Lots of money flowing at the top! Class of 2014 With the 2014 Formula 1 season coming to a conclusion in Abu Dhabi this weekend, it is fitting to look at what drivers earned for their services this year at the pinnacle of the sport. Notably Ferrari bound Sebastian Vettel topped the list along with Kimi Raikkonen and Fernando Alonso – the trio banking €22 million for their efforts – while Daniel Ricciardo, who has won three times this season while Red Bull teammate Vettel has yet to stand on the top step of the podium, earned a mere €750.000 for his endeavours. Lewis Hamilton at €20 million banked substantially more than his title rival and Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg who took home €12 million pay check. Below are the 2014 F1 drivers’ salaries in Euros (where €1.00= $1.25) according to Business Book GP: Sébastian Vettel (Red Bull) : €22 million Fernando Alonso (Ferrari) : €22 million Kimi Raikkonen (Ferrari) : €22 million Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) : €20 million Jenson Button (Mc ...
F1 official page Formula One racing is set for a showdown like no other this weekend, as a gripping season heads for what promises to be a dramatic, unique double-points climax in Abu Dhabi. Fittingly, both Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg insist they won't be changing their philosophy to suit the occasion - which means both title protagonists go into the decider determined to win. It is Hamilton who holds the advantage, with 334 points to Rosberg's 317. That lead means he can clinch the drivers' title even if Rosberg wins - so long as he finishes second. The Briton, who also has the benefit of having previously experienced final-round showdowns, says however that he won't look to play it safe. "Going into this last one, I don't think there is a special recipe for it," Hamilton says. "I just have to go and do what I have been doing - drive the way I have been driving - because generally it's been good. I won't make a mistake like I did [in Brazil]. "In 2007 and ‘08 when I was fighting for the title, I de ...

Did you know that Nico Hulkenberg has led more laps in Brazil than Jenson Button, Fernando Alonso or Lewis Hamilton?
A serious crash involving Jules Bianchi overshadowed Lewis Hamilton's victory at Sunday's rain-hit Japanese Grand Prix.Hamilton was over nine seconds ahead of Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg when both Adrian Sutil and Bianchi spun out in quick succession and required medical treatment, with the latter taken unconscious to hospital. Frenchman Bianchi (Marussia) struck a recovery vehicle dealing with the Sutil (Sauber) incident on turn seven. Race control opted to bring proceedings to an end on lap 46 following the return of the safety car, meaning championship leader Hamilton secured a first win at Suzuka - although the podium celebrations were understandably muted as fears grew for Bianchi's well-being. Sebastian Vettel finished third as Hamilton went 10 points clear of Rosberg in the drivers' standings with four races of the 2014 Formula One season remaining. Daniel Ricciardo, Vettel's Red Bull team-mate, and McLaren's Jenson Button rounded out the top five. Torrential rain created treacherous conditio . ...
Spoiler alert: - - - Lewis Hamilton excels in wet conditions to extend his lead by 7 points of title rival Nico Rosberg. The race began under safety car but was then delayed for 10 minutes. Fernando Alonso had to retire with an electrical fault in his car, a disappointment for everyone hoping he could challenge the Mercedes. Their closest rivals were the Red Bull's with Sebastian Vettel ahead of Daniel Ricciardo. A characteristic early move into the pits for Jenson Button put him in fifth place despite being long in the running for a podium. The race was red flagged at lap 44. There is concern for Jules Bianchi who has been sent to a local hospital with concussion. ~Jolley

Ron Dennis hints at Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button reunion as Mercedes turmoil continues
News: Lewis Hamilton set himself up as favourite for S day's Italian Formula One Grand Prix after beating championship-leading team mate and title rival Nico Rosberg to pole position on an all-Mercedes front row. Mercedes-powered cars filled the top six slots after Saturday qualifying, with Williams drivers Valtteri Bottas and Felipe Massa together on the second row and McLaren's Kevin Magn sen and Jenson Button fifth and sixth. The pole was 2008 World Champion Hamilton's fifth of the season and the 36th of his career. "We've done this as a team and it's great to have another one-two for the team," said Hamilton, who is 29 points adrift of Rosberg in the championship after they collided in Belgium two weeks ago. That incident has been the talk of Formula One, with Rosberg taking the blame for a coming together that led to Hamilton's retirement at Spa. .

