Addressing press conference - National Campaign on Nutrition for Dignity at Damoh, Madhya Pradesh - highlighted the urgent need to eradicate discrimination by ensuring none looking after anganwadi centre will have discriminatory thoughts for beautiful children, adolescents, pregnant women and lactating mother. Malnutrition among SCs / STs families is a reality of the day and this is all happening because of discriminatory practices of the service providers. I called for the adoption of zero tolerance for anganwadit sewika who are reported by majority of the gram sabha to be practicing discrimination with Dalits, Adivasis & other socially excluded communities.

Lok Sabha polls 2014: BJP set to get majority with 275 seats, claims opinion poll New Delhi: One more TV channel has predicted a clear majority for the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance. NDTV's opinion polls, 'The Final Word', telecast during the crucial phases of the elections claim that NDA will win 275 seats, crossing the half-way mark of 272 with a comfortable majority. BJP's share of the tally is expected to be 226 seats with the rest coming in from allies — old and new — such as Telugu Desam Party. The UPA is supposed to lose out badly with just 111 seats for the coalition and a mere 92 for Congress, probably its worst performance. Surprise win for BJP in many states BJP is, of course, expected to sweep Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh. But the surprise victories are predicted from Odisha, Seemandhra region of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and a considerable share of seats in Karnataka. The pollsters have projected a tally of 15 out of 25 Seemandhra seats, three out of 17 in Te ...

Three top NGOs for CAG probe into Forest Rights Act implementation Vijay Pinjarkar,TNN | Apr 15, 2014, 02.23 AM IST NAGPUR: Seeking transparency, three NGOs working for wildlife conservation and tribal development at the grassroots have filed an application in the Supreme Court demanding a committee of independent experts or Controller and Auditor General (CAG) to examine implementation of the impugned Forest Rights Act (FRA) 2006. Many cases have come to the fore where FRA has been misused for land grabbing. The best example is of Yawal Wildlife Sanctuary in Jalgaon, which is under siege under the garb of FRA. The interim application filed by Praveen Bharghav (Wildlife First), Kishor Rithe (Nature Conservation Society, Amravati), and Poonam Dhanwatey (Tiger Research and Conservation Trust (TRACT), in a writ petition has sought to know procedure adopted for identification of the genuine claims and grant of forest rights in Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh, and submit a report to the court in ...
Mahatma Gandhi identified the consumption of alcohol as a major social evil and encouraged complete prohibition in India.[1] With this in mind, the Constitution of India included Article 47 in the Directive Principles of State Policy, which reads, "The state shall endeavour to bring about prohibition of the use except for medicinal purposes of intoxicating drinks and of drugs which are injurious to health." Madras Province and Bombay State implemented prohibition between 1948 and 1950, and total prohibition was in operation in Madras State, Maharashtra, Gujarat and 11 districts of Andhra Pradesh from 1958 to 1969, and other sizeable areas in Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa (now Odisha), Karnataka and Kerala. One-fourth of India's population was under prohibition by 1954, and in the same year, the Prohibition Enquiry Committee set April 1958 as the target to achieve national prohibition. However, the potential loss in state revenue due to loss of excise revenue from the sale of alcohol discouraged most state ...

Bhopal: Congress leaders in Madhya Pradesh have demanded Z-category security for Jashodaben, the wife of BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, on the ground that she could be a “soft target” for terrorists. State Congress spokespersons Abhay Dube and Ravi Saxena wrote a letter to Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, making the demand two days ago after Modi’s disclosure about his marital status for the first time in his election affidavit. The letter said the news that Jashodaben had gone on a pilgrimage “leads to suspicion”. If Modi was on the hit list of terrorists, Jashodaben could prove to be a soft target for them, it said.

So everybody read the headline of TOI a day before election. "40% of AAP candidates in Madhya Pradesh have criminal records, 30% are billionaires " For anyone actually interested in what the AAP candidates were booked for - dharnas and 'defacing a Rs 50 note' While BJP candidates charged with dacoity, forgery, cheating, etc. 30% AAP billionaire in the heading but for some reason not as much highlighting of 100% Cong and 84% BJP billionaires. Shameless that even PTI has fallen to such low standards of one-sided selective reporting. How cleverly PTI has chosen just the phase 5 report in which AAP had 4 candidates out of 10 with cases against them. And how cleverly they miss out that these 4 candidates include activists like Rachna Dhingra (union carbide activist) and Dr.Prashant Tripathi. Do we need to guess how many cases the government will put against people if they stand for justice? Finally why are they using percentages while talking about AAP and actual numbers for other parties? SHAMEFUL!

