Questions to Arvind Kejriwal from AAP Colleagues Why had you gone to Germany for 15 days on a Congress financed trip with a Congress leader? In spite of opposition from the party (AAP), on whose request did you make a Congress leader as the Delhi Pradesh Convenor? On whose orders did you give the Lok Sabha ticket from Hissar to Yudhvir Singh, the corrupt civil servant who gave a clean chit to Robert Vadra? This, when the honest Ashok Khemka had nullified Vadra’s land deals? On whose orders did you announce Yogendra Yadav, close confidant of the Congress and the man responsible for sending Anna Hazare to Tihar Jail, as the Chief Ministerial candidate from Haryana inspite of opposition from inside the party? You claim that you had the papers relating to the Rs. 400 crore Delhi Jal Board corruption scandal since 2005; then why did you not file a case against Congress leader Sheila Dixit in 2006 itself? Why, instead did you hand over those documents to a senior Congress leader? What are the reasons for your ...
BATTLE OF DELHI: KIRAN BEDI VS Arvind Kejriwal Monday, 19 January 2015 | Amitabh Shukla | in Pioneer Dehradun Perhaps one of the most high decibel polls after the Lok Sabha battle is being fought in Delhi, the result of which could have far reaching implications for all the contesting parties. BJP, on a dream run, knows that symbolically Delhi may be a half State but the outcome would suggest consolidation, winning momentum and would herald positive vibes for the crucial Bihar Assembly polls later this year. That perhaps explains why Kiran Bedi was inducted despite having the style and an image of a non-conformist and is being projected as such a good catch by the party when the poll battle is on a feverish pitch. For the Aam Aadmi Party, it is perhaps now or never. The party has realised that if it doesn’t win Delhi this time round, its cadre would start dwindling and begin desertions towards other parties. It also knows well that the space which Congress has ceded is vacant and it was the opportune ti ...

January 13th, 2015.Authorities on Tuesday slapped another Public Safety Act (PSA) on Hurriyat (JK) leader Mushtaq-ul-Islam.Mushtaq, head f his faction of Muslim League was arrested early last year much ahead of the Lok Sabha polls and since then he is undergoing detention.Confirming another PSA on Mushtaq, Hurriyat Conference (JK) head and chairman Democratic Freedom Party Shabir Ahmad Shah said that slapping PSA one after another on Mushtaq ul Islam is totally undemocratic.Mushtaq has been shifted to district jail Baramulla.“By continuously keeping pro freedom leaders like Mushtaq ul Islam, Masrat Alam Bhat and others under detention, the authorities can’t break the resolve of resistance leadership but our resolve becomes stronger,” Shah said.
The Legislative Powers of the President of India 1. Legislative Powers- The President is not a member of either House of the Parliament. But he is an integral part of the legislative process. He plays an important role in the making of laws. Lawmaking is not initiated by him. But he can significantly influence it. (a) Summoning the House- The President has the power to summon and prorogue the two Houses of Parliament. He has also the power to dissolve the Lok Sabha. The President can summon joint sitting of both Houses of Parliament. If there are differences between the two Houses, he can ask them to sit together to resolve those differences. (b) Addressing the Houses- The President may address each House separately or he may address them jointly. When the first session of each is commences, or when the Lok Sabha meets after a General Election, the President addresses the joint-sitting of both Houses. Besides this, he can also address each House or their joint sitting any time. (c) Sending Message- The Pr ...

2014 began with the message “Mr Modi can deliver”. 2015 has begun with the question “Can Mr Modi deliver?” (Source: PTI photo) Comments TAGS: Indian Economy Inflation Lok Sabha Elections P Chidambaram Previous Story From The Discomfort Zone Written by P Chidambaram | Posted: January 11, 2015 12:00 am | Updated: January 11, 2015 1:14 am I am happy to be back in this space and begin a conversation. Before and during the elections to the Lok Sabha, we were concerned with the state of the economy. After the elections, and seven months after a new Government assumed office, those concerns have not gone away. Rather, new questions concerning the economy and the polity are being raised every day. In the middle of 2013, the economy was on the mend. Then, Mr Ben Bernanke struck with a thoughtless remark on withdrawing from ‘quantitative easing’, when that step was several months away. Nevertheless, the government of the day gamely stuck to the target of fiscal deficit, contained the current account def ...

