History Early years (1996–2000) Linkin Park was founded by three high school friends; Mike Shinoda, Rob Bourdon, and Brad Delson. The three attended Agoura High School in Agoura Hills, California, a suburb of Los Angeles. After graduating from high school, the three began to take their musical interests more seriously, recruiting Joe Hahn, Dave "Phoenix" Farrell, and Mark Wakefield to perform in their band, Xero. Though limited in resources, the band began recording and producing songs within Shinoda’s makeshift bedroom studio in 1996, resulting in a 4-track demo tape, entitled as Xero. Tensions and frustration within the band grew however after they failed to land a record deal. The lack of success and stalemate in progress prompted Wakefield, at that time the band's vocalist, to leave the band in search of other projects. Farrell also left to tour with Tasty Snax and other bands. After spending a considerable time searching for Wakefield's replacement, Xero recruited ...

Woe, Is Me needs to comeback somehow Scary Kids Scaring Kids would be my favorite comeback of all time Mike Shinoda needs to do some new Fort Minor stuff It's impossible for The Beatles to come back but it John Lennon and George Harrison were alive I'd love for them to comeback Breaking Benjamin needs to come back also I think Atreyu would be my second favorite comeback after SCSC I think it'd be cool if JAY Z & Linkin Park to do another album together

A Thousand Suns is the fourth studio album by American Rock Band Linkin Park. It was released on September 8, 2010, under Warner Bros. Records. The album was written by the band, while production was handled by Linkin Park vocalist Mike Shinoda and Rick Rubin who previously worked together to produce the band's third studio album Minutes to Midnight (2007). Recording sessions for the album took place at NRG Recording Studios in North Hollywood, California from 2008 until early 2010. A Thousand Suns is a multi-concept album dealing with human fears such as nuclear warfare. The band has acknowledged that the album is a drastic departure from their previous work, as they experimented on different and new sounds for A Thousand Suns. Shinoda stated in an interview with MTV that the album references numerous social issues, as well as blending human ideas with technology. The album's title comes from the Hindu Sanskrit scripture, the Bhagavad Gita: "If the radiance of a thousand suns were to burst at once into t ...
Linkin Park was founded in 1996 as the rap Rock Band, Xero: lead guitarist Brad Delson, vocalist and rhythm guitarist Mike Shinoda, drummer Rob Bourdon, turntablist Joe Hahn, lead vocalist Mark Wakefield and bassist Dave Farrell (who was not with the band during this point to tour with Tasty Snax). In 1998, after Wakefield's departure, lead vocalist Chester Bennington joined the five members Xero and the band was renamed to Hybrid Theory. Bennington's previous band, Grey Daze, had recently disbanded, so his lawyer recommended him to Jeff Blue, vice president of A&R coordination for Zomba, who at the time was seeking a lead vocalist for Xero. Blue sent Bennington two tapes of Xero's unreleased recordings — one with vocals by former Xero member Mark Wakefield, and the other with only the instrumental tracks — asking for his "interpretation of the songs". Bennington wrote and recorded new vocals over the instrumentals and sent the tapes back to Blue.As Delson recalls, "[Bennington] really was kind of the ...
The late 90's early 2000's seen a genre come and go called nu-metal, a genre that was a healthy cross between hip-hop, metal, rap-metal, rock, and sometimes country. Lately by the bar that the industry has set as a commercial success (selling 100,000+ copies) it would seem that a few nu-metal bands are making a strong comeback. So what happened to Nu-Metal? Did it die, did it evolve or did it ever disappear? Some standout albums from the Nu-metal genre between 1999 and 2004 include: Infest - Papa Roach Hybrid Theory - Linkin Park Follow the Leader - Korn Meteora - Linkin Park Significant Other - Limp Bizkit Fallen - Evanescence Devil Without A Cause - Kid Rock 2004-2010 Then the genre seemed to disappear, Linkin Park released Minutes to Midnight which though sales were strong, both critics and fans considered it to be their weakest album (until Thousand Suns). Minutes to Midnight was strongly based in the rock genre and limited Mike Shinoda's rapping skills to two songs. Limp Bizkit never changed their so ...
The seeds of what would become Linkin Park were sown in Southern California in 1996, when three high school friends – drummer Rob Bourdon, guitarist Brad Delson and vocalist Mike Shinoda – decided to form a band. Soon after graduation, they completed their lineup by recruiting three more members: bassist Dave Farrell, turntablist Joe Hahn and temporary lead singer Mark Wakefield. Calling themselves first SuperXero and then simply Xero, the group began recording demos but failed to garner much interest in their songs.Finalizing the Lineup ... and the Band Name:Xero’s lack of success spurred the departure of Wakefield, setting the stage for Chester Bennington’s arrival as the band’s frontman in 1999. The group changed their name to Hybrid Theory (a nod to the band’s hybrid sound that combined rock and rap), but after facing legal issues with another act with a similar moniker, the group chose Lincoln Park, in honor of a neighborhood park in Santa Monica, California, that the band members would p ...
Very VERY true for a wolf like me. Mike Shinoda, from Linkin Park, said it another way: "The journey is more important than the end or the start." -In the End (Linkin Park)
from love of my Linkin Park :D History: *Warnings: Only for mad of LP listeners :P Although rooted in alternative metal, Linkin Park became one of the most successful acts of the early 2000s by welcoming elements of hip-hop, Modern Rock, and atmospheric electronica into their music. The band's rise was indebted to the aggressive rap-rock movement made popular by the likes of Korn and Limp Bizkit, a movement that paired grunge's alienation with a bold, buzzing soundtrack. Linkin Park added a unique spin to that formula, however, focusing as much on the vocal interplay between singer Chester Bennington and rapper Mike Shinoda as the band's muscled instrumentation, which layered DJ effects atop heavy, processed guitars. While the group's sales never eclipsed those of its tremendously successful debut, Hybrid Theory, few alt-metal bands rivaled Linkin Park during the band's heyday. Drummer Rob Bourdon, guitarist Brad Delson, and MC/vocalist Mike Shinoda attended high school in Southern California, where they ...

