Snap all ties with Israel ‘ demands Asaduddin Owaisi. AIMIM leader and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi demanded India to snap all diplomatic tieswith Israel and provide relief to the victims. Uproar was witnessed today in the Lok Sabha as several parties got together to demand a Resolution to condemn Israeli raids in Gaza Strip but the government did not oblige. Members of Congress, Trinamool Congress and PDP staged a walkout after the government said ithas no intention of bringing a resolution to condemn Israeli raids as any action by the government “should not have any implications”. Parties like Congress, Trinamool Congress, PDP,IUML, Left, SP, NCP and AIMIM created uproar as they were demanding that the government bring resolution condemning Israeli action and articulate its voice against the killings in Gaza Strip at the United Nations. Responding to this, Parliamentary Affairs Minister M Venkaiah Naidu said, “I have noted the views expressed by the members.” Ruling out any resolution, he sai ...
Cong fails in opposing role The Congress Party was mauled in the Lok Sabha elections because it lacked a credible leadership and was rudderless. One would have expected that it would learn some lessons from its abject failure and emerge chastened in the aftermath of the results as an opposition party of substance. Had it endeavoured to knit the opposition together and put up a strong front in the early days of the 16th Lok Sabha, it would have redeemed itself and looked capable of turning the tables on the NDA in the foreseeable future. But a month-and-a-half down the line after the crushing defeat, it looks as vulnerable as it ever did. What symbolises and reaffirms the failure of its leadership is the manner in which it opposed the ordinance and then the Bill to remove legal hurdles in the appointment of former Telecom Regulatory Authority of India chief Nripendra Misra as Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister. Moving the Bill, Minister for Law and Telecom Ravi Shankar Prasad said the focus of the m ...

"In addition, guidelines for implementation of e-waste rules 2011 have been formulated," he said. Javadekar said monitoring of compliance of authorisation and registration conditions fall under the purview of state polution control boards but no large scale violation of the e-waste management and handling rules by industrial units and public enterprises has been reported to the Ministry. BJP to form govt in Delhi, Jagdish Mukhi front-runner for CM's post? BJP party is looking to form gov in Delhi. BJP MLAs held a meeting at party's Delhi office today morning amid reports that independents and the lone JD(U) MLA may be willing to support the govt. BJP is open to the idea of forming the gov but they remained tight-lipped on possibilities being explored to get adequate numbers to stake claim. Party had won 31 seats in the Delhi Assembly polls of December last year but its number has come down to 28 in the 70-member house after three of its MLAs -- Harsh Vardhan, Ramesh Bidhuri and Pervesh Verma -- were elected to Lok Sabha in the recent General Elections. The party has the support of the lone Shiromani Akali Dal MLA. Newly appointed Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay on forming the government in Delhi said that the party is ready to take the plunge, nearly six months after refusing citing lack of majority. Meanwhile, reports are also doing the rounds that the BJP is considering its Janakpu ...

PDP stages protest against Gaza carnage in Lok Sabha New Delhi: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Parliamentarians continued their protest in the Lok Sabha for the second consecutive day Tuesday seeking immediate end to innocent killings in Gaza. The party moved an adjournment motion in the House seeking a discussion on the Gaza crisis. As the Lok Sabha convened this morning, PDP members Mehbooba Mufti and Tariq Hameed Karra got up from their seats urging the Speaker that the House should adopt a resolution condemning continued Israeli aggression in Gaza that has led to more than 170 innocent deaths. Holding placards PDP MPs marched towards the well of the House and staged a sit-in there. They were later joined by the members of MIM, Congress, TMC, CPI (M), Samajwadi Party and others in their demand for seeing an end to Israeli aggression. OPPOSITION PARTIES FAVORING ANARCHISM AND AUTOCRATIC FUNCTIONING OF THE Modi Govt. * The Indians got an opportunity to observe, some un-precedents moves, in the Modi Govt.'s regime, at least, they could be hold, as best followers of the British Principle of “Divide and Rule”, when the Modi Govt. were able to divide the Opposition parties, on the issue of the Amendment, made for the inclusion of the retired IAS and Chief of TRAI, Mr. Nripen Mishra, as Principal Secretary to the PM. Though, the Modi Govt. have passed the amendment Bill, in the Lok Sabha, but several media’s have expressed their doubt that, in view of the short in numbers of BJP’s MP’s in the Upper House, the Modi Govt. will fail to pass the Amendment Bill, in the Rajaya Sabha, but now, it is not happening so, in wake of divided opposition parties, in the Upper House. It is really hard for the people of India to understand the Indian politics; it is because of the fact that orthodox political party’s lack of vision and the princ ...

Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi Summoned by Bhiwandi Court:: Mumbai: A local court in Bhiwandi has issued summons to Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi for his comments on the Rashtriya Swyamsevak Sangh (RSS) during an election rally in the area during the Lok Sabha elections this year. The summons were issued after a RSS worker Rajesh Kunte filed a case on March 18. Mr Gandhi, 44, had told supporters in an election rally on March 6 that the RSS had a role to play in Mahatma Gandhi's assassination in 1948. Mr Gandhi had said that the RSS was behind Mahatma Gandhi's assassination and Sardar Patel had written about it as well. The court had asked for a police report and after studying the report the court has summoned Mr Gandhi on October 7.
Rahul and Sonia Gandhi get zilch; Rajnath, Modi favoured The NDA government seemed to have enforced its dominance over the Congress in its Budget presentation on Thursday, with Central projects moving away from the constituencies of the Gandhis and into that of Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley put his constituency of Amritsar on the list of beneficiary districts, while not announcing even a single development scheme for Raebareli and Amethi, the respective seats of Congress President Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul Gandhi. The "National Heritage City Development and Augmentation Yojana” is to benefit Amritsar through the conservation of heritage centres across six identified cities. During his speech in the Lok Sabha, Jaitley announced a "Trade Facilitation Centre” and a "Crafts Museum” for Modi’s Varanasi constituency. To back these projects, the minister proposed a Rs 50-crore outlay to promote the holy city’s rich tradition of weaving ...