A true horror of modern corporate plunder. If this disaster had happened in America, monuments would have been erected, billions in damages would have been paid and the incident would have not been allowed to recede into history as it has in a primarily non-Christian nation of people of color. Who thinks this enormous disaster of recent history would have been swept aside and relatively forgotten by the rest of the world if it had happened in the United States, England or Canada? Statistics for this disaster by the American Union Carbide Company: Over 500,000 people were exposed to methyl isocyanate gas and other chemicals. The toxic substance made its way in and around the shanty towns located near the plant. Estimates vary on the death toll. The official immediate death toll was 2,259. The government of Madhya Pradesh confirmed a total of 3,787 deaths related to the gas release. Others estimate 8,000 died within two weeks and another 8,000 or more have since died from gas-related diseases. A government ...
The lies perpetuated by The Times of India | India saying 40% of the 10 AAP candidates for Madhya Pradesh have criminal records against them is abominable, and seriously insults public intelligence. Take the example of Rachna Dhingra. The case against her was for holding public protests with regards to the Bhopal gas tragedy, where the former chairman of Union Carbide, Warren Anderson, is still at large in the US. And TOI had the audacity of reporting that as 'criminal case against Rachna Dhingra'. I request Press Trust of India to take serious steps against this. Hoax media has been going on for far too long. This has to stop! Tista R

MODI’s PINK REVOLUTION Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi alleged; that the Congress was practicing “vote-bank politics” by promoting a “pink revolution” by allowing the “sin” of slaughtering animals and exporting meat and providing Rs. 50 crore subsidy for setting up slaughterhouses and exempting them from paying income tax for five years. SEE THE DIRTY POLITICS OF MODI WHILE IN HIS OWN STATE (GUJRAT) MEAT PRODUCTION DOUBLED IN 10 YEARS Bharatiya Janata Party’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi may have overlooked Gujarat’s contribution to the increase in India’s meat production during his tirade against the Congress at election rallies in Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. Data compiled by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry from Gujarat’s Pollution Control Board reveals that meat production in the State, under Mr. Modi, more than doubled in 10 years. Meena Kumari's Unknown night with Dacoit During an outdoor shooting of a Bollywood movie, the crew had to spend a night in the wilderness as their vehicles ran short of fuel. The area located in Madhya Pradesh, literally called the heart of India, was then not only infested with wild animals but was also a hotbed of highway robbers. The entire crew was inevitably taken by armed robbers who struck in the dead of the night. When the gang's kingpin discovered that the abductees were neither policemen nor members of their rival group, rather a film crew, he instantly made arrangements for a feast with music and dancing and a comfortable night’s stay for his special guests! The next morning as the group was departing; the gang leader put a humble but shocking request before the heroin. Author Vinod Mehta in his mesmeric autobiographic account of the said heroin narrates the incident, From my heroine, he wanted a special favour. He sharpened his knife and took it to her. CBI forced to probe Coal scam After severely rapping the government, the Supreme Court (SC) scrutinised coal block allocation since 1993 based on his PIL which sought cancellation of allocations on ground that rules were flouted to favour certain companies. (2) Why is Gujarat buying solar power at the price of Rs 13 per unit although Madhya Pradesh and Karnatka are buying at the rate of Rs 7.50 and Rs 5, respectively; (3) On what basis do you claim agriculture growth at 11% while your own government’s statistics says production has declined at minus 1.18% annually and revenue declined from Rs 27,815 crore in 2006-7 to Rs 25,908 crore in 2012-13? (4) Would you hand over all industries to a few big houses as two-thirds of SMEs have closed down in the last 10 years, particularly in Mehsana district (Modi’s home district) where 140 units out of 187 vanished? The Truth about Arvind Kejriwal & ‘AAP’ - the anarchists In the recently held elections to five state assemblies (Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh and Mizoram), the BJP has won 409 seats from 590 total seats in the first four states. The success ratio is 69%. It is definitely due to a Modi wave, although the Congress and the media will never admit it. The votes were counted and results declared on 8th Dec. 2013 (Sunday). Mizoram, being 97% Christians and controlled by Church, objected to Sunday, as it is a prayer day for them. Hence counting was postponed to Monday, only for Mizoram. You can understand whose writ runs in Mizoram. But our secularists of all hues are thunderously silent. Surprisingly, the newly formed Aam Adhmi Party (AAP) has got 28 seats in Delhi. Hindu Voice’s consistent view is that the Aam Adhmi Party consists of Naxalites-Maoists supporters & sympathisers. While Naxalites-Maoists are wielding weapons and live in jungle, Arvind Kejriwal & Co. are without weapons and ...