This is why Jenson Button is an *** hole. Lewis Hamilton was being the bigger man, apologizing and stuff and this imbecile tries to put him down. Look at the arrogance in his words. Speaking of words, wasn't this the same lunatic who said he was going to win championships from 2013 because Lewis was no longer in the team, and is currently on the brink of losing his place in the team? Maybe he should talk about that.

Free Practice 1 Lewis Hamilton set the pace in Friday's first practice in Spain while Sebastian Vettel and Nico Rosberg were both hit with problems. On a morning when all 11 teams were testing updates for their cars, it didn't take long for the drivers to get down to business. Daniil Kvyat set the early benchmark time, a 1:37.986, before lowering that to a 1:36 and then heading back into the pits. After a few minutes of silence, the drivers headed back out, putting their extra set of hard Pirelli tyres to good use. Pastor Maldonado had a brief moment at the top of the timesheets before Fernando Alonso came through with a 1:29.874. Kevin Magnussen was second ahead of Jenson Button. However, when the two Mercedes drivers ventured out it was all change. Lewis Hamilton hit the front with a 1:28.028 while Nico Rosberg went second quickest, a tenth behind. Meanwhile there were problems at Red Bull Racing as Sebastian Vettel came to a stop out on track at the exit to Turn 5. He had completed just four laps at th ...

Chinese GP at Shanghai International Circuit went a bit of boring except few maneuver as Lewis Hamilton had his hat-trick win in his career and matched with Jim Clark and Niki Lauda's 25 race victory record. Lewis Hamilton right away pulled ahead from the beginning of the race till the end without any fuss from others. Daniel Ricciardo also lost some pace but regained it and gave a chase toward Fernando Alonso but failed to *** the last podium place available. Formula 1 will pay tribute to the passengers on missing flight MH370 at Sunday's Malaysian Grand Prix. The plane, travelling from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing, disappeared on 8 March and is thought to have crashed with the loss of all 239 people on board. Drivers are expected to carry messages on cars and helmets and there will be a minute's silence before the race. "It's devastating to hear about it," said Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton. "All you can do is pray." Fellow Briton and McLaren driver Jenson Button added: "It's good that the whole of the paddock are running tributes. "It's devastating. I really feel for all the families. FIA Formula One World Championship – Round One Australian Grand Prix – Melbourne Nico Rosberg wins an exciting Championship opener in Australia with a flag-to-flag victory in the Mercedes AMG. In a race that had action at almost every turn, the German made the most of a great start to comfortably manage his lead and win by a margin that will be extremely encouraging for the “Silver Arrow”. This was Rosberg’s fourth Formula One victory. Local hero Daniel Ricciardo brought his Red Bull home in second after a fabulous personal weekend’s performance. Remarkably, after such a torrid time in testing, the Red Bull did its first race distance of the year and the team will be mightily relieved. Behind him in third was the Danish Rookie Kevin Magnussen in his first Grand Prix at the wheel of the McLaren. A fabulous performance by the young Dane saw him right behind Ricciardo at the finish and enjoying a debut podium. Jenson Button in the second McLaren was fourth, fifth Fernando Alonso, sixth Valtteri . ...