Rediff live: 13:19 Why do you keep Jaya's photos in your pockets, Modi asks AIADMK MPs: Our mole in Parliament tells us that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was curious when he spotted Tamil Nadu CM J Jayalalithaa's photographs peeping out of the pockets of 48 AIADMK MPs. Modi was in the Central Hall of Parliament, on his way to the Rajya Sabha from the Lok Sabha. He asked an AIADMK MP about the pictures and it was Dr V Maitreyan, Leader of the Rajya Sabha, who stepped forward and answered Modi's question. Maitreyan, who answered in Hindi, said the photograph was a token of the reverence and respect with which the MPs held their leader. They said it's their way of keeping 'Amma' close to their hearts. The question is, will BJP MPs now take a page of this book of sycophancy and carry Modi's pictures? Wait and watch.
C-H-A-K-R-A-V-Y-U-H-A --- T-E-A-M (NYAYA, NEETI, DARMA) PAPA PUNYA YELLA PUSTAKADA BADANE KAAYI- During the Lok Sabha elections, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi promised to bring down prices. But instead of fulfilling his promise, one of his first major policy decisions as Prime Minister has been to hike rail fares. His government has increased passenger fares by 14.2%, the highest ever in our history, and freight charges by 6.5%. This move would fuel inflation and is against every promise he made in the election campaign. Higher freight charges will drive up the price of coal which will, in turn, make electricity more expensive. The already high prices of fruits and vegetables will rise even further. The fare hike could not have come at a more inappropriate time. Food prices are already on the rise. Global crude oil prices are increasing because of the conflict in Iraq, which will further push up inflation in India. Shri Modi politicised the issue of inflation and spared no opportunity in attacking e . ...

Narendra Modi misguided people during LS poll: Congress New Delhi, July 2: The Congress on Tuesday attacked the NDA government over "rising" prices of essential commodities and accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of "misguiding" people during the Lok Sabha polls campaign by claiming that he would "solve all the problems" if voted to power. "Modi misguided people of the country by claiming that all problems will be resolved," Congress general secretary Shakeel Ahmed told reporters here. "Prices of petrol, diesel, gas cylinder have gone up and there has been a hike in train fares after Modi became Prime Minister. Not even a single commodity has become cheaper," he said. His comments came a day after the petrol price was hiked by Rs 1.69 per litre and diesel by 50 paise a litre. He took potshots at Modi saying that after becoming the Prime Minister he had gone "silent." "Modi has gone silent now and it appears his speech too had become costlier," Ahmed said. Jun 30 2014 : The Times of India (Lucknow) Scramble in BJP for UP bypoll tickets - Wanting To Ride Modi Wave, Biggest Rush For Lucknow(E) - The Narendra Modi wave that swept Uttar Pradesh and got the BJP 73 seats in the Lok Sabha polls is now drawing a swarm of ticket-seekers for the byelections to the seats that fell vacant when party MLAs bagged parliamentary seats. Party sources say the number of such aspirants is close to 300 now. Eleven BJP MLAs who won the Lok Sabha elections have vacated their assembly constituency seats. Finance ministry may double tax exemption limit under 80C to Rs 2 lakh New Delhi: Seeking to boost household savings, the finance ministry is considering doubling the exemption limit for investments by individuals in financial instruments to Rs 2 lakh. Presently the investments and expenditures up to a combined limit of Rs 1 lakh get exemptions under Sections 80C, 80CC and 80 CCC of the Income-Tax Act. Sources said the revenue department is assessing the burden on the exchequer in case of increase in the benefit limit. The announcement is expected in the Budget. The budget for 2014-15 will be presented by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in the Lok Sabha on July 10. There have been demands from bankers and insurers to hike the tax exemption limit from Rs 1 lakh per annum to encourage household savings. You like the candidate you press the button in front of the party’s symbol to vote on electronic voting machines. Now if you do not like the entire list of candidates you have an option of NOTA or ‘None of the Above’. Voters have all rights to press this option if they wish to reject all the political parties contesting the elections. So instead of sitting at home just go and show your wish.Earlier the citizens of India were not provided with the option NOTA but in 2009 the Election Commission stated its desire to the Supreme Court to add NOTA at the ballet. Government opposed NOTA as this was one of the ways to dilute the number of votes. On the contrary the Supreme Court of India ordered to add the option on 27 September 2013 with a belief that it will definitely increase the number of voters. The orders were passed by a bench headed by Chief Justice P Sathasivam. In 2014 Lok Sabha elections, 814 million people are eligible to vote for 543 constituencies in 9.3 lakh polling stations and for the fi ...
With the point of view of assembly elections after massive defeat in the Lok Sabha polls, the Congress-NCP government has approved 16% reservation for Marathas and 5% for Muslims in government jobs and education institutions. Thus reservation in jobs and educational institutions in Maharashtra will go up to 73%.A questions rises about it whether the new quota would stand legal in view of the Supreme Court judgments of 50% limit on reservations,Actually CM Mr Chavan know very well,Proposed reservation is against fundamental principle of constitution.SC would quash it in single word.He is making fool maratha and muslim voters. This Cong NCP'S move is likely to be proved worthless in coming assembly Poll.

