We have learnt that SuperSport have already been approached by two big clubs, one of which is Pirates, for the services of Williams, who despite still being 22 is already into his fifth season in the PSL. Kaizer Chiefs claimed derby joy over the weekend to further strengthen their Absa Premiership grip following the latest round of games, while in-form Polokwane City rose into the top eight with another win. There were also victories for Mamelodi Sundowns, Bidvest Wits, Mpumalanga Black Aces and Platinum Stars as the league closed in on the halfway point of 2014/15. Amakhosi, though, were the biggest winners after earning the Soweto bragging rights with a 2-0 triumph over Orlando Pirates at FNB Stadium on Saturday. Siphiwe Tshabalala scored after 51 minutes and Siphelele Mthembu added a stoppage-time second as Start Baxter's men moved to 36 points, a massive 13 clear at the summit, after 14 games played. The Buccaneers, whose build-up to the clash was rocked by the resignation of Vladamir Vermezovic as coach, dropped to ninth as a result. Defending champions Sundowns are the new second-placed side following their 2-0 triumph over relegation strugglers Free State Stars in Atteridgeville. Cuthbert Malajila ( ...

BAFANA Bafana’s trip to Australasia has turned into a circus! Earlier this week Bafana coach Gordon Igesund had 11 withdrawals and yesterday Mamelodi Sundowns star Teko Modise also snubbed his last-minute call-up. Bafana play Australia on Monday in Sydney and New Zealand next Friday in Auckland. It gets worse: Orlando Pirates striker Kermit Erasmus and Sthembiso Ngcobo of Bidvest Wits, who were replacements for the injured Bernard Parker, turned down the call-up because they are on holiday. Igesund had no other option but to go with fourth choice, Siphelele Mthembu of Platinum Stars, who had an average season, having scored five league goals. Kaizer Chiefs’ veteran midfielder, Reneilwe Letsholonyane, replaces Modise, who cited fatigue as he turned down the call-up. Wits midfielder Siyabonga Nhlapo is in for Oupa Manyisa, while Supersport United left-back Sibusiso Khumalo replaces Thabo Matlaba. IT’S now win at all cost for Kaizer Chiefs! This is the attitude ahead of their crunch Absa Premiership showdown against struggling Free State Stars at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane tomorrow night (7.30pm). Chiefs, with three matches to play, have 56 points - five behind leaders, Mamelodi Sundowns, who have two matches remaining. Chiefs head coach Stuart Baxter believes it’s a win or bust game. “This is the big one as far as we are concerned,” Baxter told SunSport. “If we lose we can virtually kiss the title goodbye.” Amakhosi can now focus all their energies on retaining their league and Nedbank Cup titles after they were knocked out of the Caf Confederation Cup at the weekend, losing 1-0 in their play-off round, second leg tie to Asec Mimosas in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. They lost 3-1 on aggregate. Amakhosi play Bidvest Wits in the cup semifinal at Milpark on Saturday. Kaizer Chiefs will be looking to close the gap between themselves and Mamelodi Sundowns at the top of the Absa Premiership when they lock horns with Bidvest Wits in a league match at Bidvest Stadium on Wednesday night.
CHIEFS’ TRICKY ASSIGNMENT! Published: Wednesday, 2014/04/23 STAND up and be counted! Baxter said their four remaining Premiership matches - starting with the showdown against third-placed Wits - will all be cup finals. Said Baxter: “We have four cup finals to play. Every game will be vital. We have to be prepared for some tough battles. I have told the players we can expect no favours.” Mamelodi Sundowns head the standings with 61 points with two games to play, followed by Chiefs on 55 and Wits on 51. Both Amakhosi and the Students have two matches in hand. Gordon blunders again: Keet deserves it more than Meyiwa Writes Sandani Muremela Losing the injured first choice goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune, ahead of the highly rated international friendly between Bafana Bafana and Samba Boys of Brazil, is a big blow. The out-of-form Orlando Pirates Senzo Meyiwa replaced our national team captain, which is good for the country as we need to expose our players to this high level of football - but it made me realise how discouraging it is each time Gordon Igesund selects his squad. Some players knows that they own their positions in the national team, even if their performances at club level are below their usual best. I stand to oppose Bafana Bafana's team selectors' decision to call up Senzo - who only regained his form in the past two games, keeping his clean sheet against Mamelodi Sundowns and Free State Stars - ahead of Dareen Kleet. It is a blunder, Keet deserves it better. Based in Belgium, the Cape Town born and former Bidvest Wits goalkeeper - who kept a clean she ...