Grammy-winning band Linkin Park have stepped up their support of the United Nations’ 2012 Year of Sustainable Energy by launching a new campaign designed to bring a solar light to Haiti this holiday season. The band is asking supporters to donate $10 at PowerTheWorld.org to give a renewable, clean solar light bulb to families who otherwise live in darkness in the earthquake-ravaged country. “We chose Haiti for this project because the country faces severe energy poverty,” says Linkin Park lead vocalist Mike Shinoda. “There are 34 million people in the Western Hemisphere who have no access to modern energy; 8 million of them are in Haiti. By helping Haiti we can make a huge impact, so it’s a great place to start.”

Biiiography:) Mike Shinoda. (pt.2) Linkin Park: Shinoda's band brought in second vocalist Chester Bennington, replacing Mark Wakefield. From the onset, Shinoda was closely involved in the technical aspects of the band's recordings, and over the subsequent releases that role continued to expand. Shinoda, with guitarist Brad Delson, engineered and produced the band's Hybrid Theory EP, and performed similar roles in the recording of the Hybrid Theory album. Mike has contributed to the writing and performance of the guitar on most songs of every Linkin Park record since the beginning, i.e, from Hybrid Theory; Brad Delson and Mike have both contributed to most songs that have guitar. Mike executively organized and oversaw the band's remix album Reanimation (2002), contributing his own production remixes that he made in his home studio for "Crawling" and "Pushing Me Away." In his spare time, he produced and performed on a song by The X-Ecutioners entitled "It's Goin' Down." On the second Linkin Park Warner Bros ...
Biiiography :) Mike Shinoda. Michael Kenji "Mike" Shinoda (born February 11, 1977) is an American musician, record producer, and artist. He is best known as the rapper, principal songwriter, keyboardist, rhythm guitarist and one of the two vocalist of the Rock Band Linkin Park. Shinoda is also noted as a solo rapper in his side-project former Fort Minor. He also provides artwork, production, and mixing for both projects. Early life. Shinoda was born and raised in the Los Angeles suburb of Agoura Hills. His father is Japanese American and his mother is of European descent. He has a younger brother, Jason. He was raised as a liberal Protestant. Following his mother's wishes, Shinoda began classical piano training lessons around the age of six. His enthusiasm grew eventually. By thirteen, he expressed the desire to move toward playing jazz, blues, and even hip-hop. During his middle school and high school years, he added the guitar and, eventually, rap-style vocals to his repertoire. Following his high schoo ...

