Since I wrote my thoughts about tomorrow's Election a couple of weeks ago, I have not really seen much to change my mind over how I see it playing out.  Given the latest polling I am prepared to say that I think the Liberals will probably win just enough seats to govern in their own right. On that basis my tip for the final count of seats in thye Legislative Assembly will be: Liberal - 30 National - 7 ALP - 22 So I think Barnett's biggest challenge on March 10 will be trying to formulate a Cabinet make-up that will please his backbench and his Nationals partners given they will have both increased in size.  And this assumes that Barnett will find a way to do with without increasing the size of Cabinet from its current size of 17. Of course this is a much better position than McGowan will find himself in.  After March 9, I think his best strategy would be to keep a low profile until after September 14 and start preparing to fight the 2017 State Election. One-third of Gujarat MLAs face criminal cases, including rape Some 57 Members of Legislative Assembly elected by Gujarat in the December polls face criminal charges, including that of rape and murder, while nearly three-fourth of them are crorepatis, up from 31 per cent in the 2007 elections, according to data analysed by the Gujarat Election Watch. The data shows that one-third of MLAs belonging to the Congress as well as the BJP have declared criminal cases. The top three richest MLAs are from the Congress with Balvantsinh Rajput from Sidhpur constituency having assets worth Rs. 268 crore, followed by Rajguru Indranil from Rajkot East with Rs. 122 crore and Pethalji Chavda from Manavadar constituency with assets worth Rs. 82.90 crore. Of the 57 MLAs facing cases, charges have been framed against 35 MLAs for various crimes and 24 face serious offences. In 2007, 47 MLAs had criminal charges against them.