Sehwag wins series for India with record 219 The Report by George Binoy December 8, 2011 India 418 for 5 (Sehwag 219, Gambhir 67, Raina 55) beat West Indies 265 (Ramdin 96, Jadeja 3-34, Rahul Sharma 3-43) by 153 runs Scorecard and ball-by-ball details It took nearly four decades for a batsman to score the first double-century in one-day international cricket but less than two years for the second. Virender Sehwag, the batsman most touted to break Sachin Tendulkar's record for the highest individual ODI score, didn't merely break it - he shattered it and raised the bar so high that it's hard to imagine anyone, apart from Sehwag himself, raising it higher. Unlike Tendulkar in Gwalior, Sehwag wasn't running out of time as he raced towards 200 in Indore. He got there in the 44th over and had made 219 off 149 balls by the time he was dismissed in the 47th. And in one of cricket's stranger coincidences, both ODI double-centuries were scored in the same Indian state - Madhya Pradesh - at venues less than 500 kil ...
In this era of high speed internet on the go, where world has already moved on to 4G network, we in India are not only stuck on 3G but because of some issues Airtel is not even giving any new 3G connections in Madhya Pradesh. It's been more than 2 years and every time we get the same reply to wait for 2 more months in order to get 3G connection. If I am ready to pay extra for 3G connection, I don't understand the reason of not giving this service to the customer. We have a CUG connection of 60 numbers and require 3G connection on atleast 10 connections, if we don't get this, we will have no other option but to shift all 60 connections to some other carrier giving services to their customers.

With their striking coloration, white tigers are popular attractions at zoos and in other forms of entertainment that showcase exotic animals. Their white coats can be pure white, but more often they have dark stripes. Though these tigers seem exotic, they are not their own subspecies. Rather, they are a selectively bred mutant form of normal orange tigers. Because of the extreme rarity of the white tiger allele, white tigers are often inbred. Rumblings over constituencies By every account, the projection of Narendra Modi as the next Prime Minister has catapulted the Bharatiya Janata Party from nowhere to number one position in the coming general election. But try as it might, the BJP has not been able to paper over its own internal dissensions coinciding with the rising national profile of the Gujarat Chief Minister. Over the past year, Mr. Modi has incrementally asserted his authority within the BJP, bolstered by his popularity with the rank and file and the overt support he has got from the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. The Gujarat Chief Minister’s reputation as a unilateralist precedes him, and his promotion to Prime Ministerial candidate has reinforced the impression that he would have his way even at the cost of injuring the self-respect of party elders, even those who have made stellar contributions to its growth. The BJP’s founder-leader, L.K. Advani, has been overruled time and again, and Sushma Swaraj, with an impressive record in ...