An afternoon of Linkin Park and Grad job stuff. Chester Bennington and Mike Shinoda, I thank you!
"When Linkin Park’s debut album, Hybrid Theory, came out in 2000, the band was at the forefront of the changing face of alternative music. That project was the best-selling album of the year, yielded one Grammy win, eventually went diamond, and forever stands as one of the defining albums of a new genre-bending direction for rock music at the turn of the decade. A lot has changed since then. We’ve seen a slew of alternative Rock Bands who were unfairly lumped in with Linkin Park come and go, and we’ve witnessed a shift in music that left a lot of popular rock from the early 2000s as a thing of the past. It’s been over 10 years since they exploded into stardom, and Linkin Park is still proving, quite convincingly, that they are not a thing of the past. Their latest album, Living Things, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and sold over 220,000 copies in its first week of release. We sat down with Linkin Park’s resident rapper, writer, guitarist, and producer Mike Shinoda to find out what has ch ...

listened to the entirety of Linkin Park's Living Things. It was pretty good. I'd give them credit for always reinventing their sound. Sometimes it's a hit or miss with their fans. I still feel the best song on that album is Lost in the Echo. It's a nice combination of Chester screaming and Mike Shinoda rapping as the techno background plays. Castle Of Glass caught my interest. It has an atmospheric tone. They were tracks I wasn't too fond of, but it picked up with Powerless. It was a nice dramtic end with Chester's emotional ballad.
I love the song Remember the Name by Fort Minor. Mostly because it has Mike Shinoda from Linkin Park in it. :3
A few months ago, I was approached by the editor of a magazine in the UK called “The Big Issue.” It is a news magazine that prides itself on being “a hand up, not a hand out.” They combat the problem of homelessness by offering eligible people the opportunity to earn a legitimate income by making money selling copies of the magazine. I’ve since written two pieces for Big Issue. A new issue is out right now, with my first piece as their American Election Correspondent. You’ll have to get a copy of that one to read it; below is my first piece, from September. They can't be beat they change their music they have so many hit songs they are in TRANSFORMERS. Cleaning my room..while listening to Linkin Park's new album Living Things. Sooo good!!! THIS is the linkin park i grew up with! Very nostalgic. Mike Shinoda my idol FTW!!
I have a pretty good feeling about Linkin Park's Burn It Down music video contest. A lot of the videos are corny and involve one guy sitting in front of a Mac with some SFX program, doing stupid things; and other videos are just so amateurish that they won't even look at; and some of the good ones use footage that there's no way the filmmakers own the footage to (or the video would have been better if they were really that talented). Which means, Strike to Burn will ultimately be going against one video, which is decent, but boring and has nothing to do with the song. I'd say we have a solid chance. I'll literally have a nervous breakdown if I meet Mike Shinoda.
hey Mike you and Linkin Park already gave the best holiday gift for me in 2012. Wish success in their project :)
Mike I think about Living things its the worst album from Linkin Park. You need other Meteora.
I gave you one last chance Linkin Park...and you failed. You said you were going back to your roots after admitting your last 2 albums were garbage and you lied. This latest album is just as bad if not worse than the last 2. I can only hope Mike Shinoda hasn't Given Up on the new Fort Minor album.

The communal spirit of Linkin Park's new album 'Living Things' is rubbing off on Mike Shinoda, who wants to take things a step further with a challenge for
Someone... Someone, I don't remember who, once argued with me a while ago about who's who in Linkin Park. You said Mike Shinoda was this guy: not. That's Chester Bennington. This is Mike Shinoda: , as I was asserting. I know. It's been a while - maybe over a year? - but now I have the resources (internet) to show you, and I finally remembered the conversation.
Linkin Park needs to just let Chester Bennington sing and not bother with Mike Shinoda's rapping
In a little more than a decade, Linkin Park has racked up more than 30 credits contributing songs or other pieces of music to a variety of movies and television programs. But frontman Mike Shinoda has never been satisfied with just one outlet for his creativity, and his solo work on the Fort Minor a...

