ZIMBABWEAN winger and former Chicken Inn and Highlanders player Kudakwashe Mahachi will remain with Mamelodi Sundowns this season after French giants Monaco told his South African side that he was good but too expensive for them. Mahachi impressed on a recent trial with Radamel Falcao’s employers but the clubs could not agree on a transfer fee, a well-placed source told kickoff. It is claimed that Sundown’s valuation of the player was not what Monaco expected for a player they believe still needed to be polished to become complete player. “The boy did well and Monaco was very impressed during his trials. However, both teams could not agree on terms regarding the transfer fee,” says the source. Mahachi is back at Chloorkop in South Africa as he seeks to win the favour of Coach Pitso Mosimane. He has been handed jersey number 43 and was on the bench last night as Sundowns lost 1-0 to Ajax Cape Town. Nigeria international Ejike Uzoenyi formalised his switch to Mamelodi Sundowns on Wednesday by appending his signature to a four year contract. It should be noted that the Transfer Window in South Africa is shut, therefore, the deal will start running this summer. The signing ceremony, held at Royal Garden Hotel, Enugu had in attendance two representatives of the Brazilians and the agent of the Enugu Rangers ace. Enugu Rangers General Manager, Paul Chibuzor has flatly denied reports that the exciting winger, who displayed his wares at the African Nations Championship, is on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns. But this portal can exclusively reveal that the South African Premier Soccer League campaigners have been crediting Ejike Uzoenyi’s bank account with his wages since February when he reached an agreement in principle with the club. On top of that,to lure the 26 year old to Pretoria, it is confirmed that Mamelodi Sundowns paid the CHAN Eagles star 150,000 Euros sign – on bonus. Apart from being on the .. ...
One last chance for us – Jele 10 Apr 2014 HAPPY JELE described the match against Mamelodi Sundowns on the weekend as the teams’ last chance to salvage their season. Jele was speaking at a Press conference this afternoon at the Premier Soccer League offices, ahead of the Nedbank Cup Quarter Final tussle with Sundowns on Saturday evening. He explained to a group of journalists at the packed PSL auditorium that Orlando Pirates will face Saturday’s clash at Loftus Stadium like a Cup final, as they intend to reach their fourth consecutive final in the current campaign. “We lost three finals already and this is the last chance for us to win something. It has been hard but we put ourselves in this situation; we cannot complain. "We won trebles and had to represent South Africa in the Champions League – we knew it would be hard and unfortunately from that competition, we have not had a great run in our domestic league. “But that is in the past. We have Sundowns to focus on… we have to win the game a ...
Zwane stoked at first call-up Midfielder Themba Zwane got a first call-up when South Africa named a squad Tuesday for friendlies in Australia and New Zealand. Bafana Bafana coach Gorden Igesund chose 18 players for matches against the Socceroos on May 26 in Sydney and the All Whites on May 30 in Auckland. Zwane is on loan to Mpumalanga Black Aces from fellow PSL club Mamelodi Sundowns and has received rave reviews from Aces and former national coach Clive Barker. "Themba is the best footballer I have coached," said the 1996 Africa Cup of Nations-winning coach. "He is an exceptional talent, should be a national-squad regular, and I rate him above even Doctor Khumalo and Shoes Moshoeu." Wide midfielders Khumalo and Moshoeu were key cogs in the triumphant Cup of Nations side. Johannesburg-born Zwane, 24, said calls by Barker for him to be included in the Bafana squad had been a major motivation. "It was wonderful hearing a legend like Clive praising me. "The call-up presents a great opportunity and I must ma ...

