After last night’s win over Mamelodi Sundowns, Kaizer Chiefs have now beaten every single team in the Absa Premiership this season
The Zimbabwe international, who is on four league goals at the moment, is looking to improve his finishing in front of goal Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Khama Billiat believes that the Brazilians can still catch Absa Premiership log leaders Kaizer Chiefs, as there are still a lot of games to be played by both teams in different competitions. "Two seasons ago while I was still at Ajax, I scored six goals and last year I only scored four due to the long injury lay off that kept me out until the beginning of this season,” Billiat told the official Sundowns website. “Now, already this season I have scored four and created a few for my teammates, even though I started the season on the sidelines," the 24-year-old attacker said. "I know I can do better with the second round upon us and during this midseason break, I’m really working on improving my finishing in front of goals," the Harare-born player continued. “Around this time last season we were almost in a similar position and we went on to win the ...

Downs Best And Worst Moments Of 2014 Having covered this very topic of the best and worst moments for both Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates already, let’s now shift our focus on Mamelodi Sundowns and look at what may have been their best and worst moments of last year. Worst Moments The Punch Masenamela Saga For whatever reasons the defender did it, we all know what it was… Where he faked a kidnapping!! It did not reflect well on the player and on the club. Since then, it has been swept under the mat, however, it would always be one of the worst moments in 2014 for Sundowns. Khama Billiat Injury After winning the Absa Premiership last season, winger Khama Billiat made his position his own at Chloorkop. However, after picking up an injury which would see him miss many of this season's Absa Premiership games, the landed up missing his services last year, as the team struggled without him. On paper, Pirates and Downs should be ahead of Chiefs, writes Daniel Mothowagae Squad depth Before this weekend’s matches, Mamelodi Sundowns had used 31 players in their Absa Premiership fixtures, Orlando Pirates had used 25 and Kaizer Chiefs only 21. With more than 10 attacking midfielders on their roster, the Sundowns midfield alone can win just about every piece of silverware on offer. The most obvious quality in coach Pitso Mosimane’s midfield is that he has the kind of midfielders who are all capable of scoring, with a ratio of three goals a game. The big names on this list are Teko Modise, Themba Zwane, Bongani Zungu, Anthony Laffor, Elias Pelembe, Khama Billiat and Lindokuhle Mbatha. Pirates also have 10 midfielders that have been utilised so far this season. Among them are Oupa Manyisa, Daine Klate, Khethokwakhe Masuku, Mpho Makola, Sifiso Myeni, Thabo Rakhale and Tlou Segolela. In contrast, Chiefs is limited in depth in midfield and coach Stuart Baxter has used a handful of midfielders in the ...

Mamelodi Sundowns will hope to continue their winning run when they travel to Orlando Pirates on Wednesday night for an Absa Premiership match at Orlando Stadium.
Kaizer Chiefs claimed derby joy over the weekend to further strengthen their Absa Premiership grip following the latest round of games, while in-form Polokwane City rose into the top eight with another win. There were also victories for Mamelodi Sundowns, Bidvest Wits, Mpumalanga Black Aces and Platinum Stars as the league closed in on the halfway point of 2014/15. Amakhosi, though, were the biggest winners after earning the Soweto bragging rights with a 2-0 triumph over Orlando Pirates at FNB Stadium on Saturday. Siphiwe Tshabalala scored after 51 minutes and Siphelele Mthembu added a stoppage-time second as Start Baxter's men moved to 36 points, a massive 13 clear at the summit, after 14 games played. The Buccaneers, whose build-up to the clash was rocked by the resignation of Vladamir Vermezovic as coach, dropped to ninth as a result. Defending champions Sundowns are the new second-placed side following their 2-0 triumph over relegation strugglers Free State Stars in Atteridgeville. Cuthbert Malajila ( ...
Mamelodi Sundowns captain Alje Schut admits that title rivals Kaizer Chiefs have been "amazing" in the Absa Premiership this season.
Time: 12:17 pm Mamelodi Sundowns is blaming the Premier Soccer League regarding Alje Schut’s registration card issue. Before the start of the Second Half in last night’s Absa Premiership match, Orlando Pirates lodged a formal complaint against the Brazilians, suggesting that captain Schut was using an expired playing card. Pitso Mosimane hinted at foul play after the match, and now a Sundowns official has lashed out at the PSL, accusing the League of deliberately trying to destabilise the club. “This is a problem for us and it will continue until the PSL gives us Alje Schut’s card for the 2014/15 season,” an official at Chloorkop tells KickOff.com. “When we registered our players before the start of the season, the PSL gave us Schut’s card with a wrong date. When we alerted them, they told us it’s no problem and that they will fix it. “The card is the same as other players’ ones, but the date is wrong. Now before every match we always get into arguments with match officials because of ...
Erasmus: We Have To Keep Pushing ABSA Premiership Orlando Pirates Kermit Erasmus Orlando Pirates striker, Kermit Erasmus, admits he wasn’t taking his chances in front of goal prior to his brace against Mamelodi Sundowns on Wednesday evening. A brace from the Bafana Bafana international, combined with a goal from Lehlohonolo Majoro, saw the Buccaneers to a convincing 3-0 win, their first in the league. Erasmus, who was handed the Man of the Match accolade, said his team will look to push on and continue with their fine goal scoring form. “The past few league games I haven’t been converting the chances we have been creating, but that is football,” said Erasmus. “It is not about the amount of chances you miss, but it is about the chances you score. “For me as a striker I just have to keep pushing and keep believing a chance will come and I will score, and against Sundowns I scored two goals and I am happy about that. “I am happy for the team and happy for the three points. It is a confidence bo ...