Listening to 4 icons of these challenging times – Ang San Sue Kyi, Kuldeep Nayar, Chunibhai Vaidya and Arvind Kejriwal It has been a period of serious introspection and interactions since 16th May when India was old that the elections for Lok Sabha – 2014 have resulted into a clear madate in favour of Shri Narendra Modi led Bharatiya Janata Party and its allies. Most of them have taken place in New Delhi. Some of them were initiated by me in North –east Delhi Lok Sabha parliamentary constituency which gave me Four Lakh and Fifty two thousand votes and made the eminent congress candidate loose his deposit. It is another matter that this did not alter the fact that it was not sufficient to get elected as a Bollywood Bhojpuri film star got Five Lakh Ninety Thousand votes as successful BJP candidate. There have been three workshop at JNU by Chatra Yuva Sanghrsh Samiti about it. Some questions regarding Mission Vistaar: 1. If a booth covers multiple villages then should there be multiple booth leaders (one for each village falling under that booth)? 2. Will the booth leaders elect the Vidhan Sabha and the Lok Sabha constituency convenors/candidates? 3. Will the Vidhan Sabha and the Lok Sabha constituency convenors/candidates be selected from amongst the booth leaders or can an external person be selected? 4. Can the opinion of booth leaders be totally overruled in the selection of convenors/candidates? Who if anyone has the right to veto/bypass the choice of booth leaders? 5. To prevent the culture of power mongering to set in the party, shouldn't the post of convenors be rotational and for a specific time period only.. say 6 months or 1 year?

Please share The Graceless Nehru-Gandhis: Devoid of Democratic Etiquette, Bharatiyata Finally, many days after the declaration of results in the Lok Sabha election, we are told that the Congress President, Ms.Sonia Gandhi has congratulated Mr.Narendra Modi. But, there is nothing in this for us to cheer about. We gather that the letter is an extremely brief one-liner which appears to have been grudgingly written just to fulfil a formality and enable sympathetic contemporary commentators and the hordes of historians owing allegiance to the Nehru-Gandhis to use this as a fig leaf to defend the family. Even as the results poured in on May 16, leaders from across the globe reached out to India’s Prime Minister designate and congratulated him on his spectacular electoral victory. Kejriwal and Vishwas spent Rs 1 cr in polls: They had set out with a message that they are the aam aadmi (common man), but a look at their expense chart in the recently concluded Lok Sabha election points otherwise. Shashi Tharoor You write good. But do you write only about BJP? You appreciated Modi on a channel, Mani wrote nasty about you. Fearing bigger blow from other quarters and to remain in the good books of Mani, you wrote "on the advice given by Modi to young Foreign Service elects". Then you wrote about Govt. vs Governers. Even though, the Modi Govt. decision is nothing different from 2004 UPA decision, you cited moral, ethical, propriety, constitutional validity etc.for writing that. May I expect another article from you regarding " former MPs not vacating their official accommodation given by Lok Sabha despite many warnings given to them and many of them are Cong. MPs". This is hitting the news every day and you are keeping silent. "Moral, Ethical, Propriety" etc are irrelevant here???

Arvind Kejriwal,Ajay Rai spent more than Modi in Varnasi, source Indian Express. In Varanasi, cash-strapped Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal ran a spirited campaign against Narendra Modi and went on to spend as much as half a crore rupees, but, as is now history, lost to him by a huge margin of 3.71 lakh votes. With major parties having submitted their campaign expenditure in Varanasi, AAP and Congress have outdone Modi on this front. According to the details submitted to the district administration, Ajay Rai of the Congress splurged the most at Rs 54.45 lakh while AAP spent Rs 50.10 lakh and BJP Rs 37.62 lakh during the Lok Sabha polls for Varanasi seat. Monday was the last day of submitting election expenditure by the parties; the last day for submission is counted a month after the elections draw to a close.

Early Times Report JAMMU, June 19: Will Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who is also working president of the National Conference (NC), re-seek election from Ganderbal Assembly constituency to establish that he continues to enjoys the confidence of the people he has been representing since 2009 and prove that he is a bold politician who doesn't mind taking risks? The answer appears to be a no. A report from Srinagar clearly suggests that Omar Abdullah is not confident of his victory in Ganderbal, once considered the stronghold of the Abdullah family, and that he is in search of a "safer constituency". "Chief Minister Omar Abdullah would not contest Legislative Assembly polls from Ganderbal, the Assembly segment he represents, but from Sonawar and Hazratbal constituencies," a report said, adding that the "decision to this effect was taken during the nine- hour Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting". Interestingly, the meeting, which took place on Wednesday, was chaired by none other than Omar Abdullah himse ...

Parliament canteen: Only place where you can get a hearty meal close to Rs12?.. The gap between the actual cost and what MPs, journalists and others have to pay, is bridged with a food budget set aside by parliament. "Over Rs.5.3 crore has been allocated during the current financial year for the canteens. The Lok Sabha pays some Rs.3.55 crore and the Rajya Sabha shares the amount to over Rs.1.77 crore," said an official several years ago. "Not only MPs, we serve food to everybody who is allowed inside parliament. They also include workers, gardeners and labourers," the official said, defending the low prices. There are 10 canteens in the Parliament complex, whose annual food bill comes to over Rs 8 crore.

DREAM NEWS L.K. Advani to be the next Leader of Opposition In a shocking move today, the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP)-led government urged Sumitra Mahajan, the Lok Sabha Speaker, to comply with the Congress and have a leader of opposition (LOP). This decision came in the aftermath of the meeting held between Rahul Gandhi and the top BJP leaders. The BJP leaders had earlier insisted on only the presence of Rahul Gandhi from the opposition. The surprise does not end there. The BJP leaders laid down some terms and conditions according to which the LOP should be selected. Rahul Gandhi was so excited about having a LOP that he accepted them without listening to any of it. The terms were: 1. L.K. Advani should be made the Leader of Opposition. 2 .L.K. Advani should be accommodated in the Congress Party. 3. Rahul Gandhi should declare himself as the Congress prime-ministerial candidate for the 2019 elections. Top Congress leaders were aghast with Rahul Gandhi’s decision but Sonia Gandhi intervened and threatene ...

