Luc Besson doesn't know how to do a bad film...
I love Lockout, but if it was "based on an original idea by Luc Besson", they wouldn't have lost a lawsuit from John Carpenter.
Turns out it's impossible to find Luc Besson's Taxi in US, the original series. 😐

Tried to watch "Lucy," but I guess Luc Besson last looked at a science magazine in 1975? We learned some stuff since then.
True story I came up with that movie and Luc Besson stole it from me.
Luc Besson is very close to becoming one of my favourite film people. And Angel-A is still one of my favourite films.

Jonesy, did you know that Bridget Fonda's Point of No Return was an American version of Luc Besson's La Femme Nakita?
Lucy was a solid 6/10. Total schlock, but executed in a fun way. Luc Besson is the French Roger Corman.
At this point I think a better Luc Besson project is Kiss of the Dragon(Jet Li,Bridget Fonda),..pretty violent, but great fight sequences.
Lucy (the Luc Besson film) is a pile of utter tripe, isn't it? Scarlett Johansson is good, but she can't save a rubbish script...
Finally saw Lucy (2014). Two thoughts: 1. *** was that French. 2. Luc Besson made a better (sorta) adaptation of Akira than Warner Bros. can ever hope to make.

Lucy is a 2014 French science fiction action film directed, written and edited by Luc Besson, and produced by Europacorp. The film was shot in Taipei, Paris and New York City. It stars Scarlett Johansson, Morgan Freeman, Amr Waked and Choi Min-sik. Johansson portrays the title character, a woman who gets psychic abilities from a nootropic drug being absorbed into her bloodstream. The film was released on July 25, 2014, and became a box office success, grossing $313.4 million against a budget of $40 million, and taking the spot for the third highest-grossing opening for a female-driven action film, behind Wanted and Lara Croft: Tomb Raider.[5] It received mainly positive, but also polarizing, critical reviews, with praise for Johansson's performance, entertaining or intriguing themes and visuals, and criticism for having a nonsensical and convoluted plot, especially its focus on the ten percent of brain myth and resulting abilities. -- What If we could use 100% brain on a daily basis -- Movie is unbeliveab ...

Taken from the film Soundtrack of “Lucy”, directed by Luc Besson. (p) 2014 EuropaCorp Available on August 4th (CD/Digital) Preorder here :
"Lucy" was... hmmm... I dunno. Quite a mixed bag of feelings. It started off as okay, then went to whoa the next moment, then off to WOW the following moment, and finally ended up with a "what effing bullcrap is this?" moment. Luc Besson tried to be cerebral (pun intended) mindblowing with the philosophical aspect of the entire movie (brains vs humanity struggle) but somehow fell short of something I can't quite put my finger on. Like going on a one-loop rollercoaster and ending up coasting painfully slowly to the station. Do I even make sense?