Kaizer Chiefs' utility player, Siphiwe Tshabalala, has expressed his desire to enact revenge against Mpumalanga Black Aces in the upcoming MTN8 tie. The Amakhosi take on the side from Mpumalanga in this competition on August 3, and ‘Shabba’ has explained why he wants to get a positive result against Clive Barker’s team. Aces beat the Glamour Boys 1-0 in a PSL match last season – it turned out to be a result that eventually handed the Absa Premiership crown to Mamelodi Sundowns. Nonetheless, ‘Shabba’ has revealed why he wants the club to give AmaZayoni a real hauling over the coals. He told his official website, “The MTN 8 cup will certainly be one we aim to win. We are thinking positively and believe that this season we can do better. Our supporters deserve to be happy and that we will make sure they are.” He added, “I recall that they defeated us close to the end of the season in the recently concluded campaign. Orlando Pirates midfielder Thabo Rakhale is a wanted man, according to the player's agent Mandla Mthembu, who spoke exclusively to Goal Rakhale spent this past season on loan at Absa Premiership side Polokwane City, where he made 28 appearances, scoring twice in all competitions for Rise and Shine. "We are aware of interest from other PSL teams. It's not surprising, as Thabo did well at City last season. However, he belongs to Pirates," Mthembu told Goal. Goal understands that City are keen to retain the 24-year-old winger from Bucs' services, while Absa Premiership outfit Free State Stars are also eyeing the former Sivutsa Stars player. "We have informed the teams that have made enquiries about him to contact Pirates directly. He's still contracted to them, and as things stand Thabo is going back to Pirates," he concluded. Before signing for Pirates in 2012, Rakhale was also on the wanted list of PSL giants Mamelodi Sundowns, but the Buccaneers beat Downs for his services. The Sebokeng-born midfielder wa ...
The Premier Soccer League will be conducting a draw of next season’s Absa Premiership fixtures. With the season expected to start sometime in August, it seems the league officials are already in preparation mode trying to set everything up for what promises to be another exciting season. Among the fixture dates everyone will be having their eye on is both legs of the Soweto Derby between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates; a game which attracts thousands to the FNB Stadium and often divides families and friendships. The teams remain as they were in the 2013/14 campaign, except for Chippa United who have made it back to the elite ranks, replacing relegated Golden Arrows. Mamelodi Sundowns will be wrestling to keep the title at Chloorkop next season, while a lot of the teams will be bolstering their squads ahead of the campaign. Kaizer Chiefs head coach, Stuart Baxter, has admitted that there will be changes at Naturena, with a new attacker their number one priority. Despite featuring in six different competitions last season, the Amakhosi finished their 2013/14 campaign without a single piece of silverware, narrowly missing out on the PSL title by two points to Mamelodi Sundowns. With the 2014/15 season now just around the corner, there has been a lot said about possible incomings and outgoings at the club ahead of the new campaign. Baxter, who won the Absa Premiership and Nedbank Cup in his first season with Chiefs, has now explained that there will be some players leaving and some players coming in. Speaking to Chiefs’ official website while holidaying overseas he said, "There will be player movements where we think some players will be better served by moving to other teams. There will also be an opportunity created to promote some of the players from the development. We need strengthening in the attacking force where we mi ...

PIRATES TOP MONEY LIST: Orlando Pirates Football Club has topped the money list for total prize money earned in the 2013/14 season. For an organisation that had to endure the disappointment of losing in three cup finals, including the Caf Champions League against Al Ahly in November last year; Pirates finally secured a gold medal with a 3-1 victory over Bidvest Wits in the Nedbank Cup this past weekend. The Pirates players may have left the PSL Player Awards empty handed last night but they can hold their heads up high. The best buys of the Premiership season THE transfer market can be pretty hit or miss, but here is our list of the best buys from the 2013-14 PSL season. Richard Henyekane (Free State Stars): It is probably fair to say that Free State Stars would not have stayed in the Absa Premiership were it not for the goals of Henyekane, brought in on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns in January. He scored seven times, with those goals amassing eight precious points for Ea Lla Koto. Anssi Jaakkola (Ajax Cape Town): Jaakkola has been a revelation since arriving at Ajax and was the likely difference between safety and a real relegation scrap this campaign, winning his nomination for Goalkeeper of the Season at last night’s (SUNDAY) PSL awards. Coach Roger De Sa believes he was worth “at least 12 extra points” to the team. Frank Mhango (Bloemfontein Celtic): The Malawian international was not picked up after trials at AmaZulu, but proved that to be a monumental mistake as he scored nine goals in 14 starts at Bloemfontein ...