'VV' was appointed on February 14, and has already missed two League matches against Polokwane City and Ajax Cape Town, as well as the Nedbank Cup match against Thanda Royal Zulu. KickOff.com understands that the Serb is also in danger of missing the weekend’s match at home to Free State Stars while the issues get resolved. Due to the fact that there is no Serbian embassy in South Africa, 'VV' has been doing his application from Greece and the process is taking longer than expected.
18 foreigners at Sundowns. Mamelodi Sundowns have a grand total of 18 foreigners on their books, and next season will have difficulties in terms of allocating their five spots for players from abroad. But seven of the 18 hold permanent South African residency, and that includes club captain Alje Schut and Glenn Verbauwhede, who both qualified through the controversial financial independence loophole. Of the five foreigners farmed out on loan, only Denis Onyango holds local residency. And if they are recalled, Sundowns will have to release some players to meet the PSL quota for imports. KickOff.com looks at Downs' foreigners and their residency status. Kennedy Mweene The Zambia international joined Sundowns at the beginning of the season from Free State Stars. I Prefer Europe – Uzoenyi Rangers International of Enugu winger, Chrisantus Ejike Uzoenyi has opened up on his targets in the transfer market, with a confession that he felt no qualms about missing out on a deal in South Africa, as his sight is on playing in Europe instead. Although the 2014 Championship of African Nations (CHAN) most valuable player acknowledged that his initial stint in Europe, with Stade Rennes of France ended abruptly because he was not able to cope with the cold weather, he admits it would still be better for him to seek a return rather than opt for time in South Africa. Online media reports indicate that seven South Africa clubs are eager to sign the former Heartland of Owerri and Gateway United of Abeokuta fleet-footed star, with Orlando Pirates, Supersport United and Mamelodi Sundowns leading the way. Zimbabwe star Kuda Mahachi says he hopes to seal a move to the Premier Soccer League after impressing during the ongoing CHAN tournament. The Warriors star's man-of-the-match display against Mali helped Ian Gorowa's men progress to the semi-finals, and his form has attracted admiring glances from clubs both at home and in South Africa. The playmaker spent time on trial at Mamelodi Sundowns prior to the tournament and a move could still be on the cards, while Mahachi also admitted that he is certainly open to using a possible PSL move as the "first step" to his ultimate goal of playing in Europe. For now I don't know anything, but I am hoping to come and play in South Africa's PSL. My manager is sorting all of this out and my focus now is on the field," he said. "I do want to come to South Africa and express myself in the PSL. If the chance comes to move to the PSL and then get a chance to go to Europe I will take it. "But moving to the PSL is my first step."

The Midweek Sun BOTSWANA STAR PLAYERS AT IT AGAIN Remember how Joel Mogorosi and Boitumelo Mafoko absconded from South Africa's Orlando Pirates to come back to Botswana when the club had registered them? Now it is Jerome Ramatlhakwane, Dirang Moloi and Phenyo Mongala who have disappeared from DRC's Don Bosco, a club that signed them from Mochudi Centre Chiefs. The players' whereabouts are unknown at their club that is engaged in a Diamond Challenge against Power Dynamos, Zesco United and Mamelodi Sundowns in Zambia. The players, much like Mogorosi and Mafoko then, say they want a speedy return to their home country as they are not happy at their club. Among their discomforts is their safety in what has been known as a war country, as well as their g ...
Five Bafana starlets to watch By John Goliath Cape Town – Bafana Bafana coach Gordon Igesund has made no bones about the fact that they want to lift the African Nations Championship trophy on February 1. Here, we take a look at five starlets who can help South Africa overcome the rest of Africa over the next three weeks. Buhle Mkhwanazi (University of Pretoria, defender) The Tuks defender showed a lot of maturity at the heart of the Bafana defence during the Cosafa Cup in Zambia in his first outing in international football. Mkhwanazi is a centre back with a little bit of smarts, and has the necessary anticipation to play either a man-marking role or as a sweeper. Despite his size, Mkhwanazi is also very good in the air and isn’t scared to challenge opposition strikers at corners or free kicks. The former Mamelodi Sundowns development player will celebrate his 24th birthday on the day of the Chan final, and hopefully he will be blowing out the candles with the tournament trophy next to the cake. Hlomp ...