GROUP NEWS : Exorcism In India, Where A Ghost Fair Lures Believers Every February, people gather in the village of Malajpur, in the state of Madhya Pradesh, for a unique ghost fair. It’s one of India’s most celebrated festivals — an ancient event where exorcists rid the body of evil spirits. Amardas believes that a ghost has taken control of her sister-in-law, Dharmati Bai, who has been shouting strange words for more than a month now. “My sister-in-law must have been possessed by a ghost,” she says. “We've come to the Malajpur ghost fair to pay our respects to the temple. They’re treating her now, and I hope she’ll be cured.” Head priest Lalji Yadav is holding a broom and starts to beat Dharmati with it. After some time, he offers her some holy water and declares that she’s now free from the evil spirit. “We catch ghosts here, and they never return to the body after we treat the patients,” the priest says. “We treat them by bringing them to the temple, then we use brooms to chas ...
What IS the Gujarat model? Can it be exported to other states, like Bihar, and Madhya Pradesh, with weak entrepreneurial spirit too?Modi’s achievements can hardly be characterized as a model. They are a continuation of momentous policy that has a history of about two centuries. Gujarat is one of the few regions of the world which has an unbroken history of entrpreneurship, botrh in production and trade. The societal incentive structure had estabilished a less iniquitous society in Gujarat where artisans, traders and industrialists enjoyed due recognition, unlike in many other parts of India. In post independence period, there was a succession of committed chief ministers, like Morarji Desai, Madhav Rao Solanki, Keshubhai Patel and others, who have all scripted continuous development. Modi was a continuation of the trend, not its initiatiator. from some webpage for those who blindly believe that gujrat has developed so much under modi...(indeed Gujrat has developed...but these figures also can't be negle ...

AAP first question to Narendra Modi (from AAP website). Being a solar power professional, I am giving full explanation to this question. Will AAP or its followers dare to say that they were wrong in asking this silly question: Question: Usage of Solar power in Gujarat was highlighted as a key achievement of the Modi government. The financials were clearly ignored? It seems that Solar power is costing much more, even more than another BJP ruled state of Madhya Pradesh? Its the same Sun right? Answer: As per National Action Plan for Climate Change (), all distribution companies are required to purchase a part of their power from renewable sources and a specific part from solar energy source. Gujarat is among the first states to ensure this compliance and procured solar power from large number of solar power developers based on a tariff order of Gujarat Energy Regulatory Commission (). One specific extract of order is listed below: "The Discoms have to procure energy from the Solar Power Projects for fulfill ...

The demand for Vidarbha's statehood, historically, is traceable to the struggle for a separate State by the people of the province of CP and Berar, who had been thrust by the British to be a part of the State of Madhya Pradesh. Their agitation resulted in the passing of a unanimous resolution in 1947 by the Madhya Pradesh legislature to grant separate statehood to Vidarbha. At about the same time, the Samyukta Maharashtra movement began its agitation for a state comprising of all Marathi speaking areas, with Bombay as its capital. This demand for Bombay as capital was born out of fear that if states were created on linguistic basis, the city of Bombay, with its overtones of Gujarati language, culture and money, migh ...

India's first river-linking project takes shape: will it revitalise BJP's fortunes? Written by Siddharth Ranjan Das | Updated: February 27, 2014 00:52 IST Bhopal: Before the general elections, the BJP-led Madhya Pradesh government has gifted the Malwa region India's first ever river-linking project to solve the problem of water scarcity there. As part of the Narmada-Kshipra link project, Narmada's water has been lifted to 350 metres and through pipelines spread over almost 49 kilometres to Kshipra river in Ujjain, about 15 kilometres from Indore. Seemandhra to be power surplus; Telangana may face deficit. Business line 21/2/14 New Delhi, FEBRUARY 21: Seemandhra, comprising Rayalaseema and Coastal Andhra, would host most of the power projects compared to Telangana after Andhra Pradesh is bifurcated. Coal-based power plants are mostly located in Seemandhra. For hydro-power plants in the undivided State, there would be a joint-management by the Godavari River Management Board and Krishna River Management Board. Some in Telangana This is part of the Bill proposing division of the State has been sent to the State Assembly, said M Sahoo, Principal Secretary (Energy) of Andhra Pradesh. However, Telangana would also have some power plants, Sahoo told Business Line. Industry watchers are drawing a parallel to the situation in 2000 when Chhattisgarh was carved out of Madhya Pradesh. The new State became power surplus because of most of the power plants were in its territory, while Madhya Pradesh went dry. Currently, Andhra Pradesh has total installed power ...
Where was VM Sudheeran in 1984 when Congress leadership gave LEADERSHIP for Mass killings and RAPE in 5 North Indian states? 1984 Delhi Anti-Sikh Pogrom refers to a 4-day pogrom that took place in various parts of India’s capital, New Delhi, causing the death of nearly 3,000 Sikhs. It followed the assassination on October 31, 1984 of Indira Gandhi, Prime Minister of India, by her two Sikh bodyguards, in revenge for Operation Blue Star. This event – probably the most deadly in the violent history of Delhi – remains highly controversial. Twenty-five years later, most of its instigators and perpetrators remain unpunished despite the claims of various survivors and human rights groups that the pogrom was orchestrated by officials of the Congress Party with the connivance of Delhi administration and police. Anti-Sikh violence was not restricted to Delhi but also took place in other Hindi-speaking heartland states like Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. This case study nonetheless focuses o ...
The opposition of the proposed PPP model in the hospitals and health services in Madhya Pradesh has been opposed by state health department principal Secretary Shri Pravir Krishn. He has taken a correct stand as health services are a fundamental right for people and by implementing the proposed PPP model the people will end up paying heavily for treatment. Not everyone would be able to afford treatment. A target has been fixed by the Planning Commission to implement this model in the 12th Five Year Plan. All like-minded people should oppose this plan as it is not in the interest of the vast majority of this country and state. I am personally against it and support the stand taken by Shri Pravir Krishn. I request Ajay Khare and Madhav Hasani of Medical Officer Association to stand for this cause.