'Chiefs will bounce back next season' - Motaung Published: Tuesday, 2014/05/13 Kaizer Chiefs will bounce back next season. That was the view of Amakhosi football manager Bobby Motaung. Speaking yesterday in the aftermath of losing both the Absa Premiership and Nedbank Cup titles this season, Motaung promised their fans that Chiefs would regroup ahead of next season. Motaung was also one of the first to congratulate new champions Mamelodi Sundowns, who pushed Chiefs into second place and won the championship with 65 points - two better than defending champs Amakhosi. Said Motaung: “I wish Sundowns all the best.” The Chiefs boss said they were not emotional after losing out on silverware this term. Said Motaung: “We will sit down with the coaches and analyse the season thoroughly. We will regroup, revisit and come up with solutions. “We lost the league by two points. It was not a bad season but in the end we did not have a trophy and that was disappointing. But I must commend my players, who did re ...
Kaizer Chiefs coach, Stuart Baxter, has thanked the club's fans for their faithful support in what has been a taxing 2013/14 season. The Glamour Boys failed to defend their PSL title and also didn't secure any silverware in the cup competitions. In addition, the English coach is looking at the positives as Chiefs gear up towards the 2014/15 campaign. Aside from thanking the fans for sticking by the team through thick and thin, Baxter also pointed out that the club's haul of 63 points would've been enough in most seasons to win a title. In fact, since the inception of a 16 team league in 2002/03, only once has the title-winning team recorded 63 points. This means with this points haul, the Amakhosi would've won the league nine out of ten times had the league race gone according to the usual trend. Yet, it perhaps shows how outstanding Mamelodi Sundowns were to record a massive 65 points to take the Absa Premiership crown. Nonetheless, Baxter has thanked the fans for their support in what has proved to be a ...
COACHES (Development) CORNER! Mamelodi Sundowns winning the Absa Premier Soccer League title can be misleading to many people taking into consideration that Pitso Mosimane rely on tried-and-tested players to win the league championship. This can be dangerous as other teams might as well follow on their strategy to recall "OLD HORSES TO RUN THE RACE and neglect youngsters. Youngsters are no longer valued by coaches especially the so called BIG clubs because they have been told to win the league. The question is: When these youngsters are going to play if coaches ignored them and made them to rot-on-the-bench-and-stand. Are they going to be loaned to those small teams - like Sundowns did with many youngsters at the beginning of the season to paved way for those tried-and-tested players. The truth is that, the money that Sundowns spend to buy those players is more than the Absa Premiership prize money. THIS IS MY PERSONAL OPINION:
On behalf of all Kaizer Chiefs supporters i;d like to congratulate Mamelodi Sundowns for lifting Absa Premiership Cup they deserve it jelourse down lets show good sportsmanship.nd Congra to Pitso as the 1st Black Couch to win the League title from KHOSI FAN
Mamelodi Sundowns snatches premiership victory. Sundowns claimed the 2014 Absa Premiership this past Saturday...
PSL Twenty-three goals were scored in eight games on the final day of the Absa Premiership season on Saturday. With champions, Mamelodi Sundowns, already decided after the mid-week game, much of the interest was focused on top eight positions and who would be in the relegation play-offs. Sundowns came up against a spirited Maritzburg United at the Harry Gwala Stadium, and needed an injury team goal from captain Alje Schut to rescue a 1-1 draw after Heinrich Isaacks had given the Team of Choice an early lead. Second-placed Kaizer Chiefs ended their season with an emphatic 3-0 win over AmaZulu, third-placed Wits won 1-0 away at sixth-placed Bloemfontein Celtic, and Orlando Pirates made sure of a fourth-place finish with a 3-1 win over already-relegated Golden Arrows. Supersport United jumped to fifth with a 4-2 win over Polokwane City, who dropped into the play-off spot, after being leap-frogged by Free State Stars who beat Moroka Swallows 3-0. Teams: Kaizer Chiefs 3-0 AmaZulu Date: 10 May 2014 Venue: Peter Mokaba Stadium Kaizer Chiefs ended their Absa Premiership season on a high after beating AmaZulu 3-0 in a league match at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The result sees Chiefs finish in second place on the table, a point behind league winners Mamelodi Sundowns, while AmaZulu finished the season in ninth. The Amakhosi started the better of the two teams and opened the scoring in the 12th minute through Kingston Nkhatha. The Zimbabwean international cut into the box from the right flank, but saw his initial shot saved by the keeper. Nkhatha, though, was quick to pounce on the rebound when he saw his shot deflect off a defender and into the goal from a couple of yards out, 1-0. The next decent effort on goal came just before the half hour mark when Reneilwe Letsholonyane tried his luck from 24-yards out, but he saw his low effort well-saved by the keeper. The Amakhosi continued to apply the pressure and were rewarded with their ...

This is the attitude ahead of their crunch Absa Premiership showdown against struggling Free State Stars at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane tomorrow night (7.30pm). Chiefs, with three matches to play, have 56 points - five behind leaders, Mamelodi Sundowns, who have two matches remaining. Chiefs head coach Stuart Baxter believes it’s a win or bust game. “This is the big one as far as we are concerned,” Baxter told SunSport. “If we lose we can virtually kiss the title goodbye.” Amakhosi can now focus all their energies on retaining their league and Nedbank Cup titles after they were knocked out of the Caf Confederation Cup at the weekend, losing 1-0 in their play-off round, second leg tie to Asec Mimosas in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. They lost 3-1 on aggregate. Amakhosi play Bidvest Wits in the cup semifinal at Milpark on Saturday. Baxter’s decision to stay at home and prepare his senior players for the clash against Ea Lla Koto appears to have bee ...
Mahachi set to earn 1,2 million euros. HIGHLANDERS FC's dribbling wizard Kudakwashe Mahachi is set to be paid 1,2 million euros if he makes it into the French team Monaco where he is set to undergo trials this week. Absa Premiership club Mamelodi Sundowns player Mahachi is set for a mega dollar deal in Monaco as they are offering a huge package for him if he passes trials. The ginger-haired Mahachi could play alongside Dimitar Berbatov, Eric Abidal, Ricardo Carvalho and Radamel Falcao who are in the ranks of the Abu Dhabi owned club if he passes the trials.
ABSA Premiership Facts: Manning Rangers - 1 PSL Title. Mamelodi Sundowns - 5 PSL Titles. Orlando Pirates - 4 PSL Titles. Santos - 1 PSL Title. Kaizer Chiefs - 3 PSL Titles. Supersport United - 3 PSL Titles. According to you, will the 2013/14 trophy stay in Johannesburg or is it heading to Tshwane?
Looks like this football season will be full of Shocks: Liverpool finally winning the League after 24 years; Arsenal looking like they will win the FA Cup after 8 years of no tasting success; Mamelodi Sundowns look like strong contenders to win the ABSA Premiership and Athletico Madrid looking like they might win the La Liga title. I wouldn't be surprised if Argentina or England are crowned World Champions in Brazil.