"We know where we are in Zambia with the history of Zambia on the Copperbelt and what the Copperbelt has done for Zambian football. We dont have to look far - the president the Zambia Football Association (Kalusha Bwalya) is from here, Mosimane said. 32 of the 51 Zambian league titles have been won by Copperbelt teams led by Nkana on 12 followed by Kalusha's ex club Mufulira Wanderers with nine while Power have won the crown six times. SOUTH African Premier Soccer League outfit Mamelodi Sundowns are close to sealing a deal for Warriors winger Kudakwashe Mahachi and will immediately loan him to Dynamos. BUT DEMBARE WANT A YEAR NOT ,SIX MONTHS If the deal materialises as is widely expected, Dynamos will have arguably the best squad in the local league having already completed the signing of former Highlanders star Masimba Mambare, former Monomotapa midfielder Ronald Chitiyo, Themba Ndlovu and Tafadzwa Rusike. Already, they have two other returnees from South Africa in Simba Sithole and Oscar Machapa. Dynamos are building a squad for the Orange Caf Champions League, a competition in which they have been faring dismally under Head Coach Kalisto Pasuwa’s tenure. Newsday

Kaizer Chiefs have announced their interest in Mamelodi Sundowns striker, Katlego Mphela.
Gordon Igesund expects to have players from Kaizer Chiefs in his South Africa camp on Sunday. Chiefs have been reluctant to release goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune, defenders Tsepo Masilela and Tefu Mashamaite, midfielder Siphiwe Tshabalala and striker Bernard Parker until the knockout stages after their January 23 meeting with Mamelodi Sundowns. But after a series of meetings between the SAFA, the PSL and Chiefs, the latest on Saturday, Igesund says he expects the AmaKhosi players to be released. “The talks have been very positive, later on today I will hear the full status but the Chiefs players will hopefully be arriving on Sunday, I expect them to be here,” Igesund said at a press conference on Saturday. “I want to offer my thanks to Chiefs and [owner] Kaizer Motaung in particular for assisting in this regard.” Igesund has a full compliment of players from the rest of the team in camp, bar Bidvest Wits goalkeeper Moeneeb Josephs who is in Cape Town, but the Bafana technical team have not been able ...

Amakhosi previously stated they will only offer the services of South Africa captain Itumeleng Khune, Tsepo Masilela, Siphiwe Tshabalala, Bernard Parker and Tefu Mashamaite after their top-of-the-table clash with Mamelodi Sundowns on January 23. PROBLEM FOR DEMBARE? By Robson Sharuko There has been so much noise in South Africa generated by Kaizer Chiefs over the releasing of their players to the Bafana Bafana team for the CHAN finals. The Amakhosi feel that they need to retain their players and release them to the CHAN team only after they play their crucial league match against Mamelodi Sundowns on January 23. Now, the Glamour Boys of Zimbabwe provide seven players — George Chigova, Oscar Machapa, Augustine Mbara, Themba Ndlovu, Partson Jaure, Tawanda Muparati and Simba Sithole — in the 22- man Warriors CHAN squad that will compete in South Africa. They also provide their coach Callisto Pasuwa, who is the Gorowa’s assistant in the Warriors’ technical team. Unlike Chiefs, they have no power to hold on to any of their players and, if the Warriors go all the way to the final, there is a possibility that Pasuwa will only train his Champions League team for just a few days before they plunge into their first match. That isn’t their biggest ...
Chiefs add to Chan confusion Fri, 03 Jan | 10:46 Kaizer Chiefs have added to the on-going confusion about the make up of South Africa’s squad for the upcoming African Nations Championship by declaring on Thursday their players would not be available for the first two weeks of the tournament. A lengthy interview with the club’s Football Manager Bobby Motaung on the club’s website now claims Chiefs will only release their players to compete for South Africa after Chiefs have played Mamelodi Sundowns in a top of the table Absa Premiership clash at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria on January 23. “We have expressed our commitment to support the National Team and hence we have written a letter to SAFA indicating that we will release the players to the National Team after our game against Mamelodi Sundowns taking place on 23rd January 2014,” said Motaung. “This we suggested after considering all factors and agreements between SAFA and the PSL, as well as the discussions that took place between the Club Ch ...