Good Race for the rookie Kevin Magnussen earning a podium on his debut. Daniel Ricciardo also earning a podium on his Red Bull debut! But it was Nico Rosberg, the champion leading almost all the laps and winning the race beautifully
not overly convinced with the opening race and these new cars, but a solid race for Nico Rosberg and a good race for Jenson Button, feel for Lewis Hamilton but pmsl at Sebastian Vettel
FP3 - Rosberg keeps Mercedes on top in Melbourne Nico Rosberg rammed home an uncomfortable truth for Mercedes' rivals in this afternoon's final free practice session in Albert Park, when he lapped his F1 W05 1.391s faster than Jenson Button's McLaren. Lewis Hamilton had set the pace for Mercedes while teams were running the medium compound Pirelli, but as he made mistakes on his laps on the soft tyre, Rosberg kept his cool and jumped to the top with 1m 29.375s. As Hamilton failed to improve on his medium-tyre time of 1m 30.919s and thus finished fourth, Button jumped up to second on 1m 30.766s chased by Fernando Alonso's Ferrari on 1m 30.876s. Daniel Ricciardo got beneath 1m 31s, with 1m 30.970s for Red Bull, which left them 1.595s off Mercedes' pace, but as the home favourite made the most of what he had, team mate Sebastian Vettel was in a world of hurt down in 12th place on 1m 32.255s after sliding all over the place on his soft-tyre run. He complained later that his car wasn't accelerating properly to ...
Prac Three: Rosberg takes over Nico Rosberg replaced Lewis Hamilton as the man to beat on the soft tyres while his team-mate struggling to put it together in Prac Three. Hamilton had been leading the way on the medium tyres, however, a swap to the softs saw Rosberg come to the fore. The German driver clocked a 1:29.375 to set the fastest time of the weekend to date. Hamilton tried to fight back but had a slow middle sector and ran off at Turn 9 - as many did - and eventually finished fourth, 1.544s down. Jenson Button was second fastest for Mercedes by was a staggering 1.391s slower than Rosberg while Alonso was third, a further 0.110s off the pace. Daniel Ricciardo was fifth quickest for Red Bull in another solid morning while his team-mate Sebastian Vettel could only manage 12th. Like many out in the final ten minutes, Vettel was caught up by a tail wind at Turn 9 that buffered his car and went him running wide. Nico Hulkenberg had a good morning, bringing his Force India home in sixth place ahead of Ki ...
Nico Rosberg was top in the final practice session before qualifying at Melbourne today. His fastest run was 1.4 seconds quicker then next fastest, Jenson Button. Ferrari's Fernando Alonso was third fastest, whilst Lewis Hamilton's low fuel run was hampered by off-road trips. With Daniel Ricciardo fifth and Nico Hulkenberg sixth, there are five different cars in the top six. Sebastian Vettel came in early from his low fuel run following a conversation on his team radio where he described the car's handling as 'horrible'. His problems continued when Rocky announced on the radio that the new qualifying settings may have 'damaged the engine'. Kimi Raikkonen continued to struggle with his brakes throughout the session, whilst Lotus appeared to have just endured their most distressing practice to date after Pastor Maldonado stopped out on track and Romain Grosjean was heard yelling over the radio: "Nothing is solved!" Esteban Gutierrez and Valtteri Bottas both suffered gearbox failures and Pat Symonds said tha ...
Free Practice 2 is over for the Australian Grand Prix and Mercedes posted the two fastest times. Lewis Hamilton was 0.157 seconds faster than his teammate Nico Rosberg. Fernando Alonso was third for Ferrari, Sebastian Vettel fourth for Red Bull Racing, and Jenson Button fifth for McLaren. Caterham did not get either of its cars out again and the Lotus of Pastor Maldonado also did not run a lap. Romain Grosjean hit the wall doing damage to his Lotus' left rear suspension late in the session.
Ferrari's Fernando Alonso was a surprise pace-setter in the first practice session of the new season as Lewis Hamilton hit trouble. Alonso was more than half a second quicker than McLaren's Jenson Button as pre-season favourite Hamilton's Mercedes broke down on his first serious lap. World Champion Sebastian Vettel, who had a disastrous pre-season, was seventh fastest after just 10 laps in the Red Bull. The German's car failed on its way into the pits towards the end of the session. Finn Valtteri Bottas, tipped to compete at the front for Williams this weekend, was third fastest, ahead of team-mate Felipe Massa, Vettel's team-mate Daniel Ricciardo and the second Mercedes of Nico Rosberg. There were five different cars in the top six, all covered by less than 0.8 seconds. Vettel was 0.953secs off Alonso's pace-setting lap of one minute 31.840 seconds - a smaller margin than some had expected after Red Bull's testing programme was hit by a series of problems. Andy
The first Formula 1 practice session for the 2014 season has finished with Fernando Alonso on top of the times. Only 16 of the 22 drivers set a lap time, with Lewis Hamilton suffering a power unit shut down after a sensor accidentally turned it off... Jenson Button was second quickest, ahead of Valtteri Bottas, Felipe Massa, Aussie Dan Ricciardo and Nico Rosberg.
Great result for this guy! Fernando Alonso was the first man out on track for 2014 and ended opening practice on top. The Spaniard set a 1:31.840 ahead of Jenson Button, Valtteri Bottas, Felipe Massa and Daniel Ricciardo. Plenty of cars came unstuck at T1, while reliability problems hampered Lewis Hamilton and both Lotus and Caterham cars.
Fernando Alonso has been revealed as the most marketable driver in Formula 1 after a study by a leading sports marketing company found the Ferrari driver to have the highest level of appeal, influence and trust in the sport. Jenson Button beat compatriot Lewis Hamilton to the most marketable in the UK market. Andy
Tom Ingram’s stellar start to 2014 continues to go from strength-to-strength, as only a fortnight after confirming plans to compete in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) with Speedworks Motorsport this season, the gifted High Wycombe ace has been appointed a British Racing Drivers’ Club (BRDC) SuperStar. The venerable BRDC is one of the most esteemed and well-recognised institutions in the sport, and with members of the ilk of erstwhile F1 World Champions Sir Jackie Stewart, Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button and John Surtees as well as fellow British motor racing legends like Sir Stirling Moss, its spheres of influence reach far and wide. The brainchild of the club’s former president, 1996 F1 World Champion Damon Hill, the BRDC’s elite SuperStars scheme is a focussed and dedicated driver development programme that is unique in its field and unites the indisputable crème de la crème of Britain’s young racing crop. Read our end of the day F1 testing update from Martin Whitaker here or on our website! Another full day of Formula One testing at Bahrain International Circuit in near perfect weather conditions with all the teams starting the day with the intention to maximize the chance of getting as many testing miles under their belts as possible. It was a successful day for some and, as always in testing, not so good for others. Underlining the trend of the last few days it was the Mercedes runners who again had the best of the day with Lewis Hamilton in his Mercedes AMG F1 W05 and Jenson Button in the McLaren MP4-29 leading the way. Button registered 103 laps but was second on the time sheet .713 seconds behind Lewis who put in a best for the day of 1m 34.263 secs. Hamilton did less laps than his former team-mate with 67. Both drivers looked very comfortable and pleased with their performance and rightly so, particularly as the Renault runners are clearly not up-to-speed in terms of performance or reliability. Danie ...
By Glenn Freeman Friday, February 21st 2014, 14:01 GMT Lewis Hamilton ended the third day of Formula 1 testing in Bahrain on top of the timesheets for Mercedes, while Red Bull was forced to finish its running early. The 2008 World Champion took up a commanding position at the head of the field after a series of short runs in the morning, as Mercedes worked on what it called "different set-ups". Hamilton spent a long time in the garage in the middle of the afternoon, before returning to the action with little more than half an hour remaining and adding another 22 laps to his total. Bahrain F1 test in pictures For most of the day nobody got within three seconds of Hamilton's best, with Jenson Button leading the following pack. The Briton was briefly knocked back to third by Esteban Gutierrez around lunchtime, before he put in a lap time 0.7 seconds adrift of Hamilton during a busy afternoon where he completed a mammoth 75 laps in the MP4-29. One car that was rarely seen on track in the afternoon was Red Bul ...
My tip for title glory this season would be either Lewis Hamilton, Nico Rosberg or Fernando Alonso. Maybe even Jenson Button.