Mayank Gandhi describes the nomination procedure for Lok Sabha elections in Airoli office of Aam Aadmi Party on 16th January 2014.
Atul Kumar 7 hrs · Edited As per AAP, it had around 30 something crore of funds to contest recent Lok Sabha elections. With 430+ candidates, each candidate's share should've been around 8 Lakh (actually less than that because party will also spend on some common things and also to maintain offices and full time staff etc plus some money will be spared for immediate future expenses to run the party). Then how come Kejriwal got 50 Laks to spend on his campaign in Varanasi? As per his own statement, he arrived in Varanasi with just Rs 500 of his personal funds.
Do not hurry. Wait. Gradually use Tamil stooges to fix public opinion about the "inferiority" of DMK and ADMK - "inferiority" of any sort conceivable: "corruption", "inefficiency", "slow growth", etc. Once fixed, appear as the messiahs of cleanliness and efficiency. Get a majority in the Tamil Nadu assembly and Lok Sabha elections. Then, hoist Hindi flag in Chennai without any pomp and gaiety; buy all dissenters out. This is the Aryan plan for Tamil Nadu.
Long Live Comrade Sushil Roy! Comrade Sushil Roy, veteran leader of the CPI(Maoist), passed away this morning while in a prison hospital. He was the seniormost leader of the CPI(Maoist), and a leader of the undivided CPI, and later MCC as well, before the formation of the CPI(Maoist). The septuagenarian Comrade Sushil Roy had been purposefully ill-medicated to deteriorate his health, but imperialism today is on the backfoot wherever his political descendants are advancing the people's war. I met Comrade Sushil Roy in the AIMS hospital a couple of months ago .He was in a terrible condition but his mental powers were so strong that he made an amazing recovery for some time.He battled death like a soldier.Sadly his health had another reversal from the 1st week of May. Rahul turns 44, on par with Congresss LS strength: Rahul Gandhi turns 44 today, the same as the Congress partys strength in the 16th Lok Sabha. The party Vice President is abroad, even as party men are reportedly making plans to celebrate his birthday back home, in absentia. But not everything is as hunky-dory as it seems or sounds. Within the party there is growing restiveness over his lack of involvement with the partys affairs. Insiders narrate one incident last week, when Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge was defending the UPA government during the debate on the Presidents address to Parliament. At a time when he should have been thumping the desks in Kharges support, Gandhi, it is said, was busy taking out the battery from his BlackBerry, wiping it clean with his handkerchief and putting it back into the phone. Who knows, maybe he was trying to phone a friend, remarked a Senior Congress leader wryly.

TAINTED GOVERNORS CAN BE REMOVED 11:20 What the Supreme Court says on removal of governors : As the second governor resigns, take a look at what the Supreme Court says on governors. In 2010, a constitutional bench of the Supreme Court interpreted these provisions and laid down some binding principles (B.P. Singhal v. Union of India). In this case, the newly elected central government had removed the Governors of Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Haryana and Goa in July, 2004 after the 14th Lok Sabha election. When these removals were challenged, the Supreme Court held: The President, in effect the central government, has the power to remove a Governor at any time without giving him or her any reason, and without granting an opportunity to be heard. However, this power cannot be exercised in an arbitrary, capricious or unreasonable manner. The power of removing Governors should only be exercised in rare and exceptional circumstances for valid and compelling reasons. The mere reason that a Governor is at variance w . ...

“ No need for LOP in Lok Sabha ” - The Congress party seeking LOP status to its leader in LS, transgressing the Rule book , merits derision. There was no LOP in LS from 1952 to 1969, and again from 1979-89(Total 27 years ) and the Parliamentary democracy continued. The UPA never respected the institution of LOP.How did Manmohan Singh and P Chidambaram bypass the dissenting note recorded by Sushma Swaraj ,the then LOP(LS) and proceeded to appoint PJ Thomas as the CVC despite his integrity being under the cloud. The appointment had to be finally struck down by the Supreme Court as extraneous considerations,it was noticed, had outplayed all ethical considerations. In view of Congress’s dubious track records and fractured mandate , it will be mindless to associate it with selection of anti-corruption heads like CVC,CBI and Lokpal? Having effective Opposition, even though fragmented, is more crucial than having the LOP. Exhibiting magnanimity and empathy for the Congress at this juncture, w ...

Nitish ji you have really let us down by joining hands with parties which have literally brought Bihar on the verge of collapse and again you have proved that there is nothing bigger than opportunism in politics. You were considered by millions like us as a ray of hope for the development and upliftment of bihar but you have proved us wrong. It seems that development of Bihar is just a slogan for you to get the maximum vote share and you are more interested in your personal agenda than development of bihar. We are still the most backward state in india leave aside the world. In the past few months you have undone lot of good work that you and your government had done in the last decade i.e creating a sense of pride and a hope that this state can also develop but now that hope is also getting dashed. You have again started the age old practices of getting vote in the name of caste, religion, poverty etc. but it will lead you nowhere and by following this old equation u r doing more harm than good to yourself and ...

In the first test of the BJP in the above matter, is the BJP not behaving just like the Congress ? Why is it steadfastly refusing to ask MoS Nihal Chand Meghwal, who has been issued a notice to appear before a court on 20 Aug in a case of rape and sexual exploitation of a then 17 year old young girl,to step down ? Moreover the woman has now alleged that she has received threats to withdraw her case. And the Minister is avoiding the press and refusing to answer any questions or give his side of the story. And the silence of the BJP women MPs is deafening. In the interest of morality and propriety and to ensure a fair probe and trial, should the Minister not be asked to step down? Why is the PM risking his own reputation and that of his party, by not removing the Minister ? While seeking votes, ...

