Also documented •To go on 17 lavish vacations, including date nights and Wednesday evening White House parties for his friends paid for by the taxpayer. •To preside over a cut to the credit-rating of the United States of America. No, it wasn’t Bush’s fault. •To have 22 personal servants at taxpayer expense for his wife. To see why this is an issue, consider that it is unprecendented by former first ladies. Here's what that hump Brit Hume had to say about Ann Romney's speech: "“I think that was the single most effective political speech I’ve ever heard given by a political wife. I think a lot of women would look at her — particularly mothers, married women — and find her utterly admirable and utterly credible.” Apparently Hump, er, Hume has never heard Michelle Obama speak. Or Hilary Clinton. Or Eleanor Roosevelt. Or even Lady Bird Johnson. Maybe he meant the single most effective speech by a Republican wife. No, that can't be right, because that means he was ignoring Pat Nixon, Mamie Eisenhower, and Barbara Bush. Mamie gave some real barn-burners back in the day.
On Juan Williams remark... Would Ann Romney be the 1st First Lady since Mamie Eisenhower to have never worked a job?
Romney has chosen a Proverbs 31 wife...Hopefully she'll join other famous First Ladies in the White House: Eleanor Roosevelt, Bess Truman, Mamie Eisenhower, Jackie Kennedy, Barbara & Laura Bush...Women that have stood by their men and stood for other causes.
Hard 2 picture Pat Nixon or Mamie Eisenhower/otherGOP wives making a speech like 2nite's. Was it progress or a lecture from Mad Men? Dunno.
Okay, just looked on line at some pictures of Ann Romney. She doesn't look like she did on camera! She looks like a real person, one I could relate to not a plasticized Stepford wife like they made her look for her speech. What makes them think that this is what we expect a 63 year old woman to look like? Honestly, I really miss Mamie Eisenhower and Bess Truman and especially Eleanore Roosevelt!
I think and are this generation's Dwight & Mamie Eisenhower.
There is a case for either giving First Lady formal policy role or scaling back her job on Bess Truman, Mamie Eisenhower model.
Got a haircut today new stylist. after a long look in the mirror, I have decided I am a cross between my Mother, Barbara Bush .. and Mamie Eisenhower
Still can't manage to Attach a Word file. I am one click away from wearing a digital Squatch that goes 12:00 12:00 12:00. . . . Speaking of which: Cousin Joanne and I, a while back, tried setting up a TV via Local Antenna [there's a tower in some swamp precisely 23.6 miles from south Leesburg] --- and what do we get but Jesus This and Jesus That. And --- wow! --- who is it but none other than Jimmy Swaggart! [I'm still a bit bummed by the fact I recognised his voice.] . . . I will continue trying to Attach a Word file to this. Meantime, like Mamie Eisenhower, I'm STILL NOT DEAD YET.
Back to Fort Dodge after a busy day. Headed out at 9:00 and went to drive by the birth home of Mamie Eisenhower, shopped And had lunch at Van Hemerts Dutch Oven Bakery in Boone, Iowa. Thanks to Terri for reserving our table and taking such good care of us. We ended up adding some Dutch Letters and other pastries to our purchase. Then off for a train ride aboard the Boone and Scenic Railroad. We went across the 156 foot tall Bass Point Creek High Bridge and that was a thrill especially for Bobbie (pictures to follow)! We then went to Story City and enjoyed a ride on the antique carousel. What fun that was! A trip to the swinging bridge and supper at Pizza Ranch followed. We are now ready for some dice and card paying and some much needed rest. Off early again tomorrow. PS - Gary you were right - driving the 16 passenger van is a breeze. I haven't run into anything.yet:)
Read this and thought of you and that pink bathroom
On this day in history... On August 3, 1958, the U.S. nuclear submarine Nautilus accomplishes the first undersea voyage to the geographic North Pole. The world's first nuclear submarine, the Nautilus dived at Point Barrow, Alaska, and traveled nearly 1,000 miles under the Arctic ice cap to reach the top of the world. It then steamed on to Iceland, pioneering a new and shorter route from the Pacific to the Atlantic and Europe. The USS Nautilus was constructed under the direction of U.S. Navy Captain Hyman G. Rickover, a brilliant Russian-born engineer who joined the U.S. atomic program in 1946. In 1947, he was put in charge of the navy's nuclear-propulsion program and began work on an atomic submarine. Regarded as a fanatic by his detractors, Rickover succeeded in developing and delivering the world's first nuclear submarine years ahead of schedule. In 1952, the Nautilus' keel was laid by President Harry S. Truman, and on January 21, 1954, First Lady Mamie Eisenhower broke a bottle of champagne across its ...
.in SO many ways, Sally Ride can be seen as having broken the glass ceiling between Main Street and Pennsylvania Avenue; while women such as Mamie Eisenhower and Eleanor Roosevelt were very active, public First Ladies, Sally Ride's accomplishments paved the way for Geraldine Ferraro to run much more strongly with Walter Mondale.R.I.P, space cowgirl:(
Listening to me read is an experience: w/ my deafness, my voice does a Mamie Eisenhower with no volume control. So I'm told.
1959: U.S. - the 1st nuclear powered merchant ship, NS Savannah, was christened by 1st lady Mamie Eisenhower at Camden, NJ.