Swallows Mbekeli happy to wear Bafana jersey Published: Sunday, 2013/12/29 ASAVELA Mbekile is excited to have finally realised his ambition of donning the Bafana Bafana jersey. The Moroka Swallows midfielder could not believe it when he received a late call-up from coach Gordon Igesund ahead of the 2014 CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN). South Africa open the tournament with a date against Mozambique in Cape Town on 11 January. Mbekile replaced Kaizer Chiefs star Reneilwe Letsholonyane who sustained an ankle injury that ruled him out of action for four to six weeks. “I am happy to have made the squad. The news were like a Christmas present for me as I got a call-up on 24th December. My mum cried with joy when I broke the good news to my family. I was surprised, but I knew it will happen considering the withdrawal of Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns players from the team.” However, the 27 year-old is aware he will need to double his efforts to cement his place in the team ahead of se ...

Pretoria - Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane called his team the "Manchester United of South Africa" after they became the third league leaders within four days on Wednesday. Former national coach Mosimane was upbeat despite an unimpressive 2-1 home win over Free State Stars in a Premiership game that came to life only in the second half. "We displayed the character that has made Manchester United such a force in English football," proud Mosimane said at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria. "My team never loses hope. It would have been easier for them to sit back and settle for a draw with five minutes left.
KHAMA, KHAMA AND MORE Khama Billiat IT’S all about Khama Billiat in South Africa these days. And he’s worth every million Mamelodi Sundowns paid for the Zimbabwean football star from Ajax Cape Town and he has started repaying the Brazilians. On Sunday, he scored twice in Sundowns’ 4-0 mauling of Bloemfontein Celtic in the first round of the Telkom Knockout, the second being an assist from fellow countryman Cuthbert Malajila, who played 74 minutes of the match. There is still no place for veteran holding midfielder Esrom Nyandoro, who has just returned from injury, on the Sundowns bench. There was no place either for Rodreck Mutuma in the Celtic line up. And the 3-0 loss marked the end of Clinton Larsen as Head Coach of Celtic, meaning Mutuma will now have to work extra hard to impress the next man in charge, likely Manqoba Mngqithi, who also quit Golden Arrows. For now, Celtic assistant coach Boebie Solomons will take over in a caretaker capacity. Knowledge Musona was also on target, scoring the th ...

Which team do you think is the best in South Africa?? a)Orlando Pirates b)Kaizer Chiefs c)Mamelodi Sundowns d)Platinu Stars
ZIFA will demand a full explanation from the Warriors' management team over the use of jersey number 13 during the team's International Friendly match against neighbours South Africa which Zimbabwe won 2-1. Warriors and Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Khama Billiat wore jersey number 13 in the match played at Orlando Stadium on Tuesday evening. It is believed that the team found itself in a fix after carrying 18 jerseys for 19 players and that efforts to erase the three on the number had failed prompting Billiat to don the top. Zifa have since promised to demand a full report from the team management after which they too will issue a full public statement about the embarrassing situation which has turned emotional to some soccer fans.Jersey number 13 was worn by the late legendary Adam Ndlovu in the National Team. Ndlovu died in a tragic car accident a few kilometres before the resort town of Victoria Falls on 16 December last year as they were on their way to a friendly match together with his younger broth ...
PRIDE AT STAKE - MALAJILA Malajila, speaking after the Warriors held their training session at the match venue last night, revealed that coach Ian Gorowa would have little trouble motivating the players as everyone was already geared up for the match. “There is a strong rivalry between Zimbabwe and South Africa and it is known among the players, the supporters and everyone who follows matches between our two countries. “If there is one team that we as the Warriors would never want to lose to then it is Bafana Bafana, especially for all the players who are based here in South Africa. “If we were to lose to Bafana Bafana, it would be unbearable at our club training sessions so we want to retain the bragging rights and that means we have to fight throughout the game. We just have to play to win this one,’’ Malajila said. The new Mamelodi Sundowns man also predicted a close affair when the two sides square off tonight. “We know their strong points and their weak points and we just have to try and ...