19 complaints against newspapers including Dainik Jagran on alleged paid news | 0 | | The Press Council of India has received 19 complaints from various persons, including an MP Kunwar Manvendra Singh, against newspapers accusing them of publishing paid news, government said today. This was disclosed by Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni in a written reply to a question raised in Lok Sabha. Complaints were raised against Dainik Jagran, Hindustan, The Tribune, The Hindu, Dinamalar, Dainik Bhaskar, Punjab Kesari, Dinakaran, Tamil Murasu, Daily Thanthi, Maalai Malar and Amar Ujala, she said. She said there have been a number of media reports that sections of the electronic and print media have received monetary considerations for publishing or broadcasting in favour of particular individuals or organisations or corporate entities for what is essentially "advertisement disguised as news". Soni said a Group of Ministers has been constituted to examine the report on 'Paid News' prepared by Press ...
Arun Jaitley, VK Singh, Uma Bharti, Kiran Rijiju, Kalraj Misra, Jewel Oraon… These are some Union Ministers who are unable to work properly because former Congress ministers and MPs who have lost the recent elections are not vacating the bungalows that were allotted to them during the last term of the Lok Sabha. The minister who is perhaps the most hassled is Jaitley, who is preparing the Budget out of his own house in Kailash Colony, which is not designed to entertain a bevy of delegates that he must talk to at this stage. Gen VK Singh is finding it difficult to operate from Ashoka Hotel, which cannot cater for his ministry's needs. Uma Bharti is making do in a State guest house. Some ministers are putting up at their respective relatives' places. Some are adjusting in MP hostels. In keeping with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's tough image, he must unleash the police force on the losers to evict them from the premises that they are immorally still occupying. From Surajit Dasgupta's wall.
Sirsa-based rape survivor: “Frightening visitors“ told her uncle on Friday night that unless the case is withdrawn, development funds would dry up in her village in Sirsa after assembly elections if BJP and INLD join hands and come to power in the state. The 21-year-old alleged that in the past 48 hours local leaders and several villagers have told her family to drop the charges. “They say that it was certain I would never get married again, but I should allow them to live peacefully ,“ she told TOI. Can BJP win 44 out of 87 seats in Jammu & Kashmir? The answer seems a firm NO at the moment. Jammu has 37 seats , Ladakh 4 and Kashmir Valley 46. If Lok Sabha results of Jammu-Udhampur-Laddkah is kept as benchmark and if BJP improves upon it, it can easily win 30 seats in Jammu (Remaining 7 would go to Congress (3), Panthers Party (3) and others(1)) In laddkah, BJP could win 2 out of 4 (victory margin was too slim), 1 by Congress, 1 by others. In Kashmir valley however BJP has no foot print. Out of 46 seats, PDP might well win 28, National Conference another 14. Congress may just win 3 while others and independents remaining 1. So Total comes as: BJP 32, PDP 28, NC 14, Congress 7, Others 6. Despite being single largest party, BJP would struggle to form govt. due to its stand on Article 370. Even if it manages to squeez the remaining half dozen seats in Jammu, it would be really tough for BJP to form government. However if 1 takes a close look, PDP would get half as many votes as BJP (6.5 lakhs vs 13 lakhs ...
Return of KPs Posted on 14/06/2014 by Dailyexcelsior Men, Matters & Memories M L Kotru Heard that before. Perish the thought. Heard it before that Kashmiri Pandits who left the valley en mass in 1990 will return home and be resettled, for good. But this one is with a difference. Narendra Modi, the man who made it to the Prime Ministerial office, with a landslide win, is saying it. Yes, it’s a commitment he made in his government’s policy statement which President Pranab Mukherjee enunciated at the newly constituted parliament’s joint session the other day. His is no tokenism. Whether it works or not is another matter. Will the three lakh and more Pandits be able to find their moorings once more? Personally, I doubt it but Modi is a different kettle of fish as is his freshly reinvigorated party which has set a new 30-year high by securing a majority in the Lok Sabha on its own. The Pandits, do I have to tell you, were forced out of the valley after Pakistani Jihadi terrorists hit the State on an unpr ...

Mukherjee, Modi are India’s new hyperpower duo, A common belief in the need for a focus on the economy is a factor binding President Mukherjee & PM Modi. Authoritative sources in govt say that when Narendra Damodardas Modi called on President Pranab Mukherjee at Rashtrapati Bhawan after securing a majority for his party in the Lok Sabha, his first words were, "You wanted a stable government, and now you have got that". This was greeted by a warm smile on the President's face. It was true that PranabDa, as he has affectionately been known by the people for four decades, had warned the nation of the perils of instability both in his 2013 Independence Day address as well as during this year's Republic Day speech. The President had in his speeches placed emphasis on the need for a stable government, implicitly asking voters to ensure that a party — any party — returned to office with a majority on its own. President's comments did not go unnoticed by Modi, who mentioned it more than once in his campaign ...

On June 5, Abhishek Shukla, 29, a former IT professional, met Arvind Kejriwal at his Tilak Lane home in central Delhi. In 2011, Shukla had quit his job as an analyst with Religare to join the anti-corruption movement led by his hero. He became district secretary of the fledgling Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) Noida chapter and was one of the thousands of volunteers who worked for the party during the Delhi Assembly and Lok Sabha elections. Shattered by the magnitude of the defeat-AAP won just four of the 434 Lok Sabha seats it contested-and disappointed by the emergence of a powerful coterie around Kejriwal, he told the party chief he was quitting. The AAP leader, sitting in his lawn, his lips pursed and his stance defensive, was unmoved. "Where were you when we won 28 seats in Delhi?" he shot back. Shukla wanted to know why the party did not win in the remaining 42 Assembly seats. The discussion was inconclusive. The young party worker left, disillusioned. In his lowest moment, a defeated Kejriwal is making a d ...