Today i m visit GADRAWARA (M.P.) Gadarwara is the childhood home of Osho (Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh) and has become a tourist destination for American, Australian and European pilgrims as well as Indians. There is a small ashram and a few spots associated with his early life. Other well-known Gadarwarans include, Ashutosh Rana and the politician Rameshwar Neekhra, an MP in the 1984 Congress government and head of the Bar Council of Madhya Pradesh for over a decade.
Finally, after decades of organized demand for a separate state, Telangana has cleared decks to become the newest state of India. While people have divided opinion over the clauses of bill, there are certain fundamental questions which should be asked about the whole rationale of creation of new states.     How, in India historically, states have been coming into existence?    After independence, there were very few states and were based on administrative convenience. The reason to keep the number small was to stop the regional tendencies from growing especially after partition. The division was, hence, pretty much irrational.    After the famous protest for Andhra state, State Reorganisation Commission (SRC) was set up to reorganize India based on linguistic criterion. Thus newer states came into existence like Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan etc (Total 14)   Small states of North-East were results of immense diversity and continued agitation for all of them. Nagaland, for example, had a secess ...

'Cultural Diversity' is the first word that we say when someone ask us of INDIA. Living in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, do we know the cultural Diversity in MP? Accoarding to me The cultural diversity seen in MP is hard to find anywhere else. For Those who believe that They belong to Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh must visit 'Tribal Museum Bhopal'. The Tribal Museum & State Museum both are situated on the picturesque Shyamla Hills, Bhopal. Its very different from any other museums. If I have to define this Museum in 3 Words I will say - Beautiful, Great Architecture and worth visiting. For those who love Interior Designing, nothing can be best than to visit this Museum. We visit DB City many times with our friends then why not this museum?
When Punjab, Assam, UP, Madhya Pradesh were bifurcated and new states were carved out, people happily accepted it. Why now they oppose the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh? It's because the agitating vested interest leaders have vast properties and assets amassed around the capital Hyderabad and surrounding districts, beside the industrialists.

EPS: Economy, Politics and Sentiment! Economy, Politics and Sentiment will be the three pivots, which will determine market direction in the current year. And that is the theme for IIFL’s flagship institutional conference ‘Enterprising India V’ which begins today. Investors are of course curious on what lies ahead especially with respect to elections. The mood remains cautiously optimistic on hopes of a stable government post the elections. At least that’s the sentiment for now. The outlook today is a positive start however some profit booking cannot be ruled out in the second half of the day. The global markets are mixed. Asian markets were trading with a slight negative bias. The Nikkei index in Japan was down 0.7% while the Hang Seng Index in Hong Kong was trading marginally lower by 0.17% and the Shanghai stocks also edged lower by 0.3%. On the other hand, the S&P 500 and Nasdaq index in the US rose on Tuesday, following Wall Street's biggest weekly gain of the year. However, the Dow Jones fel ...