I would just like to say, that my gorgeous hubby Steven Maloney is the most awesome inspiring man that I know, he has been given this devastating illness of MND to live with he is now really stuggling with mobility we have a stroller for around the house who is named Jenson Button and we have a wheelchair named Lewis Hamilton, this is because they have now taken a big place in our lives and so therefore deserve recognition. McLaren test driver Gary Paffett believes Formula 1 rookie Kevin Magnussen has the speed to push Jenson Button in the same way Lewis Hamilton used to at the team
Drivers had to submit three choices to the FIA before Christmas. If two (or more) drivers chose the same number, the highest ranked in the championship took their first choice, whilst the second driver takes their second choice, and so on. They could choose between 2 and 99. With the number 1 being reserved for the champion. In this case, Sebastian Vettel will have the choice between number 1 or his chosen permanent number of 5. Number 13 - not normally used due to its association with poor luck - has been chosen by Lotus's Pastor Maldonado. The list also includes Max Chilton as Marussia's second driver, even though the team have yet to publically announce his place, leaving Caterham as the only team to finalise their 2014 line-up. Adrian Sutil chose the highest possible number, 99. 1* Sebastian Vettel, Red Bull 3 Daniel Ricciardo, Red Bull 44 Lewis Hamilton, Mercedes 6 Nico Rosberg, Mercedes 14 Fernando Alonso, Ferrari 7 Kimi Raikkonen, Ferrari 8 Romain Grosjean, Lotus 13 Pastor M ...
FORMULA 1 Sebastian Vettel set himself up for a third victory in India and a sixth consecutive 2013 success by clocking the fastest-ever lap around the Buddh International Circuit in India on Saturday afternoon. The Red Bull driver, who can clinch a fourth world title by finishing fifth or higher in Sunday's race, clocked a lap of 1m 24.119s on the soft tyre - seven-tenths quicker than Mercedes’ Nico Rosberg, who qualified in second ahead of team mate Lewis Hamilton. Mark Webber was fourth fastest in the other Red Bull, but could prove to be Vettel’s biggest challenger in the race after opting for a different strategy to his team mate and qualifying on the much more durable medium-compound tyre. Q1 saw some incredibly close times as McLaren’s Jenson Button surprised everyone by setting the pace with 1m 25.574s ahead of Webber, Toro Rosso’s Daniel Ricciardo, Ferrari’s Felipe Massa and Hamilton. The other shock came as Romain Grosjean failed to make it through for Lotus after a gamble staying on m ...