COURTESY: Ernest Makhaya(Goal.com) Sundowns are believed to have lined-up a whopping $800, 000 offer for the Hearts of Oak striker who finished the season as the leading goal scorer Mamelodi Sundowns might have signed close to 11 new players during the current Transfer Window period, but it seems like they are not done as yet. The Tshwane giants have reportedly approached Hearts of Oak for the services of their star striker Mahatma Otoo. Otoo is also wanted by Congolese giants TP Mazembe, who reportedly have to beat Sundowns’ R7 million ($800, 000) bid for the player. ZIMBABWE international forward Khama Billiat spoke of his excitement yesterday as he got another big chance to break into Europe after being offered a trial stint at top Russian outfit Lokomotiv Moscow. Billiat was last night expected to fly out from Cape Town to Slovenia to join the Russian giants for their pre-season training camp. The Ajax Cape Town hotshot has been in demand in the off-season, with Absa Premiership giants Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns heavily linked with a move for his signature. Such has been the huge interest on Billiat’s services that his club had even put a R10 million price tag on him, about a US$1 million at the time they made the valuation, to ensure only serious contenders put in their bid for the winger. Although such a figure would scare away potential suitors in South Africa, it is small change when it comes to European clubs and, in the event that Billiat passes his trials, he could go for about three or four times what Ajax Cape Town had put on his head for a do ...

Former Zimbabwe international Ian Gorowa’s name has become the latest to be added to the long list for the vacant Platinum Stars Head Coach job. Already several CVs from within the border and abroad have been piling up for the job at the Phokeng headquarters. Ian Palmer and Neil Tovey headline the list of local coaches being considered in the race to find the man to take over from Cavin Johnson. Gorowa is currently without a club after being elbowed out of the assistant coaching job at Ajax Cape Town in April when Muhsin Ertugral took over. The 41-year-old has lengthy coaching experience in South Africa, having started out as a development coach at Ajax in 2002 before moving on to the senior team two years later. He has also coached at Moroka Swallows and Mamelodi Sundowns, where he also held several other posts within the club. Word reaching KickOff.com is that if Stars don’t keep Allan Freese – who served as assistant to Johnson – the club intends appointing someone who has previously coached in ...

Mamelodi Sundowns are set to conclude a deal with Dove Wome, with a view of adding the midfielder to their roster. Soccer-Laduma revealed earlier in the year that the Brazilians had targeted the Togolese international, wanting to bring him to Chloorkop. Wome’s agent, Antoine Figali, has now confirmed with the Siya crew that he has travelled from Ghana to conclude the player’s move to Sundowns. “I’m in South Africa with the player. He hasn’t signed yet like I told you the last time. The deal is not official yet,” said Figali. The Siya crew reported last week that Figali was waiting on Sundowns to approach him, before concluding a deal with the player, although it has been reported in the media that Wome has already signed for the club. Wome confirmed that he is waiting on the results from his medical, before signing with the Pitso Mosimane-coached outfit.
Dove Wome is likely to complete a move from Free State Stars to Mamelodi Sundowns as he will arrive South Africa today.
Mamelodi Sundowns have opened negotiations for two Free State Stars players but the deal is still some way from being finalised, officials said on Thursday. “We have granted Sundowns permission to talk to them. It is obvious that they must agree personal terms otherwise there is no point in the clubs settling on the transfer deal,” according to Stars’ general manager Rantsi Mokoena. “As far as we know, Sundowns are still talking to them and when that is done then we’ll sit down and hammer out a deal.” Mokoena said his club were comfortable in letting their captain and goalkeeper Mweene go after eight seasons and more than 200 games for the club. “He has gone well for us and it is probably now the right time we both have a change.” Wome has spent two seasons at Stars and is now an established international with Togo, having scored at the African Nations Cup finals that South Africa hosted earlier this year. Stars have also let go defenders Jesse Jackson and Tsietsi Mkhwanazi and the Zimbabw ...
Mamelodi Sundowns are the Champions of the Transfer Window in South Africa!
Mamelodi Sundowns could become a ‘foreign heaven’ in the new season as they face up to a complex challenge of balancing out the number of players not eligible to play for South Africa. That number has already ballooned to a dozen according to the list of players that have been confirmed to be having contracts at the club. As it stands, Sundowns still have contracts with all five players that made up their foreign quota last season – the Ghana duo of Mumuni Abubakar and Emmanuel Baffour, along with the Zimbabwean pair of Nyasha Mushekwi and Method Mwanjali, as well as Mozambican winger Elias Pelembe. Also still on their books are Ugandan goalkeeper Denis Onyango, Dutchman Alje Schut, long- serving Zimbabwean Esrom Nyandoro and Liberian striker Anthony Laffor – all of whom are registered as non-foreigners after attaining South African permanent residence. With permanent residence a player is registered as non-foreigner, but continues to play for his country of birth. Added to that list of nine are t ...