Let's do the MATHS:read carefully with understanding. Downs, Chiefs battle not over yet Mamelodi Sundowns' latest home defeat by Orlando Pirates was, undoubtedly, a massive blow which gave Kaizer Chiefs a realistic chance of reclaiming the Absa Premiership glory thisseason. Mathematically, Kaizer Chiefs need to win only 9 of their remaining 11 games to get 70 points; on the other hand, for Mamelodi Sundowns to get to 70 points they must win all their remaining 12 games. If they win all their remaining games, this is what would happen. (See the mathematical calculations below, including the ones of Bidvest Wits, Supersport United and Orlando Pirates.) CALCULATIONS formula Games remaining: points remaining + points collected =maximum points Kaizer Chiefs • 11 games: 33 + 43 = 76 points Mamelodi Sundowns: •12 games: 36 + 34 = 70 points Bidvest Wits •13 games: 39 + 31 = 70 Points Orlando Pirates •14 games: 42 + 27 = 69 Points Supersport United • 10 games: 30 + 32 = 62 Points Looking at the above calc ...
... Ay... I feel like i grew up in the wrong place for football... The people nje in it dont understand it, the way it is being played here... Ishhh INFACT i was born in the wrong country... Only 3 Absa Premiership teams have their unique philosophies in their brand of football which they stick to and which can grace any league in Europe and do well... Ajax Cape Town, Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs... My football brain and abilities point me to Spain, England or Germany... I so wish i was born there
Kaizer Chiefs are on course to set a points record in the Absa Premiership if they maintain their current run of winning form. The Glamour Boys would set a new record which would break any figure achieved since the inception of the PSL era in 1996/97. Stuart Baxter's men are currently on a run which has seen the team put together an unbeaten streak of 13 matches in-a-row. The club have won 13 of their 19 matches played in the PSL, and have a win percentage of 75%. If they continue to win games at that percentage in a 30-game season, Chiefs would easily break the record. This would be the best return in the modern era and surpasses the 73% winning percentage achieved by the magnificent Mamelodi Sundowns sides of the 1998/99 and 1999/00 campaigns, in what was then a 34-team league. A 75% winning percentage would also see Chiefs easily smash their previous best points total in the PSL of 63 points. Amakhosi achieved this marker in their title-winning campaign of 2003/04. Interestingly, the Black and Gold hav ...
Mamelodi Sundowns will face Orlando Pirates on Tuesday night in a mouthwatering Absa Premiership clash without four of their key players Bafana Bafana striker Katlego Mashego suffered a groin injury against Ajax Cape Town on Friday. 'Mahoota' who has scored seven goals in 20 appearances this season, is out injured for six weeks according to the Sundowns website. Another striker Cuthbert Malajila will miss the Bucs encounter because of a hamstring injury. The Zimbabwe international is expected back in three weeks time. Forward Rodney Ramagalela is the only out and out striker who is fit and available for team selection. The Brazilians will have to make do without their first choice goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene who picked his fourth yellow card against Ajax. Zimbabwe international Khama Billiat is also suspended going into the Tuesday night clash. Both players will be serving a one match ban. Former Bafana Bafana keeper Wayne Sandilands and Togolese midfielder Dove Wome are expected to replace Mweene and Billi ...
CHIEFS HAMMER CELTIC ! By ' Kaizer Chiefs stretched their lead at the top of Absa Premiership table following an incredible 3-0 victory over Bloemfontein Celtic at the FNB Stadium last night. Chiefs are nine points clear ahead of second-placed Mamelodi Sundowns with 43 points from 19 games, but the Brazilians have two games in hand. Chiefs had more ball possession from the start in a bid to penetrate the Celtic defence lead by captain Clayton Daniels. Amakhosi midfielder Siphiwe Tshabalala almost broke the stalemate in the fifth minute but his shot was easily saved by goalkeeper Patrick Tignyemb. Celtic striker Joel Mogorosi fluffed a great chance to grab the opener in the 22nd minute when he shot way off target. Tshabalala missed another opportunity to break the deadlock in the 28th minute when he shot over the crossbar after getting into a good scoring position. Chiefs continued to dominate but they could not get past the stubborn Celtic rear-guard. The Celtic defence finally cracked in the 43rd minute ...

Mphela move to Chiefs done in time Katlego Mphela is moving to Kaizer Chiefs from Mamelodi Sundowns after successfully negotiations to pay out the last six months of his contract before he joins AmaKhosi permanently next season, his agents said. It ends weeks on intense discussion over the future of 29-year-old striker between the two rivals and means Mphela is immediately eligible for Chiefs although highly unlikely to be suited up to play on Friday night when the log leaders go up against Moroka Swallows in the Absa Premiership. Mphela had already signed a pre-contract with the champions for next season but Chiefs have tried to get him on their books earlier. Initially they had hoped to sign him before the January 15 deadline for the upcoming African Champions League campaign but Sundowns first balked at the move. But the club softened their stance on the final day of the transfer window and Mphela’s registration with his new club was completed with just hours to spare in the transfer window, which cl ...
Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter was full of praise for the way in which Mamelodi Sundowns played despite going down 1-0 to the Amakhosi in an Absa Premiership match on Thursday night.
I watched the Absa Premiership match between Mamelodi Sundowns against Kaizer Chiefs, On SABC1. If you are the Kaizer Chiefs fan, here 's the score: Mamelodi Sundowns 0-1* Kaizer Chiefs.
Wayne Arendse’s own-goal was the only thing separating Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns at Loftus Stadium on Thursday evening as the Amakhosi claimed a 1-0 win in their Absa Premiership match.
ABSA Premiership | Half-Time Score Mamelodi Sundowns 0-1 Kaizer Chiefs (Arendse 9' OG) Analysis: Mamelodi Sundowns have an upper hand when they get into the scoring areas, they look very offensive, while Chiefs seem to be dangerous on counter attacks when they turn defense into attack. Sundowns were unlucky not to have found the back of the net with Khune beaten from Modise's long range shot which found the crossbar, Chiefs got a soft goal from a free kick after Arendse brought down Masilela and from thatnset piece, it was Arendse again who deflected it into his own net to beat Mweene. If Sundowns continue to press Chiefs, they might be rewarded. The referee seems to be losing control of the game as we see tackles flying and he is shy to show marching order as the game is very physical. What are your views of the first half?

