59 | Luke Clark's scuffed effort just lacks the force to trouble Dave Carnell. Good counter by who got numbers forward.
22 | Luke Clark almost catches out goalkeeper Dave Carnell with an attempt that I suspect was a cross?!? Still 0-0.

Saturday the 14th of December 2014 saw the first instalment of the annual Grimsby Stormers Winter Classic match. The teams were made up of Stormers past, present and future and fairly divided by old hat John Yorston. A couple of coin tosses decided that Michael Bratley (C), John Yorston (Coach), Stian Michael Naylor, Andy Welbourne, Darren Briggs, Dave Edwards, Ricky Goon Mann, Andy Portess would be the home side with the skills of Albert "Hands" Wardle in goal. The away side would have Josh Wood in goal backed by Luke Clark (C), Jim Wood (Coach), Jamie Culyer, David Cave, Steve Drew, Richard Leahy, David Grey & Chris Griffin. The teams went to their designated changing rooms and the tactics and inspirational talks began. All that could be heard form the Home locker room was the sound of chattering teeth and early excuses while the away side were spurred on and fired up by tunes from AC/DC (the band, not the sexual preference) The teams took to the ice and the banter began. Mike "killer" Bratley led the e ...

National X-country Champ. - Herrington Country Park - Saturday 23rd Feb 2013 The above Championships were held on a very snowy and ever increasing muddy course, where the clubs Male athletes were well represented in most of the days Races. The day started off really well with a battling performance from Joe Armstrong in the U/15 Boys race when finishing in 10th position, (3rd Northern athlete) he was well backed up by Tom Mount, Joe Kirk, Joe Kirtley and Nathan Linsley who are reletively new to the club/sport this season, who I,m sure found it a great experience for future competitions. The Team finish 15th (7th Northern) again an improvement on there Northern performance. Our U/17 Men were next to brave the elements and they also represented the club well, the Team finished 11th overall (3rd Northern) with Luke Clark finishing in a creditable 24th position, he was duly backed up by Adam Barr, James Cripwell, and Greg Chambers. The U/20 Men toed the line looking to carry on from there success in winning t ...

Sunday 9th December 2012 U16s Surrey division 1 league match Ironsides v Old Alleynians (Ironsides won 38-6; report by Luke Clark) It has been a rather frustrating season so far – this was only the A team's fourth match, and their second league game, and so it was just a relief to finally have a game again. And what’s more, we were nearly at full strength, a 21-strong squad giving the coaches some difficult selection choices. There must be some bad Ironsides players out there somewhere, but I've yet to see them. We spoke before the game about playing with a bit of structure and, while a wobbly second quarter of the game stood out for a lot of the spectators, this shouldn't overshadow what was a very strong first ten minutes from the Ironsides. The forwards, marshalled effectively by Matthew White-Pettigrew (MWP), were finally starting to operate in groups, whether it was in tackling, ball carrying or rucking. This allowed us to retain possession over several phases and create holes out wide for the b ...