The Delhi Assembly Elections I have a feeling that precisely for the reason why BJP got a majority in the Lok Sabha election 2014, AAP may get a majority in the Delhi Assembly election, 2015. The reason is this : people in India want a positive dream to go for, like the children following the Pied Piper of Hamelin. When Indira Gandhi gave the slogan ' Garibi Hatao ', her opponents had no positive dream to counter this, and so people voted in droves for her party. Similarly when Modi gave the positive slogan ' Vikas ', the Congress had no positive slogan to match it. Now AAP has given the positive slogan of 'Honesty' and reduction of electricity and water bills, while BJP has no positive slogan to match it. Evidently the 'people have seen through the ' Vikas' slogan, and have realized it was empty gas. Muslims, of whom there are a large number in Delhi, will as usual, vote for the strongest non BJP party ( and after 'ghar wapasi' and 'haraamzade' they will vote en bloc ). Since Congress has given a walk o ...

Read my article "2014 – The Year of Challenges and Reforms" 2014 was one of the most challenging years for India. For two consecutive years our GDP growth was sub 5 per cent. Employment generation had declined, the revenue buoyancy was low and the country had become investment starved. The 2014 general election results brought in an air of freshness. After thirty years, the Indian electorate gave a majority to a single party in the Lok Sabha. The Government led by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi promised to be decisive and firm. The popular expectation was that the Government would usher in an era of reforms and growth. In the past seven months, the Government has undertaken more reform oriented measures than any Government in recent memory. Some of the steps are as under: Outlining the vision of the cooperative federalism through the creation of successor to the Planning Commission. The new structure would provide an alternative to the command and control economy. Building a national consensus ...

2014- A historical year in Kashmir By: Bilal Bashir Bhat There is no doubt that the year 2014 gained the historical importance in Jammu and Kashmir. The outgoing year with respect to its important moments will be mooted for decades in the history of the Kashmir. The story of the year is full of political arena, ravaged floods, incidents of waywardness, protests, casualties and of course the debacle of National Conference. From the year 2014, it was difficult to track the top ten stories of the year, but I believe I’ve chosen a correct order to review the historical year 2014. Here are the some top stories of the year 2014: Devastating Floods: Besides the loss of precious human lives, the first of its kind floods on September 2014, caused damage to the public property worth 80 thousand crore to One lakh crore in Jammu and Kashmir. Amidst this catastrophic and chaotic situation the death dance during the floods took almost 300 to 500 precious human lives. Kudos to the youth of Old City (Downtown), who pl ...

Majlis dream run continues... Nothing succeeds like success. In retrospect it couldn’t have asked for a better year. It was a dream run for the Majlis e Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) in 2014. While the bifurcation of the State impacted most parties, the Majlis not only held its own but went on to reap electoral gains beyond its bastion. Its winning streak started with the urban local bodies polls held in March in which it snatched 101 wards, mostly in the Telangana region. It also won five wards in the Seemandhra region. The winners included six non-Muslims and 38 women candidates. The Majlis succeeded in getting the Deputy Mayor’s post in Nizambad Municipal Corporation while its nominees bagged the chairmanship of Bhainsa municipality and vice chairmanship of seven other municipalities in Telangana. The Majlis also put up a good show in the Panchayat Raj elections. It bagged 21 posts of Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency (MPTC) members in four districts, including Ranga Reddy. The party followed it ...

These two crazy countries... I tell you. (Very Funny & Reality) During the Cold War, if USA launched a nuke-loaded missile, Soviet satellites would inform the Soviet army in 3 seconds and in less than 5 seconds Soviet counter-missiles would be on their way. This was their scenario. . . But if there is a nuclear war between India and Pakistan. The Pakistan army decides to launch a nuke-missile towards India. They don't need any permission from their government, and promptly order the countdowns. Indian technology is highly advanced. In less than 8 seconds, Indian army detects the Pak Countdown and decides to launch a missile in retribution. But they need permission from the Government of India. They submit their request to the Indian President. The President forwards it to the Cabinet. The Prime Minister calls an emergency Lok Sabha session. The LS meets, but due to several walkouts and severe protests by the opposition, it gets adjourned and adjourned indefinitely. The President asks for a quick decision. ...

Today is the Birthday of the great soul, BHARAT RATAN "Shree Atal Bihari Vajpayee". Born on 25th December 1924, Atal Bihari Vajpayee had contributed a lot to India's Progress. I fear we could not describe a legend in this small space..! Will share few of his glimpses. In 1957; Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji was first elected to the Lok Sabha, the then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru was so impressed by the oratorical skills of Vajpayee that the former commented to his fellow parliamentarians that this young MP would lead the nation one day. After 23 Years of active politics, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, along with many BJS and RSS colleagues, particularly his long-time and close friends Lal Krishna Advani and Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, founded the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 1980.