Kaizer Chiefs are fretting over the fitness of captain and goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune ahead of Thursday’s crunch Absa Premiership tie at Mamelodi Sundowns. Khune didn’t feature for Bafana Bafana in their chaotic African Nations Championship loss to Nigeria on Sunday and, by yesterday, Amakhosi had still not received a full report from National Team officials about the extent of his injury. “We are in the dark,” said Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter about Khune’s supposed injury. “I spoke to Gordon (Igesund) and he said it was a slight injury … nothing to worry about. “That was on Friday. But then I was surprised he was written off for the game (against Nigeria). Our doctors got hold of (Bafana) doctors, but we have received nothing to support the diagnosis. No scans, nothing.” More confusion reigned when Baxter said he had spoken to Khune, who told him the injury “was not bad”, and the goalkeeper had also apparently declared himself fit. Whatever the case, Baxter is still unhappy that his ...
Orlando Pirates head coach Roger De Sa has stuck to his guns over star midfielder Andile Jali. Jali, along with Oupa Manyisa was the backbone of Bucs engineroom in reaching three cup finals in 2013. There has been speculation that Jali would be tempted to jump ship and join big spending Mamelodi Sundowns in the January transfer window. But stated De Sa: “Jali is in. He’s never been out. As far as I know he is staying. But his contract is handled by our management and they are dealing with it.” Meanwhile it’s all system go for the Buccaneers first Absa Premiership fixture of 2014 when they host Supersport United at Orlando Stadium on Saturday (3.30pm).
Orlando Pirates have beefed up their attack by acquiring the services of Mozambique international striker Helder Pelembe. Pirates executive administrator Floyd “Jomo” Mbele said yesterday Pelembe has signed a three and half years deal with the Buccaneers. Pelembe, described as one of the deadliest strikers in Mozambique, is expected to form a formidable partnership with forwards Lennox Bacela, Collins Mbesuma and Ndumiso Mabena, among others. “He has been training with us since December, the technical staff members are convinced he will add value to the value,” said Mbele. “We want to build a solid team that will help us do well in the Absa Premiership, we are still busy sorting out his paper work.” Pelembe, who is not related to Mamelodi Sundowns winger Elias Pelembe, featured in the friendly matches played by Pirates at Rand Stadium this week. He was in the lineup when Pirates defeated Congo’’s AC Leopards 2-0 with Aubrey Ngoma and Mbesuma scoring the two goals in the second game at the ...
Chiefs and Downs back in training 2014-01-06 Both champions Kaizer Chiefs and their closest challengers Mamelodi Sundowns went back to work at the weekend and will make a decision in the next day or two on whether they will go away for part of the preparations for the Second Half of the season. Both clubs started on Saturday as they eye a potentially decisive showdown in the Absa Premiership race at Loftus Versfeld on January 23 but without five players each who have gone off to the African Nations Championship (Chan). Also back were third-placed Bidvest Wits, even though they do not play a league game until early next month. All three clubs might yet move away from their Gauteng headquarters for a camp but were not yet decided. Club spokesmen said decisions would be made in the next few days. Wits could be headed to Nelspruit. Orlando Pirates start their work tomorrow morning. Bafana Bafana’s 2014 CHAN plans are in jeopardy! Kaizer Chiefs insist that their five players called up for the tournament taking place between 11 January and 1 February will not be released as Bafana prepare to hold a seven-day camp in Cape Town from Thursday. Last Monday Chiefs refused to release their players, but that decision was reportedly changed after Safa claimed an agreement with Chiefs had been reached. Now Amakhosi have given Safa the option of taking captain Itumeleng Khune, Tefu Mashamaite, Tshepo Masilela, Siphiwe Tshabalala and Bernard Parker only after their re-scheduled Absa Premiership fixture against Mamelodi Sundowns on 23 January which is during the knockout stages of the CHAN competition. Chiefs spokesman Vina Maphosa said yesterday: “We still stand a chance of having our players excused for the tournament.” “The matter is not that straight forward because Bafana coach Gordon Igesund selected players even after writing to him and asking for the players not to be considered. ...
Luis Suarez has scored 10 goals in December alone - with a fixture to spare tomorrow! So how do we get better if we reward mediocrity? Mncim!
Mamelodi Sundowns head into 2014, five points off table toppers Kaizer Chiefs who will end the year atop of the Absa Premiership table. ‘Downs were the early pacesetters but a number of disappointing results over the past month has demoted the Chloorkop based club down to second spot, Sundowns though have played one fewer game than Chiefs this season. The Brazilians final game of the year ended in a 2-2 draw at home against Maritzburg United, Khama Billiat scored in stoppage time to salvage a point for Bafana Ba’Style. ‘Downs have looked a different outfit under Pitso Mosimane and have significantly improved from the side that failed to secure a top eight spot last season. Sundowns though will have to continue to be at their best of they were to oust the Amakhosi and co and subsequently end their trophy drought. The two teams will face each other in a league encounter on the 28th of January at Loftus Stadium, scheduled time for kick-off is 19h30. Your Comments