Scottish logic dictates that they cannot cheer when Lewis Hamilton/Jenson Button win. Or support an English team (Which most of them do)
Fanatics Local hero Lewis Hamilton starts from pole after Mercedes again locked out the front row with team mate Nico Rosberg. The Red Bulls of Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber are on row two. Paul Di Resta qualified a career best-equalling fifth, but has been dropped to the back of the grid for an underweight car. That means Daniel Ricciardo starts an impressive P5 for Toro Rosso, with Di Resta's team mate Adrian Sutil joining him on row three. The Lotus cars of Romain Grosjean and Kimi Raikkonen line up seventh and eighth, with Ferrari's Fernando Alonso and McLaren's Jenson Button completing the top ten. Pirelli have brought their hard (orange markings) and medium (white) dry tyre compounds. Initial predictions were for a two-stop race, but with the temperatures a fair bit higher today, we may see many drivers three-stopping instead. The top nine on the grid must start on the medium tyre they qualified on. Everyone from Button downwards has the choice of starting compound. There are two DRS zones at Sil ...
Good luck to Lewis Hamilton today, and hope Jenson Button comes up from 12th on the grid to be on the podium. He's done it before, so he can do it again, as only a SOMERSET man could! Good luck to Laura Robson tomorrow. The girl done good yesterday.
Lewis Hamilton got the pole position on his home GP, on Great Britain. He was 0.4s faster than his teammate Nico Rosberg, and by that Mercedes dominates the first row. On the next row, Red Bull has Vettel ahead of Webber. The pace for two of the main teams was worse than expected. While Force India has the 5th and 7th positions (Paul Di Resta and Adrian Sutil, respectively), with Toro Rosso's Daniel Ricciardo between them, Lotus has Romain Grosjean 8th and Kimi Raikkonen 9th, and Ferrari had only one car on Q3. Fernando Alonso got the 10th position with the Brazilian teammate Felipe Massa on 12th, also behind Jenson Button. Images and times on

F1: £145 British Grand Prix tickets leave sales in the slow lane as fans rebel against price rises at Silverstone. ( i say just poor British weater ) Interest hit by among the most expensive admission prices of any F1 race. It’s the leading motor-racing event of the UK sporting summer, but attendance at this month’s British Grand Prix is expected to be significantly down as Formula One fans rebel against ever-increasing ticket prices. The cheapest tickets for next’s Sunday’s race at Silverstone start at £145 – among the highest of any Grand Prix. This appears to have priced out many F1 enthusiasts as the downturn bites, with a course spokesman admitting to The Independent yesterday that sales “aren’t that strong”. Public interest has also been hit by the lack of British success as neither Jenson Button nor Lewis Hamilton has won a race this year. At close of business yesterday, Silverstone’s website showed that 22 ticket categories are still available while only 11 are sold out. In co ...