Parliament Approves Bill On Unauthorised Development In a rare show of unanimity, Rajya Sabha members on Tuesday approved the National Capital Territory of Delhi Laws (Special Provisions) Second (Amendment) Bill, 2014 to provide relief to nearly sixty lac residents of illegal colonies, slum dwellers and Jhuggi Jhopris in Delhi. Lok Sabha had already passed on the bill on December 16. This was the result of hectic parleys between treasury benches and opposition parties as parliamentary affairs minister M. Venkaiah Naidu and his junior colleague Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi worked hard to ensure the passage of the bill on the last working day of the winter session. The government said that extension of deadline by another 3 years was necessary to complete the work for orderly relocation or rehabilitation of slum dwellers, Jhuggi-Jhopri clusters, street vendors and regularisation of unauthorised colonies, village abadi areas, schools, dispensaries, religious and cultural institutions and warehouses built on agricultu ...
New Delhi: The Congress finally showed aggression in the Lok Sabha by joining other Opposition parties in shouting slogans in the well the whole day amid confusion about the difference in its strategy in the two Houses. Pic: AFP Although some leaders felt the party did not have the numbers to make an impact in the Lok Sabha and confronting the brute majority of the government would be meaningless, others thought the issue of rising communal tension was too important to be ignored. There was a feeling that silence could be viewed as political duplicity. With only two days left in this session, the Congress evolved a joint strategy with other rival parties and kicked up a major ruckus, the first in the Lok Sabha, though the Deputy Speaker chose not to adjourn the House because of the din. He was, however, forced to adjourn the House when CPM member Anirudhan Sampath suddenly fell ill in a fit of anger and when RJD member Pappu Yadav threw some torn pieces of paper in front of the Chair. With the help of key ...

The Tide is turning in Delhi Two more opinion polls on Delhi assembly elections have been published in the last week: India Today -- Ciicero poll and Economic Times -- TNS poll. Both of them confirm some broad trends: 1. The pro-BJP tide in the Lok Sabha election has started turning. The BJP had a 13% lead over AAP eight months ago. The lead has been cut down to 6% as per ET and just 3% according to India Today. AAP is recovering the ground it lost in Lok Sabha Elections. 2. The Congress is on way to political decimation in the national capital. Its vote share is falling even below its worst ever performance in Lok Sabha Elections. 3. While Modi continues to have positive ratings as PM, Arvind Kejriwal is head and shoulders ahead of all his rivals in the CM race. 4. Issues like corruption, women's security and bijli-paani continue to dominate popular imagination. So, if you are not misguided by their seats forecast, the opinion polls are giving early warnings of a reverse swing! Watch out Mr Amit Shah!

GST Bill introduced in Lok Sabha, to pave way for single tax regime
New Delhi: A day after the government tabled the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Bill in the Lok Sabha, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Saturday urged industries to build public opinion in states for passing the law on reforming India's indirect tax system. "Any state that does not fall in line (with GST), my advice to all stakeholders is go to states to raise the issue, to convince, to pressurise public opinion in all the states," Jaitley said in his address during the 87th annual general meeting of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) here. Hinting that complete consensus is awaited on a bill that needs to be passed by a two-thirds majority in both the Houses of Parliament and by the legislatures of half of the states to become a law, the Finance Minister called for "a shared national vision on basic issues". States sought a five-year compensation package and asked for its inclusion in the bill. Jaitley introduced the Bill in the Lower House on Friday, saying the objective of ...
IS MODI THE CULPRIT...? Please... Read it First before giving judgement... After central government stopped the subsidy given to tea garden management over ration to labours, certain organisations and political parties who had been sleeping for decades has awaken and are dancing like shameless harlots. Prominent among them is 'Axom cha majdur sanstha' (ACMS or right hand of Congress party to exploit labour) which is spreading the lie and propaganda that Modi has stopped Ration to labours and Modi is bad, cruel, etc, etc. Along with many poor illiterate labourers even many like minded individuals has become victims of their nasty propaganda. My question to the Congress party and particularly ACMS, where had you been before the advent of BJP in Assam? *Where were u all when poor labourers were dieing due to hunger and low wages? * What has you done for the welfare of poor labours for 6 decades...? *Why wages of labourers is still only ₹94 ( ₹78 in barak valley? * Why the literacy rate of these peoples are ...