Pitso: Downs deserve some blame Pitso Mosimane has hinted that Mamelodi Sundowns have played as big a role as any in hiking the transfer prices in South African soccer. The Brazilians, backed by president Patrice Motsepe’s billions, have often been accused of paying over the top prices to secure a target – a player who then often just winds up sitting on the bench on or in the stands. And it’s not only the transfer fees – Downs also offer among the biggest salaries on offer, with Elias Pelembe and Katlego Mphela reportedly just two of the players making a killing at Chloorkop. The Brazilians are also allegedly preparing to sign a cheque worth R3million for Zimbabwean striker Cuthbert Malajila, while Aubrey Ngoma is also expected to join from Orlando Pirates. Mosimane says his club should carry some of the blame for skewing the transfer market. “The transfer market in South Africa at this point in time is really crazy,” he says. “If you look at what is happening in Europe and look at what we ...

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane was pleased with the performance of his side after they held league leaders Kaizer Chiefs to a 0-0 draw on Tuesday.

It was recently reported by the Siya crew that the player was on the brink of agreeing to a New Deal with the club and new information has revealed that the final details should be sorted on their return to Mzansi. The 30-year-old will see his current deal at Chloorkop come to an end in June and can technically sign for any other club at this present moment on a pre-contract, however it is believed that he is keen to remain at Downs and will wait for a New Deal. Chiefs Want Downs Game Postponed Current PSL leaders, Kaizer Chiefs, have contacted the PSL in an attempt to have their Absa Premiership clash against Mamelodi Sundowns on February 12 postponed. Chiefs have seven of their First Team players included in Gordon Igesund’s Bafana Bafana squad for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, and face Sundowns just two days after the tournament comes to an end. A high-ranking source at Naturena confirmed to the Siya crew that steps have been taken with regards to postponing the game and that the club are hoping that common sense will prevail. The Amakhosi have more players in the Bafana side than any other team, yet have still been given their first league game so soon after the tournament ends, meaning that if South Africa do have a good tournament then they’re players will hardly get any form of break. It seems that a letter has been sent to the PSL requesting the game's postponement, however it is thought that if it is agreed to, it will only happen if Bafana reach t ...
Khenyeza, Grobler Swap Deal Concluded As predicted by the Siya crew, Mabhuti Khenyeza has returned to Ajax Cape Town in a swap deal involving Bradley Grobler. Khenyeza, who has seen little game-time at Supersport United this season, impressed for the Urban Warriors in the 2008/09 season. However, the 30-year-old suffered a fall-out with then-coach Muhsin Ertugral, prompting a move to Mamelodi Sundowns, before he switched alliances to United a year ago. Fellow striker Grobler failed to establish himself in the Cape after returning from a spell in Turkey in June 2012. The former Platinum Stars man, capped twice for South Africa, will hope to rejuvenate his career at Matsatsantsa. -SoccerLaduma