NOW MODI BAITING GIVES NO MILK TO AAP: From party chief Arvind Kejriwal’s detention in Gujarat, to his announcement to take on Narendra Modi from Varanasi in the Lok Sabha elections or people slapping him while campaigning in Delhi — AAP’s online donation graph went up. But not anymore. Call it donor’s fatigue or their loss of faith in the party, the donations for the 18-month party has dried up and not even news of crisis in the fledgling political outfit gets them to loosen their purse strings. On June 8, the day the rift between Kejriwal and senior party leader Yogendra Yadav played out in the media, the AAP could mop up a paltry Rs. 8,293 from its donors. Again when Kejriwal opted for jail in the Nitin Gadkari defamation case on May 21, the money that came in party’s coffers was Rs. 7.42 lakh. The next day on May 22 it went down to Rs. 5.62 lakh and dipped to Rs. 58,000 on May 23, the day he once again refused to pay the bail amount. The two occasions marked a departure from earlier trends w ...
The Gandhis must vacate for an opposition to take shape It will be an act of great courage to face the unbelievably harsh truth. Never has a political family been so universally hated, despised, loathed. This was part of the energy which became a wave for Modi. After the vigorous opening speech in the Lok Sabha by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sonia Gandhi's rump of a party looked even more battered and bruised. The most reassuring news for them since the May 16 election results is spread across three columns of Times of India: Gandhis will personally probe the poll defeat. In other words the regular system of the famous A.K. Antony committees to investigate Congress defeats is being discarded. Antony, an acute Gandhi loyalist, never in the course of his numerous probes, turned the search lights on his political masters. But this time he may be left with no room for maneuver. The Gandhis will be on the dissection table. Reports of irreversible poor health may be leaked. What better way to stop the leak th ...
The Indian Express reports that Rahul's vision for the party will be taken forward through his core team members -- Madhusudan Mistry, Bhanwar Jitendra Singh. Jitin Prasada, Rajeev Satav (one of only two Congress MPs from Maharashtra), Deepender Hooda and RPN Singh, as well as some Youth Congress members. The focus will remain on some ideas Rahul mooted during the run-up to the polls, including internal elections at various levels, primaries, a new website, greater transparency, etc. "The sources say Rahul has not directly met senior leaders of the party who lost in the Lok Sabha elections, in an indication that he might be distancing himself from the ‘old guard’ further, even though general secretaries like Mistry have been asked to meet such leaders to discuss the poll results," the report states. Television cameras have also captured the Amethi MP in Lok Sabha, arriving early and taking a bench towards the back, but engaging in long discussions with colleagues in Parliament, including NCP MP from M ...
Congress has not learnt any lessons from the insulting and crushing defeat in Lok Sabha. Again they are out to purchase / trade vote , this time in Maharashtra. Very shamelessly Narayan Rane is declaring 20 % Reservation for Maratha Community. 60 saalon main abhi yaad aayi tumko jab tumhaari dukaan hi lut gai. Maratha people should avail this reservation but should make a promise to themselves . not to vote for this " TRADER CONGRESS". PM Modi opened his arms with the grace of a victor as he reached out to the Opposition in his reply to President Pranab Mukherjee's address to the joint session of parliament on Monday. "After the elections, we all are the custodian of the hopes and aspirations of the people," Modi said in the Lok Sabha in a speech that echoed the statesmanship of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, his party's only other Prime Minister. "Victory teaches us a lot of lessons. It teaches us humility... It is my earnest hope that we will get the power to fight arrogance," Modi said. PM said he welcomed criticism, and that he would work to take everybody along. “If we don't run the government for the benefit of the poor people then the citizens of the country will not forgive us,” Modi said in reply to the motion of thanks on President's address to the joint session of Parliament. “We will empower the poor to enable them to fight poverty,” PM said that education is the biggest tool to fight poverty. BIASED STATE LAWS ENFORCED BY BJP IN GUJARAT GIVE A PEEP INTO POSSIBLE BIASED FEDERAL LAWS! Copy pasting excerpts from an article by Shoaib Daniyal on Bharatiya Janata Party's resounding win in the Lok Sabha elections has brought one of its pet issues back into focus: the establishment of a Uniform Civil Code to replace the current system by which followers of different faiths are subject to religious personal laws relating to marriage, inheritance and other matters. It is rarely acknowledged but there are a number of provisions in India that work on explicitly religious or communal principles, all of which are also in urgent need of reform. On these the BJP has maintained a studied silence, in some cases even propagating them. The notable provisions are listed below: Gujarat's apostasy law: It might come as a surprise that India has an apostasy law, but in 2003, a time of great communal polarisation, the Gujarat legislature passed the Freedom of Religion Act, a wonderfully Orwellian name for a law that r ...