Sebastian Vettel took pole position for the Canadian Grand Prix, edging out Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas in changeable conditions in Montreal. Rain fell throughout qualifying but with the track conditions always changing it was an impressive job from Vettel to take pole position on his first run in Q3. Hamilton was just 0.087s off Vettel with his lap, while Bottas - who had looked quick all afternoon - was last across the line during the first runs and went third. Rain started to fall more steadily in the final five minutes to prevent any further improvements, with Nico Rosberg having to settle for fourth ahead of Mark Webber and Fernando Alonso. It was a good session for Vettel as his other title rival - Kimi Raikkonen - only lines up ninth. Both McLarens missed out on a place in Q3 as both Toro Rossos made it in to the top ten, while there was only one Ferrari in the final part of qualifying after Felipe Massa had another crash. After a damp Q1 the rain was heavier by the start of Q2 and intermedi ...
Qualifying re run in 5.1 surround. Cant wait for the race! Good luck to all our British boys Lewis Hamilton, Paul Di Resta, Jenson Button, Max Chilton
Vettel hopes for dry Canada GP Canadian Grand Prix polesitter Sebastian Vettel said the fluctuating Montreal weather made life tough during Saturday's qualifying sessions. The three-time defending Formula One drivers' champion tipped Mercedes and Ferrari to be challenging for the front of the grid after Friday practice, but the German superstar was too classy in an undulating climate to earn pole. Mercedes occupy spots two and four, with Lewis Hamilton to start on Vettel's shoulder and Nico Rosberg behind him, while surprise packet Valtteri Bottas will be on the second line of the grid in his Williams-Renault after qualifying third fastest. "It was very tricky today, especially as you never knew what the conditions were going to be like the next time you went out," Vettel said. "It was intermediate tyres throughout, but it was extremely difficult to adapt as the conditions were constantly changing. "In the last qualifying session we decided to have two runs; we thought the second would be quicker, as we h ...
Qualifying - Vettel on pole as Bottas stars in rain-hit Canada Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel will start from pole position for the Formula 1 Grand Prix Du Canada 2013 after a qualifying session in which the track steadfastly refused to dry out after rain at lunchtime. Vettel will be joined on the front row by a revitalised Lewis Hamilton for Mercedes, with surprise-of-the session Valtteri Bottas placing his Williams third ahead of Nico Rosberg in the other Mercedes. It had begun raining at five minutes to one, but the brave all attempted to get away with supersoft tyres for a lap when Q1 began. Kimi Raikkonen slid his Lotus straight over the grass at Turn 2, while Max Chilton spun his Marussia at the hairpin. Everyone came in for intermediates. Just as it had been in practice, the session was one of rapid-fire improvements as conditions slowly improved and a drying line emerged. In the end Vettel was fastest with 1m 22.318s, almost a second ahead of Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso, with Mark Webber in the oth ...
The Canadian Grand Prix - did you know? Of the current grid, Lewis Hamilton is the master of Montreal, though it has been a case of win or bust. The Mercedes driver has started five races in Canada, winning three times (2007, 2010, 2012) and retiring twice (2008, 2011). Kimi Raikkonen, Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button have each won the race once, with Button's victory remarkably achieved despite having led just one lap during his 12 Canadian Grand Prix appearances.
The Monaco Grand Prix - did you know? Six of the current grid have won in Monaco - Sebastian Vettel, Jenson Button, Lewis Hamilton and Kimi Raikkonen have all won once, and Fernando Alonso and Mark Webber twice. Webber has also scored more points at Monaco than any other driver in history, although revisions to the points-scoring rules have helped his cause greatly.
And then… Press Conference at the Monaco Grand Prix Formula 1 My personal favorite: Jenson Button and also Lewis Hamilton. World Champion Sebastian Vettel and in the Ferrari Paddock you can probably recognize Fernando Alonso!
A surprising article in Athletics Weekly : Lewis Hamilton raced on to the front cover of Athletics Weekly in 2008 after revealing how important running was – and since then AW has published details on how fellow Formula One driver Jenson Button has also showed impressive athletics ability. Button smashed the three hours mark for the marathon back in December when he clocked 2:58:34 on the slow Honolulu course in Hawaii and went on to prove it was no fluke in Cannes in February when he clocked 79:07 for a half-marathon. Lewis Hamilton says he isn't excited by the challenge of trying to beat former McLaren team-mate Jenson Button in 2013 and has instead identified Ferrari's Fernando Alonso as his chief rival on the grid. While one of the most intriguing subplots of the new season will be how Hamilton's performances at Mercedes compare to those of Button and Sergio Perez at McLaren following the 2008 World Champion's bombshell decision to leave the Woking outfit, Hamilton has insisted he is more concerned with defeating the driver he believes is the best in the sport. Barcelona F1 test summary: Rosberg and Mercedes on top The new-look Mercedes squad gave itself huge cause for optimism at Barcelona by ending Formula 1's final pre-season test of 2013 on top of the timesheets. Team newcomer Lewis Hamilton - who claims to be loving life after leaving his former job in Woking for one in Brackley - set a blistering pace on Saturday, which was bettered by team-mate Nico Rosberg one day later. Rosberg's 1m20.130s lap was set on the soft tyre and left him 0.3s clear of Fernando Alonso's Ferrari. Sebastian Vettel, Kimi Raikkonen and others claimed that the Mercedes performance could not be taken as conclusive proof of its pace due to the uncertainty over what fuel load the F1 WO4 was running. Alonso's final-day time was good enough for second overall with Hamilton's Saturday pace securing him third, ahead of Felipe Massa and Jenson Button. While the long-run pace of both Sauber and Force India on Sunday was fractionally adrift of what Button's McLaren managed, both also showed g ...