MSFC 2-0 WITS"What is your score prediction for the clash between Bidvest Wits & Mamelodi Sundowns?"
Let's do the MATHS:read carefully with understanding. Downs, Chiefs battle not over yet Mamelodi Sundowns' latest home defeat by Orlando Pirates was, undoubtedly, a massive blow which gave Kaizer Chiefs a realistic chance of reclaiming the Absa Premiership glory thisseason. Mathematically, Kaizer Chiefs need to win only 9 of their remaining 11 games to get 70 points; on the other hand, for Mamelodi Sundowns to get to 70 points they must win all their remaining 12 games. If they win all their remaining games, this is what would happen. (See the mathematical calculations below, including the ones of Bidvest Wits, Supersport United and Orlando Pirates.) CALCULATIONS formula Games remaining: points remaining + points collected =maximum points Kaizer Chiefs • 11 games: 33 + 43 = 76 points Mamelodi Sundowns: •12 games: 36 + 34 = 70 points Bidvest Wits •13 games: 39 + 31 = 70 Points Orlando Pirates •14 games: 42 + 27 = 69 Points Supersport United • 10 games: 30 + 32 = 62 Points Looking at the above calc ...

Other games will be played on Wednesday and the winners will joins the above teams in the last 16.
Bidvest Wits head into Saturday’s opening round of the Nedbank Cup with a trump card in their pack, in the form of wily coach Gavin Hunt, who joined at the beginning of the season. Hunt is the only coach to have lifted the country’s premier knockout cup title twice, with his first triumph now a decade ago, when he won the trophy while at Moroka Swallows. The 49-year-old then went on to taste success again in 2012, when his Supersport United outfit beat Mamelodi Sundowns in the final, capping a season of ups and downs for the Cape Town-born former defender. Furthermore, Hunt and his Matsatsantsa reached the final in last year’s edition, where Kaizer Chiefs edged United to lift the trophy en route to completing a league and cup double. No stranger to the competition, Hunt will be wary of Saturday’s round of 32 opponents, AmaBEE, who have had little to no introduction to Hunt and his newly-assembled Wits outfit. Based in Tembisa, near Pretoria, AmaBEE qualified for the tournament from the Gauteng Saf ...
Kaizer Chiefs have now won 9 games on the trot. In the 2002/03 season Bidvest Wits won 9 games on the trot and in the 2006/07 season, Mamelodi Sundowns won 11 games on the trot. Do you believe Abafana Bokuthula Noxolo will eclipse the Brazilians record? •Answer is *** NO
"Kaizer Chiefs continue their pursuit of Mamelodi Sundowns' record for most consecutive PSL wins when they take on Soweto neighbours Moroka Swallows tonight. Chiefs have won seven games on the trot, leaving them four short of Downs' unmatched run. The Brazilians achieved the feat between January and April 2007 as Gordon Igesund led them to the league title. Amakhosi will need to beat Swallows, Supersport United, Maritzburg United, Bloemfontein Celtic and Platinum Stars to better the mark. Chiefs have some cause for hope against Swallows, a side they have dominated in recent times. The teams drew 1-1 in the first round in August, but before that the Glamour Boys registered six straight victories against the Birds dating back to 2010. Aside from Downs’ remarkable run, Bidvest Wits won nine games in a row between January and March 2003 under Roger De Sa, while Trott Moloto’s Umtata Bush Bucks started the first PSL season in 1997 with eight consecutive wins inside the first 10 matches."

All I can say is that we previously had three offers for Doutie from Europe in August 2013, and for whatever reason Supersport didn't listen to the offers at the time," Paul Mitchell told Goal. The Former Orlando Pirates player has been one of Matsatsantsa's most consistent performers this season, which has led to him attracting attention from top teams in the PSL. Ajax Cape Town coach Muhsin Ertugral has his fair share of fitness concerns ahead of tonight's Premiership clash with Mamelodi Sundowns at Cape Town Stadium. The Urban Warriors, with one point from three games, suffered a fresh set-back last Friday, with Travis Graham damaging his knee in a 1-0 loss to Bidvest Wits. While Graham is expected to face a lengthy spell on the sidelines, fellow midfielders Lance Davids and Franklin Cale, and centre-back Thulani Hlatshwayo might return from their respective knocks. Ertugral, though, may be forced to deploy defender Abbubakar Mobara alongside Granwald Scott in the engine room, while young Bantu Mzwakali could also make his debut. The Turkish mentor does, however, have new signings Anssi Jaakkola, Ritus Krjauklis and Stelio Ernesto at his disposal, with the foreign trio recently receiving their work permits. The visitors, meanwhile, can move top of the standings if they win handsomely in the Mother City and results go their way. Pitso Mosimane's charges, 1-0 victo ...

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Johan Neeskens was so desperate for 3 points, and during his interview last night in the Telkom Knockout, Neeskens said he was very happy that they managed to collect 3 points. This reminds me of Punch Masenamela during his days ko Kaizer Chiefs when he said "we were just here for 3 points" after winning against Bidvest Wits in the Nedbank Cup:-)

Premier Soccer League (PSL) club Bidvest Wits have confirmed the appointment of Argentinean Antonio Lopez Habas as their new coach on a two-year deal and he will be assisted by Miguel Gonzalez Martinez. Any thoughts? i think let him i mean he was fired by fans previously and his career does need a bit of redeeming in these shores. the pressure at wits is not as intense and hard_hitting as at Mamelodi Sundowns.