Voters lured by money sent in bank accounts during polls: EC New Delhi: Innovative methods like transfer of funds through the RTGS banking system and concealment of currency wads inside car bonnets were detected by Election Commission (EC) as it took steps to curb the use of black money during the just-concluded Lok Sabha polls. The poll panel's election expenditure monitoring wing, under its Director General (Expenditure) PK Dash, seized total cash of Rs 313 crore and 2.25 crore litres of liquor along with other illegal inducements for bribing voters during the recently held parliamentary and Assembly polls. "As a fear was created among miscreants, they were constantly changing methods. For example, since vehicles were being checked, it was noticed that some carried cash in the bonnet of the vehicle and, when it was recovered, the currency notes were burnt and the teams seized half-burnt notes. "Similarly, Rs 8.31 crore in cash being carried on the roofs of buses in five bags was also seized. Cash was be ...
Murli Manohar Joshi, Kalyan Singh, VK Malhotra amongst BJP leaders in reckoning for governors: BJP veterans like Murli Manohar Joshi, Kalyan Singh and VK Malhotra may be accommodated as governors as their names are doing the rounds for appointment in gubernatorial posts in key states like Karnataka, Maharashtra and Haryana. Other names that are in the reckoning include expelled BJP leader Jaswant Singh, who Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently reached out to, former Lucknow MP Lalji Tandon, senior party leader from Madhya Pradesh Kailash Joshi and former Speaker of Uttar Pradesh Kesari Nath Tripathi, official sources said. Joshi, who was elected to the Lok Sabha from Kanpur, has not been included in Modi's ministry while Kalyan Singh had opted out of electoral contest in favour of his son Rajveer. Malhotra has not been much active in politics. Assembly elections are due this year in Maharashtra, Haryana and Jharkhand and the NDA government is expected to appoint new governors in these states. No more bandaid tax policy: Surjit S Bhalla | Eeffective corporate tax rate in India is identical to the stated 30 per cent rate. This has killed corporations and the economy. There can be many positive side-effects of the Narendra Modi-BJP mandate. The electorate has provided the BJP with a free hand in charting India’s economic and social policies. Some of the structural changes demanded by the electorate will require deft manoeuvring between the Centre and states, or between Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. However, the forthcoming budget, that is, the maiden tax and expenditure policy document, is per se only constrained by the imagination, thinking and boldness of PM Modi and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley. They have only two choices in formulating the budget. Either they continue with a little bit of tinkerisation here and a little bit of bandaid there. This is the policy followed by every government of India budget, with only one exception (February 1997) since the breakthrough 1991 budget. Or they deci ...
After my correct predictions for TMC in Lok Sabha, feeling enthusiastic for more predictions. ( I am strongly against astrology ) Chief Minister, Ms Mamata Banerjee has FINALLY agreed to meet the CPIM deligate over recent political clashes after election results. My predictions :- 1. She or Mr Amit Mitra will come out of office to greet and escort the deligates. The meeting will be extremely courteous. 2. She will instruct the Chief Secretary to take instant action in front of the deligates. 3. Mr Biman Bose will say to media that CM had given them a patient hearing and assured peace to prevail. They will wait to see her actions. 4. This could be a risky prediction - she may offer some return gift as a symbol of harmony. Let me also wait to see. :)

CHANDIGARH: Former Union information and broadcasting minister Ambika Soni, who is the Congress candidate from Anandpur Sahib, on Monday accused Punjab deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal of hijacking the religious services in Golden Temple, saying "the paid private TV channel owned by him only had exclusive rights to relay the prayers across the world everyday". "Only PTC channels owned by Sukhbir Badal are allowed to live telecast Gurbani at the Golden Temple. It is unfortunate that even the prayers that people world over want to see have been seized by the ruling Badal family. And above all the bouquet of these TV channels is a paid subscription, not free," Soni said. Soni, who is contesting the Lok Sabha polls for the first time, made her first direct attack on Badal junior after landing in Chandigarh last week. The 72-year-old Rajya Sabha MP said it was a worrying concern for people of Punjab as the channels owned by the Badals were playing a major role in influencing the voters of Punjab in fa ...

Women in power yet no end to rapes!: This week ended on a high note for women in India with Sumitra Mahajan unanimously being elected Speaker of the 16th Lok Sabha, becoming the second woman presiding officer of the Lower House after her predecessor Meira Kumar. The 16th Lok Sabha has the highest number of women MPs since the first election in 1952, 61. It had the maximum number of women candidates, 668 and the highest women voter turnout in numbers. The Cabinet has maximum number of women ministers this time. But there is a new low to this new high. In Badaun, Uttar Pradesh, two dalit teenaged sisters were raped and then hanged on a tree, there was an attempt to rape a woman judge in Aligarh and other instances in UP, a minor raped and killed in Bangalore, a girl raped at gunpoint in Mumbai, and a mother who was shot dead in front of her kids in Meghalaya when she valiantly fought an attempt to sexually assault her. However, we can give benefit of doubt to newly entered women parliamentarians. But with w ...

She is a member of parliament from Indore (Madhya Pradesh) since 1989. Her stint as a Union Minister of State from 2002 to 2004 is also remarkable. All Chiplunkars must definitely be feeling proud like me. Congratulations once again and wish her best luck in her future endeavour…. HM
A WOMAN'S PLACE IS IN THE HOUSE: The realization that a house of elected representatives can gain so much by having a woman at its head came late but it now seems to have gained the approval of its members. After Meira Kumar wonderfully and graciously presided over a rather difficult 15th Lok Sabha we now have another woman Speaker in Sumitra Mahajan. This is especially significant as the Women's Reservation Bill that promises to reserve 33 per cent seats for women in Parliament is still pending.

I remember one evening in Bhopal when the Congress candidates for the Lok Sabha elections were announced. There was one name that surprised us. My immediate boss, Shri Lajja Shankar Herdenia, asked me to find out more about that person. He was Kamal Nath. I contacted several Congress leaders in Bhopal. None of them had heard his name. Finally, I found out that he was a businessman from Calcutta and was a classmate of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi's younger son Sanjay Gandhi. If I knew that he was also a classmate of my daughter-in-law's father at the Doon Public School, I would have produced an excellent story. Alas, our younger son was not even born to us!