Kaizer Chiefs will play a match every three days in the lead-up to the festive Chiefs face hectic December schedule season break in December, a punishing schedule for a squad that coach Stuart Baxter feels is already carrying weary legs. The Amakhosi have had two Absa Premiership matches rescheduled into December – away trips to Mamelodi Sundowns (Dec. 11) and Lamontville Golden Arrows (Dec. 18) meaning they will play six games in 17 days before heading off on their Christmas holidays. And adding to their fatigue will be travel – just two of those games will be at home, against Polokwane City (Dec. 4) and University Of Pretoria (Dec. 14). Chiefs also have away trips to Free State Stars (Dec. 7) and AmaZulu (Dec. 21), which at least comes after their Golden Arrows match-up, allowing the team to camp in Durban. The Brazilians were the toast of the town two weeks ago when they bulldozed Bloemfontein Celtic 4-0 in the same cup competition but were brought down to earth by Dikwena at the weekend. ZIMBABWE international forward Khama Billiat spoke of his excitement yesterday as he got another big chance to break into Europe after being offered a trial stint at top Russian outfit Lokomotiv Moscow. Billiat was last night expected to fly out from Cape Town to Slovenia to join the Russian giants for their pre-season training camp. The Ajax Cape Town hotshot has been in demand in the off-season, with Absa Premiership giants Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns heavily linked with a move for his signature. Such has been the huge interest on Billiat’s services that his club had even put a R10 million price tag on him, about a US$1 million at the time they made the valuation, to ensure only serious contenders put in their bid for the winger. Although such a figure would scare away potential suitors in South Africa, it is small change when it comes to European clubs and, in the event that Billiat passes his trials, he could go for about three or four times what Ajax Cape Town had put on his head for a do ...

Method Mwanjali faces a bleak future at South African Premiership giants Mamelodi Sundowns following revelations that the former Warriors skipper is yet to be offered a new contract following the expiry of his initial deal at the end of the 2012-13 Absa Premiership season. The Zimbabwean international had an initial three-year deal at the Brazilians since his arrival at Sundowns in 2010 together with fellow countrymen and former CAPS United teammates Nyasha Mushekwi and Lionel Mtizwa. Mwanjali’s profile at the Brazilians even rose to a high when he was named the Mamelodi Sundowns captain but it has emerged that the utility man could be forced to spend the off-season break waiting anxiously on the wings as he has not yet been offered a fresh deal by the big-spending club. While Sundowns were quick to exercise their first option privilege when Mushekwi’s contract expired and also offered a fresh two year-deal to Nyandoro, it has emerged that coach Pitso Mosimane and the club’s management are still mum ...

In case you haven't got the chance to peruse the letter on Soccer Laduma. Most of the teams that struggled to grapple their positions in the top eight couldn't believe their luck when they got bundled out on the last day of the Absa Premiership campaign. Mamelodi Sundowns and Moroka Swallows are the two noticeable absentees conspicuously and this sums up their horrific 2012/13 season. The Dube Birds won't even be able to defend their trophy. Swallows management might be kicking themselves for letting go of Gordon, who had brought stability to the team, only to replace him with Zeca, who failed hands down. Cognisance of the poor showing in this campaign, if things are left unchanged at Swallows, there won't be much difference to their log position next season. Owen Papa-Reminisce Valoyi, Nkuri-Tomu
South African Premiership side University Of Pretoria assistant coach Selaotse Mosala and the club chief scout Paul Matthews, who are looking for players to beef up their squad, were at the National Sports Stadium yesterday. Amatuks finished eighth in the Absa Premiership following their 1-0 victory against newly-crowned champions Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday. But the newboys are definitely not resting and yesterday coach Steve Barker’s deputy was immediately dispatched to Zimbabwe to watch the match between CAPS United and Dynamos and identify some good players. After watching the derby, which did not really explode into life, Matthews, who is the head of scouting and recruitment, said their visit had been fuelled by the exploits of the Zimbabweans at their club. University Of Pretoria is home to former Dynamos goalkeeper Washington Arubi and Lionell Mtizwa, who was on loan from neighbours Mamelodi Sundowns. They also have a Zimbabwean in their technical team - goalkeeper’s coach Tendai Tanyanyiwa. Matt ...

FORMER Dynamos hitman Cuthbert Malajila looks set to revive his striking partnership with fellow Zimbabwean international Nyasha Mushekwi amid strong indications that the Maritzburg United forward is heading for Absa Premiership giants Mamelodi Sundowns. Malajila has seen his stock rise following a fine season with Maritzburg United that has ensured that the Team of Choice had a decent season and are safe from relegation. Maritzburg are currently in 11th place ahead of the last round of fixtures for the 2012-13 season today and as they head for a tough assignment against former champions Orlando Pirates in Soweto, it could mark the end of Malajila’s brief stint with the Team of Choice. It has emerged that ambitious Mamelodi Sundowns have lined up an audacious bid to lure Malajila to the Brazilians for the 2013-14 season. Although neither Malajila’s management team nor Sundowns were keen to discuss player transfers at least until the season ends, The Herald can reveal that after today’s clash between ...

Orlando Pirates are not intimidated by Mamelodi Sundowns' impressive 5-2 win over Black Leopards in their midweek Absa Premiership match. Pirates, fresh from qualifying for the group phase of the African Champions League after eliminating TP Mazembe in the Democratic Republic of Congo, welcome Sundowns to Orlando Stadium in what promises to be a thrill-a-minute. In their first round clash in December, Pirates defeated Sundowns 3-1 with goals from Thulasizwe Mbuyane, Takesure Chinyama and Sifiso Myeni. The Mamelodi-born Mbuyane has made it a habit of scoring every time Pirates play against Sundowns, both in home and away matches. Edward Manqele pulled one back for the home side in that game. The Buccaneers captain, Lucky Lekgwathi, said they wanted to keep the winning momentum after their success against Mazembe by beating Sundowns again. "We watched Sundowns in the game against Black Leopards on television, they were in a class of their own," Lekgwathi said. "As you can see, their appetite for goals is ...