"Not to be forgotten but still unforgiven, But in the meantime there are those who wanna talk this and that, So I suppose that it gets to a point where feelings gotta get hurt, And get dirty with the people spreading the dirt..." -- Linkin Park (Mike Shinoda)
♬ Linkin Park - Burn It Down. was right, the only good part in this song is Mike Shinoda's rap XD
Yesterday I listened to Minutes to Midnight in its entirety and I had forgotten how good it was. Truthfully I've never been a fan of "Given Up" or "No More Sorrow" (because I typically don't like hard songs that don't have mellow spots), but I can't deny that each of those songs make the album complete. Most people who hated the album, I feel, never truly listened to it in its entirety (same with A Thousand Suns). You can't just listen to a song or two and say an album isn't good, or put the songs on random and judge it on that. Linkin Park puts artistic energy and precise care on the order in the which songs play on an album. I can't say the same for most other albums that I've listened to in my life (and that includes albums that I love); most musicians attempt to have a meaningful order, but they don't connect the dots in the way that Mike Shinoda has a gift for. You might hate the "idea" of Linkin Park (assuming they're overrated and lucky), or maybe not even like a few of their songs, but you can't d ...
Linkin Park continue to evolve from album to album, and that includes the method in which they create their songs. For their latest effort, 'Living Things,'

Next month, June 26 to be exact, marks the release of the much-anticipated new album from Linkin Park. Entitled LIVING THINGS, the band dropped "BURN IT DOWN," the hopelessly infectious first single from the album, last month. This week, Noisecreep had the supreme pleasure of getting to listen to LIVING THINGS, sitting in NRG Recording Studios, the actual place where Linkin Park recorded it. In fact, as guitarist Brad Delson explained to us before having the album cranked up, the room where we sat in North Hollywood, Calif. is also where the band's first two albums, Hybrid Theory and Meteora, were recorded in 2000 and 2003, respectively. Co-produced by Rick Rubin and Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda, the album is a take-no-prisoners, 37-minute blast and blitz of everything that has come to define this powerful band - from the dense, dark, layered vortex of keyboards to the powerful and often soaring choruses. Clearly, LP remain a band to be reckoned with. Comprised of 12 tracks, LIVING THINGS kicks off with "LO ...

If all goes well, I'm set to finish college on August 15th, 2015 with my Bachelor's in Fine Arts degree. My main goal is to creatively mess around with music production and try to create my own sound, much like Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park. The career I've chosen: Studio Engineer. With friends like Born Determined, and influences like Finis 'Ky' White, I'm positive I'll get to where I truly want to be within the next 5 years. My life has been filled with nothing but pain and suffering for 21 years too long, it's time I finally turn the tide and be happy for once. With that said, I'm out of here.
I used to love Linkin Park in that enough Mike Shinoda oppa

Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda in his recent Complex interview:"My friend said to me one time, “I believe that every rock-band’s biggest song is really a rap song.” If you start thinking about, it’s actually really funny. You start thinking about “When the Levee Breaks” you start thinking about “We Will Rock You,” you start thinking about Blondie, The Beatles and David Bowie even. These songs… they have a huge backbeat to them and there’s a rhythmic quality that’s very hip-hop. He’s like “you guys made a living doing that. You didn’t accidentally stumble into it on one track.” To varying degrees and varying results... But that’s what we grew up on so that’s what we naturally do."

So, as for Linkin Park's new song... the music. is terrible. However, these are the best vocals we've heard from Chester since Minutes To Midnight... The dude can sing. And for those of you wanting to hear more from Mike Shinoda, he DOES have a verse at the end of the song. So don't give up on it after hearing the first minute or so. Personally, I believe that this song is a perfect representation of what they tried so hard to do on Minutes To Midnight and A Thousand Suns and failed miserably at. Well, I think they've done it. It's different, but it's done well. Give it a chance... I have a feeling the new album is gonna be better than a lot of us ever expected from Linkin Park after that last bomb of an album.
Linkin Park are to release their next album, Living Things, on June 26 co-produced by Rick Rubin and Linkin Park vocalist Mike Shinoda.

Linkin Park's new single 'Burn it Down'. They have gone electronic heavy on this. The only thing that really saves it but being really bland and mundane is Mike Shinoda's rapping. Chester has a great voice, but he is a better vocals with more rocky music. I hope the rest of the album is better.