"Ache din aarahe hain" (Good days are coming)! This line became an instant hit as it was used a lot by the NDA in India's recent elections of the Lok Sabha. Meanwhile indeed good days are likely coming for India as the dull SW Monsoon seems to be gaining the momentum and seems to be making a rapid movement in India. Attached here is IPS Meteostar 850mb model showing an insane upsurge of relative humidity over India mainland by 20th June. Although precipitation model is being monitored but its likely that the monsoon will be keeping the dates with a slight delay. The second attached image is IMD NWP 925mb showing a clear "Somali Jet" offshore Somalia in the Western Arabian Sea. Somali Jet plays a very vital role in boosting the SW Monsoon and it was absent in the month of May 2014. However now within a week the jet will be in a good shape and the monsoon winds will be amplified enough to cover much parts of India. METD WEATHER is closely monitoring every model run to track the estimated progress of SWM. AN ...
Narendra Modi & BIG BUSINESS Courtesy: Yogi Aggarwal (Deccan Chronicle) Amidst euphoria over Narendra Modi’s victory in the Lok Sabha election, his cohorts might take the raising of any uncomfortable questions as arising from mere ill will. But the questions are relevant and will not go away. What, for instance, would be the influence of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh on the social fabric of the country? Or whether relations with neighbours such as nuclear-armed Pakistan be expected to improve or deteriorate? These must await another time and columnist. Looking at purely the economic prospects, they appear far less rosy than the moment of victory would have led us to believe. Mr Modi was elected with great expectations by the country at large, but more particularly by the young whom Mr Modi referred to as those “emerging into the middle class”. What was of crucial importance was jobs, livelihoods that don’t erode because of inflation, a strong base in infrastructure that is the bedrock of economi ...

For the first time in the history of Indian Parliament,Kamal Nath to be only Lok Sabha member for 24 hours.
The 16th Lok Sabha will have the highest number of 61 women representatives. - In 15th General Elections 59 MPs were elected to the 543 member house. - The number was lowest in 1977 elections when only 19 women got elected. This time apart from Sonia Gandhi, Hema Malini and Maneka Gandhi, other prominent women elected to the Lok Sabha this time include Kirron Kher, Poonam Mahajan, Sushma Swaraj, Uma Bharti, Dimple Yadav, Moon Moon Sen and Meenakshi Lekhi.

There is a lot of hue and cry in the Congress party over the Congress President's decision of requesting Shahi Imam Janab Ahmed Bukhari saheb to make an appeal to the muslim community to vote for Congress. Nobody in the congress party had the guts and the courage to oppose the decision of Sonia Gandhi ji. But after the debacle of the party in the Lok Sabha election, the senior party functionaries are calling Shahi Imam as the communal leader. My question is if he is communal today, then he was communal yesterday as well, then why they kept mum then? Muslims are not here to be made as the scape goats. I am neither a supporter of Shahi Imam saheb nor his follower but as an Indian, I felt hurt at this statement. please don't try to create a divide between Hindus and Muslims with such statements. During the elections, when BJP was criticising Congress President's meeting with Shahi Imam, then no Congressman supported BJP but today they are proving by their statements that BJP was right. If Congress has lost t ...
Gopinath Munde's body reaches Mumbai; funeral tomorrow: The body of BJP leader and Union Rural Development Minister Gopinath Munde, who died in a road accident in Delhi, reached Mumbai this evening. Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray, MNS chief Raj Thackeray, BJP MP Hema Malini and NCP leaders Chhagan Bhujbal and Praful Patel visited Munde's residence to pay respects. The body will be later kept at the state BJP office in south Mumbai to enable people pay respects to the departed leader. It would be flown to Latur in central Maharashtra tomorrow morning. From Latur, the body will be taken to Parali in Beed district (Munde's Lok Sabha constituency), around 70 km from Latur. Munde family hails from Nathra village near Parali. Although various leaders from the Congress party came forward criticizing the party leadership in the milieu of the Lok Sabha poll debacle, former M.P Peethambara Kurup will not say so. He says he does not belong to that group and is all in praise of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.
After Badaun: Moment ripe for pushing women’s quota bill The terrible tragedies of the two victims in the Badaun rape-murders can either be used as an opportunity for venting one's spleen (which is entirely justified but largely unproductive) or as a chance of a lifetime to move our social agenda in a positive direction. While many things ought to be done - Maneka Gandhi wants to set up rape crisis centres in all districts by year-end, others want an expansion of toilet facilities in rural areas, etc - an overwhelming message needs to be sent against misogyny and patriarchy. The area where the message will have the largest impact is in politics. If the Delhi gangrape incident prompted stringent changes in rape laws (most of them counter-productive, one must add, or else we would not have had Badaun), this time we need to make the right moves for positive impact. In particular, we need to pass the Women's Reservation Bill in the Lok Sabha quickly, now that the BJP and allies have the requisite majority. ...
Shri Gopinath Munde, Union Minister who died in an unfortunate car accident today was the brother-in-law of the late Shri Pramod Mahajan, another senior BJP leader. Two untimely death in the same family. Mahajan was a master strategist and his death at a comparatively young age was a big blow to BJP. But now they got an even better strategist in Shri Narendra Modi. This is the advantage of a political party running on democratic lines. New leaders would be thrown up as situation demands. Look at the Congress party on the other hand. They depended on one family for leadership, inspiration, guidance and it fact for everything but now there is nobody from it even to be the leader in the Lok Sabha. Barring Oommen Chandy, this party may not have a single leader with some mass base. Let us hope they will learn some lessons at least now.

I can feel congress going into a ostrich mode again which will harm them further choosing a non-Hindi speaking ( Mr. Mallikarjun Kharge ) over Mr. Rahul Gandhi to take on Modi ji a prolific orator in Lok Sabha . This seals the notion that Mr. Rahul Gandhi is a unconfident leader .seems Sonia ji is helping Modi ji to achieve " congress mukt Bharat "
Mallikarjun Kharge to lead the congress in Lok Sabha, neither Rahul nor Kamal Nath. Will they continue with Manmohan Singh in the Rajya Sabha?