After a goalless Soweto Derby do you think the Tshwane Derby will produce some goals?
The PSL has confirmed that the Soweto Derby result will not be included in this quarter of Q-Innovation, although Kaizer Chiefs still top the log. Amakhosi and the Buccaneers played to a 0-0 draw on Saturday at Orlando Stadium, but the point each team earned will not be included in Q3. Moroka Swallows, Supersport United, Bidvest Wits and AmaZulu are all on 11 points, while Pirates are on 10 with a game in hand. “Kaizer Chiefs vs Orlando Pirates has NOT been included because it is a Q4 match brought forward,” PSL media officer Luxolo September confirms. “Q3 will only be complete when postponed matches from this quarter have been played.” Bucs were meant to travel to Cape Town on March 1 to face Ajax Cape Town, but the match has been postponed to Wednesday, April 10, because of Pirates’ CAF commitments. If The ABSA Premiership was a Classroom:- 1. Kaizer Chiefs is a child who is very proud of the academic achievements of his grandfather. 2. Orlando Pirates is a boy who just performs in the final exams and tops the class. 3. Mamelodi Sundowns is a spoilt child who purchases all the expensive books but is never interested in reading them. 4. Ajax Cape Town is a boy who works hard throughout the year but fails to succeed. 5. Bloemfontein Celtic is a girl who thinks getting 18pts from a possible 21 in mid year term tests translates to a pass in the final exams. 6. Chippa is a boy who fails and blames his teachers then his family finds a new teacher for him every year. 7. Platinum Stars is a boy who always bullies Chiefs.

Mamelodi Sundowns ran riot at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium as they defeated Maritzburg United 3-0 at claim their first three points since the return of the Absa Premiership.
Very interesting game between Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns last night, lets look at some interesting analysis of this ABsa Premiership Match: I missed the first 15 minutes. Sundowns looked very much like Bafana under Pitso, lots of possession but not penetrative enough on the final third, for a moment they looked like they have an extra man on the pitch, knocking the ball with space, Chiefs applying a very low line of defence, as soon as Sundowns got into their half, they started to press, looked very organized defensively but also very quick and direct on transition after winning possession. Second Half both teams increased the tempo of the game but Chiefs defence organization made it very difficult for Sundowns to create any clear scoring chances, Chiefs continued to wait for those "break attacking" moments even though they had too many technical errors on possession, easily loosing the ball when going forward. Pitso might have not got the first eleven correct but he did very well with his change ...

The Sundowns faithful arrived in droves, having decided that they would match anything that Chiefs could throw at them. What did you think of the performance last night? Match Report -
Mamelodi Sundowns were sitting second from bottom of the Absa Premiership table when coach Pitso Mosimane took over at the helm of the Brazilians last year. After four games in charge of the bench, Sundowns are sitting in 10th place. Mosimane collected eight points out of a possible 12 as the team clawed their way up the table. Tomorrow Sundowns will welcome log leaders Kaizer Chiefs to Loftus Stadium as the PSL resumes, following the Africa Cup of Nations break. The two clubs met in the league at the beginning of the campaign, where Chiefs won 2-1, however Mosimane believes the players’ change in mentality will bring a change in result. "We changed the way the team was playing and we would want to continue with that when we play Chiefs tomorrow. You know I had to change the shape of the team as I brought in other players who were not playing into the team. “We will continue to work hard against Chiefs tomorrow and collect the points in this game. It is an important game and our change of mentality is ...

Sundowns are using these matches to prepare for the second round of the Absa premiership which resumes immediaty after the Afcon finals being held in South Africa. The Pitso Musimane coached side started the 2012-2013 season horribly, losing matches with terrible consistency but things changed when the former bafana bafana gaffer took over the reins from Dutch man Roy Neeskens. Sundowns currently butter the bread of Esrom Nyandoro and former warriors players Nyasha Mushekwi and Method Mwanjali