Just watched "Lucy" at the cinema, starring Scarlett Johansson, Morgan Freeman & Choi Min-Sik. Excellent movie with great acting, special effects, humor, action and a simple yet deep message to all of humanity. Luc Besson writes and directs yet another masterpiece of a movie. Looking forward to the Blu-ray release. This one is definitely a keeper. Watch it and be inspired.
Evening, all! In an hour at 6.55pm, we're screening Luc Besson's The Extraordinary Adventures of Adele Blanc-Sec:
Just saw the movie Lucy and this scene where she showed a car being driven and if you speed up the car, at some point you won't see the car coz it's so fast. And she said "time" is the only true unit of measure, it gives proof to the existence of matter, without time, we don’t exist. That scene got me to remember about Oppenheimer who quoted from bhagavad gita about " ... death, destroyer of the worlds" while watching the first experiment of atomic bomb. (Note: Oppenheimer was chief scientist for Manhattan Project who reads bhagavad gita in sanskrit). Another scientist on manhattan project, Freeman Dyson, quoted this verse from Yeats in his book: I would spread the cloths under your feet: But I, being poor, have only my dreams; I have spread my dreams under your feet; Tread softly because you tread on my dreams. And I thought, even at the pinnacle of science, liberal arts, literature etc are still important. No wonder that our spiritual masters, passed down knowledge to us sometimes in a literary form t ...
Luc Besson isn't up for a Lucy sequel:
Luc Besson's Lucy looks like a fun romp, but I really can't forgive the repetition of the "only 10% of our brains" pseudoscience ***
*LUCY FILM REVIEW/ RELEASE DATE: 22 AUGUST 2014* Luc Besson’s latest directorial effort, ‘Lucy’ destroyed the US box office a couple of weeks ago and shocked everyone by taking $17 million in it’s opening weekend, way above Hercules, which was a shock at the time. ‘Lucy’ has now gone on to earn a credible amount of money and has been impressing. In what seems like an ordinary film, with not much potential at all, ‘Lucy’ offers some breath-taking visuals and generally, a very enjoyable film. Scarlett Johansson stars as the title role ‘Lucy’, who is kidnapped by Japanese mobsters who then use her to ship a bag of this new drug called CPH4 inside her stomach, while on her travels, the bag splits inside her. The contents of the bag circulate around her body and unlock the ability to access her brain to full capacity, to which she uses to full effect to hunt down her captors. Personally, Luc Besson has not delivered a good directorial film since ‘Leon: The Professional’, and if you know ...

Morgan Freeman shows up as if it were a special episode of THROUGH THE WORMHOLE. Well... it does fit! And I do like Morgan Freeman! Although Scarlett is much better for looking at. Both great actors. Has a touch of the feel of Kill Bill, but with way more logic and some spiffy effects. I did indeed enjoy it.

Luc Besson's "Lucy" was entertaining enough. ScarJo's face is detailed in a plethora of fine close-ups. Eric Serra's soundtrack was strong.

Here's a clip, featurette, and batch of pictures from Luc Besson's 'Lucy', in which Scarlett Johansson does drugs and gets superpowers.
Luc Besson makes a good looking movie, and some cool action was definitely in there. But I felt it didn't really add up to anything.
maybe he really likes Capital One and she really wanted to work with Luc Besson
Luc Besson's new movie LUCY is brain-dead on arrival:
Anyone else thing that Lucy (new Luc Besson movie) is partly a rip off of Elfen Lied? Pascal and I are kind of upset about that.
Three new movie clips for Luc Besson's LUCY starring Scarlett Johansson and Morgan Freeman.
Bet they're real upset that NatRev feels this way. WoodyAllen, Luc Besson, and Jonathan Demme not in top form.
The thriller Lucy is one of the most beguiling mainstream releases I can recall. It either has nothing to say or has everything to say; it is either hopelessly retrograde or blisteringly critical and forward-thinking; it either indulges in pointless side plots or disguises commentary in impressively delicate code. And I’m not sure writer/director Luc Besson knows any better than I do which way is up. The title character (Scarlett Johansson) begins the film as a vapid party hound, loosely entangled with a low-level errand boy for Taiwanese gangsters. When she’s forced into drug smuggling after a botched delivery job, high quantities of a mystery substance leak into her system — granting her superhuman abilities and a supernatural perception of the world around her and, eventually, the fabric of reality. It reads like the setup of a dozen superhero flicks and it’s based on some comic-book misconceptions about science (namely, the myth about people only using 10% of their mental capacity). But Lucy d ...
.Luc Besson, and Jonathan Demme are not in top form.
Yo who in Chicago wants to find me tickets to the Nugent concert and go see the new ScarJo/Luc Besson joint? This is my version of Tindr.
NYT: 'Luc “Lucy” turns [starlet] from cheerful young woman into killing machine.' So... you're saying it's a Besson movie then.
There's a certain story arc that just about every Luc Besson film has in common, and 'Lucy' is the logical next step in this formula.