Just casually bumped in to Lewis Hamilton on my lunch break.
Despite securing seven race victories last season, McLaren failed to launch a title attack and eventually finished third behind Red Bull and Ferrari while drivers Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button were fifth and sixth in the Drivers' Championship. The team's failure to once again grasp the main titles extended their Championship-less run to four seasons. This year McLaren are determined to put that right. "For 2013, of course, we go racing to win," said Whitmarsh. The 54-year-old believes that in Button and new signing Sergio Perez as well as the newly-launched MP4-28 he has the right combination to achieve that goal. "With Jenson and Checo, and this fantastic-looking new car, I believe we're extremely well prepared for another competitive season. "Jenson is driving better than ever - he's the most experienced driver in Formula 1, but he makes every ounce of that experience count: he's peerless in his ability to read a race and one of the very fastest drivers out there. He's a consummate professional, too, ...

Perez flies in for first day at McLaren source: (Reuters) WOKING, England (Reuters) - Mexican Sergio Perez turned up for his first day at work at McLaren on Wednesday with his sights set on adding his name to the team's roll call of Formula One champions. "As soon as you walk in through this door you see these great names, these great cars," said the 22-year-old, who arrived at the factory in a 195,000-pound orange McLaren MP4-12C Spider convertible. "There is so much history in this team that it makes you feel great. This is a dream come true for myself to be able to drive for such a team." Perez replaces 2008 World Champion Lewis Hamilton, who has moved to Mercedes, alongside 2009 title winner Jenson Button at the British-based team. He joins a team whose cars - driven over the years by champions such as Ayrton Senna, Alain Prost, Niki Lauda and James Hunt - are on display in a futuristic factory atrium that also has cabinets full of silverware from the team's 182 race wins since 1968. The Mexican, who ...
Former Formula One World Champion Damon Hill is predicting a five-way fight for the driver's championship and by extension the constructors title. It remains to be seen whether F1 betting experts will concur by installing Mercedes among the favourites for the title this season. But having acquired the services of Lewis Hamilton, Hill reckons Mercedes can gatecrash the party and emerge as genuine championship contenders in 2013. "You could look at 2013 like this: Jenson Button's got McLaren, Lewis has got Mercedes, Fernando's got Ferrari, Sebastian Vettel's got Red Bull, and Kimi Raikkonen's got Lotus," Hill told Autosport. "The reality of the situation is that any of them could win." German duo Nico Rosberg and Michael Schumacher struggled in 2012, with only the former's victory in China and two other podium finishes Mercedes' only successes. While many have questioned Hamilton's decision to move from McLaren, regular title challengers, to a team that finished fifth last year, Hill believes Hamilton can b ...