So a moderate-Modi bhakt, His Holiness Param Poojya Gurudev Sri Sri Ravishankar ji Maharaj (Baba Ramdev is a hardline-Modi bhakt) who had put his foot-in-his-mouth by "predicting" earlier this year that the value of 1 US$ will come down to Rs. 40 under has once again made an *** of himself. Last night, I shared a picture of a Hindi newspaper clipping (Amar Ujala) which reported that the Holy Man is urging the nation Not to vote for Kejriwal & AAP who, he ("Gurudev") feels, are anti-national & anti-development. Nothing suprising about that. Just that I also expected "Param Poojya Gurudev" to take his Modi bhakti to the next level by also urging people to NOT vote for the Congress as well. But then, I just recalled that "Gurudev's" Fart, oops I mean Art of Living headquarters are in Bangalore, Karnataka and if "Gurudev" wants to protect his Ashram, he has to be silent or at best, very mild on Congress since it's the Congress who at present run the state government in Karnataka :P ;) And he also needs to pro ...
After the thumping win in the Lok Sabha Elections and though the Modi wave and magic is still working also in almost every state elections, but all this may soon be lost if he allows religion and caste based politics to be used by the VHP, the RSS and the Sangh Parivar as a method to force conversions. Therefore what this country needs are more economic and social reforms. And if he really wants to succeed, then it is time he firmly puts his foot down and not allow such like activities to continue, because this will further polarize the nation, and for all those who voted for him it will be a total come down.

WOMEN Govt drops plan to amend Dowry Act... New Delhi: The Dowry Act in its present form is here to stay for now. The government on Friday said it had dropped amendments to the Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961 proposed by the National Commission for Women (NCW). “The NCW had recommended certain amendments in Dowry Prohibition Act. However, the ministry has taken a considered view on the matter and decided to drop the amendment proposed by NCW in the present form after taking into account the comments of the high level committee on the status of women and the ministry of home affairs,” women and child development minister Maneka Gandhi said in Lok Sabha. The move has been met with some relief by women’s rights activists who feared weakening of the law following a critical Supreme Court order. “I feel it is good that the government has decided not to dilute the law,” Ranjana Kumari from the Centre for Social Research said. Among the amendments that were planned included widening the definition of the w ...

Lucknow: Intelligence agencies have alerted the Uttar Pradesh government on growing activities of Majlis-e Ittehadul Muslimin and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh in the state. The two groups, agencies say, are stoking communal sentiments in the state. Hindu outfits have stirred controversy in west UP by starting a religious conversion/reversion campaign. On the other hand, not a single MP from the community was elected from UP to the Lok Sabha so Muslim outfits are worked up for the 2017 assembly elections. Emergence of MIM on the state's political landscape has been noted by the intelligence headquarters which has alerted UP government that despite it being not allowed to hold convention in the state, it is getting foothold and the youth of the community are deserting other camps to join it. MIM was founded by late Salahuddin Owaisi, and his sons MP Asaduddin Owaisi and MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi of Andhra Pradesh are now ruling the party. False dowry charge ground for divorce, Supreme Court rules New Delhi: If a woman's complaint accusing her husband and in-laws of cruelty under the dreaded Section 498A of Indian Penal Code turns out to be false, then the man is entitled to divorce, the Supreme Court has ruled. Allowing dissolution of marriage between K Srinivas and K Sunita, the court said, "We unequivocally find that the respondent-wife had filed a false criminal complaint, and even one such complaint is sufficient to constitute matrimonial cruelty. We accordingly dissolve the marriage of the parties." After the wife left her matrimonial home on June 30, 1995, the husband filed a divorce suit on July 14, 1995 on the ground of cruelty as well as irretrievable breakdown of marriage. The wife retaliated by filing a criminal complaint against her husband and seven of his family members under various provisions of IPC and Dowry Prohibition Act. Veterans see red over non-implementation of OROP By Abhijit C Chandra Bhopal, Dec 10 (UNI) The unflinching gallantry of the Indian Armed Forces has been irrefutably evidenced time and again from blood-bespattered Badgam to the frozen heights of Kargil but it is a sheer irony of circumstances that veterans are being hit by friendly fire through non-implementation of 'one rank one pension' (OROP) for approximately 26 lakh ex-servicemen and 6.5 lakh widows -- as family pensioners. Retired soldiers have returned thousands of their war medals to the President and signed in blood in support of OROP. The OROP anomaly is a festering issue that has its genesis in 1973 when the Third Central Pay Commission "amalgamated" the defence personnel with civilian employees resulting in downgrading of the military. Earlier, the defence forces received 70 per cent of the last pay as pension and civilians got only 33 per cent. This was made 50 per cent for all. OROP implies that uniform pension be paid to Armed Forces personn ...