The squad includes three Zimbabweans - Nyasha Mushekwi, Esrom Nyandoro and Method Mwanjali. Mwanjali was recently cleared by ZIFA early this week to play despite his Asiagate match-fixing ban which he has appealed against. Sundowns will arrive in Bulawayo on Monday for the first match set for Barbourfields against Highlanders on Wednesday. The South African side will then play Caps United on February 1 in Harare before clashing with Dynamos two days later. Sundowns are preparing in Polokwane for the matches. 13 Africa Cup of Nations Teams: Bafana v Cape Verde Date: 19 January 2013 Venue: National Stadium Soccer-Laduma can confirm Bafana Bafana's starting XI for their opening game of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations against Cape Verde, with coach Gordon Igesund making some surprise changes. The biggest surprise comes upfront, where Kaizer Chiefs' Lehlohonolo Majoro will start ahead of Mamelodi Sundowns forward Katlego Mphela. Majoro will be supported by his Chiefs teammate Bernard Parker. In-form Orland Pirates fullback Thabo Matlaba has also done enough to convince the Bafana coach that he should start, as he comes in ahead of Tsepo Masilela. Siyabonga Sangweni and Bongani Khumalo will control the centre of defence while Reneilwe Letsholonyane and Kagisho Dikgacoi have been deployed to command the middle of the pitch. Igesund will be hoping that Thuso Phala and Siphiwe Tshabalala cause havoc on the flanks, while Majoro and Parker have been in decent form in front of goal in the ABSA Premiership season so far. Meet Sundowns, the Izikhothane of the PSL Posted: December 2nd, 2012 | By Sbu Mjikeliso I had a laughing – then coughing – fit when fellow scribe and soccer analyst Tso joked that Mamelodi Sundowns were “Dikhothane tsa Pitori”. Now if you have just landed from Mars, let me explain: Izikhothane is a group of youths practising a vile trend of buying expensive material – clothes, food, anything you can think of- mostly with money given to them by their parents and they go about destroying it as if it were worthless. The other day they were tearing R100 bank notes for kicks. Well, the Motsepe Foundation (I guess not content with spending millions on under-performing players) hosted a concert in East London a day after Sundowns’ 1-0 Telkom Knockout final defeat to Bloemfontein Celtic. Now I’m sure that the concert was organised months before the final but why does it appear like the Sundowns family are more adept at organising lavish parties [insert Miss Mamelodi Sundowns pageant here] than they ...
MWANJALI, NYANDORO SAFE; ZIMBABWE internationals, Method Mwanjali and Esrom Nyandoro, are set to have an extended stay at South African Premiership side, Mamelodi Sundowns, beyond the current season that ends in May. Nyandoro has struggled with injuries and nailing down a regular first team jersey, as he gets to the twilight of his career, while Mwanjali’s future has been clouded by the Asiagate scandal. Mwanjali was banned for life by Zifa. Yesterday, Sundowns’ technical director, Trott Moloto, revealed that they were ready to extend the contracts of Mwanjali and Nyandoro. Speaking in Harare yesterday, Moloto allayed fears that the duo maybe on their way out of the Chloorkop side, insisting the players were still very much in the club’s plans. “People should not panic. With Method and Esrom, these are valuable players who bring something special to the club,” said Moloto. “The players only started training on Friday, and today (yesterday) as we speak, they are at Isokinetic High Performance C ...
DeMbare to date Sundowns CHAMPIONS Dynamos’ hopes of having solid preparations for the Champions League campaign could get a big boost following indications that South African Premiership giants Mamelodi Sundowns might play them in Harare early next month. Sundowns indicated yesterday that they are willing to tour Zimbabwe during the break in the Absa Premiership, which has been necessitated by the staging of the African Cup of Nations. The Nations Cup, continental football’s biggest showcase, bursts into life at Soccer City in Johannesburg on January 19. A number of South African clubs have resorted to organising tours, training camps and friendly matches to keep their shape ahead of the resumption of their league championship later next month. Dynamos on their part have been seeking serious preparations to try and adequately prepare for the tough challenges that await them in the Champions League campaign. DeMbare have also approached Sunday Chidzambwa’s Black Leopards and Bidvest Wits for possibl ...
Pirates an option for unhappy Nale DISGRUNTLED Kaizer Chiefs winger Abia "NyakaNyaka" Nale could return to Orlando Pirates, the club that helped shape his development, in the current transfer window. Platinum Stars have also joined the race to sign Nale, who wants out of Kaizer Chiefs due to a lack of game time. Nale's uncle Steve Nale, who is representing the player, has already discussed a possible transfer to another club with Chiefs general manager Bobby Motaung. Nale senior referred all inquiries to Motaung, who could not be reached for comment. It is a known fact that Stars want to sign Nale in a swap deal that could see Thuso Phala going in the opposite direction. Phala, whose contract with Dikwena expires in June, has been in great form this season and helped his club win the Absa Premiership's quarterly prize for the best performing side. A former Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns player, Phala was also in a class of his own in Bafana Bafana's 1-0 defeat to Norway in Cape Town on Tuesday ni ...

Q1 was won by Kaizer Chiefs following their impressive undefeated run in the first quarter, but found themselves finishing 3rd in the second quarter after Platinum Stars & Orlando Pirates who were both unbeaten in Q2. Keeping Neeskens shows Downs boss Motsepe has gone soft, say officials Nov 12, 2012 | Mazola Molefe | 35 comments inShare TIED UP: Patrice Motsepe RELATED ARTICLES Sundowns in crisis Patrice Motsepe has gone soft, according to some officials at Mamelodi Sundowns who believe if the club president was his trigger-happy old self, coach Johan Neeskens would have been sacked long ago. Motsepe could yet give Neeskens the boot, but the fact that the Dutchman is still at Sundowns after a string of poor results, when his predecessors were usually shown the door after such a bad patch, supports statements coming from the club's insiders. Sundowns are bottom of the log for the second week running after 10 Absa Premiership games - suffering six defeats to make this their worst-ever start to a season. If the last few weeks of the previous campaign are taken into consideration, Sundowns have tasted victory just once in 16 league matches under Neeskens. On paper the Brazilians are one of the strongest sides in the PSL, however in football that does not always guarantee success and Sundowns midfielder Lebohang ‘Cheeseboy’ Mokoena knows that you can never write off the underdogs. "We cannot relax because they are a newly promoted team, because that would be suicidal as they know as better than we know them. Our technical team should have watched their videos and they know them. “They have told us to attack from the first whistle and don't give them a chance to come at us. We have to win our first game and do it against Chippa," Mokoena said. Meanwhile Chippa United coach Manqoba Mngqithi said that they are aware of the talent that Sundowns poses and they will play according to their strength ...
15 May 2012 14:58:33 Absa Premiership side Kaizer Chiefs confirmed on Tuesday they have signed Bafana Bafana international Siboniso Gaxa from Belgium based side Lierse SK. News of Gaxa’s signing has been the subject of much media speculation and early on Tuesday, it was reported that the player was already in the country to finalise the deal. The highly rated 28-year-old defender agreed a three-year contract and with an option to renew for one year with the Soweto giants. He is the club’s first major signing as they prepare for next season following a disappointing 2011-2012 season where they ended trophyless.