South Africa: Year 2012 in review The year 2012 saw Pirates wrap up their fourth PSL title, completing a second treble in two years after winning the Telkom Knockout and the MTN8 in a glittering season for the Buccaneers. Jomo Cosmos and Santos could not escape the drop into the NFD with Pretoria University and Chippa United securing spots in the PSL for the 2012-13 season. Siyabonga Nomvethe carried most of the accolades in 2012 after his superb 20 goal haul for Moroka Swallow, which saw Gordon Igesund's side finish only two points behind Orlando Pirates. Supersport United captured the Nedbank Cup but lost their second final of the year against MTN8 champions Moroka Swallows. The first half of the 2012-13 season has seen the rise of Kaizer Chiefs and the fall of Mamelodi Sundowns. BANYANA BANYANA TOO HOT TO HANDLE South Africa's women finished off a highly successful 2012 football campaign by beating Botswana 3-0 in an International Friendly played at the Moruleng Stadium near Rustenburg on Monday. The SA national senior women's team were 2-0 up at halftime, in a match staged to mark the North West government's campaign to raise awareness against the abuse of women and children. Mamelodi Sundowns striker Andiswe Mgcoyi opened the scoring from a tight angle on the left hand side of the Botswana penalty area in the 11th minute. Mgcoyi's club-mate, midfielder Refiloe Jane, celebrated her 17th national cap by scoring her first goal for Banyana Banyana, by way of a header from a corner-kick in the 22nd minute. Second half substitute, striker Noko Matlou, made her presence felt scoring from close range 15 minutes into the second half. SA national coach Joseph Mkhonza used the match played in hot conditions, to give as many players as much game time as possible with midfielders in Presoci ...
Joel Mogorosi's name should send chills down Punch Masenamela's spine, after the Bloemfontein Celtic winger tormented the Mamelodi Sundowns man in national colours earlier this year. Mogorosi gave Masenamela a torrid time in a 2014 World Cup qualifier between South Africa and Botswana in Gaborone in June, proving to be too hot for the left-back to handle, and the two will meet again in the Telkom Knockout Final on Saturday. The Zebras midfielder is enjoying his best form in Celtic colours this season, and was the chief architect behind the club's victory against Orlando Pirates in the TKO quarter-final. Mogorosi is looking forward to his first cup final appearance since moving to South Africa, and says he is not thinking about past battles. "It's not about Punch Masenamela but Mamelodi Sundowns," Mogorosi insists. "This is a different level, club level, and I want to go out there on Saturday to do the best for Bloemfontein Celtic." Photo by: Anesh Debiky Johannesburg – Gordon Igesund is pinning his hopes on the recovery from injury of several players, as he fights to resolve Bafana Bafana’s scoring woes in time for next year’s African Nations Cup. Bafana have scored in just two of the five matches played under Igesund – against a very weak Mozambique and lowly-ranked Kenya – with Wednesday’s 1-0 loss to Zambia condemning South Africa to a third defeat since the coach took over in July. Of course, Bafana’s poor scoring form is well-documented but it has now been exacerbated by the absence of Katlego Mphela, who has yet to return to official action following an injury that required surgery in the winter. Mphela was for a period of two years Bafana’s go-to man for goals, and Igesu ...

Viera Set For Bucs 28 August 2012 Lehlohonlo Masalesa Former Wits midfielder, Lehlohonlo ‘Viera’ Masalesa, is on the verge of signing with treble-winning champions, Orlando Pirates. Pirates management have confirmed to the Siya crew that they are currently in serious talks with the holding midfielder and that a deal could happen shortly. The player’s agent, Ralph Nkomo, recently told the crew that there had been interest in the 20-year-old from German side, Greuther Furth, who are currently hoping to sign Nyasha Mushekwi from Mamelodi Sundowns. However, the deal with Bucs has been agreed between Viera’s South African representatives and it is they who have aided him in his possible move to Mayfair. Viera, who has represented South Africa at both under-17 and under-23 level, is thought to have favoured a move to Kaizer Chiefs, although it appears that it is Augusto Palacios and not Stuart Baxter who will have him at his disposal this season. It remains to be seen how much game time the talented mid ...