In spite of congress misdeed - I am definitely great supporter of carving our of small states and will like to see few more states carved out from Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamilnadu, Gujarat. Reason is simple small states are easier to manage and in future will provide political stability to country. As local issues like Telangana will not become national issue. What is the situation of Lalu Yadav today after Bihar split? He is literally no one, same will happen with other jokers. Stupid leaders like Karunanidhi, mamta, mulayam, mayawati will focus on their states and will not have huge say(as today) in national governance but enough to keep as deterrent. I firmly believe national government should be strong enough and not dependent on everyone or any one for daily survival.

Priorities for Telugus now: Build a new thriving city near to the coast and strive to make Hyderabad as second capital of India Now that Telangana issue is resolved to an extent, it is now time to look towards the future. 1) We need to build a thriving new city near to the coast in residual Andhra Pradesh that houses the new State Government offices and also new commercial, educational and research establishments. In South India, this new city should be able to rival the existing clusters of Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad metropolitan areas. The size of the local economy will surely support the emergence of such a city. This needs great leadership and entrepreneurial instinct among the local people i.e. the people of residual state of Andhra Pradesh. 2) Hyderabad metropolitan area is ideally suited in terms of geography to house the second capital of India. What it means is some of the Central Government departments working from New Delhi can be shifted to Hyderabad. This will ensure that a part of the ...

Please read my article "My Response to Mr.Chidambaram’s vote on Account Speech" and share your opinions. The Finance Minister presented Vote on Account estimates before the Parliament today. It was an electoral imperative for him to attempt to repackage the 10 years of the UPA. He is faced with a harsh reality. He inherited an 8.5 percent GDP growth rate. He exits on a 4.5 percent GDP growth. The last three years of the UPA witnessed a sharp fall in the growth rate from a near 9 percent to less than 5 percent. He, therefore, had to lean back on larger slogans such as his ‘Idea of India’. Obviously, in an ideologically pluralistic society, there can be more than one ‘Idea of India’. None can usurp the title of a book and claim it only belongs to him. The Finance Minister had set a laxman-rekha for himself last year. The fiscal deficit had to be brought down to 4.8 percent. He now claims to have brought it down to 4.6 percent. He achieves this spectacular feat not by bringing in revenue buoyancy . ...

Dear Yogendra Yadav.. : Adani has invested in Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Goa, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Assam apart from Gujarat. In addition to it, the Group has made investment in Indonesia for coal mining project and Australia for port and coal mining projects. It’s investments in Gujarat comprise of only 35 per cent of its total investments. Hence questioning ties between Adani group and the Gujarat CM is just nonsensical. Also all the exchanges between the Gujarat Government and the company are in public domain, unlike the AAP which holds closed door meetings in hotels with industrialists to make political deals.

At some places the poorest families are eating on alternative days. As we celebrate the 64th year of our independence, the rampant malnutrition, anemic mothers and stunted children indicate our failure to feed the empty stomachs. The International food policy research institute, Washington has placed India in the 66th position out of 88 countries for global hunger index. India ranks below all other South Asian nations, except Bangladesh; Kenya, Nigeria, Cameroon and Sudan fared better than India. India has more states under ‘alarming to extremely’ categories with Madhya Pradesh being the worst affected. No state in India is in the ‘low to moderate hunger index’ category.

WAS ASUTOSH TOO MUCH WRONG WHEN HE SAID THAT THE LG, Mr. NAJEEB JUNG IS ACTING LIKE A CONGRESS AGENT ? Please read the following excerpts ! "A 1973-batch IAS officer, Jung served in Madhya Pradesh and New Delhi before finally deciding to quit the services after a stint as Joint Secretary (Explorations) in the Union Ministry of Petroleum. But this was not before Jung played a crucial role in the privatization of the public sector Oil and Natural Gas Corporation’s Panna-Mukta oilfield that went to a consortium of Reliance-ONGC and British Gas. After quitting the IAS, Najeeb Jung joined Reliance Industries. “Mr Jung was a bright officer, but his decision to join Reliance was severely criticized within the bureaucratic circles. First as the officer in charge of explorations, you play your part that benefits a private company. And then you quit and join the same company. It was seen as very unethical, if not illegal,” said a retired bureaucrat who was himself a 1973-batch officer. Jung, after his initial ...