Dear Veteran Vasu, If you have seen performance of NDA - I Govt from 1998 to 2004, you would have noticed there is hardly any difference in their approach to any of the issues which confronted the Nation. BJP was no less saintly and Tehelka proved they also can be purchased for 30 silver coins. If *** have occupied Kargil heights in 1999, what did we do? We sacrificed 600 men and made triple the number lose their limbs for ever. Any self respecting Nation would have gone and cut off line to Siachen in North of Kargil and bleed Pakistan. We could have got entire land north of Kargil liberated from Pakistan. Don't we call it POK (Pakistan Occupied Kashmir) and is it not a golden opportunity to liberate that portion of POK? The diktat that we will not cross LC forced IAF to cut down their ops as at that heights you need a longer turning radius. What did Op PARAKRAM achieve after our Parliament was attacked in Sep 2001? We moved entire Indian Army to the borders and did nothing thereafter. Do you think *** .. ...

Hate-Speech Reflects BJP's Ideology and Politics, Not Niranjan Jyoti's Social Background Campaigning for the BJP towards the Delhi Assembly elections, the Modi Government's Minister of State for Food Processing, asked voters to choose between a Government of 'Ramzade' (sons of Ram) and 'Haramzade' *** . This was not just a case of the use of an abusive word. Questioned by a journalist, she elaborated her meaning on camera. She said that "Muslims and Christians are also sons of Ram – and if they don't believe this, they can't believe in the nation either". As an outcry rose nationally demanding the sacking of this Minister, the Minister issued a vague and general 'apology' in case she had 'hurt anyone's feelings'. Subsequently, the Prime Minister told the Parliament to forgive and forget the Minister's lapse, since she was a novice, a first-time MP, and a village woman. The BJP also hinted that the Minister was being singled out and targeted by the Opposition because she was from an extremely backw ...

BJP wanted files on Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose made public, now government says no: The BJP-led government has refused to make public nearly 39 classified files on the mysterious disappearance of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and related matters, in sharp contrast to the demands of disclosure raised by its senior leaders when in Opposition. In January when the Lok Sabha election campaign was at its peak, the then BJP president Rajnath Singh, during a visit to Cuttack - the birthplace of Netaji - on the occasion of his 117th birth anniversary, had demanded that the UPA government make public the records related to the freedom fighter. Singh is now the Home Minister. The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) in a recent RTI reply accepted that there were 41 files related to Bose, of which two had been declassified, but refused to disclose them taking a position similar to that of the erstwhile Congress-led UPA government. "Disclosure of documents contained in these files would prejudicially affect relations with forei ...

"Other than security, what else am I entitled to?" ...asks the First Lady of this country. Bhakts must remember that Modi filed false affidavits repeatedly till 2014 Lok Sabha Elections, claiming himself to be a bachelor (never married). Filing false affidavit is a cognizable offends u/s 199 & 200. In 2014 LS polls, following a media expose, Mr Modi first time acknowledged Mrs Jashodaben as his lawfully wedded wife in an affidavit. Now, what are the entitlements of a wife is anyone's guess. Even the poorest of the common men has to pay Maintainance to his estranged wife. Our PM, while himself travels in wide-body personal jet and uses an armoured BMW 7 Series for ground travel to visit the podium from where he makes promises on women empowerment, has no idea where his own women is and how she makes her ends meet! Bhakts - this one is for you. I think Jashodaben, being a teacher all her life, can make a better HRD minister than Smriti Irani, an actor. But she is the right choice for Modi. What is he himsel ...

Mushrooming political parties: Registration rules should be tightened There are about 1600 registered political parties in the country with most of them having never contested any election. It is because registered political parties get many facilities especially including dual-axed exemptions from Income Tax on contributions made by and to political parties. Rules should be tightened so that such political parties not serious in contesting elections including having not participated in recently held Lok Sabha Elections may be immediately de-registered. It may be compulsory for a political party to participate in elections within say one year of getting ad-hoc registered, failing which it may lose its registration. Also rules for being recognised political parties as national and state level political parties should be further tightened to pave way for an ideal system of fewer political parties. Since political parties are not complying with full-bench CIC-verdict holding political parties under purview o ...