Sergio Perez & Jenson Button should go down together. Nico Rosberg & Lewis Hamilton might have a good car, considering MGP has been using the last 8 races as testing for 2013 and not for racing. Watch out for Nico Hülkenberg in the Sauber!!!
Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel may have finished only sixth in a stunning Brazilian race on Sunday, as McLaren’s Jenson Button headed the Ferraris of title rival Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa home, but it was enough to make him the first triple World Champion since Michael Schumacher. Light rain made the start difficult, but then Vettel was spun through 180 degrees in Turn Four as he was hit by Bruno Senna’s Williams, which then took out Sergio Perez’s Sauber. McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton led Button in the early stages as Massa boiled through to *** third place and then handed the place to Alonso on the fifth lap. But soon the conditions were bad enough for some to consider switching their slicks for Pirelli's intermediates. The Red Bull run continued in the 2012 F1 Korean GP as Mark Webber led teammate Sebastian Vettel to pole position during qualifying yesterday! Red Bull not only secured another 1-2 on the starting grid but also gave Renault their 200th pole position in F1. Webber got the better of Japanese GP pole-sitter and winner Vettel during Q3 while McLaren Team driver Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari Team driver Fernando Alonso fought for 3rd position on the starting grid. Hamilton emerged victorious while his teammate Jenson Button missed the Q3 cut in 11th position thanks to Mercedes Team driver Michael Schumacher. The Ferrari’s performance was further evident with Felipe Massa posting the 6th fastest timing. The Brazilian is sandwiched by both Lotus Team drivers Kimi Raikkonen and Romain Grosjean with Raikkonen outqualifying his teammate. Grosjean surely must have learnt his lesson to avoid causing another first corner accident. The Frenchman has retired from 6 races in total this season due to first lap accidents. T ...

It was a Red Bull run in the 2012 F1 Japanese GP qualifying session held yesterday as Sebastian Vettel led his teammate Mark Webber to a 1-2 position on the starting grid! This is Vettel’s fourth successive pole position in Suzuka and 34th in career which makes him 3rd highest pole-sitter behind Aryton Senna and Michael Schumacher. The reigning World Champion will surely try to take as much points during the race to close in on Championship leader Fernando Alonso. The Ferrari team driver, who is 7th on the grid, is currently leading the Drivers’ Championships by 29 points with 6 races left in the season. Formula 1 season gets spicy in 2013. Lewis Hamilton moves to Mercedes GP team to partner Nico Rosberg & Sergio Perez moves to Mclaren to partner Jenson Button. Ferrari uncertain over Felipe Massa.many more changes expected in the teams formations. But sadly now.Michael Schumacher will retire I guess with Lewis replacing him.I tell U, With a reliable car.Michael Schumacher is INVINCIBLE.No one can surpass Schumi's record ever!
just read that Lewis Hamilton is moving to Mercedes patronas replacing Micheal Schumacher.. And Sergio Perez Perez will take hi seat joining Jenson Button for the season 2013.. Future of schumi hasn't been confirmed yet coz his retur might haven't went as good as he hoped, only one podium in 3 years up to this date.. but he will confirm that if he wud be racing next season or no in october.. However the decision Hamilton made is out of my sense.. i mean he is World Champion with a hope for winning the title again, and he is moving to less competitor team..!! on the other hand, i m very very happy that Perez hasn't move to Ferrari coz in Ferrari, he will always be a second driver whereas in Maclaren, drivers got equal status.. so we can see his talent grooming..
Join Formula One Champions Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton as they put McLaren's new MP4-12C through its paces
Sergio Perez is believed to top the list of potential replacements for Lewis Hamilton – and it’s already being reported that the Mexican could be confirmed as early as today. Perez is a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy and has tested for the Italian team. Luca di Montezemolo has made it clear, however, that he felt that the Mexican was not yet experienced enough to replace Felipe Massa for 2013. If that was a power play in a game with Perez’s backers, it may have misfired if the youngster has indeed signed for McLaren. He emerged as a potential candidate for McLaren after his superb performance in the Italian GP. McLaren has made some unexpected moves on the driver market in the past, most famously when it took Kimi Raikkonen from Sauber after the Finn had been in F1 for just one year. The signings of Juan Pablo Montoya, Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button also came out of left field at times when those drivers appeared to be committed elsewhere. Perez will go to McLaren in conjunction with substa ...

Lewis Hamilton beat McLaren team-mate Jenson Button to pole at the Italian Grand Prix as Ferrari's Fernando Alonso bid failed
Ferrari's Fernando Alonso said he felt McLaren were the early front-runners at what promises to be an incredibly competitive Italian Grand Prix. McLaren's Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button set the pace in Friday practice, but Alonso was only 0.058 seconds behind them in third. Alonso, the World Championship leader, said: "McLaren looked very strong so we need to find something extra." But Button said: "Ferrari's pace is very good. They are very, very quick." The field is extremely closely matched - just 0.257secs separated pace-setter Hamilton from Force India's Nico Hulkenberg in eighth fastest.
